Abstract:
Pencak silat is an attitude of self-reflection towards the embodiment of Javanese knowledge, because it teaches us to become human beings with noble character which can be achieved through the implementation of certain rituals such as breathing exercises, fasting and certain rituals. The concept of previous martial arts combined a total system of body training through physical and mental training, one is expected to know more about one's abilities, strengths and weaknesses, views of good and bad, know the beauty of every movement of the body and soul which is embedded in a spiritual quest called ngelmu. The existence of pencak silat as a martial art, which was developed and maintained in Java, cannot be separated from the customs of Javanese cultural traditions. Pencak silat is an interesting part of studying the essence and understanding a set of life principles as a guide to life. Pencak silat has a central role that reflects the epistemology of Javanese culture in general. This study was designed using qualitative research methods. The main approach in this research is focused on factual history. The analysis technique of synthesis and interpretation of data on the philosophy of Javanese culture which is reflected in the PSHT martial arts school. Ritual practices are manifested in the form of self-defense techniques that aim to explore the intuitive knowledge of PSHT members obtained through various processes. In essence, Javanese epistemology and its integration with ritual philosophy has the support of members of the pencak silat embodied in a ritual of salvation called slametan. Rituals involve the use of offerings which are philosophically believed to be able to bridge behavior with a spiritual sense, which is embedded in the martial arts practiced by members of the PSHT community. The process of moving from physical to spiritual forging is one of bodily encouragement that works in tandem with the spiritual sense phase.

Abstract:
AbstractDanto's Analytical Philosopy of History is one of the undisputed classics of post-war reflection on the nature of historical writing. Upon its publication in 1965 it was immediately recognized to be a major contribution to contemporary historical thought. Strangely enough, however, little effort was made by philosophers of history to penetrate into the depth of Danto's argument. The explanation is, perhaps, that there was more than a hint of historicism in Danto's conception of historical writing and for which philosophers of history at that time were not yet prepared. This explanation is all the more plausible since German philosophers of history – most notably Hans Michael Baumgartner – were far more sensitive to the book's message than their Anglo-Saxon colleagues. The result is, however, that the book still awaits its proper reception in contemporary philosophy of history.

Abstract:
Hippolytus is a tale seen in ancient Greek literature. It deals primarily with the sexual desire of a stepmother towards her stepson. Euripides also wrote a play on this theme with the similar name. In this he mentioned familiarity in which the poet also can sing. Ancient Greek Historian Pausanias mentioned that the alien who has learnt Greek, knows about this tale. So it is a need to search, how far this tale could travel. Ancient Greeks traded with Tamil Nadu, India. The same tale is also seen in Indian Buddhist text, with other proper names, that mentioned the same is related with the former birth of Buddha. A similar story of Hippolytus is also found in the Hebrew Old Testament and the Arabic Qur'an. These also need comparison. So this study considered the religious value of this Greek tale ‘Hippolytus’. The chastity and vegetarianism of Hippolytus are mentioned as the best morals in an ancient book called Tirukkuṟaḷ, which is on par with Buddhist philosophy. This paper outcomes the concept of chastity and vegetarianism, mingled in the tale, which is the philosopy of Buddhism and how the Greek philosophy admired and induced the Indians to worship the Grecian Deities. Abstract:
Technology is an indispensable aspect of architecture. In fact, it is being an essential part of the human effort in making architecture. Since the early modern era, technology that rapidly change has been seen as the sign of progress, not only pertaining to the technology itself, but also architecture and even civilization. Modern architectural theoreticians, from Sant’Elia to Le Corbusier, enthusiastically embraced the progressive side of technology and engineering. Philosophically, however, modern technology is regarded pessimistically. Heidegger and Jaspers considered technology as the source of alienation to the human being themselves and to the reality they face. To overcome this gap, Alan Drengson, proposed the four philosophy of technology to rechart the variety of tendency towards technology in Western society, consisting of (1) technological anarchy, (2) technophilia, (3) technophobia, and (4) technological appropriateness. In this explanation, he coined the terms “creative philosophy” to include many aspects and ways of thinking which might be incorporated in the creative activities like architectural design. This paper attempts to evaluate the appropriatenes of Drengson’s philosophical scheme as a platform for architectural education in Indonesia in general, by relating his framework with the architectural theories and practices in Indonesia. The result of this effort is while the formulation of his scheme is the very inclusive and closely related with creative activity like architectural design, it contains bias of industrial technology appearing in the Asian scene brought by Western European colonials. Discussing philosophy underlying Gandhi’s movement in India to reject oppressive technology, we may arrive at the conclusion that the philosopy of non-violence, truth and justice based on the principle of self restrained are relevant to figure out the ideal of appropriate technology in Asia.

Abstract:
In this article, the author argues that metaphors can be used as the basis for creating models in legal theory. Drawing on the literature on metaphor from the philosopy of language, he contends that metaphors are best understood as speech acts that propose a hypothesis of similarity between two separate domains. This kind of domain mapping, he argues, is the same procedure that underlies many scientific models, which allow us to transpose our understanding of well-understood phenomena to other areas of inquiry. He concludes with the assertion that — far from being merely ornamental uses of language or rhetorical devices — metaphors are important methodological tools in both the construction and critique of legal theory.

This paper presents Michel Foucault’s thoughts on historical events in the past as they impact on the constitution of the self in the present. Thus, Foucault is known as an historian of the present. An expert in the history of the system of thought, he analyses how people thought and behaved throughout the history of philosophy from the Rennaisance to the classical period (17 th-18 in Foucault’s classification) and onto the 20thth century. As a postmodernist (and post-structuralist) thinker, he critiques modern rationality based mainly on the ego, subject, and consciousness, as passed down to present day thinking by René Descartes. He analyses critically this exclusive rationality and confronts it with his notion of discourse. This paper also presents ways of reading important historical events which were, and are, influential in human life in line with Foucault’s criticism. Keywords: Foucault, philosopy, discourse, subject, etict Artikel ini menyajikan pemikiran Michel tentang peristiwa sejarah masa lalu yang berguna bagi manusia pada masa sekarang. Abstract:
Six decades of N.V. Motroshilova’s active creative work were commonly associated with her work as a historian of philosophy. Although this view is largely fair and is confirmed by the way Motroshilova herself assessed her research, the philosopher’s range of interests was much wider: it covered problems of Western European history, the theory of culture and civilization. The article shows the formation of Motroshilova’s philosophical specialization which began as an interest in German philosophy, initially limited to Husserl’s phenomenology. However, already in the early 1960s the discussion of phenomenological problems was clearly placed in the context of social analysis and was commonly identified with sociology. At the same time, another perspective was outlined: consideration of the problems of Western philosophy from the point of view of the most universal problems of the theory of knowledge. Social analysis as the dominant direction of Motroshilova’s research remained until the end of the 1970s, while the thematic area of this analysis gradually expanded – first to the philosophy of the New Age, subsequently to German idealism (the philosophy of Hegel and then Kant), as well as to the origins of Western European philosophy in Greek antiquity. Simultaneously with this expansion, and largely due to it, the general philosophical methodology also changed: starting from the 1990s, the study of the history of ideas in the aspect of culture and civilization is used as a general approach to the history of ideas. The parallel thematic and methodological “universalization” helps N.V. Motroshilova to implement a number of extremely important scientific and organizational projects for Russian philosophy, three of them occupy a special place: History of Philosophy Yearbook, the first Russian periodic edition, entirely focused on the history of philosophy; preparation and publication of a new textbook History of Philosophy. West – Russia – East, as well as a new edition of the main works of Immanuel Kant.

Abstract:
Historically, philosophy has always been the mother of science. In its development, science is increasingly independent and concrete. However, in the face of many life problems that science cannot answer, philosophy became the basis for answering the problem. Before the 17th century, science was synonymous with philosophy. Philosophy itself is a broad science, meaningz that it is closelyz relatedz to our daily lives. Therefore, the philosophyz of sciencez can be seen as an attemptz to bridgez thez gapz betweenz philosophyz andz science. The urgency of the philosophyzof sciencez can be seen from its role asz a keyz dialogue partner in the development of science. Philosophy of education sets out a guideline to an educational system and/or institution. By the philosophy of education, a direction of the educational system and institution is identified. And the philosophy of education itself brings in a basis to define principles of realization as well as to keep all institutional activities in alignment with the philosophy of education. Thus, the philosphy of education is so important and indispensable to an educational system and institution. Moreover, it is the reciprocal relationship between the educational philosphy and its principles which forms up institutional activities in line with the direction set by the educational philosophy. In this paper I discuss the meaning of the theory of conversational philosophy. I show that its background inspiration is derived from an under-explored African notion of relationship or communion or interdependence. I argue that conversational philosophy forms a theoretic framework on which most ethical, metaphysical and epistemological discourses in African philosophy—and by African philosophers—could be grounded. I call this framework the method of conversationalism. I unveil some of its basic principles and show its significance in and beyond African philosophy.

Abstract:
Today, learning is not just an action that is transmitted by presenting and describing the evidence and information from one person to another, but, on the contrary, giving each student the opportunity to build their own, based on our practical knowledge and experience of understanding the world. The more experience the students have, the more motivation they have for change and development. Philosophy is the foundation of the bases and principles of human existence, a system of developed teachings on the semantic characteristics of human relations to nature, society, and spiritual life, a special form of cognition of the world and the philosophy of its teaching, striving through rational means to build a generalized picture of the world and determine the role of man in it. The article offers an individualized educational experience for students mastering the educational program in the direction of «Philosophy» and students studying in other educational programs, options for training sessions in accordance with the curriculum, and tested contextual factors. These practices have helped to simplify individual learning processes and make the subject more attractive when conducting the discipline «philosophy» for non-philosophy students. And most importantly, this experience serves a deep purpose -instilling wisdom and goodness, truth and honesty, popularization of our national values through mastering philosophy by students. In addition, it helps to develop students’ sense of the importance of life, the incessant pursuit of success, inexhaustible mastery of life lessons, such as the need not to be afraid to make mistakes, striving for innovation.

Abstract:
The modern philosophy of economics in Russia and in the West is devoid of unity: its representatives differ in the definition of the subject of the philosophy of economics, and in the various existing definitions, the “philosophical” part is poorly represented and is often replaced by the methodological one. This study is an attempt to form a holistic view of the subject field of modern philosophy of economics. In our work, we used comparative and historical methods, a systematic approach. The purpose of our work is to define the boundaries of the subject field of modern philosophy of economics. We describe the main historical stages in the development of the philosophy of economics in Russia and abroad, as well as the views of economists and philosophers on the subject of the philosophy of economics. The general conclusion is that the modern philosophy of economics is a study of the methodology, ethics and epistemology of economic science, within the boundaries of which the subject of this area of knowledge is determined. At the same time, the Russian version of the philosophy of economics differs from its Western version in the degree of institutionalization and the level of development of the philosophical problems of economics.

Abstract:
The article examines the question of the correlation of the phenomena “Russian philosophy” and “philosophy in Russia”. The author believes that these phenomena are not identical to each other, and Russian philosophy, being an important fragment of intellectual subculture, was often created outside of Russia. This phenomenon became especially prominent in the twentieth century, when Russian dissidents who were exiled abroad, working in the West, continued to be the largest Russian philosophers. On the other hand, within Russia itself (the Moscow Kingdom, the Russian Empire, the short “democratic republic”, the USSR, post-Soviet Russia), not only Russians in language and culture philosophized and continue to philosophize. The author notes that Russian literature and philosophical journalism played an exceptional role in domestic philosophizing. It was they who most often made philosophy, as knowledge objectively tending to universality, a nationally colored Russian philosophy.

Abstract:
The article considers the philosophy of nature, presented in the lecture course The Woods (hyle) by Vladimir Bibikhin, in the context of posthumanist philosophy as well as contemporary criticism of the technical exploitation of nature. The Woods is analyzed as the implementation of the strategy of “return to nature”, which is outlined by Bibikhin in Philosophy and Technology as an alternative to the “labyrinth of technology” and “human imperialism”. That fact indicates the connection of The Woods with philosophy of technology. The main themes of the The Woods are highlighted, and the concepts of amechania and automaton are analyzed as the key ones for existential and theoretical dimensions of the course. These concepts, introduced in the course Reading Philosophy as human existentials, in the The Woods Bibikhin uses to describe the ontological categories of nature. Such a double meaning becomes possible due to Bibikhin’s following Heidegger’s idea of being-in-the-world, in which our existence and the world are understood through a hermeneutic circle. At the same time, the difference between Bibikhin’s approach and Heidegger’s one is examined. Furthermore, the author analyzed the similarities and differences between The Woods and philosophical posthumanism and then formulates the conceptual consequences of considering The Woods in the context of posthumanist studies.

The position of the philosophy of law in the scientific constellation is as a basis for ethical logic about law. Philosophy of law is a science that specifically discusses the nature of law in a fundamental and comprehensive manner which is always dealing with scientific constellations consisting of the social and natural sciences, so that it’s also at the intersection f the sciences as well as at the meeting point between the sciences. Discusses the concept in romanticism the problem of the volatility and uncertainty of sen-sual impressions; this leads to subjectivity and deceptiveness of the conclusions. F. Schle-gel separates the “perfect” philosophy of idealism. A critical attitude to contemporary phi-losophy is based on the romantic thesis of “eternal” variability of the human spirit and the philosophy of I. Kant as critics in accordance with the essence of skepticism. “Positive” skepticism is seen as a methodological principle of constructing a “predictive” philosophi-cal system, which will be filmed dialectical contradiction between “experience” and “na-ture”. The skepticism in relation to other philosophical systems, previous and current, un-derstood as romantic model controversy. It concludes that criticism of philosophy meant to actually search for “really a philosophical” system.

Abstract:
The article reflects upon the developmet of professional history of philosophy, philosophy of science and theoretical sociology in Soviet Union in the 1950s and 1960s. The decisive contribution to the formation of modern historical and philosophical problems, as well as to modern disputes about the nature of philosophy and science, belongs to Piama Gaidenko. The author focuses on the role of studies in existentialism and the way its problematic shaped human and science studies in soviet philosophy. A small review article published in Voprosy Filosofii in 1959, the very first scientific paper by Gaidenko despite its formal status, appears to be an extremely important scientific document, revealing not only the characteristic personal style of the author soon to become famous, but also the full thematic structure of Gaidenko’s future works. Contrary to the common in the 50-60-s classification of existentialism as “irrationalism” and hence as hostile to science, this movement was the first to be studied as a region of contemporary philosophy thus fostering soviet philosophy to move away from harsh criticism of bourgeois philosophy and develop the branch of history of philosophy as “normal science”.
