Abstract:
Intercultural philosophy emerged in the 1980s and 1990s in Germany and Austria. It has become widespread throughout the world. Geopolitical changes, which defined the nature of modernity as an era of post-colonialism and globalization, played a decisive role in its emergence. The new philosophic trend has grown from a comparative philosophy that has gone through three stages of evolution: from proving the universal "truth" of Western philosophy, to attempts to create a "synthetic philosophy" and, finally, to the recognition of autonomy and significance of non-Western philosophies. Intercultural philosophy offers a new method of thinking, which involves the rejection of claims to the ultimate truth of the philosophical tradition of its own culture, respect for the heritage of other cultures, the deployment of large-scale discourse so that to find alternative approaches to solving both purely philosophical and global problems.

Abstract:

Abstract:
A hermeneutic analysis of the Oriental Philosophers´ writings is invariably a matter of great challenge and difficulty. It is always full of allegory and literary divagations which intersperse a smooth flow of argumentation. This paper is written by Marklen Konurbaev, Professor of Literature at Moscow State University and his son Salavat, a student of Arabic Philosophy. The paper consists of four parts and attempts to reveal the hidden message of a famous extract from the renowned book Ihya Ulum Al Din by a Persian philosopher Ghazall, Abu Hamid Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al-TusI, devoted to the analysis of the notion of "fairness" in the doings of a ruler. The hermeneutic analysis was performed based on the methodology propounded by Roland Gerard Barthes — a French literary theorist, philosopher, linguist and critic. This is the first ever attempt to put together the methodological efforts of a Western scholar and profoundly oriental piece of philosophy. Results of the hermeneutic study are stunning and elucidating. The paper could be recommended to the students of literature and philosophy at universities and colleges.

Abstract:
The reform of higher education continues in Ukraine more than a year; however it does not pay much attention to the changes in the teaching of philosophy. In the article the author investigates different technologies of the problem-based teaching of philosophy and its methods, substantiates the necessity of introducing such technologies in the teaching of philosophy and also shows the specifics of the application of such technologies during the teaching of philosophy at the Lviv National Polytechnic University. Any problem-based education is searching and cognition of unknown. It is based on mental, volitional, and emotional activity, but, above all, it requires to be interested in the subject of study. The author stresses that problem-based education can be practiced in small student groups, which have the sufficient level of interest and motivation to study philosophy. Also, the author introduces his own classification of problem solving tasks in teaching of philosophy, which will help to apply educational material in accordance with the level of students, for example: 1) problematic situations that contribute to the formulation of new concepts (they help to generalize all previous knowledge and extract from it a new one); 2) historical and philosophical problematic situations - these are situations based on historical and philosophical material, when students compare the solution of some philosophical problem in the philosophy of a certain epoch, compare the approaches of different philosophers; 3) developmental problematic situations which help students to understand the logic of defining some philosophical concept, to understand one or another philosopher and his methods of creating concepts.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is an attempt to study how the writer-philosopher Ivan Bunin saw the Russian person and Russia itself on the eve and after October, 1917. For this purpose, the author analyzed important features characteristic of a number of works of Bunin's artistic philosophy, which are concentrated in the journalistic essays «The Damned Days», the story «Village» and the autobiographical novel «Life of Arsenyev». In the article, Bunin's method of analysis is compared with the methods of analysis of his contemporaries – Anton Chekhov, Maxim Gorky and Andrei Platonov with Bunin's analysis: the manner of seeing a particular person is compared with the Chekhov's manner of a benevolent sad observer, confident in the inevitable immutability of what is happening, Gorky's sympathetic empathy for the persecuted, combined with an undisguised hatred of the persecutors, as well as a number of writing tools characteristic of Platonov's realistic phantasmagoria. It is shown that Bunin's manner of philosophical and artistic reflection, still poorly studied, allows the reflecting reader not only to see the characteristic human features usually hidden behind external actions, but also to perceive the writer's assessments and deep philosophical meanings reflected in them. Bunin's special writing style is not only a product of literary methodology. It is a unique way of perception and analysis of the surrounding world materialized in philosophical and artistic works, characteristic of a rare social type of artist – an aristocrat who valued honor and nobility above all else in Russian literature and disappeared after October, 1917.

Abstract:
This paper studies the notion of will in Nietzsche’s philosophy. In order to do so, we started this article reading the aphorisms found in the works of the German philosopher that belong to the last two phases of his production: the intermediate and the late stage. At the same time, from the attainment of the speculative notion of will, we try to discuss the results obtained by researches in the area of experimental psychology. The analysis of Nietzsche’s notion of will, as an idea that contradicts free will and its attribute of a constitutive element of morality, indicates the reasons for Nietzsche’s critique of free will. Finally, after the refutation of free will performed by the will as a necessity, the idea of innocence of the becoming as a presupposition for the transvaluation project for all values.

Abstract:
One of the axes of the so called “Lucianic Question” is the relationship of the writer from Samosata with the philosophy, and especially with the Cynicism. Even though the idea of a “Cynic Lucian” or a “Philosopher Lucian” has been abandoned, modern criticism still seems to hesitate before the image of the Cynicism that we find in the pages of this author, which fluctuate in a more or less explicit way between the approval and praise in one hand, and the attack and sarcasm in the other. This article seeks to re-examine this issue in the light of an analysis of the figure of the Cynic Alcidamas, a character that appears in the Symposium or The Lapiths. The hypothesis to be defended here is that the seemingly pitiless construction of this Cynic, the most “buffoon” of the guests in the described banquet, actually reveals the sympathy and admiration that Lucian feels about the tradition of which Diogenes of Sinope was the chief representative.

From an early age, children ask philosophical questions, there is a phenomenon of child philosophy. Philosophy is considered as an important factor in the formation and development of personality. The article analyzes the traditional educational strategy based on the translation of ready-made, existing knowledge, as the one that doesn’t meet the needs of today Modern society sets before education the task of preparing a critically thinking subject, ready for innovations, seeking to improve his education Research education, which effectively resists the global civilizational crisis, is aimed at the formation of an independent and reflexively thinking person Given this educational strategy, teaching philosophy to children from a very young age makes it possible to make human thinking independent and socially responsible. The focus is on the problematic nature, criticality reflexivity of philosophical knowledge. The article presents philosophy as having the tools that are unique to the development of a child’s thinking abilities. ‘The Philosophy for Children’ program is being studied, in which philosophy acts as a priority discipline in teaching children intelligent thinking. It is concluded that critical thinking is not automatically formed in the course of training and methodological design of philosophy, which is at the basis of modern educational strategy, makes this task possible.

The criticality of sustainability suggests the need to understand how commercial organization could implement sustainable development. This paper focuses on lean manufacturing and intends to explore the potential of lean philosophy to bring the value of sustainability into an organization. The ultimate purpose of the study lies in the comparison between the possibility of lean philosophy to lead to something remotely resembling a contribution to strong sustainability and what lean enterprise present in the sustainability report. According to the lean practices implemented in Toyota Motor Corporation and previous literature about lean philosophy, we explore how lean philosophy could assist spread the value of sustainability initiated by the top management and construct sustainable development in the corporate value chain. The result shows that the corporate philosophy could assist in achieving a consensus among all the stakeholders and mobilizing them moving towards sustainable development. The value of sustainability can also be beneficial from the process of implementing lean practices. However, the report implies that Toyota focuses more on how to utilize lean tools to achieve technological optimization in operation to address sustainability issues, rather than having a thorough understanding of the ecological limits of the planet. This paper offers some helpful reference to lean manufacturing and discuss the potential role of lean philosophy in the construction of sustainable development.

Abstract:
The paper enters contemporary discourse concerning the examination of history of Russian philosophy, which initiates a new reading of the Russian thinkers’ works. These contemporary examinations problematize the phenomenon of so called intellectual doubles as well. The contribution proceeds from the definition of these issues which was published in journal Problems of Philosophy (Voprosy filosofii) by M. A. Maslin in 2013. In this work, Maslin mentions A. I. Herzen among the examples of intellectual doubles phenomenon, who is one of the founders of the Russian Narodism. Following from this basis, the contribution shifts an attention toward issues of intellectual doubles in the context of the Russian Narodism. The work represents an endeavour to deepen the existing problematization of this phenomenon on the basis of examination the N. K. Mikhailovsky’s creative legacy. There can be found two faces in works of this Narodnik thinker. The first one can be figuratively designed as a Petersburgian and the second one as a Yaltian. These designations are borrowed from the notes of Sergey Elpatevsky, who had been Mikhailovsky’s friend. The two faces express the specificity of the problem of doubleness in Mikhailovsky and his qualitative shift in relation to contemporary examinations of the reflected phenomenon.

Abstract:
Upon what empirical basis did Hobbes make his claims about the ‘state of nature’? He looked to ‘the savage people in many places of America’ (Hobbes, 1976: 187). Most people now recognize Hobbes’s assertions about Native Americans as racist. And yet, as Widerquist and McCall argue in their book Prehistoric Myths in Modern Political Philosophy, the myth that life outside the state is unbearable and that life under the state is better remains the essential premise of two of the most influential Western political philosophies in the modern world – social contract theory (contractarianism) and property rights theory (propertarianism). Critiques of these philosophies are not new. But what is new, and exciting, about this book is that a political philosopher (Karl Widerquist) enlists an anthropologist (Grant S. McCall) to systematically debunk this founding myth on the basis of empirical evidence. Despite some confusion about the book's aims, the lack of attention to women and the risk of epistemic injustice, the results are fascinating and, I will argue, should prompt a methodological crisis for some schools of political philosophy.

Abstract:
The article analyses Saint-Simon’s ideas about the mechanism of transition to social reorganization, which he saw as the main content of his contemporary era. Starting with the Letters of Geneva Resident to Contemporaries in the plans of the philosopher a special, exclusive place was given to Napoleon. Saint-Simon expected to strike, attract with his ideas a new star who rose on a political skyscraper. He judged from a belief in the linear, logical-defined course of history. Napoleon was present in the mind of the philosopher as a hero who overcame the negative consequences of the French Revolution, almost the only one able to comprehend easily innovative ideas concerning the transformation of society. In the initial version of Saint-Simon’s philosophy of history, he acts as a necessary element to cement the past with the future. In the time of the First Empire Saint-Simon’s admiration of Napoleon increases, along with his genius is glorified his invincibility as the greatest of people and his coming world conquest. Following this event, the theorist of socialism expects a genius to turn to the sciences and issues of reforming society in the way he predicted. He regarded the “Emperor’s Tribunal” as the highest, most authoritative instance to appeal to resolve worldview collisions. The Restoration cardinally changes the philosopher’s attitude to Napoleon's personality. His role in history for socialist’s consciousness is no longer progressive, but rather conservative. But the general principle – the search for support for his projects from the head of state – is not rejected by Saint-Simon. Now he appeals to Louis XVIII and in general to European monarchs. The bet on a peaceful way of moving to a new, fairer structure, dictated a series of attempts by the philosopher to build a dialogue with the representatives of power.

In this paper I examine the testimonium of Aristotle’s Rhetoric concerning Diogenes the Cynic (SSR V B 184). This piece of evidence is the most ancient source of Diogenes and proves that Aristotle was familiar with his writings. I also study the testimonium on Diogenes that is handed down by Theophrastus (SSR V B 172), which confirms the interest of the ancient Peripatos in this philosopher. Finally, I examine a passage of Book 1 of the Politics where Aristotle refers to the thesis on the abolition of money. I argue that such a thesis could be ascribed to Diogenes. In particular, I attempt to demonstrate that several theses of political philosophy put forward by Diogenes should be considered as constituting a polemical overthrow of the corresponding theses of Aristotle in Book 1 of his Politics.

In the reviewed book, intercultural philosophy is considered as a development of comparative studies. Marietta Stepanyants shows that, in the framework of comparative studies, stable stereotypes of perceiving the cultures of the West and the East have developed. Intercultural philosophy as an alternative to Westcentrism proceeds from the recognition of the equality of cultural and philosophical traditions and of the possibility to convert categories into another conceptual language. Intercultural philosophy embodies the protest potential of modern culture and the origins of a new civilization project.

Abstract:
The article discusses the play by contemporary playwright Yuri Klavdiev "TheYakuza Dogs." Here is a detailed (but not exhaustive) analysis of the cultural codes. According to the author of the study, the languages of animation, cinema, classical and fictional literature, computer games and eastern philosophy form in the play, a specific "dialect" addressed to its teenage reader. The article emphasizes that a reading teenager is different from a child-reader and an adult reader: their receptive capabilities are largely defined by puberty crisis. On the one hand, in fiction a teenager looks for dynamics and heroics, and, on the other hand, they are eager to face the social reality fierce with its innumerable conflicts. In the first case, the teenagers manifest themselves as a child-reader with their interest for action and the struggle between good and evil. In the second case, on the contrary, as an adult, since the ability to see the border that separates the tale from life belongs only to a well-formed reader.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to perform a context analysis about a specific Kaizen program, suggestion systems in permanent teams, and identified the barriers and facilitators that companies encounter while implementing them from the workers’ perspective. Design/methodology/approach The authors applied an inductive method, the Grounded Theory, to develop a specific context theory using the information that emerged from a convenience sample of 182 workers in several countries. Findings The facilitators and barriers identified for the workers in the field study are aligned with those identified in previous studies, generally obtained using information provided by managers. The methodology enabled us to identify the relationships between them and their level of relevance. Research limitations/implications The main limitations were linked with the source of the data as the authors worked with a convenience sample and only analyzed the information provided by the workers. Practical implications The identified facilitators, their relationships and their relevance, contribute to understand the functioning phenomena of suggestion systems in permanent teams to facilitate organizations using this continuous improvement program more effectively. Originality/value The originality of this study, apart from identifying facilitators from the workers’ perspective, is that the used method enabled us to identify the relationships between them and know how the operators perceived their relevance.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the views of three Japanese philosophers of the 20th century with their example we are convinced the relevance of the traditional worldview in contemporary Japan. Since the Meiji period, Western philosophy and aesthetic theories have constantly influenced the views of Japanese thinkers, but up to this day, traditionalism plays an important role in Japanese thought. This also applies to the emphasis on corporality, human incarnation – the Buddhist position on “the unity of flesh and mind” (shin-jin – itchinyo) and the uncertainty fluidity of all forms of existence of things (mujo), relations, the ephemerality of life itself. This is also true for acceptance of Nothingness (mu) as a metacategory of philosophy which Nishida Kitaro put at the foundation of his system, explaining the historical world and the position in it of a person through the identity of absolute contradictions resolved in the field (basho) of Nothingness. This philosophical position, Buddhist-Taoist in essence, is especially vividly present in the works of Japanese thinkers who study the traditional culture of their homeland and try to give a modern interpretation to its categories.

Abstract:
The article comprehends the features of Hegel’s philosophy of the late period, presented in the book “Hegel’s Philosophy of Spirit: A Critical Guide” edited by M.F. Bykova. The author analyses the key points of Hegel’s philosophical system and demonstrates that the combination of careful textual work and, on its basis, the interpretation of philosophical ideas considered in the context of specific historical eras, plays an important role in conducting research in the field of Hegel studies. Since the philosophical works of Hegel are assessed as very difficult for reading and interpretation, and the principles of building his philosophical system and the development of the absolute spirit, as a result, are often misunderstood, it is not always possible to successfully accomplish such a task. The reviewed collective monograph serves as a good example of research work combining reliance on authorized text sources and grounded interpretations of Hegel’s philosophy within the framework of modern scientific and sociocultural knowledge. The articles collected in the book are devoted to various problems of Hegel’s philosophy of the spirit, presented mainly in the “Encyclopaedia of Philosophical Sciences”, and reasonably show the relevance and importance of Hegel’s philosophy in our days.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract: This article is an introduction to Heidegger’s criticism of reason. It aims at highlighting that the role religion played in Heidegger’s formation – either through his early Catholicism, or through his posterior encounter with Lutheranism – was not merely of biographical interest, but had true philosophical significance. The criticism of modern rationalism, fed by the Catholic polemic against modernism, converged with the assimilation of Husserlian phenomenology and its anti-empiristic perspective. Therefore, far from bringing the philosopher close to the irrationality that prevailed among the “philosophies of life”, the theological motive functioned as a “generator of reason”. It was not only an element of critical distanciation from the primacy of epistemology that would inexorably draw philosophy towards the impasse of psychologism, but also a commitment to the ontological meaning, inherent to reason itself.

The goal of this paper is to distinguish between two main concepts in Philosophy of Religion: the religious human experience and the notion of God. It argues that religion must be understood as a symbolic and cultural construction while the concept of the divine means the experience of the limits of human thought. Sometimes, throughout human history, these two experience meet but they are not conceptually the same.
