Abstract:
The research objective was to see the cultural phenomena that occurred in Karawo embroidery in Gorontalo. Karawo is a typical traditional cloth from Gorontalo which is made by handicrafts. Karawo itself has a unique way of doing it, such as making karawo which requires patience and thoroughness, making karawo takes one week to make one karawo that is ready to use. To support the research, we use descriptive methods and the data collected in the preparation of journals are analyzed descriptively, data collection is also in the form of observations and interviews with traditional stakeholders and karawo embroidery designers. The results show that there is a change in cultural phenomena in the karawo embroidery motifs today, in contrast to the motifs in the past that used cultural motifs based on cultural philosophical values or natural motifs. This is due to the motives that continue to develop and shift to a more modern direction and no longer depend on natural motifs, then adjust to what consumers like. Of course, this affects the making of the karawo embroidery motifs today, which no longer use traditional stakeholders for one motive. The conclusion of the research is to find that the handicrafts of karawo embroidery have shifted to a more modern direction.

Abstract:
The use of Instagram in education consists of technological, educational, and social affordance. Despite positive reports on using social media for learning, there are no reports on using Instagram as a teaching tool in phenomenon-based learning (PhenoBL) for engineering and science courses. This study seeks to understand students’ motivation and perception and their perceived learning outcomes using Instagram for PhenoBL. The findings provided empirical evidence that students had a positive perception of the Instagram activity and were motivated to complete the activity, leading to a positive learning outcome. Through these findings, good practices of using Instagram in PhenoBL to provide better learning motivation and perception in engineering and science courses were proposed.

Abstract:
Concrete autogenous shrinkage phenomenon would adversely affect the mechanical properties and durability of concrete, this phenomenon is important. Autogenous shrinkage problem of low water-cement ratio of the with high mineral admixtures, cement-based cementitious materials was introduced. The main reason for high-performance concrete early cracking being autogenous shrinkage was pointed out. Based on the home and abroad research status of low water cement ratio of the cement paste and concrete autogenous shrinkage, especially for early autogenous shrinkage phenomenon, the mechanism of autogenous shrinkage and the measure method is presented, and the improvement measures and the possible problems the need for further research work is presented.

Abstract:
Arch Effect is a universal natural phenomenon caused by the non-homogeneous displacement of the media. Likely, the pedestrians in a crowd evacuation simulation, according to the social force model, would also form an arch near the exit in a short time. The resulting arch may decrease evacuation efficiency and lead to extremely dangerous situations. In this paper, inspired by the similarity between the natural Arch Effect and pedestrians’ evacuation behaviors, a hypothesis is proposed that the arching phenomenon in crowd evacuation simulations can be controlled by applying the theory of the natural Arch Effect. To test this hypothesis, two steps have been conducted. First, the obstacles in the scene are treated as the arch feet. By setting obstacles at appropriate positions, the arch is formed at a position more distant from the exit. The outer-arch can help to avoid extremely dangerous situations and improve evacuation efficiency. Second, a modified interval equation based on the Arch Effect is proposed to calculate the proper interval of the obstacles to be set in the scene. With the pressure in the crowd and the size of obstacles considered, the equation aims to provide the optimal interval value for pedestrian evacuation. The results of the experiments illustrate that it is effective to analyze and control the arching phenomenon in crowd evacuation simulations by applying the theory of the Arch Effect.

Abstract:
Current scientific work is devoted to the comparative analysis of how the term "metamorphosis" is given in linguistic dictionaries. The use of the term metamorphosis in various fields of science is based on the analysis of the phenomenon of metamorphosis in their lexical meaning and application, in particular when translating works of art. In this study, we tried to cover the problems and issues related to the subject of metamorphosis in the field of translation. One of the oldest and most difficult problems of translation is the translation of cultural units in modern linguistics, the adequate transfer of the content of texts from one language to another in the process of translation. There are some clear terms and expressions in world languages that cannot be translated into other languages of the world. Those words or phrases are usually closely connected with culture, history and literature of a nation. In linguistics, the phenomenon of metamorphosis is characterized by a semantic transformation or transformation of the image of a concept, event, and an animate or inanimate object. Metamorphosis interprets translation change. Metamorphosis is the leading fantasy motif of evolution in fantasy fairy tales in literature. In this article, we have tried to analyze the lexical meaning, interpretation and scientific definitions of the phenomenon of metamorphosis.

Abstract:
This research aims to analyse how to develop the sharia economy of mosques through Baitul Mal wa Tamwil (BMT) in Solok City. BMT Solok City is a non-governmental organisation in the economic sector that has become an icon of Solok City to realise its mission, namely to become the "City of Medina Rice Terraces". The research method used in this research is qualitative research with a case study approach, data analysis used with case studies with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and distributing questionnaires via Google Form. This research shows that BMT management is carried out using the concept of qardh al hasan; institutionally, this institution does not have a legal entity, and its members are active congregants of the local mosque. Regarding BMT activities in Solok City, they are limited to lending and collecting funds and do not have financing service products like other microfinance institutions.

Le rail est le mode de transport de marchandises le plus économe en énergie et le moins polluant. Cependant, le statu quo en matière de maintenance des wagons de fret ferroviaire en Europe présente un état d'inefficacité et un manque d'intelligence. Avec le développement rapide des technologies numériques, la maintenance conditionnelle et prédictive est une excellente opportunité de réaliser un grand gain d’efficacité dans la maintenance des wagons, rendant potentiellement le transport ferroviaire de marchandises compétitif et durable. La manière de tirer parti des technologies numériques au profit de la maintenance des wagons de fret ferroviaire n'est pas seulement un problème technique sur la façon de bien utiliser la technologie numérique pour améliorer l'efficacité de la maintenance, mais aussi un problème stratégique sur la manière d'innover pour générer une croissance de la valeur. dans l'industrie du fret ferroviaire. Ainsi, cette thèse vise à conceptualiser comment réaliser une innovation numérique intersectorielle dans la maintenance des actifs, et à résoudre le problème de ce que le fret ferroviaire peut apprendre de l'industrie aéronautique. À cet égard, sont passées en revue les théories pertinentes dans le domaine de l’innovation et de la stratégie pour trouver un soutien théorique. Cependant, l’innovation numérique intersectorielle est un domaine tellement naissant qu’aucune théorie ne pourrait directement aider à définir, analyser et aborder cette question complexe. Cela nous motive à conceptualiser un nouveau cadre théorique pour expliquer ce phénomène emergent en menant une étude de cas exploratoire sur l’innovation numérique dans la maintenance des actifs dans les secteurs du fret aérien et ferroviaire. Nous commençons par déterminer un cadre préliminaire de système de maintenance des actifs à partir de deux sous-systèmes (système technique et système commercial) pour guider la théorisation basée sur les phénomènes. Ensuite, une approche de raisonnement abductif et de peignage des systèmes est suivie, ainsi qu'une revue de la littérature et une étude de cas comme principales méthodes de recherche. Les résultats d’une étude de cas sur le système technique suggèrent que la stratégie de maintenance des wagons de fret ferroviaire subira un changement de paradigme impératif, passant du préventif au prédictif, notamment en termes d’utilisation de la technologie numérique et de gestion des données. Ainsi, une architecture technique de maintenance prédictive basée sur la surveillance de l’état des wagons de fret ferroviaire est proposée. Pour le système d'affaires, cette thèse analyse l'évolution des rôles des principaux acteurs dans ce paysage émergent de la maintenance numérique et l'évolution de leurs modèles économiques dans l'écosystème de la maintenance des wagons, prévoyant l'innovation potentielle des modèles économiques des équipementiers de matériel roulant (wagons), des opérateurs ferroviaires de fret et gardiens de wagons. Cette thèse offre des contributions théoriques et pratiques perspicaces. Premièrement, cette thèse fait progresser la construction théorique de l’innovation numérique intersectorielle. Un cadre stratégique d’innovation numérique intersectorielle basé sur des phénomènes est élaboré. A phenomenon-based exploratory case study Abstract This thesis captures, describes, documents, and conceptualize an unexplored yet significant phenomenon, cross-industry digital innovation, by cross-fertilizing the asset maintenance in aviation and rail freight industries. Rail is the most energy-efficient and low-emitting freight transport mode. However, the status quo of rail freight wagon maintenance in Europe presents a state of inefficiency and lack of intelligence. With the rapid development of digital technologies, condition-based and predictive maintenance represent an excellent opportunity to yield a big efficiency leap in wagon maintenance, thus potentially making rail freight transport competitive and sustainable. This thesis argues that how to leverage digital technologies to benefit rail freight wagon maintenance is not only a technical problem of how to make good use of digital technology to improve maintenance efficiency, but also a strategic problem of how to innovate business model to generate value growth for rail freight industry. When solving such complex practical problems, sometimes the best ideas come from outside your industry. As initiated by the Aero-Ferro Benchmark project, learning the best practice from aviation will contribute to rail freight success. Thus, this thesis aims to theoretically conceptualize how to carry out cross-industry digital innovation in asset maintenance, and to practically solve the problem of what rail freight can learn from the aviation industry. In this respect, this thesis reviews relevant theories in the field of innovation and strategy aiming to find theoretical support. However, based on the knowledge gaining from literature, it is found that cross-industry digital innovation is such an infant field that no well-established and well-fitting theory could directly help define, analyze and address this complex issue. This motivates us to conceptualize a new theoretical framework to explain this emerging phenomenon. To achieve this purpose, this thesis conducts an exploratory case study on digital innovation in asset maintenance in aviation and rail freight industries. We start from determining a preliminary asset maintenance system framework from two sub-system (technical system and business system) to guide the phenomenon-based theorizing. Then, an abductive reasoning and system combing approach is followed, together with literature review and case study as the main research methods. Findings from case study on the technical system argue that the maintenance strategy of rail freight wagons will undergo an imperative paradigm shift from preventive to predictive, especially in terms of utilizing digital technology and data management. Thus, a technical architecture of condition monitoring based predictive maintenance for rail freight wagons is proposed in this thesis. For the business system, this thesis analyzes the changing roles of main actors in this emerging digital maintenance landscape and the evolution of their business models in wagon maintenance ecosystem, forecasting the potential business model innovation of rolling stock(wagon) OEMs, cargo rail operators and wagon keepers. In doing so, this thesis offers insightful theoretical and practical contributions. First, this thesis contributes to advancing the theory building in cross-industry digital innovation. A phenomenon-based cross-industry digital innovation strategy framework is developed. Second, this thesis contributes to guiding the problem-solving strategy of digital innovation in wagon maintenance in rail freight industry

「Lin Ching-Hsuan Phenomenon」 is an important landmark of mass/common literature and is also a precious asset in the history literature publishing. It contains rich meaning and deep significance that require interpretation. The formation of this phenomenon is due to hot selling of the 「Buddha Series」 and therefore this research locks on the production, communication and consumption of the Buddha Ten Books. Through literature of theoretical viewpoints of the literature sociology of Robert Escarpit and the culture sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, this research attempts to explore the effect on the production of writers, communication of their works and consumption of readers by social environment and structure. The attempt is to explain the significance of 「Lin Ching-Hsuan Phenomenon」 through the pursue of the origin of hot selling of the Buddha Ten Books and by sorting out the successful publishing experience, this research can open up the vision of publishing research. In respect of production, the hard effort of continuous writing in order to make a living pushed his creative works to a higher level. The symbolic capital accumulated in the literature value production system also helped him to establish a 「Refined Image」 that was hard to rock. In addition, Lin could successfully obtain the connecting point of sophistication and simple-mind so that the elite taste and the general public characteristic could be included in the consumption group at the same time and the broad public acceptance foundation helped the 「Buddha Series」 to win the market. Due to the persistence on social benefit of literature by the writer, the 「Lin Ching-Hsuan Phenomenon」 was actually a double harvest for literature benefit and economic benefit. The 「Buddha Series」 used simple and clear and fluent language script as the expression media. The writer painstakingly diluted the refined constituent. This was not just the language style of the 「Buddha Series」, this was even the developed central thought of books written by Lin Ching-Hsuang later. Self consciously, Lin used the 「simplification」 of language and 「transparency」 of connotation to achieve 「high efficiency」 of expressing his feeling and this could adapt to the cultural preparation of many readers and from this the writer could obtain a high degree of buying support. Furthermore, the narrative characteristics of seeing the 「reason from matter」 in the Buddha Ten Books could reach the creation ideal of Lin based on literature 「activeness」. Through the blending of Buddhism and Zen philosophy and sentimental thoughts of prose, Lin Ching-Hsuan magnified the possibility of prose writing and proved the state of joint appreciation of sophistication and simple-mind in his works. The creation consciousness of Lin Ching-Hsuan matched with the operation philosophy of Chiu Ko Publishing Co. Ltd. and the production of this book series was therefore based on 「writer center」 as the significant characteristic. Under the dominance of the writer, the production of Buddha Ten Books displayed the direction of 「content priority」 and this was the successful model of the 「Buddha Series」. Following the production of Buddha Ten Books, the 「Lin Ching-Husan Doctrine」 was thereby formed resulting that the creation of Lin displayed a fixed tendency and consequently this had limited his field of vision of his writing. This could be deemed as a loss for the writer and readers. The publisher used the intrinsic quality of the book as the only source of marketing strategy of marketing benefit and therefore in respect of sales promotion operation, Chiu Ko became more passive and lacked of action. However, with the hot selling of Buddha Ten Books and his activeness in the general public society, he became his own publicity agent and sales promoter and this was the importance factor of hot selling of the Buddha Ten Books and the establishment of 「Lin Ching-Hsuan Phenomenon」. When the 「Buddha Series」 were published, the hot selling ranking list provided help to the sales of books and the social community need caused by social change allowed readers to confirm and affirm the 「symbolic value」 and 「experience value」 of this series of books. As a result, 「Lin Ching-Hsuan Phenomenon」 obtained support from a broad reader base and deep feeling identity. However, the remarriage of the author resulted in a huge difference between its creation and practicality resulting doubts on the honesty of his literature. Following the loss of the foundation of trust, the author could not avoid refusal of consumption consciousness of readers. After losing the support of the general public, the 「Lin Ching-Hsuan phenomenon」 diminished and vanished finally.

The researcher was found out that the integration curriculum can only focus on one subject and usually limited by the school educational goal and schedule, so the students lack of learning motivation in the art class. So, the purpose of this study was to using the Phenomenon-Based Project and the maker approach to the integration curriculum in order to enrichs student’s learning autonomy after the class in the elementary school. Another aim was to analysis using the phenomenon-based project to the maker program achievement by this action research. Finally, was found out how to use action research to enhance the professional ability of teaching. The phenomenon-based project to the maker approach idea encompasses the phenomenon-based project, hands-on, design thinking, and cooperative learning. The study was conducted by action research method to analysis grade 1-6 student who is interested in arts and design,also the teacher who are team teaching with the researcher by using the maker approach to phenomenon-based project in the elementary school after schhol in the flexible class at every Wednesday afternoon. The location is not only in the classroom but also using the community resourses for teaching. Through this action research can provide a reference to analysis how the phenomenon-based project for the maker approach learning outcomes, resources using strategies, also self-development in this curriculum. The research results and suggestions are as follows: (1.) Using phenomenon-based project to maker approach after class in the elementary school, the curriculum idea are through a topic to integrate the student’s learning ability, and teacher could be a coworker promote student try to use variety materials and tools, also learn the design thinking and methods in the maker pragrams in the class. (2.) Teacher could using community websites to find coworkers ,and make good use of their expertise, diversity,and interdisciplinary through the teaching resources and team teaching in the curriculum.(3.)The phenomenon-based project maker approach can enriches the student’s learning autonomy, interdisciplinary learning integration, hands-on skills, design thinking, cooperative learning in the class. (4.)An action research can develop the professional abilities include the coordination strategies,resourses integration capabilities ,also the community development to the teaching expertises by action research.

This study is to understand the aboriginal students’ change in their learning attitudes and satisfaction after the Experimental Phenomenon-based Curriculum in Bulau Village. There are two phases. Questionnaire survey was capitalized on in the first phase. The research tool was the questionnaire on the Bulau Village aboriginal students’ learning attitudes and learning satisfaction and the participants in total were seventeen, from 2015 to 2018, 17 pieces of questionnaire retrieved. The questionnaire were analyzed through descriptive statistics and adding up each one. The two who scored the highest and the lowest were interviewed by means of semi structure interview in the second phase to understand students’ change in their attitudes toward school and to offer suggestions. The results are: 1. Phenomenon-based Curriculum has brought positive influence on the aboriginal students’ learning attitudes, including the following four aspects: learning attitudes, learning methods, classroom performance, and learning assessment. 2. Phenomenon-based Curriculum has brought positive influence on the aboriginal students’ learning satisfactory, including the following four aspects: the teachers’ teaching, the class content, the teaching facilities, and the interpersonal relations. Finally, based on the research results, concrete suggestions were offered for future studies on the aboriginal education.

1 Abstract The dissertation Theoretical tools for categorization and functional explanations of relations in language is focused on linguistic categorization from the perspective of empirical gram- matical research. The primary aim is to present the theoretical and practical potential for the investigation of grammatical categories, stressing functional explanations of why cer- tain language structures are the way they are. The text is divided into two parts. (i) The first two chapters are devoted to the theoretical and methodological foundations of empirical linguistic research (including issues of metalanguage, language comparison, discreteness and gradience). Particular emphasis is placed on functional-evolutionary approaches, which describe grammar in interconnection with language use, and more specifically on func- tional explanations by means of frequency. (ii) In the following three chapters, the potential of corpus-based research is demonstrated in accordance with the principles adopted in (i). It is applied to the linguistic categories of possession and adjective comparison in Czech. Possession in Czech is described with regard to hypotheses based on statistical tendencies in language use. The proliferation of attention given to environmental issues in politics, the media and economics is distinctive for one of the biggest trend movement of the last decades. Past studies have focused on researching green marketing as an emerging topic of importance. However, as vegan advertising is increasingly commonplace on product packages, this thesis provides novel empirical research following an exploratory mixed method research model, investigating the perception of students in the south of Sweden regarding vegan advertised products. Including qualitative in-depth interviews as well as a quantitative online survey, the study provides detailed insights into consumer biases and associations with the term’s vegan and plant-based and its influence on product selection choices. Findings, as well as recommendations are submitted and completed in a conclusive discussion.

The monograph reflects theoretical and methodological rules employed to monitor corruption elements and anticorruption measures, it also provides recommendations relating to the ways and means to liquidating the causes and conditions for corruption. Under consideration are traditional and new technologies of combatting corruption, potentials of legal responsibility for corruption crimes. It also gives recommendations for national anticorruption policy improvements that are based on international law tendencies and positive legal experience of international legislation. The thesis of this paper were broadly discussed at international and national science conferences, including the Fourth and the Fifth Eurasian anticorruption forum (Moscow, 2015 and 2016), and also during the sixth session of the Conference of States — members of the UN Convention on counteracting corruption (Saint Petersburg, 2–6 Nov. 2015). It also elaborates through examples from author’s fieldwork in Tunisia, Egypt, and Jordan on four potential problems that may face researchers in coding qualitative data. These are the questions of preparation, categorization, consistency, and saturation. The chapter concludes by asking researchers to be flexible, and open to the process of trial and error in coding, to confront the data with questions before categorization, and to gather sufficient data on their topics before running their qualitative surveys.

As Csikszentmihalyi (1999) noted, creativity is a culturally bound phenomenon, not simply a mental process. In this chapter, we first discuss some differences in the conceptualization of creativity from the East–West perspective. Does “creativity” mean the same thing in Western and East Asian cultural settings? Recent research based on lay people’s definitions of creativity, including implicit and explicit theories of creativity, descriptions of creative people, and evaluations of creative products, will be highlighted. Second, as a key component of culture, language has very important implications for understanding creativity. We will review recent research on this topic, including the relationship between bilingualism and creativity and empirical discoveries from groundbreaking behavioral and neuroimaging studies on insight problem solving that involve Chinese characters.

It sketches the existential and multifaceted nature of hope and points to the array of disciplines that, over many decades and even centuries, have studied the phenomenon of hope from various scientific perspectives and in different contexts. Based on the past focus and the current challenges in psychological research on hope, it pleads for an inter- and transdisciplinary approach to the study of hope in diverse cultural contexts. After briefly introducing a cultural perspective on hope, we present the purpose, development, and research focus of the Hope Barometer international research program. We highlight the necessity to conceptualize hope in a trans-disciplinary and culture-sensitive way and then formulate a number of fundamental research questions that guided the empirical studies reported in this book. Assessing hope across cultures requires the development of measures that, on the one hand, prevent bias in the general conceptualization of hope and, on the other hand, permit the analysis of several elements and dimensions of hope, such as different hope targets, sources, and activities. Hope and its various elements and dimensions are partly rooted in diverse culturally tinted worldviews and values, displaying different correlations and predictors of hope across cultures. A succinct overview of the structure and single chapters of the book aims to show up the overall logic that guided its outline.

AbstractThis systematic literature review focuses on previous academic research on leadership in the context of the Finnish education system for minors, including early childhood education and care through the secondary level. The aim is to examine how leadership is understood in the focal studies. This is accomplished by acknowledging the leadership concepts of the studies, identifying the locus of leadership in them and ontologically differentiating their understandings of collective. According to the results, leadership was mostly defined as a collective, social phenomenon in nature. Most of these studies drew from an entity-based ontology, meaning that collective forms of leadership were seen as different types of leadership the characteristics of which were studied. Only a few studies drew from process ontology examining collective to be constituted within a flow of relations. The results are discussed in light of international educational leadership research and from the perspective of leadership research approaches in management and organisation studies. Based on our study, we encourage the future research on educational leadership to draw from various ontoepistemological approaches to strengthen the understanding of educational leadership.

AbstractClassification schemes are important groundwork for research on many topics of different business disciplines such as information systems (IS). They make investigating topics manageable by allowing researchers to delimit their work to certain taxa or types (e.g., of artifacts or firms) and provide a basis for generalization. Opposed to theoretically grounded typologies, taxonomies are empirically derived from entities of a phenomenon and therefore have several advantages, such as more detailed and exhaustive coverage. Initial guidelines for developing taxonomies in business have been proposed; however, research is still missing a clear set of applicable procedures to empirically build taxonomies. We tackle this topic by suggesting an inductive approach based on the procedures of content and cluster analysis. Each of the proposed six steps is amended with comprehensive state-of-the-art guidelines, suggestions, and formative measures of reliability and validity.

In this paper, a joint simulat ion method based on nonlinear FEM and MBD is proposed. Firstly, the force-deformation character of single vehicle is analysed using nonlinear FEM software Dytran. Then, override simulations of two train units in frontal collision are carried out using multi-body dynamics. Simulation results indicate that the pitching motion of vehicles has great effect to the overriding phenomenon. It also depends on several factors, such as collision mass, pitching frequency, height of the center of mass above the rail level. Besides that, it is shown in this paper the overriding phenomenon is more sensitive to variations in pitching frequency and height of the center of mass, compared to the factor of collision mass.

Its objectives are threefold. First, it aims to determine whether re-analysis of existing data sets is likely to yield new insights into the forms, prevalence and drivers of children’s work in agriculture in Ghana. Second, it aims to provide specific guidance on how these re-analyses might be undertaken and framed. And third, it aims to determine whether any of the available data sets might be used to map the number or density of children to the main agro-ecological zones or agricultural systems. In doing this, the review describes the nature of child work in the agricultural sector, highlighting areas that have often been ignored in the literature. The conclusion offers suggestions for future research on child labour based on our renewed understanding of the broad concept of child work.

While much has been learned in the last 25 years of the mechanism and controlling parameters in the stress corrosion cracking of pipelines, remaining gaps in knowledge of the problem are indicated. The very early years of investigations followingthe recognition of the problem were concentrated on gathering field data and that was followed by about 20 years of research, largely carried out in laboratories, aimed at obtaining an understanding of the causes of pipelines stress corrosion cracking. While there remain matters that could be studied by laboratory-based research, there appears to be a stronger case for returning to field-based studies, with help in defining such from the increased understanding that has been developed since the early field studies. This work gives an overview on the past 25 years of research concerned with the phenomenon of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in high-pressure gas pipelines. But rather than review the various research programs in chronological order, the author proceeds with his review, after a brief historical introduction, in terms of the parameters that sequentially control SCC; the parameters being chemical environment, electro-potential, stress state (especially the influence of stress cycle) and pipeline steel susceptibility. Each parameter is treated as a \chapter\" and then the current state of knowledge for that parameter is summarized at the end of the chapter. The impact that some parameters could have on the ability to accurately model SCC in pipelines is explored and approaches to control of SCC are given in the final summary and recommendations.

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated research worldwide and resulted in a large number of computational models and initiatives. Models were mostly aimed at forecast and resulted in different predictions partially since models were based on different assumptions. In fact the idea that a computational model is just an assumption attempting to explain a phenomenon has not been sufficiently explored. Moreover, the ability to combine models has not been fully realized. The Reference Model for disease progression was performing this task for years for diabetes models and recently started modeling COVID-19. The Reference Model is an ensemble of models that is optimized to fit observed disease phenomenon. The ensemble has the ability to include model components from different sources that compete and cooperate. The recent advance in this model is the ability to include models calculated in different scales, making the model the first known multi-scale ensemble model. This manuscript will review these capabilities and show how multiple models can improve our ability to comprehend the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract:
This electronic resource contains a critical summary of the problems of sovereign statehood and the responsibility of public authority in the light of an interdisciplinary systemic organic approach. The author reveals the essence and content of the categories “sovereign statehood” and “responsibility of public authority” as key factors of the state legal system for ensuring the life of the Russian Federation in the conditions of the emergence of a new world order. It is shown that the multi-valued category of “statehood” (statehood, stateness, nationhood, nationness) reflects the complexity of the concept, which characterizes the status and ability of the state to carry out its functions, and on the other hand, reflects the cultural-historical and spiritual-ideological unity of society, which is the deepest internal semantic content both preceding the state and completing its sociohistorical formation in the course of state development and historical transformations. Based on the systemic-organic approach and within the framework of the structure of the Aristotelian tetrad, the author reveals an integral model of the political and legal phenomenon of “statehood”, in which the final cause (ethion) is determined by “sovereign statehood”, which presupposes unity, integrity, actual autonomy, independence, independence and self-sufficiency states in making decisions that ensure the historical existence and development of the country. The work presents a theoretical understanding of social (public) solidarity as a legal construct and instrument of social harmony and integrity of the state-legal body of the Russian Federation. It is shown that public solidarity, as a constitutional and administrative-legal phenomenon in its positive and negative forms, creates the necessary basis for the implementation of the principle of mutual responsibility of the individual, society and state. An idea of the responsibilities of the state, its bodies and officials to the individual and society is given, the role and place of public legal responsibility of holders of power in the solidary social mechanism is outlined. In general, the results of interdisciplinary research are aimed at identifying key factors in social theory and practice that contribute to the acquisition of true independence and self-sufficiency of Russian statehood and the preservation of the civilizational foundations of a multinational Russian society. The manual will be useful to undergraduate and graduate students studying social and political sciences, and anyone interested in the theory and practice of government.

Abstract:
In the article we interpret discrete and continuous message as interrupted and constant, limited and continual text, which has specific features and a number of differences between traditional (one-dimensional) text and hypertext (multidimensional). The purpose of this study is to define the concept of “hypertext”, consideration of its characteristics and features of the structure, similarities and differences with the traditional text, including the message in the media and communication. To achieve the goal of the study, we used a number of methods typical of journalism. Empirical analysis enabled a generalized description of the subject of study, which allowed to know it as a phenomenon. With the help of generalization the characteristic and specific regularities and principles of hypertext were studied. The system method is used to identify the dependence of each element of hypertext on its place in the text system as a whole. The retrospective method helped to understand the preconditions for the emergence of hypertext, to trace the dynamics of its development. General scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction) made it possible to formulate the conclusions of the study. Thanks to hypertext and the hypertext systems, the concept of virtual reality has gained tangible meaning. In hypertext space, virtuality organically complements reality. The state of virtuality, in this case, becomes the concept of hyperreality, and all this merges into a single whole in the space of computer text. Due to its volume and multidimensionality, hypertext can arouse scientific interest as an interdisciplinary discipline. In today’s world, the phenomenon of hypertext has been the subject of numerous discussions, conferences and research in the field of social communications, linguistics and psychology. Today, a significant number of organizations conduct large-scale research based on the concepts of hypertext associations and associative navigation.

Target. Currently, the development of professional values and official behavior of civil servants are relevant for training personnel for the public authority system. One of the ways to form the personality of a civil servant who is a professional is to increase the real level of his social responsibility. The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of social responsibility of civil servants. Method or methodology of the work. The systematic, activity-based and axiological approaches were used as methodological principles in the work. The research methods were analysis and synthesis, movement from the general to the particular, comparison and analogy, movement from the abstract to the concrete, complex generalization and classification. Results. The main results of the study include the concretization of the concept of «social responsibility of civil servants», the identification of the essential properties of social responsibility, the determination of the features of its functioning, the formulation of urgent problems for further research in this aspect. Scope of the results. The scientific results of the article can be applied when conducting psychological and pedagogical research and organizing classes in educational institutions of higher education.

Current approaches for pipeline integrity management, as related to internal corrosion, largely depend on Internal Corrosion Direct Assessment (ICDA) type approach. An essential part of these assessments is to predict if corrosive water phase is in direct contact with the internal pipe wall, a phenomenon commonly called "water wetting". In general, water wetting prediction models currently used by pipe integrity engineers are lagging behind the current level understanding. The Institute for Corrosion and Multiphase Technology (ICMT) at Ohio University has developed and validated a mechanistic model that combines multiphase flow and wetting physics of oil and water on steel surfaces. This work that is the outcome of many years of focused industrially sponsored research is published in the open literature. However, its implementation into an integrity management tool has not been done yet. This PRCI project is devoted to developing a tool to predict water wetting for product pipelines as well as for crude oil pipelines and flow lines, based on Ohio University's work.

Abstract:
The article reveals and analyses a wide range of terms for the Holodomor of the 1920s and 1930s in Ukraine. The main objectives of the study are to find out the peculiarities of the linguistic presentation of the Holodomor phenomenon in scientific, popular science, and journalistic discourses, and to reveal semantic differences in the use of various terms for the Holodomor used in different languages. The main methodological bases of the study are linguistic analysis, socio-cultural method, qualitative content analysis, comparative method, etc. The method of retrospection must be used to substantiate the hypothesis. Thus, the reasons for the formation of the semantic contours of the terms “Holodomor”, “Famine”, “Great Famine”, “Terror by Famine”, “Big Hunger”, etc. were clarified. At the same time, the semantic nuances of word use are identified. As a conclusion, the authors substantiate the fundamental importance of using the term “Holodomor-genocide” in scientific circulation as the one that most accurately represents the essence of the historical phenomenon of the Holodomor. Based on the analysis of the documents, the content of the term “genocide” is formulated. It is explained that the Holodomor is genocide of the Ukrainian people, just as the Holocaust is genocide of the Jewish people. The authors prove the anti-Ukrainian orientation of the consistent and deliberate policy of Stalin and his followers against the Ukrainian nation, which culminated in the murder by starvation. These research findings are significant not only for the development of Ukrainian terminology or international terminology. They are also of great importance for modern politics, political science and historiography, and jurisprudence, especially in the context of a new genocide – the Russian Federation’s full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine. Most research on tax compliance, including research on gender differences in compliance, is based on one of two problematic sources of data. One is surveys enquiring about attitudes and beliefs about taxpaying, or actual taxpaying behaviour. The other is experiments in which people who may or may not have experience of paying different types of taxes are asked to act out roles as taxpayers in hypothetical situations. Much more accurate and reliable research is possible with access to ‘tax administrative data’, i.e. the records maintained by tax collection organisations. With tax administrative data, researchers have access to tax assessments and tax payments for specific (anonymised) individual or corporate taxpayers. Further, tax administrative data enables researchers to take account of a phenomenon largely ignored in more conventional compliance research. Tax payment is best understood not as an event, but as part of a multi-stage process of interaction between taxpayers and tax collectors. In particular, actually making a tax payment typically represents the culmination of a process that also involves: registering with the tax collecting organisation; filing annual tax returns; filing returns that indicate a payment liability; and receiving an assessment. The multi-stage character of this process raises questions about how we conceptualise and measure tax compliance. To what extent does ‘compliance’ refer to: registration, filing, accurate filing, or payment? The researchers employed this framework while using tax administrative data from the Uganda Revenue Authority to try to determine gender differences in compliance. The results are sensitive to the adoption of different definitions of compliance and subject to year-to-year changes. Finding robust answers to questions about gender differences in tax compliance is more challenging than the research literature indicates.
