Abstract:

In light of its title, ""The Petting Zoo,""? many of the poems in this collection exist on the page as animals, domestic ones mostly like cats and dogs and birds. Animals that have been tamed and trained to eat out of bowl or Petri dish, shit in certain places, and animals that have grown accustomed to the habitual pet and good good bird affirmation of owner. Katy wanna cracker? To be looked at. To be fed. To be loved. These poems are personal. They are an attempt to articulate the desires of a speaker who is in a constant state of trying to understand the world and the obsessive concerns that decorate her life: think memory, think past, think brother, think sex, think nature, empathy, imagination, abortion, old dog, abortion, love, all of which show up time and time and again throughout the collection. Touch and to be touched, to be whole and yet to break. These poems, perhaps, approach what it means to be alive, and even more specific, what it means to be alive and working through the aftermath of the past and day-to-day that for the speaker often feels broken and incomplete.

Tutkielman päätoimijat ovat jääkiekkoanalyytikko Petteri Sihvonen ja Nuori Suomi. Aihealue, jota tutkielma käsittelee on junioriurheilun maailma ja erityisesti juniorijääkiekko. Lähteinä tutkielmassa on Urheilulehti, Kiekkolehti sekä kaikki julkaisut, joissa edellämainittuja osa-alueita on käsitelty. Tavoite on tutkia Petteri Sihvosen juniorijääkiekkomielipiteitä. Sihvonen on ollut julkisuudessa äänekäs Nuoren Suomen kriitikko, mutta on myös julkaisuissaan tuottanut muihinkin urheilulajeihin soveltuvaa sisältöä. Nuoren Suomen pääpiirteet tutkielmassa myös hahmotetaan, mutta Petteri Sihvonen on tutkimuksen päähenkilö. Menetelminä ovat tässä tutkielmassa sisällönanalyysi sekä diskurssianalyysi. Tavoitteena tutkielmalla on avata urheilussa liikkuvia mielipiteitä, ja toimenpiteita, eli tuottaa eräänlaista urheilun aatemaailmaa. Asiat, jota tässä tutkielmassa sivutaan ovat sovellettavissa myös muihin urheilulajeihin. Tuloksina tutkielmassa ovat lukuisat eri mielipiteet urheilun parista, Petteri Sihvosen toimiessa mielipiteineen koko ajan isoimmassa roolissa.

Abstract:

I gränslandet mellan notbild och ljudande musik, mellan dirigent, musiker och åhörare finns något som inte går att sätta ord på. Det sker en ordlös kommunikation och ett eller flera budskap förmedlas. Ett nyskrivet verk. Egentligen skulle den första frågan vara 'varför?'. I körsång och solosång har vi dessutom texten som nav i musiken och det finns otaliga sätt att förstärka textens budskap genom den musikaliska gestaltningen. Syftet med arbetet har varit att undersöka förhållandet mellan text och musik i Petter Ekmans verk Klippor, vågor, sand för att närma sig frågan "vad vill verket kommunicera?". Analysen ger en bild av Ekmans verk som en musikalisk gestaltning av jordens skapelse där evolutionen i sig är den egentliga grunden för verket. Ekmans komposition är inte, som mycket musik, en historia berättad i toner istället för ord, utan påminner snarare om ett konstverk, en klingande skulptur där ljuden i sig har ett egenvärde. Verket berättar inte om jordens skapelse, verket är jordens skapelse.

Abstract:

Understanding the challenges parents of children with disabilities face when seeking to balance work and family is a real concern; however, these challenges have not been well studied. Parents of children with disabilities experience excess challenges in the home domain as a result of their caregiving demands that can lead to challenges in balancing family and work. This is particularly problematic for parents raising children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The present study examined the relationship between inter-domain transitions and work-family conflict in order to identify personal and situational factors that were associated with reduced conflict and parenting stress in a population of parents raising children with ASD. Results of this study demonstrated the importance of individuals’ appraisal of transitions on the relationships between inter-domain transitions and work-family conflict and inter-domain transitions and parenting stress. Further, family-supportive supervisor behaviors and segmentation preferences mitigated the experiences of WFC and parenting stress for this population. The results of this study provide important implications for organizations in seeking to help parents of children with ASD more effectively balance their work and family domains.

Abstract:

RESUMO: A dor lombar crónica (DLC) é uma das condições clínicas mais comuns e com elevados custos socioeconómicos no mundo ocidental. Estudos recentes indicam que os utentes com DLC apresentam diferentes padrões de atividade que influenciam os níveis de incapacidade funcional. Contudo, a evidência acerca destas associações é, ainda, limitada e inconclusiva. Em Portugal, não existe, do nosso conhecimento, nenhuma escala validada para a população portuguesa que meça estes padrões de atividade em utentes com DLC. Objetivos: Adaptar culturalmente a escala Patterns of Activity Measure – Pain (POAM-P) para a população portuguesa com dor lombar crónica inespecífica (DLCI) e contribuir para a sua validação. Metodologia: A versão original (inglesa) do POAM-P foi traduzida e adaptada para a língua portuguesa (POAM-P-VP) através de uma equipa multidisciplinar que incluiu tradutores, retrotradutores (cegos e independentes), peritos de diferentes áreas e utentes com DLCI, de acordo com as recomendações de linhas orientadoras atuais para este processo. A análise factorial e das propriedades psicométricas da POAM-P-VP contou com uma amostra de 132 utentes. A consistência interna foi analisada através do coeficiente alpha de Cronbach (α) e para a análise da fiabilidade teste-reteste recorreu-se ao coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (ICC:2,1). A análise da validade de construto convergente e discriminativa das componentes da POAM-P-VP foi conseguida através da aplicação da versão portuguesa da escala Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK-13-VP), e recorrendo ao cálculo do coeficiente de Spearman. Todos os cálculos estatísticos foram realizados no software IBM SPSS Statistics (versão 20). Resultados: A análise factorial permitiu identificar três componentes da POAM-P-VP (evitamento, persistência excessiva e persistência consistente com a dor), sendo estruturalmente diferentes das subescalas do POAM-P original. Estas componentes apresentaram uma consistência interna boa a elevada. As componentes 1 e 2 apresentaram uma fiabilidade teste-reteste moderada a excelente, e a componente 3 uma fiabilidade teste-reteste pobre, limitando o seu poder de uso na prática clínica e em investigação. Relativamente à validade de construto, nenhuma das hipóteses estabelecidas no estudo apriori foram verificadas, não podendo aferir acerca da relação dos padrões de atividade com a cinesiofobia, medida pelo TSK-13-VP. Porém, a componente de evitamento da POAM-P-VP parece medir conteúdos partilhados com a TSK-13-VP (rs = 0.15, p<0.048). Conclusão: A adaptação e contributo para a validação da versão portuguesa da escala POAM-P constituiu um ponto de partida para a existência de um instrumento de medição de padrões de atividade de utentes portugueses com DLC, requerendo mais estudos para a sua validação. Apesar de algumas limitações, considera-se que este estudo é de grande importância para os fisioterapeutas e investigadores que buscam um maior conhecimento e efetividade das abordagens de intervenção em utentes com dor lombar crónica.-------------- ABSTRACT: Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is one of the most common clinical conditions as well as one with high economical costs within western countries. Recent studies have shown that patients with LBP present different patterns of activity which influence their levels of functional capacity. However, evidence on these associations is still limited and inconclusive. To our knowledge, there is in Portugal no valid scale for measuring these patterns of activity in CLBP patients. Purpose: Culturally adapt the Patterns of Activity Measure – Pain (POAM-P) scale to the Portuguese population with non-specific chronic low back pain (NSLBP) and contribute to its validation. Method: The original English version of POAM-P was blindly and independently translated, back translated and adapted to the Portuguese language (POAM-P-VP) by a multidisciplinary team of translators, experts from different fields, and patients with NSLBP, according to established guidelines for this process. Factorial and psychometric properties’ analysis of POAM-P-VP comprised a sample of 132 patients. The internal consistency was analyzed based on Cronbach's alpha-coefficient (α) and for test-retest reliability analysis the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) was used. The analysis of convergent and discriminant construct validity of POAM-P-VP components was achieved through the use of the Portuguese version of the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK-13-VP), using the Spearman coefficient calculation. All statistical calculations were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics software (v.20). Results: The factor analysis allowed for the identification of three components of POAM-P-VP (avoidance, excessive persistence and pain-contingent persistence), structurally different from the original POAM-P subscales. These components demonstrated a good to high level of internal consistency. Components 1 and 2 demonstrated moderate to excellent test-retest reliability, whereas component 3 presented low test-retest reliability thus limiting its clinical and investigative use. With regard to construct validity, none of the previously established hypothesis was verified, therefore not making it possible to assess the relation between activity patterns and kinesiophobia, measured by TSK-13-VP. However, the avoidance component of POAM-P-VP seems to share measurable contents with TSK-13-VP (rs = 0.15, p<0.048). Conclusion: The adaptation and contribution to the validation of the Portuguese version of POAM-P scale, sets a starting point to the existence of a useful instrument for measuring activity patterns in Portuguese CLBP patients, requiring further studies towards its validation. Despite some limitations, this study is considered of high importance to physiotherapists as well as investigators in search of deeper knowledge and effective practical approaches on chronic low back pain patients.

Abstract:

Vi vill med denna uppsats se hur det påverkar elever att inte passa in i skolans mall, att få gå på en resursskola och vilken funktion denna skola får för eleverna. Med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer med elever som gått på en resursskola har vi besvarat detta. Genom dessa intervjuer fick vi ta del av våra nio informanters livsberättelser. I dessa har vi funnit genomgående teman som vi sedan analyserat utifrån utvalda sociologiska teorier, vilka är Tönnies Gemeinschaft och Gesellschaft, Beckers stämplingsteori, Meads interaktionsteori, Berger och Luckmanns teori om primär och sekundär socialisering. Det är viktigt att understryka att varje informant har sin egen livsberättelse och därmed sin egna unika upplevelse av sin skolgång och resursskolans betydelse. De röda trådarna vi funnit är att informanterna har en känsla av utanförskap konstruerat av skolan. De har även en stor vilja att vara självständiga, samtidigt som de har en stark längtan efter uppmärksamhet och närhet. Vi fann att resursskolan svarade deras längtan efter uppmärksamhet och närhet. Där fick de stabila relationer till vuxna förebilder och en möjlighet att förändra sin självbild.

Abstract:

An increase in outbreaks caused by zoonotic agents has brought about intensified efforts to address the transmission of infectious organisms in animal settings. In October 2002, the CDC released recommendations for the use of waterless hand sanitizer (WHS) in human healthcare settings. The question arises whether WHS may be as effective in veterinary and animal agricultural settings given some of the dissimilarities in conditions. To address this question, three studies were conducted. The first was a retrospective analysis of a Samonella agona outbreak which occurred in 2001 at the Large Animal Teaching Hospital of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM). The second evaluated the pattern of use and efficacy of hand hygiene products in the VMRCVM Large Animal Hospital. The third study assessed the efficacy of WHS among visitors to a childrenâ s petting zoo at the 2002 Virginia State Fair. Regarding the Salmonella outbreak, it is thought that a calf from the university owned dairy herd was the index case. A total of 16 equine patients acquired S. agona while hospitalized. The nosocomial disease incidence risk for in-house patients was estimated to be 33% (16/49). The LAH was closed for 7 months for cleaning, disinfection and renovation. The total cost of the outbreak was estimated to be at least $755,000. Waterless hand sanitizer proved useful in the veterinary hospital setting. When measured immediately after use, WHS reduced bacterial loads on the hands of 20 LAH personnel (P < 0.001). Before WHS use, HBC ranged from less than to 20 to 48,800 CFU/ml with a geometric mean of 6,926 CFU/ml. Counts after WHS use ranged from less than 20 to 23,400 with a geometric mean of 1,152 CFU/ml. Differences in before and after ranged from -4,000 to 48,200 CFU/ml with a median of 9,700 CFU/ml. The logarithmic reduction in bacterial load before and after WHS use was 0.78 (79.7%). In the petting zoo study, bacterial counts on the fingers of the children sampled before use of WHS ranged from 40 to 75,200 CFU/ml with a geometric mean of 8,653 CFU/ml. After WHS use, bacterial growth ranged from 19 to 58,400 CFU/ml with a geometric mean of 1,727 CFU/ml. Differences in before and after ranged from -35,600 to 59,400 CFU/ml with a median of 8,190 CFU/ml. The logarithmic reduction in bacterial load before and after WHS use was 0.70 (82.2%; P< 0.001). These data suggest that WHS may be of benefit in veterinary medicine and animal agriculture as a means to reduce nosocomial and zoonotic infections.

Abstract:

Barn och unga i Sverige mår idag allt sämre, anledningarna är många såsom psykiska och fysiska övergrepp samt högre krav i skolan och den framtida arbetsmarknaden. För att råda bot på barn och ungas psykiska ohälsa krävs många gånger samverkan mellan region och kommun. Samverkan mellan myndigheterna är lagstadgad och syftar till att skapa förutsättningar samt att myndigheter och verksamheter ska arbeta mot samma mål. Syftet med studien var därmed att undersöka hur yrkesverksamma inom dessa verksamheter såg på samverkan dem emellan samt hinder och framgångsfaktorer i den. Studiens syfte undersöktes genom kvalitativ metod där tre yrkesverksamma inom socialtjänstens fält barn och familj, och tre yrkesverksamma inom barn- och ungdomspsykiatrin intervjuades. Resultatet tolkades med hjälp av teorierna och begreppen fält, doxa och symbolisk makt, samverkan samt maktperspektivet enligt Foucault. Resultatet visade att samordnad individuell plan (SIP) gav tydlighet kring ärenden men inte alltid användes rätt. Olika lagstiftningar gav olika perspektiv, varav syn på innebörden av barnets bästa skildes åt i flera fall, därmed var verksamheterna beroende av samverkan och varandras kompetens för att barn inte skulle falla mellan stolarna. Ingen av verksamheterna ville tillskriva den andre mer makt, dock fanns förväntningar på den andre verksamhetens kompetens och handlingsutrymme. Känsla av maktlöshet uppkom då förväntningarna inte uppfylldes. Slutsatsen blev att det krävdes strukturella förutsättningar såsom gemensamma rutiner och transparens för att samverkan skulle förbättras, även rutinerna kring SIP behövde förtydligas. Samtliga respondenter efterfrågade forum för att nätverka och skapa kontakter för att stärka samverkan men med anledning av resursbrist saknades detta.
Young people in Sweden are feeling worse, due to reasons such as mental and physical abuse as well as higher demands at school and in the future labour market. In order to remedy young people's mental illness, cooperation between authorities is required. Cooperation between authorities is statutory and aims to create good conditions. The purpose of this study was to investigate how professionals in these authorities perceive cooperation, also obstacles and success factors in cooperation. The purpose of this study was examined through qualitative method, three professionals within social services and three professionals in child and adolescent psychiatry were interviewed. The result was interpreted using the theories and concepts of field, doxa and symbolic power, collaboration and the power perspective according to Foucault. The results showed that coordinated individual plan (SIP) provided clarity about cases but was not always used correctly. Different legislations gave different perspectives, thus were the concept of the best interests of the child separated, therefore the authorities depended on cooperation and other's competences. None of the respondents wanted to attribute the concept of power, however, there were expectations of other´s competence and room for maneuver. A feeling of powerlessness arised when expectations were not met. The conclusion showed that in order for cooperation to be complete, structural conditions such as common routines and transparency were required, also the routines around SIP required clarification. All respondents requested forums to network and create relationships to strengthen cooperation, but due to lack of resources this failed.

Outbreaks of human illness have been linked to visiting settings with animal contact throughout developed countries. These outbreaks demonstrate that although contact with animals in public settings can provide educational and entertainment opportunities, the potential to spread disease exists if risk-reduction tools are not implemented, proper hygiene measures aren’t practiced, and precautions are not taken and reinforced. This thesis is divided into two parts. Part one is an observational study of hand hygiene tool availability and recommendations; frequency of risky behavior; and, handwashing attempts by visitors in Kansas and Missouri, U.S., petting zoos. Part two delineates best practices for organizing events where human-animal interactions are encouraged, in hopes it will lower the risk of zoonotic disease transmission. Handwashing signs and hand hygiene stations were available at the exit of animal-contact areas in 10/13 and 8/13 petting zoos respectively. Risky behaviors were observed being performed at all petting zoos by at least one visitor. Frequently observed behaviors were: children (10/13 petting zoos) and adults (9/13 petting zoos) touching hands to face within animal-contact areas; animals licking children’s and adults’ hands (7/13 and 4/13 petting zoos, respectively); and children and adults drinking within animal-contact areas (5/13 petting zoos each). Of 574 visitors observed for hand hygiene when exiting animal-contact areas, 37% (n=214) of individuals attempted some type of hand hygiene, with male adults, female adults, and children attempting at similar rates (32%, 40%, and 37% respectively). Visitors performed hand hygiene more often when a staff member was present within or at the exit to the animal-contact area (136/231, 59%) than when no staff member was present (78/343, 23%; P < 0.001, OR = 4.863, 95% CI = 3.380–6.998), and in petting zoos where animal contact occurred over a fence (188/460, 40.9%) as opposed to visitors entering an animals’ yard for contact (26/114, 22.8%; P < 0.001, OR = 2.339, 95% CI = 1.454–3.763). Inconsistencies existed in tool availability, signage, and supervision of animal- contact. Risk communication was poor, with few petting zoos outlining risks associated with animal-contact, or providing recommendations for precautions to be taken to reduce these risks. Recommendations made in the second part of this thesis were based on these observations, recent publications, and the suggestions of many health agencies. It focuses on what event planners can do to design and plan a safer event, and what staff working at the event should be aware of in order to inform visitors and lower the risk of zoonotic disease transmission. Part two discusses two primary tools to reduce risk of zoonotic disease transmission: sanitation and awareness of risk behaviors. Keeping facilities, animals, and visitors clean, and informing visitors of risky behaviors to avoid, while reinforcing positive messages within the animal- contact area, can lower the risk of zoonotic infection. Included with the second part, is a checklist (see appendix A) designed for visitors to assess whether an event that encourages human-animal interaction poses a high or low risk. By identifying possible risk factors, teachers and parents will be able to make an informed decision about the safety of the human-animal encounter.

Background: In recent studies a lot of attention is drawn to the connection between networking and entrepreneurship. Many scholars consider successful business and networking inseparable. Taking into consideration the topicality of the two notions discussed above the authors of this thesis decided to conduct the research dedicated to these phenomena in the field that interests them most – in the field of Swedish fashion. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to gain a deeper insight into entrepreneur’s experiences to point out the role of entrepreneurial networking in the process of internationalization of a micro-sized Swedish fashion company and to contribute to the research in this field by telling its unique story. Method: To achieve the purpose of the research a narrative ethnographic research was conducted. This research strategy was chosen because it suits the purpose best by giving an opportunity to get fresh insights into the field of entrepreneurial networking from the point of view of the entrepreneur. The data collected has a narrative nature therefore narrative analysis is used to present it. The methods of gathering the data are face-to-face interview and documents. Conclusion: we can define the most important role of entrepreneurial networking on the internationalization process of Odeur as an effective accelerator and a tool to fulfil the knowledge and expertise gaps in certain areas through other actors in the network.

Abstract:

The aim of the study was to gain insight into how two different preschools work with planned reading aloud. My questions were: To what extent does planned reading aloud occur at the preschools? How do the planned situations when they read aloud look like? How do they make the choice of children’s literature to the planned reading aloud sessions? And; how can these different factors affect children's learning and development? This I have tried to find out by using a qualitative method. My material was collected through interviews and observations, these have been audio recorded and transcribed and supplemented with notes. I have during the study had three informants, Informant A, Informant B, and Informant C. The Informants Informant A and Informant B have participated in each separate interview, and at the departments where they work I have made two observations each. Informant C has been my backup informant and has participated in an interview, but I did not do any observations on the department where he/she works. My collected material was then analyzed with the help of the socio-cultural perspective and the theories of learning, development and interaction that that involves. My results showed that the two preschools worked in both partly similar and in different ways with reading aloud. These different yet similar approaches had different characteristics that showed that the work of reading aloud can be varied, enjoyable and a learning experience in many ways. The teacher plays an important role in children's learning and development in the reading aloud situations because he/she has the opportunity to see and support the child and control what books are being used and how they are used. The child also gets a chance to gain access to different cultures and contexts through the books content and can thereby learn. The study also showed that children get the opportunity to broaden their experiences and ideas in conversations with other children and adults in the situation if the teacher gives the children space to talk to each other and him/her.

The concept of ISIS returnees has begun to dominate the debate and there is a common concern that individuals who possess radicalized opinions should return to Sweden only to commit terrorist crimes. The study is based on a qualitative research method, specifically an interview methodology with semi-structured interviews. The study identifies the capacity Sweden possesses, according to experts, both socially and legally, to deal with the problems of Swedish citizens who wants to return from ISIS-controlled areas. The study also aims to examines measures that is the most suitable to apply to returnees from the expert’s perspective. An analysis based on the Transitional Justice framework identified the importance of applying both legal aspects, as well as social processes in order to handle the problems with returnees. Through a review of previous research, three courts were identified, because they previously had the ability to prosecute individuals who committed criminal acts, these are: The Ad-hoc Tribunal, the Hybrid Court and the International Criminal Court. It was therefore considered important to examine these in order to review whether the courts were a legal alternative in the discussion of returnees who committed terrorist crimes. All actors, both international and national, have lack of capacity and efficiency regarding how to handle the ISIS-returnees. The study therefore contributes to an understanding of the capacity Sweden possesses in order to handle the problem of individuals who are now returning from ISIS, and also proposes new ways to handle the problematic aspects about ISIS-returnees to Sweden.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the use of famous historical or fictional persons in place branding. It seeks to analyze the images of places that are produced, and the representations of persons that are used in branding practices. Largely this use is located within a tourist discourse, begging the question how tourists take part in the shaping of these cities. In sum, the study aims to examine constructions of the past and the present, as well as representations of gender. The main question is which parts of the history of a city are described and which sites are highlighted. Four cases studies are presented. First, the uses of the heritage connected with author Selma Lagerlöf in and around Sunne are examined, in particular her former residence, Mårbacka, now musealized. Second, Uppsala's and Småland's uses of the Carl Linnaeus heritage are surveyed. Third, the uses of inventor Johan Petter Johansson in Enköping are studied, and fourth the tourist and heritage practices around fictional police detective Kurt Wallander in Ystad are examined. Taken at face value, these examples differ from each other in many ways. The aim of the dissertation is to track these differences, but also the likenesses in practices, meaning production and visualizations. In sum, the aim of this dissertation is to examine how the productions of meaning are influenced through the use of these individuals. How do visitors influence the production on these heritage sites? Is there room for change in descriptions of persons and places? How are ideas of authenticity produced when places are viewed through one individual? What ideas of gender and masculinity are produced?

Abstract:

Innehåll/Content: Elsa Beskow was an artist and a writer who for 50 years, from the turn of the 19th century, produced a wide variety of books for children. The books have been read for several generations and are translated into multiple languages, and they are still released and appreciated. This essay is based on literature studies and several different art scientific image analysis on selected paintings from Elsa Beskow picture books. The aim is to investigate how the children and their environments are portrayed in her picture books. The theoretical approach assumes that it is possible to preform image analysis on picture book paintings. In the analysis, Beskow’s contemporary theoretical ideas about children, education and also later feminist theory have been taken into account. The methodical approach is based on different image analysis as formal and style analysis according to Wölfflin, iconographic and iconological analysis according to Panofsky, semiotic analys according to Barthes and feminist image analysis or analysis from a gender perspective. The paintings that are analysed are from Children from the Forest, The Flowers’ Festival, The Children of Hat Cottage, Emily and Daisy and Petter and Lotta’s Christmas. The results of my analysis focused on how the children's environments are portrayed. For the showing, the environments are divided into multiple categories: the physical environment (country and city, exteriors and interiors), the family situation (different family constellations), children's education and schooling including ethics and morals, norms and values, the food situation and realism were set against fantasy. The comparison of the analytical methods provided that the formal and style analysis are appropriate to use on picture book paintings, as well as the description and interpretation of the iconographic analysis. The results demonstrated that iconological and semiotic analysis, respectively, were possible but not optimal. Analysis from a gender perspective was suitable. Lastly, the literature studies gave insight into how much of Elsa Beskow's life is reflected in her books.

Abstract:

The purpose of this essay is to discuss what kind of normativity can be considered acceptable in academic theology today in Sweden. This I do by critically and comparatively analyze two debates. The first debate is from Sweden and has its origin in the book Den okände Jesus written by Cecilia Wassén och Tobias Hägerland. The second debate is an international debate about Joseph Ratzingers or Benedict XVI book Jesus of Nazareth. For the purpose of comparison I am working with three analytical questions. I am asking the different texts whether the author express any ontological assumptions or if he or she argumenting at a epistemological level, what enables intersubjective verifiability according to the author and what kind of methods does the author see as acceptable to reach historical knowledge? This questions works as a methodological cluster and the answers indicate what the authors think about acceptable normativity in academic theology. After that I identify similarities and divergences and I ́m comparing different positions and arguments. Finally I evaluate the reasonability of these positions and argument. The reader will be lead to the conclusion that intersubjective verifiability in academic theology and exegetic doesn ́t demand naturalistic or empirical points of departure but rather transparency and cognitive understandable argument which includes theological normative arguments and research. An attitude I name as methodological reciprocity.

The development and accessibility of World Wide Web technology has made on-line interactions become a new learning trend in contemporary education system. To help the children identify the parental roles, and further help them recognize the efforts of their parents, the researcher designed an on-line petting game to provide the children with a virtual world to take care of their pets. The purpose of this research study was to learn whether or not such parenting experiences would have any influences on children’s perceptions on parenting roles. It was also the researcher’s goal to understand if this experience would strengthen the parent-child relationship. Based on the review of literature about the meaning and function of parental roles and on-line interactive games, the researcher designed an on-line petting game for the subjects recruited from the Sixth Grade at Chui-Yang Elementary School in Chia Yi city. The treatment group was provided with the opportunity to play the on-line petting game, while the control group received the regular instruction. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted in both groups for the subjects’ parental role scores. The researcher then compared the results of the pre-and post-tests. The researcher also designed an open forum for the subjects to do on-line discussion for qualitative data. The results of the study included (1) the influence of on-line petting game on children’s perception about parental roles as caregivers; (2) the influence of on-line petting game on children’s perception about parental roles as discipliners; and (3) the influence of on-line petting on children’s perception of parental roles as raisers. Based on the findings and results, the researcher provided suggestions and recommendations for parent-child relationship, parental roles, and parenting skills. This research is to develop a WPU/HDI/PETTA-PETIA/MSMA/TiO2 nano- composite materials with high heat resistance, good transmittance and anti-UV properties. Firstly, the MSMA performed the silanol intermediates by hydrolysis in pH2~3 acid solution. The silanol intermediates of MSMA could successfully coupled with powder TiO2 and crosslinked to organic matrixes. The remained active Si-OH functional groups of the MSMA/TiO2 complexes can de-epoxidation bonding with PETIA acrylate monomer. Therefore, the PETIA/MSMA/TiO2 with good anti-UV composites will be successfully prepared. The WPU/HDI complexes are prepared from the condensation between WPU prepolymer and HDI diisocyanate components. Finally, in order to improve the thermal resistant and mechanical properties, the WPU/HDI complexes and PETTA and the PETIA/MSMA/TiO2 composites was covalently bonded by urethane or urea linkages to form a perfectly cross-linking structure of orgaic/inorganic nanocomposites. The bonding formation and the best weight contents of reaction components were identified by FT-IR spectra. The thermal resistance properties ,transmittance, surface resistanes, and hardness of these nanocomposites were measured by TGA, photo-UV, surface resistance meter and hardness tester respectively. Experimental results show that these nanocomposites have 90% transmittance and the best Td values is 531.74℃ which is 182.65℃ and 92.58℃ higher than those of pure WPU and acrylate monomer respectively. The surface resistanes of WPU/HDI/PETTA-PETIA/MSMA/TiO2 hybrid thin films are decreased to 9.52×109 Ω/ cm2. The hardness of these nanocomposites is 8H, and have some UV shielding properties. The morphology structure of the hybrid thin films were estimated by SEM. The results show that the optical thin films are evenly distributed with inorganic colloidal particles and the average particle size of these nanocomposites is 50~80 nm.

This thesis focuses on the relationship between cat and boy in Emily Cheney Neville’s novel It’s Like This, Cat. The protagonist is a fourteen-years-old boy named Dave Mitchell. Dave lives with his father, a lawyer, and his mother, a woman with asthma, in an apartment in New York City. Dave is a boy with untraditional traits: he doesn’t like sports, for example, and he makes money by babysitting. Dave also has a determined mind. Due to his strained relationship with his father, Dave confides only to a neighbor, Aunt Kate, a woman who likes cat and keeps many of them in her house. It is from Kate Dave has his first cat, whose name is “Cat,” because Dave insists on calling him by the name. Cat brings changes to Dave’s life and causes him a lot of troubles. When Cat runs into the basement and is in trouble there, Dave acquaints Tom, who is in the basement stealing. Tom saves Cat and becomes friends with Dave. Tom’s life transforms because of Dave and Dave’s father. Also, Dave meets his first female friend Mary, an independent girl, in Coney Island due to Cat. They become good friends because they both like cats. Furthermore, Cat makes Dave rediscover about his father’s personality and prompts Dave to reconcile with his father. In an unexpected way, Cat changes everyone around him. In American culture, there are many children’s books that portrait “dog and boy” stories, since many people consider dog-raising helpful in building up manhood for boys. In It’s Like This, Cat, Dave’s father also thinks that keeping a dog is educational for boys. Cats, on the other hand, are related to women and bad luck since the ancient times. Dave’s intended femininity, which is hinted at the beginning by the narrator of the story, is further emphasized by the action of keeping a cat. However, the cat plays a significant symbolic part in Dave’s adventure. Traditionally, women are related with cat while regarded more considerate and better at dealing with social issues. The adaption of Cat suggests that Dave’s feminine side, which makes the novel’s extraordinary charm. Dave’s feminine qualities, consequently, helps him make new friends and improves his relationship with his father. Dave’s father, in turn, learns about the educational value of keeping a cat. The caring and soft side, or the “feminine” side of him, is also elicited by Dave, Dave’s friends, and Cat. When translating this novel, I decided to use the style known as literal translation because I want to translate exactly. Literal translation will provide the reader with a faithful understanding of the written information and the story. However, in some places I have chosen semantic translation to make the work more readable for children. The strategy is applied because the book is meant for children. The semantic translation parts would enhance their comprehension of the time-and space specific information in the content. Also, the aim for this translation is to be read by Taiwanese children and teenagers; therefore, I have made use of Taiwanese vernacular language whenever the translation calls for it.

Abstract:

This thesis is an investigation of the use of various infection control practices, including hand hygiene, in companion animal veterinary clinics and a public petting zoo. Video observation of petting zoo visitors found overall hand hygiene compliance was 58% (340/583). Improved signage with offering hand sanitizer (odds ratio (OR) 3.38, p<0.001) and verbal hand hygiene reminders (OR 1.73, p=0.037) had a significant positive association with compliance. Video observation of preoperative preparation practices in ten veterinary clinics found contact times with preparatory solutions were often shorter than recommended: 10-462s for patients and 7-529s for surgeons using soap and water. Practices that did not conform to guidelines available in major companion animal surgical textbooks were commonly observed. A survey of veterinary staff found that over 80% of respondents ranked hand hygiene as of high importance in all clinical situations queried. The most frequently reported reason for not performing hand hygiene was forgetting to do so (40%, 141/353). Video observation of various infection control practices in 47 veterinary clinics found that poor sharps handling practices were common, yet only one needlestick injury was observed. Exam tables were cleaned following 76% (2015/2646) of appointments, and contact time with spray used to do so ranged from 0-4611s (mean 39s, median 9s). Appropriate personal protective clothing was worn for 72% (3518/4903) of staff-animal contacts. Video observation of hand hygiene practices in 38 veterinary clinics found overall hand hygiene compliance was 14% (1473/10894). Soap and water was used for 87% (1182/1353) of observed hand hygiene attempts with a mean contact time of 4s (median 2s, range 1-49s). A hand hygiene poster campaign had no significant effect on compliance. There is clearly room for improvement with regard to many frequently used infection control measures in veterinary clinics in Ontario. Use of active interventions to improve practices such as hand hygiene should be investigated in clinics, as such measures have been effective in other settings. The video monitoring system used in this research may be a useful tool for conducting these and similar studies in the future. Abstract:

ENGLISH ABSTRACT This thesis deals with sexual behavior of young people from fifteen till twenty-five years in the Czech Republic. Their activities are evaluated and interpreted from anthropological perspective of passage rituals. The official passage rituals of adulthood were eliminated in the western society and one universal passage ritual was crumbled in inexhaustible assemblage of particular unofficial hazy and often unclear ritual actions. This transformation begins because the man is according to Mary Douglas a ritual animal and the ritual suppressed in one form appears in another on even stronger. In this large assemblage of passage rituals of adulthood we can include for example dancing courses, school- leaving examination, gaining of the driving licence, smoking, drinking alcohol or just sexual activity. In the period of adolescence we can mark this activity as ritual because it has not the clear utilitarian procreative aim. This work presents original field research which bears on two main pillars: 1. on the quantitative questionnaire investigation and 2. on qualitative questionnaire investigation. O estudo aqui presente visa enriquecer a existente literatura no que concerne a relação entre o futebol português e a bolsa de valores. Recorrendo ao método de estimação OLS e a modelos da família ARCH, procuro explicar a variação do valor e variância das ações dos três grandes clubes portugueses de futebol mediante a sua performance desportiva para o período 2000-2014 para o Sporting Clube de Portugal e Futebol Clube do Porto e 2007-2014, para o Benfica, aquando da sua entrada em bolsa. Também realizei o controlo das expetativas do mercado ao usar os valores de apostas desportivas como aproximação e a importância marginal de cada ponto obtido numa partida com a variável “pontos relativos até à vitória”. As conclusões ditam que não há um padrão geral de ligação entre os dois mundos e expeculo que, sendo um mercado pequeno, em Portugal a compra de ações destas empresas seja mais guiada pelo coração.
The present study delves into the existing literature regarding the relationship between Portuguese football and its stock market. Using the OLS method of estimation and models of the ARCH family, I seek to explain the variation of the value and variance of the three major Portuguese football clubs recurring to their sporting performance for the period 2000-2014 for Sporting Clube de Portugal and Futebol Clube do Porto and 2007-2014 for Sport Lisboa e Benfica, by the time it was floated. I have also employed variables used in previous research, namely; betting odds as the proxy for market’s expectations and the marginal importance of each earned point in a game with the “relative points to victory” variable. The conclusions do not exhibit a clear pattern for the link between both worlds and I speculate that, given the small dimension of the market, emotions are the biggest driver for football shares’ price.
