Abstract:
The paper examines the urban originality of the poetic diptych by M. M. Shkapskaya “Peter and Paul Fortress” (1922). The author highlights the way the “Russian Bastille” is perceived in the literary tradition and in which of the reception lines the poetess fits herself. The architectural structure receives an individual author's interpretation, becoming the bride of Peter the Great in M.M. Shkapskaya`s creative world. Thus, one of the key motifs of the poetess's creativity (the motif of motherhood) develops. The study shows that the image of the Petropavlovsk bride originates in the poem “About Petersburg” (1915), written in Toulouse. The poetess likens St. Petersburg to a bride “with a smoky crumpled veil”. The unexpected feminization of the city, to which the literary tradition attributes a “masculine” character (in comparison with the “feminine” Moscow), does not receive further development in the poem, remaining unexplained. After the revolution, the image of bride reappears in Shkapskaya's poetry. Using the example of a specific locus of St. Petersburg, the poetess builds a historiosophical concept associated with Peter I. The Peter and Paul Fortress turns out to be the bride of the first Russian emperor, raising his children. Shkapskaya's poem should be considered as a response to the discussion of the early 1920s about the role of Peter I in the history of Russia. The fortress becomes a symbol of the historical existence of the city, which did not stop with the arrival of the Bolsheviks.

Barrie (the death of an older brother, the relationship with his grieving mother, his unusual marriage), trying to discover the psychoanalitical events that led to the birth of Peter Pan, as well as the true dimensions of his phantasy universe. Abstract:
In this article, we compare the phylogenetic position of various specimens of the Japanese banana (Musa basjoo) originating from the greenhouses of the St. Petersburg Botanical Garden of Peter the Great and from the Kyoto Garden using the analysis of marker sequences ITS1–5.8S rRNA–ITS2 and trnL–trnF. Samples of M. basjoo grown in the Peter the Great Botanical Garden originate from China and have some morphological differences from typical Japanese ones. In addition, we used sequences from the international GenBank database. According to the results of the analysis of ITS sequences, the M. basjoo samples form a single clade with M. itinerans and M. tonkinensis, possibly corresponding to the subsection in the section Musa. At the same time, M. basjoo from Peter the Great Botanical Garden differs in the primary sequence of the ITS1–5.8S rRNA–ITS2 from Japanese one forming a lowly supported clade with M. tonkinensis. Two M. basjoo samples collected in China, whose sequences are taken from the GenBank database, fall into a separate subclade within M. basjoo clade, possibly being a special species from this affinity group. According to the trnL–trnF chloroplast sequences, most of the M. basjoo samples also fall into the clade with M. itinerans. However, one M. basjoo specimen from the Genbank database is monophyletic with M. acuminata from a completely different clade. Possibly, the affinity group of M. basjoo is a compound hybrid complex containing plants that differ in the composition of the maternal genome.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Dynamics of the sea ice cover in Peter the Great Bay is considered, for the first time for its whole area, on the base of satellite images received in 2004-2011 from the spectroradiometers MODIS mounted on the satellites Terra and Aqua. High spatial resolution maps of the ice drift are constructed for various wind conditions. Mean values of the drift velocity and wind coefficient are calculated for four parts of the Bay. In usual conditions of winter monsoon, the ice in the central part of Peter the Great Bay drifts southward with the velocity 0.5-0.6 m/s with deviation from the wind direction about 40° to the right; the ice at the western coast drifts along the island chain with the velocity 0.1-0.4 m/s under wind of any direction in the quadrant from northwest to northeast.

Abstract:
The article tells about the life and professional path of the outstanding American lawyer and linguist Peter Mejes Tiersma. His contribution to the development of the world linguistics and the main directions of his professional activity are described. The author tells about the monographs and articles by P. Tiersma, quotes his works, lists the organizations in which he was a member. The relevance of Tiersma’s works is due to the fact that in the AngloAmerican legal system there is often a gap between the structure and meaning of written laws and their application in real life. The article presents Tiersma’s proposals for solving this problem, which are based on the interdisciplinary approach and simplification of the legal English language. The works of Russian linguists based on the opinion of this American specialist are also listed.
