Suares, Ducos Marthe-Marie. "Le vécu du deuil chez le jeune enfant entre 2 et 5 ans apres le décès d’un parent du cancer : études de la régulation émotionnelle, de l’attachement et du fonctionnement familial chez de jeunes adultes endeuillés dans leur petite enfance et de jeunes enfants accompagnés dans un dispositif thérapeutique groupal en oncologie." The bereavement of a parent in a young child between 2 and 5 years of age following a cancer attack presents specificities related to his or her young age and the quality of the family support from which he or she can benefit. Sometimes the child's emotional regulation strategies are not adapted and this early mourning will cause medium and long term psychological disorders. We wanted to better understand the risk factors for developing a pathology after a bereavement in a very young child and the protective factors that promote a resilience process. Our hypotheses concern children's skills in regulating emotions, their attachment style, family cohesion and adaptability. We also wanted to evaluate a group therapeutic device set up to accompany families. We thus studied the experience of early bereavement in a sample of 8 young adults (between 18 and 25 years old). We also selected a sample of 7 young children who had recently lost a parent from cancer. These children participated with their surviving parent in a group family therapy session (« La Petite Fille aux Allumettes »). The results show a mosaic of clinical pictures, all marked by suffering, in both young adults who had been bereaved as children and in young children. Supporting the bereaved family in a group setting improves emotional regulation and promotes the emergence of resilience in young children. The system has an assisted resilience effect on the young child. In a broader sense, the system promotes family resilience
