Abstract:
This study sets out to assess the effects of sales-related capabilities of personal selling organizations on individual sales capabilities, sales behaviors, and sales performance in cosmetics personal selling channels. Data are collected from 151 salespeople, their sales organizations, and their visiting customers (151) in South Korea. The proposed hypotheses are tested through the structural equation modelling technique. The study finds that both types of sales-related capabilities (salesforce management capabilities and personal selling capabilities) have significant positive effects on the individual sales capabilities, respectively. Further, the individual sales capability of salespeople has a stronger impact on customer-oriented sales behavior than on selling-oriented sales behavior. Similarly, selling-oriented sales behavior has a negative effect on customer satisfaction while customer-oriented sales behavior has a positive effect. The study further finds that customer-oriented sales behavior has a positive effect, while selling-oriented sales behavior has no statistically significant effect on sales performance. The relationship length, the study finds, moderates the relationship between customer-oriented sales behavior and customer satisfaction. The study offers practical and theoretical insights into understanding the nuances of sales-related capabilities of sales organizations and how they affect the individual selling capabilities of salespeople, their selling behaviors and sales performance. The results also have crucial consequences for sales organizations, as they can help sales managers design strategies and develop a culture that focuses on building and enhancing the selling capabilities of the firm and the salesforce. The present study demonstrates how the selling capabilities of the personal selling organization can influence the individual selling capabilities of the salesperson and how these could engender positive selling behaviors and sales performance.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine personal digital libraries (PDL) as a self-archiving approach, mainly based on individuals’ activities. Literature presents a wide range of perceptions of the term PDL. The rationale of using PDL and the capabilities that PDL should offer are also discussed. The key questions we focus on are: “What are the critical features of PDL?” and “Are there technologies that enable the implementation/incorporation of such capabilities in a low cost software product?” Design/methodology/approach – We focus on “a user centred view of information process”, and examine how PDL could assist individuals to “create, seek, share and manage the life of information” (Foster et al., 2010). The capabilities that PDL should support, and the related technologies, are also discussed. Then, we describe experimentation with a prototype implemented to support/provide the mentioned capabilities. It is used to clarify our view for the creation of PDL. Finally, further discussion and conclusions are presented. Findings – The technology is mature enough for building up PDLs with the specified features/capabilities. Originality/value – A new perception of the term PDLs is presented. This perception tries to combine the self-archiving approach of information, based on a low-cost tool, and the user-centred approach to manage the “life of information”. This type of library is mainly used to cover personal needs. Users benefit from this type of PDL by personalised handling of information, reduced time to search and seek specific documents in their personal collections and less possibility for broken links or unavailable documents. We must also mention that new opportunities seem to appear for offering PDL as a service in the cloud.

Abstract:
Today, the introduction of metabolomics, like other omics sciences, into clinical practice as a personal omics test that realizes the perfect analytical capabilities of this science has become an important subject. The assembled data show that the metabolome of biosamples is a collection of highly informative and accurate signatures of virtually all diseases that are widespread in the population. However, we have not seen the emergence of personalized metabolomics in clinical practice. This article analyzes the causes of this problem. The complexity of personal metabolic data analysis and its incompatibility with widely accepted data treatment in metabolomics are shown. As a result, the impossibility of translating metabolic signatures accumulated in databases into a personal test is revealed. Problem-solving strategies that may radically change the situation and realize the analytical capabilities of metabolomics in medical laboratory practice are discussed.

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the impact of business analytics (BA) capabilities on collaborative innovation, which involves the exchange of ideas and knowledge with external sources on digital innovation platforms. Based on the resource-based view (RBV), BA capabilities were divided into three dimensions: tangible, personal, and intangible. A research model is then developed to describe the relationships among BA capabilities, collaborative innovation capabilities, and collaborative innovation performance. To test the model, data were collected through a questionnaire survey from 167 companies and analyzed using structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that BA tangible capabilities have a positive impact on BA personal and intangible capabilities. Both BA personal and intangible capabilities are positively associated with collaborative innovation capability, which in turn was found to be a strong predictor of collaborative innovation performance. These results demonstrate the positive influence of BA in driving collaborative innovation performance.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to offer an operationalization of an aggregate construct and a decisive contribution to building a dynamic capabilities theory with marketing implications. The authors investigate the influence of dynamic capabilities, specifically routine creation through embedding learning and knowledge, on marketing capabilities and performance in Portugal. The authors examine the direct relationship between dynamic capabilities and marketing capabilities, which is indirectly linked to performance depending on the effectiveness of the resulting new resource configuration. Design/methodology/approach The authors used four construct dimensions: knowledge creation routines, knowledge transfer processes, marketing capabilities, and firm performance. The study was based on an inter-industry random sample of firms selected from a commercial list. During a nine-month period the authors gathered data from a questionnaire delivered in hand to participating firms and collected through in-depth personal interviews. It was filled out by directors of Portuguese firms who agreed to participate in this study. Findings First, dynamic capabilities play an important role in the evolution of marketing capabilities and the maintenance of competitive advantage. Specifically, the authors identified a link between knowledge creation routines and knowledge transfer processes with marketing capabilities. Second, the effect of dynamic capabilities on performance can be considered to be substantially indirect. However, the results also show a direct link between knowledge transfer and performance. Originality/value First, the development of a model establishing the contribution to the evolution of marketing capabilities in order to compete in a changing environment, considering the critical effect of knowledge creation and transfer in a non-static market configuration. Second, the analysis of marketing capabilities from different layers, from strategic to more operational aspects.

Abstract:
Knowledge management success is a hot issue in SMEs. It is obvious that several important factors must be considered for successful implementation, but most small and medium firms have no idea what factors should be considered most heavily. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to expand the base of knowledge in that area, and empirically test the relationship between personal capabilities within SMEs and knowledge management system success. Six factors related to personal capabilities were measured: ambition, skills, behaviour, tools and techniques, time management and personal knowledge. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant relationship between these factors and knowledge management system success.

Abstract:
The present work discusses the importance of the interaction between human beings and technology in the organization. Technology is frequently analyzed at the organizational level from two perspectives. For the Administration, the technology is relevant because it is evident that its use increases production. For Sociology, technology is assumed as a factor that modifies the structure and implies changes in power’s formal distribution. This paper exposes the perspective of organizational development provided with an inherent understanding of the human deeper dimensions. If technology is gaze at as an extension of the capabilities of human beings, then the analysis of the organization is improved with a better understanding of how people interact with technology. Whether technology is seen by people as an enhancer of their own faculties, a competitor who displaces them from their tasks, an active collaborator to achieve objectives, or the achiever of what is simply out of reach of the action of the human being; the study of organizational development need to take account of the interaction between people and technology. The people manifest several degrees of appropriation or rejection of technologies into the organization. Beyond what it is technology, a person attributes it meanings. For the members of an organization, sometimes technology represent a form of dehumanization, although in others it signifies a profound expression of their human dimension. This research is an exploration of these nuances in the organization.

Abstract:
In this study we examined three correlates of personal wealth–financial capability, buying impulsiveness, and attitudes to money in a large UK adult sample (N = 90,184). We were interested in how these psychological variables related to personal wealth controlling for well-established demographic correlates: age, education, gender, and household income. We drew on three personal wealth variables based on savings and investments, property wealth and personal items. Using correlational and regression analysis we tested three specific hypotheses which each received support. Our variables accounted for around half the variance with respect to property value, and two thirds with respect to investments. The hierarchical regression onto the savings and investment factor showed two thirds of the variance was accounted for: the demographic variables accounted for 27% of the variance, money attitudes an additional 14%; financial capability an additional 24% and buying impulsivity no additional variance. Age, income, and planning ahead were the most powerful and consistent predictors of wealth variables, with associating money with security as an important predictor for savings and investments. Implications for helping improve financial literacy and capability are noted. Limitations are acknowledged.

Abstract:
The issue of the ways to preserve and strengthen an individual’s mental health and the effective means of promoting his/her psychological well-being and life satisfaction is a new and promising area of research in modern psychology. The article presents an empirical analysis of personal resources; their development is the basis of an individual’s psychological well-being and effective functioning, when he/she can realize his/her potential, overcome life’s difficulties effectively and work productively. In this context, the correlations of the components of psychological well-being with self-determination abilities, coping strategies and actual abilities were analysed. The inner orientation, which had the greatest impact on the prognostic model of psychological well-being, correlated with awareness of the meaning of one’s own life, understanding of life goals, and the belief in the ability to achieve them. The primary actual capabilities, which determined emotional experiences in relation to oneself and in interpersonal relationships, correlated with almost all examined indicators. The linear regression analysis that was conducted showed that the primary actual capabilities, namely, hope, love, trust, and time are of special importance in an individual’s achieving one’s positive life priorities.

This article compares Spain and Sweden, dissimilar in their welfare/care, migration and employment regimes; however, both have experienced expansions of private markets for personal household services where migrants are over-represented. Using Sen’s capabilities framework as a point of departure, we explore the extent to which regime differences shaping the dynamics of personal household service markets are reflected in the capabilities and well-being of migrants employed in them. Despite variations in employment regimes and market structures, we found more similarities than differences in capabilities and well-being. Institutional contexts mattered for the access to entitlements and capabilities for alternative choices in employment, discernible in the more positive perceptions of future possibilities and potential agency to leave the sector among migrants in Sweden than in Spain. The analysis is based on 90 semi-structured interviews, as well as findings from two national migrant surveys and interviews with stakeholders.

Abstract:
The article discusses the features of the personal qualities of military personnel. For any profession, it is important to pay attention to the professional suitability of a person for the same type of activity. The armed forces are an integral part of society and thestate, therefore, the personality and psychology of actions considered in the article are reflected in every action of military personnel. The most important element of the combat capabilities of the army is the high moral and psychological state of military personnel. It is wellknown that "morale... is the most powerful weapon known to man; more powerful than the heaviest tank, than the most destructive bomb. High morale is a means that can turn defeat into victory. The moral and psychological state is a combination of psychological capabilities, the degree of mobilization and mental attitude of each serviceman for active and selfless actions in a combat situation. The most important factor in the formation and strengthening of the fighting spirit of soldiers is scientifically based psychological work with military personnel aimed at forming their mental resistance to the powerful stressors of modern combat and their psychological readiness to effectively solve combat tasks in accordance with their regular purpose.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between technological capabilities, individual impact, market agility and organizational impact in employed and self-employed personal trainers hired by fitness centers. The study was performed with 259 personal trainers. Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis and a Structural Equation Model were used. The results showed, for the employees, positive relationships between all variables, except for the relationship between individual impact and organizational impact. In contrast, for self-employed personal trainers, only the relationships of technological capabilities with market agility and individual impact, and between the latter and organizational impact, were positive. While the individual variables of the employees show positive relationships with the organizational variables analyzed, this impact could not be determined in the performance of the self-employed. These results are discussed in relation to the previous literature, and possible causes for the differences found between employees and self-employed personal trainers are pointed out. This study’s findings indicate that the promotion and consolidation of personal trainers’ technological capabilities (TCs), whether they are self-employed or employees, will be key for the fitness centers where they work, by directly influencing the individual impact of the trainers on them and in the organizational performance.

Structural equation modelling was used to analyse the data and generate the findings presented in this paper. Findings The findings indicate that owner-managers’ innovativeness and personal relations have a significant influence on the firms’ success. However, although employees’ technical skills relate positively to the firms’ success, the relationship is statistically insignificant largely because of the limited participation of workers in designing and developing the products. Practical implications The paper can enlighten owner-managers about the value of innovativeness and relational capabilities for the success of their firms. It generates insights that can guide policy makers to promote innovation and relational capabilities in the wood- and metal-manufacturing sub-sector. Originality/value The paper contributes to the debate on firms’ success by empirically testing the effect of the specific dimensions of organisational capabilities on the success of SMEs operating in a developing economy context. It widens the understanding of how organisational capabilities influence firm success.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the phenomena of an individual’s self-determination and psychological well-being, their interrelations, factors and components. These are the factors of psychological well-being that form a motivational focus on self-realization, personal autonomy, self-expression, self-acceptance, actualization of own nature, creative potential disclosure, positive relation- ships with others, belief in own effectiveness, etc., which form the individual’s self-determination capabilities. The self-determination structure includes the following components: goals, values, meanings, and awareness of own life journey, perspective of the future; motivation for self-development and self-realization; personal self-efficiency, self-attitude and autonomy; understanding of own powers and confidence in own capabilities; conscious control and realistic assessment of own achievements and prospects, involvement into the social life. Based on the performed correlation and regression analysis, we have established that self-determination of people’s behaviour is influenced by understanding of their life goals and meanings, the inner locus of control, personal autonomy and the ability to self-determination of their positions and regulation of their own lives. The main factors of self-determination, successful self-realization and personal psychological well-being are: understanding of own purposes, meanings, perspective of own future; existence of motivation for self-development and self-realisation, understanding of own powers and confidence in own capabilities, personal autonomy, and the ability to control consciously and to assess own achievements and prospects. The article substantiates that self-determination of personal development is the psychological foundation and prerequisite for personal self-realization. Successful self-realisation and personal psychological well-being is determined by existence of a personal desire for self-development and personal power revealing, evaluation of own personal powers as sufficient to successful achievement and holistic perception of life’s journey, including existence of realistic life goals. These factors stipulate goal-setting motivation and determine integration of the past, present and future in a personal psychological life space. It is substantiated that self-determination of personality development is a psychological basis for its self-realization and psychological well-being.

Abstract:
Introduction. The research paper contains a critical analysis of the graphological approach to the study of handwritten texts. The problem statement is justified by a special way of the formation of domestic psychology, which has been isolated for a long time from world tendencies. Although the study of manuscripts is not a widespread practice, graphological analysis is recognized at the highest academic level, including in the field of legal proceedings. The aim of the study is to test empirically the diagnostic potential of handwriting as a product of linguistic activity of an individual. Research Procedure. The object of empirical testing is the left-hand slopе as a deviation from the usual way of writing. The data on variability of the variable in the sample of 119 students were collected; three study groups were selected on the basis of clusterization: with left-handed, direct-handed and right-handed writing. Results. The interpretations of the left-hand slope in graphology manuals are studied, and the lack of the evolution is shown. It was find out that the descriptions are philosophizing around previously published texts with the addition of details, author’s own associations; herewith the characteristics of the handwriting are anthropomorphized and directly transferred to the characteristics of personality. A questionnaire has been developed to verify the effect of personal validation. With regard to 40% of the statements of the questionnaire, all respondents expressed a positive opinion; these formulations do not differentiate the respondents and do not have any diagnostic value. None of the graphological interpretations of the left-hand slope was really more expressive in the left-handwriting group. According to the indicators of K. Riff’s Scale of Psychological Well-being, two cases of statistically significant difference between groups with different handwriting were found: the scales of “Environmental management” and “Balance of affect”. The obtained results lead to the idea that handwriting concentrates, to a certain extent, personal characteristics of the author and is an informative psychological feature – but this interpretation must be confirmed by the data of the psycholinguistic method. In general, the research paper demonstrates that handwriting can be the subject of scientific research, to which methodological procedures recognized in modern psychology are applied.

Abstract The initial goal of this paper was to evaluate several PC-software packages as to their capabilities to carry out appropriate analysis of variance procedures and provide appropriate and necessary output. To date, most software reviews have concentrated on how well the computations for regression analysis are carried out. The reviews generally indicate the size of analysis of variance problems that can be handled, as to whether the program will do unbalanced and balanced analysis of variance computations, and as to the capability to provide multiple comparison procedures. But, such reviews do not indicate whether the claimed analyses are computed and presented correctly. Unfortunately, the grand goal of providing such comparisons for a large number of PC-based software packages is not achieved. There are at least two reasons for not completing the task.

Abstract:
The health of Hawaiian coral reefs is threatened by sunscreen ingredients (e.g., oxybenzone). This study sought to determine factors leading to the pro-environmental behavior of using reef-safe sunscreen (RSS) and identify practices hoteliers could implement to influence patrons to engage in this behavior. The study applied a framework to model pro-environmental behavior in the hospitality industry. It proposed that attitudes, personal capabilities, and habits are causal variables that influence pro-environmental intention, the predictor of pro-environmental behavior. Contextual factors were proposed as moderating variables for the relationship between pro-environmental intention and pro-environmental behavior. Past Hawaiian hotel patrons (n = 400) were the subjects for this survey. Intention to use RSS and the factors that influenced intention were investigated. Responses were analyzed using multiple linear regression and ANOVA. Results suggested that hotel patrons’ intention to use RSS was primarily influenced by three determinants: attitudes, personal capabilities, and contextual factors. Targeting the development of personal capabilities and employing contextual factors that facilitate the behavior were shown as effective methods to influence RSS use. Findings supported educational campaigns and complimentary RSS programs as practices that Hawaii hotel operators could use to influence patrons’ intention to use RSS.

Abstract:
Eastern Research Group, Inc. evaluated the current state of personal vehicle telematics data with respect to emission inventory development, identifying relative strengths and weaknesses, and how these data could align better with the needs of emission modelers. A market survey of telematics firms provided an overview of available data, and identified several candidate sources for location-based and engine-based telematics data on personal vehicles. Data were then purchased from three different vendors: StreetLight Data, Moonshadow Mobile, and Otonomo. These data were applied in case studies conducted in the Denver metro area, U.S., to assess strengths and weaknesses of telematics for developing emission inventories. Case studies included using telematics to estimate regional vehicle miles traveled (VMT) for annual emission inventories; tracking the VMT impacts of COVID shutdown; generating location- and time-specific vehicle activity inputs for project scale “hot spot” air quality analysis; and estimating the distribution of fuel fill level from real-world data, which is important for evaporative emissions. These case studies confirmed that telematics can serve a growing range of emission inventory use cases, and use of these data may help improve emission inventory accuracy. However, there are also several limitations of the data to consider in preparing emission inventories; for example, it can be difficult to assess the representativeness of telematics data because of a lack of vehicle information. The authors encourage telematics firms to cater data products more directly to the needs of emission inventory modelers, to better harness the enormous potential of these data for refining vehicle emission inventory estimates.

Abstract:
The article highlights the interpretations of the multifaceted concept of “personal potential” available in the modern scientific and pedagogical discourse. It is noted that the concept of “personal potential” primarily characterizes the internal physical and spiritual energy of a person, its active nature, focus on creative self-expression and self-realization. It is asserted that the basis of key approaches to determining personal potential lies in the understanding of the problem of personality, the development of which, starting from the last century, is being conducted until now in both Ukrainian and foreign scientific circles. The broad interpretation of the key word “potential” in the concept of “personal potential” is based on its consideration as a source and measure of a person’s capabilities and resources exploited to achieve a certain goal. Personal potential is made up of aptitudes, inclinations, interests, the desire to create something new, the manifestation of general intelligence, perseverance, purposefulness, determination, hard work, and the ability to develop personal strategies. It is emphasized that the potential should be considered in relation to the activity and interpreted not as a state of temporarily unused resources, but as an ever-increasing readiness to solve increasingly complex tasks that may arise before the individual. Personal potential is always a plane of personal growth with opportunities for self-actualization and self-improvement of the individual. The fenimenon under study is a dynamic, integrative quality of a person that characterizes the extent of his capabilities and resources for effective life activities, determines his readiness and ability for self-realization and self-improvement. Such types of human potential are outlined, such as: epistemological, axiological, creative, communicative, professional, spiritual potentials.

This article provides a framework for extending social networks to social computing. When people join social networks, such as Facebook and discussion groups, their personal computers can also join the social networks. This framework facilitates sharing of computing resources among friends and groups. Computers of friends and groups act autonomously to help each other perform various tasks. The framework combines many key technologies, including intelligent agents, multi-agent system, object space, and parallel and distributed computing, into a new computing platform, which has been successfully implemented and tested. With this framework, any person will have access to not only the computing power of his or her own personal computer but also the vast computing power of a community of computers. The collective capabilities of humans and computers working in communities will create complementary capabilities of computing to achieve behaviors that transcend those of people and computers in isolation. The future of computing is moving from personal computers to societies of computers.

Abstract:
The present study investigates the effect of salespeople’s individual sales capabilities on selling behaviors and sales performance in door-to-door personal selling channels. The data are gathered from 219 South Korean salespeople. The hypotheses are tested using the structural equation modeling technique. The study finds that salespeople's individual sales capabilities have a greater impact on customer-oriented selling behavior than sales-oriented selling behavior. Similarly, both sales-oriented and customer-oriented selling behaviors have significant positive effects on sales performance. The study also discovers that competitive intensity moderates the relationship between customer-oriented selling behavior and sales performance, but has no significant effect on the relationship between sales-oriented selling behavior and sales performance. The current research only looks at door-to-door personal selling channels in South Korea. The implication is that the impacts of individual selling capabilities may differ in other contexts. The current study demonstrates that competitive intensity can reduce the impact that a “customer orientation” has on sales performance, and thus a blend of the two orientations (SOCO) is recommended for desired performance outcomes in the face of competition. Additionally, firms should focus on creating a culture that builds and enriches the sales capabilities of salespeople.
