Abstract:
Equilibrium propagation (EP) has been proposed recently as a new neural network training algorithm based on a local learning concept, where only local information is used to calculate the weight update of the neural network. Despite the advantages of local learning, numerical iteration for solving the EP dynamic equations makes the EP algorithm less practical for realizing edge intelligence hardware. Some analog circuits have been suggested to solve the EP dynamic equations physically, not numerically, using the original EP algorithm. However, there are still a few problems in terms of circuit implementation: for example, the need for storing the free-phase solution and the lack of essential peripheral circuits for calculating and updating synaptic weights. Therefore, in this paper, a new analog circuit technique is proposed to realize the EP algorithm in practical and implementable hardware. This work has two major contributions in achieving this objective. First, the free-phase and nudge-phase solutions are calculated by the proposed analog circuits simultaneously, not at different times. With this process, analog voltage memories or digital memories with converting circuits between digital and analog domains for storing the free-phase solution temporarily can be eliminated in the proposed EP circuit. Second, a simple EP learning rule relying on a fixed amount of conductance change per programming pulse is newly proposed and implemented in peripheral circuits. The modified EP learning rule can make the weight update circuit practical and implementable without requiring the use of a complicated program verification scheme. The proposed memristor conductance update circuit is simulated and verified for training synaptic weights on memristor crossbars. The simulation results showed that the proposed EP circuit could be used for realizing on-device learning in edge intelligence hardware.

Abstract:
The ultrasonic technique is a new method for detecting the borehole sediment thickness and has been gradually developed in recent years. However, there are still several key technologies needing to be further studied and developed. This paper focuses on studying and designing the ultrasonic processing circuits including the mono-stable flip-flop circuit, the driving circuit, the amplification filtering circuit and the automatic gain control circuit. Under the environment of Multisim10.0, the designed circuits are simulated. The results show that the deigned ultrasonic driving circuit has a strong driving capacity and is capable of completely meeting the bandwidth requirements in measuring the sediment thickness by ultrasonic. The automatic gain control circuit is capable of strengthening the ultrasonic signal in a time varying mode so that the output signal can be kept stable within the given range. So it has a significant effect on the ultrasonic measurement of sediment; the designed amplification, filter bandwidth and the quality value can all meet the system requirements. Meanwhile, the integrated filter is adopted and few peripheral components are used, therefore, the system design is greatly simplified.

Abstract:
The paper presents the main results of scientific and practical research in the field of special design reengineering and counterreengineering of radioelectronic devices. Methods and means of special design reengineering of functional modules of multilayer printed circuit boards and case microcircuits are presented. The basic process design for the reengineering of multilayer printed circuits of radioelectronic products is presented. The design is based on the physical principles of destructive and non-destructive decomposing test: mechanical processing and chemical etching, stereolaser structuring, IR imaging electrothermics and X-ray analysis. The article formulates positions and methodology of the circuit analysis of the basic architecture of electrical circuits and signal processes of radio electronic products by the configuration of the printed circuit, its electronic component base and their connected topologies. The article considers methods and techniques for the reengineering of radiotechnical circuits and signals enabling to reproduce the list of the electronic component base and the essential circuit technique, as well as to study the basic circuit characteristics of the appliance in four main modes: functional, in-circuit, peripheral and identification visualization. The methods and means of authentic performance of radioelectronic devices for a number of constructive and radiotechnical identifiers are considered. Technical methods and solutions for counterreengineering of radioelectronic devices have been developed.

Abstract:
Phase change memory (PCM) is part of the strategy to develop non-volatiles memories embedded in advanced technology nodes (sub 28nm). Indeed, Flash-NOR memory is becoming more and more expensive to integrate in technologies with high permittivity dielectrics and metallic gates. The main objective of this thesis is therefore to realize tests vehicles in order to study an innovative PCM + OTS memory point and to propose solutions to fill its gaps and limitations according to the envisaged applications. The study is based on two different technologies: HCMOS9A and P28FDSOI. The first one is used as support for the development of a technological validation vehicle of the OTS+PCM memory point. The second one is used to demonstrate the surface obtained with an aggressive sizing of the memory point. Finally, an optimized readout circuit for this memory point has been realized allowing the compensation of leakage currents as well as the regulation of the bias voltages of the matrix during the reading

Abstract:
Krivelevich and Patkós conjectured in 2009 that χ(G(n, p)) ∼ χ=(G(n, p)) ∼ χ∗=(G(n, p)) for C/n < p < 1 − ε, where ε > 0. We prove this conjecture for n−1+ε1 < p < 1 − ε2 where ε1, ε2 > 0. We investigate several measures that have been proposed to indicate centrality of nodes in networks, and find examples of networks where they fail to distinguish any of the vertices nodes from one another. We develop a new method to investigate core-periphery structure, which entails identifying densely-connected core nodes and sparsely-connected periphery nodes. Finally, we present an experiment and an analysis of empirical networks, functional human brain networks. We found that reconfiguration patterns of dynamic communities can be used to classify nodes into a stiff core, a flexible periphery, and a bulk. The separation between this stiff core and flexible periphery changes as a person learns a simple motor skill and, importantly, it is a good predictor of how successful the person is at learning the skill. This temporally defined core-periphery organisation corresponds well with the core- periphery detected by the method that we proposed earlier the static networks created by averaging over the subjects dynamic functional brain networks.

Abstract:
AbstractEmotions modulate behavioral priorities via central and peripheral nervous systems. Understanding emotions from the perspective of specific neurotransmitter systems is critical, because of the central role of affect in multiple psychopathologies and the role of specific neuroreceptor systems as corresponding drug targets. Here, we provide an integrative overview of molecular imaging studies that have targeted the human emotion circuit at the level of specific neuroreceptors and transmitters. We focus specifically on opioid, dopamine, and serotonin systems, given their key role in modulating motivation and emotions, and discuss how they contribute to both healthy and pathological emotions.

Abstract:
AbstractNature-based tourism (NBT) has been positioned as being aligned with conservation objectives and capable of contributing to social and ecological sustainability in contemporary contexts of socio-ecological crisis and global change. Nevertheless, some have characterized this strategy as a capitalist accumulation circuit, a form of commodification and production of nature. In southern Patagonia, NBT exploits roads, trails, and protected areas as tourism resources. This chapter focuses on the production of frontier spaces in south Patagonia through an analysis of cross-border NBT strategies. We present an intrinsic case study of the Huella de Glaciares (Trail of the Glaciers) NBT product, situated in the Santa Cruz Province of Argentina, and the Aysén Region of Chile. Through interviews, participant observation, field visits, and documentary analysis, we identify that the Huella de Glaciares, along with other tourism routes that connect with the larger Patagonia territory, respond to renewed cross-border processes. We observed that the Huella de Glaciares NBT circuit was being advanced and promoted by the governments of both countries and by private tourism agents between Villa O’Higgins and El Chaltén, without adequate consideration of the project’s sustainability in this area of Patagonia.

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter investigates an ongoing geopolitical shift concerning the status of festivals in Taiwan—exemplified by the Taipei Film Festival and the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards—and their future challenges instigated by the global pandemic. I consider film festivals in Taiwan to be lurking on the “periphery” and argue they should not be prescribed as secondary and unnoticed (in terms of prestige and influences). Instead, we need to identify the center (Western Europe and wealthy North America) versus the periphery paradigm in which the global festival circuit continued to reinforce power relations where mid- or lower-ranking film festivals had to wrestle with the hierarchy of status. This chapter begins by tracing how the pandemic preparedness in Taiwan allowed most Taiwanese film festivals to conduct business as usual. Yet this local advantage—abetted by the country’s history and political dissension with the People’s Republic of China (PRC)—is impeded by the collateral implications from disrupted festivals worldwide. The impacts of Covid-19 continue to further expose the unequal power relations within the globalized festival network, despite the survival and strife for the success of mid-level and regional film festivals.
