Abstract:
In 2007, Routledge published Theory for Performance Studies as part of its Theory 4 series, listing Philip Auslander as author. When, in August, The Chronicle of Higher Education revealed that much of the book was lifted word-for-word from the template for the series, Theory for Religious Studies by Timothy K. Beal and William E. Deal, TDR editor Richard Schechner convened via email and phone conversations a “TDR Forum,” asking leaders in the field to respond to the book and the series. Schechner and other respondents address issues of plagiarism, corporate takeovers of academic publishing, and the dumbing down of performance studies, asking why a notable scholar such as Auslander would undertake such an egregious piece of “scholarship.” Deal and Beal answer some questions put to them by Schechner, and Routledge's Claire L'Enfant and Talia Rodgers offer their perspectives.

Full text
Abstract:
The development of efficient methods for process performance verification has drawn a lot of attention in the research community. Viability theory is a mathematical tool to identify the trajectories of a dynamical system which remains in a constraint set. In this paper, viability theory is investigated for this purpose in the case of nonlinear processes that can be represented in Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) form. In particular, verification algorithms based on the use of invariance and viability kernels and capture basin are proposed. The difficulty with the application of this theory is the computation of these sets. A Lagrangian method has been used to approximate these sets. Because of simplicity and efficient computations, zonotopes are adopted for set representation. Two new sets called Safe Work Area (SWA) and Required Performance (RP) are defined and an algorithm is proposed to use these concepts for the verification purpose. Finally, two application examples based on well-known case studies, a two-tank system and PH neutralization plant, are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:
Three level seismic fortification theory is seismic design theory of the bearing capacity, which can not really realize that no damage under minor earthquake, repairable under moderate earthquake and no collapsing under strong earthquake. In order to overcome this deficiency, American earthquake engineering and structural engineering experts have profound conclusion after the previous earthquakes, improved bearing capacity design method, put forward the theory of performance-based design.Firstly, the origin of performance-based design theory is introduced in the paper.Secondly, the main content of performance-based design theory is illustrated, which include Earthquake Hazard Levels, performance levels of building structure, target building performance levels and performance- based design methods. Finally, the paper pointes out that performance-based design theory has attracted extensive attention of Chinese researchers and engineering designer,a series of research work has been carried on,and some achievement has been made.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT:This paper argues that the notion of value has been overly simplified and narrowed to focus on economic returns. Stakeholder theory provides an appropriate lens for considering a more complex perspective of the value that stakeholders seek as well as new ways to measure it. We develop a four-factor perspective for defining value that includes, but extends beyond, the economic value stakeholders seek. To highlight its distinctiveness, we compare this perspective to three other popular performance perspectives. Recommendations are made regarding performance measurement for both academic researchers and practitioners. The stakeholder perspective on value offered in this paper draws attention to those factors that are most closely associated with building more value for stakeholders, and in so doing, allows academics to better measure it and enhances managerial ability to create it.
