Abstract:

Penelitian ini bertujun untuk mendeskripsikan peran supervisi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan profesionalisme guru di SMP Negeri 3 Hamparan Perak Kabupaten Deli Serdang, yaitu: 1) Untuk mengetahui teknik supervisi Kepada Sekolah dalam meningkatkan profesionalisme guru di di SMP Negeri 3 Hamparan Perak Kabupaten Deli Serdang, 2) Untuk mengetahui model supervisi Kepada Sekolah dalam melakukan supervisi di SMP Negeri 3 Hamparan Perak Kabupaten Deli Serdang, 3) Untuk mengetahui evaluasi supervisi yang dilaksanakan Kepada Sekolah dalam meningkatkan profesionalisme guru di SMP Negeri 3 Hamparan Perak Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dekriftif, Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil temuan penelitia ini yaitu: (1) Teknik supervisi Kepala Sekolah SMP Negeri 3 Hamparan Perak Kabupaten Deli Serdang dilakukan dengan cara teknik perorangan dan teknik kelompok. Teknik perorangan dilakukan dengan cara kunjungan kelas, mengadakan pengamatan, membimbing guru mengatasi problem yang dihadapi siswa. Sedangkan teknik kelompok dilakukan dengan cara mengadakan rapat dewan guru, diskusi kelompok, dan mengikutsertakan guru dalam pelatihan untuk meningkatkan profesional guru; (2) Model supervisi Kepala Sekolah SMP Negeri 3 Hamparan Perak Kabupaten Deli Serdang yang dilakukan adalah model supervisi klinis, dimana Kepala Sekolah melakukan suatu proses mengembangkan profesionalnya dalam kegiatan mengajar; (3) Evaluasi supervisi yang dilakukan Kepala Sekolah SMP Negeri 3 Hamparan Perak Kabupaten Deli Serdang dengan cara menganalisis hasil evaluasi terhadap pelaksanaan supervisi dan melakukan tindak lanjut hasil supervisi dengan mengikutsertakan guru dalam pelatihan.

Kasus yang ditemukan di Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak adalah akumulasi kontainer lebih dari 6-7 hari. Hal ini tentu sangat merugikan berbagai pihak. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk mencari tahu dan menganalisa peranan kepolisian nasional terhadap penurunan tingkat waktu berdiam di Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak. Semakin lama waktu tinggal, semakin tinggi biaya logistik barang. Dalam studi ini metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah pengamatan, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang mempengaruhi lamanya waktu tinggal hingga 6 sampai 7 hari di Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak masih banyak yang tidak dilaporkan punahnya ilegal, kerjasama lintas sektoral di Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak Surabaya dan gugus tugas waktu tinggal masih belum optimal dan kurang perilaku kesadaran terhadap Importir. Peran polisi dalam mengurangi waktu tinggal di Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak seperti melaksanakan kegiatan tindakan di lapangan sebagai tindak lanjut pengawasan waktu tinggal untuk mencegah punahnya ilegal; melakukan pengamatan dan patroli ke tempat, objek di dalam terminal kontainer; melaksanakan pengamanan pada saat tinggal pos; melampirkan stiker peringatan ke kontainer yang telah ada selama lebih dari sepuluh hari; koordinasi dengan lembaga lintas sektoral, dan melakukan kegiatan informasi dan komunikasi melalui media.

Abstract:

Makalah ini membincangkan Misa Melayu sebagai sumber dokumen penting pengkajian aspek ekonomi Perak (1728–1792). Misa Melayu sering digunakan sebagai dokumen penting dalam penulisan sejarah Perak sebelum ini. Misalnya, dokumen ini sering digunakan untuk membincangkan aspek politik (susur galur atau salasilah sultan-sultan yang mentadbir Perak dan peristiwa-peritiwa politik penting yang melanda Perak) serta aspek sosial (struktur sosial dan adat istiadat negeri Perak) pada kurun ke-18. Namun permasalahannya, dokumen ini jarang diketengahkan dalam pengkajian ekonomi Perak pada kurun yang sama. Ringkasnya, makalah ini mendapati bahawa melalui Misa Melayu, aspek ekonomi utama Perak pada kurun ke-18 dapat diketahui dengan jelas. Sebagai contoh, Misa Melayu membuktikan kemampuan Perak memenuhi jumlah permintaan bijih timah oleh Belanda yang merupakan rakan dagang utama Perak. Selain daripada bijih timah, gajah juga merupakan dagangan utama Perak dan gajah dari Perak dieksport sehingga ke India. Penulisan makalah ini merujuk kepada Misa Melayu sebagai dokumen primer utama selain rekod asing iaitu perjanjian-perjanjian perdagangan antara Syarikat Hindia Belanda dengan Perak.

Abstract:

Limbah perak (Ag+) merupakan limbah laboratorium cair yang dihasilkan dari proses pewarnaan perak (silver staining dan immunoblotting). Dalam satu tahun Fakultas Biologi menghasilkan 5-10 liter limbah perak. Limbah ini masih mengandung kadar perak AgNO3 sebanyak 149,5 ppm. Kadar tersebut masih cukup tinggi untuk dimanfaatkan, namun tidak dapat digunakan kembali dalam proses pewarnaan. Pemanfaatan kembali limbah perak dapat dilakukan dengan mengubah partikel perak (Ag+) menjadi nanopartikel-perak (Ag-NPs) melalui proses bioreduksi. Bioreduksi limbah perak dilakukan dengan penambahan eksopolisakarida yang dihasilkan oleh B.subtilis (1:3) selama 52 hari. Nanopartikel-perak yang dihasilkan dimonitoring dengan Spektrofotometer melalui pembentukan kurva plasmon resonans pada panjang gelombang 400-500 nm. Nanopartikel-perak dari proses bioreduksi limbah tersebut mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri secara in-vitro (teknik pour plate) dapat menghambat bakteri e-coli FNCC55 dibandingkan dengan kontrol.

Perak adalah logam yang digunakan secara luas dalam berbagai industri, meliputi fotografi (bahan dasar film dan kertas foto), elektronik, perhiasan, campuran logam (alloy) penghambat korosi, dan sebagainya sampai keskala laboratorium. Kandungan perak dalam limbah sebesar lebih dari 2000 mg/Lyang berpotensi menyebabkan toksisitas lingkungan dan kesehatan bagi makhluk hidup. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan pemisahan logam perak dalam limbah dengan metode Emulsion Liquid Membrane (ELM) dengan campuran pembawa D2EHPA-TBP yang memiliki efektivitas dan selektivitas yang tinggi terhadap ion logam Ag. Produk perak yang didapatkan sebagai penyedia perak kedua. Hasil yang didapatkan dengan penggunaan pembawa D2EHPA-TBP lebih efektif untuk mengambil perak dari limbah daripada larutan Ag+. Abstract:

Keberhasilan dalam budidaya tanaman mentimun perlu memperhatikan faktor genetik dan faktor lingkungan diantaranya dengan mulsa dan pupuk yang digunakan. Mulsa plastik hitam perak merupakan salah satu cara untuk mempertahankan produktivitas dan hasil optimal dari pengaruh lingkungan sekitar. Selain penggunaan mulsa untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil mentimun dapat dilakukan pemupukan. Pupuk anorganik memiliki keunggulan mudah larut sehingga lebih cepat diserap oleh tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh penggunaan mulsa, kombinasi pupuk ZA dan urea serta interaksinya pada pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman mentimun. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Jatimulyo, Universitas Brawijaya, Kota Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terbagi (RPT) yang terdiri dari 2 faktor, yaitu petak utama berupa mulsa terdiri dari tanpa mulsa (M1), mulsa plastik hitam perak (M2), dan anak petak berupa pupuk N yaitu ZA 100% (N1), Urea 100% (N2), Urea 50% + ZA 50% (N3), Urea 75% + ZA 25% (N4), Urea (25%) : ZA (75%) dengan 3 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa panjang tanaman mentimun mengalami peningkatan 17,38% akibat penggunaan mulsa plastik hitam perak, sedangkan penggunaan urea 100% mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan 25,15% lebih tinggi daripada ZA 100% namun kombinasi ZA dan urea tidak menunjukkan panjang tanaman yang berbeda. Hasil panen mentimun menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan mulsa dengan kombinasi pupuk urea 50% + ZA 50% menghasilkan panen 25,77% lebih tinggi dibandingkan perlakuan lain, sedangkan penggunaan mulsa dengan pupuk urea 100% dan kombinasi pupuk urea dan ZA yang lain menunjukkan hasil yang tidak berbeda nyata.

Abstract:

Nanopartikel perak memiliki banyak aplikasi di bidang elektronik, kesehatan, tekstil, sensor, hingga sel surya. Untuk menjamin keberlangsungan pemanfaat nanopartikel perak, metode sintesis yang ramah lingkungan sangat diperlukan. Nanopartikel perak dapat disintesis dengan menggunakan agen pereduksi alami dari ekstrak kulit buah manggis. Sintesis dilakukan dengan mencampurkan larutan perak nitrat (AgNO3) dan PEG 6000 dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak kulit buah manggis 10, 20, 35, dan 50 mL pada suhu 600 ˚C selama 1 jam. Ukuran nanopartikel perak terbentuk diestimasi dari posisi puncak resonansi plasmon permukaan yang diperoleh dari pengukuran UV-Vis. Terbentuknya nanopartikel perak terbukti dari terbentuknya puncak tajam pada difraktogram sinar-X tanpa ada puncak impuritas. Ukuran nanopartikel perak yang terbentuk semakin besar dengan makin tingginya kosentrasi ekstrak kulit buah manggis, yaitu secara berurutan adalah 50 nm, 55 nm, 60 nm, dan 70 nm. Hasil ini menunjukkan peluang untuk mengontrol ukuran nanopartikel perak melalui variasi kosentrasi ektrak kulit buah manggis.

Abstract:

The thesis provides the first description and analysis of long-term economic change and development in the Peninsular Malaysian State of Perak from about 1800 to 2000. Although a considerable number of studies have been undertaken on the colonial economy of Perak focusing on tin and rubber production, given the vital importance of these commodities and of Perak's position in the British imperial enterprise, very little research has been done in relating the state's pre-colonial status and its colonial development to post-independence transformations. The thesis coordinates and re-evaluates the material on colonial period concentrating particularly on the available statistical data and the relations between tin, rubber and rice. It then links colonial developments with contemporary change by examining the three key economic elements of land, labour and capital, and utilises a considerable amount of government economic data on the recent period. It also considers the relations between the policies and practices of the colonial and post-colonial state and processes of economic development. It argues that the role of the state, though different and changing, has been vitally important in promoting and underpinning economic transformations from British intervention in 1874 until the present. The major change can be characterised as the transition from a primarily 'natural' economy to a 'state capitalist' one.

Abstract:

This thesis is concerned with how the Second World War is memorialised in Perak, Malaysia. It considers memoryscapes (or memory practices and sites) within the state dedicated to the war, established not only by state agencies but also grassroots actors. In terms of findings, the thesis first highlights how the Perak state has sought to ‘postcolonialise’ (read: ‘nationalise’) public representations of what was an event that took place when Malaysia was still part of ‘colonial’ Malaya, and the issues associated with it, particularly how, despite efforts to make the war (and its attendant memoryscapes) something its people could identify with, the state has been criticised as exclusionary of ‘local’ war stories and partial to a ‘foreign’ audience, thus alienating its population and reproducing much of how war commemoration in Perak was when Malaysia was under British rule before. Generally, the thesis demonstrates the fraught nature of memoryscapes and how there can be fundamental limits to which such ‘postcolonialising’ projects may be successfully realised on the ground. The second concern of the thesis is on the ways in which war narratives of the war that are marginalised within official representations may still survive in other forms and on other sub-national scales. In interrogating these memoryscapes ‘from below’, the thesis reveals that, while some locals prefer to mark the war in a more private fashion so as to covertly resist state tendencies to be exclusionary, or out of fear of reprisals from the state (due to remembering controversial aspects of the war past), the most widely-cited reason is still the simple desire to remember according to local customs, religious beliefs and socio-cultural norms. In doing so, it showcases alternative forms of memory-making that problematises traditional understandings of war commemoration common within prevailing literature, and highlights ways in which contestations against elite memory and heritage practices may not always emerge in oppositional fashion or enacted in clearly overt and public ways but also through the absence of voice. Additionally, the thesis also challenges the tendency to celebrate grassroots practices of memory-making as necessarily ‘recuperative’ of official exclusions of the past. As the situation in Perak exemplifies, these too can be just as political and exclusionary, where, in many cases, the locals themselves may represent barriers to emergent war memories as much as they can be the champions. Lastly, the thesis touches upon the ways in which ‘the material’ may be appropriated towards forgetting the war, not only officially by the state but also by those who went through the war as ordinary civilians. It then illustrates how, despite efforts ‘to put the past behind them’, sometimes memories of war can still ‘emerge unbidden’ to involuntarily force individuals to confront the war past even when they would rather not recall it. In doing so, the thesis demonstrates how material legacies of the war can be utilised not only to presence, but also to absence, the war, although at times ‘the material’ too can undermine efforts to render the past passé. More broadly, the thesis thus contributes not only to debates about postcolonial memory-making and politics, and the complex nature of grassroots remembrances, but also the role of materiality within processes of forgetting, specifically in showing how ‘the material’ can at times exercise agency on humans as much as the reverse is possible. The thesis is based on data collected via textual analysis, participant observation and interviews.

Abstract:

Unemployment was a major problem faced by the ex-servicemen in Malaysia since the early seventies. Recognising the needs of ex-servicemen, the government through the organisation of the Veterans Affairs Division (VAD) introduced the resettlement program for the ex-servicemen with the aim of assisting the veterans to find employment. However despite the implementation of training programs, the rate of unemployment among the ex-servicemen was relatively very high, whilst the extent of the as well as the underlying factors remained unknown, with the resultant ambiguity of the role of VAD. This case study was designed to investigate issues related to the employment situation of the ex-servicemen by surveying those in the capital territory of Kuala Lumpur and the states of Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, who participated in resettlement training and were discharged in 1993. In addition the states of Johor, Perak and Penang were included for the survey on the non participants of resettlement training. The study found that the rate of employment of the ex-servicemen in the states surveyed was substantially lower than that of the national average. The study also found that participation in the resettlement training organised by the VAD had significant effect on increasing the rate of employment besides higher income, shorter period of unemployment, better readjustment and higher satisfaction with civilian life. Among the factors analysed, ability to speak English and the economic activity and the stage of development of the states were found to have significance influence on the rate of employment. Other factors found to be associated with the employment of the ex-servicemen included age, education level, rank, urban or rural background, and matching of training to application. Based on the findings of this case study recommendations were made to improve the selectivity of, and access to, resettlement training by all ex-servicemen. Other recommendations included improving the standard of education and spoken English before discharge, lowering age of discharge with pension, provision of information related to employment and counselling service, setting up of data bank of ex-servicemen and further research.

La enfermedad postcosecha más importante producida por B. cinerea en peras almacenadas en frío corresponde a la pudrición calicinal, cuyo control se realiza en floración, período en que el hongo produce infecciones latentes que se manifiestan en pudrición tras la madurez de la fruta. En años con primaveras húmedas se ha observado un aumento de la incidencia de la enfermedad, lo cual ha generado cuestionamientos acerca de los tratamientos de control e incertidumbre sobre la capacidad del patógeno de infectar los frutos durante su crecimiento. Los objetivos del presente estudio fueron determinar la ocurrencia de infecciones en campo durante el período de crecimiento de frutos bajo condiciones artificiales de alta humedad con y sin inoculación del patógeno, y determinar el nivel de infección en precosecha para evaluar la efectividad de las medidas de control realizadas por los productores en dos huertos comerciales de la zona central de Chile. En uno de los huertos estudiados se determinó que las inoculaciones lograron generar infecciones en el período de crecimiento de frutos, lo que permite concluir que el patógeno efectivamente puede infectar peras cv. Packham’s Triumph durante el crecimiento de los frutos. Por otro lado, el patógeno fue recuperado desde la cavidad calicinal de fruta no inoculada en crecimiento en ambos huertos, observándose también pudrición calicinal en postcosecha, lo que sería consecuencia de la inefectividad de las aplicaciones de fungicidas realizadas en floración por los productores. Este trabajo establece una base para la realización de estudios en campo en pudrición calicinal de perales en Chile.
Botrytis cinerea Pers. causes significant levels of postharvest decay that may be over 10% in pear fruit in Chile, especially in the cultivar Packham's Triumph. Calyx-end rot is the most important postharvest disease caused by B. cinerea in stored pears, and its control is achieved in the flowering period, when the fungus produces latent infections that manifest in fruit decay after ripening. It has been observed that there is an increased incidence of the disease in years with humid and rainy conditions during spring and summer, which has raised questions about control treatments and pathogen's ability to infect fruit during its growth under these conditions. The objectives of this study were to determine the occurrence of infections in the orchard during fruit growth under artificial high humidity conditions with and without pathogen inoculation, and to determine the level of preharvest infection in order to evaluate the efficacy of control measures taken by the growers in two commercial orchards of central Chile. In one of the studied orchards, inoculations resulted in infections during fruit growth, leading to the conclusion that the pathogen can effectively infect Packham's Triumph pears during this period. Moreover, the pathogen was isolated from the calyx cavity of non-inoculated fruit during the growth period, and postharvest calyx-end decay was also observed, which would indicate the inefficacy of fungicide applications performed by the growers. This work provides basic information for further field studies on calyx-end rot of pears in Chile.

Abstract:

Peak performance is defined as an "episode of superior functioning" where an individual performs up to (and sometimes exceeds) their full potential (Privette, 1983, p. 1361). Most individuals do not consistently experience episodes of peak performance. After accounting for biological factors, motivation, and external constraints, the inability to achieve peak performance consistently is due to the challenge of successfully selecting and accessing knowledge and skills on demand while under pressure (Brown, 2009). This thesis describes the psychology of peak performance and skill training for peak performance. A peak performance training program is designed specifically for business professionals. The program was delivered to business professionals and a focus group was conducted to gather data on how to improve the training program. Grounded theory was used as the method of inquiry during data analysis. Results indicated that participants reacted favorably to the training content, training design, variety of training activities, and the training's applicability, but had unfavorable reactions to the training duration, comprehension of concepts, training materials, utility, and training conclusions.

En los frutos mínimamente procesados en fresco (MPF) el tipo de corte y la temperatura son factores a considerar para mantener una calidad y apariencia adecuada. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar los efectos del corte y la temperatura de conservación sobre la actividad metabólica, color, firmeza, perfil aromático y concentración de ácidos orgánicos y azúcares de peras (Pyrus communis L.) var. Packham’s Triumph MPF. Los frutos enteros fueron lavados, pelados, trozados según el tipo de corte, envasado en tarrinas y posteriormente almacenado a 5 u 8º C durante 8 días. El tipo de corte y la temperatura tuvieron un efecto significativo sobre la concentración de compuestos aromáticos volátiles, ácidos orgánicos y azúcares. Además mostró diferencias significativas en la tasa respiratoria y de producción de etileno, siendo menor en cortes en cascos y a temperaturas de 5º C de almacenamiento. El tipo de corte presentó diferencias significativas en el color, presentando menor pardeamiento en cascos y en la firmeza, siendo mayor en cascos.
For the minimally processed fresh fruit (MPF), the type of cut and temperature are main factors in order to maintain their good quality and appearance. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of cut type and to storage on the metabolic activity, colour, firmness, aromatic profile and organic acid and sugar contents on Packham’s Triumph pears MPF (Pyrus communis L.). Whole fruits were washed, peeled and sliced according to the type of cut. The pieces were packaged plastic container and stored during 8 days in 5 or 8º C. The type of cut and storage temperature had an important effect on the aromatic volatile compounds, organic acid and sugar contents. Also showed significant effects on respiratory rate and ethylene emission, being less in wedges and 5º C of storage. The type of cut showed significant effects in the colour being lower in wedges and firmness, being higher in wedges. The storage temperature being lower at 5 than 8º C.

El aumento de la densidad poblacional, aumento de edificios con calles de evacuación constantes hace un siglo, construcciones de carreteras que cercenan y segmentan barrios. Aumenta la entalpia urbana colaborando en la generación de sociopatologias. La situación en que se encuentra Chile, es desfavorable en términos de índices de trastornos mentales, somos el segundo país con la mayor tasa de suicidios en la población entre 10 y 19 años. Santiago no se escapa de estos trastornos posicionándose en el primer lugar en porcentajes de depresión en dicha población, 30% entre las ciudades más importantes del mundo, siendo el 2º lugar Manchester con un 17%. Es así como se configura un mapa de relaciones en donde todo indica que existe una crisis en la institución hospitalaria psiquiátrica y es necesario una reevaluación del modelo psiquiátrico para 1º la mejoría de los pacientes, 2º la integración social para con la comunidad, 3º un modelo de gestión que sustente de mejor forma el desarrollo de la salud mental y 4º la educación y difusión de los temas psiquiátricos. El objetivo de la memoria es desarrollar una propuesta arquitectónica que dé respuesta a los requerimientos espaciales que necesitan las personas con trastornos mentales, incorporar en este desarrollo un área de extensión que funcione como integrador espacial de la comunidad al hospital y viceversa configurándose como espacio público, y que además funcione como ventana a la educación frente a temas de salud mental. Se elegirá un hospital psiquiátrico de Chile que presente una deficiencia en infraestructura y problemas a nivel hospitalario como caso de estudio, en el cual estos objetivos se puedan aplicar.

Abstract:

Analysis of the peak-to-peak output current ripple amplitude for multiphase and multilevel inverters is presented in this PhD thesis. The current ripple is calculated on the basis of the alternating voltage component, and peak-to-peak value is defined by the current slopes and application times of the voltage levels in a switching period. Detailed analytical expressions of peak-to-peak current ripple distribution over a fundamental period are given as function of the modulation index. For all the cases, reference is made to centered and symmetrical switching patterns, generated either by carrier-based or space vector PWM. Starting from the definition and the analysis of the output current ripple in three-phase two-level inverters, the theoretical developments have been extended to the case of multiphase inverters, with emphasis on the five- and seven-phase inverters. The instantaneous current ripple is introduced for a generic balanced multiphase loads consisting of series RL impedance and ac back emf (RLE). Simplified and effective expressions to account for the maximum of the output current ripple have been defined. The peak-to-peak current ripple diagrams are presented and discussed. The analysis of the output current ripple has been extended also to multilevel inverters, specifically three-phase three-level inverters. Also in this case, the current ripple analysis is carried out for a balanced three-phase system consisting of series RL impedance and ac back emf (RLE), representing both motor loads and grid-connected applications. The peak-to-peak current ripple diagrams are presented and discussed. In addition, simulation and experimental results are carried out to prove the validity of the analytical developments in all the cases. The cases with different phase numbers and with different number of levels are compared among them, and some useful conclusions have been pointed out. Furthermore, some application examples are given.

Abstract:

Load shifting, that is, moving demand from peak to off-peak hours, is an important type of demand response. It can reduce the overall operating costs of a power system and improve the reliability of the power grid. This study estimates the financial implications of load shifting in the Saudi industrial sector. We use a national Saudi power system dispatch optimization model to simulate three scenarios. With this model, we quantify the impacts of shifting industrial loads from the peak summer to the off-peak winter months, keeping industrial electricity tariffs unchanged.
