Abstract:
ABSTRACT The notion that pastoral theology is less intellectual than biblical, systematic and historical theology is also considered only as applied theology makes theology often overlooked. Efforts to make pastoral theology a branch of theology parallel to each other, require a long struggle by European and American pastoral theologians. The long struggle that produced positive results also felt its impact in the development of pastoral theology in Indonesia. However, the concept of pastoral theology developed in the Western world and then brought to Indonesia influenced the concept of Indonesian pastoral theology. The style and color of Western pastoral theology is still very thick, because it needs to be contextualized according to the conditions of Indonesian society. Western pastoral theology is thick with its individualism, while the Indonesian context is very diverse. For Indonesia with the context of its plural society with all its unique contexts and problems, pastoral theology is a theological reflection on and in the context of pastoral care. The correlative theology method is seen as a theological method that is relevant to the Indonesian context.

Abstract:
Abstract: Pastoral theology in Indonesia is inherited from the West. Because the Indonesian context is not the same as that of Western society, theologians in Indonesia need to develop pastoral theology that is relevant to the Indonesian context. This article is an effort to engage with pastoral theology in a way that is relevant to Indonesia. This effort departs from an understanding of the church in Indonesia, which is open and serving. In relation to the traditional understanding of theology and its branches, pastoral theology in Indonesia can be understood as a field of study on theory and practice of pastoral ministry. In addition, pastoral theology is a form of contextual theological reflection. Correlation is a pastoral theological method relevant to Indonesia, because in this method the process of theology starts from pastoral experience. Thus it is closer to the reality of Indonesian life, but this method does not forget Christian message. In order to gain a wider pastoral theological perspective, the understanding of pastoral ministry in Indonesia must be holistic, which includes individual, societal, and environmental perspectives. Keywords: Church, pastoral theology, understanding of pastoral theology, deductive method, inductive method, method of correlation, holistic pastoral ministry. Kata-kata kunci: Gereja, teologi pastoral, pengertian tentang teologi pastoral, metode deduktif, metode induktif, metode korelasi, pelayanan pastoral holistik.

AbstractThe article maps the major trends and movements in the field of pastoral care and counselling and pastoral theology during the last ten years as they are reflected in publications. The areas which receive focused attention are the influence of and response to postmodern culture; renewed interest in ethical problems and the way these are attended to; the phenomenal contributions by feminist and womanist pastoral theologians; the much more prominent use of theological language rather than psychological jargon; renewed interest in the importance of pastoral anthropology; the recurring theme of spirituality; the attention given to the communal and contextual aspects of pastoral work; the effort to recognise the importance of making provision for congregational pastoral counselling; and the new emphasis on narrative and outcomes-based models of pastoral counselling. A model is proposed for pastoral work which recognises four distinct forms of care: mutual care, pastoral care, pastoral counselling and pastoral therapy.

Abstract:
This article seeks to delve into Karl Rahner’s conception of practical theology (pastoral theology). The first part is an historical trajectory of pastoral theology, depicting the major problems prior to Rahner: the scientific character of pastoral theology, the personnel of pastoral ministry, the eschatological character of pastoral theology, and its theological foundation and its method. The second part analyses the conception of Rahner’s practical theology: his material and formal object, his method centered on scientific-theological analyses on the present situation and its relation to other sciences. Finally, a critical analysis portraying that which is perceived as the most relevant contribution and the weaknesses of his conception of practical theology.

Abstract:
The recipients and providers of pastoral care live in complex contexts in which they are shaped by not only Christian faith but multiple social, economic, political and cultural factors. This article traces current thinking in pastoral theology by eschewing the limiting of pastoral to ecclesial contexts and, instead, considers the more encompassing interests of pastoral-practical theology. Using the analogy of networks, three nodes of interest are identified in current literature: the parameters, coherence and dynamics of pastoral-practical theology. The scope of the discipline is discussed. Pressing challenges of normalcy and loyalty to traditions and experiences are explored. Questions of how people connect with God and with one another are considered. It is concluded that pastoral-practical theology is discomfiting because it complexifies experience, practice and doctrinal traditions. It is presented here as a discipline that looks not for one correct interpretation but inquires into how and why interpreters arrive at different understandings of similar practices.

Abstract:
Pastoral Theology has its own challenges facing this postmodern era. Postmodern phenomena that prioritize rationality, pragmatism, and relativism make truths subjective in nature based on context. The reluctance to place the absolute truth of the Bible even more so makes pastoral theology at a point that continues to erode. Where its role continues to be sued and replaced by other disciplines. Now the pastoral theology is questioned for its relevance to be able to provide answers to current pastoral problems. This study aims to answer the relevance of pastoral theology to the challenges of Christian leadership in this postmodern era. The method used is descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach. Analyze journal data, books, and also do a theological review by exegeting Isaiah 40:11 to get data on information about pastoral theology to answer the challenges of Christian leadership today. This research has produced a formulation of pastoral theology that is still relevant to address the challenges of the times including this postmodern era. Pastoral theology must be based on the absolute truth of the Bible, where study through textual exegesis of Isaiah 40:11 produces a shepherd triplet which is a unit that must be worked on together. The shepherding triplets are Shepherd, Leader, Managerial.

Abstract:
Since 2009, the amount of literature focused on the psychological and social dimensions of the climate crisis has increased exponentially. This growing interest in the topic is signaled especially in the American Psychological Association (APA)’s multiple reports on the mental health impacts of climate change. More recently, across different disciplines, links have also been made between trauma theory and the climate crisis. These rich discussions include overlapping concerns, areas of potential fruitfulness and theological implications for all the practical theological disciplines, especially for pastoral theology and practices of care. Given the implicitly existential, theological and spiritual dimensions embedded in the realities of both trauma and the climate crisis, there is an important opportunity for pastoral theology in particular, and practical theology more generally, to engage, learn from and contribute to the interdisciplinary conversation. In this paper, I first offer a brief overview of the literature in pastoral theology related to the climate crisis. Second, I present literature specifically on trauma theory and the climate crisis, outlining several of the key themes emerging across the interdisciplinary discussion. Third, I reflect theologically on the presented content, discussing and drawing forward areas of theological, epistemological and practical fruitfulness for practical and pastoral theology.

Abstract:
The article studies a proposal of pastoral action in which is highlighted the kenotic character, that is, turning oneself towards meeting and service of persons. The objective of the article is to highlight that kenotic action is part of Pope Francis’ proposal in the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, and that this can be illustrated by the theology of Urs von Balthasar. The methodology relates the authors studied, starting by verifying the theme of kenosis in the theology of Urs von Balthasar and the presence of kenosis in the life of Jesus, especially highlighted in the Last Supper. The study of the theology of Urs von Balthasar refers to the trinitarian kenosis drawn out in the kenosis of Christ and in the ecclesial kenosis, among diverse traits in the realization of Church. The model of Jesus Is considered, in a life of service, and at the Supper with the washing of the feet. The article selects instructions from Pope Francis for the Church in our times, highlighting the neologism of making the Church “take the first step” and positioning itself as “a Church which goes forth”. It is implied that the mission is better developed in communities open to dialogue and to service in the world, in the line of synodality. It concludes that the kenotic character must stand out in the Church’s pastoral dimensio, valued by Urs Von Balthasar and translated in the pastoral orientations of Pope Francis.
