Abstract:
Abstract Religious belief and practice affect how parents engage their children; the experience of parenting, in turn, can reshape religious ideas. Religious parenting resources serve to guide parents’ understanding of their relationship with their children and provide an important perspective on the family as a site of religious practice. Taking a special issue of a Taiwanese Buddhist journal as a case study to examine parenting strategies around the topic of death, I argue that conversations with their children about death provide parents an opportunity to re-write traditional scripts around death. Discussions around death also serve to re-orient the parent-child relationship to give greater weight to the child’s voice, and offer space for the parent to learn as well. These religious parenting materials provide new Buddhist perspectives on death and on how parents and children should relate.

Abstract:
Faith, spirituality, and religious involvement can promote stress-related coping for parents raising children with autism, yet little research has explored religious coping in Black parents raising children with autism. Given the high levels of religiosity and increased incidence of autism in Black families, the purpose of this qualitative study was to highlight perceptions of Black parents raising children with autism on mental health and religious coping within the context of a parent advocacy intervention efficacy study. We used a grounded theory method with structural coding of group session transcripts and written responses to center the voices of seven Black parents raising children with autism. Three significant findings emerged: (a) mental health conceptualization; (b) double disenfranchisement; and (c) communal coping.

A questionnaire was used to fulfill the purpose of the research regarding the knowledge, attitudes, and the perceptions of 10-14 age group on religious education in schools. At the same time, studies of national and international authors were consulted for a better analysis of the problems raised in the questionnaires such as the role and the importance of intercultural education in the coexistence and the harmony between people of different cultures, the education on The Fundamental Rights, the role of the curricula in schools, the difference between families in the rural and urban areas and the effect of the parents’ education on children. The results of the study showed that children of this age group receive the first knowledge about religion from the family. An irreplaceable role in religious education has the media. The school involvement in giving knowledge on religious beliefs in both studied regions will positively influence pupil’s formation, eliminating this way the violation of other people religion that often is present in our schools and not only. A correlation between the tolerance of parents and the tolerance of their children resulted as the consequence of the care that families show to respect different religions and often even sects.

Abstract:
This article tries to adapt the concept of religious education curriculum in the family with Islamic perspectives whose main source comes from the thought of Islamic education scholars. Islam considers education in the family to be the oldest informal religious educational institution. The role of parents or families is very important to the successful education of the child, because the child has more time at home with his family. Religious education in the family is intended to shape children into human beings who believe and fear Allah SWT and have noble character and religious values that are carried out in daily life. Seeing how important the role of the family in educating children, a curriculum concept is needed as a reference for Muslim parents in educating their children. Thus, parents can guide their children by providing educational materials that suit the needs, ages, interests, and talents of children, as stated in Ibn Sina and al-Shaibani's thoughts on the concept of education in the family. Besides, aspects of the use of methods in educating children are important things to be considered by parents. Abdullah Nasih Ulwan offered methods that parents can use in educating children, including methods of role models (uswah hasanah), habituation methods, advice (mau’izah) methods, methods of attention, and methods of punishment.

Abstract:
Expanding the scope of inclusion beyond specific groups such as individuals with disabilities has led to the investigation of school systems’ inclusiveness from the perspective of all students. With this in mind, this research investigated the experiences of students and parents belonging to the ancient Syriac community in Turkey, who inhabited Mesopotamia since the inception of Christianity. Obtaining the views of 43 parents and their 46 children through semi-structured interviews, the school system was investigated at a political, cultural, and practical level in terms of the educational inclusion of Syriac individuals. Overall, student and parent views indicated that: (a) policy-making lacked an approach to reach all students and organize support for diversity; (b) school cultures needed to build a community whereby inclusive values were established; and (c) school practices lacked the organization to target and ensure the learning of all and mobilize resources to achieve this aim. Details of findings are included and discussed. Implications address the importance of building schools that consider the increasingly diverse school populations around the world, with a particular focus on cultural and religious diversity.

Using a national sample of over 17,000 high school seniors, we examined the effect of education of parents, employment status of mother, number of parents in household, religiosity, religious affiliation, gender, and race on alcohol and marijuana use. Contrary to some previous research, neither parental education nor employment status of mother was related to use of alcohol or marijuana. Adolescents who lived with both parents were less likely than adolescents in single-parent homes to use marijuana, although the differences were relatively small. Number of parents in household was not related to adolescent alcohol use. Level of religiosity had a significant association with alcohol and marijuana use among all religious denominations, although the magnitude of the relationship varied by denomination. Religious denomination, gender, and race were also related to drug use.

Abstract:
How far ought good liberals to go in accommodating parents with religious objections to the public school curriculum? This article argues that liberal democratic ideals are best honored when we allow parents to structure their children's education in ways compatible with their religious beliefs. Both liberal and democratic theorists, as well as a number of recent judicial decisions, are criticized for opposing such accommodation and for arguing their case against religious parents on a distorted characterization of religious parents' goals. An account of religious parents' concerns that avoids privileging a secular worldview is presented and this account is used to argue for the political benefits of a broad “principle of parental deference.” In conclusion, a new account of where public schools ought properly to draw the line, detailing three exceptional cases in which parental religious concerns ought not to be accommodated, is offered.

Abstract:
Life is with humans and beginning of every human is with parents. That's why Islam emphasizes the Rights of parent, Islam emphasizes to obey the parents even they are disbelievers in Islam. Parents' rights are considered to be a universal duty, which has also been an important part of all the religions even before Islam. Islam has also given so much importance to the parents' rights. Islam has made it compulsory for the Muslims to treat their parents with all goodness and mercy. A Muslim should recognize the status of the parents and know his duties towards them. The status of parents in Islam is a status which mankind had not known before. Allah has placed the respect for the parent’s just one step below the belief in Allah and true worship of Him. Moreover, obeying parents is a direct commandment of Allah. Islam has also fixed their financial rights. In Islam, serving them is better than optional prayers even if they are non-Muslims. Parents' prayers for their children are accepted earlier. If a person honors his parents this may be the cause of his own children honoring him. Disobedience to parents is among greater sins and moral vices referring to any form of annoying father and mother or either of them by tongue or action. Disobedience to parents has many reasons. It includes lack of religious educations, poverty, fights between Parents, unreasonable parental expectations and social media. Islam has created many opportunities to serve parents. These opportunities are quite universal and give a perfect a solution for every problem for all this; Qur’anic education is needed to make it possible. Government should also take some positive steps in this regard.

Abstract:
This research focuses on normative juridical aspects related to the tendency of religious selection in children as a result of Interfaith Marriage (PBA). With the approach of the sociology of religion and the psychology of child development, this study looks at how the pattern of children’s education influences the tendency of the religion child's selection. Research informants are four PBA pairs taken randomly in the International Conference on Religion and Peace (ICRP) organization. The research findings explain that children's religious preferences follow the path and parenting patterns of their parents who have different religions. In this study there were at least three parenting practices applied by parents of interfaith marriages. First, parents of married couples of different religions teach two religious teachings at once. Secondly, one of the couples from interfaith marriages took over the child's religious education so that the children followed their religion. Third, an agreement to make one child join each parent's religion. The pattern of nurture and religious environment that is applied by interfaith married couples to their children, related to religion, is very influential in the development of children's religious understanding. Religious education that is tolerant and understands religious plurality is a basic basis so that children are not trapped in psychological conflicts blaming one of their parents’ religions. This research is expected to contribute to the development of family law, particularly law on protecting children. Abstract:
The family's function, particularly how parents care for their children at home, has a significant impact on how youngsters develop their religious spirit. The attention of parents and the roles of each parent should complement one another in order to create a whole and harmonious family that can best carry out religious orders. If parents don't pay attention to their kids and miseducate them, kids will be readily swayed by things that are bad. Based on Islamic religious principles given in the Koran and the Prophet's sunnah, Islamic religious education shapes a person's physical and spiritual qualities. It is anticipated that both facets will develop in harmony in order to prevent a disconnect between spiritual and material requirements. Selfishness will be avoided if a person leads a balanced life. The goal of this study is to ascertain the extent to which parental involvement in the delivery of Islamic religious education and its relevance to students' religious attitudes are related. This study employs the descriptive analytic method and uses interviews and questionnaires as its data sources. Data analysis, a crucial step in the scientific method, is done to use the study that has been done on the sampled pupils to provide a response to the research question. By analyzing the data, it can be concluded that parents give their children's religious education a lot of thought, which has an impact on the religious attitudes of students who behave well. In addition, the school fulfills its responsibility as an educational institution by offering lessons and extracurricular activities that can help students develop their religious attitudes, as can be seen from interviews with the school.

Abstract:
This article provides information on the current Dutch educational system, paying special attention to the position of Islam in formal, non-formal and informal education. It briefly sketches the history of the so-called “pillarised educational system”, a system in which the 19th century Dutch Christian education system evolved into a compartmentalised system with the pillars of Catholic, Protestant and humanistic education. At the end of the 20th century, a fourth pillar of Islamic education was founded by Dutch Muslim parents. Convinced that religious upbringing in the family and participation in mosque youth clubs constituted only the beginning of the process of becoming a good Muslim, Moroccan and Turkish parents supported the foundation of formal Islamic education in Dutch Islamic schools. This article describes developments in formal, non-formal and informal Islamic education in the light of children’s rights to religious education and parents’ rights to religious upbringing. Religious identity development, including religious literacy training, is presented as an important aspect of educating children to be(come) good Muslims—a process in which parents at home, imams and volunteers at the mosque, as well as teachers at school, play an important role.

Abstract:
Education is the most important and vital insitutiton that is in charge of upbringing and development of the personality of adolescents and youth. The essential vitality of paying heed to the development of human personality and the importance of psychosomatic cultivation of the students have caused this important issue to be considered as one of the essential functions of the educational system. Thus conceived, the goals of higher education are realized when the coordination with other social institutions including family is reached. Most of the educational instructors, psychologists, sociologists, and so on and so forth, trace the origin of many social and behavioral problems of students back to the existing behavioral patterns at home. Accordingly, the role of family in education and its ideal methods has been continuously recognized by humans and has had great importance in human life in all ages. The negligence or ignorance of families regarding the issue of religious education has caused many psychological, social and religious harms. In the current essay, we seek to explain the religious and social education in family and the methods of religious and social education of the family.

Abstract:
The nature and functions of the school reflect the demands and expectations of the larger society including parents. The objective of this sequential explanatory mixed method design study was to obtain the views of RME teachers and headteachers regarding how parents (of primary school pupils) were influencing quality delivery of Religious and Moral Education (RME) in Cape Coast, Ghana. Data were sought from 264 RME teachers and 15 headteachers through questionnaire, interview and lesson observation. The instruments were pre-tested and validated to obtain high degree of reliability and dependability. The questionnaire data obtained reliability co-efficient value of r =. 845, the observation data obtained Cohen’s Kappa value of .765 (k = .765, p < .000) and the interview data were duly validated to ensure interview trustworthiness. Frequencies, percentages, charts, tables, means and standard deviations were used to analyze the research questions while inferential statistics (multiple regression) was used to analyze the quantitative data. The research questions were discussed based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data collected. The variable (parent support) correlated averagely with r = 0.433, p = .000 with the teaching of RME at 5% significance level (α = .05); indicating that parental support has significant effect on quality delivery of RME (Teaching of RME) in the metropolis. It was found out that parents directly or indirectly contribute to RME instruction in the schools through counselling and material supports. Upon the findings it was recommended to parents to collaborate with RME teachers to ensure adequate provision of basic resources that can facilitate dispassionate and objective teaching and learning of RME.

AbstractDespite parents having primary responsibility, it remains the State's duty to ensure its citizens' education. The orientation of the State's education can be secular can religious; however, the State – having the discretion on curriculum – should comply with human rights principles by promoting pluralism and refraining from indoctrination. In this respect, discussions around religious education have been, and are, highly controversial. This has especially been the case for countries such as Turkey, which have pronounced religious minority groups in their territories. In this regard, the Alevis of Turkey, as the largest religious minority in the country, have been the main actors of a long lasting legal struggle to strive for respect for their freedom of religion as well as parental religious convictions. This article aims to answer to what extent Alevis in Turkey can assert their parental right to religious education through invoking international human rights law, particularly under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights.

Abstract:
Islamic religious education by parents at home can be an effort of preventing learning loss to children. This is in accordance with the Circular of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 4 of 2020 which emphasizes that learning at home or distance learning is carried out to provide meaningful learning experiences for children without burdening them with demands to complete all curriculum achievements as a condition for grade promotion or graduation. The purpose of the study is to explain the efforts made in anticipating learning loss through Islamic Religious Education for children at SDN 023 Tarakan. This study uses qualitative research methods by conducting interviews to Islamic Religious Education teachers and parents of students. Education during the pandemic emphasizes more on character building and certainly with the participation of parents. However, until now there are still many parents who do not understand the essence of education during the pandemic. Therefore, effective and intensive communication is needed between teachers at school and parents at home. Through Islamic Religious Education subjects, teachers can convey what knowledge and skills to be mastered by students and what characters they want to instill in children according to their grade level. The results of the study indicate that there is a conformity between the efforts made by Islamic Religious Education teachers in implementing learning with the latest existing theory of overcoming learning loss.

Abstract:
American parents and school leaders are debating whether critical race and gender theories belong in public schools, with many parents turning to home school. Many of these parents will instinctively rely on John Locke’s educational theory, since he famously argued for parental control of education. This essay will summarize Locke’s educational theory and then survey some educational moments in American history to reveal that political leaders have often wavered between individual rights and communal control of education. The essay then argues that Benedict XVI provides a better educational resource for concerned parents. Benedict’s educational perspective flows from his understanding of theology and culture. Benedict argues for parental choice, but within the context of solidarity. For Benedict, teaching children a Christian perspective of human nature within private and home schools becomes an act of communal solidarity, particularly when the community embraces false views of human nature. I conclude by suggesting that although Benedict provides a deeper educational resource than John Locke does, concerned parents should keep Locke’s skepticism in mind. Lockean skepticism can protect against naivete.

Abstract:
Abstract.Until very recently, the “orthodox” liberal view had assumed that the right to the profession and practice of one's own religious values encompassed the right to instil particular religious values in one's children. This view has been challenged by sustained analysis of the role of children within liberal theory, given the basic tenet of the equal moral worth of persons. This strand of liberal thought questions the extent to which parental rights to direct children's upbringing can include a right to form children's basic value sets. With this challenge comes a stronger basis from which to also challenge the idea that parents may legitimately oppose certain aspects of the state-mandated curriculum on the basis that such education may impinge on the values they wish to instil in their children. This paper will examine the controversy surrounding Québec's “Ethics and Religious Culture” course within a framework that seeks to put the interest of children first, as well as how the religious rights of parents and children might be understood in this context.Résumé.

Abstract:
This writing aims to analyze the sociological aspects of multicultural Islamic religious education. Multicultural Islamic religious education is a solution to the plurality of Indonesian society in accordance with the democratic principles adopted by the Indonesian nation. Multicultural Islamic religious education is an important aspect in building the nation's next generation. Sociological aspects in multicultural Islamic religious education are fundamentally reflected by the existence of conducive cooperation between Islamic religious education in the family, school and community environment, good educational control will be realized. In a sociological context, the family is the first and foremost institution known to children. In this case, his parents are the first to be known and provide educational values. Then the school environment, the school at this time is a need for everyone to get an education from school. Schools in this case have two important aspects, namely individual aspects and social aspects. On the one hand, schools are tasked with influencing and creating conditions that allow optimal development. Furthermore, the community environment, a diverse society such as in Indonesia often creates the potential for friction or even conflict. Therefore, differences are a necessity in a pluralistic society. Differences must be accepted as a necessity. Such acceptance will lead to people's attitudes that can accept existing differences. This is what will produce students who have good morals, who will not only make their parents and teachers proud, but also the community as users of educational outcomes.

Abstract:
In 1996 the German Länder started the ‘mission’ to interculturalize all subjects, including religious education (RE). Interculturalizing also applies for RE taught in conformity with the oldest model for RE. In so-called ‘confessional RE’ at state schools, it is the Catholic teacher who teaches children of several classes of the same year in one denominational RE group. The Protestant teacher teaches children whose parents ticked off “Protestant RE”. How this model came into existence is displayed in a historical introduction of this chapter. However, a newer model called ‘cooperative RE’ is gaining popularity. In various schools there is ecumenical education by both Catholic and Protestant staff or multireligious education by Jewish, Christian, or Muslim teachers. New publications on this latter model have a focus on organizational matters, but also shed a light on interreligious learning. However, in this chapter the focus is on how intercultural issues are dealt with in the classroom within the first model. After all, confessional RE is still the standard and most common model in Germany. Therefore, this article will focus on Protestant confessional RE that is not organized in cooperation with Islamic, Jewish, or Catholic colleagues.

Abstract:
Parental religious education is the most important thing in educating and raising children. The religious education that parents have will influence the norms and behavior of children to be educated and mature individuals. But now, even though parents understand the religious values, it is still difficult to implement these values in the family, especially in controlling the interaction of their children. This study investigated the religious value of parents in raising their children and the solution they offer to solve the problem related to sexual harassment issues faced by the children. This study used interviews, documentation, and observation, conducted in three locations namely in Bireuen district with four families, in North Aceh with three families, in Pidie Jaya with seven families, a total of all 14 families. The survey results in Bireuen showed even though their children suffered sexual harassment and rape but the parents were still able to hold their emotions because they had a strong religious education. They were happy to have children because it was assumed that they came from intact families. There is a stigma of society that their children are victims of sexual violation, whereas their parents have a good religious education. Complete intact families that still have both parents, can bring happiness, comfort, protect, and communicate well with their children. Otherwise, incomplete families whose children suffered sexual abuse victims are difficult to solve the problems being faced, especially to cheer up their children.

Some liberal societies continue to require their schools to offer non-directive but, specifically, religious education as part of the curriculum. This article challenges that practice. It does so by articulating and defending the moral requirement that education policy must be regulated by principles that are acceptable to reasonable people. Thereafter, we argue that the leading arguments for prioritizing the study of religion in schools – arguments that claim that religion is special or that assert that the majority or parents are morally permitted to prioritize religion in schooling – are incompatible with the acceptability requirement.

Abstract:
This study investigated expectations of maturity in children among 380 Israeli Jewish fathers and mothers of 6-month-old infants. Subjects were administered a questionnaire which included items reflecting three developmental domains: Cognitive Maturity, Biosocial Maturity, and Social Autonomy. Regarding Cognitive Maturity mothers had earlier expectations than fathers, intermediate and higher educated parents had earlier expectations than lower educated and nonreligious (Secular) parents and moderately religious (Traditional) parents had earlier maturity expectations than religiously strict (Orthodox) parents. A reverse pattern could be observed for Biosocial Maturity: lower educated parents had earlier expectations than higher educated parents, Orthodox parents had earlier expectations than Traditional or Secular parents and parents of Asian or North African origin had earlier maturity expectations than parents of European or American origin. On Social Autonomy mothers had earlier maturity expectations than fathers and Secular and Orthodox parents had earlier expectations than Traditional parents. The results suggest that parental expectations of maturity form a multidimensional construct in which sex and social background of the parent are related to early expectations in some areas and late expectations in others, depending on the values of their societal subgroup.

Abstract:
BackgroundPrevious studies conducted in Iraqi Kurdistan have reported that parent’s decisions to circumcise their daughters are based on religious or cultural beliefs. Despite the widespread practice of female genital mutilation (FGM), the effectiveness of educational strategies to change attitudes towards FGM has not been examined in this region. The present investigation examined the effectiveness of a short-term educational intervention to change the attitudes of parents and religious leaders towards FGM.Methods192 Mullahs (religious leaders), 212 Mokhtars (traditional leaders) and 523 parents in rural areas in Iraqi Kurdistan were invited to participate in a pre- and post-test community-based interventional study in 2017. The Health Belief Model informed the intervention, and participants’ attitudes were compared across two stages of the study.ResultsThe attitudes of Mullahs, Mokhtars and parents substantially changed from a position of supporting female circumcision to expressing a wish to abandon the practice and not cut their future daughters (OR 1.57, 95% CI 1.02 to 2.42; OR 1.99, 95% CI 1.3 to 3.04 and OR 0.13, 95% CI 0.09 to 0.18, respectively).ConclusionsThe present study suggests that brief educational interventions can be an effective strategy for changing the attitudes of parents and public leaders towards FGM. Health education is a useful strategy for changing attitudes. However, such interventions must be delivered alongside other strategies to ensure a multifaceted approach to addressing complex social dynamics. A comprehensive public health approach is, therefore, necessary that includes legal measures, community-based action and an appropriate health system approach.
