Résumé Le rôle du père au sein du partenariat parental est examiné à partir d'une perspective systémique de l'évolution et de la famille. Une relation co-parentale s'établit lorsque deux personnes sont disponibles pour élever un enfant. Cette relation se développe dans le cadre de la relation d'attachement mère-enfant. L'entrée du père au sein de ce système a tendance à être déterminée par ses caractéristiques propres, qui fixent le fondement minimal de sa motivation à être parent, et par la propension maternelle de protection qui décourage ou facilite l'implication paternelle. Trois approches du partenariat parental sont présentées : les évaluations multidimensionnelles de la division du travail, l'alliance parentale et les interactions co-parentales. Les relations des pères au sein de sous-systèmes familiaux paraissent être moins différenciées que celles des mères ; le partenariat parental se trouve donc plus vulnérable à la satisfaction des pères quant à la famille et aux relations conjugales. L'engagement du père envers la famille et la capacité de la mère de lui accorder une certaine autonomie en tant que parent sont des facteurs critiques de la relation co-parentale.

Abstract:
La présente recherche vise à évaluer un programme d'enrichissement familial qui s'adresse à des familles ayant un enfant d'âge préscolaire. Ce programme, appelé HARMONIE, se présente sous la forme d'une activité intensive de fin de semaine dans une base de plein-air impliquant les parents et l'enfant. 11 vise trois objectifs: ( 1 )accroître le sentiment de compétence parentale; (2) diminuer le degré de stress parental et en particulier le stress associé à la perception de difficultés chez l'enfant-cible; (3) assurer un partage équitable de la responsabilité párentale entre les conjoints. L'échantillon est composé d'un groupe expérimental constitué de 17 mères ayant participé avec leur conjoint et leur enfant au programme Harmonie et d'un groupe contrôle de 18 mères. Les effets de l'intervention ont été examinés 3 mois après et 6 mois après le programme sur le plan du stress parental, du sentiment de compétence et du partage des responsabilités parentales. Les résultats indiquent que le progmmme Harmonie a un impact significatif sur la réduction du stress parental et l'augmentation du sentiment de compétence parentale.

Abstract:
Work stress is related to the perception of parental skills in working parents, it is a cross-sectional, associative study with correlational predictive design (Ato, López & Benavente, 2013), 177 parents participated (55.7% women), who worked at least 30 hours per week and who have children between 3 and 12 years old. The instruments used were the Inventory of the demands-control-support model (Rosario-Hernández & Rovira, 2016) and the Perceived Parental Competence Scale (Vera-Vásquez, Zaragoza-Tafur & Musayón-Oblitas, 2014). The results found show significant and positive correlations between the dimension of support with assumption of the role and shared leisure (.27). In the same way, the support dimension is positively related to school involvement (.28); as well as the dimension of control with assumption of the role and shared leisure (.22). A positive and moderate correlation was also found between work demands and hours worked (.34). It has been possible to compare the results with previous studies that reaffirm the idea that due to the amount of work commitments, the parents' stay at home is more difficult. In conclusion, people who perceive stress in their work will have a lower perception of parental competences, since they do not find a balance between the functions of both roles.

A atenção e os cuidados parentais dados a um filho, conjugados com as exigências do dia-a-dia, podem causar ansiedades e stress. O presente estudo analisa o stress parental de pais de crianças que frequentam o 2º ciclo do Ensino Básico português em relação com algumas características sociodemográficas. A amostra é constituida por 50 encarregados de educação, pais de 50 crianças portuguesas que frequentam o 2º ciclo de um colégio do ensino público na região centro de Portugal. Foi aplicada a Escala de Stress Parental (Mixão, Leal, & Maroco, 2010) e um questionário sociodemográfico. Em geral, os resultados revelaram baixos níveis de stress parental. As preocupações parentais, a perceção de falta de controlo e a satisfação registaram valores abaixo do valor médio. A dimensão medos e angústias pontuou acima do valor médio. As mães evidenciaram maiores preocupações parentais. A idade cronológica e o estado civil não se mostraram relacionadas com o stress parental. Os pais com maiores rendimentos mensais revelaram menores níveis de preocupações parentais. As pontuações nas dimensões medos e angústias, preocupações parentais e satisfação mostraram-se semelhantes em pais de um ou de mais filhos. A autoperceção da falta de controlo foi maior em pais com um único filho. Palavras-chave: Stress parental; Stress; Preocupações parentais; Satisfação parental; Pais; Filhos.

Introduction Dans cette étude, nous examinons l'association entre les effets caractéristiques de l'arthrite inflammatoire et les perceptions de patients atteints d'arthrite inflammatoire débutante à propos de leur santé mentale, de leur incapacité parentale, de leur stress parental et du comportement de leurs enfants. Méthodologie Le recrutement de patients dont l'arthrite inflammatoire était en phase initiale (survenue depuis plus de 6 semaines et moins de 18 mois) a été effectué à partir d'un registre de cas d'arthrite inflammatoire débutante fournissant des caractéristiques personnelles ainsi que des mesures de la douleur, du fonctionnement physique et de l'activité de la maladie. Les patients ont auto-évalué leur incapacité parentale, leur stress parental, leur tendance à la dépression et les problèmes de comportement de leurs enfants à l'aide, respectivement, de l'Indice d'incapacité parentale, de l'Indice de stress parental, du questionnaire Center for Epidemiologic Studies – Depression Mood Scale [Échelle d'évaluation de l'état dépressif et de l'humeur du Center for Epidemiologic Studies] et de la Child Behavior Checklist [Liste de contrôle du comportement des enfants]. Résultats La douleur, le dysfonctionnement physique, le nombre d'articulations douloureuses et l'évaluation médicale globale de l'activité de la maladie étaient associés à l'incapacité parentale. Les mesures autodéclarées de l'incapacité parentale étaient associées à celles de la dépression et du stress parental. Le stress parental était associé à la déclaration de problèmes de comportement d'intériorisation et d'extériorisation de l'enfant, tandis que l'incapacité parentale était associée à la déclaration de problèmes de comportement d'extériorisation de l'enfant. Conclusion Cette étude souligne la possibilité d'une relation réciproque entre les aspects physiques de l'activité de la maladie, l'incapacité parentale et la détresse du parent et de l'enfant chez les patients atteints d'arthrite inflammatoire débutante.

Abstract:
Populations with two sexes are vulnerable to a pair of genetic conflicts: sexual antagonism that can arise when alleles have opposing fitness effects on females and males; and parental antagonism that arises when alleles have opposing fitness effects when maternally and paternally inherited. This paper extends previous theoretical work that found stable linkage disequilibrium (LD) between sexually antagonistic loci. We find that LD is also generated between parentally antagonistic loci, and between sexually and parentally antagonistic loci, without any requirement of epistasis. We contend that the LD in these models arises from the admixture of gene pools subject to different selective histories. We also find that polymorphism maintained by parental antagonism at one locus expands the opportunity for polymorphism at a linked locus experiencing parental or sexual antagonism. Taken together, our results predict the chromosomal clustering of loci that segregate for sexually and parentally antagonistic alleles. Thus, genetic conflict may play a role in the evolution of genomic architecture.

El presente artículo corresponde a una revisión bibliográfica acerca de los estilos parentales y calidad de vida familiar en estudiantes adolescentes con dificultades conductuales, como un acercamiento a los aportes y avances de la temática en el contexto ecuatoriano. Los estilos parentales reflejan la estrategia general que cada progenitor emplea en la crianza de sus hijos, comprendiendo varios tipos de actividades parentales. Cada estilo parental tiene efecto sobre las conductas de los hijos al interior y exterior de la familia. Dicha revisión ha sido tomada en referencia al periodo de la última década en bases de datos de acceso abierto (Open Access). Se concluye que, en Ecuador, hace falta ampliar y profundizar en la temática y validar instrumentos para el contexto nacional. Este aporte es esencial para el comienzo de futuras investigaciones en el campo abordado, por lo que se recomienda su continuidad. The parental styles reflect the general strategy that each parent employs in the upbringing of their children, comprising various types of parental activities. Each parental style has an effect on the behavior of the children inside and outside the family. This review has been taken in reference to the period of the last decade in open access databases. It is concluded that, in Ecuador, it is necessary to broaden the scope and validate instruments for the national context. This contribution is essential for the beginning of future research in the field addressed, so its continuity is recommended. Abstract:
This paper examines parental time allocated to the care of one's children. Using data from the recent American Time Use Surveys, we highlight some interesting cross-sectional patterns in time spent by American parents as they care for their children: we find that higher-educated parents spend more time with their children; for example, mothers with a college education or greater spend roughly 4.5 hours more per week in child care than mothers with a high school degree or less. This relationship is striking, given that higher-educated parents also spend more time working outside the home. This robust relationship holds across all subgroups examined, including both nonworking and working mothers and working fathers. It also holds across all four subcategories of child care: basic, educational, recreational, and travel related to child care. From an economic perspective, this positive education gradient in child care (and a similar positive gradient found for income) can be viewed as surprising, given that the opportunity cost of time is higher for higher-educated, high-wage adults. In sharp contrast, the amount of time allocated to home production and to leisure falls sharply as education and income rise. We conclude that child care is best modeled as being distinct from typical home production or leisure activities, and thinking about it differently suggests important questions for economists to explore. Finally, using data from a sample of 14 countries, we explore whether the same patterns holds across countries and within other countries.

El estudio fue de carácter cualitativo basado en un enfoque histórico hermenéutico, la muestra estuvo conformada por 10 padres adolescentes y la información se recolectó a través de las técnicas de taller interactivo y entrevista semiestructurada. Los resultados dan cuenta de la relación existente entre el ejercicio de la paternidad en los adolescentes y los modelos parentales que tuvieron en sus historias de vida. Se identificaron tres modalidades parentales predominantes: El padre que es apoyado, el padre sustituido y el padre carente de apoyo. Se concluyó que las modalidades parentales se construyen desde los recursos personales del adolescente y la calidad del apoyo familiar.Palabras clave: adolescencia, paternidad, modalidades parentalesAbstractThis article presents the results of an investigation that had as aim relating the experience of the paternity and the parental models in a group of teen parents. The results show the existing relation between the exercise of the paternity in the teenagers and the parental models that they had in their histories of life. Three predominant parental modalities were identified: The parent who is supported, the replaced parent and the parent lacking in support. As práticas educativas parentais referem-se ao modo, utilizado pelos pais, de socializar, controlar ou desenvolver valores e atitudes em seus filhos, e ao seu conjunto denomina-se estilo parental. Utilizou-se o Inventário de Estilo Parental de Gomide de 2003 para avaliar duas práticas positivas (monitoria positiva e comportamento moral) e cinco negativas (negligência, abuso físico, monitoria negativa, punição inconsistente e disciplina relaxada), buscando investigar se a percepção dos filhos coincide com a percepção dos pais sobre as práticas parentais utilizadas na família. O Inventário de Estilo Parental foi aplicado em 41 famílias de jovens em conflito com a lei. Os resultados mostraram que os filhos percebem da mesma forma que a mãe (Z=1,44; p= 0,15) e que o pai (Z=0,65; p= 0,51) as práticas educativas vigentes na família. A média do índice de estilo parental familiar (filho, pai e mãe) foi negativa, indicando que são famílias de risco. A identificação do estilo parental em famílias de risco poderá fornecer importantes subsídios para elaboração de programas de orientação e treinamento de pais, tanto preventivamente quanto para aquelas famílias cujos filhos adolescentes já se encontram em conflito com a lei.

Nesta pesquisa de delineamento correlacional e comparativo, examinaram-se os níveis de estresse parental e as práticas socioeducativas parentais em 135 pais/mães de filhos sem doença crônica (grupo controle) e com diabetes mellitus tipo 1 (DM1; grupo clínico). Para tanto, os grupos foram estratificados quanto ao nível de estresse parental relatado (baixo ou alto estresse) e foram constatadas diferenças significativas entre eles, exceto entre os grupos controle e clínico com baixo estresse. A regressão logística multinomial também revelou diferenças significativas entre os grupos quanto ao uso de práticas socioeducativas de afeto, educação e disciplina, onde os pais/mães do grupo controle baixo estresse parental apresentaram maiores chances de uso de tais práticas. Ao final, acredita-se que os resultados encontrados podem auxiliar intervenções com pais/mães que busquem minimizar o estresse parental e potencializar o uso de práticas parentais positivas, e promover um melhor controle glicêmico do(a) filho(a) portador(a) de DM1.

Este estudo pretende (a) compreender as associações entre conciliação trabalho-família e a vivência satisfatória e/ou stressante da parentalidade, (b) analisar a variabilidade destas associações em função do sexo da figura parental, e (c) testar se estas associações são afetadas pela qualidade da vinculação romântica. Recolheram-se, transversalmente, dados de 346 participantes (173 homens e 173 mulheres) que responderam a instrumentos de autorrelato, designadamente a Work-Family Enrichment Scale, a Work-Family Conflict Scale, a Experiences in Close Relationship Scale e a Parental Stress Scale. Encontraram-se diferenças, em função do sexo na predição dos efeitos do conflito e enriquecimento trabalho-família sobre as dimensões de satisfação e stress parentais. Foram também encontradas diferenças na satisfação parental, sendo significativamente mais elevada nas mulheres do que nos homens. O papel moderador da vinculação romântica na relação entre enriquecimento/conflito e satisfação/stress parentais não se verificou, embora o evitamento prediga negativamente a satisfação parental nos homens.

Fundamentos: los programas de educación parental, promotores de la parentalidad positiva, reducen el estrés parental. En España y Latinoamérica son escasas las evaluaciones que evidencian dichos efectos y en ningún caso exploran los predictores de éxito. Este estudio analiza los cambios producidos por el “Programa de desarrollo de habilidades parentales para familias” (PHP), basado en la educación parental y promovido por enfermeras comunitarias sobre el estrés parental, e identifica los factores sociodemográficos asociados a una mayor reducción de estrés. Métodos: se recogió información sociodemográfica de 257 participantes, antes de la intervención y de estrés parental antes y después de esta. Se empleó la versión española de Parental Stress Scale. Se aplicaron test no paramétricos y una regresión logística binaria. Resultados: el análisis bivariado identificó reducción del estrés parental para todas las categorías de las variables predictoras. El análisis multivariado mostró que los hombres, las personas con menor nivel de estudios y las desempleadas presentaron mayor probabilidad de reducir el estrés. Conclusiones: el PHP es una intervención efectiva para reducir el estrés parental en diferentes grupos poblacionales. Este estudio contribuye a reforzar los incipientes hallazgos de estudios internacionales, y a dar respuesta al vacío de los países latinos, en cuanto al papel de los determinantes sociales como predictores de la reducción del estrés parental generados por los programas de educación parental.

Abstract:
English Three factors were extracted from the Vietnamese Parental Attitude Scale: cultural values, parental expectations and communications. Thirty Vietnamese-American parents showed high expectations for school performance, gender equity, respect for teachers, a successful marriage and parental love, but relatively low expectations for Vietnamese language conformity and absolute obedience. French Trois facteurs de l'échelle Vietnamienne d'Attitudes Parentales ont fait l'objet de cette étude: les valeurs culturelles, les attentes des parents et les communications. Trente-cinq parents américains d'origine vietnamienne ont manifestéd'importantes attentes envers la performance scolaire, l'égalitédes genres, le respect envers les professeurs, la réussite du mariage, l'amour entre parents, mais des attentes moins élevées à l'égard du respect de la langue vietnamienne et de l'obéissance absolue. Spanish Se extrajeron tres factores de la Escala Vietnamita de Actitud Parental: valores culturales, expectativas parentales, y comunicaciones. Treinta y cinco padres americano-vietnamitas mostraron tener expectativas escolares altas, igualdad de gé nero, respeto hacia los profesores, éxito matrimonial, amor paterno y materno, pero relativamente bajas expectativas respecto a formación en la lengua vietnamita y obediencia absoluta.

Abstract:
A presente pesquisa teve três objetivos principais: 1) avaliar o bem-estar emocional, inferido como níveis de estresse de sobrecarga de tempo (ST) e sintomas de depressão (SD), em um grupo de mães e pais; 2) investigar algumas dimensões do exercício do papel parental entendidas como importantes componentes dos esquemas parentais (Ex. auto-percepção, estabelecimento de interações positivas com filhos), e 3) investigar associações entre os indicadores de bem-estar emocional parental e os diferentes componentes dos esquemas parentais. Participaram 51 casais, residentes no Rio de Janeiro, com diferentes níveis de escolaridade, maiores de 18 anos, com pelo menos um filho natural com idade inferior a 5 anos. As mães e pais responderam questionários que avaliaram ST, SD, componentes dos esquemas parentais, desejabilidade social, e dados sócio-demográficos. Os resultados, compatíveis com estudos anteriores, indicaram que uma parcela importante dos pais entrevistados apresentou níveis elevados de estresse de sobrecarga de tempo e queixas de depressão. Foram identificadas diversas associações significativas (p < 0,05) entre medidas do bem-estar e dimensões dos esquemas parentais. Foram identificadas, por exemplo, correlações entre ST e SD (r=0,24), ST e auto-percepção do papel parental (r=-0,48); SD e auto-percepção do papel parental (r = -0,45); ST e interação positiva dos pais com os filhos (r = 0,22). Entre outros aspectos, os resultados obtidos podem contribuir para um melhor entendimento das associações entre bem-estar emocional e esquemas parentais e poderão fundamentar futuros projetos de intervenção com pais e mães.

Although the parent-child relationship is significant throughout life, many changes occur as children grow, particularly during young adulthood. Parental loss and resulting grief during adulthood is likely influenced by many variables, including age, gender, relationship quality, and sex roles. In the present study, parentally bereaved adults completed measures assessing parental involvement, personal grief and adjustment, and sex role preferences. Analyses of covariance indicated that gender of the bereaved child was significant in predicting some aspects of grief, wherein females were more strongly impacted by the loss of a parent, irrespective of that parent's sex. However, the interaction of sex of parent and sex of child was also significant, suggesting that maternal loss may be particularly difficult for daughters. Results suggested that women may have a stronger emotional experience of grief and maintain closer bonds with a deceased mother. This may result from deeper emotional connections, feeling excluded by age peers, or vulnerability for rumination.

La etapa preescolar es decisiva para el desarrollo del ser humano, por la gran plasticidad que posibilita adquirir nuevas conductas y aprendizajes emocionales. Objetivos: (1) Investigar las conductas externalizadas e internalizadas en niños/niñas preescolares según padres y profesoras, y el involucramiento parental según edad, género y nivel socioeconómico (NSE); (2) Analizar dichas conductas con las prácticas parentales positivas y negativas informadas por padres y educadoras. Participantes: 293 niños y niñas de 2-5 años, 136 niñas (46.4%) 293 padres y 54 educadoras, de la Concepción, Chile. El diseño es descriptivo, correlacional y de corte trasversal. Evaluación: Child Behavior Check List y Child Teacher Report Form; Parental Sense of Competence; Alabama Parenting Questionnaire-Preschool Revision. Resultados: Los padres evalúan con mayor frecuencia que las educadoras conductas externalizadas e internalizadas. No existen diferencias estadísticamente significativas según edad en comportamientos desadaptativos, mientras que las educadoras evidencian diferencias en conductas externalizadas e internalizadas, presentando los niños más conductas desadaptativas. A menor NSE menos conductas externalizadas e internalizadas perciben padres y educadores, y más prácticas parentales inconsistentes y castigadoras, mientras que a mayor NSE mayor nivel de satisfacción parental. No hay diferencias en satisfacción con el rol parental ni en la percepción de autoeficacia parental.

School dropout and child labour are associated with low socioeconomic status, as parents are keen to send offspring to the labour market to increase household income. The literature has focused primarily on impaired children but none, to our knowledge, has considered whether impaired parents are associated with children's school dropout, idleness and child labour in Mexico. Our hypothesis posits that parental disability, because of lack of parental supervision, can be related to school dropout because a greater dependence on child labour, but also to higher idleness. Using a sample of 598 children between 14 and 17 years old in the municipality of San Andrés Cholula, Puebla (Mexico), we found that parental disability is associated with increased idleness, but not with child labour. Also, the mother in the household helps preventing school dropout as well as adding paid work to school activities.

Mediante o rompimento de uma relação amorosa, podem surgir, entre casais que possuem filhos, conflitos, posto que permanece um vínculo parental. Com isso, situações mal resolvidas entre os ex-consortes podem gerar reflexos nos filhos. Nesse contexto, há a prática de alienação parental, que consiste em uma série de condutas cometidas pelo genitor alienador, que tenta romper qualquer vínculo do infante com o outro genitor. Nesse sentido, em vista de promover o bem-estar da criança, do adolescente, assim como do núcleo familiar, a Lei n. 12.318 de 2010 objetiva mitigar quaisquer atos alienantes. A partir disso, o objetivo desta pesquisa é verificar a eficiência dos meios preventivos e punitivos para tal situação presentes na legislação. Para tanto, fundamenta-se em um aporte teórico-metodológico bibliográfico e documental. Ao considerar os resultados obtidos, constata-se que a Lei n. 12.318 de 2010 é eficiente em mitigar a prática de alienação parental e a reequilibrar o vínculo familiar.

Increasing philosophical attention has recently focused on questions of the nature of vulnerability, and of the implications of recognizing and responding to vulnerability in human agents and subjects. Within that field of interest, explorations and analyses of the specific vulnerability of children have raised many interesting questions regarding the nature of childhood and the vulnerability-responsive obligations of parents. By contrast, there has been no philosophical recognition or discussion of parental vulnerability within the parent-child relationship. In this paper I seek to address that theoretical gap, exploring the distinct ways in which parents are vulnerable qua parents, as well as some of the normative implications that follow from a recognition of that vulnerability. These implications include claims of a vulnerability-based foundation for extensive parental authority over children, and the significant role of expanded social structures and mechanisms to more adequately support the parenting of our children.

This qualitative study explored parental perceptions regarding parent's choice of quality childcare centers in urban areas of Karachi, Pakistan. Sixteen participants were selected from two centers in different geographical areas. For parents, the most common reason for selecting the childcare centers was the lack of other available options such as family support. Availability and accessibility of childcare centers were reported as supporting factors, while lack of family support, lack of information, and violent city conditions were identified as barriers to choosing childcare centers. In addition, husband support was perceived as a facilitator and a barrier to choosing childcare centers.
