Abstract:
OBJECTIVE: to test a theoretical model based on the Parent-Based Expansion of the Theory of Planned Behavior examining relation between selected parental, teenager and cultural variables and Latino teenagers' intentions to engage in sexual behavior.METHOD: a cross-sectional correlational design based on a secondary data analysis of 130 Latino parent and teenager dyads.RESULTS: regression and path analysis procedures were used to test seven hypotheses and the results demonstrated partial support for the model. Parent familism and knowledge about sex were significantly associated with parents' attitudes toward sexual communication with their teenagers. Parent Latino acculturation was negatively associated with parents' self-efficacy toward sexual communication with their teenagers and positevely associated with parents' subjective norms toward sexual communication with their teenagers. Teenager knowledge about sex was significantly associated with higher levels of teenagers' attitudes and subjective norms about sexual communication with parents. Only the predictor of teenagers' attitudes toward having sex in the next 3 months was significantly associated with teenagers' intentions to have sex in the next 3 months.CONCLUSION: the results of this study provide important information to guide future research that can inform development of interventions to prevent risky teenager sexual behavior among Latinos.

ABSTRACTObjective:The loss of a parent to cancer is considered one of the most traumatic events a teenager can experience. Studies have shown that teenagers, from the time of diagnosis, are already extremely worried about the consequences of a parent's cancer but tend to be left to manage these concerns on their own. The present study aimed to explore young adults' advice to healthcare professionals on how to support teenagers who are losing a parent to cancer.Methods:This work derives from a Swedish nationwide survey and employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive/interpretive design to obtain answers to an open-ended question concerning advice to healthcare professionals. Of the 851 eligible young adults who had lost a parent to cancer when they were 13–16 years of age within the previous 6 to 9 years, 622 participated in our survey (response rate = 73%). Of these 622 young adults, 481 responded to the open-ended question about what advice to give healthcare professionals.Results:Four themes emerged: (1) to be seen and acknowledged; (2) to understand and prepare for illness, treatment, and the impending death; (3) to spend time with the ill parent, and (4) to receive support tailored to the individual teenager's needs.Significance of Results:This nationwide study contributes hands-on suggestions to healthcare staff regarding attitudes, communication, and support from the perspective of young adults who, in their teenage years, lost a parent to cancer. Teenagers may feel better supported during a parent's illness if healthcare professionals take this manageable advice forward into practice and see each teenager as individuals; explain the disease, its treatments, and consequences; encourage teenagers to spend time with their ill parent; and recommend sources of support.

Self-concept of someone is heavily influenced by various factors, which include gender, cultural background and status. Related to guidance and counseling services in improving teenagers’ self-concept who live in an orphanage, is necessary to obtain a clear description about self- concept with a variety of factors that can affect it. This research uses a quantitative approach to type descriptive comparative. The research methods applied in the study was ex post facto with a sampling of data retrieval, research design using factorial design 2 x 4 x 2. Teenager’s self-concept of men and women are in middle category, average value of boys’ score are higher than girls, it means that boys have more positive view of themselves than girls. 2) Teenager’s self-concept in orphanages based on the cultural background of the Minangkabau, Mentawai, Java, and Batak are in middle category, there were no differences in teenager’ self-concept based on the cultural background of the Minangkabau, Mentawai, Java, and Batak who lives in an orphanage. 3) Teenager’s self-concept with orphan status and surrogate parents are in middle category, average value scores of teenager orphan status is higher than teenagers with the status of surrogate parents, it means that teenagers with orphan status have positive view of himself rather than teenagers with surrogate parent status. 4) Teenager’s self-concept in terms of gender, cultural background, and status are in middle category, and there are interactions between gender variable, cultural background and status in explaining teenager’s self-concept. The implications of these results for the counselor are for a material consideration in the preparation of counseling service programs in improving teenager’s self-concept in an orphanage.

There is an anecdotal impression that teenage patients report exaggerated postoperative pain scores that do not correlate with their actual level of pain. Nurse and parental perception of teenagers’ pain can be complemented by knowledge of patient pain behavior, catastrophizing thoughts about pain, anxiety, and mood level. Two hundred and two patients completed the study—56.4% were female, 89.6% White, 5.4% Black, and 5% were of other races. Patient ages ranged from 11 to 17 years (mean = 13.8; SD = 1.9). The patient, the parent, and the nurse completed multiple questionnaires on day one after laparoscopic surgery to assess patient pain. Teenagers and parents (r = 0.56) have a high level of agreement, and teenagers and nurses (r = 0.47) have a moderate level of agreement on pain scores (p < 0.05). The correlation between patient APBQ (adolescent pain behavior questionnaire) and teenager VAS (visual analog scale) and between nurse APBQ and teenager VAS, while statistically significant (p < 0.05), is weaker (r range = 0.14–0.17). There is a moderate correlation between teenagers’ pain scores and their psychological assessments of anxiety, catastrophic thoughts, and mood (r range = 0.26–0.39; p < 0.05). A multi-modal evaluation of postoperative pain can be more informative than only assessing self-reported pain scores.

Introduction. Parents are responsible to meet the needs of children include biological and psychological needs, but in reality behave over protective parents. The result appears coping strategies in children. The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation of behavior over protective parent with a teenager coping strategies in Mutiara Bandung 4 Junior High School. Methods. The study was observational with cross sectional sample of 70 respondents taken by purposive sampling method. Instruments questionnaire and analyzed using chi square test. Results. This study showed that teenagers in Mutiara Bandung 4 Junior High School whose parents overprotected more used Emotional Focused Coping than parents who did not overprotected. Chi square test p = 0.003, ie p <α (0.05). There was a correlation between the behavior over protective parent with a teenager coping strategies in Mutiara Bandung 4 Junior High School. Discussion. The Parents be recommended to comprehend adolescent condition with viewpoint of growth and development of adolescents, so they can use good coping strategy to solve their problems.Keywords: Adolescents, Coping Strategies, Over Protective

Abstract:
Adolescence is a key developmental period in one’s life course; health-related behaviors of adolescents can be linked to lifelong consequences, which affect their future health. Previous studies highlight the role of family and its significant association with adolescents’ health. In East Asia and the Pacific, the Philippines is the only country that is showing an upward trend of teenage pregnancy while other countries in the region have declining teenage pregnancy rates. Against this backdrop, this study investigated the association between teenage pregnancy and family factors, specifically parent structure. Data for the study were extracted from the Philippine National Demographic and Health Survey 2017. All adolescent women aged 15–19 years old (n = 5120) were included in the analyses. The dependent variable was teenage pregnancy, while parent structure, defined as a presence or absence of parents in the domicile, was the exposure variable. Multivariable logistic regression was utilized in assessing the association of teenage pregnancy and family factors after adjusting for several potential confounders. Adolescent women were more likely to become pregnant as a teenager when they lived with neither parent (aOR = 4.57, 95% CI = 2.56–8.15), were closer to 19 years of age (aOR = 2.17, 95% CI = 1.91–2.46), had knowledge of contraception (aOR = 1.27, 95% CI = 1.22–1.32) and lived in a big family (aOR = 1.14, 95% CI = 1.09, 1.20). Furthermore, adolescent women who lived with neither parent and belonged to the poorest wealth quintile were more likely to become pregnant as a teenager (aOR = 3.55, 95% CI = 1.67–7.55). Conversely, educational attainment higher than secondary education (aOR = 0.08, 95% CI = 0.01–0.49) and those who belonged to the richest wealth quintile (aOR = 0.40, 95% CI = 0.18–0.92) exhibited a statistically inverse association with teenage pregnancy compared with those with no education and from the middle wealth quintile, respectively. Living with neither parent was found as a risk factor for teenage pregnancy. Furthermore, we found that several sociodemographic factors exhibited a non-uniform increment and reduction in the risk of teenage pregnancy.

The research was conducted to reveal the various facts about the permissive parenting parents against the impact of a single female parent’s teenager the end. Use case study in qualitative approach. On two of the respondents which of its characteristics are single parents teenager pregnant outside wedlock end then married in a short time and eventually divorced. Data were collected through interviews; observation and documentation study. Analyzed data qualitative descriptive usage through case studies and served in the form of narratives with earlier in Triangulation. Research results shows that the problem is becoming a single parent woman have an impact on the lives of young women as single parents. Respondents subjected to stress, standard of living is low a negative view of society and childcare; aspect role overload, poverty, loneliness and isolation, and felt to be a burden not affect the respondents. A family of permissive parenting causes the marriage is seen as a mere status only, so that after their child's birth status was not considered important, and they choose to become single parents. Further research showed the presence of moral deterioration and the difference in the impact of being a single parent on this research is influenced strongly by self resiliensi respondents. Counseling service to help explore the issues and deal with cases of teenagers as a single parent is indispensable.

Abstract:
The main approaches to the definition of the phenomenon of “alienation” have been considered. The causes and dynamics of the emergence of alienation in the child-parent relationship have been investigated. Interconnection of violations in parent-child relationships with the incorrect educational strategy of parents has been revealed. Special attention has been paid to the specificity of manifestations and the nature of alienation in adolescence. It has been supposed about the connection between alienation and style of upbringing of a teenager. The practical part of the article describes the procedure and results of the study on the determination of this connection. The analysis has identified a statistically significant interrelation between alienation and the relationship between parents and children. Critical importance of hypo-care for the formation of teenage alienation has been ascertained. The characteristic of child-parent relations in same-sex and opposite-sex couples child-parent has been made.

Familiarity of teens-parents and high school teenagers with incidence of depression in Yogyakarta CityPurposeThis study aimed to determine the differences in the incidence of depression in high school teenagers who are familiar and not familiar with their parents in Yogyakarta City.MethodsThis research was a cross-sectional study, involving 200 high school teenagers in Yogyakarta city and conducted in five high schools in Yogyakarta city. The independent variable was familiarity of parent-teens, the dependent variable was teenager depression and external variables were gender, parental employment status, and socioeconomic status. Data analysis included univariable, and bivariable analysis with Chi-square tests, to determine the strength of the relationship between independent and dependent variable and multivariable analysis with logistic regression tests.ResultsBivariable analysis showed a significant correlation between familiarity of parent-teens with teenagers’ depression. Teenagers who were not familiar with their parents were potentially 3.7 times more likely to get depressed than teenagers who were familiar with their parents. Multivariable analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between parental familiarity with teenagers’ depression when controlled for the variable of gender. Teenagers who are not familiar with their parents and female gender have 7.6 times greater potential to become depressed than teenagers who are familiar with their parents and male gender.ConclusionThe incidence of depression in high school teenagers who are not familiar with their parents was higher than teenagers who are familiar with their parents.

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Objective. </strong>Identification of meaningful features of the ratio of adolescents' self-esteem of status among classmates and stylistic aspects of interactions with parents among students from full and incomplete families.<br><strong>Background. </strong>Family and school are the most important institutions of a teenager's socialization. In the course of the social relationships developing here, value orientations are formed, norms of social role behavior are mastered, fundamental changes related to the development of personality occur. It is clear that, from a socio-psychological point of view, a teenager's involvement in these institutions does not exist in isolation; meaningful life contexts intersect, often acquiring a conflict character. In connection with the general trend of increasing single-parent families, a comparative study of indicators characterizing the features of socialization of adolescents from full and single-parent families is of particular relevance for the organization of the educational process among primary and high school students.<br><strong>Study design. </strong>The paper studied the opinions of adolescents with different self-assessment of their status in the classroom ("leaders" and "outcasts") regarding a number of indicators that characterize the stylistic features of their interaction with parents: "significant other" in the immediate environment; parents' acceptance of the personal position ("opinions") of a teenager; forms of punishment of parents and reaction to them a teenager. A comparison of the stylistic features of the relationship between students and parents in full and single-parent families is carried out, depending on the self-assessment of the status ("leader" or "outcast") among classmates.<br><strong>Participants. </strong>40575 students in grades 7-11 from 17 regions of the Russian Federation. Subsamples: from full families &ndash; 73,7%; from incomplete families &ndash; 26,3%; in a full family: "leaders" in the class &ndash; 7,0%, "outcasts" in the class &ndash; 4,7%; in a single-parent family, respectively: 6,5% and 5,8%.<br><strong>Measurements. </strong>Anonymous survey using an author's questionnaire containing closed questions. The processing of the research materials was carried out using the statistical software package SPSS 21 and StatSoft Statistica 7.0. To compare the proportions observed in two independent samples and expressed as percentages, the chi-square criterion was used in the module "Basic statistics &ndash; Difference tests" of the StatSoft Statistica 7.0 package. Factor analysis using the method of selecting the Main components with rotation according to the criterion Kaiser's Verimax.<br><strong>Results. </strong>The analysis of the characteristics of the frequency of distribution of students' responses regarding various aspects of their relationship with parents showed that such social parameters as completeness/incompleteness of the family in which the teenager is brought up and his self-assessment of status among classmates differentiate the opinion of schoolchildren about the stylistic features of child-parent relations. The results of the factor analysis allowed us to identify four factors that characterize the peculiarity of the relationships between different aspects of the relationship of adolescents with their parents: "authoritarianism &mdash; democracy"; "upholding independence in relations with parents"; "seeking consent &mdash; limiting the child's social contacts"; "striving to defend their position &mdash; prohibition of interpersonal contacts with friends". The interrelation of the features of the socio-psychological interaction of a teenager with his parents and his well-being in the class team is revealed.<br><strong>Conclusions.</strong> The results obtained indicate a kind of mutual projection of the socio-psychological relationships of a teenager with his parents and his interactions with classmates. In this regard, school educational programs should take into account the types of child-parent relationships that develop in full and incomplete families. The problem of the socio-psychological well-being of a teenager requires coordination of the efforts of the family and the school, taking into account the age-specific features of development.</p>

Studies on the efficacy of parent training programs have mostly been conducted with preadolescents, with only a few studies investigating family treatment models in adolescents. In this article, a study is described that evaluates Standard Teen Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), a behavioural family intervention for parents of 11- to 16-year-old teenagers. Participants were 46 families with a teenager who was experiencing detectable behavioural and emotional problems. Compared to parents in the waitlist control condition, parents participating in the intervention condition reported decreased levels of teen disruptive behaviours and parent adolescent conflict, as well as a reduction in the use of ineffective parenting strategies and conflict over child-rearing issues. These positive changes were maintained at the 3-month follow-up. Results suggest that Standard Teen Triple P is a promising parenting intervention for tackling adolescent externalising problems.

Abstract:
Because more than 60% of adolescent visits to physicians last less than 10 minutes, simple screening devices to identify persons at risk for social morbidity are needed. The result of a pilot screening instrument for depression and parent-teenager conflict is described. A seven-item questionnaire (three items for depression and four items for parent-teenager conflict), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the Conflict Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ), were administered to 226 adolescents at a high-risk adolescent health center. After the visit, the provider rated each patient on a five-point Likert scale for level of depression and parent-teenager conflict. The screening questionnaire and the provider ratings were compared with the BDI and CBQ for sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value. A majority of the subjects (61% for depression and 63% for parent-teenager conflict) had no positive screening responses and, of these, less than 3% were classified as being depressed or having parent-teenager conflict by the BDI or CBQ. There were three or four positive screening responses (three responses for the depression questions and 20 responses for the parent-teenager conflict questions) among 23 adolescents and all of these scored in the abnormal range on the BDI or CBQ. Approximately one third of the subjects had intermediate responses. With one positive response, the predictive value for depression and parent-teenager conflict was 17% and 24%, respectively, whereas with two positive responses the predictive values were 56% and 26%. It was shown by receiver operating characteristic curves that the combined sensitivity and specificity of the screening questionnaire was superior to that of the physician ratings. In this study it was demonstrated that a simple seven-item instrument for depression and parent-teenager conflict can quickly and accurately classify the two thirds of patients with very high or very low scores and provide likelihoods of these problems for the remaining one third of patients who score in the intermediate ranges. This instrument can aid providers in efficient assessment of social morbidity factors in their adolescent patients.

Abstract This article presents an individual parental coaching model (IPC) designed and examined for a PhD dissertation. Here we shall examine one aspect from the PhD, which explores the connection and influence that this IPC model has on the ‘teenager-parent’ relationship. Essentially, the research had two main goals, firstly to examine the possible influence of a unique parental coaching process, with respect to the parents’ ability to form better connections and communication with their adolescent children. Furthermore, it sought to validate a certain perception of parenting - the notion that a parent must first establish a firm sense of “self” before taking part in parenting, thus self-definition, purpose and meaning, are the individual’s significant guidelines when establishing relations with others, especially the demanding relations with teenagers. This was a qualitative narrative piece of research, since the parents’ life stories, as perceived and related by them, were at the core of this research. Seven Israeli families participated; heterosexual married couples who had raised at least one teenager between the ages of 13 to 18. The parents took an active part in a comprehensive coaching process consisting of ten weekly sessions. While the teenagers took part in an indirect manner, by filling out questionnaires. The data collected during the coaching sessions and open interviews were analyzed using the “Theme Analysis” method. This revealed some prominent individual and parental issues that contemporary Israeli parents had to deal with. The results indicated the following central findings, apart from the parent’s appreciation of the opportunity to enter a deep process of ‘self-encounter’, resulting in great benefits despite the challenges along the way. The finding’s below address both the research question itself and the explicit change process in the communication and connection between the parents and their teenagers from both perspectives. Improvements included spending more time together, less anger and friction, more patience and tolerance, better awareness to discourse style and word choices plus an overall improvement in the atmosphere at home. All the participating parents without exception stated that it was a worthy journey, which they would recommend to all parents to experience.

The novelty of the study lies in the fact that today in Russian scientific works the topic of psychological intelligence is not sufficiently covered. The study of its connections with emotional intelligence will allow us to understand the relationship between these characteristics for a deeper understanding of the emotional sphere of adolescents, and the study of its connections with the mother’s parenting style will allow us to better understand the process of its formation.Objective. investigate the interrelationships of emotional intelligence and psychological reasonableness of adolescents with the peculiarities of maternal attitude towards them.Materials and methods. Adolescents aged 13 to 15 years (n = 43) were studied as an empirical object. To study emotional intelligence, the methodology “Emotional intelligence of adolescents” by Sadokov and Voronkin was chosen, and the “Scale of Psychological reasonableness, SPR/PMS” was used to study psychological reasonableness in the adaptation of Novikova and Kornilova. The “Teenagers about parents” technique was using the peculiarities of the mother’s relationship to the teenager were established.Results. The emotional intelligence of adolescents tends to be low, while maintaining the average values of psychological reasonableness. Statistically significant negative associations were found between hostility, inconsistency, and criticality of the mother towards the teenager with factors of emotional intelligence and psychological reasonableness. A positive relationship was also revealed between the closeness of the mother with the teenager and his psychological intelligence.Discussion. The results obtained are confirmed in the concepts of other authors. Thus, the preservation of an average level of psychological intelligence with low emotional intelligence of adolescents is explained by the abundance of psychological information in the Internet space in which adolescents spend most of their time. Data on the negative relationship of hostility and criticism of the mother with the peculiarities of emotional intelligence and psychological reasonableness are also confirmed: parents who reject, ignore and criticize a teenager can mainly raise teenagers with a low level of emotional intelligence who do not seek to discuss their problems.

This study aims to explore the overlapping influences of the home and school on peer victimization in adolescents under the notion of home-school partnership and to investigate how the parent-child relationship, teacher-student relationship, teenage depressive symptoms are related to peer victimization by constructing a moderated mediation model. It surveyed 1,710 students in 5-8 grades, using the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment, Student-Teacher Relationship Scale (brief version), Multidimensional Peer Victimization Scale, and Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (brief version). Research findings show that the parent-child relationship had a direct impact on peer victimization and indirectly affected peer victimization via the mediation of teenage depressive symptoms; and that teacher-student relationships had moderating effects on the three paths in the mediation model, playing roles in enhancing the protection effect of the parent-child relationship against peer victimization, weakening the possible impact of the parent-child relationship on teenager depression, and alleviating the predictive effect of depressive symptoms on peer victimization. The research suggests that home-school partnership is a viable avenue for the prevention of school bullying.

This study examined relations among teenagers’ and their mothers’ reports of values and autonomy expectations in relation to school misconduct in 58 Caucasian and 66 Asian high school students attending an international school in Hong Kong. Caucasian students were reported to exhibit more misconduct than did Asian students. Across cultures, teenagers’ endorsements of the values related to Openness to Change, and early autonomy expectations correlated positively whereas values related to Conservation correlated negatively with misconduct measures. Valuing tradition and conformity correlated negatively with disciplinary violations. Differences between teenagers’ and their mothers’ values significantly predicted disciplinary violations, providing evidence for the influence of parent/teenager interaction effects within families. The mediating role of values and autonomy expectations in explaining the link between culture and disciplinary violations is discussed in the light of these findings.

The limitations of these approaches have been noted. While prescriptive parent education programs are clearly inappropriate where teenagers are the focus, few suitable group programs have been developed with a practical alternative orientation.This paper reports on one form of parent education being developed at Springvale Community Health Centre which serves to explore the practical relevance and benefits of a family systems approach in support-group programs for parents of adolescent children. Essentially, the family systems approach locates the parent-teenager relationship in the context of the family. This article examines intergenerational relations from the perspective of Taiwanese youth. Specifically, the major focus is on how the relations between second and third generations may be affected by prior family experiences between first, second, and third generations. Possible effects of the three-generation living arrangement on intergenerational relations are also explored. Panel data of 2,500 seventh graders in 2000 in northern Taiwan show that half of teenagers were raised in coresidence living arrangement with grandparents. Results confirm that relations between grandparents and parents and between grandparents and grandchildren do affect parent-teenager relations. Notably, more so than coresidence, the early family experience of being cared for by paternal grandparents produces significant positive effects on adolescent-father relations and negative adolescent-father relations if cared for by maternal grandparents. It is suggested that the impact of earlier family process on subsequent family relations is worth further investigation.

The informant in this research is taken from 8 disability teenager which are daksha, deaf/speech impairment and intelectual disability. The result shows that health topics that informant need to know is reproductive health, hygiene and health life style. The communicators of health topics selected by informants are healthy staff and teacher. Methods and media selected by informants are based on their impairment: teenager with daksha disability choose the method of disscussion and playing games with the media learning in the form of moving image; teenager with intelectual disability choose a method of sharing and disscussion with media learning in the form of illustrated books and moving image (film/video); deaf/speech impaired teenager didn’t choose any spesific methods., but they asked to use the sign language in delivery the information. The selection method health promotion have to involve teenager with disability. In planning health promotion methods and media for teenager with disability have to involve teacher and/or their parent, who know and understand the needs of each disable teenager.

Scientific interest in students’ emotional and psychosocial experiences has been increasing in the last years due to their influence on students’ learning processes and academic performance. The present manuscript tries to go further in the study of the relationship between perceived parenting socialization and academic performance by analyzing not only their direct effects, but also by testing their indirect influence through other variables such as students’ psychological and school maladjustment, especially focusing on gender differences (both of students and parents). The sample comprised 823 students (416 males and 407 females) from the Basque Country (Spain), with ages ranging between 12 and 16 years (M = 13.7, SD = 1.2). Students completed a sociodemographic data form, the PARQ-Control questionnaire, and the BASC-S3 test. Teachers answered an ad hoc question on each student’s academic performance. The data showed that, both for males and females, the same structure of parent–teenager relationship predicted teenagers’ academic performance, via psychological and school maladjustment. However, the intensity of the relationship between parental acceptance and teenagers’ results in all the other factors differed depending on teenagers’ gender. Fathers’ influence was greater in males, and mothers’ influence was higher in females. This study is considered a starting point for a theoretical model predicting academic performance and psychological and school maladjustment among teenagers.

Some patterns of child-parent relationships during this period of family development are described. The methodological features of conducting research on child-parent interactions are indicated. The conclusions made on the ground of this literature review may be helpful when carrying out scientific investigation or during family counseling practice.

The death of a parent can be a devastating and painful experience for a teenager. Teenagers lose love and parental figures. The correct self-concept is needed by teenagers in living their lives. To develop the correct self-concept, of course, involve other parties, such as orphanages. This study aims to describe the self-concept of adolescents who have orphaned status at the Dorkas Porong Orphanage, Sidoarjo. This study the author uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological perspective. Data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews of the five research subjects who were orphans. The results showed that in general, they already had a good self-concept because of the Christian spiritual development at the orphanage. This spiritual guidance guides teenagers to learn to accept and appreciate themselves positively. They show: 1) a life style that is full of enthusiasm in carrying out daily life, 2) has a clear purpose in life, 3) can carry out daily responsibilities at the orphanage with enthusiasm and 4) is able to adapt to the environment. In addition, the formation of their self-concept supported by a family-friendly environment becomes a motivation for self-acceptance of adolescents and helps adolescents to live a normal adolescence, even without the presence of their parents.

The pattern of the mother's feeding to the child is influenced by education, knowledge of nutrition, economics, family support and employment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the socio-economic relationship of single parents with the frequency of eating and adolescent nutritional status. The study population was a teenager (son/daughter) aged 14-16 to 91 people. Sampling technique with simple random sampling. Inclusion criteria were teenagers (sons/daughters) who do not live in huts, single parents (father alone or mother only). Samples in the study of 87 people. The instruments used for research are brief questionnaires about demographic data (adolescence, single parents, single parent causes, parental education, parental work). Questionnaire for special data frequency meal in a day. Observation sheet to analyze the weight and height of teenagers. Analysis of research data using Chi Square. The results showed that the acquired value P = 0,000 means there is a relationship between the social economy of a single parent with the frequency of adolescent eating and P = 0,003 means there is a relationship between a single parent social economy with a nutritional status of teenagers. Tujuan dari penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan sosial ekonomi orang tua tunggal dengan frekuensi makan dan status gizi remaja. Populasi penelitian remaja (putra/putri) usia 14-16 tahun sebanyak 91 orang. Teknik sampling dengan simple random sampling. Kriteria inklusi adalah remaja (putra/putri) yang tidak tinggal di pondok, orang tua tunggal (ayah saja atau ibu saja). Sampel dalam penelitian 87 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan kuesioner singkat tentang data demografi (umur remaja, orang tua tunggal, penyebab orang tua menjadi tunggal, pendidikan orang tua, pekerjaan orang tua). Kuesioner untuk data khusus frekuensi makan dalam sehari. Lembar observasi untuk menganalisi berat badan dan tinggi badan remaja. Analisis data menggunakan Chi Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan diperoleh nilai p=0,000 berarti ada hubungan antara sosial ekonomi orang tua tunggal dengan frekuensi makan remaja dan p=0,003 berarti ada hubungan antara sosial ekonomi orang tua tunggal dengan status gizi remaja. The results of a theoretical and empirical study of a child&apos;s and a teenager&apos;s representations of stressful situations, experiencing specific emotions, and coping with stress in comparison with adult assessments of child and adolescent stress are presented. Situations of evaluation and hopelessness are shown to be common for children and adolescents. Depending on the stress level, children distinguish the situation of loss, but adolescents distinguish the situation of abandonment. In the experience of stressful situations, the emotions associated with them and strategies for coping with stress are determined. The children are more often associated with stress and the experience of fear; the teenagers experience fear, anxiety, and resentment. The phenomenon of replacing a stressor (a stressful situation) with subjective experiences of fear, anxiety, anger, and resentment was found in both age groups but significantly more expressed in the children&apos;s sample. Children&apos;s and adolescents&apos; profiles of coping with stress as a way of reducing tension and achieving an anti-stress state show the greatest similarity compared to the assessment of the types of stressful situations and emotions. The typical coping strategies, such as seeking Relaxing Diversions, friends, and Problem solving, were revealed. The differences between the children&apos;s and adolescents&apos; own assessments of stress and coping strategies and the assessments of adults were demonstrated. An adult tends to infantilize both a child and a teenager, attributing to the child such coping strategies as Social support (parent support), acting up, and seeking Relaxing diversion, and to the teenager, social support (parent support), friends, and acting up. In conclusion, the prospects for the study of child and adolescent stress — the construction of hierarchical models of stress and coping strategies in children and adolescents, including both conscious, partially conscious, and unconscious characteristics of stress and the resource capacity of a child of different ages in experiencing and successfully coping with everyday life problems — are shown.

AbstractThe Belgian strategic plan to eliminate measles contains several vaccination strategies including routine immunisation programmes and catch-up campaigns. A new expanded programme on immunisation-based survey (2016) assessed the uptake of the recommended measles–mumps–rubella (MMR) vaccine in three different cohorts: toddlers, adolescents and parents of toddlers. A two-stage cluster sampling technique was used to select 875 toddlers (age 18–24 months) and 1250 adolescents (born in 2000) from 107 municipalities in Flanders. After consent of the parent(s), 746 (85.2%) families of toddlers and 1012 (81.0%) families of adolescents were interviewed at home. Measles vaccination coverage was high at 18–24 months (96.2%) and 81.5% were vaccinated at recommended age. Toddlers who had two siblings or a non-working mother or changed vaccinator were more at risk for not being vaccinated. Coverage of the teenager dose reached 93.5% and was lower in adolescents with educational underachievement or whose mother was part-time working or with a non-Belgian background. Only 56.0% of mothers and 48.3% of fathers remembered having received at least one measles-containing vaccine. Although measles vaccination coverage in toddlers meets the required standards for elimination, administration of the teenager dose of MMR vaccine and parent compliance to the recent measles catch-up campaign in Flanders leave room for improvement.

Burova notes, the term “dependence” (addiction) was “borrowed from the lexicon of psychiatrists to facilitate the identifi cation of the problem of the Internet by associating it with characteristic social and psychological problems. The problem of computer addiction in adolescents arose most acutely during the period of rapid development of information technology and modern children do not imagine their life, leisure and study without a computer. Psychologists are sounding the alarm that computer games cause addiction, which is analogous to drug addiction. Currently, the computer takes the fi rst place in importance in the life of a teenager. Teenagers are mostly at risk. This diffi cult period of puberty exposes many acute problems and imperfections of young people. Many people fail to cope with the internal and external confl icts that have arisen, as a result, there appears a desire to escape from reality, which contributes to the emergence of computer addiction. The purpose of our study is to study the features of computer addiction in adolescents from complete and single-parent families. For the study, we used the Kimberly-Young test for Internet addiction and screening diagnostics of computer addiction. Our study involved  adolescents aged - years. Adolescents are showing an average level of Internet addiction. This means that most teenagers are at risk of Internet addiction. Among the adolescents surveyed, almost an equal number of people are at the stage of passion and at the fi rst stage of computer addiction, while a small number of respondents were identifi ed at extreme values. The second stage of dependence was not revealed among the respondents.

This study used a strengths-based approach to examine the distribution of perceived parent involvement factors during high school from the perspective of academically successful Black male college students. Black males enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a university in the southern region of the United States completed Yan and Lin’s Parent Involvement During High School survey, adapted from the National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988. Results revealed that among the distribution of the three factors (family obligation, parent information network, and family norms), Family norms was perceived as the most prevalent parent involvement subscale factor during high school for this particular population. The family norms factor subscale’s parent–teenager relationship emerged as the most dominant variable followed by educational expectations. We delineate implications for school counselors and research.

Adolescence signifies a pivotal transition from childhood to adulthood, marked by various explorations, including sexual behavior. The prevalence of casual sexual behavior among teenagers has raised concerns, influenced by numerous factors, notably the quality of parent-teenager relationships. However, a significant knowledge gap persists among adolescents regarding the meaning and consequences of free sexual behavior. This study aimed to explore the relationship between teenagers' knowledge concerning the impact of promiscuous sexual behavior in SMA Negeri 1 South Payabungan, Class XI IPS. Using an analytical survey method with a cross-sectional approach, the study involved 32 participants. Data were collected through a questionnaire to assess teenagers' knowledge levels. Analysis revealed that the majority of respondents exhibited good knowledge (65.6%), with a minority demonstrating sufficient (15.6%) or insufficient knowledge (18.8%). Furthermore, statistical analysis unveiled correlations between knowledge levels and certain demographic factors, such as age (p value = 0.572), environment (p value = 0.597), and information sources (p value = 0.000). These findings underscore the importance of addressing knowledge gaps and enhancing awareness among teenagers regarding the repercussions of casual sexual behavior. In conclusion, the study highlights the need for targeted interventions and educational initiatives to empower teenagers with comprehensive knowledge and promote responsible sexual behavior in SMA Negeri 1 South Payabungan, ultimately contributing to healthier adolescent development.

Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The unit of analysis in this study is the family. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The conclusion of this study is than in overcoming the association of teenagers who are increasingly free in terms of dating, sunch as by conducting socialization and counseling in every school in Koto bangun, then giving advice to teenagers who are found dating in a place which is quiet, giving a warning and a sanction if the teenager who has been given advice still reperats it, namely by notifying the parent at home and will process it at the nagari office of they have deviaded outside the limits. But by doing several ways to overcome this, there are still teenagers eho do deviant behavior, especially in terms of dating. So this is certainly a common concern for both parents at home, the community, and the nagari government.

Background. Research into the hardiness of an individual in difficult life situations gains significance in the context of the dynamism and complexity of adolescent development, associated with the general rapid change of events in modern life, creating stress factors. Family remains for a teenager an important factor affecting the development and maintenance of hardiness, as well as the formation of tools for coping with difficult life situations. Objective. The study focuses on the relationship of hardiness and adolescents’ ways to respond to difficult and everyday stressful situations with parameters of child-parental relations. Sample. The study involved 162 adolescents between 14 and 16 (63 boys and 99 girls), brought up in complete (108 people) and single-parent (54 people) families. Methods. The study applied included the author’s questionnaire, the questionnaire of S. Maddi's hardiness in the adaptation of D.A. Leont’ev and E.I. Rasskazova (2006); the questionnaire of child-parent relations “Teenagers about parents” (E. Schaefer) in the adaptation of L.I. Wasserman, I.A. Gor’kovaya, Ye.Ye. Romitsyna (2004). Results. The level of hardiness in adolescents corresponds to the lower boundary of the standard-average values. The highest results were obtained on the involvement in life, reflecting age characteristics and the lowest values corresponded to challenge, which shows the limited social experience of adolescents. The questionnaire revealed factors in the ways to respond to difficult and everyday stressful situations. The analysis of child-parent relations showed that the adolescent’s perception of parental attitude as hostile is an indicator, provoking a decrease in hardiness. In adolescence, family factors have a greater impact on the choice of ways to respond to stressful situations. Conclusion. The role of child-parental relations for the hardiness of adolescents has been shown, gender specificity of parameters and interrelations between hardiness, ways to respond to difficult situations, and characteristics of child-parent relations has been identified. On the basis of the developed questionnaire, factors for ways to respond to difficult life situations and stress were obtained (the factor “Independent search for solutions”, the factor “Transferring responsibility”, and the factor “Avoiding problems”).

Introduction: The quality of life of children with sickle cell disease (SCD) depends on the severity, timing and number of painful episodes (vaso-occlusive crises, VOC) and their need for medical treatment and hospitalizations. The objective of this study was to explore the experiences of pediatric patients and their families during VOC. Methods: This qualitative study used semi-structured one-on-one and focus group interviews, designed in partnership with two patients and one parent, in a single center, tertiary care pediatric university-affiliated hospital. Two groups of participants were interviewed independently: (1) adolescent patients aged 12 to 18 years old hospitalised within the last 2 years for VOC, (2) parents of pediatric patients with SCD hospitalised within the last 2 years for VOC. Data was transcribed in full and analysed using NVivo12. Descriptive thematic content analysis was performed by coding themes emerging from data. After validating codes through interjudge assessment by consensus, themes from teenagers’ and parent's discourses were systematically compared for the final analysis. Results: Between June and August 2018, 8 interviews were conducted. 10 parents and 5 adolescents participated. Teenagers’ and parents’ answers mirrored each other's. Prompt pain relief was crucial, although the side effects of pain relief medications used were an added source of suffering. Recent quality improvement initiatives such as standardised order sheets were noteworthy improvements, though personalizing care to each patient's with pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods was also important to participants. Given the unpredictability and severity of VOC, their impact on both patients’ and families’ lives were substantial, as was the long term emotional burden. Parents felt guilty given the hereditary nature of the disease, they encouraged neonatal and prenatal testing, and they sought definitive treatments for both VOC and SCD. Tensions within parent-teenager relationships were described centered on developing autonomy and protecting the child to improve adherence to treatments. Conclusion: Participants emphasized the need to provide timely adequate analgesia, through both standardised quality improvement initiatives and a personalised approach to analgesia. Understanding the impact of VOC on patients’ lives and their socio-familial context is important to tailor clinical interventions.

<p>The study examined prediction of teenager depression based on social skill, peer attachment, parental attachment and self-esteem. The type of this study is descriptive-corolation. Data from survey of 382 high school daughter students in basis of morgan sampling table were used. At this study we used Multistage Cluster Method for sampeling. Information of this study collecting by Kutcher Adolescent Depression Scale (2002), Social Skills Inventory and Foster teen Ayndrbytzn TISS (1992), Test Adolescent Attachment to Parent and Peer (IPPA-R) (1978) and Ruchester Self-Esteem Scale (1998). The Statistical method used for data analysis in the study is Multivariable regression and Pearson correlation. The results indicated that there was reversed significant relation between teenager Depression and Social Skills. There was also reverse significant realation between Depression, Peer and Parent Attachment and Self-Esteem. Furthermore it revealed that between mother attachment and father attachment, mother attachment had more share on prediction of adolescence depression. Among three variables of social skills, parental attachment, peer attachment and self-esteem the social skill had the least effect on prediction of adolescent depression but others had a significant effect.</p>

In response to this, the INSPiRED Teenager framework was developed to encourage collaborative career-based learning between parents and carers and their teenage child. A mixed-methods approach was implemented to explore the effectiveness of the two programme delivery formats. The findings show evidence of improving teenagers' career confidence and career direction clarity and also parents/carers' understanding of the changing world of work, their ability to have informed conversations with their teenagers, and their confidence and clarity to help their teenager make informed career decisions.

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan komunikasi orangtua-remaja, pendidikan orangtua dengan perilaku seksual berisiko pada remaja Tahun 2015. Penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan rancangan cross sectional. Besar sampel adalah 88 orang. Teknik sampling adalah total sampling. Analisa data menggunakan chi square dan regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian didapatkan perilaku seksual remaja risiko rendah (91,2%), komunikasi orangtua-remaja baik (57,2%). Ada hubungan komunikasi orangtua-remaja dengan perilaku seksual berisiko (p=0,03), ada hubungan pendidikan orangtua dengan perilaku seksual berisiko (p=0,04). Simpulan penelitian ada hubungan komunikasi orangtua-remaja, pendidikan orangtua dengan perilaku seksual berisiko dan komunikasi orangtua-remaja merupakan variabel dominan berhubungan dengan perilaku seksual berisiko pada remaja. This study looked at the relationships between over parenting and growing outcomes (childhood psychosocial development) on a sample of 347 students of university of Okara students. The adolescent's gender, family intactness, and parent-child conflict's moderating impacts on these connections were also looked at. According to the findings, both father and mother over parenting were associated with young Chinese adolescents' positive developmental outcomes and egocentrism. In addition, the relationships between maternal over parenting and egocentrism and constructive youth development were mitigated by father-child conflict. Egocentrism increases at increasing degrees of father-child conflict and when maternal over parenting was more severe, favorable kid development rose. Additionally discovered to have controlling things were the adolescent's gender and family intactness. The findings shed light on how familial circumstances affect the link between excessive parenting and teenager. This study is a pioneer in evaluating the effects of helicopter parenting on teenagers because there are few comparable studies employing adolescent samples.
