Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Different friction mechanisms for coated board were investigated. Friction due to adhesive forces, interlocking of asperities and plastic deformation, respectively, was evaluated for coated board. The measurements of friction were combined with measurements of surface energy and measurements of gloss variations. The samples coated with only latex showed significant frictional forces but no signs of polishing or plastic deformation. Friction seemed here to depend on adhesive forces and a correlation could be observed between the surface energy and the coefficients of friction. Adhesive forces seemed to be of less importance for coatings with normal binder content. Increases in gloss variations indicated that friction was partly due to plastic deformation resulting from polishing. Samples calendered at room temperature showed clear signs of polishing while samples calendered at increased temperatures showed little or no polishing. These samples were probably too smooth on a particle level to create wear on each other during friction measurements. The base substrate, on the other hand, did not seem to have any influence on friction, and it was thus concluded that friction depended mostly on asperities on a particle size scale and plastic deformation due to polishing.

Abstract:
This is a trilogy of papers about land and people and the ecology they create together. Leah lives on the coast in South Wales. Lisen lives on the island of Gotland in Sweden. Gail lives in Yorkshire in the north of England. What connects us and our writings is the land, its history, its place in industry and what we do and don’t see. The cuts in the land reflect the cuts in our minds, unnegotiated edits in our stories, and disconnects in political discourses. This trilogy of papers documents some of these cuts and joins. We speak about the land we walk on and the stories told about it. We point to scars in the landscape and ask how they connect with those in the lungs and on the wrist. The landscape of the present holds clues about its past and its future. And the timescapes in the writings evoke a necessity to connect time and place, human and non-human colonising and liberatory methods and live with a maddening, flickering lenticularity (Pillow, 2019).

Abstract:
Often the setting of a novel can be looked at as a minor portion of a work. However, with Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles 1892 landscapes seem to be close to the main character, Tess. The story is about a teenage girl who experiences life in six different places; Marlott, Trantridge, Talbothays, Wellbridge, Flintcomb-Ash and Stonehenge. Each location shows a phase in her life and has a great impact on her in different ways. They allow the reader to understand her feeling and emotions at the time. This research examines Hardy’s use of setting and its reflection on the main character in order to show how the two are related together.

Abstract:
Introduction: Natural child birth is the birth without routine medical intervention particularly anesthesia. Natural child birth attempts to minimize the medical intervention particularly use of anesthetic medication and surgeries such as episiotomies, forceps and caesarean section. Benefits of Natural birthing are faster recovery after the birth and less vaginal tearing since the women will push instinctively during the delivery and shorter the pushing time, ability to change the birthing position, decreased risk of needing of risky intervention avoid side effect associated with the epidural and ability to bond and breastfeed the child immediately. Aim of this study: To assess the knowledge of nursing officers before the awareness programme on natural birthing, To assess the effectiveness of awareness programme on knowledge regarding natural birthing among nursing officers and to find out the association between pre-test knowledge with the selected demographic variable. Methodology: A Quantitative research approach was adopted under the study. The study was conducted in selected hospitals of Dehradun. Convenient sampling technique was used to select the sample. The sample compromised of 40 nursing officer. The tools developed and utilized for the study was semi structured knowledge questionnaire regarding natural birthing. It was prepared to determine the knowledge of nursing officers regarding natural birthing in selected hospital of Dehradun. Awareness programme was also prepared to determine its effectiveness. Result: The study revealed that the mean post test-test knowledge score (29) of nursing officers regarding natural birthing were higher than the mean pre-test knowledge (18.02). In pre-test majority of participants 7(17.5%) of nursing officers had below average knowledge, 28(70%) had average knowledge and 5(12.5%) had above average knowledge and in the post-test assessment 4(10%) of nursing officers had average knowledge, 36(90%) had above average level of knowledge regarding natural birthing and no one was in below average of knowledge. Conclusion: The study concludes that the planned nursing intervention is an effective strategy in improving knowledge of nursing officers regarding natural birthing and more educational strategies can be undertaken to enhance the knowledge of nursing officers. The purpose of the present study was to find out the level of knowledge regarding natural birthing in selected hospitals in Dehradun.

Abstract:
The paper wrapping is one of traditional cultures in Japan, like the paper folding Origami. The technical interest is related to how to decorate goods beautifully along the shapes, and also the requests from daily-life usage are to resolve how to protect goods from external shocks, to carry out materials/goods safely, and so on. Thus, the paper wrapping is intelligent and creative work. This paper addresses a method which can design the target-oriented wrapping procedure successfully and support users’ wrapping works effectively. In order to attain this objective, the authors introduce the knowledge usable in the paper wrapping process and then construct a stage tree to represent various kinds of wrapping means systematically under this knowledge. The authors propose a framework which makes up the paper wrapping process so as to be appropriate to individual target-objects and describe an approach to support the wrapping process visually.

Abstract:
We experimentally investigated compressive behaviors of a paper and a paper coated by polyethylene resin. The initial thickness of sheets of paper measured under a compressive stress of 4.5kPa was widely distributed in comparison with the basis weight, although the results based on the ISO 534 standard (under compressive stress of 100kPa) had relatively little dispersion. For compressive deformation, the thickness immediately decreased under low compressive stress, because the gap between fibers in the paper collapsed. After that, the variation of the thickness under higher compression was small due to the compression of fibers. We found that although the resin-coat layers did not have an insignificant effect on compressive compliance above 250kPa, the compliance of the coated paper was larger than that of uncoated paper.

Abstract:
Designing diffractive optical elements is crucial for efficient development of THz techniques. Here, we consider paper structures and we analyze their advantages and disadvantages in fast prototyping. The discussion about using material parameters like refractive index and absorption coefficient in designing diffractive optical elements is shown. We analyze the influence of phase step mismatch, of attenuation of real structure, and of nonuniform illumination on the efficiency of the structure. All these features result in worsening of the diffraction efficiency but they do not seem to have such significant influence as shadow effect introduced by fast varying zones. Diffractive elements can be designed with very good accordance with experimental results which makes them ideal for possible applications. Paper optics scan be used more for fast prototyping; nevertheless its performance can be increased by placing it inside water protecting foil.
