Field and greenhouse experiments were conducted at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2006 and 2007 to evaluate the herbicide tembotrione for postemergence grass control. Tembotrione inhibits the p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) enzyme, which aids in the formation of essential plant constituents for photosynthesis. Tembotrione efficacy was examined in the greenhouse on large crabgrass, giant foxtail, shattercane, and fall panicum. We hypothesized that wild variants of this species are more mycorrhizal dependent than the cultivars due to selection against mycorrhizae in agricultural conditions. Na região Amazônica do Norte do Brasil, Panicum maximum cultivares Mombaça, Tanzânia e Massai causam cólica severa e morte durante o período chuvoso quando os pastos em brotação são pastejados pelos equídeos. Em oito surtos estudados, um total de 52 de 153 equídeos adoeceram e 19 morreram (10 mulas e 9 cavalos). This study was conducted to investigate and characterize more systematically factors affecting both after-ripening and stratification effectiveness, and the aging that can occur concomitantly with after-ripening. Warm, winter temperatures in the southeastern USA allow for fall establishment and winter growth of cool-season legumes that may provide nitrogen to the spring perenniating crop of switchgrass.
