Abstract:
This study is dedicated to the links between computing and rhetoric, and more particularly to the way we interact with interfaces. To this end, we have mobilized a part of the ancient rhetoric's corpus which we have tried to create a discussion with some contemporary writing on this issue. We first questioned the notion of rhetoric itself to see if it was possible to apply it to computer science. Once a framework was determined, we looked with Cicero, but even more with Aristotle to apprehend in what the ancient perspective could allow us to highlight some mechanisms that are at stake when using computers. We examined the role of the _decorum_, but also of the enthymeme and metaphor. We have tried to approach each of these notions as closely as possible to the thinking of their authors in order to allow us to shed light on how users understand what to do with computer interfaces. This perspective also allows us to highlight implicit mechanism, but also limitations and even failures from a number of examples. An interface similar to a word processor has been created in this study. This makes it possible to produce complex documents independently of the file format. It is for us to validate a number of our hypotheses and to propose an application to our approach

The constitution of the civilization and the culture has been issue of studies and hypotheticals for many years. The discussion in Psychoanalysis were ruled, mainly, by the conflict existent between the freedom instinct and the restrictions that the living together imposes. This impasse, therefore, brands the main discussion about the social anguish that can be observed in civilization. Nowadays, because of the new characteristics found in the contemporary society, the discussion gains a new landing. So far, the abandon is placed as the new pillar in the current social anguish study. Since the project proposed by the modernity in which the man is placed as measure of all world’s relations, put him in a rupture movement with all traditions and customs that, so far, sheltered his acts. In this way, this work tries to understand the abandon notion inside the Psychoanalysis as well as its influence in the humankind social and cultural structure. For this, after bibliographic review, we have made an analysis, having as focus the abandon, of different psychoanalytical works that retracts different periods of the civilization development. Finally, after these analyses, we comprehended that the abandon does not constitute something negative in the culture development. The abandon constitutes, in this way, the possibility to recognize the absence, the incompleteness of its existence and thus, enables the man to throw himself in the direction of the representations that can fulfill the empty space left by the lost object. Thus, the abandon demonstrates its importance not only to what regards to the development of the gregarious instinct, so essential to a civilization, but also in the constitution... Abstract:
This diploma thesis presents a project documentation for construction of a zoo pavilion with a restaurant. The structure has to be designed in compliance with regulations for buildings with almost zero energy consumption. Its construction site is located within the existing compound of Prague’s zoo on plot no. 1491/1. The pavilion is proposed to house giant pandas. The building has three floors- one underground and two above. It is covered by a flat green roof. In terms of circulation, the structure is composed from two parts. The first one is formed by premises for the pandas, including necessary facilities for their wellbeing and their breeding; and the second part is visitors’ part, including restaurant, gift shop and amenities. The building is enclosed by two exterior expositions for pandas which are connected with the interior exposition premises by two ramps- tunnels. There is a roof terrace adjacent to the restaurant for visitors to enjoy the view of pandas in their exterior grounds. The vertical structure of the pavilion for giant pandas is a combination of load bearing brick walls and cast-in-place concrete walls- the underground floor and the ground floor is formed by the cast-in-place concrete walls and the upper floor is formed by the brick walls made out of autoclaved aerated concrete blocks. The horizontal structures are formed by prestressed concreted floor panels or in the case of the upper floor by cast-in-place reinforced concrete slabs.

Abstract: A certain type of psychic function, specific anguish and neurosis, would be subjacent to the symptoms presented by patients who suffer panic attacks, according to what was observed in the longitudinal, transference, and ana1ytical listening contexts, during the psychotherapeutic process of these people and according to the ana1ysisof this material, carried out through the psychoanalytical reference, based on the concepts created by S. FREUD, D.W. WINNICOTT and REFERENCES, ITomprevious research done by the author. We concluded that these people presented a psychic function, a kind of anxiety and a neurotic process, different in configuration and structure when compared to the standard psychoneurotic pictures, due to the precarious environment situation in relation to the affective necessities that happened during their whole life processo Hence, the current panic attack would be a symptom caused by a life process, but it would have a positive value, since after its onset, these people usually develop an identity based on their own resources and potentials, which were until then, guided by a false SELF, or by ANOTHERSELF, kept by strict REFERENCES, indicated and maintained by REFERENCE-PEOPLE, which have been followed strictly, since childhood. WE a1soconcluded that the onset of panic attacks were associated to the fear of being abandoned by the REFERENCE-PEOPLE, and by the possibility of losing these REFERENCES, since the latter provide them with guarantees, security and identity, which maintain the defenses that support, organize and keep their false SELF. The recurrence of the panic attacks is frequently associated to the adhesion and/or substitution of a REFERENCE or REFERENCE-PERSON by another/others, including the search for professionals and drug therapy to treat the panic attacks

Speer, James Hardy 1971. "A dendrochronological record of pandora moth (Coloradia pandora, Blake) outbreaks in central Oregon." Thesis, The University of Arizona, 1997. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/291599.

Full text
Abstract:
Pandora moth (Coloradia pandora Blake) is a phytophagous insect, defoliating ponderosa pine trees in the western United States. However, long-term studies of this insect and its effects on the forest ecosystem have not been conducted. Using dendrochronological techniques, I examined past timing and intensity of defoliation through its effects on radial growth of trees in the forests of south central Oregon. Pandora moth leaves a distinctive ring-width "signature" that was easily identifiable in the wood. The growth for the first year of the signature was half the normal ring-width with narrow latewood. The following two years produced extremely narrow rings, with the entire suppression lasting from 4 to 18 years. Twenty-two individual outbreaks were reconstructed from this 620 year chronology. I found that pandora moth outbreaks were episodic on individual sites, with a return interval of 9 to 156 years. Conversely, on the regional scale of south central Oregon, outbreaks demonstrated a 37-year periodicity. On average, pandora moth defoliation caused a 29% mean periodic growth reduction in defoliated ponderosa pine trees. Spread maps of the first year that sites demonstrated suppression were plotted revealing an apparent annual spread of the outbreaks. Examination of a fire history on one pandora moth outbreak site suggested that pandora moth outbreaks delay fire by interrupting the needle fall needed for fire spread. Superposed epoch analysis showed that the year that the outbreak was first recorded was significantly dry and the fourth year prior was significantly wet. Therefore, climate may be a triggering factor in pandora moth outbreaks. The stem analysis demonstrated that the percent volume reduction was greatest at the base of the tree and declined further up the bole. The percent volume reduction in the canopy of the trees was variable with outlying high and low values. The mean volume reduction per outbreak was .053 m³ per tree. Although this insect is considered a forest pest and causes inconvenience for people living nearby, pandora moth is not as widespread and damaging as some other phytophagous insects. However, its very distinctive ring-width signature and the length of the ponderosa pine record enables reconstruction of very long outbreak histories, which may deepen our understanding of the interaction between defoliating insects and their ecosystem.

Abstract:
Background: The relationship of panic attacks (PA), panic disorder (PD) and agoraphobia (AG) is controversial. The aim of the current study is to prospectively examine the 10-year natural course of PA, PD and AG in the first three decades of life, their stability and their reciprocal transitions. Methods: DSM-IV syndromes were assessed via Composite International Diagnostic Interview – Munich version in a 10-year prospective-longitudinal community study of 3,021 subjects aged 14–24 years at baseline. Results: (1) Incidence patterns for PA (9.4%), PD (with and without AG: 3.4%) and AG (5.3%) revealed differences in age of onset, incidence risk and gender differentiation. (2) Temporally primary PA and PD revealed only a moderately increased risk for subsequent onset of AG, and primary AG had an even lower risk for subsequent PA and PD. (3) In strictly prospective analyses, all baseline groups (PA, PD, AG) had low remission rates (0–23%). Baseline PD with AG or AG with PA were more likely to have follow-up AG, PA and other anxiety disorders and more frequent complications (impairment, disability, help-seeking, comorbidity) as compared to PD without AG and AG without PA. Conclusions: Differences in incidence patterns, syndrome progression and outcome, and syndrome stability over time indicate that AG exists as a clinically significant phobic condition independent of PD. The majority of agoraphobic subjects in this community sample never experienced PA, calling into question the current pathogenic assumptions underlying the classification of AG as merely a consequence of panic. The findings point to the necessity of rethinking diagnostic concepts and DSM diagnostic hierarchies.

Abstract: Even the most optimistics prognostics show an incredible populational growth for the next decades. As demographic rates grow, people usually see themselves in queuing situations and crowd problems. The following research seeks to analyze movements, tendencies, and flowing velocities of human crowds in jam situations. Situations of panic runaways, always full of complex variables, will be reduced to prototypes that in its essence represent reality. The results from the research will be useful in many ordinary activities, such as in cinema, theaters, and convention centres projects. In this case the focus is in the improvement of comfort standards for pedestrians, reducing their exposal time to stressful situations. Many researches have already been done in this area, and the models have improved a lot as they introduced psychological variables as main tools to predict human behavior. Humans rarely behave predictably as a fluid. This research goal is the modeling of escape situations, and the mechanical and psychological of collective behavior. To do so, a bibliographic research was made, to discover mechanical and psychological variables that could influence the escape process. The analyses of this information defined witch of the variables were useless, or how to alternate those aiming reduced escape times, panic levels in the crowd and accidents. As a final result a model was developed. The model allows simulating crowds in panic during their escape process. Some examples are also shown, applications of the model are able to help arquitects and engineers in the search of project solutions for facilities

Abstract: This work discusses the concept of fear in D.W. Winnicott in its multiple faces assuming that different meanings of the concept are associated, in etiologic sphere, to emotional maturational process. The bibliographical review of the author followed the term fear and its associated concepts such as phobia, anxiety, panic, night terror, unthinkable agony, nightmare, etc. The research script is divided into two moments: the presentation of the concept of fear in context of the oppsoition health-sickness and normal-pathology, and in the maturational process temporality. On the first moment, fear is seen as an affective defensive phenomenon that enables the person to face the world and communicate his/her emotional condition. Therefore it may be considered as diagnostic material. Thus, fear is not taken as a psychopathological prejudice, but as a tool that allow us to understand the existential condition of the human being as such. It is an universal phenomenon whose affection or non-affection, regarding its different contexts, grades and levels of intensity, reveals the normal or pathological condition of the person. On the second monent, the tipology of fear has its origins in the stages of emotional maturational process which comprehends interpersonal relations between mother and son in the absolute dependency, relative dependency and in triangular formation during relative indenpendency. Such types of fear are then configurated as fear related to psychological survival and identity, fear of separation from the mother, fear related to love-hate ambivalence and the edipic complex. The research on fear, such as this one, has its origins in the clinical observation of patient suffering, and shall be oriented towards it, where it shall find its deeper justification

Abstract:
The appeal of moral panic studies, a once very popular sociological subfield, dropped precipitously around the turn of the century due in large part to debates about disproportionality, the notion a panicked group's concern about a perceived threat exceeds that warranted by its objective harmfulness. Classic theorists claim disproportionality is a panic's essential criterion and that it can be demonstrated by comparing a group's concerned reaction to the available facts. Critics argue it is a value-laden, ideologically tainted construct and often claim it cannot be demonstrated because there are no authoritative facts. These debates were and still are fraught with confusion. Perplexingly, both sides assume a shared definition despite clearly assessing the proportionality of different aspects of the relevant reaction. A typology differentiating the potential types of disproportionality either does not exist in the moral panic literature or remains shrouded in obscurity. In this paper, I review the classic theories, their critiques, and a new postmodern moral panic theory. By juxtaposing the different foci of the orthodox and contemporary theories, I derive a much-needed disproportionality typology. I also develop a new framework through which to assess moral panics predicated on this typology. My hope is these developments will stimulate a more sophisticated debate about disproportionality and encourage theorists to refine rather than simply reject classic approaches to the disproportionality problem.

Abstract:
Mass panic is an emotional condition of mass, which characterized by a feeling of uncontrollable fear of a certain danger, which spreads in the process of mass "infection" with a loss of self-control. We can consider mechanisms, causes and consequences of mass panic on the example of October 30, 1938. On that day, a radio play based on H. Wells' book "The War of the Worlds", caused a huge panic among the population of the entire state of New Jersey. Millions of people from different cities fled their homes with fear as they believed that the Martian troops had actually landed on Earth and wanted to capture it.

Abstract:

Abstract: This dissertation is a critical reflection on the assimilation of the phenomenon of panic attacks into the nosological categories of modern psychiatry, under the title of Panic Disorder (P.D.). The clear definition of the cluster of symptons, the evidence of modification in these symptons through the use of medication and the discovery of biological elements associated with this clinical picture are factors which favoured the development of its concept as an illness. The main objective of this work is to reinstate the humanistic dimension to the phenomenon of panic so as to contribute to an integrated clinical practice for patients diagnosed as suffering from P.D. The organization of these reflections is focused on clinical experience - a pratice which has been marked by the reference to biological findings. For this reason the dissertation has been set out in the following way: 1. The presentation and discussion of Panic Disorder in its historical and clinical aspects such as they are conceived of in psychiatry as well as the limits of its operational criteria. 2. The use of the term "panic" in other contexts and the relationship between these contexts and Panic .Disorder - the phenomenon of panic is discussed from the viewpoint of the subjects' experience. 3. Discussion of the natural sciences' approach to the phenomenon of panic and the possibilities of an approximation following the procedures of human science. 4. Presentation of some of the contributions of psychoanalysis to the understanding of panic and reflections as to the repercussions in clinical attitude. 5. Using the case history of a patent diagnosed as suffering from Panic Disorder as a reference rthe clinical attitude towards this patient is discussed in relation to the psychodynamic factor s involved. In conclusion, some clinlcal proposals are presented for future investigation which Include the role of the psychiatrist especially with regard to diagnosis pharmacological prescription, follow-up, the role of individual psychotherapy and proposals to work in groups and with family members

Abstract:
The purpose of this degree-project was to investigate the possibilities for primary air preheating into the two smallest waste incineration boilers of Halmstad Energy and Environment. The investigation is a pre-study which has the primary goal to evaluate technical and financial offers from companies that manufacture primary air preheater, and investigate if it is technically and financially profitable to do a purchase on primary air preheaters in the future. In the pre-study it is proposed that it is most efficient to have individual primary air preheater, one for each incineration boiler and the primary air are also proposed to be preheated by hot water in the pre-study. Further in the pre-study it is proposed that the heat-exchanger should have plain tubes instead of finned tubes, to avoid getting dirty fast. The space in the boiler-room is limited, and therefore the major problem was to fit in the primary air preheaters into the boiler-room. By comparing the different offers from the companies, the result in the pre-study shows that the offer from the company C.A. – MÖRCK has the most optimal primary air preheater. The results in the pre-study shows that it is technically possible to install primary air preheaters into the building, but the limited space in the boiler-room forced the distance between the tube-bundles in the primary air preheaters to be very small. Pressure-measurements on the primary air fans show that it is possible to use the existing fans with the purposed primary air preheaters. This assumes that the air-damper is always in the normal operation position. If it is financially profitable to install primary air preheaters is difficult to answer because it is difficult to predict the lifetime on the boilers and what economical profits the primary air preheaters may cause.

Abstract: OBJETIVE: The goal of the present study is to evaluate the sleep disorder found in a sample group of patients with Panic Disorder, according to DSM-IV criteria (8), as well as to describe its main characteristics. SUMMARY: Also, it proposes to determine the relationship among variables (sleep parameters and measures of sleep duration) and degree of severity of the panic disorder. Panic disorder (PD) occurs within 3% of the population. Sleep disorder (SD) may occur to about 70% of patients with PD. Frequently there is difficulty in starting and maintaining sleep (initial and intermediary insomnia). Insomnia can be related to the high co morbidity associated with PD, that is, associated with generalized anxiety disturb, depressive estates or dependence to alcohol. The patient with PD complains of unsatisfactory sleep and presents a greater number of body movements at stage 2. There may also occur sleep panic attacks. There are characterized by sudden awakening with typical manifestations of panic. The patient may not wish to go back to sleep. The attacks may occur with 40% (6) to 69% of PD carriers, what corresponds to 8 to 18 percent of spontaneous panic attacks. And, 4 % of the patients present nocturnal attacks with equal or greater frequency to diurnal attacks. Most of the nocturnal panic attacks take place 2 or 3 hours after start of sleep, at the end of stage or beginning of stage 3. The may also occur at stage 1, at the very start of sleep, and repeat many times during the night period. In the next day there is a vivid memory of the episode, what contributes to the differential diagnose to nocturnal terror. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Period March 2002 at July 2004, PD patients (N: 200), mean age (+/-39), 4F: 1M, 50% married, 66,6% primary school. Evaluated by: Hamilton Scales of Anxiety and Depression, Sheehan Scale of Anxiety, Beck scale of Depression, Inventory Mini-Sleep Questionnaire (MSQ), Basic Nordic Sleep Questionnaire (BNSQ) Questionnaire of Auto Evaluation of Sleep. RESULTS: Scales of Depression and Anxiety, Diurnal fatigue: Beck: 36,42%; H A: 79,43%; Sheehan: 75,87% Insomnia: Beck: 24,28%; H A: 79,43%; Sheehan: 64,47%, H D: 56,54% Fragmented sleep: Beck: 20,71%; H A: 79,43%; Sheehan: 75,87% Scales of Sleep obtained results of analysis, with prevalence for: Insomnia (64,4%), Diurnal fatigue (79,43%), Fragmented sleep (78,87%) CONCLUSION: By analyzing the quality of sleep in carriers of panic disorder, we observe insomnia, diurnal fatigue, fragmented sleep and sudden awakenings occurring with patients with anxiety as a predominant factor. And, 75% presented one or more of the sleep alterations here described. This study has shown a prevalence of sleep disorder in patients with panic. WHO recommends attention to this type of problem, for it affects the quality of life

Abstract:
Brands have for a long time been used to identify and distinguish organizations, companies and products, it can be compared to as the soul of a company. A brand extension is a clear channel for product innovation, which can be a powerful tool to hold a competitive advantage. Product innovations can create differentiation; raise the brands characteristic-values, extend the area of use and block competitors. For 25 years, Panos Emporio has had a leading position in the swimwear industry and in spring of 2011 the company launched their first clothing collection for men and woman, and has recently launched an online store. The company is extending their brand and now that they have a new product category they are facing a challenge, which is underlying in our research question: How can Panos Emporio, a swimsuit brand, expand their brand image and identity to their new clothing line? The purpose of this report is to highlight important factors within brand extension that could be of value to Panos Emporio and other companies facing a brand extension. The report is a qualitative study using an abduction methodology where empirical findings have been studied parallel with the theories and vice versa. We have conducted interviews and observations, and have also collected quantitative data in form of a customer interview, to gain an understanding of the reality. We have chosen to examine and observe the brand Panos Emporio by asking questions regarding the company‟s organization, brand identity and image, as well as customer attitudes. The theoretical framework is underlying in our research study, with the initiation of portraying a brands meaning, importance and structure. Furthermore theories of brand extension with an emphasis on approach strategy and its advantages and disadvantages. The empirical chapter includes, information concerning the company´s brand, collections, costumer and retailers, as well as marketing strategies, which is a part of our data presentation.Out of our theoretical and empirical part we came to the conclusion that Panos Emporio should consider making the consumers more aware of the clothing collection before launching more products within a new product category, since the lack of awareness can throw a shadow over the main product and bring down the brand image which in terms affects the brand equity. Having good knowledge regarding the brands attribute, personality, purpose, identity and the relationship with consumers is more important than whether they should extend the brand or not. Companies need to focus on building their brand equity and image, towards the customers first. Authors believe that companies can take great advantages if a strong brand name and relationship is established at first.

Observational data collected in 1995 during the passage of the Earth by the ring plane of Saturn indicated angular lags in the predicted positions of Prometheus and Pandora. Using additional data these lags were confirmed, with Prometheus being about -19º of their estimated longitude and Pandora about 25º. A possible chaotic relationship due to a 121:118 mean motion resonance between the two satellites is currently accepted to explain those lags (Goldreich & Rappaport 2003b). However, an alternative work analyses the temporal evolution of the satellites semi-major axes and suggests that these lags are the result of non-ideal initial data which corresponds to a particular time and do not represent the behavior of satellites most of the time (Cruz 2004). In this work, we reanalyzed the lags of Prometheus and Pandora through a detailed study of the two aforementioned papers, testing analytically and numerically their main results. The results indicate that the observed lag originate from an initial condition corresponding to the time alignment of anti-periapses orbital of the satellites, once their are related by the 121: 118 mean motion resonance, they generate lags. It is proposed a way to measure the mass of the F-ring, which is still unknown, from the dynamic model developed in this work, resulting in an excessively large mass of the upper limit to be considered. In addition, from a study of the angular momentum conservation, we measure new densities for Prometheus and Pandora as [0:85 - 0:99]g cm-³ and [0:62 - 0:85]g cm-³, respectively

Abstract: Observational data collected in 1995 during the passage of the Earth by the ring plane of Saturn indicated angular lags in the predicted positions of Prometheus and Pandora.

Abstract: This research examined the relationship between Separation Anxiety and Panic Disorder. A group of Case-Control with 68 patients were studied. The case group with 30 patients with Panic Disorder with and without Agoraphobia, previosly diagnosed using DSM-TV criteria were identified and matched by age and sex with a "normaTcontrol group (30). The other control group were consisted of 8 patients with Major Depressive Disorder diagnosed too using DSM-IV criteria. The patients were recrutied from the Psychiatric Ambulatory at Campinas University Hospital. The results showed that 23 (32%) patients of the Case-Control group were diagnosed with Separation Anxiety Disorder of infancy, childhood or adolescence using DSM-IV criteria. Of 22 patients with Separation Anxiety Disorder, 12 (54%) were diagnosed with Panic Disorder with and without Agoraphobia, 5 (23%) with Major Depressive Disorder and 5 (23%) without any psychiatric disorders. According to patients with Panic Disorder report we point out dependent behaviour, looses situations before the panic attack and the feeling of helplessness to illness and life. The results of this study also highlight the continuing need to develop others researches to examine the relationship between Separation Anxiety Disorder and others childhood and adult age disorders

Abstract:
This thesis is based and developed on the ambiguous and open conception, iconic species, which reveals the relationship between human society and non-human species that goes be- yond its biological status. From the case of the giant panda, I attempt to deconstruct the shap- ing process of an iconic species from multiple perspectives, which includes how a specific cultural context, or a specific historical period contributes to the shaping process and how the government and the public diverge or even clash around the shaping process. Then, I introduce my fieldwork where I through observing both giant pandas and red pandas in the exhibition centres called panda bases to analyse the encountering an iconic species in reality and their different influences on public awareness of the wildlife conservation. I also attempt to explore the various representative forms of an iconic species such as the Tibetan antelope ranging from the mascot to the film and follow the changes of its symbolic meanings in different forms. In conclusion, the thesis is aimed to reflect the hybrid features of the iconic species and pro- vide in-depth interpretation of the endless interactions between the human beings and other species.

Abstract:
The layout of a room plays an important role in how effectively it can be evacuated. In particular, the locations and number of exits in a room affect how effective an evacuation is. What also affects the effectiveness of evacuations is panic behaviour and injuries. This project uses crowd simulation to simulate room evacuations involving panic behaviour and injuries, and investigates how that would affect the effectiveness of the evacuations, and also how panic would affect the number of injuries. Using models of three different classrooms at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, with three different exit door configurations in each, simulations were performed of evacuations where one to two simulated participants, called agents, were in a panicked state. The panicked agents would move at twice the regular speed and could push other agents, injuring them. Injured agents became stationary obstacles causing other agents to slow down, simulating effort to carefully step over the injured agents. Results of the simulations indicate that panic and injuries increased the evacuation time in all room layouts and exit door configurations, due to injured agents slowing down other agents. Further research is needed, however, possibly with more realistic simulations of panic, to draw more definite conclusions.

Abstract:
Although functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has gained increasing importance in investigating neural substrates of anxiety disorders, less is known about the stress eliciting properties of the scanner environment itself. The aim of the study was to investigate feasibility, self-reported distress and anxiety management strategies during an fMRI experiment in a comprehensive sample of patients with panic disorder and agoraphobia (PD/AG). Within the national research network PANIC-NET, n = 89 patients and n = 90 controls participated in a multicenter fMRI study. Subjects completed a retrospective questionnaire on self-reported distress, including a habituation profile and exploratory questions about helpful strategies. Drop-out rates and fMRI quality parameters were employed as markers of study feasibility. Different anxiety measures were used to identify patients particularly vulnerable to increased scanner anxiety and impaired data quality. Three (3.5%) patients terminated the session prematurely. While drop-out rates were comparable for patients and controls, data quality was moderately impaired in patients. Distress was significantly elevated in patients compared to controls; claustrophobic anxiety was furthermore associated with pronounced distress and lower fMRI data quality in patients. Patients reported helpful strategies, including motivational factors and cognitive coping strategies. The feasibility of large-scale fMRI studies on PD/AG patients could be proved. Study designs should nevertheless acknowledge that the MRI setting may enhance stress reactions. Future studies are needed to investigate the relationship between self-reported distress and fMRI data in patient groups that are subject to neuroimaging research.
