Abstract:
Composite coatings containing iodine- and bromine-containing compounds as biocides have been obtained on the basis of industrial paintwork materials. A number of composite coatings containing biocides - Nitroxynil, Ioxynil and 2,5-dibrom-4-nitrophenol, have been analyzed using a modified technique for assessing biological activity and toxicity for determining the survival rate of Artemia salina crustaceans. It was found that the compositions on the basis of paintwork materials with Nitroxynil show the greatest bioactivity. AFM study of the surface morphology of the developed coatings showed that the introduction of biocides leads to coating structuring at the nanolevel, with the strength of nanostructured coatings on impact decreases by 2-3 times, however, these values are 2 times higher than those of the reference sample --- an industrial copper-containing antifouling paint. The obtained results can be used for further development of environmentally safe protective and antifouling polymer coatings and paintwork materials. Keywords: protective and antifouling paintwork materials, iodine- and bromine-containing biocides, atomic-force microscopy, morphology of composite coatings, surface roughness, impact strength.

Coatings made of perchlorovinyl enamels have sufficient resistance to atmospheric influences, to the action of water, oil, acids, alkalis and corrosive gases. They are applied to metal and wood. The disadvantages of these materials include their low heat resistance (not higher than 80°C) and poor adhesion to metals. Elimination of the above disadvantages is possible by introducing additives of surfactants of various compositions into the composition of perchlorovinyl paintwork materials.

Ballistic-resistant organoplastics made from layers of aramid fabric, adhesively bonded by a binder film, exhibit an increased tendency to absorb moisture, water and technical fluids in comparison with organoplastics monolithic structures. The absorption of liquids is anisotropic and manifests itself most intensively through the butt ends of the samples. The use of protective paintwork ensures stability of the characteristics of ballistic-resistant materials when exposed to environmental factors (environment, water, fuel, oil, natural climatic conditions).

Abstract:
The article describes the particular qualities of application of a cylindrical steel tanks' and base foundation technical inspection method without removal of a protective covering. The model is formed and the basic parameters of an estimation of economic efficiency of carrying out of diagnostics are determined. The economic efficiency of application of the modern method of vertical steel tank examination is estimated. The high economic efficiency of the new technological method is substantiated in comparison with the traditional method. It is established that the advantage of using the innovative diagnostic method in comparison with the traditional method is fully manifested when it is necessary to maintain a large fleet of tanks. It is calculated that, given the design parameters, the savings in the use of the method proposed by the authors in the long term are 1773.2 million rubles compared with traditional. The use of a new technological method - the technology of diagnosing vertical steel tanks without removing the protective coating, allows to reduce the total cost of conducting diagnostics with a discount of 8.7 times. Dependences were obtained of the discounted volume of expenses on acquisition of the equipment and the subsequent diagnostics of vertical steel tanks on the operation time of the vertical steel tanks.

Аbstract: the article discusses the issues related to the protection of paintwork materials from biological damage. Paint and varnish materials and coatings are exposed to damage caused by various microorganisms during operation, since many components of the materials are used by microbes as power sources. The greatest destruction is caused by bacteria and microscopic fungi. At the moment there are practically no absolutely biostable paints and coatings. Depending on their chemical composition and structure, we can only talk about compositions that are more or less resistant to biological damage. One of the effective ways to protect materials from biological damage is the introduction of various biocidal additives into their composition.

Abstract:
The Korean government has established “minor damage repair standards” that require repair without replacement when vehicle bumpers can be repaired to reduce plastic bumper waste. However, when blind spot detection and lane change assist systems, active safety systems, are installed, there is a controversy over whether the standards can be applied to restore the minor damage bumper covers because the short-range radar sensor for them is located inside each corner of the rear bumper. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the difference between original and repair conditions to confirm the repair methods that can meet the government’s standards while maintaining the safety performance of the systems. The experiments were designed two sectors, most vehicle bumper cover repair methods were produced as test specimens which are used for static tests to compare with the new vehicle state, and based on the results, specimens needed field confirmation were prepared and dynamic tests were conducted. The microscopic performance difference of the safety systems according to the refinishing was determined by analyzing the dynamic test results using null-hypothesis significance testing and analysis of variance methods. The results of the tests showed that applying a filler to form the bumper surface does not cause performance problems if the radar signal transmission area of 10 m2 is avoided. In the case of paintwork on the radar signal area, two or three layers of paint did not show any difference from the manufacturer’s bumper, therefore paint layer scratches can be refinished up to twice. However, if metal-colored paint layers are three as a result of paintwork twice, the maximum detection angle performance is adversely affected. Through this study, new experimental methods were suggested for identifying the safety performance of advanced driver assistance systems when various repair methods are applied to the plastic bumper cover.

This paper discusses the current areas of work to en-sure the performance of protective coatings for machinery and equipment in theagricultural industry complex for the conditions of Siberia. The following five main areas were identified: corrosion protection, thermoregulation, fire re-sistance, antistatics and radiation protection. It was found that the most efficient way to ensure the performance of coatings is their nanomodification. The method of fire re-sistance tests developed at the Novosibirsk State Agricul-tural University is presented. The results of preliminary tests in two areas are presented: fire resistance and corro-sion protection. One of the promising nano-additives is bismuth oxide which may improve fire resistance and phys-ical and mechanical properties. According to the research results, when the concentration of bismuth oxide reaches 5%, an extremum is observed for the values of hardness (86-94) and adhesion (3.3-3.6 MPa) of the coating. At the same time, the addition of bismuth oxide in a concentration of 7.5% made it possible to achieve a significant increase in the fire resistance of the coating. Fire resistance and ignition time increased to 240°C and 65 s, respectively. Some of the most effective additives are identified and the further direction of the study is indicated which consists in optimizing the compositions of protective coatings and providing a set of properties for operating conditions in each specific case. It is also necessary to take into account the combined effect of nanomodifiers on the properties of the protective coating.

The use of standard instruments (colorimeters) when measuring the color coordinates and chromaticity of multicolored objects and having relatively large dimensions is practically impossible. This is due to the fact that ordinary colorimeters, no matter what method is implemented in them, are designed to determine the color of a specific point of the measured object. This article discusses a method for determining the color of a multicolored and relatively large object, for example, a car, color photography, art painting, etc. Let us call this method computer colorimetry. A practical solution to this method can be used in such areas of the national economy, as, for example, repainting a car after damage to certain parts ofthe body with damage to the paintwork, automatic control and video surveillance of forest and peatland areas to detect fires, intheexamination of the authenticity of documents and works of art, and other areas of the national economy.

Abstract:
A puzzling item of hollow painted papier-mch, apparently a replica of a fossil and purportedly made about 1837, was acquired by the then Royal Scottish Museum in 1966 from the Free Church of Scotland College, Edinburgh, presumably from the latters natural sciences teaching collection. It resembles a fossil reptile vertebra or chunk of plant root, but the original specimen and identification remain unknown. The replica does not appear to be a cast from a mould. The inherent limitations and potentials of the technique used, apparently combining three-dimensional modelling and accentuated paintwork, raise the possibility that it was made for Professor John Fleming by his wife Melville Christie as a teaching aid for his lectures at Kings College, Aberdeen, or the Free Church College. The use of papier-mch and paper to make replicas of fossils is briefly discussed.

The paper reflects various aspects of the use of X-ray investigation methods, their advantages and application in forensic science of the phase composition of metals, paint and varnish coatings and paintwork materials, fragments of explosive devices. Practical examples of X-ray diffraction analysis application for thin film specimens made on the basis of paints containing alkyd varnish, pigments, fillers and solvents of various colour range have been examined. Influence of true physical broadening, on lines of diffractograms taken for samples exposed to shock wave action was also studied. It was found that this broadening is directly connected with influence of microstrains and fine dispersion of mosaic structure blocks. Based on the obtained X-ray diffraction analysis data, the dislocation density was calculated by three methods. Based on summarized experimental and literature data, the dependence of microstrains on the explosive weight was plotted, which can be used as a reference standard for comparison in expert studies of samples exposed to shock-wave impact.

Abstract:
In this paper, we have developed conditions for the deposition of zirconium oxide coatings from solutions containing hexafluorozirconic acid as well as tungsten and molybdenum salts on a steel base. Based on electrochemical studies, it was shown that the addition of tungsten and molybdenum salts to the solution to deposit zirconium oxide coatings led to the inhibition of the anodic process of iron ionization. It was shown that the optimal conditions for the deposition of oxide-zirconium coatings on the surface of steel samples from a solution of 0.2 g/L Zr (IV) + 0.15 g/L W (VI) + 0.1 g/L Mo (VI) were a deposition temperature of 30 °C and time of 10 min. The thickness of the oxide-zirconium coatings formed under these conditions was 64.72 nm, the adhesion value was 3.17 MPa/s, and the corrosion resistance was 26 s according to Akimov’s drop method. The depth of corrosive penetration, determined in the salt fog chamber, did not exceed 2 mm after 240 h of testing, meeting the requirements for adhesive layers under the paintwork.

Abstract:
Synthetic surfactants have a wide application in various areas from medicine to agriculture, with biodegradable surfactants holding the greatest promise. Promising compounds for the synthesis of such surfactants are polyethylene oxide and polymers are the poly(α-hydroxyacid)s: polylactide (i.e. PLA), polyglycolide (i.e. PGA), poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL), polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) and their copolymers. Because the biodegradation of polymeric surfactants yields natural metabolites, their medical and biotechnological applications are most attractive. A number of studies shows advantages of branched polymer surfactants compared linear surfactants, however, systematic studies of the correlation between the branched structures of amphiphilic copolymers and their surface activities are absent. Hyperbranched polyester polyol based on 2,2-bis(methylol)propionic acid are widely used as modifiers of polymeric materials (for example, in the manufacture of paintwork materials), additives for polymers to improve extrusion and also as nanocontainers for targeted drug delivery. In the present study the colloidal chemical properties of the polyether polyol 2,2-bis (methylol) propionic acid of the fourth pseudo generation (trade name Boltorn H40) were studied and it was shown that they reduce the interfacial tension at the hydrocarbon solution of surfactant/water to low.

Abstract:
At present, modern ways to protect a varnish coating of cars have become widespread among motorists. Small particles of dirt, dust, winter reagents, minuses of car wash systems, a large number of stones on the road do not have the best effect on car cover. All operational impacts destroy the protective paintwork, after which the steel car body is no longer able to resist the effects of the environment. The body begins to rust and deteriorate. The car eventually loses its appearance, ceases to shine, becomes opaque. Reduction of adverse operational impacts on the paint coating of the car is achieved by modern methods of protection. A wide distribution in the market of automobile cosmetics was produced by protective polishes based on wax or synthetic constituents. It is connected with their small cost and ease of application. The flagship on auto market for the protection of car paint coating is armor plate. This is a protective transparent film with a thickness of approximately 100 microns, providing the maximum degree of protection. Thus, with the help of modern means of protecting paint coating, one can minimize the negative impact of the environment and prolong youth to a car.

Abstract:
Abstract The most common and reliable method of protecting a ship’s hull from corrosion is paint coatings. Paint coatings can be used to paint products of any size. In case of complete or partial destruction, the paintwork can be easily restored by tinting or completely repainting the surface. Paints and varnishes are easily combined with other methods of corrosion protection. The use of paint coatings is more economical in comparison with other types of corrosion protection. Therefore, it is currently the most common method of protecting ship hulls. In order to determine the quality, the experimental studies of various paints and varnishes were carried out. Experimental prototypes were made. The effect of low temperatures and the effect of an impending water flow on paint and coatings were considered. The main conclusions were drawn from the results of the experiments. For long-term protection from the external environment, it is necessary that the coating film should maintain high adhesion to the surface maintain continuous, have minimal water absorption, devoid of pores and be solid. Samples with a two-layer and three-layer coating of Jotun paint have the best adhesion. Satisfactory results were also obtained on samples with a three-layer coating of XC-436 enamel and with a two-layer coating of stone red.

Abstract:
This paper deals with an essential issue of safe methods for temporary metal products protection against corrosion. Nowadays, there are a lot of corrosion inhibitors available; however, most of them are based on chemically hazardous derivatives of amines, nitrites, and chromates contained therein. The listed substances negatively affect both people and the environment. In Arctic weather conditions it is especially important to have reliable and safe anti-corrosion systems that can be applied in marine equipment preservation technologies. It is extremely undesirable to make any repairs and painting works under Arctic conditions, any restoration paintwork of metal items, as well as number of unpainted metal items to be protected must be minimized. The safest preservation methods are aqueous solutions; with such solutions, metal structures to be protected in Arctic conditions either do not need any preparatory preserving agent washing off, or washing off is ultimately simplified. This paper presents wide-spread inhibitors and inhibitors synthesized from safe natural fatty acids of vegetable oils. The article considers their characteristics and applicability. Also, the paper determines environmental hazard classes of aqueous preservation solutions by using biological testing objects. It allows us to assess a hazard level of the applied preservation method, regardless of how substances or combination thereof cause changes in vital functions of the testing objects. Based on the experiments conducted, the article discusses a possibility of using low-hazard preservation methods.

Abstract:
Hydraulic systems used in mechanisms and machines are intended for mechanical movements: load lifting, material pressing, moving of working bodies, etc. Mineral oils with low viscosity are used in them as working fluids. Such liquids include food products (honey, molasses, tar, minced meat, dough, pasta, creams, starches), construction materials (clay, cement, sealant), petroleum products, etc. which are found in chemical and textile, wine and bakery, cosmetic and confectionery, dairy and paintwork, construction industry and many other areas of activity. At the same time, hydraulic systems are used in various sectors of the national economy, which are designed for pumping or transporting a high-viscosity working fluid. However, description of such hydraulic systems, their classification, specific features of the devices of which they consist, has yet received insufficient attention. In this regard, this paper provides a classification of hydraulic systems for pumping and transporting highly viscous liquids, a description of their composition, main types of pumps and devices for controlling and performing technological tasks widely used in various industries. It is shown that all pumps used for these purposes can be divided into two groups: dynamic and volumetric. The paper presents schemes of devices, a brief description and operational principle of pumps used for these purposes. The executed analysis has shown that an operation of hydraulic systems for pumping highly viscous liquids necessitates further study of their characteristics, as well as development of methods for calculation and design.

Abstract:
The former Artistic and Industrial Recreation Pavilion, which was designed by Antonio Palacios (1874–1945) and built for the Galician Regional Exhibition held in 1909 in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, north-western Spain), and which currently houses a nursery school, was completely restored in 2018. The main purpose of the restoration was to recover the original exterior colour of the building. For this purpose, a study was undertaken to identify the original colour of the paintwork by first consulting historical archives and then conducting a micromorphological analysis of stratigraphic paint samples by stereomicroscopic examination and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with electron dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Three reformations of the building are documented: one carried out in 1926, when the metal roof was replaced with a tile roof; another conducted between 1967 (when the old pavilion was described as a "destroyed building") and the mid-1970s (when it began to be used as a nursery); and finally, another in 1981, when the building was repainted. The analytical results revealed layers of white or yellow ochre (vanilla) paint corresponding to different periods. The presence of titanium (Ti) in the paint was used as a marker of its age, as titanium white was first formulated in 1921. The original layers include Zn in their composition, indicating that zinc oxide (ZnO) was the pigment used in the “snow” white paint probably used on the building in its first years of existence. In all cases, the pigment base is lime mixed with silicates, kaolin and other clays.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the features of the preparation and appointment of forensic examination of vehicles, procedural and tactical requirements for this examination. The vehicle is a special object of forensics, which imposes certain restrictions on its preparation for examination. Specific requirements for the tactics of investigative actions with this object are intended to ensure the legality and admissibility of evidence for criminal proceedings. The vehicle is also an object for conducting expert studies of various types. The issue of changing the identification numbers (body, engine), determining the year of manufacture, replacing the data carriers about the car (number and code plates, etc.) are resolved by means of traceability. To solve the issue of replacing the body number by replacing the panel with a number plate, a complex forensic chemical (paintwork research) and trace evidence examination are appointed. The issue of re-equipment of the vehicle is solved by complex trace evidence and commodity expertise, etc. The complexity of the study of the vehicle and the accompanying documents requires the appointment of directly comprehensive examinations of various types. In the investigation of unlawful acts related to the illegal movement of vehicles across the customs border of Ukraine, auto-merchandising and transport- merchandising examinations can also be carried out to solve the problems associated with determining the market value of wheeled vehicles, their components, as well as the amount of the cost of material losses caused to the owner or to the owner of wheeled vehicles, their components due to damage to the latter. The indicated examinations are quite often appointed in conjunction with the trace evidence examination. The fulfillment of certain procedural requirements is designed to ensure the legality and admissibility of evidence obtained in the course of investigative actions and the results of forensic examinations conducted by them.

Abstract:
Introduction. Determination of low concentrations of lead in paint and varnishes is one of the actual problems in ensuring the safety of these products. The requirements set out in the draft Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Union «on the Safety of Paint and Coating Materials» for a standard of 0.009% lead on a dry weight basis stipulate the availability of precision methods for determining lead in paint and varnishes with low detection limits. Materials and methods. Nine different types of paint samples were selected as test objects. The study was carried out by atomic absorption spectrometry with electrothermal atomisation with pre-microwave sample preparation. Paint samples were preliminarily applied on a sheet of sanded FC plywood, dried and taken from the surface with a spatula in the form of fine shavings. The absolutely dry chips were microwaved, centrifuged to separate the undecomposed sludge and analysed. The efficiency of the developed approach was proven by validating the method on 20 model samples of one of the paint types investigated. Results. Validation of the proposed method of lead determination in paints gave satisfactory results in terms of recovery rate and repeatability, so it can be concluded that the method is suitable for the solution of the posed analytical problem. Having analysed the results obtained by measuring lead content in 9 samples of paint products according to the proposed scheme in the described methodology, one can make a confident conclusion about the absence of exceeding the maximum permissible lead content, considering the expected reduction of the standard to 0.009%. Conclusion. The usage of the proposed method will make it possible to successfully control the lead content in paintwork materials at levels that comply with international standards and, in the long term, ensure that the requirements of the Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Union «on the Safety of Paint and Coating Materials» are met in terms of reducing the regulatory indicator to 0.009%.

In order to improve the mechanisms for monitoring the resistance of protective coatings of steel structures during the operation of electrochemical protection systems at berthing facilities, laboratory and bench tests were performed. Samples of three systems of anti-corrosion coatings based on paintwork materials were applied to steel structures that were installed at the port infrastructure facilities of Transneft - Port Kozmino LLC in the variable immersion and spray zone, and in the marine atmosphere zone as well. Groups of samples connected and not connected to electrochemical protection were studied. Based on the results of a two-year monitoring period, data on the effect of protective currents on coating properties were obtained. It is found that the impact strength of coatings exposed to the aggressive influence of sea water increases with time; this is due to additional polymerization and curing processes. The dielectric qualities of water-aged coatings in water deteriorate relative to the initial indicators but remain within the standard values. Thus, it is shown that the use of electrochemical protection has no negative effects on coating adhesion, impact strength or disbondment of the coatings.

Modern forestry machines are operated in various climatic conditions, characterized by sudden temperature changes, high humidity, and dustiness. The impact on the paint coatings of an aggressive environment leads to their destruction and the occurrence of corrosion processes on the surface of the equipment. The purpose of this work was to improve the protective properties of paint coatings by introducing organic corrosion inhibitors into them. For testing, flat samples of sheet steel St.3 were used, 140x70 mm in size, 0.8 – 1.0 mm thick with a clean surface. The studied paintwork consisted of ML-152 enamel with inhibitors introduced into it. The following organic compounds were studied as inhibitors: 6-(paminobenzenesulfamido)- 2,4 dimethoxypyrimidine, p-aminobenzenesulfaguanidine, 2-(p-aminobenzenesulfamido)-thiazole, 2-(p-aminobenzenesulfamido)-4,6 dimethylpyrimidine, benzotriazole . Using visual and electrochemical methods, water extracts from a polymer coating with additives introduced into it, the corrosion resistance of steel samples with applied paint coatings with additives, and the electrical insulating properties of paint coating films were studied. As a result of the work carried out, it was shown that water extracts from a polymer coating based on ML-152 enamel, with additives introduced into it, have a corrosion-inhibiting effect. It has been established that the additives introduced into the ML-152 enamel increase the anodic polarization of the samples and slow down the electrode processes on the metal during the entire exposure time. The studied additives increase the resistance of polymer films up to 1.8 Ohm. The most effective additives that slow down corrosion when they are introduced into ML-152 enamel are 2-(p-aminobenzenesulfamido)-thiazole and 2-(paminobenzenesulfamido)-4,6 dimethylpyrimidine.
