Abstract:
PageRank algorithms only consider hyperlink information, without other page information such as page hits frequency, page update time and web page category. Therefore, the algorithms rank a lot of advertising pages and old pages pretty high and can’t meet the users' needs. This paper further studies the page meta-information such as category, page hits frequency and page update time. The Web page with high hits frequency and with smaller age should get a high rank, while the above two factors are more or less dependent on page category. Experimental results show that the algorithm has good results.

Abstract:
There are several Search Engines to categorize the web content and show us on base of our search query. These search engines are continuously visiting the pages/sites and gather the information using different techniques called crawling/spidering. On basis of daily content collection all search engines are managing their own indexes for searches. For every business there is a need to make its pages as most top rated/ranked pages by making structurally and content wise batter so that any crawler can easily crawl it and can rank it among the top 10 results. In this thesis only, structural behavior is being discussed in which internal graphical relationships between pages and the loading time of pages in terms of all supportive content .Structural overview includes the HTML tags structure which works as tree flow starting from tag and then moving towards child nodes.Page speed identifies the loading time of a page, it helps search engine to categories pages for mobile devices as well.Sometimes there is a thunder option on mobile search with rank it represents that this page is super-fast in loading. Page loading includes the loading of all content except Ajax base content.According to Google Page, rank is based on page content, page structure and page loading time.As discussion is only Page structure and page loading time so Google already gave some instructions related to Page structure and page loading speed but those instructions are not enough also it need to discover the new dimensions to make business pages among the top-rated results.

Abstract:
The internet is frequently surfed by people by using smartphones, laptops, or computers in order to search information online in the web. The increase of information in the web has made the web pages grow day by day. The automatic topic-based web page classification is used to manage the excessive amount of web pages by classifying them to different categories based on the web page content. Different machine learning algorithms have been employed as web page classifiers to categorise the web pages. However, there is lack of study that review classification of web pages using deep learning. In this study, the automatic topic-based classification of web pages utilising deep learning that has been proposed by many key researchers are reviewed. The relevant research papers are selected from reputable research databases. The review process looked at the dataset, features, algorithm, pre-processing used in classification of web pages, document representation technique and performance of the web page classification model. The document representation technique used to represent the web page features is an important aspect in the classification of web pages as it affects the performance of the web page classification model. The integral web page feature is the textual content. Based on the review, it was found that the image based web page classification showed higher performance compared to the text based web page classification. Due to lack of matrix representation that can effectively handle long web page text content, a new document representation technique which is word cloud image can be used to visualize the words that have been extracted from the text content web page.

Abstract:
In converting task listings into multiple pages of documentation for job aids or training, the two major problems are deciding how much material should go on each page and how text and graphics should be laid out on the page. A questionnaire study was used to collect input from 14 human factors personnel in order to design algorithms for page splitting and page layout. From the rules or heuristics used for page splitting, an algorithm was devised that closely matched human page-splitting results. Layout of individual pages was automated with an algorithm based on the (significant) consensus among the subjects on questions of graphics positioning and label ordering. The two algorithms have been combined in a computer-aided design procedure that automatically pages task lists and lays out individual pages.

When a page fault occurs, the operating system has to choose a page to remove from memory to make room for the page that has to be brought in. The page replacement is done by swapping the required pages from backup storage to main memory and vice-versa. When a new page needs memory for allocation, page replacement algorithms decide which pages to swap out of the memory. In this paper, a comparison and analysis of five replacement algorithms: First in First out (FIFO), Least Recently Used (LRU), Clock, Most Recently Used algorithm (MRU), and Optimal Page Replacement (OPT) are made.

An improved Web community discovery algorithm is proposed in this paper based on the attraction between Web pages to effectively reduce the complexity of Web community discovery. The proposed algorithm treats each Web page in the Web pages collection as an individual with attraction based on the theory of universal gravitation, elaborates the discovery and evolution process of Web community from a Web page in the Web pages collection, defines the priority rules of Web community size and Web page similarity, and gives the calculation formula of the change in Web page similarity. Finally, an experimental platform is built to analyze the specific discovery process of the Web community in detail, and the changes in cumulative distribution of Web page similarity are discussed. The results show that the change in the similarity of a new page satisfies the power-law distribution, and the similarity of a new page is proportional to the size of Web community that the new page chooses to join.

Abstract:
Advances in DRAM density have led to several proposals to perform computation in memory [1] [2] [3]. Active Pages is a page-based model of intelligent memory that can exploit large amounts of parallel computation in data-intensive applications. With a simple VLIW processor embedded near each page on DRAM, Active Page memory systems achieve up to 1000X speedups over conventional memory systems [4]. Active Pages are specifically designed to support virtualized hardware resources. In this study, we examine operating system techniques that allow Active Page memories to share, or multiplex, embedded VLIW processors across multiple physical Active Pages. We explore the trade-off between individual page-processor performance and page-level multiplexing. We find that hardware costs of computational logic can be reduced from 31% of DRAM chip area to 12%, through multiplexing, without significant loss in performance. Furthermore, manufacturing defects that disable up to 50% of the page processors can be tolerated through efficient resource allocation and associative multiplexing.

Game and Online Video Streaming are the most viewed web pages. Users who spend too much time on these types of web pages may suffer from internet addiction. Access to Game and Online Video Streaming web pages should be restricted to combat internet addiction. A tool is required to recognise the category of web pages based on the text content of the web pages. Due to the unavailability of a matrix representation that can handle long web page text content, this study employs a document representation known as word cloud image to visualise the words extracted from the text content web page after data pre-processing. The most popular words are shown in large size and appear in the centre of the word cloud image. The most common words are the words that appear frequently in the text content web page and are related to describing what the web page content is about. The Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) recognises the pattern of words presented in the core portions of the word cloud image to categorise the category to which the web page belongs. The proposed model for web page classification has been compared with the other web page classification models. It shows the good result that achieved an accuracy of 85.6%. It can be used as a tool that helps to make identifying the category of web pages more accurate

Abstract:
This research concerns the design and development of an assistive system based on eye tracking, which can be used to improve the quality of life of disabled patients. With the use of their eye movement, whose function is not affected by their illness, patients are capable of communicating with and sending notifications to caretakers, controlling various appliances, including wheelchairs. The designed system is divided into two subsystems: stationary and mobile assistive systems. Both systems provide a graphic user interface (GUI) that is used to link the eye tracker with the appliance control. There are six GUI pages for the stationary assistive system and seven for the mobile assistive system. GUI pages for the stationary assistive system include the home page, smart appliance page, eye-controlled television page, eye-controlled air conditional page, i-speak page and entertainment page. GUI pages for the mobile assistive system are similar to the GUI pages for the stationary assistive system, with the additional eye-controlled wheelchair page. To provide hand-free secure access, an authentication based on facial landmarks is developed. The operational test of the proposed assistive system provides successful and promising results.

Abstract:
Using page rank and semantic information are frequently used techniques in next page prediction systems. In our work, we extend the use of Page Rank algorithm for next page prediction with several navigational attributes, which are size of the page, duration of the page visit and duration of transition (two page visits sequentially), frequency of page and transition. In our model, we define popularity of transitions and pages by using duration information, use it in a relation with page size, and visit frequency factors. By using the popularity value of pages, we bias conventional Page Rank algorithm and model a next page prediction system that produces page recommendations under given top-n value. Moreover, we extract semantic terms from web URLs in order to tag pages semantically. The extracted terms are mapped into web URLs with different level of details in order to find semantically similar pages for next page recommendations. With this tagging, we model another next page prediction method, which uses Semantic Tagging (ST) similarity and exploits PPR values as a supportive method. Moreover, we model a Hybrid Page Rank (HPR) algorithm that uses both Semantic Tagging based approach and Popularity Based Page Rank values of pages together in order to investigate the effect of PPR and ST with equal weights. In addition, we investigate the effect of local (a synopsis of directed web graph) and global (whole directed web graph) modeling on next page prediction accuracy.

Abstract : Web page ranking algorithms can be created using content-based, structure-based or user search-based techniques. This research addresses an user search-based approach applied over previously filtered documents ranking, which relies in a segmentation process to extract irrelevante content from documents before ranking. The process splits the document into three categories of blocks in order to fragment the document and eliminate irrelevante content. The ranking method, called Page Filtered Ranking, has two main steps: (i) irrelevante content extraction; and (ii) document ranking. The focus of the extraction step is to eliminate irrelevante content from the document, by means of the Query-Based Blocks Mining algorithm, creating a tree that is evaluated in the ranking process. During the ranking step, the focus is to calculate the relevance of each document for a given query, using criteria that give importance to specific parts of the document and to the highlighted features of some HTML elements. Our proposal is compared to two baselines: the classic vectorial model, and the CETR noise removal algorithm, and the results demonstrate that our irrelevante content removal algorithm improves the results and our relevance criteria are relevant to the process.

Abstract:
Web pages are becoming more complex than ever, as they are generated by Content Management Systems (CMS). Thus, analyzing them, i.e. automatically identifying and classifying different elements from Web pages, such as main content, menus, among others, becomes difficult. A solution to this issue is provided by Web page segmentation which refers to the process of dividing a Web page into visually and semantically coherent segments called blocks. The quality of a Web page segmenter is measured by its correctness and its genericity, i.e. the variety of Web page types it is able to segment. Our research focuses on enhancing this quality and measuring it in a fair and accurate way. We first propose a conceptual model for segmentation, as well as Block-o-Matic (BoM), our Web page segmenter. We propose an evaluation model that takes the content as well as the geometry of blocks into account in order to measure the correctness of a segmentation algorithm according to a predefined ground truth. The quality of four state of the art algorithms is experimentally tested on four types of pages. Our evaluation framework allows testing any segmenter, i.e. measuring their quality. The results show that BoM presents the best performance among the four segmentation algorithms tested, and also that the performance of segmenters depends on the type of page to segment. We present two applications of BoM. Pagelyzer uses BoM for comparing two Web pages versions and decides if they are similar or not. It is the main contribution of our team to the European project Scape (FP7-IP). We also developed a migration tool of Web pages from HTML4 format to HTML5 format in the context of Web archives

Abstract:
Computer systems play an increasingly crucial and ubiquitous role in human endeavour by carrying out or facilitating tasks and providing information and services. How much work these systems can accomplish, within a certain amount of time, using a certain amount of resources, characterises the systems’ performance, which is a major concern when the systems are planned, designed, implemented, deployed, and evolve. As one of the most popular computer systems, the Web is inevitably scrutinised in terms of performance analysis that deals with its speed, capacity, resource utilisation, and availability. Performance analyses for the Web are normally done from the perspective of the Web servers and the underlying network (the Internet). This research, on the other hand, approaches Web performance analysis from the perspective of Web pages. The performance metric of interest here is response time. Response time is studied as an attribute of Web pages, instead of being considered purely a result of network and server conditions. A framework that consists of measurement, modelling, and monitoring (3Ms) of Web pages that revolves around response time is adopted to support the performance analysis activity. The measurement module enables Web page response time to be measured and is used to support the modelling module, which in turn provides references for the monitoring module. The monitoring module estimates response time. The three modules are used in the software development lifecycle to ensure that developed Web pages deliver at worst satisfactory response time (within a maximum acceptable time), or preferably much better response time, thereby maximising the efficiency of the pages. The framework proposes a systematic way to understand response time as it is related to specific characteristics of Web pages and explains how individual Web page response time can be examined and improved.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the production of the Middle English poetic manuscript. It analyses the mise-en-page of manuscripts created during a crucial period for book production, immediately after 1400, when there was a sudden explosion in the production of vernacular manuscripts of literary texts, when the demand for books increased, and the commercial book trade swiftly followed. It offers a close analysis of the mise-en-page of the manuscripts of three central authors: Chaucer’s, Gower’s, and Hoccleve’s manuscripts were at the heart of this sudden flourishing and were, crucially, produced when scribal methods for creating the literary page were still unformed. Previous studies have focused on the localised readings produced by single scribes, manuscripts, or authors, offering a limited examination of broader trends. This study offers a wider comparison: where individual studies offer localised analysis, the multi-textuality of this thesis offers broader perceptions of book production and of scribal responses to the new literary texts being produced. In analysing the layout of seventy-six manuscripts, including borders, initials, paraphs, rubrics, running titles, speaker markers, glosses and notes, this thesis argues that scribes were deeply concerned with creating a manuscript page specifically to showcase texts of poetry. The introduction outlines current scholarship on mise-en-page and defines the scribe as one who offers an individual response to the text on the page within the context of the inherited, commercial, and practical practices of layout. The three analytical chapters address the placement of the features of mise-en-page in each of the seventy-six manuscripts, each chapter offering three contrasting manuscript situations. Chapter 1 analyses the manuscripts of Chaucer, who left no plan for the look of his page, causing scribes to make decisions on layout that illuminate fifteenth-century scribal responses to literature. These are then compared to the manuscripts of Gower in Chapter 2, directly or indirectly supervised by the poet, which display rigorous uniformity in their layout. This chapter argues that scribes responded in much the same way, despite the strict control over meaning. Chapter 3 focuses on Hoccleve’s autograph manuscripts which are unique in demonstrating authorial control over layout. This chapter compares the autograph to the non-autograph manuscripts to argue that scribal responses differed from authorial intentions. Each of the three chapters analyses the development of mise-en-page specifically for literary texts. Focussing on the mise-en-page, this thesis is able to compare across a range of texts, manuscripts, scribes, and authors to mount a substantial challenge to current perceptions that poetic manuscripts were laid out in order to assist readers’ understanding of the meaning of the texts they contain. Instead, it argues that though there was a concern with representing the nuances of poetic meaning, often scribal responses to poetry were bound up with presenting poetic form.

Abstract:
Guide page design is an important part in APP design. A good guide page can attract users' interest and attention in a short time and effectively transmit information. Therefore, attractiveness is a key factor in evaluating design of APP guide pages. In the actual design activities, most of the interface elements in guide pages are arranged in the form of high balance. In order to explore the relationship between attractiveness of APP guide pages and this arrangement, this study collected samples of 40 guide page design and the corresponding user access data from zcool.com (a well-known Chinese design social website). Interface aesthetic evaluation method is applied to calculate the value of the three indicators (balance, equilibrium and symmetry) associated with visual balance, SPSS analysis results show that visual balance has an important potential impact on improving the attractiveness of APP guide page.

Abstract:
In e-commerce, product pages are important to the success of a website [4]. The ultimate goal of an e-commerce site is sales and it takes a great product page to achieve that. However, today, e-commerce entrepreneurs are confused about how to make their product page more attractive [5]. This paper designs a data-driven analytical system to analyze the relationship between different web page features with sales, in order to give users feedback on how to improve their product web pages [6].

Abstract:
Aligning Learning Outcomes (LO) to relevant portions of Learning Resources (LR) is necessary to help students quickly navigate within the recommended learning material. In general, the problem can be viewed as finding the relevant sections of a document (LR) that is pertinent to a broad question (LO). In this paper, we introduce the novel problem of aligning LOs (LO is usually a sentence long text) to relevant pages of LRs (LRs are in the form of slide decks). We observe that the set of relevant pages can be composed of multiple chunks (a chunk is a contiguous set of pages) and the same page of an LR might be relevant to multiple LOs. To this end, we develop a novel Lexico-Semantic Spatial approach that captures the lexical, semantic, and spatial aspects of the task, and also alleviates the limited availability of training data. Our approach first identifies the relevancy of a page to an LO by using lexical and semantic features from each page independently. The spatial model at a later stage exploits the dependencies between the sequence of pages in the LR to further improve the alignment task. We empirically establish the importance of the lexical, semantic, and spatial models within the proposed approach. We show that, on average, a student can navigate to a relevant page from the first predicted page by about four clicks within a 38 page slide deck, as compared to two clicks by human experts.

Abstract:
Legal documents often have a complex layout with many different headings, headers and footers, side notes, etc. For the further processing, it is important to extract these individual components correctly from a legally binding document, for example a signed PDF. A common approach to do so is to classify each (text) region of a page using its geometric and textual features. This approach works well, when the training and test data have a similar structure and when the documents of a collection to be analyzed have a rather uniform layout. We show that the use of global page properties can improve the accuracy of text element classification: we first classify each page into one of three layout types. After that, we can train a classifier for each of the three page types and thereby improve the accuracy on a manually annotated collection of 70 legal documents consisting of 20,938 text elements. When we split by page type, we achieve an improvement from 0.95 to 0.98 for single-column pages with left marginalia and from 0.95 to 0.96 for double-column pages. We developed our own feature-based method for page layout detection, which we benchmark against a standard implementation of a CNN image classifier.

Weverka, Robert T., and Kevin Wagner. "Rapid-access page-mode volume holograms." In OSA Annual Meeting. Washington, D.C.: Optica Publishing Group, 1992. http://dx.doi.org/10.1364/oam.1992.wt4.

Full text
Abstract:
Access speeds in optical storage media are limited by the optical power budget. By using acousto-optics, sequential read out of angularly multiplexed volume holograms can be achieved with page times as short as 1 ns. With 106 pixels per page, the data rate of such a system is 1015 samples per second. This exceeds the input bandwidth of all signal processing technologies except optical signal processing. Additionally, given the efficiency of angularly multiplexed holograms, the optical power required to reliably detect data at this bandwidth is excessive. The optical power budget constraints can be alleviated if the system that follows the rapid-access page-mode hologram has signal processing gain. We explore the use of optical correlators with a relatively slow external data input and matched filters stored in the volume hologram. The matched filters are accessed extremely rapidly by utilizing acousto-optic Bragg cells to cycle through the angularly multiplexed volume hologram pages. The correlators provide the signal processing gain to alleviate the signal to noise constraints on a system with up to 1015 reference samples per second data rate.

Full text
Abstract:
The paper deals with the question, how the efficiency and successfulness of web pages in information dissemination can be measured. The paper concentrates on the use of a corporate web page in public relations with different interest groups. Basic principles of public relations theory are summarized. The importance of web-page credibility is emphasized and different factors that can have influence on it are identified. Obviously, reliability, punctuality and quality of published information are of utmost importance. However other factors that can affect credibility (such as technical quality, page structure etc.), are also studied. Special attention is paid to another important topic in public relations theory - how can a web page be used to build and flourish dialogue relationships between the company and different interest groups that affect company’s performance. The newly developed model CUT (Content, Usability, Technology) for evaluation of web pages is presented. The model includes evaluation of web pages from different perspectives. While accurate, complete and up-to-date information is certainly crucial, other factors from usability and technology perspective are also emphasized. The model use is demonstrated on a case study of companies from different countries and industry branches.
