Abstract:
The rapid updates of the resources and media in the big data age provide new opportunities for oversea Chinese education. It is an urgent task to effectively use the big data to boost the development of oversea Chinese education. However, very few studies are conducted in this area. Map-Reduce is a programming model of cloud computing used for the parallel computing of the large-scale data sets and this model enables programmers to run their own programs in the distributed system. In this paper we proposed a personalized overseas Chinese education model based on Map-Reduce mechanism , which can analyze the behavioral habits and personal preferences of users from a large pool of Chinese educational resources. In this way, the customer needs can be accurately grasped and their favorite resources are recommended from huge amounts of resources. The proposed model has a good application prospect for overseas Chinese education .

Abstract:
China’s oil resource consumption is in the forefront of the world, but the per capita storage capacity of the oil resources is inadequate. With the improvement of the strategic position of the oil resources and the progress in exploitation technology, China has implemented the “go out” strategy, and is continuously seeking cooperative exploitation overseas. However, considered the great cultural difference between China and foreign countries, the oversea cooperation has many obstacles. The recent oil spilling incident of Penglai 19-3 was a minor accident, but finally it has become a major one. So the cultural gap between China and foreign countries really exists, and even more, it is very important. This paper is based on the Penglai19-3 accident and is trying to discuss how to reduce the cultural gap between two countries, so that the oversea cooperation can develop successfully.

Abstract:
This paper uses the relevant data of China’s listed companies from 2010 to 2018 to test the impact of overseas investment on corporate environmental protection and further examines whether the heterogeneity of the company and the heterogeneity of the host country changes this effect. The research results show that the environmental protection of overseas investment companies is significantly higher than that of other companies. The impact of overseas investment on corporate environmental protection is dynamic, and it only helps improve corporate environmental protection after three years of investment. This article is conducive to causally identifying the logical relationship between overseas investment and corporate environmental protection. The policy significance is that the government can rationally guide companies to invest abroad, and oversea investment will help enhance corporate environmental protection.

Abstract:
Abstract The contribution of overseas Chinese to their ancestral homeland in China is an important topic for research. This article uses the concept of diaspora philanthropy to analyze the patterns and mechanisms of philanthropic giving by overseas Chinese to their ancestral hometowns or villages, also known as qiaoxiang. Based on an ethnographic study in Shunde, Guangdong Province, this article argues that Chinese diaspora philanthropy is not just based on a tradition based on the donors’ affinity, emotional ties, and personal relations to their hometowns, but is involved in the historical process organized and strategically orchestrated by multiple actors, including individuals, organizations, and the state. In this process, the associations of overseas Chinese and local governments in China, especial through the cooperation between local “qiao cadres” and leaders of oversea Chinese communities, play important roles in promoting philanthropy and bringing about desirable outcomes. The intersection of push and pull mechanisms in stimulating donor giving constitutes the basic dynamics of contemporary Chinese diaspora philanthropy. This is the reason why philanthropic giving from overseas Chinese continues to rise even as qiaoxiang have been already well developed.

The megatrends and Industry 4.0 in ICT (Information Communication & Technology) are concentrated in IoT (Internet of Things), BigData, CPS (Cyber Physical System), and AI (Artificial Intelligence). These megatrends do not operate independently, and mass storage technology is essential as large computing technology is needed in the background to support them. In order to evaluate the performance of high-capacity storage based on open source Ceph, we carry out the network performance test of Abyss storage with domestic and overseas sites using KOREN (Korea Advanced Research Network). And storage media and network bonding are tested to evaluate the performance of the storage itself. Additionally, the security test is demonstrated by Cuckoo sandbox and Yara malware detection among Abyss storage cluster and oversea sites. Lastly, we have proposed the draft design of Data Lake framework in order to solve garbage dump problem.

Abstract:
Domestic trade costs are anecdotally high in the Philippines, and yet a systematic and spatially comparable metric of trade costs is unavailable. This paper fills this gap by estimating province border effects, or a province’s tendency to trade with itself rather than with other provinces. Subsequently, the effects of a maritime transport program based on roll-on roll-off (RORO) ships on province border effects are assessed. Using two novel datasets—the starting dates of RORO shipping services by route, and the intraprovince trade of agricultural products—this study finds that province border effects are substantial, with a typical province trading 51 times more with itself than with other provinces. The RORO transport program is associated with an average reduction of 35% of this home province bias. However, the border effect reductions are unevenly distributed, with the largest reductions concentrated in provinces near the biggest demand centers.

Abstract:
Economic potential measures generalised accessibility but the use of this model depends on the extent to which the different regions within the defined area do in fact trade with all areas in the system. From inland freight data for 1982 and 1983, and oversea trade figures for 1978, some aspects of the actual behaviour of regional trade flows are explored in this paper. At the standard region level, the “peripheral” regions are relatively self-sufficient and also engage in oversea trade to a comparatively large extent. However, whereas the “peripheral” regions draw a large proportion of their imports from deep-sea locations, their exports are biassed toward the near Continent. From the evidence it can be seen that the economic potential model is substantially inadequate, in that the firms in the regions do in fact adapt in some measure to regional circumstances.

AbstractTick-borne diseases are highly prevalent in domestic and wild ruminants and they may be distributed in wide geographical ranges by animal transportation. The aim of the current study was to investigate the presence of European strains of Babesia spp. and/or Anaplasma spp. in oversea imported reindeer specimens. Imported specimens (n=7) were hospitalized with visible tick infestation (Ixodes ricinus) and signs of cachexia, anemia, and hemoglobinuria. Using blood smears, PCR, and BLAST comparisons, it was confirmed that the animals were infected with a French strain of Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Babesia divergens which is considered to be absent in the USA. We conclude that oversea importation of reindeers must be followed with a routine check for geographically-specific strains of pathogens from the place of origin. This monitoring process must be dynamic and according to recent reports of tick-borne pathogens.

Lin, Yi-Hsuan, and Yu-Ching Tseng. "Learning English in Tourism and Hospitality Internships Overseas: Reflections from Six Taiwanese College Students." International Journal of English Linguistics 10, no. 5 (June 2, 2020): 1. http://dx.doi.org/10.5539/ijel.v10n5p1.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine the overseas internship experiences and determine whether they helped to enhance the intended English learning outcomes for students who will be working in the service industry. Seventeen entries of reflective journals written by six students who interned overseas were analyzed. The participants reported their frustrations in language learning and described how these experiences could complement their overall career development in the future. The students identified a gap between everyday language needs in the industry and their language training received in Taiwan. The results indicated that the participants thought the English courses in Taiwan have disproportionately emphasized reading or writing skills, whereas speaking and listening were in high demand in the workplace, particularly given the difficulties occurring in cross-cultural communication. The analysis also indicated that the participants’ oversea working experiences positively affected their English learning motivation. These experiences also helped the participants notice differences in interactions with people from various linguistic backgrounds. English learning in Taiwan is traditionally embedded in English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms that are reading/writing-centered and examination-oriented. The course content should be revised to improve students’ oral communication skills for the workplace.

Hence, it is extremely crucial for oversea students to understand some fundamental knowledge about the relationship between language influence and cultural value in their intercultural adaptation and communication. Only in this way, the oversea students will be adapted to a new society and a new culture, and show their own academic abilities on some competitive occasions including applying for their graduates or post-graduates in colleges and universities. Therefore, the author will take his son’s application for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)’s a post-graduate as a case, comparatively analyzes and discusses that the concept of cultural values directly affects applicant, especially owing to the relative function between language modification and cultural impact, and finally focuses on the intercultural adaptation’s influence on application, so as to success in his or her study career in a new culture.
