Abstract:
Environmental liability rules are crucial in a country such as South Africa. The issue of liability pertaining to pollution of or harm to the environment is a critical area in our law as environmental liability is not adequately addressed in terms of South African law.1 Liability law is thus directed towards the objectives of damage prevention and the distribution of loss in accordance with considerations of social justice. Liability law is necessary in order to prevent environmental pollution or degradation. An example of pollution to the environment is when goods are transported and a traffic accident occurs, which results in the spillage of harmful substances. Harmful substances may for instance be easily transmitted to surface water or underground water. These substances may have adverse effects on human health and the environment.

Mainland China students have been allowed to study in Taiwan since 2011. Most research in the past had only focused on the implementation of the Taiwan education policy and evaluation, while little attention was given to how these students adapt to the difference between Taiwan and Mainland. Considering the special history between Taiwan-Mainland from 1949, this study examines how migratory experience impacts the configuration and transformation of national identities. In particular, we explore how these students negotiate their ambiguous subject positions in discourses that are interwoven between ROC and PRC, Taiwan as imagined and reality, homeland and foreign country. There are three parts in our study: the first study uses the Chinese In-Group Trend Scale to survey students in Taiwan, Mainland Chinese students who came to Taiwan for higher education, and Chinese students. It was found that Mainland Chinese students have significantly reduced Chinese in-group trend compared with Chinese students who had no migratory experience. Based on the in–depth interview with Mainland Chinese and textual analysis of books written by these students, study two found that the students who are in the process of integration into Taiwan society had encountered two different types of emotional conflicts between “Chinese overseas” and “Oversea Chinese”. Using an experiment designed with three scenario contexts, “political China”, “economic China”, and “cultural China” contexts, study three found that Mainland Chinese students preferred using the instrumental strategy in equity rule on political and economic contexts, while they are more prone to use expressive strategy in need rule on cultural context. These results showed that although there are different identities (Chinese/Oversea Chinese/ Chinese overseas) in different perspectives, Mainland Chinese students prefer to be oversea Chinese regarding Taiwan as member of Chinese, rather than Chinese overseas.

Oversea expedition adventure means living in the wilderness environment for a long time, and engaging in extremely difficult outdoor adventure activities, which is full of challenging and unknown journey. This study aims to understand the effect that oversea expedition adventure brings to adventurers’ lives and the situation of adapting the original lives after oversea expedition adventurers undergoing great physical and psychological challenges. However, only few people have had a chance to engage in oversea expedition adventure, so qualitative research was taken for this study; taking four adventurers who had involved in oversea expedition adventure as research objects, and then to discuss their reentry behavior through semi-structured and in-depth interview. The study finds that when the oversea expedition adventurers return to the original living environment, they often find themselves in “yearning of adventure experience” and “missing teammates” situations. In some cases, they might even feel depressed and mind goes blank. In addition, adventurers need time to adjust not only physiological condition but also psychological. Therefore, adventurers have different understanding of the value of life, and become more modest and contented by realizing the force of nature. Moreover, oversea expedition adventurers regard oversea expedition adventure as the core of life as well as the goal to pursue for the rest of their lives.

The development of Information and Communication Technology(ICT)has changed the ways of education and teaching methods. ICT equipment is the foundation of carrying out the policy of information technology integration into instruction. In 2009, in respond to the Project of “Revitalizing Economy and Expending Public Construction Investment”, Ministry of Education budgets a great amount of budget for establishing ICT equipment in secondary schools and primary schools year by year. Besides public schools in Taiwan, the trend also expands to overseas Taiwanese Schools. In this situation, information technology integration into instruction would lead to increase in power consumption. It would be critical and essential to know how to use ICT equipment efficiently into instruction under the principle of energy saving and carbon reduction. For the reason of observing the power consumption of ICT equipment in oversea Taiwanese schools in current situation. This research adopted the method of practical investigation that focus on one oversea Taiwanese school and measured how much power that ICT equipment actually consume on campus. The ICT equipment usage frequency survey is used to conduct case investigation for all teachers in the school. The questionnaire examines the relevance between the teachers’ backgrounds and the frequency of using ICT equipment. Based on the connection of ICT teaching equipment usage to power consumption, it speculates the total power consumption of ICT equipment on campus is 12,160kWh and EUI value of 1.1kWh/m2.yr,which only accounted for 2.16% of total school energy consumption. This research could be used to advise the object school of energy-saving preference in the long term. This research is also expected to make the better assessment for the object school in carbon dioxide reduction and development of Information technology integration into instruction.

Oversea manufacture is a critical factor for Taiwan clothing manufacture to resolve pressures of competition and maintain competitive advantage. No matter what backgrounds the enterprises are from, all desire to seek for the best investment location to enhance their competitive advantage. The most urgent matter for the clothing manufacture is to consolidate resources and to overcome challenges arising from the organizations in the rapid changes of time. By doing so, the enterprises can construct a competitive foresight and achieve the goal of globalization. This research focuses on four backgrounds of middle size clothing manufacturing companies. The research is based on case studying of trade and experiences of outsourcing, adopting comparisons of various cases through observation, interview, and questionnaire survey. The research explores how oversea clothing manufacturing organizations deal with challenges in a complex environment, surrounded by different cultures, and how the enterprises establish values and efficient organizations by dealing with challenges. The case study and strategy analysis are supported by the discussions of missions of organizations, decision-making power, local culture and society, turn-over rate, and marketing strategies. Through the comparisons of multi-cases in various backgrounds of Taiwan clothing merchants, the research finds that the types of challenges that the enterprises face and the degree of the impact that the enterprises receive are no different. The critical factor to overcome challenges is consensus, including between high level management and dispatching mangers, between the head office and the local organizations, between dispatching managers and local employees. The consensus deeply impacts the management of organizations. There is a positive affection between consensus and management. The research further finds that in respect of missions of organizations and decision-making power, the priority for the organization is to complete missions. The authorization cannot focus on the dispatching managers; the enterprises must also authorize local secondary management. In terms of accommodation of local culture and social society, the enterprises must respect the local culture and their systems. To avoid industrial actions, high turn-over rate, and outsourcing faults, it relies on transparent operations. To maintain relationship with the local government so to execute marketing strategies soundly, the enterprises must comply with local regulations. Overall, more specific authorization and fair distributions of profits are, more growing organization could be. The research and the conclusions offer a reference for Taiwan enterprise when they face challenges in the developing oversea manufacturing organizations. The research also intends to provide a new direction and a guild for the study of organization challenges of oversea clothing manufacture.

Malpractice of foreign investments has attracted much attention recently. According to the foreign literature, Brada et al(2012) studied FDI of the East European transition economies shows that in addition to the traditional motives, non-traditional factors such as money laundering and illegal capital flight are also important factors to encourage FDI. The study also reveals that 29% of total FDI flows to offshore tax havens and that 20% of the motive is to assist illegal capital flows. One of the major domestic fraud cases used 1. setting up overseas offshore companies, 2. making up certificates of deposits abroad, and 3. encroaching sold assets…etc.. This research shows that using the methods just mentioned would most likely to result in hollowed assets, tax avoidance, false trading and false financial statements…etc. fraud risks. The domestic fraud case could be the example to prove that the use of the malpractice of FDI is now existing in Taiwan.

With the development of tourism in Taiwan, there has been a great change in traveling. The popularity of independent overseas traveler increases gradually in the recent years. We can also find that there are multiple ways and purposes of the independent traveler from the media. Travelers choose traveling types and activities they like to fulfill their own motivation. They hope to get a satisfying experience from those activities. This study aims to probe into independent traveler’s motivation and their experience from the perspective of both society and individual. To experience is the most important part in traveling, this may change the idea or behavior of the independent traveler, and even decisions of the later traveling. Unfortunately, previous studies focus less on the experience of traveling. In view of this, this study takes a quantitative approach, interviewed 13 independent travelers through instant messaging. The result shows that the family control over independent travelers doesn’t mean much anymore; the motivation and traveling behavior of male and female travelers are not significantly different; the axis of experiencing the local life is revealed throughout the trip, and this is not able to be substituted by any well-formed media. In addition, the journey provides travelers plenty of room to keep themselves. Independent traveling enhances the identity and gives substantial help in the future work and daily life. The traveling crosses the boundary of nationality and culture, providing a different angle viewing the world. Travelers are able to introspect themselves in the process of traveling; however, changes of the traveler’s behavior are just out of impulse and will disappear soon.

The popularity of the Internet has broken down geographical barriers and caused a boom in online shopping while indirectly spurring a new business model of Internet services—the Online Oversea Surrogate Shopping. Interest in unique merchandise and international boutique brands as well as individualized demand has whetted the shopping appetite of consumers. However, limitations such as geographical locations, language, product logistics, and cash flow make purchasing such products an inconvenience for consumers. This in turn spurs the emergence of the overseas surrogate shopping Yet, the overseas surrogate shopping industry is still young, and research on this topic is limited, particularly on consumer motives for engaging in an overseas surrogate shopping. Therefore, this study explores consumers’ motivation factors in engaging in an overseas surrogate shopping by employing the critical incident technique. An online questionnaire survey was conducted, and after excluding invalid samples, 348 valid questionnaires were returned. Based on the classification of motives and the critical incident technique (the validity was also tested), we found that the primary motive driving consumers to engage in an overseas surrogate shopping was the economic factor (56%), individual factor (24%), followed by the social factor (18%) , and platform factor (1%). Lastly, based on these four impact factors, this study presents a discussion followed by practical recommendations. We hope that the findings of this study can provide references, based on actual practices in the industry, to current overseas surrogate shoppers and to those entering the field to effectively boost consumers' consumption desire, improve consumers' attitude, or accordingly make strategic adjustments to their operational direction.

The culture evolution process in Kinmen island is very much the same process as in Taiwan. Both processes were inherited from China mainland culture. Informal survey results showed that the ancesters of those residents in Kinmen were from China , during Soung dynasty (around 12 century). However the first wave of immigrants to Kinmen even occurred much earlier. The reliable historical records revealed the fact that after the Royal army forces of Jin Empire (around 7 century) were defeated by Chinese Northern Nomads, Chinese peasants were forced to move and settle to the South Bank of Yangtze River. Generally speaking, the history in Kinmen could be described as the long succession sessions of various forms, such as activities of cultivation, post-war chaotic phenomenons and immigration processes. Immigrants of different time periods revealed the related external pressures, and further interactively intertwined and generated different results. From the viewpoints of social, politic, economic and cultural aspects, both factors (i.e. factor-a, immigrants of different time periods; and factor-b, attributes of various dynasties) were the significant feature variables in the development process of Kinmen island. The main emphases of this research paper will be twofold: (a) The interesting descriptions on the relationships between moving-in immigrants and the development process in Kinmen. (b) The results of detail comparing among two significant factors. The important research results of this paper will be focused on the following areas : (a) Understanding the sustantial contributions and fruitful efforts of the Kinmen’s incoming new comers. Hopefully this area of research result will be of much useful as related to the updated culture development of Kinmen island. From the lessons learnt of the recorded culture development processes on the in-coming new comers in the past history, we may have better expected influences as these related to Kinmen’s future culture development. (b) Invesfigating the root causes of the negative impacts casued by Kinmen’s in-coming new comers, as well as the methodologies of avoiding and reducing the associated impacts. (c) The major roles and the trends of the in-coming new comers in the Kinmen’s fast changing social movement. The in-coming new comers has changed Kinmen’s social structures, and also has converted the old fashion social model from the closed static modules to the open dynamic modules. Betler understanding the major influences to Kinmen’s constructive modules will provide supportive expectations on the future strategic planning and culture development in Kinmen. One set of viewpoints on the major influences of the in-coming new comers in the Kinmen’s regional development may include of (a) Min-Nan culture (b) culture of the overseas Chinese culture (c) battle field culture in Kinmen and (d) Kinmen’s liquor culture. The second set of the viewpoints will be the description of the constructive Kinmen features: (a) converting from status of the counter-attack fortresses into the current situation of the small scale three communication channels between two sides of Taiwan Straits, (b) Kinmen’s Key roles (c) Kinmen’s incoming new comers: new bloods of nation’s future development, (d) Kinmen’s culture indirect support (e) main bodies of Kinmen’s culture (f) strength of the constructive force in Kinmen. The last set of viewpoints include (a) qualify improvements of Kinmen’s social and economic aspects contributed by incoming new comers. (b) improvement of government constructive conditions and (c) revealing the characterisfic Kinmen’s residence life. The author believes that, through revealing the experience, and the imbeded meaning of the in-coming new comers in the Kinmen’s regional development, we may have the abilitye to indicate the background environment changes, may verify and validate our nation’s development theory (b) helping more people to have betler understanding of Kinmen’s development and experience (c) providing continuative old theories and (d) recommending succinct and adjustment suggestions as well as injecting better insight for future development. This research seeks to investigate logistics services requirements in Europe, America, and South East Asia from a Taiwanese manufacturer’s perspective. Six factors are extracted from the 33 logistics service attributes based on a factor analysis. These six factors were identified as value-added services, transportation and warehousing services, integration system services, consolidation services, and support services. These service factors were used to classify respondents into four segments, namely, information service oriented firms, transportation and added value services oriented firms, consolidation and storage services oriented firms, and integration system and supportive services oriented firms. Abstract The main purpose of this dissertation focus on the last 19th history of Germany. Since Wilhelm II ascended the throne of the German empire in 1888, the new German government started to adopt a different policy in diplomacy. Wilhelm II was very enthusiastic about the overseas expansion. The new foreign policy different from Bismarck was “Weltpolitik”, which includes the colonial policy and Navy construction. Additionaly, due to the economic and industrial reasons, the German Empire actively invaded in the international affairs with Imperialism. Many countries were enthusiastic about the military development. The basic condition to maintain the relationship with others, and German played an important role on this mutual and complicated relationship with those countries at the time. Furthermore, the industrial revolution was a great progress in Europe during the 19th century. At the time time, it made a great impact and brought the new industrial revolution. This study in third chapter also discusses the economic strategies about capitalism. Capitalists, bourgeois and the working class were the new social sphere in the end of 19th century. Capitalists’ dynamic support made the new oversea policy became clearly. This is the “Neo-imperialism ”with the oversea expansion in the later 1890s. The New foreign policy ”Neuer Kurs” in the oversea expansion program was try to extend Germany’s political and economic progress to its colonial settlements. When Germany built its Navy fleet and sought the colonial areas, they had to face a stronger challenge with other countries, such as The Great Britain, Japan, France and Russia etc. Develop Navy force could defend and protected it’s own colonial territories in oversea, including Africa, Asian and kiautschou in China. Otherwise, due to widespread industrial development, Germany, the same as other European countries, aimed to become a major imperial power and derive commercial interests from outside. Another important point of this dissertation is Germany’s diplomatic relationship with Britain. The Anglo-German issues and conflicts in oversea competition from end of the 19th century to “The Great War”. Even though, the new foreign policy led Germany onto the stage of world powers, it was finally, military development that brought the great empire to “The Great War”. Maybe this unambiguous condition was Germany’s inevitable result, and this consequence changed Germany’s role in Europe eventually. In conclusion, many international powers were reconstructed and changed on the international order again after World War I (The Great War). Especially the German empire, rose and declined during this half century. Looking back to the history, not only for Germany but also for other European Powers , this period is really a significant turning point in the Modern Age.

Many islands in Philippines adopt the diesel generators as main power generation system, resulting in the relatively high costs due to transportation and fuel. At the same time, their carbon emissions are also serious. In some small islands, the electricity is provided by diesel generators only in the nighttime while some other larger islands have an all-day electricity supply. In order to reduce the dependence of diesel generator, provide all-day electricity supply and protect the benefits of both economic and environmental aspects, the designing and planning of the microgrid system in Philippines Islands are discussed in this paper. The newly established photovoltaic system and energy storage system are integrated with the existing diesel generator sets to operate the various scenarios, such as islanding mode, grid-tied mode and peak load shifting, in the expect of stable electricity supply.

This study explores the factors for the relocation of manufacturing factories for Taiwanese Oversea Industry from the characteristics of the investment location and the companies, and this study will theoretically follow a resource-based view. Through examination of the relocation of manufacturing factories, the cost of human resources is not the single key transfer factor for relocation of these factories; other transfer factors include adequate human resource for large production needs, factory scale for mass-production capabilities, flexibility of labor hours, and the completeness of the supply chain. This allows factories to quickly adjust their production scale to respond to market needs. Therefore, this study explores the key transfer factors that Taiwanese Oversea industry consider while performing relocation of manufacturing factories under drastic changes of production environments. This study obtains the following research conclusion through literature review and interviews with Taiwanese entrepreneurs: Key transfer factors for manufacturing factories include understanding of area risks, cost of production human resources, ease of obtaining human resources, degree of production standardization, familiarity with investment location and international strategy and motives. However, the important transfer factors that Taiwanese Oversea Industry considers are: understanding of area risks, human resource costs, ease of obtaining human resources, familiarity with investment location and quality of human resources. Based on research conclusions, we recommend that: certain economic level must be achieved before transferring manufacturing factories; good relationship needs to be established with local governments; aggressively strengthening capability for controlling product quality and establish manufacturing bases as early as possible. In addition, when Taiwanese entrepreneurs invest overseas, they must prioritize location of investment.

Abstract Globalization in today’s business trend and climate has significantly shortened distance among countries. As a result, resources sharing and reallocation are being handled at a much more efficient pace with positive progress. Therefore, in moving towards business globalization, planning for business continuous and being more competitive have become the primary areas of focus for many of corporations. The Logistic Regression Analysis made in this thesis is based upon the forecast theory stated in ‘Foreign Direct Investment’ and the 2001 survey results by Department of Statistics, Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C, in which targeted at the manufacturers who have directly involvement in foreign investment. In addition, this thesis provides the comparisons and discussions of investment options that valued by different groups of investors. Below is an overview of analytical findings described in this document: 1.Unlike manufacturers who invest in Asiana (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippine, Singapore, and Thailand) areas, majority of investors who invest in China and USA have confident in local business climate and believe the environment has induced great business opportunity and potential. 2.Manufacturers who invest in China believe it is easier to obtain land in China. However, such thought is not supported by the investors who choose to invest in a different region, such as USA or Asiana. 3.Cheap labor in China is another factor that encourages foreign manufacturers for investment in China. On the other hand, labor is not a determine factor for manufacturers to invest in USA. 4.Unlike investing in USA, diminishing local business climate is one of the major factors for manufacturers to choose to invest in China and Asiana. 5.Manufacturers who invest in China have been identified to have follow trends of their Taiwanese clients to go investing in China, while manufacturers invest in USA because of the requests from their clients. 6.Majority of manufacturers who invest in China are more in the area of mass producing of final products, while semi products is more of the concentration for manufacturers who invest in Asiana. 7.Manufacturing Investors from high density of Research and Development (R&D) regions tend to invest in USA. On the other hand, less such investors choose to invest in China. In conclusion, developing countries and well-developed countries have different factor endowments that attract and impact different groups of manufacturing investors’ decisions. Analysis described in this thesis has clearly shown that investors consider not only the pros and cons from corporation’s aspects, but also from the pros and cons of the target regions to select the final region of interests for investment.

Since China became a net oil importer in 1993, China’s remarkable economic growth has fueled a demand for oil that has outstripped domestic sources of supply. China’s reliance on oil imports to satisfy its oil requirements has become the potential threat to the national security. Therefore, The Chinese government advocated the “Go Abroad” strategy and support overseas investment by the Chinese state-owned oil companies to diversify China’s oil supply. This paper focuses on the development of Chinese oil companies’ overseas investment based on the political-economic approaches to oil security. The research problem of this paper is: Why did the Chinese government decide to drive the state-owned companies’ overseas investment? In what condition did the Chinese government interfere in overseas investment activities? What is Chinese oil companies obtained in their “Go Abroad” activities? What Challenge will Chinese state-owned companies’ investment in overseas oil fields face? The conclusion of this paper is that the incomplete business activities which the government’s intervention in the overseas investment will lead to can’t ensure oil security. It can be predicted that the Chinese state-owned oil companies’ will have the economic nationalism guide the direction of their overseas investment development, but they will increasingly participate in the free trade mechanism in the international oil market.

Due to the rapid advance in digital technology, the traditional strategy of marketing oversea real estate is faced with operational crisis. Enterprises that specialize in oversea real state in the past are all seeking innovative business model after the impact of globalization, rise in salary and economic recession to expand their business. In addition, the flourish of ecommerce caused by development of digital technology and internet drives classic enterprises to apply digital technology and digital ecommerce platforms to ensure brand position and product value and to create new business. Therefore, this study primarily explores the innovation of sales model in oversea real estate. Yet, due to the change in market environment and the advance in information technology, gaining competitive advantage should not become the core of the entire operating strategy. Owners must adopt innovation in their sales model in real estate to create their competitive advantage. Innovation in oversea real estate sales model has been explored from different dimensions including source of innovation, enterprise performance, politics, currency rates, business development and innovation in sales model. This study follows related literature regarding two dimensions in innovation of oversea real estate sales model: 1. Core factors in oversea real estate sales model. 2. Innovation type in different oversea real estate sales model (revenue, start-up and strategic model innovations). In this case, the level of innovation in oversea real estate sales model will be based on the improvement of the sales model. Finally, according to the development of types of enterprise operating model by Giesen et al., (2007), this study proposes the following oversea real estate sales models: 1. Innovation in revenue model and innovation in non-real estate revenue sales model. According to the interviews in this study, we suggest that the marketing of oversea real estate needs to apply internet and social networking sites to be most effective. In addition, managing brand through social media can create brand image and lower marketing cost. Performing brand marketing for oversea real estate on social networking site will be the best choice since it will provide the best results for the lowest cost.

The topic of this study mainly focuses on a required project management information system for the oversea facility planning projects in an Electronic Manufacturing Service industry. By using the case study on a facility layout planning project located in mid-Europe as the research objective, we study how a Taiwan EMS company deploys her global manufacturing strategy in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) market. We review the EMS business environment, analyze the key successful factors and then apply the project management methodology and systematic facility layout planning to study the frameworks of executing an oversea facility layout planning project and the requirements of a project management information system. Lastly, we propose a best practice as a reference for an EMS company to deploy the complete manufacturing facility layout planning. According to the findings in this research, there are three elements to determine the successful possibility as the project collaboration, the performance of the project organization and the decision-making efficiency. In mapping the practical experiences of the project management domain knowledge, the key successful factors are integration management, human resource management and communication management. In accordance with the field survey and interviews in the target territories during our study, it was also found that alone the economic development progress in Europe continental, the Taiwan EMS company also encounters the issues of the shortage of labors and the higher and higher labor cost. As a result, in terms of the strategies in manufacturing process development, EMS companies need to adopt a highly integrated automatic manufacturing information system in order to reduce the requirement on labor headcounts and skills. Hopefully the conclusion of this study could provide some contribution to academic circle and industry, eventually.

That’s why the study wants to study the core compentency model of the overseas branch manager in Taiwan banking industry and hopes to provide some valueable information to the Taiwanese bank in choosing the right person from the candidates. First, the study lists all the criteria of KSAOs through studying the documents and interviewing with the specialists. Second, the study sorts all the criteria via Gray Relational Analysis. Third, the study top-down the objective to 4 criteria and selects 5~7 sub-crietira from each criteria to develop the AHP questionnaire. The study sends three AHP questionnaires to each qualified Taiwanese bank which with two overseas branches, total 42 questionnaires, and analyses the 20 returned questionnaires. It finds that (1) “Traits” are the priority amoung the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. (2) “Integrety” is the priority of the “Traits”. (3) “Compliance the internal & external laws and regulations” is the priority of the “Knowledge”. “Distinguish the risks” is the priority of “Skills”. “Leadership” is the priority of the “Abilities”. Finally, it hopes that the study may assist the Taiwan banking industry in selecting the right person to be the overseas branch manager.

In view of Taiwanese enterprises’ expansion to world market since 1991 and government’s policy toward Southeast Asia and policy toward West Mainland China, Taiwan non-life insurance companies decided to go abroad to set up office for serving their clients. Although Taiwan non-life insurance companies have 19 years experience in exploring world market, however, they still have no breakthrough in overseas business. In this study, I will bring out my view for the operation of non-life insurance companies in Southeast Asia and Mainland China which will be the biggest market in the future. The analysis for countries economic growth, local insurance market, laws of foreign insurance company entry, Taiwanese enterprise investment is also presented in the study. In order to study Multination Enterprise & Overseas Market Entry Model, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group is taken as a model to analyze how the conservative non-life Japanese insurance company expand their international business and write local accounts by merging to achieve their global perspective. By the analysis, we can find that Taiwan non-life insurance companies shall utilize their advantage and resource to explore their strategy in different countries. Basically, they shall center on market instead of cost when they build global strategy.

Due to trend of economic globalization, enterprises need to designate better employees to their subsidiaries for helping business. However, the performance of expatriates may be affected by oversea adaptation. Therefore, this study is to examine the personal background differences of expatriates with respect to personality, workplace friendship, and oversea adaptation and to explore the relationships of oversea adaptation with personality and workplace friendship. This study adopted a questionnaire survey approach and the research subjects were 93 expatriates recruiting from different industry. Through one-way ANOVA, correlation and stepwise regression analyses, the findings indicated that male expatriates exhibited more personalities towards extraversion, openness to experience than those of female, whereas those expatriates graduating from college and graduate showed greater extraversion. Next, the lower-level and mid-level managers demonstrated more openness to experience; the expatriates of the manufacturing industry showed greater agreeableness, openness to experience, and conscientiousness than those of the service one. The expatriates in the R & D department demonstrated higher extraversion, agreeableness, and friendship opportunity, while the ones in the manufacturing industry showed better friendship prevalence. Then, the expatriates with age of 41-45 showed better general adaptation and those ones of keeping company with family members and having work experiences more than five years demonstrated better work adaptation. In addition, personalities of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and workplace friendship were positively related to oversea adaptation of expatriates. The friendship prevalence, neuroticism, and extraversion had positive effects on general adaptation, whereas the friendship prevalence, neuroticism, and conscientiousness had positive effects on interaction adaptation. Then, the friendship opportunity was the best indicator of work adaptation. The implications of this study are to select personalities of extraversion, agreeableness, openness to experience, conscientiousness and low neuroticism for expatriates, and to value workplace friendship for organization, and to enhance the oversea adaptation of expatriates.

Abstract This research is trying to understand the principles of oversea investments by those entrepreneurs in PCB industry. The purposes are as follows: 1.To discuss the definitions and related factors about the principles of oversea investments in PCB industry. 2.To understand the situation about oversea investments in PCB industry in Taiwan. 3.To summarize the suggestions about the principles of oversea investments which expertized by upstream, middle stream and downstream experts, and then support an integrated agreement. 4.By applying AHP, we can disintegrate complicated questions into an simple, hierarchy structure. The result of this research indicates:In the second step, it is obvious that the PCB firms emphasize ”industry environment”, and there is no distinguished difference between “risk of investment” and “government policy”. But the weight of “technological system” is the lowest. The weight in the third step, the difference in “industry environment” is not positive. The weight in the third step about “risk of investment”, the experts emphasize” political risk of invested country”. We conclude that the PCB firms are focus on “political risk of invested country”, and the last is “cultural risk of invested country”. In the final weight, the fourteen important evaluation principles are concentrating on the “demanding conditions in PCB industry”in the industry environment facet(Total three elements),”the government’s environmental policy to PCB industry”in the government policy facet(Total three elements)and “the political risk of invested country”in the risk of investment facet. We suggest that the PCB firms want to invest oversea can refer our research conclusions. According to more important principles, they can develop adaptive strategies and methods to make limited resource into best fit, and maximize the synergy of oversea investment.

With the coming of ageing society by average age increase, distribution for population age exist structure change condition in addition, economic growth also tend to easy and smooth, at the atmosphere of focusing recreation, oversea tour has been a trend in domestic hence, it is more worth to investigate the effect factors on oversea tour. This paper investigate the affection factors of Taiwanese oversea tour aspiration by panel data smooth transition regression method to control other factors which can affect oversea tour aspiration and potentially explain the heterogeneity exit in time and the aspiration to oversea tour to different countries. First, we provide the evidence of people numbers for oversea tour is varied with time and changed smoothly by nonlinear characters and be determined by exchange rate and oil price volatility. Second, explanatory variables correspond to the threshold of transition variable will present negative marginal effects, it means that variables to oversea tour is not constant but variables with time and price cost. Finally, when adopt exchange rate to be threshold, transition speed of the model is 20 times higher then that of threshold of oil price. It means that exchange rate reflect to oversea tour cost is higher and faster then that comes from oil price and can reflect to the aspiration of oversea tour immediately.

This study examines the relationship between setting up oversea presences and operating performances in Taiwan’s banks. The empirical samples used are 45 Taiwan’s banks and their financial statements. The data is analyzed by SPSS package software and the statistical methods include the T test, Mann-Whitney U test, one-way ANOVA, and analysis of covariate. Meanwhile, the financial performance indexes consist of deposit and debt growth rates, capital operation efficiency, capital resources, management abilities, and profitability. The empirical results of this paper show that: 1) Taiwan’s banks setting up oversea presences are better than those that do not set up oversea presences on management abilities and capital resources, but worse on capital operation efficiency; 2) Taiwan’s banks setting up more oversea presences are not better than those that set up less ones on financial performances. According to the empirical results, this study suggests that: 1) Taiwan’s banks should focus on oversea presences’ “quality”, rather than “quantity”; 2) Taiwan’s banks setting up oversea presences should emphasis on their capital operation efficiency.
