Tekst dotyczy lat 1919–1920, czasu odzyskania przez Polskę niepodległości i wojny polsko-bolszewickiej, który z przyczyn cenzuralnych był skrótowo omawiany w literaturze poświęconej Juliuszowi Osterwie i Reducie, chociaż zarówno Osterwa, jak i jego zespół byli w tę wojnę zaangażowani. Autorka próbuje odtworzyć warunki społeczno-polityczne, w jakich twórca Reduty otwierał teatr w 1919. Skupia się na tym, jak stan wojny ze wszystkimi sąsiadami Polski wpływał na dyskusje na temat zadań teatru. Opisuje również związki intelektualne Osterwy ze Stefanem Żeromskim i Wincentym Lutosławskim, którzy pozostawali wówczas w orbicie myśli Romana Dmowskiego, ideologa Narodowej Demokracji. Na tej podstawie stawia tezę, że w latach 1919–1920 myślenie Osterwy o scenie narodowej i powinnościach „nowoczesnego Polaka” było bliskie endeckim ideom, Reduta zaś – w pierwszych miesiącach swej działalności – była dla środowisk prawicowych nadzieją na odnowienie polskiego teatru.

Abstract:
Autorka wyodrębnia trzy najważniejsze punkty w artystycznej drodze Osterwy: realizację dramatu Uciekła mi przepióreczka Stefana Żeromskiego i sprzęgnięcie indywidualności twórcy i jego koncepcji z ideą przedstawioną w dziele, działalność Reduty objazdowej (1924–1939) oraz wojenne koncepcje Teatru Społecznego. Z Żeromskim połączyła Osterwę idea regionalizmu i pracy u podstaw, a docent Przełęcki, grany przez lata przez aktora, stał się jego duchowym patronem. Zainaugurowane w 1924 roku objazdy Reduty po Rzeczpospolitej zespół traktował jak misję społeczną. Celem teatru było upowszechnienie dzieł dramaturgii polskiej, ożywienie życia intelektualnego na prowincji, edukacja i zapewnienia widowisk o doskonałym poziomie artystycznym społecznościom, które pozbawione były miejscowych teatrów. Osterwa zorganizował wzorcowy teatr objazdowy, który pod względem skali, rozmachu i regularności objazdów był wydarzeniem bez precedensu w dziejach polskiej sceny. Przytoczone statystyki obrazują skalę tego zjawiska, które pozostaje fenomenem na mapie teatru dwudziestolecia międzywojennego.W latach wojennych Osterwa pracował nad koncepcjami Teatru Społecznego, czyli projektem reform organizacji widowisk na prowincji i próbą stworzenia nowoczesnego teatru dla masowego odbiorcy. Projekt ten nie został zrealizowany, można go zrekonstruować na podstawie zachowanych raptularzy i dzienników wojennych Osterwy.

Abstract:
This paper is dedicated to the theatrical novel by Tadeusz Kudliński, Świętokradca (1947), in which a fictional dialogue between the author of the novel and the performance concept of Shakespeare’s Hamlet by Juliusz Osterwa is being held. Analysis of the novel, in which a metatextual frame is included as well, is confronted with earlier considerations of Wanda Świątkowska, who had conducted a close analysis of Juliusz Osterwa’s Hamlet, considering his personal and professional relationship with Tadeusz Kudliński, too. The novel Świętokradca, released in the year of Osterwa’s death, not only provides another interpretation of Hamlet, but also makes an attempt to combine both Kudliński’s and Osterwa’s concepts.

Abstract:
Artykuł ukazuje sposób funkcjonowania twórcy Reduty, Juliusza Osterwy, w przestrzeni społeczno-politycznej. Punkt ciężkości przeniesiono z aktywności teatralnej na metody działania w życiu publicznym i na relacje z ludźmi decydującymi o możliwościach realizacji planowanych przedsięwzięć artystycznych. Zwrócono uwagę na sieć powiązań wolnomularskich, mających w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym znaczny wpływ na rzeczywistość, nie tylko społeczną czy polityczną, ale także artystyczną. Osterwa, zainteresowany ezoteryką, antropozofią i romantycznym spirytualizmem, członek pierwszej założonej w niepodległej Polsce loży masońskiej, miał w środowisku wolnomularskim rozległe kontakty i wykorzystywał je do realizacji planów teatralnych. Przedmiotem refleksji jest też jego działalność jako artysty-społecznika i artysty-obywatela, co niejednokrotnie wynikało z wolnomularskich ideałów. Powiązanie wybranych epizodów z biografii Osterwy z historycznymi i instytucjonalnymi uwarunkowaniami oraz z inspiracjami religijno-ezoterycznymi umożliwiło ukazanie różnych aspektów osobowości artysty i jego skomplikowanych relacji z władzami państwowymi w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym i w pierwszych latach powojennych.

Artykuł jest poświęcony działalności Juliusza Osterwy po II wojnie światowej, w latach 1944–1947. Autor charakteryzuje społeczną i artystyczną postawę Osterwy wobec nowej rzeczywistości i przypomina rolę, jaką odegrał on w odbudowywaniu polskiego teatru po wojnie. Rysuje także obraz jego skomplikowanych relacji z komunistyczną władzą, pokazując, że wymykają się one jednoznacznym klasyfikacjom i ocenom. Tekst koncentruje się w głównej mierze na przedstawieniach zrealizowanych w tym czasie przez twórcę Reduty: Uciekła mi przepióreczka Stefana Żeromskiego (1945) w Krakowie, Fantazy Juliusza Słowackiego (1945) w Łodzi, Lilla Weneda Słowackiego (1946) i Papuga Kazimierza Korcellego (1946) w Warszawie, wreszcie Fantazy w Krakowie (1946) z ostatnią rolą Osterwy. Na podstawie prasowej recepcji tych spektakli tworzy obraz nadziei i napięć towarzyszących powojennej działalności wybitnego aktora, reżysera i pedagoga w ostatnich latach jego życia. Wspomina także o niezrealizowanych pomysłach, których śmiertelnie chory Osterwa nie zdołał urzeczywistnić.

Abstract:
Artykuł jest próbą rekonstrukcji historii przyjaźni znanego filozofa Wincentego Lutosławskiego (1863–1954) i Juliusza Osterwy (1885–1947) poprzez zachowane ślady listowe i diarystyczne. Przyjmując porządek chronologiczny, autorka przedstawia okoliczności ich spotkania w Wilnie w 1925 oraz trajektorię podróży i zetknięć aż do śmierci Osterwy. Przy okazji wyłania się krąg ważnych miejsc, wydarzeń i postaci, które wywarły wpływ na obu korespondentów, m.in. Kraków i prapremiery sztuk Wyspiańskiego, Kosów Huculski i zakład przyrodoleczniczy Apolinarego Tarnawskiego. Wśród problemów poruszanych w tekście najważniejsze dotyczą charakteru wzajemnego wpływu Lutosławskiego i Osterwy: poprzez dzieła (słowo pisane, grę aktorską), bezpośredni, osobisty kontakt i formowanie poglądów, wspólne przedsięwzięcia (szczególnie istotne w okresie okupacji, gdy obaj mieszkali w Krakowie lub okolicach). W tekście pojawiają się też mało znane przykłady promowania teatru Reduta za granicą, którego podjął się Lutosławski. W aneksie do artykułu znalazła się edycja dwudziestu listów i kartek od Osterwy do Lutosławskiego z lat 1925–1943 przechowywanych w spuściźnie filozofa w archiwum Nauki PAN i PAU w Krakowie.

Abstract:
Juliusz Osterwa podczas drugiej wojny światowej, którą postrzegał jako czas oczyszczenia i pokuty, planował powołanie dwóch bractw aktorskich – Genezji i Dali. Dal miała być bractwem świeckim, Genezja – religijnym, a dokładniej katolickim. W wojennych dziennikach i zeszytach tematycznych przygotowywał projekty działania tych stowarzyszeń mających służyć całkowitemu przeobrażeniu teatru. W artykule podjęto próbę przedstawienia praktycznych rozwiązań przygotowywanych dla Genezji. Na podstawie niepublikowanych manuskryptów z lat 1941–1944 – dziennika, modlitewnika Genezji oraz kilku zeszytów analizujących strukturę mszy świętej – autor stawia tezę, że praca w Genezji miała być zwieńczeniem drogi prowadzącej do teatru rozumianego jako misterium, a praktyczne ćwiczenia oparte na tekstach liturgicznych i modlitewnych miały stać się wehikułem wynoszącym teatr na poziom duchowy. W dokumentach można również znaleźć konkretne rozwiązania dotyczące przestrzeni scenicznej i przestrzeni warsztatowej: „świętnią” (świątynią) Genezji miał się stać kościół Świętego Krzyża w Krakowie, a miejscem warsztatowej pracy (Genezjanum) – zamek w Pieskowej Skale. Jednak po wojnie, po zmianie ustroju, bractwa się nie ukonstytuowały, a Osterwa kontynuował pracę w teatrach repertuarowych.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to present two different theories about the “theatre of the word,” the first of these theories held by Juliusz Osterwa, and the second one held by Mieczysław Kotlarczyk and Karol Wojtyła. The idea that these theories belong to the literary phenomenon termed “proto-elements of theatre” is shared by all three of these conceptual authors. This phenomenon seems to be especially interesting because, according to Jan Ciechowicz, it constitutes the basis of Karol Wojtyła’s “theatrical world-view,” and, according to Janusz Pasierb, it also forms the “methodological roots” of Wojtyła’s poetry and drama. The analyses of the phenomenon presented in this article cover the canonical texts of both authors: the letters and private writings of Osterwa, gathered in the tome Przez teatr – poza teatr (2004), as well as Wojtyła’s correspondence, journalistic writings concerning the theatre and his works dealing with the theory of theatre, published in Poezje i dramaty (2001), and recalled in the recent Dzieła literackie i teatralne (2019). The spoken word, understood as a “proto-element of theatre,” and, at the same time, as a working, living force, is – in my understanding – a basic tenet of Karol Wojtyła’s thinking about theatre.

Osteoid ostemoa is benign bone tumor and third most common benign neoplasm of bone. Young male are frequently affected three times more than females. It can occur in any bone but most common in long bone such as femer and tibia. In routine ENT practice osteoma are infrequently found in temporal bones most commonly seen in external ear canal. Osteoid ostemoa in mastoid are rare. Cette étude est consacrée au parcours créatif du Théâtre d'Art Polonais. Il m'a paru utile de faire des recherches sur l'origine de ce théâtre, sur les sources de son inspiration et son activité. J'appuierai mes constatations sur des citations de théoriciens, ainsi que sur des écrits des créateurs et autres interprètes de Reduta. J'aimerai présenter les créateurs du Théâtre d'Art en Pologne, leur parcours créatif dans le contexte socioculturel de l'époque, leurs réalisations en collaboration avec les auteurs des pièces présentées et leurs relations avec tous les participants à la création scénique. Un point important de mon travail consiste à retrouver et à classifier les éléments caractéristiques des représentations scéniques. On peut constater que les conditions et les circonstances assez spécifiques du travail créatif de Reduta ont donné une existence autonome et unique aux oeuvres présentées. Un examen approfondi de documents et d'articles, conjointement à l'étude de l'iconographie permettra de dégager les caractéristiques principales des ouvrages analysés et présentés et de définir leur structure. Mon objectif est d‟arriver à faire une synthèse permettant de définir l'esthétique et la spécificité des créations théâtrales du Théâtre d'Art Polonais. Je ferai donc la description des quatre périodes caractéristiques de l'activité de Reduta : la Première Reduta Varsovienne (1919-1925), Reduta à Vilnius (1925-1930) et la Deuxième Reduta Varsovienne (1930-1939), la Quatrième Reduta (1939-1946). Enfin, je situerai ce théâtre dans un courant européen de renouveau artistique en précisant les voies de son évolution à travers une multitude d'évènements artistiques, en montrant ses aspects innovateurs et ses transformations au cours de la longue période de son existence
I devote my studies to the creative activities of the Polish Art Theatre, called Reduta, against the background of general European culture. I would like to focus on searching for the sources of this theatre, on all aspects which provided its inspiration and paved the way for creative action. I will base many of my reflections on the theories and quotations of the theorists of this theatre, as well as on the thoughts of its creators expressed in many works, as for example in memoirs or letters addressed to their closest associates. I would like to present the creators of the Polish Art Theatre such as Juliusz Osterwa and Mieczysław Limanowski, in order to indicate certain aspects of their private lives, their artistic ambitions, their memoirs, their theoretical work, their road and their aspirations for excellence in the theatrical domain, most fully expressed in the innovative directing and acting aspects of the artistic creations presented, based on naturalness and direct contact with the spectator. Therefore, one very important element of my study will be to determine the character of the work for this theatre and the participation of the entire theatrical team, both acting and technical, in the creation of a given show. The methodology of acting work introduced by Mieczysław Limanowski and Juliusz Osterwa was very significant in the artistic development of an actor, his means of presentation, the shaping of his creative personality. I would like to analyze and indicate three major periods in the existence of the Polish Art Theatre

This thesis explores the use of eucharistic language in the theatre theories of three different mid-20th-century Polish theatre companies--the Reduta Theatre, the Rhapsodic Theatre, and the Laboratory Theatre--especially as expressed in the writings of their respective primary founders: Juliusz Osterwa, Mieczysław Kotlarczyk, and Jerzy Grotowski. The thesis also describes how the Rhapsodic and Laboratory Theatres inherited different elements of the Reduta tradition, and how those two diverging branches of the Reduta's legacy have affected contemporary theatre. In addition, the thesis examines how different 20th-century theatre theorists have related the eucharist to theatre, and evaluates the legitimacy of the claim that religious rituals such as the eucharist can and ought to be replaced by secular theatrical rituals. Special attention is paid to Carl Lavery's three views of the sacred: secular, theological, and a/theological. Alexander Schmemann's conception of the eucharist is used to correct Lavery's presentation of the theological sacred and to argue for the possibility of a Christian sacred theatre, or a "eucharistic theatre." The thesis defines the concept of a eucharistic theatre; demonstrates the extent to which the Reduta, Rhapsodic, and Laboratory Theatres meet this definition; and suggests some ways in which a eucharistic theatre may be created today.

Предмет истраживања ове докторске дисертације су интермедијална преплитања у прозном и филмском стваралаштву савременог америчког аутора Пола Остера(1947). Интермедијалност је термин који описује однос и узајамни утицај присуства више медија у једном уметничком делу на формалном и тематском нивоу (књижевности, фотографије, филма, плеса). Истраживање се фокусира на досадашње стваралаштво овог аутора, са посебним акцентом на последњу деценију 20. века која је за то стваралаштво била пресудна; у дисертацији се тумаче, путем дубинских анализа, дијалошки однос различитих медија у Остеровим романима и филмовима које је режирао и/или за које је писао сценарија, разлози за постојање овог дијалошког односа и његове последице по формирање једног посебног уметничког сензибилитета. С обзиром на место Пола Остера као једног од најрелевантнијих стваралаца савремене америчке и светске књижевности, његов опус сагледава се у ширем контексту америчке и европске културе и поготову у контексту израженог утицаја визуелних медија од друге половине 20. века. Теоријски оквир комбинује постулате књижевне и филмске наратологије, као и студија интермедијалности и адаптације, у сврху преиспитивања начина на који се конвенције разнородних уметничких израза мењају и развијају, тиме остварујући простор за нова опажања.
Predmet istraživanja ove doktorske disertacije su intermedijalna preplitanja u proznom i filmskom stvaralaštvu savremenog američkog autora Pola Ostera(1947). Intermedijalnost je termin koji opisuje odnos i uzajamni uticaj prisustva više medija u jednom umetničkom delu na formalnom i tematskom nivou (književnosti, fotografije, filma, plesa). Istraživanje se fokusira na dosadašnje stvaralaštvo ovog autora, sa posebnim akcentom na poslednju deceniju 20. veka koja je za to stvaralaštvo bila presudna; u disertaciji se tumače, putem dubinskih analiza, dijaloški odnos različitih medija u Osterovim romanima i filmovima koje je režirao i/ili za koje je pisao scenarija, razlozi za postojanje ovog dijaloškog odnosa i njegove posledice po formiranje jednog posebnog umetničkog senzibiliteta. S obzirom na mesto Pola Ostera kao jednog od najrelevantnijih stvaralaca savremene američke i svetske književnosti, njegov opus sagledava se u širem kontekstu američke i evropske kulture i pogotovu u kontekstu izraženog uticaja vizuelnih medija od druge polovine 20. veka. Teorijski okvir kombinuje postulate književne i filmske naratologije, kao i studija intermedijalnosti i adaptacije, u svrhu preispitivanja načina na koji se konvencije raznorodnih umetničkih izraza menjaju i razvijaju, time ostvarujući prostor za nova opažanja.
This PhD thesis aims to research the intermedialnature of the literary and cinematic opus of thecontemporary American author Paul Auster(1947). Intermediality is a term describing therelationship and mutual influence of multiplemedia existing within one single work of art, onthe formal and thematic level (literature,photography, film, dance). The research focuseson the author’s works until the present day,looking especially at the last decade of the 20thcentury that marked a shift in the author’sexpression. The thesis employs a close readingof the dialogic relationship between differentmedia present in Auster’s novels and the filmshe wrote and/or directed, of the reasons behindthe existence of this dialogic relation, and of itsconsequences in the formation of a specificartistic sensibility. Bearing in mind the positionof Paul Auster as one of the most relevantwriters of contemporary American and worldliterature, his opus is analyzed in the widercontext of American and European culture and,especially, in the context of the heightened andrising influence of visual media in the secondhalf of the 20th century. The theoreticalframework combines the ideas of literary andfilm narratology, as well as intermedialitystudies and adaptation studies, all with the aimof re-examining the way in which conventionsof diverse artistic expressions get transformedand evolve, opening thus new spaces ofinterpretation.

Der Fund einer Stickerei aus dem Kriegsjahr 1916 mahnt. Den Schulen kam für die Erziehung der nachfolgenden Generation in diesen Kriegsjahren die Aufgabe zu, die Überlegenheit und den Durchhaltewillen der Deutschen zu vermitteln, den Stolz auf die Leistungen der Väter und Brüder im Feldzug. Den allgegenwärtigen Tod versuchte man als „Heldentod“ zu verklären. Das Thema Krieg wurde zum Thema des schulischen Unterrichts, ob in Aufsätzen, im Sport, im Handarbeits- oder Musikunterricht. Die Komponisten Alois Hába und Slavko Osterc haben Jahre hindurch schriftlichen Kontakt miteinander gehalten, von dem insgesamt 55 Briefe erhalten geblieben sind: Die Briefe von Osterc an Hába befinden sich im Besitz des Národní muzeum Praha - Ceské muzeum hudby Praha (Nationalmuseum - Tschechisches Museum der Musik Prag), die Gegenbriefe Hábas im Besitz der Narodna in Univerzitetna Knižnica Ljubljana (National- und Universitätsbibliothek Laibach). Wie aus dem Kontext hervorgeht, ist diese Korrespondenz wahrscheinlich nicht vollständig erhalten geblieben, was aber das Verständnis der vorhandenen Briefe nicht beeinträchtigt. Ihr Inhalt bietet reiche Informationen über die persönliche und künstlerische Position der beiden Komponisten in jener Zeit und darüber hinaus auch wesentliche Details zur Geschichte der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Neue Musik (IGNM).

Abstract:
The Peskin-Oster model for single molecule experiments on kinesin is extended to analyze the motion of two motors cooperatively pulling a bead in a kinesin motility assay. The various assumptions inherent in the model are tested for the case of two motors, and justified rigorously. We formulate a Markov process similar to the single motor case, and simulate the master equations on a restricted set { − N, ···, N} for each motor. The model is simulated for different initial configurations, and motors with identical parameters are found to synchronize in expectation, both spatially and in phase. It is found that synchronization is faster at higher loads and for higher adenosine triphosphate (ATP) concentrations. From a physical perspective, it is shown that the motors move to a configuration where the load is shared equally between them.
