Abstract:
If an orphan possesses wealth in any form, Allah commands the community or orphan guardian to use it judiciously in their benefit, conserve it for them, multiply it for them, if possible, and turn it over to them when they come of age , prophet Muhammad SAW (PBUH) spoke several times on the issues of the Orphats , who ever take care of the Orphats here in this world , Allah SWT will put him in to Paradise . This research is focus on the important of taken care of the Orphats in a Islamic religion perspective , orphans actually have the right to be taken care of. But with every right comes responsibility, and the Quran places this responsibility on the individual, meaning every Muslim should give to orphans in need.

Abstract:
Existing behavioral studies have suggested that individuals with early life stress usually show abnormal emotional processing. However, limited event-related brain potentials (ERPs) evidence was available to explore the emotional processes in children orphaned by parental HIV/AIDS (“AIDS orphans”). The current study aims to investigate whether there are behavioral and neurological obstacles in the recognition of emotional faces in AIDS orphans and also to further explore the processing stage at which the difference in facial emotion recognition exists. A total of 81 AIDS orphans and 60 non-orphan children were recruited through the local communities and school systems in Henan, China. Participants completed a computer version of the rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) task while recording ERPs. Behavioral results showed that orphans displayed higher response accuracy and shorter reaction time than the control (ps < 0.05). As for the ERPs analysis, the attenuated amplitude of N170 (i.e., an early component sensitive to facial configuration) was observed in AIDS orphans compared to the non-orphan control with happy and neutral faces; P300 (i.e., an endogenous component for affective valence evaluation in emotional processing) also showed significant differences in parietal lobe between groups, the non-orphan control group produced larger P300 amplitudes than orphans (p < 0.05). The results suggested that compared to the control group, AIDS orphans showed impaired facial emotion recognition ability with reduced brain activation.

Abstract:
The article presents the research on the characteristics of older preschool-age orphans’ interpersonal relationships. It reveals differences between the functioning of the sphere of orphans’ interpersonal relations and that of children brought up in families. Orphans show higher interest in adults, indicating that orphans’ need in adults’ attention is not satisfied. The main motives for communication with adults in families are mutual interactions and cognitive needs, while the dominant motive of orphan children is searching for attention and kindness. Orphans show increased inclination to conflicts, cause for which are every-day issues and the struggle for adults’ attention and friendliness. The main cause of conflicts characteristic for family-raised children is their selfaffirmation in games. Orphans are less and less likely to express their own emotions when communicating. They rarely turn to their partners for some advice, support, and sharing of experiences, unlike children in families. Orphaned children feel indifference in relationships with peers. Differences were found between orphaned children and family-raised children as for well-being of relationships: orphans’ well-being is quite low, while family-raised children’s well-being is high. Orphaned children, due to problems in interpersonal relationships with adults and peers, have some deviations in the most important psychological formations: distortion of self image, delayed formation of subjective attitude to oneself, as well as slow and abnormal development of activity, which may further negative affect their psychological well-being.

Abstract:
In the middle of the 17th century a transformation of states can be observed. The strives of early absolutist states were aimed at the increase of their economic and, in turn, their military potential. These goals were served by social policy measures aimed at increasing economic effi ciency and increasing state revenues. The development of central administration and regulations for orphan aff airs also served to maintain labour force and economic potential. The preservation of orphans’ property was intended to keep the economy going, and in the case of destitutes, orphanages intended to concentrate the workforce. The measures introduced in the German principalities soon appeared in the provinces of the Habsburg Monarchy. In the first quarter of the 17th century, the first theoretical work on orphan aff airs was written, and in the second half of the century it was followed by the first royal decree based on the principles set out in this volume. The aim of these provisions was to ensure the preservation and the control of the assets of the orphans by state means. Similar provisions to the Monarchy’s provinces were enacted in the Hungarian Kingdom in the last third of the 17th century. The offices introduced in the Austrian provinces, the separate Orphan’s Court (árvaszámvevőszék), the keeping of register on orphans (árvakönyv), and the continuous scrutiny of guardians were introduced in the free royal towns in the first third of the 18th century. All of this went parallel with the administrative reforms ordered in towns. The reform measures introduced regarding orphan affairs were realized at a varying pace one town to another, but by the end of the first third of the 18th century, the orphan regulations developed in the Austrian provinces had become established in all the free royal towns.

Abstract:
Background In Africa, approximately 25 million people live with HIV/AIDS and 12 million children are orphaned. Although evidence indicates that orphans risk losing opportunities for adequate education, health care, and future employment, the immediate effects of orphanhood on child nutritional status remain poorly understood. Objective This paper assesses the nutritional impact of orphanhood, with particular emphasis on taking account of various factors potentially confounding or masking these impacts. Methods Child anthropometry and orphan status were examined in 23 Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys and Demographic and Health Surveys throughout sub-Saharan Africa, which were subsequently merged into larger, region-specific datasets (East, West, and Southern Africa). To compare orphans and nonorphans, linear regression and probit models were developed, taking account of orphan status and type, presence of a surviving parent in the household, household structure, child age and sex, urban versus rural residence, and current wealth status. Results Few differences emerged between orphans and nonorphans in controlled and uncontrolled comparisons, regardless of orphan type, presence of surviving parent, or household structure. Age differentials did confound nutritional comparisons, although in the counterintuitive direction, with orphans (who were 8 months older on average) becoming less malnourished when age differences were taken into account. Wealth did appear to be associated with orphanhood status, although it did not significantly confound nutritional comparisons. Conclusions Orphans were not consistently more malnourished than nonorphans, even when potential confounding variables were examined. Since household wealth status is likely to change after becoming affected by HIV, ruling out wealth as a potential confounder would require more detailed, prospective studies.

Abstract:
Orphans are a social phenomenon that is always present in society both developed and developing countries. In every region there are always orphans who need education, livelihood and others, ironically they still lack systematic and integrated assistance from the government or the environment. Orphan / orphan word means a child who loses or is left dead by his father before he goes on (Lisanul 'Arab, 12/645, al-Mu'jam al-Wasith, 2/1063) The condition of orphans causes the loss of their hopes to live their lives, especially for disadvantaged orphans. An orphan is a child whose father has died. Accommodating and caring for orphans who come from families unable to aim to help orphans in order to complete their formal education in accordance with their education. Children must get serious attention, lest they are displaced due to family economic limitations, they must be helped to rise from adversity by embracing and introducing them to education, so that we have sufficient future leaders.

Abstract:
Current research was carried out to investigate the level of depression, anxiety and stress among orphan young adults living in Bahawalpur City. The core aim of the research was to compare these variables among orphans in connection with their socio-economic status and gender. To collect the responses from the orphans DASS-21 scales was administered on (N=200) orphans via purposive sampling. This was a quantitative research with cross-sectional research design. The results from the collected data depicted a significant high level of psychological distress among the orphans belonging from middle class socio-economic status. This also depicted that the level of stress and depressiveness were higher in male orphans instead of female orphans. Furthermore, on the basis of the results it concludes that parental loss is a worse stressful life event to which no one can cope. It is long lasting mental stressor. Hence, the orphan needs social support from others. The results of this study are a message for authorities, psychologists and educationists to provide social help or support program to heal the stress, anxiety and depression of the orphans. Abstract:
Although there is an “yatim” term, “piatu” and “yatim piatu” term that developed in the midst of Indonesian society, still such understanding needs to be reviewed again. Because, in the literature of classical jurisprudence (fiqh klasik) and also in the Qur'an known term orphans (yatim) only. This scientific article is prepared using the literature study method. In order to know the Qur'anic view of orphan as the object of da'wah, the writer first searches the word orphan in Al-Qur'an by using Mu'jam Al-Qur'an by Muhammad Fuad 'Abd al-Baqiy. After that, the author describes in detail the orphan textually, then understands the context of the verses based on “asbab al-nuzul” and the “mufassir” opinion. Furthermore, the authors classify and conclude some matters relating to orphans as the object of da'wah contained in the Qur'an. Based on this, the author managed to reveal four things related to orphans namely; a) verses about orphans, b) classification of orphans as the object of da'wah perspectives of the Qur'an, c) social reality of orphans in the past in the Qur'an, d) da'wah approach to orphans perspective Al-Qur'an. Furthermore, this article is expected to be a contribution for da'wah practitioners, empowerment agencies, mosques officials and mushalla officials, religious institutions and other social institutions to maximize orphans maximally and sustainably.

Floyd, William David. "Orphans of British fiction, 1880-1911." Thesis, University of Stirling, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/1893/3601.

Full text
Abstract:
Orphans of British Fiction, 1880-1911 Abstract William David Floyd Orphans of British Fiction, 1880-1911 focuses on the depiction of orphans in genre fiction of the Victorian fin-de-siecle. The overwhelming majority of criticism focusing on orphans centers particularly on the form as an early- to middle-century convention, primarily found in realist and domestic works; in effect, the non-traditional, aberrant, at times Gothic orphan of the fin-de-siecle has been largely overlooked, if not denied outright. This oversight has given rise to the need for a study of this potent cultural figure as it pertains to preoccupations characteristic of the turn of the century. The term “orphan” may typically elicit images of the Dickensian type, such as Oliver Twist, the homeless waif with no family or fortune with which he or she may discern identity and totality of self. The earlier-century portrayals of orphanhood that produced this stereotype dealt almost exclusively with issues arising from industrialization, such as class affiliation, economic disparity and social reform and were often informed by the cult of the ideal Victorian family. Beginning with an overview of orphanhood as presented in earlier fiction of the long nineteenth century, including its metaphorical import and the conventions associated with it, Orphans of British Literature, 1880-1911 goes on to examine the notable variance in literary orphans in genre fiction at the turn of the century. Indicators of the zeitgeist of modernism’s advent, turn-of-the-century orphans functioned as registers of burgeoning cultural anxieties particular to the fin-de-siecle, such as sexual ambiguity, moral and physical degeneration and concerns about the imperial enterprise. Furthermore, toward the century’s end, the notion of the ideal family fell under suspicion and was even criticized as limiting and oppressive rather than reliable and inclusive, casting into doubt the institution to which the orphan historically aspired and through which the orphan state was typically rectified. As a result, in contrast to the sentimental street urchin of early and middle century fiction, fin-de-siecle orphans are often unsettling, irresolute, even monstrous and violent figures.

Abstract:
El Salvador has a large population of children living in orphanages where, as predictions from previous research indicate, many will not meet developmental milestones that could be remediated with research and development. The purpose of this study was to determine milestone achievement and environmental impact among Salvadorian orphans at selected sites, in order to make recommendations for appropriate training materials to allow for the mentoring of caregivers to advance milestone achievement among the orphans. The five objectives addressed in the research are in context of two investigator selected orphanages in El Salvador: 1. Determine the current level of development of orphans using the Battelle Developmental Inventory Screening Test. 2. Determine characteristics of caregivers who have frequent interactions with the orphans. 3. Determine areas of strength and deficiency among the orphans with respect to Personal-Social, Adaptive, Motor, Communications, and Cognition. 4. Determine the level of association between selected characteristics of orphans with developmental milestone achievement. 5. Develop a model caregiver-training program for implementation at the two selected orphanages based on investigator-derived characteristics and related findings. Screening Tool strengths and deficiencies were identified among the orphans with respect to Personal-Social, Adaptive, Motor, Communications, and Cognition. The Batelle Developmental Inventory Screening Tool in Spanish was completed on 34 qualifying children at Hogar Immaculado Corazon de Maria orphanage and an additional ten screening tools were completed on qualifying children at Casa de Mi Padre. Statistical analyses determined the level of association between selected characteristics of orphans with developmental milestone achievement. Using findings from this initial phase, a model caregiver-training program was developed and implemented at the two selected orphanages based on investigator-derived characteristics and related findings. Conclusions from the study and recommendations were developed from the findings. The level of achievement of developmental milestones among the selected orphans was below the expected level for their chronological age. The caregivers employed by the two orphanages were a diverse group of individuals from a variety of backgrounds. The majority of them described themselves as not having formal education in child development. The strong interest they demonstrated during the training program indicated an eagerness and willingness to learn. The areas of greatest deficiency were communication and cognitive scores. The areas of relative strength were Adaptive and Motor skills. There were few statistically significant relationships between the selected independent variables and the scores on the screening tool with the exception of association between motor scores and both the child?s nutritional status and the number of months they have spent in the orphanage. Months spent in the orphanage also show some evidence of association with communication scores, but not statistically significant. The model intervention program was successfully implemented and should be part of an on-going training program. Future research should replicate this study in similar setting and provide additional probes with a larger sample to substantiate these finding and more in depth understanding for enhancement of both theory and practice.

Abstract:
Bibliography: leaves 151-161.
There is substantial evidence to indicate that South Africa is facing the prospect of a large number of children, now and in the future, who will be orphaned as a result of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In all likelihood, these children would have experienced psychological trauma through the illness and death of people close to them, and the social isolation that accompanies HIV-infection and AIDS-related illness and death. The ideal would be for as many of these children as possible to experience some type of family life in which to grow and mature into responsible adults. The aim of the present study was to explore a range of factors that might influence prospective carers' decisions to care for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. These include features of prospective carers; features of the orphaned child; and forms of assistance that may be required. By means of a postal survey, the present study explored existing adoptive and foster parents' (N=17S) willingness to care for an HIV/AIDS orphan. Results show that close to 69% of respondents indicated a willingness to care for an HIV/AIDS orphan. Although some differences were noted depending on the HIV status of the child and whether the respondent was an adoptive or foster parent, on the whole they also indicated a preferred willingness to care for an HIV-negative female child, up to the age of 6 years old, of the same culture and from the same family as themselves, and without surviving relatives or siblings. Free medical care and schooling for the child were the suggested forms of assistance required. The Theory of Planned Behaviour (Ajzen, 1991), explored in the present study, did predict intentions to care for either an HIV-negative or HIV-positive orphan. However, certain components of the models did not have good predictive ability calling into question the usefulness of the model as a means to explain and predict intention to care for an HIV/AIDS orphan. Implications of the study provide recommendations for persons involved with children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.

Abstract:
In the twentieth century, concern with child welfare resulted in one of the fastest growing social movements in the West. From the establishment of the Save the Children Fund in the UK at the close of the First World War, to the setting up of United Nations Children's Fund following the Second, to the near universal ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989, the child welfare movement has been marked by a concern with children internationally. In the last seventeen years, since the ratification of the convention, interest in the welfare of children in the developing world has grown dramatically. Children's welfare appeared in the 1997 UK Government white paper on international development, the World Bank suggested that child welfare was a useful development indicator, and large numbers of non-governmental-organisations were established (Boyden 1990). In Southern Africa, as a result of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, the close of the twentieth century saw increasing numbers of orphans appearing. As international concern regarding the social impacts of HIV/AIDS has risen, these orphans have become an issue of particular concern (Aspaas 1997). As a result of both the increasing interest in children's lives in general and the concern with orphans in particular, there are now a number of organisations specialising in orphan care (World Bank 2004, US Peace Corps 2004). These projects constitute a new social arena within which children live at least part of their daily lives. This thesis is an exploration of the social significance of four orphan-care projects functioning in Malawi. The analysis is made by looking at the identity of orphan as a social construct that has various uses, meanings and symbols attached to it and as a set of experiences that occur to children who have lost, through death, one or both of their parents.

Abstract:
The researcher is dealing intensively with the concept of care to the orphaned so that they may stop using their bodies to earn extra money in order to care for their siblings. The researcher has to put a special emphasis on two Methodist Church mission pillars, namely justice and education, to investigate the critical application of care for the orphans. The researcher furthermore sets out to establish the important role and contribution of the pastoral approach in the total or holistic wellbeing of orphaned children as it has been observed that the number of orphans in the Vukuzakhe community is escalating in an alarming way. The researcher has attempted to develop a discourse in dealing with the pain or grief the orphans and their families have concerning the Pastoral support offered to the ill, while hospitalized, and the subsequent after care services following death. The other intention of the research is to give a clinically based theological model of doing pastoral counseling and therapy within the orphaned environment. That is to deal with this study on a theological and psychological basis to give clinical pastoral care to the vulnerable orphans. It is felt the qualitative approach used will allow participants to relate to their processes and, together with the researcher, re-construct their realities. The methodology, therefore, provide participants with the space in which to explore the socially constructed meanings applied to the encountered experiences of being orphaned. The researcher?s aim is to empower the church to care for the orphans, and to arrive at a holistic understanding of all the steps and procedures involved in dealing with the orphaned. The researcher has also further engages Pollard?s work which opens a new way of positive deconstruction. This method allows me to reconstruct the lives of orphans as care givers so that the researcher creates a new way of caring for orphans.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study. The fundamental question is what factors influenced the living conditions of the 515 orphans left in the Versend estate between 1815 and 1848. To what extent impacted the inherited wealth, the age of the orphaned child, the number of siblings, and the role of guardianship and lordship shaping the fate of orphans. Applied methods. The orphan census and orphan documents of the Versend estate formed the basis of the research. With the help of data referring to their financial conditions, it was possible to compare the types of heritage and the handling of it. On the one hand, we examined the percentage distribution of all assets, and on the other hand, we performed calculations by filtering out different groups. The conclusions drawn from the figures were confirmed by examining individual examples. In the course of the research, in addition to our previous processing of the orphans of the Pécsvárad public foundation estate, we also reviewed the works related to the orphans in France. Outcomes. Most of the orphans in Versend were very poor, and the loss of their parents made their situation much worse financially. The little more affluent only had the opportunity to learn, which mostly meant some kind of craftsmanship. Marriage also allowed orphans displaced from the family farm to get land, so orphans were married relatively early. Early deaths were affected by the scarcity of wealth, the number of siblings, the age of becoming an orphan. The fate of the orphans was basically determined by their financial situation, but its further development was influenced by the person of the guardian, their residence and circumstances, and even the solicitude of the orphan’s guardian.

Abstract:
Throughout the 1960s, the racialized transpacific networks forged in the 1950s had unexpected effects on the lives of Korean children, including orphans like Oh Chiyŏng, who joined the World Vision Korean Orphan Choir. No World Vision program was more popular than the World Vision Korean Orphan Choir in the 1960s. These orphan choristers, known as the “happy singing larks,” helped white American Protestants associated with the “new evangelicalism” to believe that they espoused, and could espouse, racial democracy through individual financial donations, sponsorships, and the practice of humanitarianism. Yet image and reality often did not align, as the nearly orphan-less orphan choir unwittingly helped to expand whiteness beyond US borders. The intertwining of religion, race, and diplomacy embedded in the image of the choir facilitated the transformation of the image of neo-evangelicalism, or the “new evangelicalism,” into a nonliberal but mainstream movement.

Abstract:
Background. Unfortunately, according to the Ministry of Social Policy, as of 2022, there were almost 70,000 orphans and children deprived of parental care in Ukraine, and about 10,000 children become orphans every year. Knowing that we are now living in a difficult time, a time of war, we understand that the number of orphans and children deprived of parental care will increase even more, so the state must provide every child with the necessary protection and care that is necessary for their well-being, taking into account her guardians or other persons responsible to her by law, and to this end take all appropriate measures to give the child the opportunity to develop comprehensively and adapt to life in society. Purpose: determine the specifics of providing state social assistance to orphans and children deprived of parental care. Methods: method of analysis, synthesis, comparative method and generalization, analysis of documents. Results: Depending on the form of state social assistance provided to orphans and children deprived of parental care, they can be divided into: 1) state social assistance provided in cash (full state support, scholarship, special scholarships, assistance for orphans and children deprived of parental care, reimbursement of daily expenses during vacations, one-time monetary assistance for graduates, etc.); 2) state social benefits provided in kind (housing, etc.). 3) Social patronage and social support as the main forms of social assistance to orphans and children deprived of parental care. Conclusion: state social assistance for children is awarded in monetary form to foster parents for each foster child and to adoptive parents for each adopted child, and in accordance with the legislation, the amount of state social assistance for an orphan child or a child deprived of parental care is 2.5 subsistence minimums for children of the appropriate age, for children with disabilities - 3.5 subsistence minimums. Keywords: an orphan child; children deprived of parental care; social patronage; social support.

Abstract:
Masiye Camp in Matopos National Park, and Kids’ Clubs in downtown Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, are examples of a growing number of programs in Africa and elsewhere that focus on the psychological and social needs of AIDS-affected children. Given the traumatic effects of grief, loss, and other hardships faced by these children, there is increasing recognition of the importance of programs to help them strengthen their social and emotional support systems. This Horizons Report describes findings from operations research in Zimbabwe and Rwanda that examines the psychosocial well-being of orphans and vulnerable children and ways to increase their ability to adapt and cope in the face of adversity. In these studies, a person’s psychosocial well-being refers to his/her emotional and mental state and his/her network of human relationships and connections. A total of 1,258 youth were interviewed. All were deemed vulnerable by their communities because they had been affected by HIV/AIDS and/or other factors such as severe poverty.
