Abstract:
Ore blending is an essential part of daily work in the concentrator. Qualified ore dressing products can make the ore dressing more smoothly. The existing ore blending modeling usually only considers the quality of ore blending products and ignores the effect of ore blending on ore dressing. This research proposes an ore blending modeling method based on the quality of the beneficiation concentrate. The relationship between the properties of ore blending products and the total concentrate recovery is fitted by the ABC-BP neural network algorithm, taken as the optimization goal to guarantee the quality of ore dressing products at the source. The ore blending system was developed and operated stably on the production site. The industrial test and actual production results have proved the effectiveness and reliability of this method.

Abstract:
The problem of depletion of available mineral resources is identified and the reasons for its actualization are characterized due to incomplete extraction of metals from mined ores. It is noted that the strategy of the mining industry may be the use of unconventional technologies of metal extraction within the framework of combining traditional technologies with innovative leaching ones. It is proved that utilization of enrichment tailings, formation of the processes algorithm and engineering forecast of the prospects of the new technology are the real directions of mining production development. The paper considers a method of experimental substantiation of the possibility of waste-free utilization of ferruginous quartzite dressing tailings from the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly. The planning matrices and the results of comparing the technologies of traditional leaching of dressing tailings in conditioners and leaching in a high-speed disintegrator mill are presented with regression analysis of experimental data and graphical interpretation. A reference is given on the processes of mechanical activation, as a real opportunity to improve the indicators of the processing metal-containing raw materials, including involving dressing tailings in production. The experimental results obtained can be used in hydrometallurgical processes, including leaching of metals from dressing tailings, increasing the extraction of metals with a higher content. The paper considers the data on the metals content in secondary tailings after leaching in a disintegrator with mechanochemical processes activation. The directions of improvement of preparation of metal-containing raw materials for leaching in conditioners – disintegrators are indicated. The economic efficiency of waste-free disposal of dressing tailings is composed of the cost of extracted metals, raw materials for related industries and reducing environmental damage from the storage of toxic tailings of primary processing.

Abstract:
For magnetite and titanium magnetite ores, it is possible to use technology with the separation of concentrate before the last grinding stage. The possibility of staged separation of iron concentrate is due to different physical-mechanical properties of magnetite and rock minerals. The results of industrial and laboratory tests on the use of special magnetic separators with special structure, Derrick screen and screw separators in iron ore dressing schemes are presented. A comparison of proven dressing methods is performed. The choice of a specific dressing method for the staged separation of magnetite concentrate before the last grinding stage is determined by the properties of the base ore and the economic justification.

Abstract:
Mobilization of environmentally hazardous elements from loparite ore tailings when exposed to various leaching agents was studied in laboratory conditions. Leaching of pollutants from fresh tailings when exposed to atmospheric precipitation and the processes of interaction of mature tailings dust particles (-0.071 mm) with soil water were examined. It was found that in both cases, there is an intensive decomposition of the minerals making up the tailings and conversion of heavy metals (Zn, Mn, Sr) and rare earth elements of the light group (La - Sm) into a dissolved, and therefore bioavailable form. At the same time, the pollutant concentrations were many times higher than the maximum permissible concentrations for fishery water bodies. The results of the experiments indicate the environmental hazard associated with loparite ore concentration tailings due to the pollution of environment with heavy metals and rare earth elements released when the tailings interact with rainwater and soil water.

Full text
Abstract:
Two aspects of the computer simulation of minerals processing systems were investigated in order to facilitate more effective use of simulation technology. A user-interface was designed and combined with an existing simulator executive, resulting in the implementation of a user-friendly microcomputer based minerals processing simulator, MicroSim. Ease of use was achieved by consideration of the needs of the user of such a program. This resulted in the use of graphical methods for information input and output. Efficient form-filling techniques were developed for numerical data entry and editing. Models for the carbon-in-pulp adsorption process and for continuous gold leaching were derived. The CIP models were derived using a population balance approach. The method of characteristics and the method of moments were found to be particularly useful in solving the resulting equations. Besides being important processes in themselves, the integration of these models into MicroSim provided valuable experience regarding the use of such models in a simulator.

Abstract:
Thesis (MTech (Chemical Engineering))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2016.
Nickel, a valuable base metal, is the predominant product from the Nkomati mine in South Africa. High-grade nickel mineral ores (2%) from the Massive Sulphide Body have been depleted leaving those of low grade (0.3%). The beneficiation of this ore presents a challenge to the minerals processing industry. In response, batch froth flotation tests were used to explore the effects of mixtures of potassium amyl xanthate (PAX) and IPETC (Isopropyl ethyl thionocarbamate) on the grades and recoveries of nickel. In the mixtures, the xanthate accounted for 95.5, 90, 85 and 80 mole% respectively. Generally an increase in the nickel grade and recovery was observed with the mixtures relative to PAX. IPETC gave a significant increase in the cumulative water recovery with a significant decrease in cumulative nickel grade relative to PAX. PAX gave the highest cumulative nickel grade for the singular collector tests (1.9%), while obtaining the lowest cumulative recovery (77%). Out of the collector mixtures, mixtures 85% PAX: 15% IPETC and 90% PAX: 10% IPETC produced the joint highest cumulative grades (1.8%). These mixtures both gave recoveries of 82%. Collector mixture 95.5% PAX: 4.5% IPETC gave the second highest grade (1.7%) and the highest nickel recovery (85%). Although there were differences in the cumulative nickel grades and recoveries there were statistically no significant improvements observed with the use of the mixtures of PAX and IPETC in comparison to the industry mixture (95.5% SIBX: 4.5% IPETC). Tests were performed using the three best performing collector mixtures at molar dosages of 1.3, 0.65 and 0.325mmol/t. The highest cumulative nickel grades were obtained at the lowest collector dosages (at a molar dosage of 0.325mmol/t of 95.5% SIBX: 4.5% IPETC) with collector mixture 95.5% PAX: 4.5% IPETC being the most selective with a nickel grade of 2%. It was also observed that an increase in collector dosage, generally increased the cumulative nickel recovery with collector mixture 95.5% PAX: 4.5% IPETC at a molar dosage of 1.3mmol/t gave the highest cumulative recovery out of the tested mixtures (85%). The study also indicated that an increase in selectivity (i.e. cumulative grade) was at the expense of cumulative recovery. With a decrease in dosage, there was no significant improvement in the cumulative nickel grade and recovery for the tested mixtures compared to the industry mixture. There was however a significant decrease in the water recoveries achieved with PAX and collector mixtures 95.5% PAX: 4.5% IPETC at a molar dosage of 1.3mmolg/t of as well as mixture 90% PAX: 10% IPETC at a molar dosage of 0.65mmol/t.

Abstract:
The author’s concept, showing the need to manufacture finished chemical and metal-ore products from the various types of Russia’s specialized rare-metal raw materials using direct physico-chemical dressing methods instead of producing mineral concentrates by conventional dressing methods, is presented. Arguments in favour of thermo- and pyrochemical methods for the deep processing of various natural and artificial raw materials using liquation melting, plasma chemistry and pyrolysis, are put forward. Examples, showing the use and efficiency of these methods for processing rare-metal resources, including recommendations for industrial mineral deposits to be exploited and waste from active mining companies, are supplied. The author recommends to revive and develop rare-metal production and to replace foreign products by Russian ones with regard for the increasing role of the state and applied science.

Abstract:
The taxonomical structure of the plant communities of the landscape-technogenic systems were found taking the example Novokryvorizky Ore-Dressing Combine. Taxonomical indexes (ratio member family/genus; family/species; genus/species) were found at the plant communities. The complication of the taxonomical structure was determined by using three entropycal indexes.

Abstract:
In our time, a very urgent problem is the cessation of negative impacts on the environment and the return to the practical use of the territories of devastated lands. In this regard, it is important to find out the basic laws of primary soil formation in the area of these man-made neoplasms. The initial soil formation conditions were analyzed on 19 experimental sites which represent the main varieties of devastated land in the Kryvyi Rih Iron Mining and Metallurgical District (Central Ukraine): (i) waste rock dumps of old iron mines (old name “Forges”), (ii) tailing storage facility of underground iron mines, (iii) waste rock dumps of the Iron Ore Mining and Dressing Plant, (iv) waste rock dumps of the Granite Quarry Plant. It was established that on the devastated lands in Kryvyi Rih District, the initial soil formation occurs in very difficult conditions. Therefore, over 25- 100 years only very primitive soils were formed. The following features are inherent to them: (1) primitive soil profile (thickness 10-100 mm), (2) low levels of soil organic substance content (9.5-11.5 %), (3) alkaline indicators of the soil solution (pHH2O – 8.08-8.92, pHKCl – 7.42-8.23), (4) low levels of cation exchange capacity (6.34-8.47 mMol /100 g). By results of correlation calculations, among the factors of soil formation time (duration of soil formation) and input of plant ash elements’ fall are characterized by the maximum number of statistically significant correlation coefficients and their numerical values. In terms of chemical composition of the technosol, the values of organic matter content and exchangeable acidity (pHKCl) were the most predictable soil formation factors. Generally physical / chemical characteristics of geological rocks (as parent material) and time were the two most important factors in determining the initial pedogenesis on devastated lands in the Kryvyi Rih Iron Mining & Metallurgical District (Ukraine).

Abstract:
Taxonomical, ecological and ecology-coenotic structure of the species composition of plant communities of the landscape-technogenic systems on the example of the Kryvyi Rih Northern Ore-Dressing Combine has been studied. It has been found out that the structure of these plant communities depends on the degree of the anthropogenic transformation of the ecosystems.
