Abstract:
In the course of present space lander’s optimization, the problems, such as hardness of information integration, partiality of optimization, still exist. In order to solve these problems, Lander Multidisciplinary Optimization Platform has been built. Four engineering tools (Pro/Engineer, Patran, Nastran, ADAMS) are integrated into the platform based on optimization software—iSIGHT, which could ensure space lander’s kinematics and dynamics characteristics. Good optimum scheme is obtained after comprehensive optimization of the platform. Besides, the platform is managed by simulation management software—MSC.SimManage. Multidisciplinary optimization can be realized automatically through parameterized interface of the platform.

Abstract:
Due to the excellent performance of the frequency domain integration method, it is widely used for acceleration integral calculations. However, the frequency-domain integration needs to select the effective integration frequency band to achieve its optimal integration performance. This paper proposes the method with power spectrum density (PSD) estimation to realize the optimization integral of the acceleration signal. By analysing the power spectrum density of the acceleration signal, the optimal low frequency cut-off frequency is obtained. Combined with frequency domain integration algorithm, it can effectively remove low-frequency noise and improve integral accuracy. Then, the novel algorithm tested by an experiment platform with a vibration bench. Experiment results show that this algorithm can adaptively select the low-frequency cut-off frequency and realize frequency domain integration optimization and the integration error is controlled within ±0.2mm.

The crucial problem of the integration of multiple platforms is how to adapt for their own computing features so as to execute the assignments most efficiently and gain the best outcome. This paper introduced the new approaches to big data platform, RHhadoop and SparkR, and integrated them to form a high-performance big data analytics with multiple platforms as part of business intelligence (BI) to carry out rapid data retrieval and analytics with R programming. This paper aims to develop the optimization for job scheduling using MSHEFT algorithm and implement the optimized platform selection based on computing features for improving the system throughput significantly. In addition, users would simply give R commands rather than run Java or Scala program to perform the data retrieval and analytics in the proposed platforms. As a result, according to performance index calculated for various methods, although the optimized platform selection can reduce the execution time for the data retrieval and analytics significantly, furthermore scheduling optimization definitely increases the system efficiency a lot.

Abstract:
Integration of wireless sensor network into cloud computing is a growing paradigm that supports a massive amount of applications in cloud computing, optimization of resources required in the machines. This integration requires the optimization of resources to efficiently complete the different tasks in the devices at cloud platform. This optimization can be done using load scheduling algorithms. These algorithms reduce overload and achieve higher throughput by maximizing the machine utilization concerning cost stabilization. There are lots of methods like First Come First Serve, Min-Min, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for optimizing the load but we use Particle Swarm Optimization as it obtains the motivation from the social behavior of the flock of birds and analyses various approaches for load scheduling. In this paper, we propose the load scheduling algorithm based on PSO in wireless sensor networks for cloud computing to minimize total transfer time and cost stabilization. The proposed method is compared with the existing approaches used for load scheduling in Cloudlets. It is clear from the simulation results that the proposed method is more efficient because it minimizes the transfer time and cost than the conventional algorithms thereby making a system for cost stable.

Abstract:
AbstractThe traditional wind tunnel strain balance design cycle is a manual iterative process. With the experience and intuition of the designer, one solution that meets the design requirements can be selected among a small number of design solutions. This paper introduces a novel software integration-based automatic balance design optimization system (ABDOS) and its implementation by integrating professional design knowledge and experience, stepwise optimization strategy, CAD-CAE software, self-developed scripts and tools. The proposed two-step optimization strategy includes the analytical design process (ADP) and the finite element method design process (FEDP). The built-in optimization algorithm drives the design variables change and searches for the optimal structure combination meeting the design objectives. The client-server based network architecture enables local lightweight design input, task management, and result output. The high-performance server combines all design resources to perform all the solution calculations. The development of more than 10 balances that have been completed and a case study show that this method and platform significantly reduce the time for design evaluation and design-analysis-redesign cycles, assisting designers to comprehensively evaluate and improve the performance of the balance.

Abstract:
Optimal planning of utility supply station location is an integral part of infrastructural projects. In general, this is a multi-objective optimization process by considering engineering, financial and geographical constraints. A shift from conventional 2D-CAD, manual quantification and design application-based approach to Building Information Modelling (BIM)-Geographic Information System (GIS) integrated approach is found to be suitable for minimizing optimal planning time, cost and increasing automation. In this paper, an Autodesk Revit add-in tool is proposed aimed at integrating BIM and GIS for Genetic Algorithm (GA) based utility supply station location optimization and to assess the possibilities of this integration. From the case study it is observed that up to 90% of cost saving can be accomplished by this proposed approach. It is found that compared to the traditional multi-software approach with manual data transfer, this integration can be utilized for multi-stage optimization and is suitable for automating heterogenous data integration with increased accuracy. The platform in which the add-in tool is developed for the utility network can be at either BIM or GIS and this selection is influenced by the availability and ease of data retrieval from the respective semantic information system and the level of automation that is to be accomplished. Standardised BIM-based modelling combined with concepts like artificial intelligence and image processing techniques can be promising for attaining desired results in industrial applications.

The ABCSO algorithm is the integration of the artificial bee colony (ABC) in chicken swarm optimization (CSO). This method employed VM placement based on the requirement of the VM for the completion of the particular task using the service provider. Initially, the cloud system is designed, and the proposed ABCSO-based VM placement approach is employed for handling the factors, such as load, CPU usage, memory, and power by moving the virtual machines optimally. Abstract:
Single photon sources (SPS) based on semiconductor quantum dot (QD) platforms are restricted to low temperature (T) operation due to the presence of strong dephasing processes. Although the integration of QD in optical cavities provides an enhancement of its emission properties, the technical requirements for maintaining high indistinguishability (I) at high T are still beyond the state of the art. Recently, new theoretical approaches have shown promising results by implementing two-dipole-coupled-emitter systems. Here, we propose a platform based on an optimized five-dipole-coupled-emitter system coupled to a cavity which enables perfect I at high T. Within our scheme the realization of perfect I single photon emission with dissipative QDs is possible using well established photonic platforms. For the optimization procedure we have developed a novel machine-learning approach which provides a significant computational-time reduction for high demanding optimization algorithms. Our strategy opens up interesting possibilities for the optimization of different photonic structures for quantum information applications, such as the reduction of quantum decoherence in clusters of coupled two-level quantum systems.

An integration design platform is under development for the design of the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR). It mainly includes the integration physical design platform and the integration engineering design platform. The integration engineering design platform aims at performing detailed engineering design for each tokamak component (e.g., breeding blanket, divertor, and vacuum vessel). The vacuum vessel design and analysis module is a part of the integration engineering design platform. The main idea of this module is to integrate the popular CAD/CAE software to form a consistent development environment. Specifically, the software OPTIMUS provides the approach to integrate the CAD/CAE software such as CATIA and ANSYS and form a design/analysis workflow for the vacuum vessel module. This design/analysis workflow could automate the process of modeling and finite element (FE) analysis for vacuum vessel. Functions such as sensitivity analysis and optimization of geometric parameters have been provided based on the design/analysis workflow. In addition, data from the model and FE analysis could be easily exchanged among different modules by providing a unifying data structure to maintain the consistency of the global design. This paper describes the strategy and methodology of the workflow in the vacuum vessel module. An example is given as a test of the workflow and functions of the vacuum vessel module. The results indicate that the module is a feasible framework for future application.

Abstract:
Laser soldering has been gradually applied to the soldering of electronic components due to the rapid development of microelectronics. However, it is inefficient to use a mechanical shaft to move a laser beam. Here, a laser soldering system is constructed using galvanometer scanning, and an intelligent algorithm is also introduced to optimize the soldering path. Firstly, a laser soldering system for scanning of galvanometers is established, and the functions of visual monitoring, motion planning and parameter integration are presented. Secondly, the position of the laser beam and the corresponding soldering spot are determined, and the coordinate information is provided to plan a route by camera calibration and coordinate system transformation. Finally, the problem of path planning in this system is decomposed into the generation of the soldering point full coverage processing frame, and the route optimization of processing platform and laser beam motion. Furthermore, an improved clustering algorithm, based on the characteristics of system structure, and a hybrid optimization algorithm are designed to deal with the generation of the soldering point full coverage processing frame, the route optimization of processing platform and laser beam motion. In addition, the simulations and experiments are verified by test board. These findings shown that the established system and designed optimization algorithm can promote the efficiency of laser soldering.

Abstract:
Abstract BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology has developed rapidly in many fields of civil engineering. However, in pit engineering, the method of automatically generating FE models by BIM models is not as mature as that in tunnel engineering. There are still some problems in it, such as the lack of stratum data and construction data, the limit of geometric models, and the weak of the integration of numerical results with BIM platform. To solve these problems, this paper presents a TIM (Tunnel Information Modeling)-based on digital solution, which is more specific to underground engineering. Firstly, a normalized numerical pit model is built. TIM models, stratum data and construction data, all these required by numerical model are integrated in iS3 platform. Then a program is developed to obtain the data that has been supplemented or modified from the databases and automatically draw the profiles, then generate the input files to automatic calculation. The integrated TIM/FEM software based on iS3 platform is developed to import the result files to finish the post-processing and schemes assessment and optimization. This method is successfully applied in the pit project of Haikou Wenmingdong Tunnel, shortens the modeling time, and improves the modeling quality and the integration level of TIM/FEM.

Abstract:
In order to solve the problem of cross-border e-commerce warehouses as transit stations and direct selling platforms, the location of a cross-border e-commerce overseas warehouse is deeply studied on the basis of particle swarm optimization. Firstly, it studies the principle of algorithm optimization and algorithm method of particle swarm optimization. Among them, the self-built overseas warehouse mode has high requirements on the construction threshold, which is suitable for large cross-border e-commerce enterprises. The overseas warehouse model is built by a professional third party, which is economical and flexible, so it is suitable for mass cross-border e-commerce enterprises. Another overseas warehouse model is to build a cross-border logistics one-stop service platform with overseas warehouse as the core for all kinds of cross-border e-commerce enterprises, which is the development direction of overseas warehouse in the future. However, due to the immature construction conditions and too strong resource integration, this model is still in the stage of research, exploration, and attempt. However, choosing the location of an overseas warehouse and how to use the particle swarm optimization algorithm in the overseas warehouse development experiment remain problems to be solved. After experiments and research, the particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to solve the problem in the context of cross-border e-commerce, which verifies the feasibility of the model, so as to give a specific scheme for the location of overseas hub warehouses and overseas warehouses.

Abstract:
Purpose The need to flexibly react to changing demands and to cost-efficiently manage customized production even for lot size of one requires a dynamic and holistic integration of service-based processes within and across enterprises of the value chain. In this context, this paper aims at presenting ODERU, the authors’ novel pragmatic approach for automatically implementing service-based manufacturing processes at design and runtime within a cloud-based elastic manufacturing platform. Design/methodology/approach ODERU relies on a set of semantic annotations of business process models encoded into an extension of the business process model and notation (BPMN) 2.0 standard. Leveraging the paradigms of semantic SOA and XaaS, ODERU integrates pattern-based semantic composition of process service plans with QoS-based optimization based on multi-objective constraint optimization problem solving. Findings The successful validation of ODERU in two industrial use cases for maintenance process optimization and automotive production in the European project CREMA revealed its usefulness for service-based process optimization in general and for significant cost reductions in maintenance in particular. Originality/value ODERU provides a pragmatic and flexible solution to optimal service composition with the following three main advantages: full integration of semantic service selection and composition with QoS-based optimization; executability of the generated optimal process service plans by an execution environment as they include service assignments, data flow (variable bindings) and optimal variable assignments; and support of fast replanning in a single model and plan.

Abstract:
Construction scheduling, in practice, commonly relies on the usage of commercial project management tools (PMT) without specific optimization features. To obtain optimal schedules, planners often need to develop separate optimization models with special tools, which, however, demand further processing and editing of optimization results by PMT into forms expected for project management. In this regard, separation of optimization and PMT also requires considerable additional work for complete and harmonized updating of schedules during construction execution. Mentioned drawbacks and lack of available time may take to deficient construction scheduling during the implementation phase resulting in poor or even insufficient realization of project goals. Therefore, this paper presents an achievements survey on the integration of optimization and PMT that allow sustainable construction scheduling, particularly in terms of continuous optimal time and resource allocation throughout the project life cycle. Such work has not yet been comprehensively done up to now and the present contribution intends to fill a literature gap in the aforesaid area. Following a brief introduction, the optimization platform for construction scheduling is given in the article. Focusing on construction scheduling, an in-depth achievements survey on the integration of heuristics methods, mathematical programming and special solving methods with conventional PMT as well as optimization-based building information modeling (BIM) tools is then performed and findings are reported. The paper ends with conclusions and recommendations for further research.

Abstract:
Based on information asymmetry theory, principal-agent theory, and risk management theory, this paper analyzes the mechanism of the impact of big data on financial decision-making, analyzing four dimensions: how big data enhances the information base for forecasting, how big data improves the relevance of decision-making, how big data builds new competitive advantages, and how big data promotes dynamic decision-making. Secondly, through the analysis of specific implementation cases of enterprise big data in financial decision-making, we focus on the real problems faced in management and the effect of solving problems through big data platform. The enterprise realizing the integration of business and finance not only can better lead business expansion, but also can improve the management level within the enterprise, which is conducive to the improvement of core competitiveness. The integration of industry and finance is essentially achieved through the application of various financial management modules to the business operations of enterprises, including budget management, capital management, fixed asset management, and financial accounting. If we want to implement the whole process of financial integration, it is impossible to achieve this manually, and we must first build a powerful information system as a guarantee. Under the guidance of theories of information asymmetry, stakeholders, and management information systems, Internet finance enterprises should build their own integrated business finance system based on the demand for business finance integration in the Internet finance industry, to enhance the matching of business finance data of Internet finance enterprises, improve the efficiency of enterprise management, and realize business finance integration. Finally, through the research of this paper, we hope to provide reference for other similar enterprises to apply big data for financial decision-making. Through the application of big data, higher economic benefits are achieved in procurement management, production control, capital budget, and investment decision compared with the previous ones. It is concluded that in the era of big data, massive data can be used to serve enterprise decision-making in depth, which can break the business and financial barriers, improve the efficiency and quality of decision-making, optimize the organizational structure and personnel, and enhance the prediction and early warning capability. The application of big data tools has become the key to assisting financial decision-making and enhancing enterprise value.

Abstract:
Integration of functional nanomaterials with optical micro/nanofibers (OMNFs) can bring about novel optical properties and provide a versatile platform for various sensing applications. OMNFs as the key element, however, have seldom been investigated. Here, we focus on the optimization of fiber diameter by taking micro/nanofiber-based localized surface plasmon resonance sensors as a model. We systematically study the dependence of fiber diameter on the sensing performance of such sensors. Both theoretical and experimental results show that, by reducing fiber diameter, the refractive index sensitivity can be significantly increased. Then, we demonstrate the biosensing capability of the optimized sensor for streptavidin detection and achieve a detection limit of 1 pg/mL. Furthermore, the proposed theoretical model is applicable to other nanomaterials and OMNF-based sensing schemes for performance optimization.

Abstract:
Technology scaling dramatically increases transistor integration capacity, enabling more and more cores to be integrated into a single chip. Parameter variability, however, leads to performance asymmetry among the cores, degrading the energy efficiency of the system. Recently, voltage/frequency island (VFI) based designs are widely exploited on a multi-core platform for system energy optimization under variations. In this paper, a post-silicon energy optimization scheme is proposed targeting VFI-based 3-D multi-core SoCs. Design constraints on VFI, difference of communication energies between horizontal and vertical directions and unique thermal feature of the 3-D chip are totally considered. An energy efficient task mapping and scheduling algorithm is proposed, which seamlessly combines with dynamic voltage/frequency scaling to minimize the system energy under deadline and thermal constraints. Experimental results demonstrate that the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract:
AbstractOptimized lightweight manufacturing of parts is crucial for automotive and aeronautical industries in order to stay competitive and to reduce costs and fuel consumption. Hence, aluminum becomes an unquestionable material choice regarding these challenges. Nevertheless, using only virgin aluminum is not satisfactory because its extraction requires high use of energy and effort, and its manufacturing has high environmental impact. For these reasons, the use of recycled aluminum alloys is recommended considering their properties meet the expected technical and environmental added values. This requires complete reengineering of the classical life cycle of aluminum-based products and the collaboration practices in the global supply chain. The results from several interdependent disciplines all need to be taken into account for a global product/process optimization. Toward achieving this, a method for sustainability assessment integration into product life cycle management and a platform for life cycle simulation integrating environmental concerns are proposed in this paper. The platform may be used as a decision support system in the early product design phase by simulating the life cycle of a product (from material selection to production and recycling phases) and calculating its impact on the environment.

Abstract:
In this paper, a range-based cooperative localization method is proposed for multiple platforms of various structures. The localization system of an independent platform might degrade or fail due to various reasons such as GPS signal-loss, inertial measurement unit (IMU) accumulative errors, or emergency reboot. It is a promising approach to solve this problem by using information from neighboring platforms, thus forming a cooperative localization network that can improve the navigational robustness of each platform. Typical ranging-based ultra-wideband (UWB) cooperative localization systems require at least three auxiliary nodes to estimate the pose of the target node, which is often hard to meet especially in outdoor environment. In this work, we propose a novel IMU/UWB-based cooperative localization solution, which requires a minimum number of auxiliary nodes that is down to 1. An Adaptive Ant Colony Optimization Particle Filter (AACOPF) algorithm is customized to integrate the dead reckoning (DR) system and auxiliary nodes information with no prior information required, resulting in accurate pose estimation, while to our knowledge the azimuth have not been estimated in cooperative localization for the insufficient observation of the system. We have given the condition when azimuth and localization are solvable by analysis and by experiment. The feasibility of the proposed approach is evaluated through two filed experiments: car-to-trolley and car-to-pedestrian cooperative localization. The comparison results also demonstrate that ACOPF-based integration is better than other filter-based methods such as Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and traditional Particle Filter (PF).

Abstract:
This paper presents a composite parameter optimization method based on the chaos particle swarm optimization and the back propagation algorithms for a fuzzy neural network/proportion integration differentiation compound controller, which is applied for an aerial inertially stabilized platform for aerial remote sensing applications. Firstly, a compound controller combining both the adaptive fuzzy neural network and traditional PID control methods is developed to deal with the contradiction between the control precision and robustness due to disturbances. Then, on the basis of both the chaos particle swarm optimization and the back propagation compound algorithms, the parameters of the fuzzy neural network/PID compound controller are optimized offline and fine-tuned online, respectively. In this way, the compound controller can achieve good adaptive convergence so as to get high stabilization precision under the multisource dynamic disturbance environment. To verify the method, the simulations are carried out. The results show that the composite parameter optimization method can effectively enhance the convergence of the controller, by which the stabilization precision and disturbance rejection capability of the proposed fuzzy neural network/PID compound controller are improved obviously.

Abstract:
The application of patient-derived three-dimensional culture systems as disease-specific drug sensitivity models has enormous potential to connect compound screening and clinical trials. However, the implementation of complex cell-based assay systems in drug discovery requires reliable and robust screening platforms. Here we describe the establishment of an automated platform in 384-well format for three-dimensional organoid cultures derived from colon cancer patients. Single cells were embedded in an extracellular matrix by an automated workflow and subsequently self-organized into organoid structures within 4 days of culture before being exposed to compound treatment. We performed validation of assay robustness and reproducibility via plate uniformity and replicate-experiment studies. After assay optimization, the patient-derived organoid platform passed all relevant validation criteria. In addition, we introduced a streamlined plate uniformity study to evaluate patient-derived colon cancer samples from different donors. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of using patient-derived tumor samples for high-throughput assays and their integration as disease-specific models in drug discovery.

OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Our goal is to develop a silk fibroin scaffold-based neural tissue construct and characterize it in a rat model of cortical injury. We aim to optimize the construct for transplantation, test pharmacologic interventions that may enhance its survival, and evaluate its integration with the host brain. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: To optimize cell density and health, silk fibroin scaffolds varying in porosity and stiffness were seeded with E18 GFP+ rat cortical neurons and imaged at DIV 5. Different seeding methods and loads were similarly tested. Constructs, loaded with an inhibitor of apoptosis (ROCK inhibitor Y-27632) or necroptosis (necrostatin-1) in a fibrin hydrogel, were transplanted into aspiration lesions created in the primary motor cortex of Sprague-Dawley rats, and graft survival was compared to negative control at 2 weeks. Lastly, constructs were transplanted and evaluated via immunohistochemistry at 1, 2, and 4-month time points for survival, differentiation, inflammation, and anatomic integration. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: Scaffolds with smaller pore sizes retained more cells after seeding. Softer scaffolds, which enhance hemostasis at transplantation, did not compromise cell health on live/dead assay. We anticipate that seeding concentrated cell suspensions onto multiple surfaces of the construct will produce the most evenly seeded and cell-dense constructs. Based on a prior pilot study, we anticipate that necrostatin-1 will significantly improve intermediate-term construct survival. We have observed up to 15% cell survival at 1 month with retained neuronal identity and abundant axonal projections into the brain despite evidence of persistent inflammation; we anticipate similar outcomes at later time points. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: Our construct, due to its exceptional longevity in vitro, manipulability, and modularity, is an attractive platform for neural tissue engineering. In the present work, we optimize and validate this technology for transplantation with the goal of addressing the morbidity burden of cortical injury.

In addition, it facilitates the performance optimization of the boost converter. This system can be established with low computing hardware to simulates the control behavior and data-driven method of IoT-based, due to the unreliability initiated from the integration of IoT technology and power electronic converters. In response to these challenges, the current paper addresses a scientific approach using small signal analysis of dc-dc boost converter (non-Ideal) with closed loop control to analyze the small deviations or abnormalities in transient region and the steady-state operating point. Complete state-space analysis is done to obtain output voltage using pulse width modulation techniques for boosting the voltage of the input voltage to a higher level by momentarily storing and release the energy in the conductor. The model of the converter is designed and simulated using voltage mode controlling method. Digital implementation based on Arduino platform was implemented to compensate perturbations of sudden load variation either on voltage or current loads. A Simulation study is conducted to validate the result of the step-up dc-dc converter using MATLAB.

Abstract:
The deployment of any UAV application in precision agriculture involves the development of several tasks, such as path planning and route optimization, images acquisition, handling emergencies, and mission validation, to cite a few. UAVs applications are also subject to common constraints, such as weather conditions, zonal restrictions, and so forth. The development of such applications requires the advanced software integration of different utilities, and this situation may frighten and dissuade undertaking projects in the field of precision agriculture. This paper proposes the development of a Web and MATLAB-based application that integrates several services in the same environment. The first group of services deals with UAV mission creation and management. It provides several pieces of flight conditions information, such as weather conditions, the KP index, air navigation maps, or aeronautical information services including notices to Airmen (NOTAM). The second group deals with route planning and converts selected field areas on the map to an UAV optimized route, handling sub-routes for long journeys. The third group deals with multispectral image processing and vegetation indexes calculation and visualizations. From a software development point of view, the app integrates several monolithic and independent programs around the MATLAB Runtime package with an automated and transparent data flow. Its main feature consists in designing a plethora of executable MATLAB programs, especially for the route planning and optimization of UAVs, images processing and vegetation indexes calculations, and running them remotely.
