Abstract:
This thesis focuses on optimization and increasing the efficiency of high-power DC/DC switching converters with transformer (switching power supplies). The work focuses mainly on using converters with flyback topology for high power, even though it is a common belief that this type of converter is not suitable for high power. This topology was selected because of potentially better achievable parameters, especially the efficiency, in comparison to a commonly used forward converter – in a flyback converter, losses are produced only in one magnetic component (transformer) in contrast to two components (transformer and inductor) in the forward converter. Compared to resonant and quasi-resonant converters, the flyback converter is easily controllable in the whole output voltage and current range. To make the flyback converter favorable for a high-power use, some innovative circuit modifications were made and modern semiconductor and passive components were used. Theoretical part of the work deals with efficiency optimization of the flyback converter, based on analytical solution. Operating parameters of the converter – switching frequency and parameters of the transformer (flux density and numbers of turns) are commonly only guessed or chosen from experience. The objective of this part is a mathematically exact determination of these parameters to achieve lowest total losses of the converter for given input parameters. In a certain case, it was possible to obtain the final solution analytically, in other cases the final solution step had to be done with a help of software. A prototype of a 12-kW switching power supply with a flyback converter was constructed to validate the proposed solutions and methods. The power supply fits into a space of only 33x33x16 cm. Modern semiconductors based on the silicon-carbide (SiC) technology (MOS-FET transistors and diodes) were used. After bringing the converter to a full-power operation, an efficiency of 96.8 % of the DC/DC converter was measured. High efficiency was obtained for a wide range of output parameters. A certain comparison with a forward converter with the same output parameters is done in the work. Not only from an efficiency point of view, the flyback converter seems very perspective.

Abstract:
The dissertation thesis deal with the design and the optimization of the permanent magnet synchronous machine (SMPM) based on the artificial intelligence. The main target is to apply potential optimization methods on the design procedure of the machine and evaluate the effectiveness of optimization and the optimization usefulness. In general, the optimization of the material properties (NdFeB or SmCo), the efficiency maximization with given nominal input parameters, the cogging torque elimination are proposed. Moreover, the magnet shape optimization, shape of the air gap and the shape of slots were also performed. The well known Genetic algorithm and Self-Organizing migrating algorithm produced in Czech were presented and applied on the particular optimization issues. The basic principles (iterations) and definitions (penalty function and cost function) of proposed algorithms are demonstrated on the examples. The results of the vibration generator optimization (VG) with given power 7mW (0.1g acceleration) and the results of the SMPM 1,1kW (6 krpm) optimization are practically evaluated in the collaboration with industry. Proposed methods are useful for the optimization of PM machines and they are further theoretically applied on the low speed machine (10 krpm) optimization and high speed machine (120 krpm) optimization.

Abstract:
Small plot field experiment carried out in 2015 on Demonstration and experimental field of Czech University of Life Science in Prague. Objective of the experiment was get new knowledge of efficiency and selectivity of selected herbicides in kohlrabi. Main objective of the experiment was described of influence of irrigation and use of adjuvant on efficiency and selectivity of herbicides. The kohlrabi was growed from transplant. Herbicides were applicated five days after transplanting. Herbicides were applicated in few variant: separately, with adjuvant, two level of irrigation (basic irrigation 15 mm / intensive irrigation 65 mm). During growing season rained 70 mm. Efficiency and selectivity of herbicides was assessed by estimation method using a percentage scale from 0 to 100 %. Efficiency of herbicides was assessed on weeds: Thlaspi arvense, Chenopodium album and Solanum nigrum. Next objectives were: yield of above ground biomass and market tubers, weight of roots, contain of vitamin C, glucosinolates and herbicide residues in tuber. Efficiency of herbicide Stomp 400 SC was significantly higher than efficacy of Butisan 400 SC on Thlaspi arvense and Chenopodium album. Intensive irrigation caused higher efficiency. On the other side tank mix of herbicides and combination herbicides with adjuvant caused insignificantly higher efficiency. Butisan 400 SC had the highest effectivity on Solanum nigrum compared to efficacy of herbicide, Stomp 400, but efficiency efficacy of herbicide Stomp 400 SC was sufficient. Stomp 400 SC demaged kohlrabi more than Butisan 400 SC, especially on plots with intensive irrigation. Herbicide Stomp 400 SC had negative influence on roots. On plots treated by herbicide Stomp 400 SC was showed lower weight of roots about 56 % compared to hand-weeding plots. Kohlrabi on plots treated Stomp 400 SC with intensive irrigation produced not market weight of tuber (less than 200 g/plant) in harvest time. From these reason, the harvest time must have been put off one week. Residues of metazachlor (Butisan 400 SC) were not detected in tuber. Residue of pendimethalin (Stomp 400 SC) was found on every plots treated by herbicide Stomp 400 SC. Found concentration of pendimethalin was not higher than maximal residue limit (0,05 mg/kg). The highest concentration of vitamin C and glucosinolates was found in tuber damaged by tank mix combination of Butisan 400 SC + Stomp 400 SC. On the other side the lowest concentration of vitamin C and glucosinolates was found in tuber from hand weeding plots, but differences among treatments were not significantly.

This master thesis deals with optimization of the shape of the stator and rotor slots of induction motor with focusing on increasing efficiency. The theoretical part introduces the principles of optimization algorithms. Another part is devoted to design the shape of slots and its influence on the shape of slots on machine. On the models of motor was conducted the optimized shape of slots by using a genetic algorithm. Firstly, it was performed by using the analytical calculation in the RMxprt program, then by using the finite element method on two different models, whose difference simulates the influence of the production technology on the efficiency of the motor. Laboratory measurement was made on a real machine as well. The results of the measurement, calculations and optimizations are compared in the work.

Abstract:
This master’s thesis first deals with the theory concerning induction motor. It briefly desbribes the construction of three-phase induction motors, the generation of tractive force, power flow with loss distribution and also torque characteristic. In the next part an analytical calculation of the parameters of equivalent circuit for an existing induction motor with known dimensions is performed. After the calculation it is possible to find out the rated parameters of the motor, which makes it possible to further compare results with the values obtained by other methods. The next step was to create a model of the motor in RMxprt program, which is later also translated to ANSYS Maxwell 2D model. Simulations were carried out in both interfaces. As the next step the results obtained by the three methods are compared with measured values and also evaluated. The final part of the thesis focuses on the optimization of the magnetic circuit for higher frequencies. Efficiency of the modified induction motor is examined for higher frequencies using RMxprt Optimetrics and this procedure is performed for both default and alternative electrical steel materials.

Abstract:
Abstract My thesis examines the measurement optimalization when the semiconductor HPGe detectors with a low background and a high relative efficiency are used for achieving low values of MDA (minimum detectable activity). I conducted my research in the Department of Spectrometry of SÚRO (National Radiation Protection Institute) in Prague. In this laboratory the standard geometries of detectors with lower efficiency are used. The aim of this thesis is to offer a proposal of new geometry, sizes and shapes of measurement cells which will better correspond with the demand for higher efficiency of updated detectors. The assignment was to find the best mathematical function to descibe the correlation between efficiency and the direction of the radiation point source towards the detector. This function is derived from experimentally obtained data. To conduct measurements, three kinds of detectors with high relative efficiency used for activity measurements at different geometries were selected. As the source of gamma radiation, the point sources with energies of 46 keV, 661 keV, 1332 keV in different distances and positions were used. The function was applied separatelly to each of the three detectors and to the areas above the detector and sidewards of the detector. The objective of the research was to project new measurement geometries or to optimalize the current ones which could be used also in other detectors with high efficiency. After integrating the function in the cylindrical area above the detector and the annular area sidewards of the detector, areas contributing substantially to the overall efficiency were determined. These areas may be considered to be the optimal sizes for new geometries in given positions. After combining all the optimal areas above the detector, sidewards of the detector and for selected energies and the detector, optimal sizes of a new geometry were found. The function can be used both in the front part and the side part of the detector but its validity is limited. The value of MDA for the particular geometry is in indirect proportion to the efficiency square root and thus this new geometry should lead to minimum values of MDA.
