Abstract:
The article considers the notional nature and peculiarities of genus-species relations between the phenomena of opposition and oppositivity ; it also deals with the lexical-and-grammatica ways of expressing the latter in an English literary text. The study establishes that, besides the logical component, an opposition also expresses a subjective one, manifesting a communicants unique view on the communicative situation and thus displaying semantics of oppositivity. Unlike spatial, logical and grammatical oppositions, generally characterized by a symmetrical structure, the subjective (oppositive) opposition is asymmetrical. It is revealed that due to the structural asymmetry this kind of opposition is marked by greater semantic potential compared to logical and grammatical oppositions. It is proved that the complication of subjective oppositions with antonymous pairs, lexical and syntactical repetitions, antithetic units, oxymorons etc. extends the scope of meanings implied by them; and the use of subjective (oppositive) oppositions in a literary text themselves becomes an effective tool of contrast-building both on the lexical-grammatical and textual levels.

Abstract:
Abstract The aim of this study is to describe the different political and social conditions of opposition activity in Hungary and Poland between 1956 and 1989, and to map the relations between the various opposition groups. It starts from the premise that after 1956 radically different political, economic, and social conditions developed in the two countries. While in Poland the situation was relatively favorable for opposition activity, in Hungary the possibilities were limited; and only in the late 1970s, and especially after the birth of the Polish Solidarity movement, did the scope for action increase. In this article, I argue that the political, ideological, and generational determinants of Hungarian opposition groups in Hungarian-Polish opposition relations have been decisive in their choice of Polish partners. Hungarian opposition groups contacted Polish groups whose worldview corresponded to their own as this aspect was more important to them than the oppositional attitude itself. The article points out that the East-Central European opposition movement was a transnational phenomenon—not only because the task of all oppositions was to formulate and represent responses and reactions to the socialist system but also because they converged and interacted through their internal relations, channels, and mutual interactions.

Abstract:
A folk-tale narrative with its unique composition and deep-laid semantics is an important phenomenon of modern life. It supplements a rational worldview and preserves its priorities, despite the changes that take place in the technical, informational, communicational and other areas of human activity. The folk-tale model of the world is a binary entity characterized by interconnected oppositions. For this reason the structure of the folk-tale and its holistic perception is largely determined by the category of opposition. The article describes a model for representing the category of opposition in Celtic folklore. The author identifies general and specific types of oppositions and describes the language means expressing them. The proposed methodology for the analysis of the language means makes it possible to go beyond the traditional structural description. It gives an insight into a linguistic opposition as a contextually conditioned or a potential phenomenon. Moreover, the oppositional method can be extrapolated to the study of texts which belong to other genres of literature. Such research contributes to the understanding of British ethnic mentality. Establishing what is seen as the opposite in the texts of traditional folk culture helps to identify cultural meanings in language units.

Abstract:
This article analyses the problem of anti-systemic opposition’s existence in a totalitarian state. Different concepts concerning the genesis of totalitarianism as well as the features of this system were presented in the paper. Then, the idea of the opposition in a totalitarian state was defined. At the same time, it was emphasized that defining the oppositional quality in a democratic and totalitarian state is completely disparate. Next, an analysis of anti-systemic opposition’s occurrence in the states such as the Republic of Cuba and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was made. This analysis helped to answer the question concerning the conditions which must exist in a totalitarian state so that the anti-systemic opposition could appear.

Abstract:
Abstract Bergson imputes the generation of false problems in philosophy to the idea of nothingness and negative concepts. Yet, all his books are fraught with oppositional thinking, such as the oppositions between space and time, quantity and quality, life and matter. Understandably, this apparent discrepancy has led a philosopher like Merleau-Ponty to speak of inconsistency, while Jankélévitch and others counter the charge of inconsistency by arguing that Bergsonism embraces operational opposition as opposed to substantial opposition. This article disagrees with both interpretations and proposes a solution based on the need to distinguish between the level of intuitive vision of the unity of nature and the level of representative analysis whose defining feature is that it operates by means of opposing concepts. The progression from representation to intuition transcends opposition and unites life and matter in the vision of a self-surpassing effort or élan.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to identify similarities and differences in the implementation of the category of opposition in folk and literary fairy-tale texts. The article compares two folk and three literary versions of the fairy tale, united by plot and compositional similarities. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time a comparative study of the corpus of oppositions in fairy-tale texts of different genesis is being conducted. The category of opposition is considered as a universal linguistic category that ensures the coherence and consistency of a fairy tale narrative. It is confirmed that antonymous units are represented at different levels of the language system and are not limited to conventional oppositions, forming contextual and potentially realizable oppositions. Generalized generic and particular category oppositions are identified, which are realized at different levels of language and located within a dicteme or hyperdicteme. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the linguistic implementation of oppositions and their contextual location are largely determined by the authorship of the text. Folk tales are characterized by common lexical, grammatical and syntactic oppositions located within one or more dictums, whereas the authors of literary versions widely use contextual and potential oppositions, preferring the contact arrangement of oppositional units.

Abstract:
The opposition between literary monuments is a phenomenon that has afflicted the world of literature since historical times, and perhaps between different nations, and Arabs are fond of writing oppositions, matching, dividing poems, dividing them, and simulating them. Poets throughout the ages have sought to oppose the effects of their well-known counterparts, admiring them or emphasizing their superiority over them. Among these oppositions, which received great attention, were the opposition of the Lamiyyat, as many poets opposed it, including the opposition of al-Tughrafi in his poem Lamiyat al-Ajam, the poem of the Lamiyat of the Arabs by al-Shanfriuth, the opposition of Nir al-Tabrizi, the poem of Lamiyat al-Ajam in his poem marked Lamiyat al-Turk.

The intention of this creative project is to explore the ideas of individuality and community through ceramic sculpture. The ultimate goal is to allow the viewers to draw their own conclusions about the suggested meaning, instead of forcing a direct reference. To achieve this, form, surface, texture, and grouping of individual pieces was utilized. Inspiration was drawn from the artworks of Barbara Hepworth, Michele Oka Doner, Yoonchung Kim, and from the multiple appendages of the sea anemone. The artworks were hand-built using high temperature clays that were fired in reduction, soda, and wood kilns. Plaster molds were used to maintain the identical forms, allowing the viewer to focus on textural variation.

The city is no more, only an endless urban corridor remains. As our cities have grown outwards over the past 100 years civic identity has been destroyed and the public realm has been lost. Inexpensive land values, the widespread adoption of the internal combustion automobile, government subsidies and propaganda have resulted in a homogenized and privatized city with no identifiable center or clearly defined boundaries. How might one establish identifiable civic landmarks in these conditions? How could a novel technology, such as the electric vehicle be employed to bring about an alternative urban reality? To address these questions this project interrogates the typological concepts of the Urban Core and the Megaform. Through historical and typological research this thesis establishes a lineage of both of these concepts and then speculates about the ability of these models to influence the city. This thesis proposes 2 novel models an Urban Core type and a Megaformal Urban Wall Building type. The Urban Wall Building typology creates an interiorized urban realm where a linear public promenade facilitates a new urban landscape that is best described by its radicalized sectional experience. This type is a piece of the larger urban core typology that strategically clips out a piece the urban fabric to define a space of opposition, civitas and ultimately, Metropolitan Urbanity. Through the design of enclosure types, overpass infrastructures and a novel public terrain, this project questions the potentialities for an architecture and urbanism of the electric vehicle.
(cont.) In the following pages you will find a proposal that addresses the chaos of the city through the projection of the Megaform into today's cityscape. Through the development of the Megaform as a recognizable entity this thesis speculates about the future of the city and the potential of Architecture to redefine it.

Philippon, Pascal. "Le contrat de non-opposition." Montpellier 1, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1996MON10049.

Full text
Abstract:
This subject covers two different kinds of contracts. On the one hand, we have a non-assertion patent right which is not a licence in the juridical sense, but which is quite similar. On the other hand, we have an agreement to avoid confusion between trade marks. In each case, the agreement must be conform to the law of contract. If a delimitation agreement is more restrictive than necessary, so as to infrige article 85, it will not merit the exemption of article 85. 3. An agreement not to use trademarks may, in principle, fall within article 85. 1

Lundell, Emelie. "An arena for effective opposition? : A systematic investigation into political opposition in the European Parliament." Thesis, Uppsala universitet, Statsvetenskapliga institutionen, 2021. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:uu:diva-432291.

Full text
Abstract:
The European Union is suffering from a legitimacy crisis, which thus far has culminated with Great Britain’s decision to exit the union. According to the ‘opposition deficit thesis’, this is caused as there is no arena in which effective opposition can be voiced in the European Union, which forces EU citizens to organise their opposition outside the political system, and often against it. However, as no systemic analysis has been conducted on the opposition deficit in the EU’s democratic centre, no convincing conclusions has been made. Thus, the purpose of this thesis is to systemically test the opposition deficit thesis, and to add to the current lack of research on the topic. The centre for any democratic legitimacy is the political system’s elected representatives in parliament, in which any opposition deficit would strongly indicate a democratic deficit. Therefore, I ask: is the European Parliament an arena for effective opposition? To test the opposition deficit systematically and empirically, data from 20 plenary debates between the years 2005-2007 in the European Parliament were gathered. Through simple statistical analysis, we conclude that most statements are oppositional (55 percent) and that there is no oppositional deficit. While most opposition is effective and thus has real effect in the policy-making process, the definition and operationalisation provided within the opposition deficit thesis must be refuted due to theoretical inconsistencies. Furthermore, oppositional behaviour at party- and individual level was also investigated, showing that Eurosceptic party groups are more oppositional than mainstream party groups and through their opposition minimise the European Union’s democratic deficit when voiced within the system. Also, we find that there is no significant relationship between gender and political opposition, contrary to past assumptions. Therefore, it is concluded that there is no oppositional deficit in the European Parliament, and possibly no such deficit in the European Union. So, while the European Union it is suffering a legitimacy crisis which may be caused by a democracy deficit, it is not correlated to political opposition as described by the opposition deficit thesis.
