Abstract:
The CATH database of protein domain structures classifies structures according to their (C)lass, (A)rchitecture, (T)opology or fold and (H)omologous family (http://www.biochem.ucl.ac.uk/bsm/cath). Although the protocol used is mostly automatic, manual inspection is used to check assignments at some critical stages, such as the detection of very distantly related homologues and anologues and the assignment of novel architectures. Described in this article is a recently established facility to search the database with the coordinates of a newly determined structure. The CATH server first locates domain boundaries and then uses automatic sequence and structure comparison methods to assign this new structure to one or more of the domain families within CATH. Diagnostic reports are generated, together with multiple structural alignments for close relatives. The Server can be accessed over the World Wide Web (WWW) and mirror sites are planned to improve access.

Abstract:
The CATH database of protein structures contains ∼ 18000 domains organized according to their (C)lass, (A)rchitecture, (T)opology and (H)omologous superfamily [1]. Relationships between evolutionary related structures (homologues) within the database have been used to test the sensitivity of various sequence search methods in order to identify relatives in Genbank and other sequence databases [2]. Subsequent application of the most sensitive and efficient algorithms, gapped blast and the profile based method, Position Specific Iterated Basic Local Alignment Tool (PSI-BLAST) [3], could be used to assign structural data to between 22 and 36% of microbial genomes in order to improve functional annotation and enhance understanding of biological mechanism. However, on a cautionary note, an analysis of functional conservation within fold groups and homologous superfamilies in the CATH database, revealed that whilst function was conserved in nearly 55% of enzyme families, function had diverged considerably, in some highly populated families. In these families, functional properties should be inherited far more cautiously and the probable effects of substitutions in key functional residues carefully assessed.

Abstract:
Programmable Network like SDN allows administrators to program network nfrastructure according to service demand and custom-defined policies. Network olicies are interpreted by the centralized controller to define actions and rules to rocess the network traffic on devices that belong to a single domain. However, actual etworks are multi-domain where several domains are interconnected. Then, because DN controllers in a domain cannot define nor monitor policies in other domains, etwork administrators cannot ensure that their own policies, origin policies are being nforced by the domains not directly managed by them (i.e. foreign domains). e present AudiT, a multi-domain SDN policy verifier that identifies whether an rigin policy is enforced by foreign domains. AudiT comprises (1) model for network opology, policies, and flows, (2) an Audit protocol to gather information about the ctions performed by network devices to carry the flows of interest, and (3) a validation ngine that takes that information and detects security policy violations, and (4) an extension to the OpenFlow protocol to enable external auditing. This paper resents our approach and illustrates its application using an example considering ultiple SDN networks.

Abstract: The use of technology in education is believed to enhance students’ learning experience. Technology such as Augmented Reality (AR) is increasingly used in the classroom through the use of gamification. This study aims to examine students' experience in using a board game with web-based Augmented Reality named REV-OPOLY in their learning. REV-OPOLY’s theme is on the emerging technology revolution concepts where in this board game, players can buy, rent and sell technologies through question cards to gain the opportunity to own the technology. AR is implemented into the game as the play pieces and part of the play cards. The respondents are the undergraduate students enrolled in Computer Application in Management course in Universiti Utara Malaysia. In this qualitative study, respondents will be tested through pre-test and post-test to compare the effectiveness and efficacy of REV-OPOLY compared to traditional methods of self-revision. The findings showed that 98.8% of the respondents are interest-ed in using REV-OPOLY in learning and 86.1% of them are satisfied with the structure of the game, mainly the multiplayer aspects of it (95.3%) which enforce interaction and discussion among the players (89.5%) and 93.0% agreed that they can learn better through the game as an informal learning medium. In this study, REV-OPOLY has shown to have received positive feedback from the respondents. Further research is required to assess the students’ learning outcomes and experience of REV-OPOLY. Abstract:
This article presents the Opole Diocesan Court in the years 1951–2018 and Opole canonists in the years 1945–2018. It discusses the functions, structure, history and profiles of judicial vicars of the court, and gives summary information focusing on Opole canonists. Members of the Opole Diocesan Court are compared with Opole canonists because the both groups have often created or co-created the both of these realities. The article does not present any statistical information or names of trials taking place before the Opole Diocesan Court during the analyzed period, or possible trial costs. Furthermore, it does not analyze court judgements or individual reasons for declaring the nullity of a marriage solemnized at the Roman Catholic church. While determining the composition of the court is relatively easy, the concept of canon law study of Opole is a more complicated matter. A person related to the Opole Diocese area by birth, upbringing, residence or job is recognized by the author as an Opole canonist. However, the above-listed factors are not always cumulative. In many cases, someone who is considered to be an Opole canonist may also be identified as belonging to other scientific circles. In the past few decades, the Opole canonist community has been composed of graduates of numerous Polish and foreign academic centers, and, afterwards, such people dealt with various research areas. Their publications, professional, social and organizational activities, and their membership of different associations are the evidence of proper creativity. Even if the author does not discuss detailed scientific achievements of Opole canonists, the above summary presentation shows that these achievements are rather extensive.

Augmented Reality (AR) in the classroom is becoming a new trend, which incorporates technology in the teaching of topics in a particular course. An instance of the technology used in the classroom is an AR board game which is designed to aid in learning through games. This study is a continuation of a preliminary work, which will concentrate in the designing, developing, and testing phases of REV-OPOLY, a board game with AR intervention in the area of the emerging technology revolution. This study employs a quantitative method of quasi-experimental design using pre-test and post-test, and test assessment. It was conducted within one semester on 100 undergraduate students who enrolled in the Computer Application in Management subject in Universiti Utara Malaysia. Findings show significant improvements in students' scores in all tests preceding the use of REV-OPOLY.

Abstract:
Street vended fruits cause food borne illnesses in developing countries. This study was carried out to determine the microbiological safety of some street vended fruits sold in Yenagoa metropolis of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Freshly cut ready-to-eat vended pawpaw, watermelon and pineapple were analysed for possible contamination with bacteria and fungi using standard microbiological techniques. A total of (17) samples: (5) Pawpaw, (6) Watermelon and (6) Pineapple were obtained from three (3) different local markets in Yenagoa metropolis, namely; Tombia, Opolo and Swali markets. Bacterial count ranged from 1.3x105 to 2.4x106cfu/ml for pineapple; 1.9x105 to 8.1x106cfu/ml for watermelon and 3.7x106 to 7.6x106cfu/ml for pawpaw samples. The highest bacterial count was obtained in watermelon from Opolo market, while the highest fungal count was recorded in pawpaw retailed at Opolo market. Microbial isolates were Bacillus sp, Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp, Staphylococcus sp, Klebsiella spp, Citrobacter spp, Proteus spp, Enterobacter spp, Mucor spp and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. There were 58.8% occurrence of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus spp and occurred most. Bacillus spp and Klebsiella spp had 47.1% occurrence and closely followed by Staphylococcus aureus 41.2%, while Proteus spp had the least 5.9% occurrence. The result obtained may be responsible for the prevalence of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus spp in Yenagoa metropolis. The presence of these organisms in these ready-to-eat retailed fruits analysed is a reflection of unwholesomeness and gross contamination of the fruits and therefore make the fruits unsafe for human consumption; hence the need for proper microbiological safety analysis of fruits for human consumption.

The ecotoxicological effects of leachates from dumpsite have become a major problem. Leachates arising from waste dumpsites are transported by surface runoff or infiltration through the soil and become bioavailable in the ecosystem. The ecotoxicological assessment of leachates from 6 dumpsite in Yenagoa Metropolis were investigated against adult and fingerlings of Clarias gariepinus (African catfish). Ecotoxicological activities (LC50 values) were reported for the following stations; Akenpai (124.57 ppm), and Etegwe stations (95.38 ppm), as well as Opolo (157.95 ppm), and Kpansia Markets (123.82 ppm). In addition, leachates of the two stations from the central dumpsite (CDS), were the most active (CDS 1; 60.97 ppm, and CDS 2; 76.65 ppm). Notwithstanding, the order of toxicological activities of the leachates were reported as; CDS 1>CDS2>Etegwe>Akenpai>Kpansia market>Opolo Market. These results confirm the toxicity of leachates from the dumpsites. In addition, we recommend that government, regulators and all stakeholders should enact policies to treat, reduce, recycle and reduce waste stream in order to mitigate the adverse effects on the ecosystem.

Pesquisas realizadas sobre o consumo de água para a produção agropecuária brasileira demonstram que tais informações são pouco acessíveis aos produtores. Da mesma forma, pesquisas sobre educação ambiental (EA) indicam que os trabalhos realizados nas escolas guardam pouca relação com os assuntos sobre a realidade local (OPOLSKY, 2015; SEGALA, 2017). Considerou-se oportuno a realização e divulgação de pesquisas sobre o consumo de água para a produção de aves, suínos e leite em Francisco Beltrão/SO-PR. Tais estimativas propiciam discernimento sobre as demandas existentes para o uso da água, além de propiciar mecanismos de questionamentos acerca da gratuidade dos recursos naturais para grandes cadeias produtivas sem que haja nenhuma contrapartida para a recuperação-conservação ambiental das pequenas propriedades das quais estes recursos são retirados, mostrando o papel socioambiental do ensino de geografia e a EA.

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus is a condition in which women without previously diagnosed diabetes exhibit high blood glucose levels during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes which prevalence is on the increase in Nigeria may have negative consequences on the health of the foetus or mother. This study was designed to determine the prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus and its complications among pregnant women attending antenatal services in Diette Koki memorial hospital Opolo Bayelsa State from 2014-2016.Methods: This was a retrospective study carried out at the Diette Koki Memorial Hospital Opolo in Bayelsa State. The study population comprised pregnant women that attended antenatal care services within the period of January 2014-December 2016. A designed proforma was used to collect the data from the hospital record department.Results: The results of the study showed that the prevalence of gestational diabetes in the year 2014 was 0.023% or 2.33 per 10,000 pregnancies while the prevalence for 2015 was 0.026% or 2.59% per 10000 pregnancies. Furthermore, other complications recorded were hypertension, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. Similarly, there was a significant correlation between prevalence of gestational diabetes and other complications (r=0.898, p=0.022).Conclusions: In conclusion, prevalence of gestational diabetes was recorded among pregnant women of Diette Koki memorial hospital Opobo Bayelsa State. Therefore, prompt screening and preventive measures should be enforced by health care professionals to prevent maternal and foetal morbidity and mortality.

Farace, J. Clin. Investig. 100:2218–2226, 1997). In the present study we analyzed the mechanism of vector recognition by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL). CD8+ CTL lines were derived from two patients and maintained in long-term cultures. Target cell infections with E1-deleted and E1-plus E2-deleted adenoviruses, as well as transcription-blocking experiments with actinomycin D, revealed that host T-cell recognition did not require viral gene transcription. Target cells treated with brefeldin A were not lysed, indicating that viral input protein-derived peptides are associated with HLA class I molecules. Using recombinant capsid component-loaded targets, we observed that the three major proteins could be recognized. These results raise the question of the use of multideleted adenoviruses for gene therapy in the quest to diminish antivector CTL responses.

Zakon dominikanów, zatwierdzony w 1216 r. przez papieża Honoriusza III, bardzo szybko rozprzestrzenił się, licząc już w 1228 r. dwanaście prowincji. Zdaniem Jana Andrzeja Spieża, w 1221 r. św. Jacek i jego towarzysze, jako Bracia Kaznodzieje, przybyli z Italii do Krakowa, goszcząc najpierw na dworze biskupa krakowskiego Iwona Odrowąża. Potem około 25 marca 1222 r. zamieszkali oni przy kościele Świętej Trójcy w Krakowie. W tych wydarzeniach można upatrywać zalążki polskiej prowincji dominikanów. W 1224 lub 1225 r. prowincjałem polskim został Gerard z Wrocławia, który rozesłał braci do: Wrocławia, Pragi, Kamienia, Płocka, Gdańska i Sandomierza. Od tego czasu można mówić o istnieniu polskiej prowincji zakonu dominikanów, obejmującej również teren Czech i Moraw. W latach trzydziestych i czterdziestych XIII w. powstały kolejne klasztory, m.in. w Raciborzu. Przybycie dominikanów do Raciborza można datować na lata 1241–1244. Otrzymali oni wówczas dom w mieście i pierwotny kościół św. Jakuba. Fundatorami raciborskiego klasztoru byli książęta opolscy, Mieszko II Otyły i Władysław I, oraz ich matka, Wiola. Utworzenie konwentu dominikanów w Raciborzu mogło nastąpić w 1243 lub 1244 r. Dokument z 29 października 1245 r. zawiera informacje o pierwszej donacji księcia Mieszka II Otyłego na rzecz raciborskich dominikanów i o ich przeorze oraz wylicza imiona ośmiu zakonników. Można przyjąć, że już w 1255 r. została zakończona budowa (względnie przebudowa) klasztoru i kościoła św. Jakuba, zgodnie z potrzebami dominikanów, chociaż tzw. dokument fundacyjny (raczej konfirmacyjny) został wystawiony dopiero 14 kwietnia 1258 r. Z tego dokumentu wiadomo o fundatorach raciborskiego klasztoru i jego pierwotnym uposażeniu. Baza źródłowa pozwala na uchwycenie najstarszych dochodów raciborskich zakonników.

Funkcjonujące od 1954 r. opolskie środowisko studenckie odgrywało bardzo ważną, lecz niejednoznaczną rolę w życiu społecznym. Należało do najważniejszych źródeł kadr dla komunistycznego aparatu władzy, ale bywało też bazą działalności o charakterze opozycyjnym. Stałym źródłem problemów dla władz komunistycznych była oprócz tego religijna aktywność dużej części studentów. W październiku 1956 r. opolscy studenci aktywnie występowali na rzecz demokratyzacji życia politycznego w Polsce. W późniejszym czasie władze komunistyczne zabiegały, aby jak największa liczba studentów była zrzeszona w szeregach Polskiej Zjednoczonej Partii oraz koncesjonowanych organizacji młodzieżowych. Odniesione w tej dziedzinie sukcesy nie zapobiegły jednak udziałowi opolskich studentów w ogólnopolskiej akcji protestacyjnej w marcu 1968 r. Władze komunistyczne odpowiedziały represjami wobec studentów. Zdławienie studenckiego protestu było jednak bardzo problematycznym zwycięstwem komunistów. University circles in Opole versus the communist authorities in the years 1954–1968 University students’ circles in Opole, which existed from 1954, played an important, yet ambiguous role in the local social life. For communist authorities, the university was one of the most important sources for procuring staff, but it was also a base for anti-government activities. The religious activity of many students was also a constant source of problems for the communist authorities. In October 1956, students in Opole vigorously demonstrated their support for the democratization of political life in Poland. In subsequent years, the communist authorities made efforts to attract as many students as possible to the Polish United Workers’ Party and politically approved youth organizations. Success in this respect did not discourage students in Opole from participating in the national protests of March 1968. As a consequence, students were subjected to repressions. However, the suppression of student protests remained a bitter victory for communists.

Abstract:
The effect of different soil conditions on some physiological indices of Costus afer was studied in two locations (Otuoke and Opolo) in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The soils physico-chemical properties as well as mineral elements and phytochemical contents in leaf samples were assessed using standard procedure. The descending order of mineral elements in location I were, P > Ca > Mg > K > C > H > AI >Na > N, while that of location 2 were, P > Ca > C > K >Al >H > Mg > Na > N. The contents of calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus in leaves of C. afer in location I were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than those of location 2, while the iron, zinc and lead contents in leaves of the test plant in location 1 were relatively higher than that of location 2. There were also marked variations in phyto chemical contents in leaves of the test plant between the two locations. Due to rapid urbanization, increase in coastal population, oil and gas exploration and other array of anthropogenic activities within the Niger Delta region of which Rivers and Bayelsa states are prominent amongst others, the region has been faced with coastal water pollution. There is need therefore, to evaluate the intensity of environmental contamination of the aquatic ecosystem in this region, thus this study was conducted to investigate the heavy metal levels of Clams (Egeria radiata) sold in open markets in Port Harcourt (Rivers State) and Yenagoa (Bayelsa State). Samples were collected from three markets in Port Harcourt (Mile 1, Rumuokoro and Mile 3), and three markets as well in Yenagoa (Opolo, Swali and Tombia) respectively. The samples were collected bi-weekly for 3 months and transported to the laboratory for analysis of heavy metals (Cr, Cd and Pb) levels using standard scientific method of analysis. The analysis was done in triplicates for each sample and data obtained were subjected to statistical analysis using excel spreadsheet and statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 21. The results revealed that samples collected from markets in Port Harcourt had higher concentrations of heavy metal than that of Yenagoa, though, the heavy metal levels were below World Health Organisation permissible limits, except for Cadmium (Cd) that ranged from 0.54±0.002 to 0.78±0.00 mg/kg in samples collected from Port Harcourt, against 0.5 mg/kg recommended by WHO. This could be attributed to oil and gas exploration, and discharges of industrial and domestic wastes bearing cadmium, and poses serious health risks. Therefore, routine monitoring and assessment of the aquatic ecosystem will be vital to forestall further contamination.

Yenegoa Town has in recent years witnessed rapid City growth and Urban development and much of these developments are unplanned and unregulated. This has seriously impacted on wetlands in several locations of the town as persistent Wetlands reclamations are being witnessed in study area. This prompted the need for the study which is aimed to map wetlands location in Yenagoa’s urban area using GIS and Remote Sensing approach. The study analyzes land use/land cover changes (LULC) using LANDSAT(5) TM, LANDSAT(5) ETM and LANDSAT(7) OLI satellite imageries of 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2020 respectively. Through this study, the pattern of urban expansion for Thirty years were been studied. The satellite imageries covering the area were acquired and analyzed using ArcGIS 10.1 and ENVI 5.0 software. The supervised image classification method was adopted and the classification results were validated using the Kappa Index of Agreement (KIA) yielding an accuracy of 0.69m for year 1990, 0.62m for year 2000, 0.58m for year 2010 and 0.73m for 2020. A total area of 13,741.4 hectares was delineated in the study area which is identified as Yenagoa’s urban area. After processing the imageries, four land use/land cover (LULC) classes where considered, and the results shows that Built-up area continuously increased in land area from 1990 -2020 with total percentage change of 273.31% (4,178.7ha) and total annual rate of change of 25.33. Vegetation have total percentage change of 38.55% (974.34Ha) and total annual rate of change of 3.85, wetland cover loss with total percentage Change of 61.96% (-51,44.99ha) and total annual rate of change of -6.19ha, and the water body have loss of total percentage of -2.16% (-8.05Ha) and total annual rate of change of -0.22ha wetland at Yenegwe loss by Total %change of -29.918% ( -197.95ha), and wetland at Igbogene loss by total percentage change of -36.028% (-358.7ha). The research findings also revealed that the wetlands in Anyama, Swali, Kpansia and Opolo Towns were completely lost from the third Epoch of 2010, this may be as a result of persistence reclamation of wetland in this parts of the study area. The Markov Chain predicted model were utilized for predicting the likely changes in land use land cover for a period of thirty years. The predicted results also indicates that wetland size of 32.47,%, 30.68% and 28.99% may likely be lost by the year 2030, 2040 and 2050 respectively in study area if no action is taking by concerned authorities to forestall the factors responsible for the lost in wetland. The study justified the dynamics of remote sensing and GIS techniques in modeling wetlands changees over these periods, wise use of wetland resources and improvement of institutional arrangement were recommended so that wetland policies can be fully integrated into the planning process across all disciplines.

Abstract:
Three surface refraction seismic profiles were conducted in a site targeted for huge construction in an underdeveloped area in Opolo, Yenagoa city to portray some of the subsurface soil engineering characteristics for the purposes of construction. The Generalized Reciprocal Method (GRM) was used to interpret the acquired P and S-wave. Various shallow rock engineering parameters such as Oedometric modulus, Concentration Index, Material Index, Lame’s constant, Density Gradient, Stress Ratio, Shear modulus, Bearing capacity, and N-value were calculated in other to assess the strength of the subsurface from a geophysical and engineering perspective. The values from the seismic velocity and strength parameters indicates that the bedrock layer (layer 3) of the area studied is characterized by more competent rock quality than layer 1 and 2. Hence, the Opolo site is suggested for construction activities with percussive measures.

Students worked in groups to redesign the standard Monopoly™ playing tokens, currency, action cards, properties, and special spaces for any microbial-themed topic using a provided template. A postassignment anonymous survey found that the students enjoyed this assignment and the opportunity to share their knowledge in a unique and creative format. While this assignment is especially amenable to microbiology due the large diversity seen in the microbial world, it could easily be adapted to other topics such as genetics, chemistry, or even math, where categorical associations or patterns are prevalent.

AbstractFar from being passive and/or static victims of climate change, indigenous peoples are hybridizing knowledge systems, and challenging and negotiating new environmental and social realities to develop their own adaptation options within their own registers of what is place and culture appropriate. Our paper seeks to demonstrate how we, as guests on Māori land, were able to develop a partnership with a Māori community facing difficult adaptation decisions regarding climate change hazards through the pragmatic navigation of multi-disciplinary research and practice. In particular, we co-developed and tested the potential of a serious game (Marae-opoly) approach as a platform which assembles cross-cultural climate change knowledge to learn, safely experiment and inform adaptation decisions. Marae-opoly was developed bespoke to its intended context—to support the creation of mutually agreeable dynamic adaptive policy pathways (DAPP) for localized flood adaptation. Game material was generated by drawing together detailed local knowledge (i.e. hydrology, climate data, mātauranga hapū) and situated adaptation options and accurate contextual data to create a credible gaming experience for the hapū of Tangoio Marae. We argue that the in-situ co-development process used to co-create Marae-opoly was fundamental in its success in achieving outcomes for the hapū. It also provided important lessons for the research team regarding how to enter as respectful guests and work together effectively to provide a resource to support our partners' adaptation decisions. The paper discusses the steps taken to establish research partnerships and develop the serious game and its subsequent playing, albeit we do not evaluate our indigenous research partners' adaptation decisions. Our contribution with this paper is in sharing an approach which cultivated the ground to enter as respectful guests and work together effectively to provide a resource for our partners' adaptation decisions.

Potable water is a scarce resource in Yenegoa (Bayelsa Nigeria) town because of problems of quality and contamination. Residents in the town depend therefore on imported water and ground water sources for sustenance. Over 200 boreholes exist in the city and constitute the major source of domestic water to this growing third world city. Thus, the present study aimed to diagnose the quality of the water consumed by the population. For this, 30 boreholes were selected and the presence of readily analyzable biological contaminants in ground water sources in the city and its health implications was examined. Selected micro-organisms (coliform, E. coli, Pseudomonas and Salmonella) where analyzed and compared with WHO/FEPA water quality standards. Results revealed the presence of hazardous biological communities in the ground water sources especially in the Opolo-Okaka-Old Yenegoa-Swali axis, while groundwater sources from the up-gradient and more clayey Igbogene-Agudama-Okutukutu axis were relatively free of the selected biological contaminants. The study concludes that ground water in the Yenegoa central district and the Swali areas su!er intense biological contamination which therefore exposes inhabitants to water borne diseases such as: cholera, diarrhea, typhoid fever, bacterial and amebic dysentery, polio infections, hepatitis and schistosomiasis. Suspected contamination sources is seepage from oft-ill constructed soak-away pits and groundwater problems arising from the seasonal "ooding of porous soil formations and the collapse of the water table especially in the long rainy season that characterize the study area.
