À leur apogée, les Expositions universelles ou internationales, marques des processus de mondialisation et de modernisation, ne manquaient pas une participation chinoise de multi-forme et multi-niveau dans le principal pays organisateur, la France. L’étude de la présence chinoise suit chronologiquement ces grandes manifestations déroulées à Paris, cas par cas, durant près d’un siècle. Les représentations traitées évoluaient avec le temps, selon le contexte international, la relation franco-chinoise et le régime politique. La question d’éclairer les faits et de préciser les limites de la place de ce pays aux Expositions universelles françaises se situe à l’origine de la présente étude. À la fin de la dynastie, des Douanes maritimes impériales sous la direction des étrangers influençaient fortement les procédures d’organisation. Témoins de la mutation de la vie économique, des pavillons nationaux à Paris dévoilaient tant le déséquilibre de la répartition géographique de commerce que la disparité de la structure industrielle dans ce pays. De manière parallèle, des manifestations culturelles et artistiques présentaient une continuité survivant aux changements. De plus, l’analyse de ces participations permet d’examiner l’éventuelle capacité de se présenter sur l’échiquier international, ainsi que d’évaluer de premiers efforts d’industrialisation chinoise. Cette thèse a pour ambition de dresser un bilan des participations chinoises en France, afin de contribuer à l’un des aspects de l’histoire des expositions de la Chine moderne<br>In their heyday, the World’s fairs, landmarks of the processes of globalization and modernization, did not lack a Chinese participation of multiform and multi-level in the main organizing country, France. The study of the Chinese presence follows chronologically these great events held in Paris, case by case, for nearly a century. The representations treated evolved with time, according to the international context, the Franco-Chinese relationship and the political regime. The question of clarifying the facts and specifying the limits of the place of this country in the French World’s fairs is the origin of the present study. At the end of the dynasty, imperial maritime customs under the direction of foreigners strongly influenced the organizational procedures. Witnessing the mutation of economic life, national pavilions in Paris revealed both the imbalance of the geographical distribution of trade and the disparity of the industrial structure in this country. At the same time, cultural and artistic events presented a continuity that survived the changes. Moreover, the analysis of these participations allows us to examine the possible capacity to present itself on the international scene, as well as to evaluate the first efforts of Chinese industrialization. This thesis aims to draw up an assessment of Chinese participations in France, in order to contribute to one aspect of the history of exhibitions in modern China

The perspectives of Brazil, in terms of Research and Development are not optimistic, since the investments are still low. Such picture of innovation scarcity is even more noticeable in companies of small- sized. Among the possible alternatives of innovation, glimpses a open innovation (OI). In Brazil, that already exist some initiatives related to the disclosure, promotion and adoption of Open Innovation, however, it is perceived that the focus of the research hovers in the look of the large companies, thus, it is understood the relevance of the study of the thematic in a doctoral thesis ,since the reality that is proposed to be studied, that is,companies small-sized, still lacks studies. Thus, this study has as a research question: how is open innovation adopted in companies of small-sized in the information and communication technology sector? Therefore, the study is characterizing itself as a qualitative approach research, of exploratory nature, and the research strategy is configured as a multiple case study. The analysis corpus covers organizations linked to the Local Productive Arrangement of the Information and Communications Technology Sector, located in the city of Santa Maria/RS, called Software Center. Among the main results, evidenced that organizations are considered young, since the average time in the market refers to six or eight years, they count, on average, with about seventeen employees in its functional framework. It was possible to identify that most managers do not have conceptual knowledge of Open Innovation, however, this does not prevent organizations from to leave to practice on openness initiatives, in reference of the reasons for the opening, stands out the fact the organizations belong to the sector of Information and Communications technology, what forecasts close relationship with the clients in the daily processes and the culture of openness, are preponderant reasons for the adoption of Open Innovation. In addition, among the main partners of Open Innovation include clients and the innovations raise from the opening processes, being Characterizing itself mainly as incremental stamp innovations. Curiously, the managers point out that being part of the Local Productive Arrangement Software Center does not influence the process of opening the company. At the end of the study, the contribution of the thesis concerns a theoretical framework proposal, which is intends to generate insights and guide managers in the adoption of open innovation in companies of small-sized.<br>As perspectivas do Brasil, em termos de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento (P&D), não são otimistas, visto que os investimentos ainda são baixos. Tal quadro de escassez de inovação é ainda mais perceptível nas empresas de pequeno porte. Dentre as alternativas possíveis de inovação, vislumbra-se a open innovation (OI). No Brasil, já existem algumas iniciativas relacionadas à divulgação, promoção e adoção da OI, entretanto, percebe-se que o foco das pesquisas paira no olhar das grandes empresas, assim, entende-se a relevância do estudo da temática em uma tese de doutorado, uma vez que a realidade que se propõe a ser estudada, ou seja, empresas de pequeno porte, ainda carece de estudos. Desse modo, este estudo tem como questão de pesquisa: Como a inovação aberta é adotada em empresas de pequeno porte do setor de Tecnologia da Informação e Comunicações? Para tanto, o estudo caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, de caráter exploratório, e a estratégia de pesquisa configura-se como um estudo de casos múltiplo. O corpus de análise abrange as organizações vinculadas ao arranjo produtivo local (APL) do setor de Tecnologia da Informação e Comunicações (TIC), localizado na cidade de Santa Maria/RS. Dentre os principais resultados, evidenciou-se que as organizações são consideradas jovens, visto que a média de tempo no mercado refere-se a seis ou oito anos, contam, em média, com cerca de 17 colaboradores no seu quadro funcional. Foi possível identificar que grande parte dos gestores não possui conhecimento conceitual de OI, entretanto, isso não impede que as organizações deixem de praticar iniciativas de abertura. No que tange aos motivos da abertura, destaca-se que o fato das organizações pertencerem ao setor de TIC, o qual prevê relacionamento estreito com os clientes nos processos diários e a cultura de abertura, são motivos preponderantes para a adoção de OI. Ademais, entre os principais parceiros de OI figuram os clientes e as inovações oriundas dos processos de abertura, caracterizando-se principalmente, como inovações de cunho incremental. Curiosamente, os gestores apontam que fazer parte do APL Centrosoftware não influencia o processo de abertura da empresa. Finalizando o estudo, a contribuição da tese diz respeito a uma proposta de framework teórico, que tem a intenção de gerar insights e guiar os gestores na adoção da inovação aberta em empresas de pequeno porte.

A democracia e as decisões oriundas das instituições públicas se realizam de forma legítima se os cidadãos conseguem participar e interagir, trocando argumentos dos prós e contras sobre determinada questão que envolve o bem comum da sociedade e da cidade. O modo de vida nas cidades, influenciados inclusive por variáveis relacionadas ao urbanismo e ao desenho urbano, acabam por transferir o momento deste encontro para os espaços públicos abertos – aí incluídos as vias públicas - por onde as pessoas inevitavelmente entram em contato. A preocupação com os espaços públicos abertos é tema recorrente na história da cidade de Porto Alegre há pelo menos quatro décadas, o que pode ser verificado pela análise do tratamento institucional dado ao tema. No entanto, mesmo com o passar do tempo, os problemas de mobilidade urbana persistem, e inclusive se acentuam, fruto das decisões do Poder Executivo local que acabam por inverter a prioridade, consolidando e incentivando a utilização do automóvel como modal de transporte preferencial, resultando no afastamento das pessoas e na dificuldade de interação. Movimentos sociais surgem em oposição a estas políticas, e a bicicleta se torna instrumento e símbolo para a retomada da escala humana da cidade como lugar do encontro, da interação, e da democracia.<br>Decisions taken by public institutions – as democracy itself – can be considered legitimate and function as such, when citizens are able to participate and interact, exchanging arguments of the pros and cons on an issue that involves the common good of society and the city. The urban way of life – influenced by Urbanism and urban design related factors – end up transferring that meeting point to the public spaces – including public thoroughfares – where people, inevitably, come in contact with each other. Dealing with open public spaces is a recurring subject and often reason for concern in Porto Alegre; it has been so for about four decades at least; this can de verified by analysing how public institutions have dealt with this issue. As a matter of fact, urban mobility related problems persist, and get even worse, as a consequence of decisions taken by the local government, which end up reverting priorities: the use of the automobile as a preferred mode of transportation is further encouraged and consolidated. People get more isolated, interaction is more difficult. Social movements arise, opposing such policies; the bicycle becomes a tool and a symbol for regaining the human scale of the city as a place of meeting, of interacting, and of democracy.

The notion of space being eroded by time underpins the dominant formulations of globalisation premised on time-space compression. The consequences have included the announcement of the ‘end of geography’. More recently, a spatial turn has repositioned the concept of space at the forefront of Human Geography. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to the ongoing theoretical reconceptualisation of space with an empirical study of the contested port city of Fremantle. Set within the broader metropolitan area of Western Australia’s capital city, Perth, Fremantle is simultaneously constructed by local and external actors as a ‘city under threat’ and as a ‘city in decline’. It is the dominant port city of Western Australia and differs in many ways, historically, physically, culturally and economically from its modern, suburban surrounds. Using the question ‘whose city’ in my interactions and observations within Fremantle, I began to see contestations for space emerging.This thesis explores four controversies pertinent to the ongoing battles to define (the meaning of spaces within) Fremantle. The forces of change impacting on Fremantle include de-industrialisation, gentrification, urban entrepreneurialism and heritage construction; however these challenges have served as contingencies which have enabled the opening up of these controversies to other voices. My participant observations, overlayed with a discourse analysis of content from the local Fremantle Herald newspaper across the decade 2000 to 2010, have allowed me to critically engage with these local political controversies. What I found is that, if space is reconceptualised not as a fixed surface but as relational, contested and always in process, then no one group or individual can ever truly claim ownership of or an identity for Fremantle. Consequently what is at issue are the local terms by which competing groups and individuals stake their claims to the ownership or the meaning of the city.Drawing on the work of Doreen Massey, Nigel Thrift and Matthew Rofe, this thesis aims to contribute to the ongoing reconceptualisation of space occurring in contemporary post structuralist scholarship.

O Programa Escola Aberta (UNESCO/MEC) consiste na abertura das escolas públicas aos finais de semana como alternativa para a reversão do quadro de violência e a construção de espaços de cidadania para os jovens e para as comunidades consideradas em situação de vulnerabilidade social. A música, neste programa, é vista como uma ferramenta de reversão do quadro de exclusão e violência entre os jovens considerados em situação de vulnerabilidade social. Este trabalho investiga os sentidos da pedagogia musical nas atividades de música da Escola Aberta Chapéu do Sol, em Porto Alegre, RS. O estudo adota o conceito de pedagogia musical alicerçado nas discussões sociológicas dos autores Roberto Albarea, (1994), Mario Piatti (1994) e Rudolph D. Kraemer (2000). A metodologia escolhida para a realização desta pesquisa foi o estudo de caso único, de abordagem qualitativa (MERRIAM, 1998, STAKE, 2000). As ferramentas utilizadas para a realização da coleta de dados foram a observação participante, as entrevistas individuais e em grupo, e análise dos documentos oficiais do Programa Escola Aberta. A análise dos dados empíricos recolhidos foi feita a partir dos cruzamentos realizados entre os discursos dos participantes da pesquisa com os documentos oficiais do Programa Escola Aberta. Os resultados apontaram que a concepção sobre as atividades de música a serem propostas na Escola Aberta Chapéu do Sol, estava relacionada com a visão "conteudista" (PIATTI, 1994) da pedagogia musical, na qual, a música é vista como um objeto separado dos jovens e do contexto no qual ela acontece. Os interesses e os sentidos em participar dos Grupos de hip-hop da Escola, revelados pelos jovens. estavam associados às questões identitárias, polissêmicas e socializadoras destes em relação ao grupo de amigos (peer-groups), e como forma de expressão e reflexão acerca de seus mundos. Para os Coordenadores, Gestores, Interlocutores e Oficineiro de Música, as atividades a serem desenvolvidas na Escola Aberta dependiam de uma orientação profissional musical para "qualificar" os processos pedagógico-musicais dos jovens.<br>The Open-School Program (UNESCO/MEC) adopted in public schools allows them to be open on weekends, becoming an alternative attempt to reverse the violent environment, and to build up citizenship opportunities to the youth, as well as to the socially vulnerable communities. In the Open-School Program music is regarded as a tool to reverse the exclusion and violence among the youth living under social vulnerability. This research investigates the purposes of the musical pedagogy in the musical activities performed in the Escola Aberta Chapéu do Sol, in Porto Alegre, RS. The study adopts the concept of musical pedagogy founded on the sociological discussions of the authors Roberto Albarea (1994), Mario Piatti (1994), and Rudolph D. Kraemer (2000). The methodology chosen for the realization of this research was the single case study with a qualitative approach (Merriam, 1998, Stake, 2000 ). The tools used for collecting data were based on participative observation, individual and group interviews, and analysis of official documents from the Open-School Program. The analysis of the collected empirical data was based upon cross-dating realized between the discourses of the participants in the research and the official documents of the Open-School Program. The results showed that the concept based on the musical activities proposed in the Escola Aberta Chapéu do Sol was interwoven with the content-based approach to the musical pedagogy (Piatti, 1994), whereby, music is seen as a subject detached from the youth and the environment where it takes place. The interests and purposes of the participation in the youth hip-hop Groups from the Open- School Chapéu do Sol, according to the young people, were associated with identity, polysemy, and socialization in relation to their peers; they also reported it as a way of expressing and reflecting upon their environment. According to the coordinators, managers, interlocutors, and music workshop instructors, the musical activities relied on professional musical advice in order to better qualify the pedagogical musical processes for the youth.

This dissertation aims to analyze the transformation of Pusan by examining the social, political, economic, and cultural changes during the open-port period (1876-1910). Prior to annexation, Pusan, as the first open port in Korea, reflected features of the colonial urban development in which alien power achieved and sustained a hegemonic domination on socio-cultural-economic dimensions of people’s lives. Colonial history in Korea has been divided and moving on parallel lines. The ‘nationalist school’ and the ‘socioeconomic school’ have failed to come together and move us into a deeper understanding of the Japanese colonial period. In order to narrow the gap between the two schools of thought, this thesis suggests looking at ‘colonial modernity’ through the analytical lens of the colonial city of Pusan. The approach examines changes in the social, economic, and cultural life of people rather than through the traditional binary construction of ‘victim versus victimizer’ or ‘colonial repression versus national resistance.’ In particular, I pay close attention to the fact that colonization is a process of imperial expansion by means of colonialists. In the end, the process of colonization in Pusan was a process by which the Japanese settlers expanded in wealth, population, influence, and power. The cluster of factors – enlargement of settlement (living space), the expansion of the economy (economic opportunity), improvement of public enterprises, such as transportation infrastructure, water supply and hygiene (improving quality of life) – were catalysts for the Japanese settlers to take up residence in Pusan. Based on the transformation of the urban space of Pusan at this micro level, I discuss a hierarchy of power relations within the spatial boundary of Pusan. In other words, I focus on human aspects of these changes rather than on systemic changes. I attempt to demonstrate how studying a city can offer a useful category of analysis for the question of ‘modernity’ in Korea.

A esterilização utilizando a radiação ionizante é uma técnica consolidada para o processamento de produtos médicos descartáveis. No Brasil há irradiadores gama em operação com capacidade entre 0.37 PBq (10kCi) a 185 PBq (5 MCi ) utilizando radioisótopos 60Co como fonte de radiação. O trabalho desenvolvido proporciona um controle e registro apurado da aplicação das Boas Práticas de Fabricação (BPF), durante todas as fases de um processo de irradiação, requeridos pelas normas da ANVISA , ISO e recomendações técnicas da AIEA durante o tratamento de alimentos e produtos médicos. Todas as etapas envolvidas no tratamento por irradiação estão mapeados em fluxos de processos (workflow) onde cada agente (participante) tem suas tarefas sistematizadas. A aquisição de dados do processo, o acompanhamento e controle, estão baseados em um conjunto de ferramentas (software livre de licenças) integradas por uma rede de comunicação eficiente, inclusive, utilizando-se recursos da WEB. O desenvolvimento foi realizado para uma unidade com capacidade de processamento a nível industrial , utilizando-se o Irradiador Gama Multipropósito do IPEN/CNEN/USP. O sistema permite a rastreabilidade do processamento, em tempo real, a qualquer participante e também o armazenamento dos registros correspondentes para serem auditados.<br>The sterilization of medical care products using ionizing radiation is a consolidated technique. In Brazil there are in operation gamma irradiators with capacity between 0.37 PBq (10kCi) 185 PBq (5 MCi) using radioisotopes 60Co as radiation source. The developed work provides an accurate control anda data acquisition for the application of Good Manufacturing Practices during all fases of an irradiadiation process, required by the standards of ANVISA , ISO and IAEA technical recommendations for the treatment of foods and medical products.. All the steps involved in the irradiation treatment are mapped into process flow (workflow) , where each agent (participant) has its systematized tasks. The data acquisition process, monitoring and control, are based on a set of tools (free software licenses) integrated by a network of efficient communication, including the use of Web resources. Using the Gamma Irradiator Multipurpose IPEN/CNEN/USP all the development was performed to be applied in irradiators facilities operating in industrial scale. The system enables a complete traceability of the process, in real time, for any participant and also the storage of the corresponding records to be audited.

<p>Over the last few decades, the industrialized world in general and the automobile industry in particular was hit by immense changes which strongly influence the management of R&D. Trends such as globalization and sharp competition on worldwide open markets, increasing product complexity in order to meet the customers’ desires for more variety and individualization, technology fusion and cross industry innovations, high level of technological and competitive uncertainty, increasing pressure to reduce R&D budgets, and shorter time to market and reduced innovation cycles in consequence of rising competition, force companies to source external knowledge and to bring in and exploit outside-in innovations instead of reinventing them their selves. In the same way, the Open Innovation concept highlights the need for organizations to open up their innovation processes. As a consequence, many R&D organizations are being transformed in order to meet the upcoming challenges and established technological listening posts to source external knowledge in centers of technological excellence and innovation.</p><p>This study focus on the knowledge acquisition, transformation and transfer from innovation cluster to central R&D, and examines the roles and typologies of technological gatekeepers. Based on a sound literature review and in-depth qualitative study of the case company BMW, this thesis explores how technological listening posts can take the mediating role of technology gatekeepers and how different mechanisms and typologies for gatekeeping can be deployed for optimal transformation and transfer of external knowledge into internal innovation.</p>

On est particulièrement concerné avec des models pour lesquels leur description en termes de la CFT ont des propriétés assez exotiques, comme par exemple le fait d’être “non-compact”, une propriété identifiée par l’observation d’un continuum d’exposants critiques dans le formalisme de la mécanique statistique, et par l’observation d’un continuum de dimensions conformes dans le formalisme de la CFT. On utilise des outils venant de l’integrabilité et de l’Ansatz de Bethe ainsi que des outils numériques comme la diagonalisation exacte afin de relier les descriptions des modèles sur le réseau avec des descriptions en termes de théories des champs.On se concentre particulièrement sur le modèle de Potts au point critique antiferromagnétique, dont le nom vient du signe devant la constante de couplage à ce point critique. Le point de départ de cette analyse est la presentation des nouvelles conditions aux bords conformes qui produisent, dans la limite continue, le caractère discret de la “Théorie conforme euclidienne” sur le réseau. En étudiant la théorie des représentations des algèbres sur le réseau on trouve une identité reliant le caractère discret aux fonctions des cordes d’une théorie conforme parafermionique.Motivé par la potentiel d’appliquer les outils d’integrabilité, on montre qu’il existe une correspondence exacte entre le modèle de Potts antiferromagnétique, et en particulier sa description comme modele de vertex décalé, et une modèle integrable construit depuis l’algèbre D_2^2. Ce résultat ouvre la voie pour une solution exacte du modèle avec deux conditions aux bords conformes et qui permet une interprétation simple en termes des modèles de boucles. La limite continue d’un de ces conditions à bord est non-compact, et on observe un flot de la group de renormalisation de la CFT ouverte non-compacte vers la CFT ouverte compacte<br>It is well known that lattice systems undergoing second-order phase transitions are described by Conformal Field Theories (CFTs) in the continuum limit. This thesis revolves around the study of open critical lattice models and their descriptions in the continuum limit by boundary CFTs, and is particularly concerned with models whose CFT descriptions have certain exotic properties such as being non-compact, a property identified by the appearance of a continuum of critical exponents in the language of statistical mechanics, and by the appearance of a continuum of conformal dimensions in the language of CFT. Tools from integrability such as the Bethe Ansatz, as well as numerical techniques such as exact diagonalisation are used to move between the lattice and field theory descriptions of the models under consideration.Particular focus is applied to the Potts model at its antiferromagnetic critical point, so-called due to the sign of the coupling constant at this critical point. A starting point in the analysis presented here is that new conformal boundary conditions in the antiferromagnetic Potts model are found and are shown to result in the appearance of the discrete character of the Euclidean Black Hole CFT on the lattice. Further study involving the lattice algebra representation theory results in an identity relating this discrete character to the string functions from the parafermion CFT.Motivated by the potential to apply the tools of integrability, the antiferromagnetic Potts model - and in particular its description as a staggered vertex model - is shown to map exactly to an integrable model constructed from the so-called D_2^2 algebra. This paves the way for an exact solution of the antiferromagnetic Potts model with two independent conformally invariant boundary conditions, both of which have convenient interpretations when the problem is formulated as a loop model. The continuum limit of the model with one of these boundary conditions is found to be non-compact, and a boundary renormalisation group flow is observed from a non-compact boundary CFT to a compact one

Em 2009, foi aprovada a Lei da Operação Urbana Consorciada (OUC) Porto Maravilha, tendo como objetivo promover a reestruturação urbana da zona portuária do Rio de Janeiro por meio da ampliação, articulação e requalificação dos seus espaços livres de uso público, com foco na melhoria da qualidade de vida de seus moradores e na sustentabilidade ambiental e socioeconômica da região. Esse objetivo está teoricamente em consonância com os conceitos trazidos pela bibliografia recente acerca do urbanismo sustentável e da qualidade ambiental urbana. Esta dissertação busca apontar os alcances e as limitações dos espaços públicos e da regulação urbanística de uso e ocupação do solo propostos pela OUC Porto Maravilha, sob o ponto de vista da qualidade ambiental urbana, como foco principal nas áreas livres e vegetadas. Além de uma investigação teórica desses aspectos, para efetivação do objetivo proposto, foram realizados o diagnóstico urbano da zona portuária do Rio e o estudo das propostas de projeto e legislação da OUC. Além disso, a pesquisa apresenta algumas experiências de regulamentações urbanísticas de uso e ocupação do solo, com foco na promoção de áreas livres e vegetadas em lotes, aplicadas em outras cidades do mundo. As análises e discussões desenvolvidas demonstram que, no âmbito nacional, a OUC Porto Maravilha apresenta diversas ações inovadoras com impacto positivo na qualidade ambiental urbana. Entretanto, a pesquisa também aponta os desafios e diretrizes que podem servir de referência para a formulação de futuras políticas públicas, tanto para a região objeto de estudo, como para outras localidades.<br>Porto Maravilha Urban Operation approved in 2009 has as its aim the promotion of the Rio de Janeiro harbor area renewal by expanding, articulating and requalifying its public open spaces, with special focus on the improvement of the resident\'s quality of life and on the sustainability. This objective is theoretically consonant with the concepts brought by recent bibliography on sustainable urbanism and on urban environmental quality. This thesis seeks to point out the scopes and limitations of public spaces and the use and occupancy ordinances proposed by the Porto Maravilha Urban Operation from the point of view of urban environmental quality, with a chief focus on the green and open areas. Besides a theoretical investigation of these aspects, in order to achieve the proposed objectives, this study also presents an urban diagnosis of the harbor area in Rio and an evaluation of the urban planning and legislation proposed for the project. Moreover, this research presents some experiences of urbanistic regulations on the use and occupancy of sites, focusing on promoting open and green spaces, applied in other cities of the world. The evaluations and discussions here developed show that, within the national scope, the Porto Maravilha has several innovative actions with a positive impact on urban environmental quality. However, the research also points to challenges and guidelines for the Project that can be a reference for the development of future public policies in the studied region as well as for other areas.

Inserted in a highly competitive market scenario, the micro and small enterprises are facing difficulties in competing with large and medium-sized organizations, offering a higher level of resources and supply information about your business. The controls on monthly revenues, production costs, overhead, taxes, payroll, interest paid among others, support the decision-making process, making this essential information in the management of an organization. But in the reality of small businesses, these data are not always clear and available in real time. In this sense, information systems help companies in the information management and can represent a competitive advantage for organizations that adopt them. The research is classified as action research with qualitative approach exploratory, with the procedure a case study. The objective is to implement a free ERP system in a small business with a focus on improving production performance indicators. We sought to determine whether the implanted system helped in improving the performance indicators, checking them before and after implementation. A free ERP was chosen, seeking to reduce the cost of buying and maintaining software, and does not use paid consultants for implementation, since the process was carried out by company employees. It was concluded that the implementation of ERP has brought progress to the company because there have been improvements in the performance indicators of production after accession to the software. The implementation of a free ERP system promoted a bolder management in a small enterprise, opening the potential for improving the results of this company.<br>Inseridas em um cenário mercadológico altamente competitivo, as micro e pequenas empresas defrontam-se com dificuldades em concorrer com organizações de médio e grande porte, que dispõe de um maior nível de recursos e suprimento de informações sobre o seu negócio. Os controles sobre faturamento mensal, custos de produção, despesas gerais, impostos, folha de pagamento, juros pagos entre outros, dão suporte ao processo decisório, tornando estas informações essenciais na administração de uma organização. Porém, na realidade das empresas de pequeno porte, nem sempre estes dados estão claros e disponíveis em tempo real. Neste sentido, sistemas de informação auxiliam as empresas na gestão de informações e podem representar um diferencial competitivo para as organizações que os adotam. A pesquisa classifica-se como pesquisa-ação, com abordagem qualitativa de caráter exploratório, tendo como procedimento um estudo de caso. O objetivo do estudo é implantar um sistema de ERP gratuito em uma empresa de pequeno porte com foco na melhoria de indicadores de desempenho da produção. Buscou-se averiguar se o sistema implantado auxiliou na melhoria dos indicadores de desempenho, verificando-os antes e depois da implementação. Foi escolhido um ERP gratuito, procurando-se reduzir dos custos com a aquisição e manutenção de software, além de não utilizar consultorias pagas para a implantação, pois o processo foi realizado pelos colaboradores da empresa. Concluiu-se que a implantação do ERP trouxe progressos à empresa, pois houve melhorias nos indicadores de desempenho da produção após à adesão ao software. A implantação de um sistema ERP gratuito promoveu uma gestão mais arrojada em um pequeno empreendimento, abrindo a possibilidade de melhoria dos resultados desta empresa.

Le but principal de cette étude était la recherche de structures optimales de charbons activés capables d"atteindre l'objectif de stockage d'hydrogène fixé par le département de l"énergie américain (DOE) pour les applications mobiles en utilisant l"adsorption physique à la température ambiante et aux pressions en-dessous de120 bars. L'hydrogène est destiné à être stocké dans une cuve rempliée d"adsorbants et doit être utilisé dans les véhicules alimentés principalement par des piles à combustible. Les adsorbants à base de carbone connus ont une capacité de stockage faible. Par conséquent, dans ce travail, j'ai défini les paramètres responsables de l'insuffisance de capacité de stockage de ces matériaux. Une attention particulière a été accordée à la géométrie locale des pores des adsorbants. J'ai étudié la structure locale des pores des adsorbants à base de carbone et je présente le principe de la conception d"architectures tridimensionnelles de nouvelles structures de carbone ainsi que la capacité d'adsorption de l'hydrogène par ces structures, lesquelles constituent une classe prometteuse de matériaux pour le stockage d'hydrogène et qui n'ont pas été étudiées jusqu'ici. Hormis la maximisation de la densité de l'hydrogène absorbée par cette famille de structures, mon but était de caractériser l'adsorption dans cette nouvelle catégorie d'adsorbants. Cela permet d"apporter des informations quant à la méthodologie à utiliser pour ajuster les propriétés physiques de ces matériaux afin d'optimiser leurs propriétés de stockage. Les résultats obtenus semblent montrer que cet objectif est atteint et confirment que mon approche constitue une bonne base pour de futures recherches<br>The main goal of research presented in this thesis has been a search for optimal carbon-based porous structure capable to achieve the hydrogen storage capacity defined by US Department of Energy (DOE) for mobile applications at room temperature by adsorption at medium-level pressures below 120 bars. The hydrogen is assumed to be stored in a tank filled with adsorbents to be used in transport application, mainly fuel-cell driven vehicles. The known carbon-based adsorbents have low storage capacity. Therefore in this work, I have defined the basic parameters which are responsible for the capacity deficiency of such materials. Special attention has been paid to local pore geometry of adsorbents. I have investigated the pore local structure of carbon-based adsorbents and I present the basis of design and hydrogen adsorption capacity in three-dimensional architecture of new carbon frameworks, a promising class of potential hydrogen storage materials that have not been studied so far. Apart from maximizing the density of hydrogen taken up by this family of structures, I have aimed at characterization of this new category of adsorbents. This is hoped to lead to a guidance how their physical properties can be designed, or `tuned', to optimize their storage properties, and the obtained results seem to achieve this aim and thus provide a good basis for future research

In addition to difficult cooperation between customers and software engineers, the porting of open source software (OSS) challenges the XP principle of “write unit test first”, as there is no unit tests.
To solve this problem, this thesis proposes: 1) a shared, virtual development platform for the diversified expert to communicate with each other, and 2) a test-driven development (TDD)-based methodology for porting OSS in embedded systems.
The expected benefits are: 1) the shared, virtual development platform facilitates the XP practice of collective code ownership. It also assists domain knowledge sharing. 2) Using open source software lowers the technical barrier of porting and thus cut down the cost and time for it. The OSS can thus be regarded as spike solution of XP. 3) This TDD OSS methodology inherits extreme programming that shortens iteration and that promises to bring about rapid development of high quality embedded systems.

port function has been removed from the urban waterfront altogether. For this practicum, the subject is not the post-industrial, but rather an investigation into the role of landscape architecture in a place where industry persists on the shoreline. Halifax, Nova Scotia is the
principle location for this exploration wherein the existing port-city interface is re-evaluated. This study includes an examination of the course of worldwide port development and the resulting impacts on port-city interrelationships and a historical comparison of the Port of Halifax to the general evolution. Mapping is the core of the analysis and is the primary means of assessing current conditions and future considerations. The work concludes with a final design proposal. Design drawings demonstrate the conceivability of the working port environment as a place to reconnect citizens with their harbour and the activities that occur within.

This is the first neutron scattering beamline at THOR for 40 years operation. The neutron reflectometer can be used to measure the atomic and magnetic depth profiles of the polymer and magnetic thin films. Neutron mainly interacts with the nuclei and magnetic moments; and X-ray interacts with electron clouds, respectively. They are important and complementary tools on the research work of condensed matter physics. The non-polarized neutron reflectometer is finished constructed, and the polarized one is in process currently. For the polarized neutron reflectometer, a Heusler crystal will be used to monochromate and polarize neutron; Or to polarize the neutron by using Fe/Si supermirror after monochromated by the graphite crystal. The preliminary results show that the maximum counting rate is 10^5 cps at the sample stage, the background is 0.2 cps, and the maximum dynamic range can be achieved up to 10^4—10^5.

The ND experiments were carried out at W3 port of THOR (2 MW). The neutron beam with wavelength λ0 = 2.37 Å is chosen by graphite monochromator, and then polarized and analyzed by Heusler Cu2MnAl (111) crystals. The neutron polarization ratio of the beamline is about 82%. The depolarized neutrons were collected by a 3He detector. Four hundred neutron counts per second was achieved. A Ni75Fe25 sample was used to test the performance of this beamline. The measured depolarization factor is 0.789 and the procession angle is 2.61 rad, which imply the mean magnetic domain size is 34±7 μm and mean magnetic induction is 236.6 Oe has been investigated by ND technique in Ni75Fe25.

In this beamline, with the neutron depolarization technique, provides information of the mean domain size, the mean square direction cosine of the magnetic induction in the domains, and the mean magnetization of a magnetic sample. In this work, the surface magnetic domain and inner magnetic domain of Ni-ferrite samples with different densities are studied. The MFM results show the surface magnetic domain size is about 2 �慆, which is consistent with 2 �慆 of inner magnetic domain size measured by depolarized neutron technique. In addition, the problems of improving the polarization ratio of neutron beamline were discussed. The final polarization factor of this beamline is 92%.

This internship was done as part of the Master in Geographic Information Technologies.During this internship, a Geographical Information System was under development - a system capable of managing the data pertaining to the dispossessions that resulted as a part of Porto Metro system construction works.In order to carry out this work, Metro do Porto S.A., the company responsible for the construction of the Porto Metro system, used the Expropriations bill in order to dispossess numerous parcels of land. This procedure resulted on a large amount of documents with detailed information regarding each parcel of land. In order to organise all the information obtained by the expropriations procedure, Municípia developed a Geographic Database and a GIS solution, based on open source software. This type of software displays great advantages in this context, in addition to its great potential, because it presents a low-cost solution for the company and shows the capacity of adpating to its needs.The adopted methodology included the crafting of the data model, the implementation of the GIS solution and the uploading of data relating to the expropriated parcels. The support for spatial data storage and processing derived from an object-oriented relational database management system (SGBDOR), PostgreSQL / PostGIS, that was able to interrelate all relevant information.A Quantum GIS (QGIS) was utilised as the GIS solution, a free open source software that allows users to consult and explore geographic information and grants read and edit data rights in PostgreSQL / PostGIS. One of the features of the QGIS relevant to this case is the ability to support PostgreSQL / PostGIS geographic databases.A thorough and robust relational database was obtained, a database capable of storing all the existing information, where the geographical location of a given parcel can be easily accessible as well as its corresponding expropriation procedure.This ability to access a given geo-referenced entity with its respective information is only possible thanks to the combination of GIS with relational databases. This exemplifies the importance and usefulness that they present nowadays. Free open source and open source software are emerging as alternative solutions to proprietary software, equally capable, facing several challenges that emerge in the daily life of companies, both from the private and public sector.Keywords - Geographic Information System, Free Open Source Software, Open Source Software, Relational Database, PostgreSQL / PostGIS, Expropriations.<br>Nas últimas décadas tem-se assistido a uma cresceste evolução tecnológica e os Sistemas de Informação Geográfica (SIG) são um exemplo desse avanço. O desenvolvimento de bases de dados capazes de integrar informação geográfica, de armazenar grandes volumes de dados e de os interligar, tem sido muito útil para diversas empresas, dado que permite informatizar e facilitar o acesso e o manuseamento de informação que anteriormente se encontrava em grandes volumes de papel muitas vezes desorganizados.O presente documento trata-se do relatório de estágio curricular realizado no âmbito do Mestrado em Tecnologias de Informação Geográfica, na empresa Municípia – Empresa de Cartografia e Sistemas de Informação, E.M, S.A, no departamento de Engenharia e Infraestruturas.O projecto apresentado consiste no desenvolvimento de um Sistema de Informação Geográfica capaz de permitir a gestão de dados relativos às expropriações que levaram a cabo a obra do metro do Porto, uma obra de interesse público. Para concretizar a obra referida, a Metro do Porto S.A., empresa responsável pela construção do metro do Porto, recorreu ao código das Expropriações de forma a poder expropriar inúmeras parcelas de terreno. Deste procedimento expropriativo, resultou uma quantidade volumosa de documentos com informação detalhada relativa a cada parcela de terreno. Para a organização de toda esta informação, resultante do procedimento expropriativo, a Municípia desenvolveu uma Base de Dados Geográfica e uma solução SIG, baseada em software de código aberto. Este tipo de software apresenta grande vantagem neste contexto, visto que para além das suas grandes potencialidade, apresenta baixo custo para a empresa e capacidade de se adaptar às suas necessidades. A metodologia adoptada englobou a elaboração do modelo de dados, a implementação da solução SIG e o carregamento de dados relativos às parcelas expropriadas. O suporte para armazenamento e processamento de dados espaciais aplicado foi um sistema de gestão de base de dados relacional orientado a objectos (SGBDOR), o PostgreSQL/PostGis, capaz de inter-relacionar toda a informação pertinente. A solução SIG seleccionada foi o Quantum GIS (QGIS), um software livre de código aberto que permite aos utilizadores a consulta e a exploração da informação geográfica e garante o acesso e edição de dados em PostgreSQL/PostGIS, uma das características do QGIS relevante para este caso é a capacidade de suportar bases de dados geográficas PostgreSQL/PostGIS.Com este projecto obteve-se uma base de dados relacional robusta capaz de armazenar toda a informação existente, na qual se pode facilmente aceder à localização geográfica de uma determinada parcela e obter toda a informação correspondente ao respectivo procedimento expropriativo. Esta capacidade de aceder a uma determinada entidade georeferenciada com a informação respectiva só é possível graças à conjugação dos SIG com bases de dados relacionais e exemplifica a importância e utilidade que estes apresentam na actualidade. Os softwares livres de código aberto e os de código aberto surgem assim como soluções alternativas aos softwares proprietários, e igualmente capazes, para fazer face aos vários desafios que se colocam no quotidiano de empresas de variadas áreas assim como aos utilizadores privados.

Nowadays, the World Wide Web (WWW) is simultaneously an accumulator and a provider of huge
amounts of information, which is delivered to users through news, blogs, social networks, etc.
The exponential growth of information is a major challenge for the community in general, since
the frequent demand and correlation of news becomes a repetitive task, potentially tedious and
prone to errors. Although information scrutiny is still performed manually and on a regular basis
by most people, the emergence of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) systems in recent years for
monitoring, selection and extraction of textual information from social networks and the Web
promise to change the life of some of them. These systems are now very popular and useful
tools for professionals from different areas, such as the cyber-security community, where being
updated with the latest news and trends can lead to a direct impact on threat response.
This work aims to address the previously motivated problem through the implementation of a
dynamic OSINT system. For this system, two algorithms were developed: one to dynamically
add, remove and rate user accounts with relevant tweets in the computer security area; and
another one to classify the publications of those users. The relevance of a user depends not
only on how frequently he publishes, but also on his importance (status) in the social network,
as well as on the relevance of the information published by him. Text mining functions are
proposed herein to achieve the objective of measuring the relevance of text segments.
The proposed approach is innovative, involving dynamic management of the relevance of users
and their publications, thus ensuring a more reliable and important source of information framework.
Apart from the algorithms and functions on which they were build (which were also proposed
in the scope of this work), this dissertation describes several experiments and tests used
in their evaluation. The qualitative results are very interesting and demonstrate the practical
usefulness of the approach. In terms of human-machine interface, a mural of information,
generated dynamically and automatically from the social network Twitter, is provided to the
end-user. In the current version of the system, the mural is presented in the form of a web
page, highlighting the news by its relevancy (red for high relevance, yellow for moderate relevance,
and green for low relevance).
The main contributions of this work are the two proposed algorithms and their evaluation. A
fully working prototype of a system with their implementation, along with a mural for showing
selected news, is another important output of this work.<br>Atualmente, a World Wide Web (WWW) fornece aos utilizadores enormes quantidades de informação
sob os mais diversos formatos: notícias, blogs, nas redes sociais, entre outros. O
crescimento exponencial desta informação representa um grande desafio para a comunidade
em geral, uma vez que a procura e correlação frequente de notícias acaba por se tornar numa
tarefa repetitiva, potencialmente aborrecida e sujeita a erros. Apesar da maioria das pessoas
ainda fazer o escrutínio da informação de forma manual e regularmente, têm surgido, nos
últimos anos, sistemas Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) que efetuam a vigilância, seleção e
extração de informação textual, a partir de redes sociais e da web em geral. Estes sistemas são
hoje ferramentas muito populares e úteis aos profissionais de diversas áreas, como a da cibersegurança,
onde estar atualizado com as notícias e as tendências mais recentes pode levar a um
impacto direto na reação a ameaças.
O objetivo deste trabalho passa pela tentativa de solucionar o problema motivado anteriormente,
através da implementação de um sistema dinâmico OSINT. Para este sistema foram desenvolvidos
dois algoritmos: um para adicionar, remover e classificar, dinamicamente, contas
de utilizadores com tweets relevantes na área da segurança informática e outro para classificar
as publicações desses utilizadores. A relevância de um utilizador depende não só da sua
frequência de publicação mas também da sua importância (status) na rede social, bem como a
relevância da informação publicada. Neste último ponto, são propostas funções de prospeção
de texto que permitem medir a relevância de segmentos de texto.
A abordagem proposta é inovadora, envolvendo gestão dinâmica da relevância dos utilizadores
e das suas publicações, garantindo assim um quadro de fonte de informação mais fidedigna
e importante. Para além dos algoritmos e das funções que os compõem (também propostas
no contexto deste trabalho), esta dissertação descreve várias experiências e testes usados na
sua avaliação. Os resultados qualitativos constatados são pertinentes, denotando uma elevada
utilidade prática. Em termos de interface homem-máquina, é disponibilizado um mural de informação
contínua que vai sendo gerado dinâmica e automaticamente, a partir da rede social
Twitter, e apresentado sob a forma de uma página web, destacando as notícias apresentadas
pelo grau de relevância que possuem (vermelho para relevância elevada, amarelo para relevância
moderada e verde para relevância reduzida).
As contribuições principais deste trabalho compreendem os dois algoritmos propostos e a sua
avaliação. Um protótipo totalmente funcional de um sistema que os implementa, acompanhado
pelo mural que mostra as notícias selecionadas, constituem outro resultado importante do
trabalho.

Dissertação de mestrado integrado em Engenharia de Polímeros<br>A crescente exigência dos mercados obriga as empresas a investirem cada vez mais na
inovação, quer dos produtos que desenvolvem, quer dos processos e metodologias utilizadas para
os desenvolver. A presente tese de mestrado foi desenvolvida em ambiente industrial com a
colaboração da empresa EDINyourideas e é uma continuidade do trabalho realizado durante o
primeiro semestre na unidade curricular “Projecto individual”, que se baseou na identificação de
uma oportunidade de produto e desenvolvimento de metodologias de processo.
O produto a desenvolver consiste num sistema alternativo, em plástico, de abertura de
portas accionado pelo pé, destinado à aplicação em locais públicos, nomeadamente casas de
banho (compartimento individual). Ao longos dos anos assistiu-se a um grande desenvolvimento
no sentido de reduzir o contacto das mãos nesses locais, aumentando assim o nível de higiene,
particularmente através de caixotes do lixo e autoclismos com sensores ou de pedal. No entanto
esta redução do contacto é inútil quando os métodos de abertura de portas continuam
rudimentares e recorrendo à utilização da mão.
O tema desta dissertação de mestrado baseia-se então na concepção e desenvolvimento
desse produto. Contudo, é preciso ter em consideração que o desenvolvimento de peças, neste
caso em plástico, é uma tarefa muito complexa que requer, além de uma vasta equipa, a
intervenção simultânea de diversas áreas, bem como a consideração de aspectos essenciais ao
projecto, de forma a obter um produto final esteticamente atraente, com boa funcionalidade,
resistência mecânica e baixo custo de produção. Este trabalho é composto então por cinco fases
principais: desenvolvimento preliminar do produto, projecto mecânico, optimização tecnológica,
definição das tecnologias de transformação e avaliação económica ao projecto.
Em conclusão, pretende-se a obtenção de um produto que satisfaça da melhor forma
possível as necessidades dos clientes, reduzindo assim o contacto das mãos com determinados
objectos em locais públicos e por sua vez possíveis contaminações. Por outro lado, espera-se a
criação de uma nova metodologia de desenvolvimento de novos produtos mais dinâmica e
detalhada que possa servir de suporte na concepção de outros produtos e que vise, principalmente
o aumento da qualidade, a diminuição do ciclo de desenvolvimento e a redução de custos.<br>The increasing demands of the market, not only requires that companies invest more in
the innovation of the products they develop, but also in the processes and methodologies involved
in their creation. This dissertation was developed in an industrial environment in conjunction with
the company “EDINyourideas” and deepens the work performed during the first semester, in the
course “Projecto individual”, that consisted in the identification of a new product opportunity and
development of methodologies of process.
The product that was developed, consists of a new system made of plastic, capable of
opening doors using the foot, that is intended to be used in public places, more specifically, in
public bathrooms. Over the years several solutions like the use of trash bins and toilet flushes that
are operated by foot, were used to avoid the contact of human hands with that kind of surfaces, in
an attempt to increase the overall hygiene in that kind of places. Unfortunately, the current use of
rudimentary door opening mechanisms, that require hand contact, defeats the purpose of using
more advanced solutions such as trash bins operated by foot.
The theme of this dissertation is then the conception and development of a product that
permits opening doors using the foot only. It is necessary to be aware that the development of
parts, in particular, plastic parts, is a very complex task that not only requires the consideration of
the essential aspects of the project, but also requires taking into account several other aspects,
namely, the necessity of using large teams and the multidisciplinary nature of this kind of projects,
in order to obtain a final product that is functional, esthetically good, resistant and cheap to
produce. This work is constituted by five main phases: prelaminar product development,
mechanical project, technological optimization, definition of the technologies of transformation and
the economical evaluation of the project.
In conclusion, it is desired to obtain a product that satisfies the client needs the best way possible,
reducing the contact of the client hands with certain objects in public places, avoiding that way
possible contaminations derived of such contact. On the other side, it is expected a creation of a
new product development methodology, more dynamic and detailed, which may serve as a support
for development of other products, with the objectives of increasing the product quality, focused
on client necessities, development cycle reduction and cost reduction.
