Abstract:

Certaines formes de myopathies telles que la dystrophie musculaire de Duchenne entraînent une dégénérescence progressive des muscles chez le patient. Ceci se traduit par l’apparition d’une scoliose dont la gravité augmente au cours du temps. La norme clinique pour le suivi de la scoliose consiste à réaliser un examen radiographique. Malheureusement, l’exposition répétée aux rayons X est nocive pour la santé du patient. L’échographie est une technique d’imagerie médicale non irradiante qui utilise des ondes ultrasonores (US). Cependant, l’interprétation des échographies de vertèbres est souvent difficile en raison de la qualité variable des images. En réponse à ce défi, nous présentons une méthode pour localiser automatiquement les vertèbres sur les échographies. La validation de cette approche reproductible laisse à penser qu’il serait possible, à terme, de remplacer une partie des examens radiographiques standards par l’échographie.

Abstract. The MEMO (MEsure Multicomposante des Ondes) experiment is a part of the INTERBALL 2 wave consortium. It is connected to a total of six electric and nine magnetic independent sensors. It provides waveforms associated with the measurement of two to five components in three frequency bands: ELF (5–1000 Hz), VLF (1–20 kHz), LF (20–250 kHz). Preliminary analyses of low and high resolution data are presented. The emphasis is put on the estimation of the propagation characteristics of the observed waves.VLF hiss emissions are shown to be mainly whistler mode emissions, but other modes are present. An accurate estimation of the local plasma frequency is proposed when the low L = 0 cutoff frequency is identified. AKR emissions observed just above source regions are studied. R-X and L-O modes are found: the first at the lowest frequencies and the second at the highest. Both propagate with wave normal directions weakly oblique or quasi-parallel to the Earth's magnetic field direction. Propagation characteristics are also determined for a (non-drifting) fine structure of AKR. There is no fundamental difference with structurless events. Nightside and dayside bursts of ELF electromagnetic emissions are presented. It is not clear whether the two emissions belong to the "lion roar" emissions or not.Key words. Abstract:

As a continuation of our research on the biological activity of undecan-x-ones (x = 2-4), their antimicrobial activity towards bacteria Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis, yeast Candida mycoderma and mould Aspergillus niger, was investigated. The population viability of the tested microbial strains in the presence of undecan-x-ones was determined by the impedimetric and agar disc diffusion methods. Undecan-x-ones showed low antibacterial activity towards both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Undecan-2-one and undecan-3-one exhibited high activity towards C. mycoderma. All undecan-x-ones expressed the strongest effect on A. niger. The tests have proven that due to high fungistatic activity undecan-x-ones can be used to aid stabilization of food and cosmetic matrices.

Abstract:

Uma boa moldagem é fundamental para o sucesso do processo reabilitador. O uso da técnica convencional utilizando o silicone de adição ainda se faz presente em muitos consultórios, pois é confiável e precisa. Porém com as inovações e avanços tecnológicos na odontologia, a técnica de impressão digital vem sendo aperfeiçoada há mais de 30 anos. Necessita-se saber se esta técnica atingiu os mesmos níveis de precisões e confiabilidades que a convencional. Este trabalho tem como objetivo, comparar a moldagem convencional com silicone de adição e a moldagem digital, quanto à precisão, adaptação marginal e biossegurança, assim realizou-se uma revisão de literatura utilizando as bases de dados PUBMED, SCIELO E BVS através das palavras-chave: “CAD/CAM”, “impressão convencional”, “impressão digital”, “impressão de arco total”, “silicone de adição” e “precisão”. O resultado da análise mostrou que, embora os materiais de impressão convencionais possuam ótima precisão, eles possuem algumas desvantagens, como desconforto para o paciente, causam muita sujeira, possuem várias etapas que possibilitam maior risco de causar imperfeições, e exigem uma maior experiência do profissional, enquanto as impressões digitais são mais confortáveis para os pacientes, mais ágeis e mais fáceis de usar. Ambas as técnicas de impressões digitais e convencionais demonstraram ser capazes de produzir resultados clinicamente aceitáveis, então os cirurgiões dentistas deverão basear a sua escolha de acordo com o conceito que melhor se adapta à sua prática clínica atual e o trabalho que deseja realizar. Abstract:

A new compound has been found in the system Bi13B0.48V0.49-x PxO21.45 (with 0≤x≤0.34), were prepared by the direct solid-state reaction of Bi2O3, (NH4)2HPO4, V2O5, and B2O3. This material melts congruently and it crystallize with the sillenite structure (space group I23) and form a solid solution with the cubic lattice parameter increasing from with a = 10.1568 Å to 10.1436 Å with increasing of P2O5 molar. Consequently, the new composites belong to g-variety of solid state. The samples have been characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), diffraction XRD and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled to the EDX. On the other hand, the valorization of the prepared composites was performed by using them as heterogeneous catalyst in the 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones derivatives synthesis. Abstract:

The title compound generates diffraction patterns which are indexable within the framework of the higher-dimensional description of incommensurate structures. However, it is difficult to discriminate the main reflections from the satellite ones. This paper has clarified that the structure can be treated as a strongly modulated structure with sawtooth-like modulation functions and is classified as an incommensurate crystallographic shear (CS) structure. The structure consists of domains isostructural to β-Bi2Ti4O11 and domain boundaries composed of TiO6 octahedra. Ba and Bi ions are accommodated in the cavities between TiO6 octahedra in the domain. Domain boundaries are aperiodically inserted, in contrast to the usual CS structures, forming an incommensurate structure.

Abstract:

Foram utilizadas 25 fêmeas, distribuídas de acordo com o grau de sangue Holandês x Zebu nos grupos: I = 1/2 Holandês x Zebu; II = 3/4 Holandês x Zebu; III= 15/16 Holandês x Zebu; IV= Holandês--PB<FONT FACE=Symbol>¾</FONT>PC; e V= 7/8 Holandês x Zebu. Após o segundo estro natural pós-parto, esses animais foram monitorados por exames ultra-sonográficos diários por dois ciclos estrais consecutivos, para verificar a atividade ovariana quanto à dinâmica folicular e à atividade do corpo lúteo. O período interovulatório médio foi de 22,08±2,46 dias, sendo de 21,76±3,33 e 21,94±2,90 dias no primeiro e no segundo ciclo estral, respectivamente, não havendo diferença entre os grupos estudados. Observou-se o crescimento de uma (6%), duas (78%) e três (16%) ondas foliculares durante o ciclo estral, com a predominância de duas ondas foliculares. O período interovulatório dos ciclos com três ondas mostrou-se mais longo (25,33±4,37 dias), em comparação com uma (16,0±3,6 dias) e duas (21,83±1,77 dias) ondas foliculares. A duração das ondas foliculares para ciclos estrais com três ondas de crescimento folicular foi de 11,0±3,69; 7,17±1,60; e 8,5±1,52 dias na 1ª, 2ª e 3ª ondas, respectivamente, e de 11,15±1,65 e 12,07±2,32 dias nos ciclos estrais com duas ondas foliculares. Os dias de maior concentração plasmática de progesterona no 1º e 2º ciclos estrais foram, respectivamente, de 13,6±3,0 (7,29±4,3 ng/mL) e 11,8±3,4 (5,6±2,0 ng/mL) dias, não se mostrando diferentes entre os grupamentos genéticos e ciclos estrais estudados. Pelas análises dos dados, pode-se concluir que os diferentes grupamentos genéticos apresentaram o mesmo comportamento na dinâmica folicular e que as concentrações de progesterona, embora diferentes em números absolutos entre os grupamentos, mostraram-se indicativas de atividade luteal normal.

Abstract:

Thermal transformations of 3-azido-4H-quinolizin-4-ones 4a,b and 3-azido-4H-azino[1,2–x]pyrimidin-4-ones 4c,d, available from the corresponding heteroarylamines 2a–d, were studied. The reaction products were mostly dependent on the solvent. Thus, heating of 3-azido-1-cyano-4H-quinolizin-4-one (4a) in toluene afforded 2-(pyridin-2-yl)fumaronitrile 5a, whereas 3-amino-1-cyano-4H-quinolizin-4-one (8) was obtained on treatment of 4a in a mixture of toluene and trifluoroacetic anhydride. However, heating of 4a in acetic anhydride and in acetic acid resulted in a ring contraction to produce 3-(diacetylamino)indolizine-1-carbonitrile 6a and 3-(acetylamino)indolizine-1-carbonitrile 7a, respectively. Similarly, ring contractions took place on heating ethyl 3-azido-4-oxo-4H-quinolizin-1-carboxylate 4b and 3-azido-4H-azino[1,2–x]pyrimidin-4-ones 4c,d in acetic anhydride or acetic acid to produce the N-acetylated 3-aminoindolizine derivatives 6b, 7b and 3-aminoimidazo[1,2–x]azine derivatives 6c,d in 30–89% yields. The structures of compounds 5–8 were determined by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.

Abstract:

The study aims at analyzing the difference of problem solving skills between: (1) the students taught by using problem-based learning model and the ones taught by using guided inquiry learning model, (2) the students taught by using problerm-based learning model and the ones taught by using guided inquiry learning model with male gender, (3) the students taught by using problem-based learning model and the ones taught by using guided inquiry learning model with female gender, and (4) the interaction between problem-based and quided inquiry learning model and gender on problem solving skills of students. The study is quasi-experiment research with treatment by level 2x2 design. The research population was all students of grade X MIA at SMAN 9 Makassar. The technique used in talking the sample was simple random sampling and obtained grade X MIA5 and X MIA7 as the experiment classes and grade X MIA8 and X MIA9 as the control classes. The results of the study reveal that (1) there is a difference of problem solving skills between students taught by using problem-based learning model and the ones taught by using guided inquiry learning model, (2) for male gender students, there is a difference between the ones taught by using problem-based skills and ones taught by using quided inquiry learning model, (3) for female gender students, there is a difference between the ones taught by using problem-based skills and the ones taught by using quided inquiry learning model, and (4) there is no interaction between learning model and gender on problem solving skills of students. This study is expected to be a reference in determining the strategy and innovative learning model to improve learning quality so the students are active in learning process, thus it can improve problem solving skills of students.

By covalently coupling an undecagold complex to an Fab’ fragment, the smallest gold-conjugated antibody label yet devised has been synthesized. Its overall dimension is 50 x 30 x 20 Å and when bound to an antigen, the gold cluster is 40-50 Å from the antigen surface. The preparation procedure does not alter the activity and specificity of the antibody since coupling of the gold cluster is at a crystallographically known position at the opposite end of the Fab’ fragment from the antigen combining site.One significance of this new label is that with a smaller E.M. antibody label, higher resolution of labeling is possible. In fact, if monoclonals are used, specific sites on a single macromolecule, or subunits of a protein complex could be mapped.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o crescimento de clone de Eucalyptus urophylla x E. grandis em diferentes espaçamentos, entre o terceiro e o sexto ano de idade, em Avaré, SP. Os tratamentos consistiram dos espaçamentos de plantio 3,0 x 1,0; 3,0 x 1,5; 3,0 x 2,0 e 3,0 x 2,5 m. Foram realizadas avaliações de DAP (diâmetro a 1,30 m da superfície do solo) e altura, e aos seis anos foi calculado o volume por árvore. Desde a idade de três anos, as plantas do espaçamento 3,0 x 1,0 m apresentaram valores médios de altura e DAP inferiores às plantas dos demais espaçamentos. Na idade de seis anos, as árvores dos espaçamentos 3,0 x 2,5 e 3,0 x 2,0 m apresentaram crescimento médio significativamente superior as do espaçamento 3,0 x 1,0 m. Com base no diâmetro médio das árvores e na estimativa do volume por hectare, conclui-se que o espaçamento mais indicado para o sítio em que o trabalho foi realizado é o 3,0 x 2,0 m.Palavras-chave: Densidade de plantio; Eucalyptus urograndis; sítio florestal. Treatments consisted of planting space as follows: 3,0 x 1,0; 3,0 x 1,5; 3,0 x 2,0 and 3,0 x 2,5 m. We evaluated DAP (diameter of soil) and height. We calculated the volume per tree of the six years old ones. Since the age of 3 years, plants in space 3,0 x 1,0 m had mean height and DAP lower than the ones in different spacing. At age 6, the trees of spacing 3,0 x 2,5 and 3,0 x 2,0 m revealed significantly higher average growth than the ones in spacing of 3,0 x 1,0 m. Abstract:

The Na-X (X = Si, Ag, Cu, Cr) systems have been critically reviewed and modeled by means of the CALPHAD approach. The two compounds, NaSi and Ag2Na, are treated as stoichiometric ones. By means of first-principles calculations, the enthalpies of formation at 0 K for the LT-NaSi (low temperature form of NaSi) and Ag2Na have been computed to be -5210 and -29821.8 Jmol-1, respectively, with the desire to assist thermodynamic modeling. One set of self-consistent thermodynamic parameters is obtained for each of these binary systems. Comparisons between calculated and measured phase diagrams show that most of the experimental information can be satisfactorily accounted for by the present thermodynamic descriptions.

A sinterização ultrarrápida por micro-ondas é uma técnica que oferece enorme potencial para a fabricação de diversos materiais cerâmicos com microestruturas cerâmicas diferenciadas. Assim, este trabalho teve por objetivo sinterizar compósitos cerâmicos do tipo mulita-cordierita em forno de micro-ondas. Para realizar essa pesquisa, foi utilizado um compósito 60%mulita-40%cordierita, originário da empresa Scimarec Co. Amostras desse compósito foram sinterizadas em forno convencional e por sinterização ultrarrápida em forno de micro-ondas. A caracterização foi feita por difratometria de raios X, microscopia eletrônica de varredura e determinação de densidade aparente. A sinterização ultrarápida do compósito por micro-ondas foi realizada em menos de 10% do tempo gasto para realizar a sinterização convencional e apresentou mesmos mecanismos de sinterização com potencia e tempo controlados.
