Abstract:
Nacre is a multilayered film material consisting of alternating layers of aragonitic tablets and organic membranes (OMs). However, at this time, no authors have discussed the growth mode of nacre from the perspective of the science of typical film materials. Here, for the first time, we focus on measuring the contact angles of the nacre growth surface (GS) using the contact angle meter. Additionally, we also investigate the GS's structure and phases using field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometer, respectively. We firstly found that: (1) The contact angles of the GS are always greater than 90°, with a maximum value of 113° and minimum value of 91°, indicating that the GS is hydrophobic. (2) The growth mode of GS is similar to the island growth mode (V-W) of the typical films. (3) The hydrophobicity of OMs plays an important role in the nucleation and growth of nacre. This research may provide new insights into the mechanism underlying nacre formation. In the field of thin-film, this conclusion will provide a new direction for the preparation and research of hydrophobic substrates, and a new idea for the development of thin-film technology.

Abstract:
AbstractOmsite (IMA 2012-025) is a new mineral from the Correc d'en Llinassos, Oms, Pyrénées-Orientales Department, France. It occurs as bright yellow to amber yellow discoidal tablets, flattened on {001}, which form rosettes typically 50–100 μm in diameter. Omsite generally crystallizes on siderite without associated supergene minerals; it occurs less commonly with glaukosphaerite. Crystals have a vitreous to resinous lustre, and are transparent to translucent. Omsite is not fluorescent in either short-wave or long-wave ultraviolet light. It has an estimated hardness of 3 on the Mohs' scale, is brittle with an irregular fracture, and has one poor cleavage on {001}. The calculated density is 3.378 g cm–3. Crystals are uniaxial (–), with indices of refraction of ω = 1.728(3) and ε = 1.66(1), measured in white light. Pleochroism is ω = orange-yellow, ε = pale orange-yellow; ω > ε. The empirical formula [based on 12 (OH + Cl) p.f.u.] is (Ni1.0992+Cu0.6652+Mg0.107Fe0.0453+)Σ 1.916Fe1.0003+(Sb0.9475+As0.072Na0.029)Σ1.048OH11.967Cl0.033. Omsite crystallizes in space group P, with unit-cell parameters a = 5.3506(8), c = 19.5802(15) Å, V = 485.46(10) Å3 and Z = 2 determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The five strongest lines in the X-ray powder diffraction pattern [d in Å, (Irel), (hkl)] are as follows: 4.901, (100), (004); 4.575, (83), (011); 2.3539, (81), (11); 1.8079, (48), (11); 3.781, (34), (103). The crystal structure was solved to R1 = 0.0896 for 356 observed reflections [Fo>4σFo] and 0.1018 for all the 469 unique reflections. Omsite is a layered double hydroxide (LDH) mineral, with a topology consistent with members of the hydrotalcite supergroup and cualstibite group.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The electrochemical capacitors (ECs) have attracted a great attention as a rechargeable strage device with a high power density and high safety. An increase in specific capacity is demanded to use ECs in various applications. MnO2 are expected as electrodes of ECs because of their large oxidation state change (Mn4+ Mn2+), low cost and environmental compatibility. When all manganese ions in the MnO2 are completely reduced to Mn2+ from Mn4+ over a potential window of 1.1 V, the theoretical capacity is estimated to about 2000 Fg-1. However, the reported capacity of MnO2 electrodes are 100250 Fg-1 [1-2] for powders and around 700 Fg-1 [3] for thin films. Tunnel structured MnO2 are expected to show high capacities by utilizing high ionic mobility in the tunnel and high surface area of tunnel walls. Fig. 1 shows crystal structures of (a) Pyrolusite (Tunnel size: 1×1), (b) Hollandite (Tunnel size: 2×2) and (c) OMS-5 (Tunnel size: 2×4) and (d) MnO6 unit. In the present study, the relationship between the tunnel size and the specific capacity was investigated for those tunnel structured MnO2. In addition, Hollandite /carbon composites were synthesized to improve the electrode properties of Hollandite.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The life of people with disabilities are marked by adverse situations, like architectural barriers, communication barriers and attitudinal barriers, This group also suffers from violent situations in their daily lifes, such as physical and verbal aggression. In the current scientific production, there is few researches that investigates the discourse of the person victim of violence, a fact that, on one hand, may characterize some ignorance of the situations experienced by these people, and, on the other hand, may result in discredit of the discourse of people with disabilities. The objective of this research was to investigate the violence experienced by people with disabilities through a case study of a young person with physical disability. The research was descriptive and had a qualitative nature, using the theoretical framework of the Sociology of disability, Violence and Stigma. Semi-structured interview was conducted, using Comprehensive Sociology as a data analysis tool. The results showed that insults and exclusions are a part of the daily life of the young, actions that can be classified as bullying. The young experience several conflicts in the school environment, having some of these conflicts resolved through the mediation of professionals. Violence against people with disabilities is a dynamic and recurring phenomenon, requiring prevention and intervention programs in the school and other researches on the theme that focuses on the victim point of view. Keywords: Violence, Disabled Persons, Stigma, Bullying.ReferencesABRAMOVAY, M. Abstract:
Organic-rich shales were found in the Ordovician to Silurian Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation in northwestern Guizhou province, China, which has high shale gas content revealed by field measurement. Shale gas occurrence, free gas/sorbed gas ratio, and their influencing factors are crucial for shale gas exploitation strategy. Results indicated that the Wufeng-Longmaxi shales are dominated by type I kerogen, with total organic carbon (TOC) and equivalent vitrinite reflectance (eqvRo) of 0.77%–6.98% and 2.37%–2.53%, respectively. The total porosity and permeability are in the range of 1.23%–8.43% and 3 × 10 − 4 – 2.23 × 10 − 1 mD, respectively. FE-SEM observation and correlation analysis show shale porosity is dominated by organic matter (OM) pores, followed by interparticle (interP) pores related to brittle minerals. CH4, derived from oil cracking, is the main component of shale gas, but its proportion is lower than that in Fuling and Weiyuan areas, probably due to the weak preservation condition. Desorption gas and lost gas determined by in situ desorption test are 0.42–1.54 cm3/g and 1.9–7.14 cm3/g, respectively, and Langmuir volume ( V L ) from isothermal adsorption experiment is 1.63–4.78 cm3/g. Shale gas content is positively correlated with micropore volume, mesopore volume and TOC content but negatively correlated with macropore volume and clay mineral content, indicating that methane is preferentially stored in micropores (<2 nm) and mesopores (2–50 nm) related to OMs. By comparing actual total gas content with theoretical gas content, shale gas is considered to exist primarily in sorbed state, and the free gas proportion can increase with increased TOC content, due to that OM pores with larger sizes are also main space for free gas. Combined with the two methods, it can result in accurate calculations of shale gas reserves and free/sorbed gas ratio. Based on this understanding, a model of shale gas occurrence was proposed, which can provide a reference for shale gas exploitation in normal pressure areas.

Abstract:
Phase change memory (PCM) is a high speed, high density non-volatile resistive memory technology that utilizes different phases (crystalline and amorphous) of phase change materials such as Ge2Sb2Te5 (GST) to store information [1]. Here, the material undergoes two types of reversible switching phenomena: (i) Ovonic Threshold Switching (OTS), which causes the amorphous phase of the material to switch from a highly resistive state to conductive state with application of high electric fields, resulting in current flow and (ii) Ovonic Memory Switching (OMS), which is due to the change of the phase of the material between amorphous and crystalline phases induced by heating [2]. Even though PCM entered high volume manufacturing, the electronic properties of the phase change materials are still not well understood [3,4]. In this work, we construct the energy band diagram of amorphous GST as a function of temperature using a temperature dependent model of effective activation energy of conduction in metastable amorphous GST [5], which we obtained from high-speed experiments on GST line-cells [6]. Assuming the bandgap energy to linearly decrease with temperature [7,8] and p-type conduction (based on positive Seebeck coefficients measured in a wide temperature range [9]) , we determine a temperature dependent Fermi energy level from 0K to melting temperature, Tmelt ~ 858 K. Liquid GST is expected to become metallic (bandgap collapsing to 0) at ~ 894K, based on the experimental results. We also estimate the carrier concentration at Tmelt utilizing the latent heat of fusion (126 kJ/kg) [10] to be pmelt = 1.47 x 1022 cm-3. Using the melt resistivity measured on GST thin film, we calculate the carrier mobility at melting point as µmelt ~0.187 cm2/V-s, close to the previously reported value of 0.15 cm2/V-s based on crystalline state mobility and a density of states calculation [2]. Assuming a weak temperature dependence of the mobility [5], we obtain the carrier concentration of ~3.37× 1017 cm-3 at room temperature which lies within the ~1017-1018 cm-3 range estimated in a former study [3]. Finally, we calculate conduction activation energy of as-deposited amorphous GST from temperature dependent Seebeck coefficient measured simultaneously with the resistance [9]. The activation energy varies as a parabolic function of temperature where it starts from 0 eV at 0 K, reaches a peak of ~0.257 eV near glass transition temperature (~400 K) with the room temperature value of ~0.24 eV and becomes 0 eV again at ~810 K. We also utilize the Seebeck coefficient measurements along with the band edges and Fermi energy level information from the energy band diagram to calculate the ratio of minority carrier concentration to the total carrier concentration as a function of temperature; this is useful to predict the temperature beyond which bipolar conduction becomes significant. Abstract:
Abstract:
The aims of this study were to identify the role and sites of action of serine proteinases (SPs) in bone resorption, a process which involves a cascade of events, the central step of which is the removal of bone matrix by osteoclasts (OCs). This resorbing activity, however, is also determined by recruitment of new OCs to future resorption sites and removal of the osteoid layer by osteoblasts (OBs), which enables OCs to gain access to the underlying mineralized bone. The resorption systems we have studied consisted of (i) neonatal calvarial explants, (ii) isolated OCs cultured on ivory slices, (iii) mouse OBs cultured on either radiolabelled type I collagen films or bone-like matrix, (iv) bone marrow cultures to assess OC formation and (v) 17-day-old fetal mouse metatarsal bone rudiments to assess OC migration and fusion. Two separate SP inhibitors, aprotinin and alpha(2)-antiplasmin dose-dependently inhibited (45)Ca release from neonatal calvarial explants: aprotinin (10(-6) M) was the most effective SP inhibitor, producing a maximum inhibitory effect of 55.9%.Neither of the SP inhibitors influenced either OC formation or OC resorptive activity. In contrast, each SP inhibitor dose-dependently inhibited OB-mediated degradation of both type I collagen fibrils and non-mineralized bone matrix. In 17-day-old metatarsal explants aprotinin produced a 55% reduction in the migration of OCs from the periosteum to the mineralized matrix after 3 days in culture but after 6 days in culture aprotinin was without effect on OC migration. Primary mouse osteoblasts expressed mRNA for urokinase type plasminogen activator (uPA), tIssue type plasminogen activator (tPA), the type I receptor for uPA, plasminogen activator inhibitor types I and II and the broad spectrum serine proteinase inhibitor, protease nexin I. In situ hybridization demonstrated expression of tPA and uPA in osteoclasts disaggregated from 6-day-old mouse long bones. We propose that the regulation of these various enzyme systems within bone tIssue determines the sites where bone resorption will be initiated.

Abstract:
Purpose The effects of ovarian function suppression (OFS) on survival and patient-reported outcomes were evaluated in a phase III trial in which premenopausal women were randomly assigned to tamoxifen with or without OFS. Patients and Methods Premenopausal women with axillary node-negative, hormone receptor–positive breast cancer tumors measuring ≤ 3 cm were randomly assigned to tamoxifen alone versus tamoxifen plus OFS; adjuvant chemotherapy was not permitted. Primary end points were disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). Secondary end points included toxicity and patient-reported outcomes. Patient-reported outcome data included health-related quality of life, menopausal symptoms, and sexual function. These were evaluated at baseline, 6 months, 12 months, and then annually for up to 5 years after registration. Results In all, 345 premenopausal women were enrolled: 171 on tamoxifen alone and 174 on tamoxifen plus OFS. With a median follow-up of 9.9 years, there was no significant difference between arms for DFS (5-year rate: 87.9% v 89.7%; log-rank P = .62) or OS (5-year rate: 95.2% v 97.6%; log-rank P = .67). Grade 3 or higher toxicity was more common in the tamoxifen plus OFS arm (22.4% v 12.3%; P = .004). Patients treated with tamoxifen plus OFS had more menopausal symptoms, lower sexual activity, and inferior health-related quality of life at 3-year follow-up (P < .01 for all). Differences diminished with further follow-up. Conclusion When added to tamoxifen, OFS results in more menopausal symptoms and sexual dysfunction, which contributes to inferior self-reported health-related quality of life. Because of early closure, this study is underpowered for drawing conclusions about the impact on survival when adding OFS to tamoxifen.

Abstract:
Mannich reaction of thiacyclohexan-4-one with dimethylamine and paraformaldehyde afforded 3-(dimethylaminomethyl)thiacyclohexan-4-one (XIV) which was subjected to reactions with a series of arylmagnesium bromides. The products were mixtures of trans- and cis-amino alcohols III-XII from which the predominating trans-components were mostly obtained by crystallization of hydrochlorides or chromatography of bases. The tramadol (I) analogue, i.e. the 3-methoxy compound V, was prepared in the form of both racemates and their relative configuration was confirmed by the IR spectra. Compound V was demethylated to the 3-hydroxyphenyl analogue XIII, transformed to the bis-onium salt XVI, partially N-demethylated to the N-monodemethyl analogue XVII, and oxidized to the sulfoxide XX and to the sulfone N-oxide XXI. Some of the amino alcohols (III-V, VIII, IX, XIII) showed clear analgetic activity in the writhing syndrome inhibition test in mice; the 3-methoxy and 3-hydroxy compounds (V and XIII) were the most active ones, the latter being slightly more active than tramadol (I).

Abstract:
High density of thermally stable Y-Si-O nanoparticles dispersed in the Fe matrix play a primary role in oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) steel. In this study, the binding energies of solutes Y, O and Si with vacancies have been calculated in the framework of first-principles density functional theory. According to the calculations, any two solutes of Y, O and Si bound with each other strongly in the second nearest neighboring (NN) sites while not in 1NN. A vacancy (v) bounds strongly with Y and O in 1NN site. The binding sequence of solutes with v followed O-v → Y-v → Si-v, and the affinity of Y, Si and v with O followed O-Y → O-v → O-Si. The nucleation mechanism of Y-O-Si nanoclusters was determined, which gave the feasibility of adding Si to ODS steels. The core (consisting of Si and O)-shell (enriched Fe and Cr) structure of the microparticles was found in ODS steels containing Si, fabricated by mechanical alloying (MA) and vacuum sintering. Moreover the nanoparticles of monoclinic cubic Y2O3, Y2SiO5 and Y2Si2O7 with sizes of 5~12 nm were observed in ODS steel. Si reduced the sintering temperature by maximizing densities and mechanical properties at a lower sintering temperature. The steel with 3 wt% Si was sintered at 1280 °C, exhibiting the best comprehensive mechanical properties. The tensile strength, hardness and relative density were 1025 MPa, 442.44 HV and 95.3%, respectively.

Abstract In this work, in situ non-perturbing method of optical emission spectroscopy is used to examine the features of the emission spectra of NF3/Xe plasma, which can be used for the process of continuous plasma-chemical etching of lithium niobate. To understand the physicochemical processes occurring in plasma, the influence of high-frequency power, pressure in the chamber, bias voltage and substrate temperature on the emission intensities of the F, N, Xe lines was studied. It was determined that increasing the bias voltage from -300 to -50 V and the temperature from 50 to 300°C doesn’t change the relative intensities of the analysed spectral lines, while increasing the high-frequency power from 500 to 750W and decreasing the pressure from 1.95 to 0.95Pa increase the intensities of the F, N, Xe lines.

Abstract:
508 Background: Clinical trials testing adjuvant endocrine therapy (ET) have not historically limited enrollment to patients with clinically high-risk breast cancer (BC), nor estimated treatment (trt) effects prior to 5 yrs. In light of recent trial results for adjuvant CDK4/6 inhibitors, we estimated early relative and absolute trt effects of aromatase inhibitor (AI) vs tamoxifen (T), with ovarian suppression (OFS) if premenopausal, in high risk subgroups. Methods: From pts enrolled in adjuvant phase 3 randomized clinical trials BIG 1-98 (postmenopausal, 5yr AI v T), TEXT (5yr AI+OFS v T+OFS) and SOFT (5yr AI+OFS v T+OFS v T), we identified subgroups with HR+/HER2- BC and high risk features (≥4 pLN; or 1-3 pLN with grade 3, pT≥5 cm and/or Ki-67≥20% [retrospectively centrally assessed]). TEXT randomized at start of adjuvant trt; BIG 1-98 and SOFT after chemotherapy. Disease-free survival (DFS) was defined from randomization to invasive recurrence at local, regional, distant or contralateral breast, second non-breast malignancy or death. We estimated trt effects as differences in 2, 3 and 5yr DFS Kaplan-Meier estimates (KM diffs at t yrs) and hazard ratios over time intervals of 0-2, 0-3 and 0-5 yrs (HRs over 0 to t yrs) to approximate the maturity of trial results with increasing follow-up. Results: The high-risk HR+/HER2- subgroups were 695/4922, 707/2660 and 526/3047 pts in BIG 1-98, TEXT and SOFT with 202, 122, 142 DFS events observed by 5 yrs since randomization. 60%, 46% and 44% of pts had ≥4 pLNs; 42%, 90% and 92% had chemotherapy. The table summarizes results. Conclusions: In re-analysis of clinical high risk HR+/HER2- subgroups of 3 trials each ̃700 pts, 5 yrs AI vs T had similar magnitude of early trt effects after 2-3 yrs follow-up of all pts vs trt effects observed after 27 mos median follow-up in monarchE trial (HR=0.70; KM diffs 2.7% at 2 yrs, 5.4% at 3 yrs; n=5637). Relative and absolute trt effects sometimes diminished when estimated over 5 yrs rather than over 2 yrs, but meaningful absolute differences remained at 5 yrs in contrast to Penelope-B trial results. Design and interpretation of high risk HR+/HER2- early BC trials may depend on timing of randomization and selection of backbone adjuvant trts; follow-up >5 yrs must remain standard. Abstract:
Abstract BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE Primary generalized dystonia (PGD) is a genetic form of dystonia that frequently displays pharmacological resistance and progresses quickly after onset. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has been used successfully to treat refractory dystonia, specifically globus pallidus interna (GPi) DBS for DYT1-positive PGD patients. Long-term follow-up of the safety and efficacy falls short of the longevity seen in other diseases treated with DBS. CASE PRESENTATION A male patient presented for neurosurgical evaluation with scapular winging, hand contractures, and violent truncal spasms, which forced him to be bedridden. After failing conservative therapy, the 18-yr-old patient was implanted with bilateral GPi-DBS. DBS parameter adjustments were made primarily within the first 3 yr after implantation, with nominal changes thereafter. Initial settings were contact of 3 + 0−, amplitude of 4.9 V, frequency of 185 Hz, and pulse width of 270 μsec on the left and 3 + 0−, 2.8 V, 185 Hz, and 120 μsec on the right. Current settings are 3 + 2 + 1−, 5.2 V, 130 Hz, 330 μsec on the left and 3 + 0−, 3.5 V, 185 Hz, and 180 μsec on the right and have been relatively unchanged in the past 4 yr. Unified dystonia rating scale scores reveal a significant decrease in dystonic symptoms. CONCLUSION While prior reports have shown that GPi-DBS is effective for dystonia, this is the first with 15 yr of long-term follow-up showing disease stabilization, suggesting that stimulation is efficacious and can potentially prevent disease progression. This report reaffirms previous reports that recommend early surgical intervention before the onset of permanent musculoskeletal deficits.

Abstract:
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive, neurodegenerative disorder primarily affecting dopaminergic neuronal systems, with impaired motor function as a consequence. The most effective treatment for PD remains the administration of oral levodopa (LD). Long-term LD treatment is frequently associated with motor fluctuations and dyskinesias, which exert a serious impact on a patient’s quality of life. The aim of our study was to determine the pharmacokinetics of LD: used as monotherapy or in combination with ropinirole, in patients with advanced PD. Furthermore, an effect of ropinirole on the pharmacokinetics of 3-OMD (a major LD metabolite) was assessed. We also investigated the correlation between the pharmacokinetic parameters of LD and 3-OMD and the occurrence of motor complications. Twenty-seven patients with idiopathic PD participated in the study. Thirteen patients received both LD and ropinirole, and fourteen administered LD monotherapy. Among 27 patients, twelve experienced fluctuations and/or dyskinesias, whereas fifteen were free of motor complications. Inter- and intra-individual variation in the LD and 3-OMD concentrations were observed. There were no significant differences in the LD and 3-OMD concentrations between the patients treated with a combined therapy of LD and ropinirole, and LD monotherapy. There were no significant differences in the LD concentrations in patients with and without motor complications; however, plasma 3-OMD levels were significantly higher in patients with motor complications. A linear one-compartment pharmacokinetic model with the first-order absorption was adopted for LD and 3-OMD. Only mean exit (residence) time for 3-OMD was significantly shorter in patients treated with ropinirole. Lag time, V/F, CL/F and tmax of LD had significantly lower values in patients with motor complications. On the other hand, AUC were significantly higher in these patients, both for LD and 3-OMD. 3-OMD Cmax was significantly higher in patients with motor complications as well. Our results showed that ropinirole does not influence LD or 3-OMD concentrations. Higher 3-OMD levels play a role in inducing motor complications during long-term levodopa therapy.

Abstract:
A capillary zone electrophoresis method was developed for the determination of NiII(3-OMe-salophene), a substance with anticancer activity in vitro. A fused silica capillary (56 cm × 100 µm) was used for this purpose. The method was optimized in terms of parameters affecting the electrophoretic conditions in order to optimize separation efficiency and total time of migration. The analysis was best performed using an operating buffer of 50 mM borate, adjusted to pH 9.3, mixed with acetonitrile (50%, v/v) as organic modifier. Injections were performed hydrodynamically by applying a pressure of 50 mbar for 8 s, and a 30 kV separation voltage was selected at 25 °C. Detection was carried out at 250 nm using diode array detector (DAD). The method allowed the separation of NiII(3-OMe-salophene) from four other structurally related impurities in a total migration time (tm) of 8 min. Peak identification was achieved using the standard reference of individual impurities. The purity of the migrated NiII(3-OMe-salophene) was confirmed by Ultra-violet (UV) scan overlay depending on DAD. The linear ranges for the determination of NiII(3-OMe-salophene) was 400–20,000 ng mL−1 with limit of detection (LOD) of 120 ng mL−1. Acceptable intra-day and inter-day precisions were achieved (%relative standard deviation (RSD) results were less than 0.76% and 0.30%, respectively). The proposed method was assessed for greenness and compared to reported methodologies to prove superiority.

Abstract:
Abstract A liquid chromatographic (LC) method for determination of stilbene phytoalexins (SPs) in peanuts has been developed. SPs were extracted with acetonitrile–water (90 + 10, v/v) by high-speed blending. An aliquot of extract was applied to a minicolumn packed with AI2O3–ODS (C18) mixture and eluted with acetonitrile-water (90 + 10, v/v). Eluate was evaporated under nitrogen, and residue was dissolved in LC mobile phase. SPs in an aliquot of purified extract were quantitated by normal-phase partition LC on silica gel with n-heptane–2-propanol–water–acetonitrile–acetic acid (1050 + 270 + 17 + 5 + 1, v/v) as mobile phase. Recoveries of SPs [frans-4-(3-methyl-but-1-enyl)-3,5,4′-trihy-droxystilbene (trans-arachidin-3; t-Ar-3), trans-3-isopentadienyl-4,3′,5′-trihydroxystilbene (t-IPD), and trans-3,5,4′-trihydroxystilbene (trans-resveratrol; t-Res)] from peanuts spiked at 300 ppb were 96.05 ± 2.8%. Limits of quantitation for t-Ar-3 and t-IPD were about 100 ppb. t-Ar-3, t-IPD, and t-Res were found in all parts of the peanut plant as major SPs produced in response to fungal invasion.

The high content (about 39%) of polymeric tannins in tamarind ( Tamarindus indica L.) seed husk (TSH) was demonstrated, and an extract (crude TSE) with a high content (about 94%) of polymeric tannins was prepared from TSH with a one pot extraction using ethanol/water (3:2, v/v). The crude TSE was further purified with Sephadex LH20 to give one fraction (metTSE) eluted with methanol/water (3:2, v/v) and another (acTSE) eluted with acetone/water (3:2, v/v). The tannins of acTSE were established as polymeric proanthocyanidins (PA) by 13C NMR spectroscopy; this was further confirmed by IR and UV spectroscopy, n-BuOH/HCl and vanillin assays, and from HPLC pattern. The ratio of procyanidins to prodelphinidins was 2:3, and the average degree of polymerization of acTSE was 7. Galloylated flavan-3-ols were not detected in acTSE. The main ingredients of metTSE were confirmed to be polymeric PA by 13C NMR spectroscopy. The antioxidant activities using DPPH and ABTS assays were investigated. The IC50 values of acTSE were 4.2±0.2 (DPPH assay) and 6.2±0.3 μg/mL (ABTS assay).

Abstract:
Tribhuvankirti Rasa is a herbo-mineral Ayurvedic medicine regularly used to treat different types of fever. It has antipyretic and analgesic activities. It is an effective medicine for the common cold, flu and other Vata kapha problems. Laghumalini Vasanta is also Ayurvedic medicine, used to treat chronic fever and effective in pitta disorders. Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India also recommended these medicines to prevent the severe conditions of Cov-2 infection. Review of literature suggested that phytochemical and elemental characterization parameters of Tribhuvankirti Rasa and Laghumalini Vasant are not reported. The objective of this study is to report phytochemical and elemental profiling and to standardize Tribhuvankirti Rasa (TKR) and Laghumalini Vasant (LMV) to confirm quality and purity. Tribhuvankirti Rasa and Laghumalini Vasant evaluated for phytochemical and elemental parameters by HPTLC and ICP-OES respectively. HPTLC analysis confirms LMV contains Piperine and TKR contains Piperine and 6-Gingerol. The solvent systems toluene: ethyl acetate (7: 3) v/v for Piperine & Hexane: Ethyl acetate: Formic acid (4 : 6 : 0.1) v/v for 6-Gingerol were optimized. ICP-OES analysis confirms presence of Zn in LMV and Hg in TKR. HPTLC and ICP-OES methods were validated successfully for Tribhuvankirti Rasa and Laghumalini Vasant. The characterization and method validation parameters presented in this paper may serve as standard reference for quality control analysis of Tribhuvankirti Rasa and Laghumalini Vasant.

Abstract A validation study was carried out in order to evaluate the efficiency of inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) for the analysis of minor elements (manganese, chromium, copper, iron, and titanium) in aluminium alloys. Aluminium casting samples were obtained by adding compressed powder compacts of each alloying element and aluminium (minitablets) to aluminum baths in a laboratory crucible furnace. Digestion of solid samples was performed using concentrated HCl and H2O2 35% (v/v) previous to analysis by ICP-OES without any matrix separation. This solution-based method was validated considering direct current arc spectrometry as the reference method based on direct analysis without any pretreatment of the solid samples considered. Univariate statistical procedures were carried out, for which precision <3% and trueness of the analytical results were taken into account.

Abstract:
Abstract Trigeminal schwannomas are benign lesions arising from the Schwann cells of the trigeminal nerve. This is an unusual tumor that accounts for less than 0.4% of intracranial pathologies, even though they are the second most frequent schwannoma after the vestibular schwannoma. The tumor spreads along the natural course of the V nerve at its cisternal portion, along the ganglion inside Meckel's cave or through its peripheral division. Even though the tumor can reach great size and become multicompartmental. We present a 51-yr-old woman, with an history of 3 mo of incapacitating facial pain, that was found on examination to be on the territory of the third division of the trigeminal nerve on the right side. The MRI depicted a large homogeneous enhancing lesion at the base of the right middle fossa with extension through the petrous apex to the most superior and medial part of the posterior fossa. The patient was operated by the senior author, through a middle fossa approach, dissecting between the two layers of the middle fossa dura (the apparent inner and the true outer layer of the cavernous sinus), the so called middle fossa “peeling”. We achieved total resection of the tumor, but the patient presented after surgery with facial nerve paresis. This is thought to be related to geniculate ganglion manipulation, as it was unprotect by bone at the middle fossa and the patient maintained lacrimal function (post-geniculate alteration). It resolved completely after 6 mo. The patient consented to publication of her images.

Abstract:
WHO system”, “binary system”, “oral potentially malignant disorders”, “histological features in actinic cheilitis”, fazendo uso do operador booleano “AND”. Abstract:
The cardiometabolic risk describes the probabilities of a person to suffer a heart or blood vessels damages. Hence the relevance of determining this type of risk in the students of the Nutrition and Dietetics career of the Technical University of Babahoyo. For this purpose, indicators such as waist circumference, waist/height formula, sex, body mass index, waist-height index ICE, physical activity and inductive-deductive method were measured in a population of 100 students. It was found that the predominant nutritional status in female students is overweight and obesity. This indicates that 29% of female students have an increased cardiovascular risk. With regard to cardiometabolic risk, it was determined that female students had a rate of 36%, compared with male students with 11%. Keywords: cardiometabolic risk factors, overweight, obesity. e4519020The mark of violence is present in today's society. It is in this context that human rights education is fundamental. The research, of qualitative nature, aimed to apprehend and analyze, in compliance with human rights, the problematized aspects with regard to violence against women, supporting on the structured interview, projective modality, which used the device of photo reproduction so that the interviewees could talk, critically, about what they saw. For discussion, two textual productions related to the reading of two reproductions that “spoke” of violence against women, were considered and submitted to interpretative analysis. The texts expressed contradiction to what was put in the photo reproduction, problematizing the violations of rights and, at the same time, considering ethics, values, and human rights as fundamental components to the exercise of citizenship and, still, evoking the dignity of the human person for the constitution of scenarios sensitive to humanity. Abstract:
Young massive stars regulate the physical conditions, ionization, and fate of their natal molecular cloud and surroundings. It is important to find tracers that quantify the stellar feedback processes that take place on different spatial scales. We present ~85 arcmin2 velocity-resolved maps of several submillimeter molecular lines, taken with Herschel/HIFI, toward the closest high-mass star-forming region, the Orion molecular cloud 1 core (OMC-1). The observed rotational lines include probes of warm and dense molecular gas that are difficult, if not impossible, to detect from ground-based telescopes: CH+ (J = 1–0), CO (J = 10–9), HCO+ (J = 6–5), HCN (J = 6–5), and CH (N, J = 1, 3/2–1, 1/2). These lines trace an extended but thin layer (AV ≃ 3–6 mag or ~1016 cm) of molecular gas at high thermal pressure, Pth = nH ⋅ Tk ≈ 107–109 cm−3 K, associated with the far-ultraviolet (FUV) irradiated surface of OMC-1. The intense FUV radiation field – emerging from massive stars in the Trapezium cluster – heats, compresses, and photoevaporates the cloud edge. It also triggers the formation of specific reactive molecules such as CH+. We find that the CH+ (J = 1–0) emission spatially correlates with the flux of FUV photons impinging the cloud: G0 from ~103 to ~105. This relationship is supported by constant-pressure photodissociation region (PDR) models in the parameter space Pth∕G0 ≈ [5 × 103 − 8 × 104] cm−3 K where many observed PDRs seem to lie. The CH+ (J = 1–0) emission also correlates with the extended infrared emission from vibrationally excited H2 (v ≥ 1), and with that of [C II] 158 μm and CO J = 10–9, all emerging from FUV-irradiated gas. These spatial correlations link the presence of CH+ to the availability of C+ ions and of FUV-pumped H2 (v ≥ 1) molecules. We conclude that the parsec-scale CH+ emission and narrow-line (Δv ≃ 3 km s−1) mid-J CO emission arises from extended PDR gas and not from fast shocks. PDR line tracers are the smoking gun of the stellar feedback from young massive stars. The PDR cloud surface component in OMC-1, with a mass density of 120–240 M⊙ pc−2, represents ~5–10% of the total gas mass; however, it dominates the emitted line luminosity, the average CO J = 10–9 surface luminosity in the mapped region being ~35 times brighter than that of CO J = 2–1. These results provide insights into the source of submillimeter CH+ and mid-J CO emission from distant star-forming galaxies.

Abstract:
Abstract A capillary GC-flame ionization detection (FID) method to determine volatile compounds (ethyl acetate, 1,1-diethoxyethane, methyl alcohol, 1-propanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 2-methyl-1-butanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, 1-butanol, and 2-butanol) in wine was investigated in terms of calculation of detection limits and calibration method. The main objectives were: (1) calculation of regression coefficient parameters by ordinary least-squares (OLS) and bivariate least-squares (BLS) regression models, taking into account errors in both axes; (2) estimation of linear dynamic range (LDR) according to International Conference on Harmonization recommendations; (3) performance evaluation of a method by using three different internal standards (ISs) such as acetonitrile, acetone, and 1-pentanol; (4) evaluation of LODs according to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 3σ approach and the Hubaux-Vos (H-V) method; (5) application of H-V theory to a gas chromatographic analytical method and to a food matrix; and (6) accuracy assessment of the method relative to methyl alcohol content through a Unione Italiana Vini (UIV) interlaboratory proficiency test. Calibration curves calculated via BLS and OLS show similar slopes, while intercepts are closer to zero in the first case, independent of the chosen IS. The studied ISs show a substantially equivalent behavior, even though the IS closer to the analyte retention time seems to be more appropriate in terms of LDR and LOD. Results indicate an underestimation of LODs using the EPA 3σ approach instead of the more realistic H-V method, both with OLS and BLS regression models. Methanol contents compared with UIV average values indicate recovery between 90 and 110%.

Abstract:
The main objective of this work was to explore whether stress or negative emotions caused by social isolation produce physiological alterations in menstruation. A study was carried out with women between 25 and 45 years of age. The bibliography reveals important findings related to menstrual disorders resulting from difficult situations that could affect women of reproductive age. A quantitative, exploratory and descriptive method was used. The results of the survey revealed that the research subjects suffered distress due to financial difficulties, as well as the danger of becoming ill or their relatives. However, there is not enough evidence that due to the social distancing product of the Covid-19 pandemic, as a cause of stressful situations and negative emotions, it has caused physiological imbalances that affect the menstrual cycle. Abstract:
To evaluate the important Vitis amurensis germplasm, the quality characteristics and anthocyanin profiles of the ripe berries of 20 V. amurensis grapes and 11 interspecific hybrids in two consecutive years were analysed. Compared with the V. vinifera grapes, V. amurensis grapes had small berries with low total soluble solids and high titratable acids, and were richer in phenolic compounds except for flanan-3-ols in their skins but had lower phenolic contents in their seeds and showed lower antioxidant activities. An outstanding feature of the V. amurensis grapes was their abundant anthocyanin contents, which was 8.18-fold higher than the three wine grapes of V. vinifera. The anthocyanin composition of V. amurensis was characterized by an extremely high proportion of diglucoside anthocyanins (91.71%) and low acylated anthocyanins (0.04%). Interestingly, a new type of speculated 3,5,7-O-triglucoside anthocyanins was first identified and only detected in V. amurensis grapes and hybrids. Based on the total phenolic and anthocyanin characteristics, V. amurensis grapes were set apart from V. vinifera cultivars and the interspecific hybrids, for the same qualities, fell between them, as assessed by principal component analysis.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT I study the contribution of young massive star clusters (YMCs) and open star clusters (OCs) to the present day, intrinsic merger rate density of dynamically assembled binary black holes (BBHs). The BBH merger event rate is estimated based on a set of state-of-the-art evolutionary models of star clusters, as presented in Banerjee (2021). The merger-event rates are obtained by constructing a cluster population of the Universe, out of the models, taking into account mass distribution of clusters and cosmic star formation and enrichment histories, as per observations. The model BBH merger rate density ranges from a pessimistic to a reference value of 0.5−37.9 yr−1 Gpc−3, for a LIGO-Virgo-like detector horizon. The reference rate well accommodates the BBH merger rate densities estimated from GWTC-1 and GWTC-2 merger-event catalogues. The computed models also yield differential BBH merger rate densities that agree reasonably with those from GWTC-1 and, as well, with the much more constrained ones from GWTC-2. These results suggest that dynamical interactions in YMCs and OCs can, in principle, alone explain the BBH merger rate density and its dependence on the merging-binary properties, as inferred from to-date gravitational-wave (GW) events. The cosmic merger rate density evolution also agrees with GWTC-2. The models predict a rate of ≈5 yr−1 Gpc−3 for eccentric LIGO-Virgo mergers from YMCs and OCs. The improving constraints on BBH merger rate density with mounting GW events will help constraining scenarios of star cluster formation across cosmic time and as well the relative contributions of the various compact binary merger channels.

Abstract Sulfonamides are widely used as a feed additive in animal production In Japan. The present paper is a determination of 3 sulfonamides: sulfamethazine (SMZ), sulfamonomethoxlne [SMX, 4-amino-/V-(3-methoxypyrazlnyl)-benzenesulfonamlde], and suifadimethoxine (SDX) in animal tissue and egg by liquid chromatography (LC). Tissues were extracted with acetonltrlle and fat was removed by liquid/liquid partition. The sulfonamides were purified by an ODS cartridge column; then each compound was separated by an ODS LC column and detected at 268 nm. Quantification levels were 0.02 ppm for SMZ and SMX, and 0.04 ppm for SDX; detection limits were 0.01 ppm for SMZ and SMX, and 0.02 ppm for SDX. Calibration curves were linear between 2 and 40 ng for SMZ and SMX, and between 4 and 80 ng for SDX. Recoveries from muscle and egg samples spiked with 1-2 /μg/10 g were 8 1 - 98%.

Abstract:
The prevalence of gluteal tendinopathy (GT) associated with osteoarthritis of the hip is difficult to determine as it is frequently undiagnosed or misdiagnosed as trochanteric bursitis. Its relationship to total hip arthroplasty (THA) outcomes is currently unknown. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of GT at the time of hip arthroplasty and examine the relationship between GT and patient reported outcomes (PROMS) before and after THA.Patients undergoing THA for primary osteoarthritis between August 2017 and August 2020 were recruited. Tendinopathy was assessed and graded at time of surgery. PROMS included the Oxford Hip Score (OHS), HOOS JR, EQ-5D, and were collected preoperatively and at one year after THA. Satisfaction with surgery was also assessed at 1 year.797 patients met eligibility criteria and were graded as Grade 1: normal tendons (n =496, 62%), Grade 2: gluteal tendinopathy but no tear (n=222, 28%), Grade 3: partial/full thickness tears or bare trochanter (n=79, 10%). Patients with abnormal gluteal tendons were older (p=0.001), had a higher mean BMI (p=0.01), and were predominately female (p=0.001). Patients with higher grade tendinopathy had statistically significant inferior PROMS at one year, OHS score (44.1 v 42.9 v 41.3, p 0.001) HOOS JR (89.3 V 86.3 V 85.6 p 0.005). Increasing gluteal tendon grade was associated with a greater incidence of problems with mobility (p=0.001), usual activities (p=0.001) and pain (p=0.021) on EQ5D. There was a 3 times relative risk of overall dissatisfaction with THA in the presence of gluteal tears. This study demonstrated that gluteal tendinopathy was commonly observed and associated with inferior 1-year PROMS in patients undergoing THA for OA. Increasing degree of tendinopathy was a negative prognostic factor for worse functional outcomes and patient satisfaction.
