Abstract:
The proposed research is substantively and conceptually related to research on the history of domestic library science and is directly devoted to the methodological and educational activities of the famous Ukrainian librarian L. Khavkinа in Odessa 1925 year. The article uses authentic materials stored in the funds of the Odessa Regional State Archive and in the funds of the Book Museum of the Odessa State Scientific Library. Among them are such unique documents as the minutes of the meetings of the presidium of the Library Association of Odessa in 1925 year, the report of the Bibinspektura on conducting a seminar with the participation of L. Khavkinа and, finally, own financial receipts made by L. Khavkinа. These documents state that the information provided during the methodological meetings by L. Khavkinа made an unforgettable impression on the Odessa library community and encouraged it to further the fruitful development of the Odessa library business and prompted the centralization of Soviet libraries in the Odessa region and further centralized exchange of methodological, scientific and educational, library and bibliographic literature and information. However, unfortunately, L. Khavkinа's stay in Odessa and holding a library seminar was accidental and took place on the recommendation of Agitprom Gubkom and the Odessa library community did not make a special professional impression on L. Khavkinа, so in the field of professional research interests of the famous librarian further was not included.

Abstract:
At the end of the 19th century archival commissions as historical societies began to work in the provinces of the Imperial state. The application about opening of Katerinoslav province scientific commission was prepared in 1902. It was signed by famous elective district council members, public figures, cultural and educational leaders. The society of historians, archivists, ethnographers, archeologists and specialists in regional studies worked in Katerinoslav in 1903?1916. The author shows history and activity of the library of a local society as a province centre of local lore history. The printed editions of the society called “Chronocles” (volumes I?X) which contain proceedings of the commission meetings were the main source of research. The library collected works on history, archeology, ethnography and historical geography of Katerinoslav province. From the beginning of the library foundation it played an important part in the development of the society. The members of the society paid great attention to forming of book collections on regional history. Abstract:
AbstractThe Odessa Museum of Archaeology was founded in 1825 by local antiquarians. The museum's collection grew in part due to excavations of classical sites in the region, in part due to gifts and purchases from dealers in classical antiquities. Up to the Second World War the focus of the Museum's activities was classical archaeology. In the post-war period this expanded to include the whole of the ancient history of the region from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. The museum now houses one of the best collections of Classical Antiquities in the former Soviet Union and the third-ranking Egyptological collection. The museum formed from 1972 part of the Soviet Academy system and undertook fieldwork on the Lower Dniester at Bronze Age sites, as well as at classical sites such as Tyras, Nikonion, the site of the ancient Odessos, and Leuke and medieval sites such as Belgorod.

Abstract:
The article examines ethnographic parks, open-air museums and cave settlements of Ukraine for the relevance of creating an ethnographic park in Odessa. Tourist centers of territorial tourism systems are, as a rule, historical settlements that have valuable objects of cultural heritage and are determined according to the List of Historical Settlements of Ukraine. The role of tourist centers, in addition to historical settlements, is played by almost all regional cities, which, in addition to monuments, also have notable objects of modern architecture. Most ethnographic parks and open-air museums are located in the northwestern part of Ukraine. One of the most famous open-air museums of our country is the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine, better known as the Pirogov Museum, which is located in the village of Pirogov, Kyiv region. The open-air Ethnographic Museum "Frumushyka-Nova Bessarabian Village" (2008) has only recently appeared in Odessa region. Another interesting type of settlement found on the territory of our country is Cave settlements (fortresses, cities and monasteries), the most famous "Cave Cities" are located in Crimea. On the mainland of Ukraine, cave settlements are mainly represented by "Cave monasteries". Odessa "Shkodova Mountain" is the center of Usativ culture, on the top of the mountain there is the Usativ cemetery and the Usativ burial mound, at the foot of it – another Cossack cemetery and the famous "Cave Houses" – unique historical monuments of the end of the 18th century, which need to be preserved as a unique cultural heritage of the Cossack era in Odessa. This territory, with appropriate natural and landscape resources within the settlement, which has a natural landscape, historical monuments, a beach and bathing area (a good location on the shore of the Khadzhibey estuary) and the presence of recreational facilities (Sanatorium "Kuyalnik"), can become a wonderful a short-term recreation area for tourists and residents of Odessa. All this indicates the urgency of creating an ethnographic museum in the city of Odessa called "Shkodova Mountain", taking into account the historical and archaeological value of this territory.

Abstract:
When the events known as the “Russian Spring” began in the aftermath of Ukraine’s Euromaidan Revolution in February 2014, Odessa oblast seemed like it would be particularly vulnerable to separatist activity. This paper offers a tentative explanation for why Odessa oblast escaped war in the 2014–15 phase of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. To do so, it chronicles events in Odessa oblast between fall 2013 and spring 2015 drawing on secondary sources such as news articles, blogs, social media posts, YouTube footage, official statements, and reports. Odessa-based elites’ decision to support Ukrainian sovereignty was an important factor hindering the realization of a Donetsk or Luhansk scenario. However, the weak Oblast Administration in the spring of 2014 and the upcoming mayoral elections created a volatile environment that various individuals (oligarchs, politicians, criminal networks) exploited to maintain or enhance their influence in the region. The internationalization of the conflict in the spring of 2014 presented Odessans with stark existential choices which undermined the city’s violence-avoiding dispute resolution techniques and culminated in the violence on May 2.

Abstract:
The article examines the history of the Odessa catacombs, focuses on the history of research of underground labyrinths, and their gradual transformation from objects of scientific interest to tourist objects. We understand the tourist image of the region as the system of rationally and emotionally formed ideas, which are based on specific features of the territory, emphasizing its individuality from the point of view of the tourists. Tourist image always is woven into a certain historical context and social situation. Each era generates its special perception of the environment, changing the era creates a modification of tourist image of the region. The Odessa catacombs, which today are an integral part of the tourist image of the Black Sea region, also have changed in the minds of people from time to time – from their purely practical application to the production of limestone; for a while they had a negative reputation as a refuge for criminal elements, smugglers. At the beginning of the last century researchers have engaged in advanced studies of catacombs. Only in the second half of the twentieth century, the catacombs became interesting tourist destination for individual tourists, but in the 21st century and for mass tourism. Thus, the purpose of this research is to update the modern views about the catacombs and underground museums of the Black Sea region and their contribution to the formation of the tourist image of the region. The history of the formation of the catacombs shows that they are obliged to exist in their existence by the ancient Pontian limestone, which was extracted as a building material by locals. Today, the length of the catacombs of Odessa and its suburbs reaches for various data from 1.7 to 3.0 thousand kilometers; they are famous for their multistage and meandering passages of underground galleries. The first studies of the dungeons were done by the paleontologist O. Nordman, the geologist M. Barbot de Marne, T. G. Hrytsay, modern – A. Dobrolyubsky, K. Pronin, M. Baranetsky, A. Babich, V. Yudin, and others. Several museums were created for tourists: the Museum of Partisan Glory in the village of Nerubaysk, the underground Grotto of the Odessa Art Museum, the museum «Catacombs of Odessa» under the Moldavanka district and in the city center «Kantakuzen's Catacombs». The quality of images that arise in mass tourists is directly related to the process of knowledge of the territory. In this connection, the development of travel routes as a way of getting acquainted with the territory becomes especially important. Moreover, contemporary museums are interested in attracting a wide target audience; they also offer expositions of different directions from mine history to various legends about the use of dungeons, from unique paleontological finds to historical drawings and inscriptions on the walls of the catacombs. As a result of understanding the importance of the existence of such an invaluable scientific and tourist facility, as well as maintaining it in a proper condition for historical and cultural monument, influences the formation of a positive tourist image of the Black Sea region.

Abstract:
The article reveals the historical and local history activities of the libraries of the Odessa region in the second half of the 40s – 80s XX century. The analysis of this activity indicates that despite the great difficulties (the residual principle of financing culture, and the weak material and technical base of libraries), they have become real centers of local history work in the region. During this period, libraries have accumulated a significant bibliographic base on local history issues, acquired extensive experience in working with local history research. In the development of library local lore, an important role was played by bibliographers of local lore of Odessa scientific libraries. Thanks to their activities, a local history fund was collected in almost every library, catalogs and card indexes were created, which included numerous materials on various local history topics. That is why libraries performed the social functions of education and culture units and became centers of local history. However, the regional studies of the regional libraries require further in-depth study, because by that time they, acting as regional information centers, were engaged in the search, storage and provision of local history literature for public use. The development of library local lore in the region was negatively affected by those general tendencies of social life arising from the very nature of the then totalitarian regime.

Abstract:
The analysis of 4 stone slabs with a series of Sarmatian tamgas is based on a series of new detailed photos and on the interpretation of influence of geological factors on the modern appearance of the slabs. The Sarmatian slabs from Olbia and Krivoi Rog were installed vertically, probably on top of the hills. Later these steles were tipped face up and covered with earth, which may be due to meteorological magic. The peasants who found them later worshipped them. In Olbia depicts the scene of the conclusion of the union, where 4 hands hold different vessels and are accompanied by tamgas. In the center is tamga 6, associated with Crimean Sarmatians. Here are the signs of clans of Crimea and DonBasin, which were depicted in two stages. In Krivoi Rog 50 tamgas of 46 types are engraved around the head of the Master of Animals, which were applied for about 3 centuries. The earliest signs are associated with the Kuban and Crimea. Since the middle of the 1st c. CE, the tamgas of influential groups of Western Ukraine and the Lower Don and the barbarians of the Crimea predominate, since the middle of the 2nd c. CE the signs of the Lower Don are the most frequent. It the center there are two important signs of the 2nd c. CE (Khorezmian king Artaw and co-ruler of the Bosporan Eupator), the analogies to the signs of Kangju and Khorezm. On the slab from Tanais of 236 CE there are 5 signs of local Sarmatians. On the slab from Tanais of 192 CE a large tamga of a local clan is important, it connected with the elite of Xiongnu later with Sogdia and Chach of the period of Hunnic rule.

Abstract:
The attempt to found a museum in Geneva faced many challenges, but the nature of the city also provided some unusual opportunities. Against a background of the French Revolution, political upheaval, war and the creation of a new Swiss state, a few members of the academic and scientific community, led by Henri Boissier and Augustin-Pyramus de Candolle, created an institution in 1818 that was to become famous. Harnessing the patriotism of the population, the presence of eminent scientists, the interest of wealthy patrons, and local and international networks, they began to build a collection. The aim was to establish an educational resource, both for the formal teaching at the Académie de Genève and for public instruction. To attract the public, the donation of spectacular objects was of great help, and many individuals and institutions gave specimens in an early form of crowdsourcing. The academic ambitions required a more systematic effort and detailed collection data to augment the value of the specimens. To achieve this, the friendship and kinship networks of Geneva were brought into play; a comparison of the letters from the museum administration preserved by Léonard Revilliod (1786–1867) and entries in the museum's acquisition register provides a case study of how this interaction worked in practice.

Abstract:
Fragmentation of scientific research and insufficient understanding of the background on which the modern museum pedagogy should be based slows down its development. In practice, a museum does not always become an intermediary between an exhibit and a visitor that can provide their cognitive and emotional contact. Forms of such contact are varied. The article presents several results of the analysis of work of Ukrainian and Spanish museum organizations from the point of view of innovative experience of socio-cultural activity. The article also studies the dialogic discourse as the basis of the modern museum pedagogy.Dialogic discourse is understood as the cognitive-communicative activity of communicants in a broad (situational, sociocultural, cognitive-psychological) context, fixed by a dialogical text. The museum exhibition itself (exposition) can be viewed as a dialogical text, because as a matter of form it is a human thought fixed on material carrier. In the dialogic discourse between a museum and visitors, we can note such properties as presence of text recipients, complexity of unfolding of discourse moves and their spontaneity, thematic unity of the dialogue, individuality of meanings for each addressee depending on his/her level of preparedness, etc. Thus, we can consider dialogic discourse as an essential part of socio-cultural interaction between a museum and visitors.Since the museum pedagogical activity is often aimed at the younger generation, the article explores examples of work of Ukrainian and Spanish museums with children and families. For example, it analyses the Prado museum’s educational and family programs, audio excursions, game and theatrical "paths", the Prado School program contents, as well as the museum website information. It also views the Rules for visitors of the Prado museum that contain valuable information for parents. In the course of exploration of the Ukrainian museum and pedagogical space, it has been established that each region uses its specific capabilities in order to develop a dialogue with visitors. For example, Odessa Bleshchunov Museum has created a special guidebook for families with children, Skovoroda city museum has an interactive game, Kherson Regional Museum has opened its Museum Center for Child Leisure and Kiev organizes a competition for young museum guides.Summarizing the analysis, we can conclude that the dialogical forms gradually penetrate the process of museum work. However, the discursive part – namely, the "answer" - the response of the museum audience still requires higher attention and scientific research.

Abstract:
Anotation. Regional clinical and auxological studies of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) in children contribute to a realistic assessment of the severity of the problem and prevent underdiagnostics of the disease. The aim of the study is to analyze the features of various forms of GHD in children of the Odessa region on the basis of the clinicians’ integrated assessment of history, physical examination, auxology, stature, growth velocity, bone age (BA), 2 growth hormone (GH) stimulation tests, insulin-like growth factor, magnetic resonance imaging in 92 children with GHD in the Odessa region. Parametric variables were assessed using criteria t-test and хі-square (χ2). The p value <0,05 was considered statistically significant. Decrease in SDS height from - 2,1 tо - 6,6 was found. Isolated GHD (IGHD) was diagnosed in 65,2% of diseases, multiple pituitary hormone deficiency (MPHD) in 34,8% cases. IGHD was more often idiopathic and MPHD was more often arose on an organic basis. Chronological age (CA), BA and height of children with MPHD were lower at the start of therapy compared with IGHD. Complete GH deficiency was more common in children with MPHD (62,7%), while partial GH deficiency was more common in children with IGHD (81,7%). Very low values of the coefficient CA/BA (less than 0,55) were significantly more often detected in children with MPHD compared with IGHD. The regional clinical and auxological characteristics of GHD in children in the Odessa region can be considered in further study of population aspects and patterns of growth.

Abstract:
Ernst R. von Stern (1859—1924) was one of the prominent historians of antiquity in the late XIX — early XX century, who participated in the development of Classic archaeology of the Northern Black Sea region. The article discusses the role of E. R. von Stern in the creation of the school of Classic archaeology, which was based on the Novorossiisk University in Odessa and the Odessa Society of History and Antiquities, in particular the museum of that society, as well as the contribution of E. R. von Stern in education of native archaeologists and historians. R. von Stern, having considerable experience in teaching, understood the importance of educating young professional personnel. As a result, due to a long and systematic work, E. R. von Stern was able to create a scientific school of his followers. Among the students of E. R. von Stern were those who later became well-known scholars, connecting their lives with history and archaeology. In particular, the scientific career of B. V. Farmakovskyi (1870—1928), an outstanding archaeologist, a long-term researcher of Olbia, was largely formed thanks to the pedagogical talent of E. R. von Stern. The most known students of E. R. von Stern, except B. V. Farmakovskyi, were also M. I. Mandes (1866—1934), E. G. Kagarov (1882—1942) and M. F. Boltenko (1888—1959).

The first significant exhibition devoted to Roma/ Gypsy history and culture was organised in the Regional Museum in Tarnów in 1979. After its success, collections connected with the history of this ethnic group were initiated. The Ethnographic Museum in Tarnów (the branch of the Regional Museum) opened a permanent exhibition entitled “Gypsies. History and culture” as the first permanent museum exhibition devoted to Roma matters in 1990. The Gypsy collections of the museum amount to almost 1000 exhibits; moreover, it gathers professional photographic, cinematographic and phonographic documentation and archives, and it runs a specialised library. Based on this permanent Roma exhibition and collections, the museum in Tarnów organises numerous cultural and educational projects, as well as those that promote Roma culture and history. The International Roma Caravan Memorial is a regular event which has been organised since 1996. It is a project which consists in a kind of a reconstruction of a Gypsy wandering caravan, during which the participants visit places connected with Roma martyrdom during the Second World War in Małopolska. In addition, the museum publishes a scientific annual entitled “Studia Romologica”.

The article presents materials from the funds of the Biysk Local History Museum, characterizing small collections of the past decades transferred by the finders to the museum and discovered during the survey of various territories of Altai by B.H. Kadikov - a researcher, and then the director of the museum. These collections contain a small number of finds, so did not attract the attention of researchers. However, the published materials are quite revealing, have a precisely defined location of detection and allow it to be found even after a long period of time. The work describes the finds of M.D. Kopytov near the village of Vyatkino in the Ust-Pristan district of the Altai region, the sites located on the right bank of Bia in the Turochak district of the Altai Republic and at the mouth of the Chemal River in the Chemal region of the republic. The published sites are located in different regions of the Altai region in different physical and geographical conditions. This fact allows to significantly expand the possibilities of finding new archaeological objects in steppe, mountain and taiga areas. Abstract:
Abstract. The article explores the issues of the emergence and development of historical parks in Ukraine. There are four periods of formation and development of historical parks in Ukraine: the first ‒ from the times of Kievan Rus to the middle of the 17th century (the origin of park building), the second ‒ from the middle of the 17th century before the revolution of 1917 (construction of mainly private palaces and park ensembles), the third ‒ from 1918 to 1991 (soviet period), the fourth ‒ from 1991 to the present (the period of independence of Ukraine). The definition of the concept «historical park» is given. The park is a work of art. A unique situation in human practice: to create a living and perfect work of art at the same time. Gardens and parks provide this opportunity. The park is history. The historical park preserves and broadcasts this history to us ‒ it is an object of cultural heritage, our common heritage. Sometimes the park is also a museum-reserve and bears the function of preserving heritage. Historical gardens and parks often acquire the status of monuments. Monuments of landscape gardening art are historical and cultural monuments that organically include plants, landscape features (hills, water sources and waterfalls, stream or river valleys, stones, rocks, distant landscape perspectives, sometimes wetlands), architectural structures, sculptures, flower beds, etc. Historical parks of cities include palaces and manor complexes, botanical gardens, city parks and memorial parks, as well as parks-monuments. In total, there are 88 historical parks-monuments of landscape gardening art of national and 426 local significances in Ukraine. Parks-monuments of landscape gardening art of local importance include: parks of culture and recreation, arboretums, woodlands used as recreation parks, and other objects. In particular, in the Odessa region there are 22 parks-monuments, in the city of Odessa ‒ 5 parks-monuments of gardening art (T. Shevchenko Park, Dyukovsky Garden, City Garden, Victory Arboretum, Park named after Savitsky). The article highlights the main problems in the restoration work of historical parks and solutions. The history of the emergence and development of parks in Ukraine is analyzed. It was concluded that the historical parks are multifaceted and interesting not only for architectural ensembles, but also for their biocenosis.

Hands-on access to natural history museum collections is often limited for undergraduates. An ongoing collaboration between staff at the Nottingham Natural History Museum, Wollaton Hall, and staff and students at the School of Science and Technology, Nottingham Trent University, was established in 2013 to allow final year undergraduate students to undertake collections-based research projects. A successful pilot project conducted on dinosaur fossils in 2013-14 led to subsequent projects based on the geological collections. The projects provide mutual benefits to students, university staff, and museum curators and their collections. In particular, students benefit from hands-on practical learning engagement with collections, university staff benefit from using the collection as a teaching resource, and the museum collections benefit from increased usage and identification or reidentification of specimens. Overall, the only notable cost is the time commitment required to develop and facilitate projects, however, this investment is richly rewarded by numerous positive outcomes.

Abstract:
In Indonesia, institutions of education continue to behind places of amusement in terms of correlation. A museum is a structure that houses exhibits of historical, artistic, scientific, and antiquarian items. A timeline of actual past events makes up history. Museum tours don't operate like museums do generally in Tanjung Pura. According to survey findings at the Regional Museum, only 60 people visited the museum in the first half of 2020, commencing in June. The Langkat Regional Museum has a number of issues, including a front that appears to have been less recently maintained. The museum's space is too small, giving the sensation of being crowded within. The museum's layout for collections and rooms is disorganized. A venue for public education on history, particularly the history of the Langkat Sultanate, is what this design aims to give. Applying the topic of Malay Neo Vernacular Architecture, revitalize the area with new concepts and a new mood so that it becomes a practical, sensible, and receptive component of people and the environment. Additionally, building a museum space that can preserve the Malay Sultanate of Langkat's cultural legacy. Finally, fostering affection and compassion for the neighborhood's rich cultural legacy. It is intended that by renewing the Langkat Regional Museum, which carries the topic of Neo-Vernacular Malay Architecture, it will be able to reclaim its role as a tool and infrastructure for teaching in public areas. in order to promote Malay culture and historical legacy from the Sultanate of Langkat as a tourist destination.

Abstract:
Various aspects of constructing stationary and mobile museum expositions of Ukraine in different regions of the country are analyzed, with the purpose of creating permanent exhibitions on the history of the modern Russo-Ukrainian War. The positive experience in organizing the preservation and popularization of the Russo-Ukrainian War monuments in the capital and regional museums of Ukraine is summarized, as well as the processes of their exposition and exhibition activity transformation at the current stage are studied. It is noted that the significance of constructing expositions on the modern history of Ukraine and the exhibition activities of national museums increased in connection with the Russia-Ukraine war of 2014 - 2023, when exposition materials became not only a means of forming historical memory, but also a source of patriotism and loyalty to national priorities, an important factor in formation of the Ukrainian nation. Individual exhibitions are studied in the “National Museum on the History of Ukraine in the Second World War”, “Memorial Complex”, "National Museum of the History of Ukraine", "National Military Historical Museum", regional local history museums, museums of higher military educational institutions, garrison museums. The study emphasizes the relevance of creating virtual means of presenting the historical past and present. The opening of virtual exhibitions and expositions in Ukraine is promising, as it connects a large audience both in our country and abroad with the exhibition ma-terial and unique funds. Foreign presentations have become an important field in modern expositions presentations. This applies both to the work of individual museums and individual foundations, European and global press centers, individual foundations, etc. A conclusion is made about the accumulated rich experience of the museums of Ukraine in all spheres of activity and, primarily, the active use of museum collections in the national and patriotic education of our country’s youth.

Abstract:
This article discusses the museum system of modern Kazakhstan and offers, for the first time ever, a classification and typology of the country’s museums. In recent years in independent Kazakhstan, on the basis of the Soviet system, a modern museum network has been formed which currently lists 250 museums. Among them are 17 national-level museums, 54 at the regional level, 73 at the provincial level, 103 branches of regional- and district-level museums and four private museums. The purpose of this article is to analyse the museum system of modern Kazakhstan and develop a classification and typology of the country’s museums. In the course of the study, conducted in 2017–2018, data was collected on the activities of museums at the national, regional and district levels over the past seven years. From the results of this investigation, the museums of Kazakhstan were systematized according to the subject or topic of the museum (e.g. history, art, scientific), its affiliation (national, regional district), and by size, measured by number of employees.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the publishing activities of scientists of the Odessa association of History and Antiquities and to determine their contribution to the military-historical research of the Dnieper Ukraine Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula. The methodology of the study is based on the principles of historicism, systematic, scientific, interdisciplinary. The following general historical methods have been used: historiographic analysis, historical-genetic, terminological analysis, comparative, typological. The author adheres to the civilization approach. Scientific novelty: the contribution of the Odessa association of History and Antiquities to the military-historical studies of the Dnieper Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula is characterized on the basis of a wide range of published researches. Conclusions. Along with general archeological, the association presented studies related to military archeology and military history. The problems identified were raised in the publications of scientists: F. Brun, K. Stamati, I. Karelin, O. Kochubinsky. Military-historical studies were presented in several areas: topography, study and protection of fortifications, military confrontation of the Russian and Ottoman empires, history of Ukrainian Cossacks. The problems concerned the South of Ukraine, Crimea, Bessarabia. Particular attention was paid to the fortresses in Akkerman, Khotyn, Ishmael. The main topics of the publications were the Russo-Turkish wars, as well as individual episodes and processes related to them. A profound, professional analysis of events, in publications, combined with political engagement and duplication of existing imperial ideologues. Archaeographic surveys mainly concerned personal sources that reflected the local governance of Russian military officials in the Black Sea Fleet and fortifications, and described Turkish and Tatar campaigns. Although the research was largely sporadic, it resulted in the publication of a considerable amount of material and concentration in the Museum of the Society of Antiquities and Cartographic Sources.

Abstract:
In Vilnius University Geology museum gathered, scientifically unique, material was never hidden from society. These resources are perfectly fit for: education, geoscientific knowledge propagation, informal natural science education (Rudnickaitė, 2003; 2007; 2012; ect.). When writing about the geology and mineralogy collections of Vilnius University, the Vilnius Museum of Antiquities and the Department of Natural History of the Museum of Antiquities under the Vilnius Public Library are always necessarily, though often fragmentarily, mentioned. This is an attempt to identify the part of the Geological collections that was transferred to the Vilnius Museum of Antiquities compiled by associate member of the Vilnius Temporary Archaeological Commission, teacher of natural sciences of the Vilnius 1st boys’ gymnasium, Kajetan Tamulewicz (1828-1870), a catalogue of the Department of Natural History of the Museum of Antiquities under the Vilnius Public Library from 1905, a catalogue of mineralogy compiled by a professor of the Vilnius Medicine and Surgery Academy and the author of several textbooks in mineralogy, Ignacy Jakowicki (1794-1847), from 1836 and other known sources. The scientific quality of the collections, their structure and more outstanding exibits are discussed. A small part of the collections, which were taken away in the 1840s and brought back from the Ilya Mechnikov State University in Odessa to the Geology and Mineralogy Museum of Vilnius University by professor Juozas Paškevičius and Eugenija Rudnickaitė on 23 May 1986, has also been used for the research. The author attempts to identify the exibits of the geological collections of Vilnius University that remained in Vilnius and were subsequently transferred to the Vilnius Museum of Antiquities (later, the Museum of Antiquities under the Vilnius Public Library) by comparing the list of exibits returned from the University of Odesa with the data in Jakowicki’s catalogue. It was mentioned in the minutes of the annual session of the Vilnius Temporary Archaeological Commission of 11 January 1858 that the systematically arranged collections became an excellent teaching aid for young people aspiring to education, and during the last year the museum received 11,800 visitors. The author can assert that the Vilnius Museum of Antiquities made a great contribution to society’s education and training of school children, the development of the science of geology and mineralogy in the period when there was no institution of higher education in Lithuania. E.Tyszkiewich had an exclusive role in this activity - he continued geological research even after the closure of the Vilnius Museum of Antiquities. Abstract:
The article analysed the historiographical heritage of the history of museum work in Transcarpathia in the 20th century. The historical conditions of the creation and formation of the museums of Transcarpathia have been highlighted, and the museum's role as a public institution for the preservation and study of the region's cultural heritage has been revealed. The main stages of the research of the Transcarpathian Museum of the 20th century are highlighted according to the chronological principle of the pre-Soviet period (the 1920s and 1930s), the Soviet period (1945 – 1980s), and the modern Ukrainian period (since 1991). It's worth noting that the process of the historical development of museum construction in Transcarpathia is provided with sources of primary information unevenly, both quantitatively and substantively. Thus, the evidence regarding the stage of origin and formation of regional museum education is extremely limited. Only in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century, when the territory of Transcarpathia was part of the Czechoslovak Republic, the public increasingly began to show increased attention to national traditions, history, culture, and art. The first attempts to create a museum were made by public associations – T. Legotsky Museum Society (1919), Prosvita Society (1920), Regional Museum Society (1929), Society "Russian National Museum" (1930), Ethnographic Society of Subcarpathian Rus (1939). There were scientists, public figures, local historians, and members of cultural and educational societies who left their memories and dedicated their research to the museum work. However, these studies were mainly devoted to separate museums. After the establishment of Soviet power in the region, the network of museum institutions was constantly growing, as proved by the great scientific interest in this problem. In addition to descriptive works, generalizing ones also appear. The burst of interest in the problem occurred in the 1990s when Ukrainian historians got rid of the ideological limitations of Soviet historiography. The number of scientific studies in various contexts of the museum work is also increasing among Transcarpathian scientists. However, today it is possible to state the absence of a comprehensive scientific work that would consider the preconditions, stages of formation, and the first steps of developing the museum work in Transcarpathia in the 20th century. There are also no particular historiographical works or historiographical reviews of this problem.

Abstract:
On the morning of October 21, 1941, the custodian of Odessa's Museum of Western Civilization summoned twenty-three-year-old Eugenie Anissimoff and her middle-aged mother to lead an unusual and most demanding tour group. Having fled the besieged metropolis weeks earlier to their former residence in suburban Odessa, the two women had returned to their bombed-out apartment in the recently occupied city. Homeless, the pair had sought refuge with the museum's caretaker, an old family friend. Unable to communicate with the delegation of SS and Wehrmacht officers who queued for admission, the Russian-speaking janitor hoped that the two Volksdeutsche women would help to disarm the menacing visitors by granting them a German-language tour. Although ostensibly to inspect the building for booby traps, the visit's true purpose became clear as the Germans began loading paintings, rugs, and even a golden saddle into their vehicles. At the conclusion of the tour-cum-robbery, the group's leader, SS-Obersturmführer Dr. Klaus Siebert, thanked the two women and complimented their excellent German. Hearing of their dire situation, Siebert advised Anissimoff and her mother to register for support at the local SS-run Volksdeutsche Mittelstelle, or Ethnic German Liaison Office (hereafter VoMi), bureau in a former music conservatory on Novovlaskaia Street.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of theoretical justification and practical verification of modern possibilities of using the pictorial method (museum tours) in teaching the subject “The History of Economics and Economic Thought”. The article justifies the evolution of views on the range of sources on historical processes. A modern understanding of “a pictorial turn” in historical research was presented. The virtual museum as an informational resource, multimedia phenomenon, cost-effective model of museum space was considered. The educational experience of the EU countries in using modern methods of working with museum expositions to form economic thinking was studied. The need to turn the traditional paradigm of the museum as a center for preserving historical values into the educational interaction between the tourist student and the objects of the museum’s collection was proved. The article describes the content of the two-stage pedagogical experiment (between 2014 and 2018). The first stage explores the possibility of using educational museum tours and historically significant territories of cities as a method of studying the history of regional economics in the context of seminars. The author’s pedagogical product, that is regional thematic tours on the history of economics, was presented. The second stage develops and verifies the methodology of using online resources of Ukrainian museums (virtual tours, virtual exhibits) to organize the independent work of students in the context of this subject. The thematic catalog of online resources of Ukrainian museums for conducting research activities within this subject was created. The article presents research activities with the exposition of the virtual museum in the framework of the independent work of students. Abstract:
Abstract History museums in old industrial regions are important agents in the current debate on how we perceive work in our society. One of their key issues is how work built the region and how it changed in the context of deindustrialization. The article explores the depictions of work in the Ruhr Museum, which is the central regional history museum of the foremost region of heavy industry in Germany. It shows that with few exceptions the representations of the past in this museum include only images of standardized male industrial work, mainly in the coal and steel industries. Furthermore, it demonstrates that in the sections of the museum dedicated to the present, work has disappeared almost entirely from the representations, to be replaced with representations of culture, including industrial heritage, and lifestyles. In light of these findings the article argues that this way of presenting (and not presenting) work emphasizes the break between the past and the present. It homogenizes the historical narrative of work while making current work forms invisible and downplaying the continuing importance of the world of work. Instead, the museum tells a story of loss that requires compensation by culture.
