Abstract:
Abstract. The tropospheric ozone depletion event (ODE), first observed at Barrow (now known as Utqiaġvik), Alaska, is a phenomenon that frequently occurs during the springtime in the Arctic. In this study, we performed a three-dimensional model study on ODEs occurring at Barrow and its surrounding areas between 28 March and 6 April 2019 using a 3-D multi-scale air quality model, CMAQ (Community Multiscale Air Quality Modeling System). Several ODEs observed at Barrow were captured, and two of them were thoroughly analyzed using the process analysis method to estimate contributions of horizontal transport, vertical transport, dry deposition, and the overall chemical process to the variations in ozone and bromine species during ODEs. We found that the ODE occurring between 30 and 31 March 2019 (referred to as ODE1) was primarily caused by the horizontal transport of low-ozone air from the Beaufort Sea to Barrow. The formation of this low-ozone air over the sea was largely attributed to a release of sea-salt aerosols from the Bering Strait under strong wind conditions, stemming from a cyclone generated on the Chukotka Peninsula. It was also discovered that the surface ozone dropped to less than 5 ppb over the Beaufort Sea, and the overall chemical process contributed up to 10 ppb to the ozone loss. Moreover, BrO over the sea reached a maximum of approximately 80 ppt. This low-ozone air over the sea was then horizontally transported to Barrow, leading to the occurrence of ODE1. Regarding another ODE on 2 April (ODE2), we found that its occurrence was also dominated by the horizontal transport from the sea, but under the control of an anticyclone. The termination of this ODE was mainly attributed to the replenishment of ozone-rich air from the free troposphere by a strong vertical transport.

Abstract:
This theme was inspired by the RRI Kendari program at the event of networking culture organized by the Regional Office of Sulawesi on May 15, 2017. La Ode and Wa Ode were noble titles or at least considered the prayers from parents to their children so that their children would become leaders or nobles in the future. In addition, La Ode and Wa Ode were the acronyms of the two statements of the Islamic creed. The word "La" stands for La Ilaha Ilallah while the word "Wa" stems from Wa Asyahadu Anna Muhammad Darasulullah. This paper aims to explore cultural values in the naming of La Ode and Wa Ode in the communities of Muna and Buton. The method used was descriptive analytics through observation and interviews. This study found that La Ode and Wa Ode's naming has changed, although, at the same time, it has become a cultural heritage of the Indonesian archipelago. Furthermore, along with the development of globalization, La Ode and Wa Ode have experienced cultural degradation to some extent. Thus, the addition of La Ode and Wa Ode is not always attached to the title of nobility.

Abstract:
Background: Optic disc oedema (ODE) is an important manifestation in various ocular as well as systemic disorders. Measurement of retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness in ODE patients may help in monitoring the progress of the disease and treatment response. Objective: To assess the clinical characteristics, aetiology and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) imaging features of optic disc oedema (ODE) patients. Design: A retrospective observational study. Methods: This hospital-based study included performed for patients presenting with unilateral or bilateral ODE at the ophthalmology outpatient department of a tertiary institute between January 2019 and December 2019. Clinical features of all ODE patients were noted. RNFL thickness was measured by spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (Cirrus 500, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Dublin, CA, USA). Results: Sixty-four patients with ODE were seen with female preponderance (56.2%). The mean age of presentation was 36.8 ± 13.8 years. Bilateral ODE was seen in 57.8% patients. The most common cause of bilateral ODE was idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and vascular papillopathy. Retinal vein occlusion (RVO)-associated ODE was the most common unilateral presentation. Presenting visual acuity was best with IIH and worst with anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (AION). The mean duration of symptoms was maximum with intracranial space-occupying lesion associated papilloedema and minimum with AION. The mean RNFL thickness was highest in uveitis-associated ODE, followed by compressive ON, and IIH. A positive correlation was noted between clinical ODE severity and RNFL thickness. All aetiological categories (except uveitic and compressive) had maximum RNFL thickening in the inferior quadrant and minimum in the temporal quadrant. Conclusion: The current study provides a clinical profile and RNFL measurements of ODE patients at this locality. The clinical severity of ODE correlated positively with RNFL thickness and most of the categories of ODE followed the normative pattern of RNFL thickness (inferior > superior > nasal > temporal) despite thickening.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Despite its mainstreaming into the broader educational ecology, open and distance education (ODE) still leaves much to be desired in terms of both practice and research. Inspired and informed by the author’s 35 years of experience as an ODE practitioner, researcher, reviewer, and editor, this article concentrates on 10 critical issues of ODE research that have long existed but may have a consequential impact on its healthy growth. The issues discussed cover scarcity of longitudinal research, paucity of scaling-up and generalization research, preference for success over failure presented in research, the need for a systems approach, lack of sociocultural sensitivity, technologization of research, scant attention to ODE for the underprivileged and disadvantaged, insufficient research on ODE policy, negligence of historical research, and disinterest in revisiting ODE theories. The causes of these problems are critically interpreted and their possible negative impacts on the field of ODE are explored in a concise manner. The purpose of this article is to encourage further discussion and debate on ODE research to sustain its presence and acceptance as a legitimate mode of education in the wider educational community.

Abstract:
The research about Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) has increased more widely since 1970. Therefore, several published articles in some journals can be found in some sources. This paper aims to provide an overview of the learning differential equation in higher education based on relevant literature. Therefore, we are interested in conducting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology from 24 articles generated from Top 5 Scopus Q1 according to SJR reported by Scimago Journal Country Rank in the subject area of education. The present study focuses on two aspects, namely: 1) the learning method of ODE that is proposed in the academic literature, and 2) the topic of ODE has been put forward and discussed in the academic literature. The systematic literature review found four methods of learning ODE (active learning, mathematical modelling, information, and technology communication, and geometric and qualitative solutions). Moreover, we also concluded that the several topics of ODE in the academic literature are 1) first order of ODE, 2) Euler method, 3) application to the problem (rate of change, population model, logistic generalized, and spring-mass), 4) second-order of ODE, and 5) system of ODE. The result of this study can provide a summary of existing literature and identify the weakness or gap to be investigated further in the following research related to the topic of ODE.
