Abstract:
The SU(3) octet states with baryon number B = 2, hexaquark dibaryons, are considered. We extend previous work and determine strong decay coupling constants sum rules with first-order SU(3) symmetry breaking for dibaryon octet into two ordinary baryon octets and into a baryon octet plus a baryon decuplet. Possibilities for the experimental observation of multibaryon and anti-multibaryon states are pointed out.

Abstract:
In this talk we report on the use of a chiral unitary approach for the interaction of the octets of meson and baryon and the octet of mesons with the decuplet of baryons. Two octets of Jπ=1/2- baryon states and a singlet are generated dynamically in the first case, resulting in the case of strangeness S=-1 in two poles of the scattering matrix close to the nominal Λ(1405) resonance. In the second case many resonances are also generated, among them an exotic baryon with S=1 corresponding to a ΔK resonance. We make suggestions of experiments which could show evidence for the existence of these states.

We investigate the Jp = 1/2- baryons in the octets based on flavor SU(3) symmetry. Since baryons with same quantum numbers can mix with each other, we consider the mixing between two octets before their mixing with the singlet. Most predicted decay widths are consistent with the experimental data, and meanwhile we predict two possible Ξ mass ranges of the two octets.

Abstract:
Within the framework of the generalized linear sigma model with glueballs recently proposed,[Formula: see text] we study the schematic spectroscopy of scalar and pseudoscalar mesons in the SU(3) flavor limit and explore their quark and glue contents. In this framework, for both scalars and pseudoscalars, the two octet physical states are admixtures of quark–antiquark and four-quark components, and the three singlet states contain quark–antiquark, four-quark and glue components. We identify the two scalar octets with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] and the two pseudoscalar octets with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. We show that, as expected, the light pseudoscalar octet is made dominantly of quark–antiquarks whereas the light scalar octet has a reversed substructure with a dominant four-quark component. The case of singlets is more complex due to surplus of states up to around 2 GeV. We consider all 35 permutations for identifying the three pseudoscalar singlets of our model with three of the seven experimental candidates. Our numerical simulation unambiguously identifies the lightest and the heaviest pseudoscalar singlets with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], respectively, and favors the identification of the middle singlet with either [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] (or, to a lesser extent, with [Formula: see text]) and thereby allows a probe of their substructures. We then estimate the quark and glue components and find that the three pseudoscalar singlets (from lightest to heaviest) are mainly of quark–antiquark, four-quark and glue substructure, while the corresponding three scalar singlets (from lightest to heaviest) are of four-quark, quark–antiquark and glue contents. The masses of pure pseudoscalar and scalar glueballs are estimated around 2.0 and 1.6 GeV, respectively.

Abstract:
The light scalar nonets are studied using the QCD sum rules for the tetraquark operators. The operator product expansion for the correlators is calculated up to dimension 12 and this enables us to perform analyses retaining sufficient pole-dominance. To classify the light scalar nonets, we investigate the dependence on current quark mass and flavor dynamics. Especially, to examine the latter, we study separately SU(3) singlet and octet states, and show that the number of annihilation diagrams is largely responsible for their differences, which is also the case even after the inclusion of the finite quark mass. Our results support the tetraquark picture for isosinglets, while that for octets is not conclusive yet.

Abstract:
This paper performs integrated performance evaluation, including preamble detection in the Smart Body Area Networks (SmartBAN) physical layer (PHY). The system specifications for a PHY and media access control layer (MAC) in SmartBAN, which is a standard for medical and health care advanced by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), were issued in April 2015. In the PHY, the packet structure has a two-octet preamble, which is used, e.g., for timing synchronization. However, it is considered that the current preamble structure is not appropriate for handling medical and healthcare data that are required to have high reliability because of the too simple structure. Therefore, we propose adding a start frame delimiter (SFD) to correctly detect the header position. Computer simulations indicate that preambles with an SFD consisting of an orthogonal maximal length sequence (M-sequence) perform better than SmartBAN and similar approaches, particularly when transmitting over the IEEE model CM3. In addition, the packet error ratio (PER) and energy efficiency are evaluated in an integrated manner while taking preamble detection into consideration. The numerical results from computer simulations indicated the best performance with respect to PER was achieved using a preamble with orthogonal M-sequences of 4 octets. However, for energy efficiency, better results were obtained using a preamble with orthogonal M-sequences of 2 octets. Additionally, the theoretical analysis found the optimum length of the PHY packet to achieve the maximum energy efficiency with PER less than 10−2.

Abstract:
An original composition in one movement for a chamber octet comprised of a string quartet and a jazz piano quartet with tenor saxophone. The work develops an idée fixe, introduced in the opening bars, through a wide variety of transformations, textures, and styles. The two quartets begin in antiphonal alteration, united in thematic material, yet separated by style. A modern art music style contrasts with an improvisational jazz style. Gradually, the two quartets, and their concomitant musics, bleed into one another, breaking down stylistic boundaries. In the conclusion of the work, the idée fixe, the supplementary themes, and the two quartets coalesce into an organic sonic whole.

Abstract:
The development of variable-stiffness systems is key to the advance of compact engineering solutions in a number of fields. Rigidizable structures exhibit variable-stiffness based on external stimuli. This function is necessary for deployable structures, such as inflatable space antennas, where the deployed structure is semi-permanent. Rigidization is also useful for a wide range of applications, such as prosthetics and exoskeletons, to help support external loads. In general, variable-stiffness designs suffer from a tradeoff between the magnitude of stiffness change and the ability of the structure to resist mechanical failure at any stiffness state. This paper presents the design, analysis, and fabrication of a rigidizable structure based on inflatable octet-truss cells. An octet-truss is a lattice-like configuration of elements, traditionally beams, arranged in a geometry reminiscent of that of the FCC lattice found in many metals; namely, the truss elements are arranged to form a single interior octahedral cell surrounded by eight tetrahedral cells. The interior octahedral cell is the core of the octet-truss unit cell, and is used as the main structure for examining the mechanics of the unit as a whole. In this work, the elements of the inflatable octet truss are pneumatic air muscles, also called McKibben actuators. Generalized McKibben actuators are a type of tubular pneumatic actuator that possess the ability to either contract or expand axially due to an applied pressure. Their unique kinematics are achieved by using a fiber wrap around an isotropic elastomeric shell. Under normal conditions, pressurizing the isotropic shell causes expansion in all directions, like a balloon. The fiber wrap constrains the ability of the shell to freely expand, due to the fiber stiffness. The wrap geometry thus guides the extensile/contractile motion of the actuator by controlling its kinematics. It is their ability to contract under pressure that makes McKibben actuators unique, and consequently they are of great interest presently to the robotics community due to their similitude to organic muscles. Kinematic analysis from constrained maximization of the shell volume during pressurization is used to obtain relations between the input work due to applied pressure and the resulting shape change due to strain energy. Analytical results are presented to describe the truss stiffness as a function of the McKibben geometry at varying pressures.

Abstract:
In the rapidly growing field of additive manufacturing (AM), the focus in recent years has shifted from prototyping to manufacturing fully functional, ultralight, ultrastiff end-use parts. This research investigates the mechanical behavior of octahedral and octet lattice structured polyacrylate fabricated using Continuous Liquid Interface Production (CLIP) technology based on 3D printing and additive manufacturing processes. Five different octahedral structures and seven different octet structures with relative densities ranging from approximately 0.07 to 0.35 were fabricated by changing the strut diameter. The minimum diameter of the strut elements is 0.50 mm and 0.35 mm for the octahedral and octet structures, respectively. The different relative density structures were tested in compression in the as-fabricated state and after they were UV cured. The compressive stress-strain behavior of the lattice structures observed is typical of cellular structures which include a region of nominally elastic response, yielding, and plastic strain hardening to a peak in strength, followed by a drop in flow stress. It was found that the stiffness and strength of octahedral lattice structures is greater than the stiffness and strength of octet lattice structures at all relative densities for both as printed/fabricated and UV cured parts, and the ratio of stiffness and strength of UV cured parts to as fabricated parts decreases as the relative density increases. However, the ratio of stiffness and strength of UV cured parts to as fabricated parts for octet lattice structures in general is greater than that for octahedral structures. This can be attributed to the relative diameter of the struts and the depth of UV curing.
