Abstract:
Given the limitations of existing measures of self-objectification, the purpose of the two studies presented in this article was to develop and validate a new measure of self-objectification, the Self-Objectification Beliefs and Behaviors Scale (SOBBS). In Study 1, a total of 654 women completed an online questionnaire including a pool of items designed to measure self-objectification. The item pool was constructed through focus groups and consultation with subject matter experts. Participants also completed existing measures of self-objectification and related constructs. A subset of participants completed the item pool at a 2-week interval to allow for assessment of test–retest reliability. A 14-item, two-factor measure of self-objectification was derived through exploratory factor analysis. Data provided evidence for the SOBBS’s internal consistency and test–retest reliability as well as its convergent, discriminant, and incremental validity via its relations with interpersonal sexual objectification, body image, disordered eating, and depression. In Study 2, the factor structure of the SOBBS was reevaluated using confirmatory factor analysis and validity was again evaluated; SOBBS scores correlated with public body consciousness, private and public self-consciousness, self-esteem, and sexual functioning. We discuss implications for assessment of self-objectification as part of efforts in prevention and treatment of body image and eating disturbances. We hope the development of a new measure of self-objectification prompts further study of the topic and that increased knowledge about self-objectification allows clinicians and researchers to develop interventions that foster greater resilience against sexual objectification.

Abstract:
The specific narrative feature of ‘evaluation’, as described by Labov and Waletzky (1967/97), is not a discrete and secondary structure, but rather is embedded in the continuous acts of description that constitute a story, as well in the second-order evaluations provided by reported speech. Making use of Bakhtin’s (1984) concepts of polyphony and dialogism and recent work on ‘active voicing’, it is argued that (a) evaluation is a continuous and constantly shifting process within the narrative encounter; and (b) within this process, polyphony becomes a means towards the objectification of personal experience. Narratives are not the static discourses of literary theory and structuralist analysis, but dialogically evolving episodes of interaction, in which evaluations are frequently co-constructed between speaker and listener. Abstract:
Using objectification theory (Fredrickson & Roberts, 1997), this study tested the interaction between self-objectification, appearance evaluation, and self-esteem in predicting body satisfaction and mood states. Participants (N = 93) were physically active female university students. State self-objectification was manipulated by participants wearing tight revealing exercise attire (experimental condition) or baggy exercise clothes (control condition). Significant interactions emerged predicting depression, anger, fatness, and satisfaction with body shape and size. For participants in the self-objectification condition who had low (as opposed to high) appearance evaluation, low self-esteem was associated with high depression, anger, and fatness and low satisfaction with body shape and size. In contrast, for participants with high self-esteem, these mood and body satisfaction states were more favorable irrespective of their levels of appearance evaluation. For female exercisers, self-esteem-enhancing strategies may protect against some of the negative outcomes of self-objectification.

Abstract:
This study reports on the development and psychometric evaluation of the Interpersonal Sexual Objectification Scale (ISOS). Data from 576 college women were collected in three studies. Exploratory factor analysis uncovered two factors: Body Evaluation and Unwanted Explicit Sexual Advances; confirmatory factor analysis supported this factor structure. ISOS scores were internally consistent and stable over a 3-week period. Supporting its construct validity, ISOS scores were (a) strongly related to sexist degradation; (b) slightly to moderately related to other sexist events, self-objectification (i.e., body surveillance and internalization of the thin-ideal), and body shame; and (c) unrelated to socially desirable responding. The relationship between ISOS scores and body shame was fully mediated by self-objectification, providing additional evidence for its construct validity. Furthermore, the ISOS garnered incremental validity, as it predicted self-objectification above and beyond the variance accounted for by sexist events.

Abstract:
Objectification has been found to have negative consequences on how women are perceived by others. However in an even more sexualized world being a sexual object has become a standard of physical attractiveness for women and objectification could foster a positive evaluation increasing attractiveness. Although Objectification Theory was originally grounded in women?s experiences, some research points to the promise of Objectification Theory for understanding men?s experiences as well. The aim of the paper was investigating the effects of objectification on gender stereotypes and perceived attractiveness. Two experimental studies were conducted. Study 1 (N=139) investigated the effects of objectification on female targets. Study 2 (N=146) investigated the effects on male targets. In both studies three dependent variables were considered: communality, agency, and attractiveness. Results of Study 1 revealed that objectified women were considered less communal and more attractive. Moreover, men perceived objectified women less agentic than the non-objectified ones, whereas women showed the opposite perception. Concerning men, objectification has a limited impact, as it interacted with participants? gender only on communality: men considered objectified males more communal than the non-objectified ones, while women revealed the opposite perception.

Abstract:
Sexual objectification as a form of sexist discrimination accounts for the higher prevalence of psychological problems among women. More specifically, sexual objectification manifests itself in different ways with different intensities, in turn affecting women’s psychological well-being differently. On one hand, experiences of body evaluation are more subtle and work by perpetuating sexist attitudes among women themselves. On the other hand, more explicit forms of sexual objectification (unwanted explicit sexual advances) are linked to higher levels of anxiety and lower levels of self-esteem. The first study, on a sample of 343 Spanish women, aims to analyze the consequences of different forms of sexual objectification on women’s psychological well-being and the effect of sexism and enjoyment of objectification on these consequences. The second study, on a sample of 144 Spanish women, focuses on analyzing the ideological variables that have an effect on response to acts of sexist discrimination. Both studies reveal the significance of the more subtle experiences of sexual objectification as a mechanism that plays a part in keeping women in a subordinate position, where they end up feeling that this process is positive or pleasing.

Abstract:
Aim of the study. To analyze the correlation between proliferative activities determined on the basis of routine histological staining and immunohistochemical reaction to the nuclear antigen Ki-67 in colorectal adenocarcinomas. Methods. Thirty adenocarcinomas of the colon and rectum were retrospectively evaluated. Evaluation of proliferative activity was performed on serial histological preparations stained with hematoxylin and eosin and treated with antibodies to Ki-67. Calculation was carried out in the “hot spots” under four microscope high power fields (≈1 mm2). Results. An estimate of the Kendall rank correlation coefficient demonstrated a high degree of direct relationship between the number of mitoses counted by routine staining and proliferative activity estimated by the immunohistochemical method (τ = 0.708, p < 0.05). All observations on the dispersion diagram could be divided into three “cloud” clusters with similar values for Ki-67 with practically the same number of mitoses. Conclusions. On the basis of routine histological examination, it is possible to separate colorectal carcinomas from tumors with a low (1-2/mm2), moderate (3-5/mm2), and high (≥6/mm2) mitotic activity corresponding to the proliferation index values of Ki-67 <30%, 30%-50%, and >50%, respectively.

Abstract:
Objectification theory postulates that societal norms influence women to internalize cultural standards of beauty and thinness as their own. The consequences of objectification experiences include body shame, anxiety, body surveillance, and internalization of the thin ideal. Self-presentation theory suggests that individuals attempt to control and manage impressions when they perceive they are being evaluated by others. Previous research has documented the role of apparel in objectification of women and how women use apparel to create particular impressions. Research has also documented how objectification and self-presentation mediates reasons and motivations for exercise. However, qualitative explorations of women’s thoughts and feelings regarding exercise apparel as a motivator or deterrent for physical activity within these frameworks are lacking. In the current study, twelve recreationally active women were interviewed to understand their perceptions of exercise apparel in relation to their exercise environment and motivation to exercise. Two higher order themes emerged: exercise apparel as a tool for the optimal exercise experience (lower order themes: comfort, functionality of clothing, and reciprocal relationship between motivation and affect) and societal influences shaping exercise apparel choices (lower order themes: social influence and social comparison within the exercise setting, the cultural standard, and past experiences of evaluation). For the women in our study, exercise apparel serves as both a motivator and deterrent for exercise and certain exercise apparel contributes to self-presentation concerns within the exercise setting.

Abstract:
The article deals with the development and modification of the emotional evaluation of the adjective radostny (English – joyful) in terms of conceptualisation of emotions. The paper includes the comparison of its dictionary definitions, etymological data and interpretation in terms of emotional evaluation. Special attention is paid to the processes of conceptualisation of emotional evaluation by means of the extension of the adjective denotation sphere, denotative shift from perceptible objects to invisible objects, from form to content. As a result, the adjective radostny receives intellectual and aesthetic shades of meaning. The denotative shift referring to negative denotation modifies the dominant category feature – a positive evaluation component. It leads to the weakening and neutralization of the positive evaluation. The analysis of use, as applied to the examples in the Russian National Corpus, verifies the basic characteristics of emotional evaluation (subjectivity and uncertainty) and helps to identify its important characteristics (communicativeness, efficiency, attractiveness). The study takes into account the forms of objectification of radostny evaluation, time factor and typical genres.

Abstract Two experiments probed the role of strategies used in social conflicts on perception of agency and communion. In study 1, persons who revealed prosocial orientation were perceived as less agentic, but more communal than those who revealed competitive orientation. In study 2 these findings were replicated in the context of organizational conflict, those who decided to use confrontational strategies were also perceived as more agentic, although less communal than these who used cooperative strategies. In line with the theory of power effects on objectification of social targets, the perceived agency and communion were differently linked to superior’s and subordinate’s evaluation. While perceived agency predicted the subordinate’s evaluation, perceived communion predicted superior’s evaluation, but not the other way round. Moreover, perception of communion (but not agency) mediated the negative effect of confrontational strategies on supervisor’s evaluation. On the other hand, perceived agency suppressed the effect of strategies on subordinate’s evaluation.

Abstract:
This study provides an overview of the recent literature regarding the assessment methods of the functional state of the locomotor system in children with cerebral palsy. The objective methods of quantitative assessment of motor disorders in cerebral palsy are presented, including the measurement of stability, biomechanical assessment of walking, and video analysis of movements. The influence of the cognitive load on the ability to maintain the vertical posture in children with cerebral palsy as well as the changes in the stability of the vertical posture with closed eyes were observed. Changes in the walking parameters with an increase in the speed were also recorded in children with cerebral palsy. Methods that assess hand motion in children with cerebral palsy include tests involving the moving of objects, tests for speed assessment in joint movements, and video analysis of motions. The methods and tests for such an evaluation require to be valid and reliable, allowing an objective assessment of the severity of motor disorders in cerebral palsy.

Abstract:
The subjective evaluation of vehicle ride comfort is costly and time-consuming but is crucial for vehicle development. To reduce the cost and time, the objectification of subjective evaluation has been widely studied, and most of the approaches use a regression model between objective metrics and subjective ratings. However, the accuracy of these approaches is highly dependent on the selection of the objective metrics. In most of the methods, it is not clear that the selected metrics are sufficiently significant or whether all significant metrics are included in the selection. This paper presents a method to build a correlation model between measurements and subjective evaluations without using predefined features or objective metrics. A numerical representation of ride comfort was extracted from raw signals based on the idea of the artistic style transfer method. The correlation model was designed based on the extracted numerical representation and subjective ratings. The model has a much better accuracy than any other correlation models in the literature. This better accuracy is contributed to not only by using a neural network, but also by the extraction of the numerical representation of ride comfort using a pre-trained neural network.

Abstract:
The Good Consumer offers a historical account of consumer credit reporting in the United States, from its nineteenth-century antecedents in commercial credit reporting through its professionalization and transformation into a key communication infrastructure during the first half of the twentieth century. While describing the technical and institutional development of the modern credit bureau, The Good Consumer draws special attention to one of the most consequential effects of credit reporting: the invention of financial identity. Formalized systems of credit evaluation produced their own categories of social reality and fostered new forms of economic objectification. The title refers to the “goodness” of credit consumers in several contexts: as prompt paying customers, trustworthy and morally upright citizens, profitable target markets, and collectively as a vital force behind the growth of the twentiethcentury American economy.

Abstract:
Annotation. The lack of unified approach or algorithm for expert assessment of the endodontic treatment quality is the reason for registration of various prevalence indicators considering unsuccessful outcomes of pulpitis and periodontitis treatment, misinterpretation of the results and occurrence of problematic situations during the process of forensic dental assessment of iatrogenic dental status changes. Objective – to systematize and analyze the existing problematic aspects of expert assessment of the endodontic treatment quality and identify the most reasoned approaches for objectification of the endodontic interventions consequences. During provided research the calculation methodologies of indexes designed for assessing the consequences and results of endodontic treatment were studied. Additionally, a retrospective analysis of publications with described cases of complex and commission forensic medical and forensic dental examinations of dental care defects was provided, including endodontic treatment cases, cases with errors during endodontic interventions, and also relevant expert conclusions. Revealed that following index indicators could be used as the most expedient approaches for the objectification of endodontic interventions consequences: Peri-Apical Index (PAI), CBCT-PAI, Complex Periapical Index (COPI), Endodontically Treated Tooth Index (ETTI) and PESS (Periapical and Endodontic Status Scale); however, such indexes do not fully assess the quality of iatrogenic manipulations in the structure of the endodont. Thus, for a comprehensive assessment of the derived parameters associated with the dental treatment quality, and quality of endodontic interventions in particular, it is advisable to include in the forensic dental evaluation protocol the main domains, such as technical characteristics, level of patient satisfaction, level of service provided, additional components of the treatment process, and also additional ones, such as verification of experience, quantification of quality of life associated with changes in dental status, and stratification of the effectiveness of treatment.

The objectives of the paper were to evaluate carcass value in reared gilts on the basis of carcass analysis during the station test of purebred progeny of pigs and ultrasonically with Sonomark-100 or Piglog-105 instruments in the framework of valid methodology for performance testing, and to verify a pos-sibility of prediction of backfat thickness and/or average daily weight gain since birth and lean meat content of gilts as the elements of objectification for the evaluation of their body condition. In total 54 gilts of two breeds were evaluated: the dam breed Czech Large White and the sire breed Czech Large White – sire line. Four-parameter Richards function was used for growth evaluation. The regression function y = 63.870 – 0.447 bt1 – 0.510 bt2 + 0.128 MLLT was applied in ultrasonic instruments for the calculation of lean meat content. We calculated linear regression functions for the conversion of performance testing parameters (gain from birth, average backfat thickness and lean meat content) from live weight on the day of measurement per live weight declared during selections in gilts.

Abstract:
The integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Western health systems and research requires a rational communicable theory, scientific proof of efficacy and safety, and quality control measures. The existence of clear definitions and the diagnosis standardization are critical factors to establish the patient’s vegetative functional status accurately and, therefore, systematically apply TCM therapeutics such as the stimulation of reflex skin areas known as acupoints. This science-based conceptualization entails using validated methods, or even developing new systems able to parameterize the diagnosis and assess TCM related effects by objective measurements. Traditionally, tongue and pulse diagnosis and the functional evaluation of action points by pressure sensitivity and physical examination may be regarded as essential diagnostic tools. Parameterizing these techniques is a future key point in the objectification of TCM diagnosis, such as by electronic digital image analysis, mechanical pulse diagnostic systems, or the systematic evaluation of acupoints’ electrophysiology. This review aims to demonstrate and critically analyze some achievements and limitations in the clinical application of device-assisted TCM diagnosis systems to evaluate functional physiological patterns. Despite some limitations, tongue, pulse, and electrophysiological diagnosis devices have been reported as a useful tool while establishing a person’s functional status.

Abstract:
The axiological features of the TRANSFORMATION concept are identified and analyzed in the article. The identification of these features was based on contextual analysis. Axiological features are elements of meaning that represent the positive / negative attitude of the speaker to the conceptualized phenomenon as a whole or to its separate conceptual features, such as 1) immoral – moral, pretended – real; 2) backward – progressive, irrelevant – relevant, unpopular – popular; 3) evil – kind, aggressive – peaceful, dangerous – safe; 4) disharmonious – harmonious; 5) nasty – pleasant, hated – beloved; 6) traditional – innovative; 7) sick – healthy. The results of the research show that conceptual features with a positive evaluation usually do not have certain means of linguistic expression, most often their implementation is carried out in context. Semantic concordance of the nominates of the TRANSFORMATION concept with the words bad, evil, harmful, unattractive, aggressive, sick, disharmonious, etc. can be the means of expressing the speaker’s negative attitude to the described phenomenon of transformation. The obtained results indicate the predominance of a negative evaluation over a positive one. Features that express a negative evaluation are more diverse. They are presented in the denotative meaning of a number of lexical units, which indicates their importance in the objectification of the TRANSFORMATION concept. On the other hand, a positive evaluation of the described facts and phenomena is not always recorded. Axiological features of the concept belong to the peripheral zone of the field, or the interpretive field of the concept.

Abstract:
The real values of plastic properties of steel sheets are basic input parameters for objectification of deep drawing technological processes. The loss of stability of plastic properties is the criterion of evaluation of plastic properties of steel sheets in most cases. The loss of stability of plastic properties depends on stress-strain scheme in real conditions of deep drawing of sheets. In the contribution will be evaluated the loss of plastic properties stability of thin double reduced packaging sheets made from low carbon steels. For evaluation of strength and plastic properties of thin packaging sheets is the tensile test most used at present. The material is stressed by uniaxial tension during this test. In the conditions of technological processes of drawing, which thin packaging sheets are mostly treating, is this way of stress not very objective. In most cases it deals about multiaxial stress of sheet by deformation of sheet to require draw cup. At the present, the biggest problem of thin steel sheets by uniaxial tension test evaluation is the loss of plastic deformation stability (localization of plastic deformation). Therefore, obtained results of plastic deformation during this test do not correspond with real plastic properties of thin steel sheets. In the contribution, will be compared the evaluation of plastic properties of these sheets by uniaxial and biaxial load. Biaxial load is unfavourable from stress point, but less sensitive on loss stability of plastic deformation from conditions test influence point.

Abstract:
From critical rationality, new ways of thinking about theory and evaluative practice have emerged with a sense of the contextual partner and human, propitiating the sociohistorical and cultural subject recovery that it is required to communities’ development. Therefore, this paper has as objective to reveal the constitutive bases of the evaluation by competence, detached from the subjective to envision another notion like power. For this, critical hermeneutics was used as a methodological way to get into the evaluative reality, showing two possible edges of its task: the objectification of the educational subject or its emancipation. In this sense, the ideas of Freire (2006), Foucault (1990), Deleuze and Guattari (1999), served as support to propose an evaluation like powering of the most human human being, who by empowering himself of his subjectivity, he re-invents reality in collective as an intersubjective expression .That is to say, an evaluation of the sensitive, the creative and the autonomous, intrinsic in the formation, which will resurface as emancipatory and vitalist empowerment of the pedagogical praxis, from an ontology another of its doing. In sum, current socio-educational demands lead to a new ontoepistemology of evaluation in order to emancipate transformation of being of education. To do this, we have to get rid of technical and instrumental notions and practices, thus drawing new leakage lines in their events, constituting it in a space for the empowerment of the human.

The discussion in this paper focuses on the contributions of Ibn Abî Hâtim al-Razi in the Jarh wa Ta'dil Science. This paper comes from library research. The method that used is descriptive-history-analysis. With this intellectual history approach, this paper finds that Ibn Abî Hâtim al-Razi's biggest contribution is seen in some basic theories of jarh wa ta'dil, ie the collective ta'dil which then develops into the theory of “kullu shahabah udul” (all of the companions are fairness), objectification of the evaluation of the narrators of the hadith, and the rating of the narrators of the hadith, both in terms of jarh and ta'dil. Ibn Abi Hatim divided the ranks both on ta'dil or tajrih of hadiths narrators into four levels, those who doubt the critics of the hadith, the fair narrators, the strong history, the content of the report, the religion, the guardianship of the hadith, and the fearful, the truthful and the wizards, but sometimes mistaken, and Being honest and frank, but a lot of things go wrong.Keywordi: Ibn Abî Ḥâtim, Jarḥ, Ta’dîl, Hadis, ‘Udûl

Abstract:
Excessive focus on appearance or lookism requires social attention as it can have negative consequences on individuals’ psychological and mental states related to health and sustainable social practice. As part of a healthy and sustainable social practice, this study tests the mechanism of enhancing appearance-related health campaign’s effectiveness through the O1-S-O2-R framework. Participants were 220 Korean college students with being 141 male and 78 female and they completed an on-line survey. The result of SEM analyses confirmed the O1-S-O2-R model. As the result of hypotheses testing, health campaign contents suggesting anti-lookism and diverse beauty standards have attracted the attention of people whose parents conversed using relatively less healthy-appearance talk when growing up and who had higher self-objectification scores with body surveillance and body shame. Interpersonal conversations and thoughts on the media content played a mediating role in the model, while health campaigns had a higher persuasive effect on campaign evaluation and the behavior intention of spreading the campaign’s content. Implications of the findings were discussed regarding health campaign designers and individuals, including parents, in education settings.

Abstract:
The non-consensual sharing of an intimate image is a serious breach of a person’s right to privacy and can lead to severe psychosocial consequences. However, little research has been conducted on the reasons for consuming intimate pictures that have been shared non-consensually. This study aims to investigate how the supposed consensual or non-consensual distribution of sexting images affects the perception and evaluation of these images. Participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups. The same intimate images were shown to all participants. However, one group assumed that the photos were shared voluntarily, whereas the other group were told that the photos were distributed non-consensually. While the participants completed several tasks such as rating the sexual attractiveness of the depicted person, their eye-movements were being tracked. The results from this study show that viewing behavior and the evaluation of sexting images are influenced by the supposed way of distribution. In line with objectification theory men who assumed that the pictures were distributed non-consensually spent more time looking at the body of the depicted person. This so-called ‘objectifying gaze’ was also more pronounced in participants with higher tendencies to accept myths about sexual aggression or general tendencies to objectify others. In conclusion, these results suggest that prevention campaigns promoting ‘sexting abstinence’ and thus attributing responsibility for non-consensual distribution of such images to the depicted persons are insufficient. Rather, it is necessary to emphasize the illegitimacy of the non-consensual distribution of sexting images, especially among male consumers of the material.

Abstract:
It has been well-documented that women face pressures to conform to a slim, toned, and athletic body, becoming “tyrannised” by beauty ideals. Under these contemporary ideologies of perfectionism, women are placed under constant surveillance, evaluation and, objectification and are thus reduced to “being” their bodies. However, there is little known about the potential relationships between different types of exercise, body image, and exercise motivation. With this in mind, this paper contributes towards a small but developing body of research that utilises feminist phenomenology to reveal twelve women’s early embodied motivations for exercising and draws upon material gathered from a three-year ethnography into the embodied experiences of women in fitness cultures. This paper delves into the influences on their continued participation over time and explores how these experiences shape their understandings of the embodied self and the broader constructions of the gendered body. The discussion provided illuminates how early influences on exercise participation and how pressures on women to conform to dominant notions of the “feminine” body are imposed by structural, cultural, historical, and localised forces in ways that affect and shape future physical activity participation, and the physical cultures where these tensions are played out.

It is preferable to use types of tasks similar to those worked out in the system of the correctional-developing approach for objectification of dynamic changes results. The performance indicators of the correctional course are qualitative and quantitative changes identified in the proposed control tasks. Tasks, selected as control, reflect the level of development or deficiency of mechanisms, ensuring functioning of individual higher mental functions. The priority is given to the qualitative indicators of completed tasks in relation to specific indicators, whereas the quantitative – pace indicators provide information on the degree of stability, the automation of the requisite types of activities with age taking into account. Abstract:
We examined whether appearance compliments, despite their flattery, undermine cognitive performance. In Study 1, women participants ( N = 88 Israeli university students) who wrote about past situations in which they had received appearance compliments (but not competence-related compliments) showed worse math performance than women in a control/no compliment condition—especially if they scored high on trait self-objectification (TSO). In Study 2, men and women participants ( nwomen = 73, nmen = 75 Israeli university students) received bogus occupational evaluation feedback, which did or did not include an appearance compliment. Although appearance compliments led to mood improvement among participants with high TSO, they also undermined math performance among both women and men. Because receiving appearance compliments is a common experience for women (whereas men are typically complimented for their competencies), our findings suggest that appearance compliments serve as a mechanism that might subtly perpetuate gender inequality. For the promotion of societal gender equality, it is important that the public is aware that appearance compliments, even if meant well, may create sexist environments. Abstract:
Introduction Progressive multiplanar static deformity of the forefoot can result in hallux valgus, metatarsus primus varus, transverse flat foot and associated overload of the metatarsophalangeal joints (MTPJ) with plantar plate degeneration and rupture of MPT joints of the lesser toes leading to hammertoe deformity. Diagnostic ultrasound in the identification of plantar plate tears is easy to use at any medical center of the Russian Federation with orthopaedic services and provide a relatively inexpensive option compared with other advanced imaging modalities. The goal was to present ultrasound technology for accurate evaluation of the severity of plantar plate injury which may provide guidance for surgical treatment of hammertoe deformity of the lesser toes in patients with multiplanar static forefoot deformity. Material and methods The study recruited 88 participants with multiplanar static deformity of the forefoot, who underwent ultrasound evaluation according to the original method (RF Patent No. 2699383 "Method for determining the type of degenerative rupture of the plantar plate of the metatarsophalangeal joint due to overload metatarsalgia”) to objectify the results of a physical examination with the Hamilton-Thompson test performed for identifying the degree of instability of the MTPJ, and nonparametric analysis was produced with Pearson's Chisquare test. Results Evaluation of the severity of plantar plate injury in the study group of patients (n = 88) with the Hamilton-Thompson test and ultrasound imaging showed diagnostic error in 22.8 % of cases with the use of clinical methods that allowed reasonable reduction of surgical intervention in 2.3 % and substantial correction of the treatment approaches in 20.5 % preventing a complete plantar plate tear. Discussion The ultrasound scanning introduced in the algorithm for diagnosing the degree of plantar plate rupture facilitated an objective approach to the choice of the most appropriate treatment strategy for complicated multiplanar forefoot deformities accompanied by a non-rigid hammertoe deformity of lesser toes. Conclusion Preoperative ultrasound imaging of the plantar surface of the foot for detecting the severity of plantar plate injury should be included in the diagnostic algorithm for patients with complicated multiplanar forefoot deformities accompanied by a non-rigid hammertoe deformity of lesser toes.

Abstract:
In order to stand out from the competition, the quality of a product as subjectively perceived by the customer is becoming increasingly important. If one wants to meet the comprehensive customer requirements, it is no longer sufficient today to develop a product that focuses only on the functional aspects, but it must also fulfil the sensory requirements at the same time. In this paper, a systematic approach is described that first describes the objectification of customer language for describing the textile haptics of automotive interior materials (11 headliners and 15 seat materials). For this purpose, ten textile-specific descriptors were developed in an expert panel. The descriptors used and the measurement of the human-haptic system are summarized in 4 main groups: 1. warmth/cold sensation, 2. friction properties, 3. deformation, 4. surface/topography. Furthermore, the human-tactile parameters (pressure, speed) that humans exert when touching textile surfaces were determined. The human-sensory product evaluation of the textiles was carried out with 116 test persons. Comparative statistical analyses of the technical parameters (e.g. roughness, friction coefficient, wetting index, deformation) and the human characteristics made it possible to create a prognosis model for determining the quality perception of textile car interior materials.

Conclusion: Representations of elderly people with the highest use of Internet were undertaken by accessing hardware, apps and sites, anchored on an idea of the Internet as a means of retrieving information, leisure and interaction. Representations of the elderly with the lowest level of experience were undertaken by computer, based on a sociological perspective and marked by unfavorable attitudes.

Abstract:
In order to assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation measures, a comprehensive examination was conducted using standardized scales and thermal imaging in two groups of patients aged 5–8 years old with spastic forms of cerebral palsy. The sample consisted of 10 children with a diagnosis of G80.1 and 10 with a diagnosis of G80.2, the degree of impaired motor function levels 1 and 2 according to GMFCS. Rehabilitation interventions were carried out for one year in stationary (two times a year, courses of 14 days), outpatient (2–3 courses of massage for 10 days, botulinum therapy) and home (daily exercise) conditions. The complex included physical therapy, kinesiotherapy, mechanotherapy, physiotherapy and reflextherapy, massage, classes with a speech therapist and defectologist, if necessary — pharmacotherapy. A discrepancy in a number of cases of thermal imaging and clinical results of treatment is received, the attempt of theoretical explanation of these discrepancies is made. The possibilities of thermal imaging evaluation of treatment effectiveness in children with spastic forms of cerebral palsy, which allows to count on success in the development of working methods of convenient, non-invasive and high-precision method of objectification of motor disorders at the stages of rehabilitation, are demonstrated. Further improvement of the proposed approach is promising in terms of creating a reliable means of validating standardized clinical scales and questionnaires.

Abstract:
The Terminal Aerodrome Forecast (TAF) is one of the most prominent and widely accepted forecasting tools for flight planning. The reliability of this instrument is crucial for its practical applicability, and its quality may further affect the overall air transport safety and economic efficiency. The presented study seeks to objectify the assessment of the success rate of TAFs in the full breadth of their scope, unlike alternative approaches that typically analyze one selected element. It aspires to submit a complex survey on TAF realization in the context of ANNEX 3 (a regulation for Meteorological Service for International Air Navigation issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)) defined methodology and to provoke a discussion on the clarification and completion of ANNEX 3. Moreover, the adherence of TAFs to ICAO ANNEX 3 (20th Edition) is examined and presented on the example of reports issued in the Czech Republic. The study evaluates the accuracy of TAF forecast verified by Aerodrome Routine Meteorological Report (METAR) and Special Meteorological Report (SPECI), whose quality was assessed first. The required accuracy of TAFs was achieved for most evaluated stations. A discrepancy in terms of formal structure between actually issued reports and the ANNEX 3 defined form was revealed in over 90% of reports. The study identifies ambiguities and contradictions contained in ANNEX 3 that lead to loose interpretations of its stipulations and complicate the objectification of TAF evaluation.

Abstract:
Summary Objectives: The aim of this study is to objectify user critique rendering it usable for quality assurance. Based on formative and summative evaluation results we strive to promote software improvements; in our case, the physician discharge letter composition process at the Department of Dermatology, University Hospital Erlangen, Germany. Methods: We developed a novel six-step approach to objectify user critique: 1) acquisition of user critique using subjectivist methods, 2) creation of a workflow model, 3) definition of hypothesis and indicators, 4) measuring of indicators, 5) analyzing results, 6) optimization of the system regarding both subjectivist and objectivist evaluation results. In particular, we derived indicators and workflows directly from user critique/narratives. The identified indicators were mapped onto work-flow activities, creating a link between user critique and the evaluated system. Results: Users criticized a new discharge letter system as “too slow” and “too labor-intensive” in comparison with the previously used system. In a stepwise approach we collected subjective user critique, derived a comprehensive process model including deviations and deduced a set of five indicators for objectivist evaluation: processing time, system-related waiting time, number of mouse clicks, number of keyboard inputs, and throughput time. About 3500 measurements have been performed to compare the work-flow-steps of both systems, regarding 20 discharge letters.Although the difference of the mean total processing time between both systems was statistically insignificant (2011.7 s vs. 1971.5 s; p = 0.457), we detected a significant difference in waiting times (101.8 s vs. 37.2 s; p < 0.001) and number of user interactions (77 vs. 69; p < 0.001) in favor of the old system, thus objectifying user critique. Conclusions: Our six-step approach enables objectification of user critique, resulting in objective values for continuous quality assurance. To our knowledge no previous study in medical informatics mapped user critique onto workflow steps. Subjectivist analysis prompted us to use the indicator system-related waiting time for the objectivist study, which was rarely done before. We consider combining subjectivist and objectivist methods as a key point of our approach. Future work will concentrate on automated measurement of indicators.
