Full textThe psychiatry lives, since around thirty years, a real institutional, therapeutic and especially, more recently, communicationnal revolution; Leaving the study of the history of the popularization of the psychiatry, its stakes and its social representations, this original and innovative work proposes the analysis of a textual corpus in psychiatry consisted of internal and external esoteric texts and esoteric texts. Proceeding at the same time to a stylometric analysis and an analysis of contents, we have to identify a new discursive type : the metatrope speech, characterized among others, by a specific terminology, by the fact that it adresses so at the same moment the micro-domain and outside the micro-domain of the psychiatry, and especially by its heuristic dimension and its therapeutic function. We can see here one of the explanations of the success there taken away by the popularization of psychiatry

Full textThis study analyses the format in which information on maternal-childhood nutrition is broadcasted to the general public by the two most popular nursing magazines, in 2001 in Brazil and France. Analyse focused mainly on the subject's presentation and the connections between the topic scientific approach and the published information. Evaluating these supports showed evidences that the journalistic material and the publicity are influencing the reader in a way chosen by the writer in France, 25% of the information is broadcasted via a journalistic way whereas 75% uses a commercial way. In Brazil, 75% of the information is broadcasted via a journalistic way against 25% using a commercial way. The reader has no access to complete, neutral and clear information, having consequently no chance to decide on his/her alimentation pattern or behaviour related to his/her food intake. Short journalistic formats conduct to sensationalism on the information and most of them communicate partial scientific research results, disconnected with bias and peculiarities. Nursing magazines pretend to be scientific but they do not respect scientific researches results nor scientific precepts. Because of the huge amount of published information aimed at the general public, the press is the fundamental instrument to broadcast Knowledge on nutrition and alimentation, To improve the scientific information quality broadcasted to a large public in order to really positively raise public awareness on health issues, one strategy could be to find a common area where scientific researchers, health, journalism and communication specialists would collaborate with responsibility and seriousness to vulgarise scientific results

Full textThe purpose of the present work was to study the intratextual reformulation in German popularization texts from a monologistic and dialogic perspective. The first part of our work provides an outline of the concept of reformulation more particularly focused on concepts often considered similar if not identical, such as paraphrases, recurrent formulation, anaphora or synonymy. On analysing the link between what is initially said and its reformulation we tried to define it by carrying out a first theoretical approach of the forms unifying the two segments. The second part of this work is devoted to the study of reformulation and its marking through various examples which make up our corpus. A prior morphological, syntactic, semantico-pragmatic and functional analysis of reformulation has resulted in a more accurate definition of reformulation as a metalingual strategic process, connecting within a discourse production two utterances or utterance segments – the latter to be understood as a reformulation of the former – which partakes of both a global process of information transmission and argumentation. A morphological, syntactic, semantico-pragmatic and functional global approach of the forms participating in the marking of reformulation enabled us to refine our perception of the link between the former formulation and its reformulation. These analyses went together with a thorough description of each form, thus trying to make up for the current shortcomings in research on the German language. This study also revealed that, depending on target audiences, the way of reformulating and the ways of popularizing are intimately bound, and are formally dependent on the addressees

Full textThe history of medicine and the evolution of the hygienist doctrine are traditional historiography topics. However, only a few researches explicitly focused on the medicals roles in the emergence of new eating behaviors. Based on the prosopography method, our work focuses on the evolutions of nutritionals discourses, the prophylactic actions and vulgarization initiatives taken by a medical group concerning elaboration of food recommendations. By studying the eating act in itself as well as the diet, food hygiene, and the learning of good eating habits, these physicians are considered a pioneer group in food hygiene. They introduced the theoretical knowledge and dietetics practices developed in France in the late 19th century. Social reformism was the key point of their thoughts. If the physician figure is the heart of this research, the individual careers comparison gives us a more global idea on the particular place of food in the medical practice

Full textThe history of Kumārajīva, monk from the Kucha kingdom who was exiled to Chang'an in 401, where he ended his life as a master and translator, has crystallized the figure of a translator whose works paved the way to the development of some of the greatest Buddhist schools. However, in a general study concerning Buddhism in northern China at the beginning of the 5th century, Kumārajīva appears as a master whose role consisted to transmit a liturgy practiced in Kucha and to establish it in China. As a matter of fact, the renown of Kumārajīva and the changes he made in the history of Buddhism are not reduced to the introduction of new texts and the talent with which they were translated, but they result from other factors. Searching for leads in his biographies, some core points can be spotted : since his youth in Central Asia, he was supposed to be a master winner of heretical schools, an excellent preacher and to have been on close terms with sovereigns. A recall of the particularities of Buddhism in the countries of Central Asia, by compiling the information provided by pilgrims and historical annals, confirms not only the penetration of Buddhism in royal circles in all the Buddhist countries, from Kucha to Ceylon, but also reports information on the display and importance of ceremonies in which the kings and their relatives participated. From further indications found in the prefaces of the translations done by Kumārajīva in Chang’an, we learn that he preached and translated for audiences composed of monks and lay persons, sometimes members of royal families, on days of Buddhist fasting (posadha). Thus some of his greatest works, such as the Dapin jing, Da zhidu lun, Xiaopin jing , Weimojie suoshuo jing, Siyi jing and Miaofa lianhua jing were translated on the basis of the notes taken by the scribes during his public preaching on posadha days. From the obvious parallel between the way Kumārajīva practiced the posadha ceremonies and the descriptions of the pilgrims at the same time, it is possible to infer that Kumārajīva applied in China a way of practice current in other Buddhist countries at that time
