Abstract:
Reflective writing is increasingly being used in the teaching of professionalism. Because assessment enhances the learning process, effective evaluation of students’ reflective writing is needed. The aim of this study was to examine the inter-rater agreement between two different reflective writing assessment rubrics, which categorised reflective writings into four level of reflection, in an undergraduate medical professionalism course. The reflective writing assignments from 63 medical students enrolled in the 2017 medical professionalism course in the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia were randomly selected and independently assessed by two raters in September 2019. Intraclass correlation (ICC) analysis (two-way mixed effect, single measure) was carried out to determine the inter-rater agreement of the reflective writing assessment. The less detailed instrument showed a low ICC score of 0.43, which was classified into poor inter-rater agreement, whereas the more detailed rubric showed poor to moderate reliability, with ICC scores of 0.50, 0.50, and 0.36 for the score of each criterion, the total score of each assessed criterion, and the overall score of reflection, respectively. Utilising a more detailed (analytic) rubric to assess students’ reflective writing produced a relatively higher score of interrater reliability, although the reliability achieved using this rubric was still categorised as moderate.

Abstract:
The living and health conditions of workers were directly impacted by the restructuring of the world of work. The increase in demands and the accumulation of work has led teachers to suffer, as well as other workers. For this reason, the article discusses the psychodynamics of work and studies on the field of education that involve teaching mental suffering and its relationship with nursing, relating it to teachers' work and health conditions. The objective is to present an expanded analysis of the review findings in the context of national literature on the subject, anchored in the theory of psychodynamics at work and theoretical reflections inserted in the dialogue. It is a theoretical study of systematic review with a qualitative approach, about mental suffering in higher education teachers in nursing to obtain knowledge produced in the area. Suffering is approached in different ways in the literature and can have a positive or negative meaning, with work as a structuring element of negative or positive effects on the worker's mental functioning and mental life. It was identified, therefore, that the production of teaching work in nursing can make this professional activity sick and requires defensive strategies designed to search for adequate solutions, aiming at the mental health of these workers.

Abstract:
The presence of well-known universities outside Indonesia has attracted sig-nificant interests, not only from Indonesian residents but also from residents of other countries. Particularly, western universities are highly demanded and the competition is rather fierce when students attempt to register and take on the entrance tests. Only the top percentile of students seems to be accepted. Because of limitations in space and personnel, those western uni-versities decided to expand their market base into developing countries by getting closer to their potential customers. With the technological advance-ment and push toward the use of the internet and online learning, undoubt-edly, international universities, including Indonesian-based universities with mixtures of curricula across countries, have become a new trend in Indone-sia’s higher educational institutions. With the growing numbers of students applying to international programs at various universities in Indonesia, it is apparent that Indonesians are more assertive to receive internationalized standards. Thus, matching consumer behaviors, and expectations in the local market would be indispensable in trying to ensure the smooth running and operational activities of the international universities in Indonesia. This pa-per attempts to focus on lecturers/professors, as the pool of human re-sources/capital in the everlasting competition within the international uni-versities in Indonesia. The focus on lecturers includes issues on human skills, ability in teaching, and teaching delivery, perhaps including research skills and research ability. It is uncertain whether the lecturers’ capacity, ability, competence, skills, knowledge, and all attributes of the lecturers to handle international classes are sufficient and fit to the consumer expectations. Re-search is conducted by gathering data from primary and secondary sources in several locations of international universities in Jakarta, such as lecturers, students, and parents. It is expected that such research would eventually the importance of lecturers’ competencies in handling international classes with international standards.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Teaching and learning are like two composites sides of a coin. While the indispensability of teaching to knowledge and skill acquisition among professionals including nurses is never in doubt, certain teaching methods have been proven to yield more fruitful results than others. This study therefore explored the lived experience of nurse educators regarding teaching methods and the challenges encountered in nursing education institutions in South West Nigeria. METHODOLOGY: A qualitative inquiry research approach was used. Fifteen nursing educators were purposively selected from three nursing institutions in South West Nigeria with at least one year of teaching experience. Data was collected through semi-structured, in-depth individual interviews with the selected participants. All interview sessions were audio recorded with participants' permission and later transcribed verbatim. Thereafter, the collected data was analyzed using thematic content analysis. RESULTS: The study identified a number of factors that hindering teaching methods that support students learning by nurse educators. Results showed six themes viz: Inadequate preparedness of the students for higher education; Insufficient facilitation skills of the teachers; Misconceptions about teaching practices; Resource constraints; Resistance to change; and Lack of incentives. Further analysis revealed that the dynamic changes occurring in the health care professions, require a radical shift in the way nursing students are taught, to develop them into competent nurses of the future, who are capable of using their skills to solve the health care needs of the populace. CONCLUSIONS: The effective use of teaching methods is the cornerstone of the future of general nursing and nursing practice. Nurses need to be trained with an objective to become skilled and competent through effective teaching and learning by taking into account the diversity of higher education institutions and responding effectively to the needs of nursing educators and nursing students, as well as institutional demands.

This article focuses on how the study of Comparative Religion conducted in Indonesian Islamic higher institutions, i.e. on both UIN Yogyakarta and Jakartasince the beginning of the New Order (1960s) to Reform era (2014). The focus of the study was on models/approaches and main issues. In general, for more than half a century, the comparative study of religion is not been done for academic purposes an sich. Just within the new last decade that theoretical studies of Comparative Religion began developed. Another important thing that the study of Comparative Religion in Indonesia, although mostly referring to the methodological sources of the West and the Middle East, but ithas always been associated with religious and cultural context of Indonesia. Therefore, the study on both UIN Yogyakarta and Jakarta always deliver courseson religions that live in Indonesia alongside with Indonesian contemporary issues. In the reform era, though still using Comparative Religion’s term, butit looks religious studies such as used in the West. Thus, its “form” or “clothes”is Comparative Religion but it is religious studies.

Abstract:
Little is known about the effectiveness of Interdisciplinary teaching (IDT) in higher education, particularly for healthcare education in Taiwan. It is vital to determine if IDT could enhance divergent creative thinking and team creativity among nursing students. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design. Students enrolled in a capstone nursing course for the development of healthcare-related products were divided into two groups. The intervention group (n = 61) was taught creative thinking skills with IDT by faculty. The control group (n = 84) was taught by nursing faculty with traditional teaching. This study found that students who received the IDT intervention scored significantly higher on measures of creative thinking and team creativity compared with students in the control group. These findings suggest integrating IDT from nursing and design faculty into the teaching curriculum to foster students’ creative thinking abilities when formulating interdisciplinary student teams to develop innovative, creative healthcare products.

Abstract:
Based on the data, it is known that the average score of the overall evaluation aspects of the learning design reached 3.4. This figure according to the results of the conversion of quantitative data to qualitative data on scale 4 belongs to the very good category, which means that the learning design of gamified problem-based learning developed is feasible to be applied in learning. The purpose of writing this article is to develop an appropriate gamification model in tertiary institutions which links gamification theory and problem based learning into a new model that will later be combined with existing learning media to become more effective and interesting when applied in each course. Research on learning design models can be classified into three types: model development, model validation, and model use. This study examines the first two points above, which are based on research methodologies for model development and model validation where learning models are developed either practically or theoretically. In theory, the cause is based on the literature related to the model that is to be developed, being practical because it must be based on a learning design that is suitable for real life. The gamified problem-based learning design model has been based on literature and has projected real-life learning needs. In the results, it is known that the effectiveness and attractiveness of the design of gamified problem based learning as teaching material in the form of theory and practice have shown results in the excellent category which means that this learning design is feasible to be applied in learning.

Abstract:
Nursing is an important task in modern medical treatment, which can assist patients in the treatment and rehabilitation process. Nursing practitioners’ skills and mentality can affect patient recovery and the speed of treatment. Therefore, there are already a large number of colleges and universities to carry out nursing teaching work. However, the current nursing teaching work still adopts the traditional teaching mode, which is no longer in line with the nursing work of the present era. Nursing teaching not only imparts nursing expertise to students, but it also requires higher practical ability. This study considers the integration of short video technology and text teaching mode into the teaching work of nursing. This study also used the transformer method to extract and predict the characteristics of nursing knowledge, nursing actions, and student satisfaction in short nursing teaching videos and texts. This study also explores the temporal characteristics existing in short videos of nursing teaching. The results show that the T-CNN-L method has higher accuracy than the T-CNN method in predicting the relevant features of nursing teaching short videos. The T-CNN-L method can also accurately and efficiently extract and predict nursing knowledge features and nursing action features.

Social media WhatsApp group was employed as a platform to share the recorded YouTube video lectures for students’ learning activities outside-of-class. Before students attend class, they have prepared with the lesson’s content, hence in-class activities are utilized for homework, hands-on activities, and group discussions. In other words, watching, summarizing, and note-taking are the main activities proposed by a researcher outside of the classroom, whereas Socratic questioning through a group discussion is the main activities in the classroom. This study suggests that the bottom-up of flipped learning model is potentially implemented for teaching any social studies course at any higher education institution, with the aim of promoting students’ highest level of cognitive domains or higher-order thinking skills. This study has implications for Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Ristekdikti) or policymaker to determine the flip-class pedagogy as a contemporary teaching model for teaching any course in Indonesian higher education.

Abstract:
While extensive studies have explored issues of teaching critical reading in English as a foreign language (EFL) classes, there is a paucity of research that examines teacher educators’ conceptions of teaching critical reading in the EFL contexts. To fill the gap, this phenomenological study probes into EFL teacher educators’ experiences in teaching critical reading. It specifically looks at teacher educators’ conceptions of teaching critical reading and how their teaching practices contribute to the development of students’ critical reading skills. Data were generated through in-depth interviews with nine teacher educators in a private university in Malang, Indonesia. Findings suggest that the teacher educators’ conceptions of teaching critical reading, as geared by their lived experiences, involve basic conceptions of teaching critical reading, teaching critical reading from a philosophical lens, and critical thinking empowerment in reading classes. The study also documents that teaching critical reading encompasses higher order thinking skills enacted in the process of reading. Practically, the study’s findings call for the enactment of pedagogic trainings for teacher educators in order to construe their basic tenets of teaching critical reading, the philosophies behind such a teaching practice, and the empowered learning activities in the reading classes.

The rapid development of mobile phones and communication networks is profoundly changing the lives of people in China. With the gradual growth of Wi-Fi on college and university campuses, Chinese schools are setting off a wave of teaching reform combining online material with traditional classroom instruction. We adapted a Chinese University massive open online course physiology course into a private university online course, specifically designed for second-semester bachelor’s level nursing students at Taishan Medical University. This online course blended with classroom teaching was offered to 108 freshmen from two parallel reform classes. A third class of 55 students was offered the traditional classroom lecture-based course as a control. Impressive teaching effects were achieved in reform classes, as indicated by significant improvement in student performance on the final examination and positive student feedback. The student surveys showed that 68% of students preferred the blended course over traditional classroom courses. The most highly rated advantages of the blended course were flexible learning time (84%) and improvement of independent study skills (75%). As higher education enters the internet era, exploiting the high-quality cyber resources may be the fastest and most economical way to improve teaching efficiency and enhance students’ study experience.

COVID 19 pandemic has influenced many sectors, including education. The outbreak hinders teaching and learning activities, which have usually been carried out in a face-to-face meeting. In Higher Education, online learning becomes a crucial need to keep the teaching and learning going on. It has been a sudden shift for students of the English Education Study Program at Tidar University to have online teaching and learning throughout the whole semester. This study explores the students’ readiness for online learning and investigates the aspect that tangles their online learning. A total of 188 students, from first-year students to senior students, participated in this study. The Online Learning Readiness Scale (OLRS) and interview were used to appraise the students’ readiness for online learning. Internet self-efficacy, self-directed learning, learner control, motivation for learning, and online communication self-efficacy were assessed. The result of the scale revealed that the students were at a moderate level of online learning readiness. The highest contribution to their readiness was from their motivation for online learning. Moreover, surprisingly, the biggest challenge was the learner control. They were mainly distracted by other online activities during their online learning. Also, conducting online learning needs to involve various technologies and more structured activities to enhance their readiness.

Abstract:
Interactive video technology (IVT) remains one of the common modes of teaching utilised by various higher education institutions (HEIs) across the globe with an aim of catering to ever-increasing educational demands. The objectives of this study were to explore and describe the experiences of nursing students on the use of IVT as a mode of teaching General Nursing Science with a view to describing the aspects that affect their learning. The study was conducted at one of the satellite campuses of an HEI located in north-eastern Namibia. In this study, a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive design was used. A total of fifteen nursing students from the Faculty of Health Sciences in the School of Nursing, purposively selected from the population of fourth-year nursing students who were taught via IVT, participated in the study. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analysed by means of content analysis. Three main themes subsequently emerged: nursing students experienced the IVT as a beneficial mode of teaching; the use of IVT as a mode of teaching resulted in certain negative experiences for nursing students; and the presence of certain strategies that strengthen IVT as a teaching mode. The study identified both positive and negative student experiences resulting from the use IVT as a mode of teaching. It was therefore concluded that the School of Nursing should continue to use IVT as a mode of teaching, but should put certain interventions in place to strengthen it and to make the learning environment more favourable for students.

Abstract:
The present research examines how teachers implement Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) as part of multicultural education in a higher education institution. The urgency of the current research lies in the fact that teachers of the 21st century need to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to survive in this interconnected world. However, it was evidenced that one of the challenges in implementing multicultural education is the lack of teachers' skills to be culturally responsive. Accordingly, it is essential to highlight the implementation of Culturally Responsive Teaching in the Indonesian setting. In doing so, a qualitative case study is employed to answer the research questions. The current research involves six multicultural classroom teachers as research participants with different characteristics. To gain a depth understanding of the teachers' attitudes, the researchers employed semi-structured interviews and observation as data collection techniques. Using thematic data analysis, the results indicated nine practices that reflect the implementation of Culturally Responsive Teaching in the higher education context. The nine practices are: giving more freedom to students in selecting the familiar topic, emphasizing preserving local wisdom, celebrating different perspectives in the discussion, allowing gaining and checking students' understanding, talking personally outside the class, focusing more on positive rather than negative, being a role model, being patient, and sharing the experience.

Implementing higher-order thinking skills into teaching-learning practice has become a priority for any teaching program anywhere today. This study aims to evaluate two books of BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing) 7 Sahabatku Indonesia (2019) based on the Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy (RBT). The content analysis approach was used in this study to analyze research data in the form of instructions and questions classified using the RBT category. First, the analysis results showed that the instructions and questions in the two BIPA books were dominated by lower-order thinking skills (‘understanding' and 'remembering'). Second, although lower-order thinking skills dominated the instructions and questions in the two BIPA books, this study revealed that the majority of the instructions and questions classified as lower-order thinking skills in both textbooks analyzed can be changed into higher-order thinking skills. The findings of this study infer that the majority of instructions and questions in the BIPA 7 Sahabatku Indonesia need to be revised to encourage higher-order thinking skills-oriented teaching. These findings serve as a reminder for textbook writers of the importance of providing cognitive activities that can help learners develop both lower-order and higher-order thinking skills in textbooks.

Greater disparities and inadequacies of English proficiency (EP) may influence the educational process for EFL teachers of different cultural backgrounds. This study aims at describing the condition of 104 English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers’ EP in the Southern Region of Sumatra in relation to such variables as education level (EL), cultural backgrounds, teaching assignment level, and gender. Using English test scores of teachers’ teaching status (pre-service and in-service), EL, gender, multicultural education questionnaire, and teaching assignment, teachers’ EP is described. This study reveals that EL affects EP and also becomes the best predictor of their cultural knowledge and experience, such as personal development, leadership, curriculum instruction, general sensitivity, and cultural awareness. Furthermore, teachers teaching at higher levels of education appear to be better in EP than those teaching at lower levels, and in-service teachers are also better than pre-service teachers in their teaching responsibility. Although there is no difference in gender in their EP as a whole, females’ EP, listening skill, and personal development are significantly correlated. The implication of the findings indicates that to be proficient in English and culturally developed with integrity, teachers must have at least a master’s degree in addition to having an in-service status of teaching employment.

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic is causing unexpected challenges for all education systems. Several online platforms launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture maximize available e-learning solutions and further develop lecturers' digital skills and competencies. This study aims to analyze the comparative needs of Indonesia's current digital higher education environment and conduct an in-depth study of digital learning in Indonesia's higher education environment. This study also outlines the mitigation plans, innovative strategies adopted, and implications and recommendations for universities in Indonesia. The research method uses discourse analysis with literature and news sources to assess the impact, challenges, and opportunities of higher education during the pandemic in Indonesia. This study found that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on higher education in Indonesia; Both lecturers and students at universities face many challenges in the teaching and learning process. The effect is worse in Eastern Indonesia due to poor internet connectivity for online learning. In terms of mitigating online learning, the impact is still unknown. The limitations of this study are that the literature and news studies are not comprehensive because the current pandemic crisis has not ended. This study can provide an overview of the limitations of a more empirical study that will be carried out on how the current crisis affects the learning process of higher education in Indonesia.

Programme C did not include ethical content in theory courses. The design was of a developmental cross-sectional study. The dependent variable was the development of moral judgement, as measured by Rest’s Defining Issues Test. The independent variable was the amount of ethics taught in the nursing programmes and the level of academic education. The senior nursing students from programme A scored significantly higher than the other senior groups on the Defining Issues Test. The conclusion is that an ethics course with group participation and a decision-making element significantly facilitated nursing students’ development of moral judgement.

Abstract:
Clinical teaching is an integral component of nursing education. As such, nursing students' evaluations provide insight into their perceptions of this style of teaching. It's a type of evaluation that was devised to improve education through formative assessment. The students' point of view on the instruction they receive is a fundamental element since they are the main recipients, and they appear more and more as partners in the educational process. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore and describe students' perceptions of clinical instruction at the Higher Institute of Nursing and Health Technology in Casablanca. To address this, we have drawn from Knox and Mogan's (1985) model of effective clinical nursing teaching. The results obtained showed that the teaching ability dimension received the highest score (4.61±1.62), followed by nursing competence, personality, and interpersonal interaction. Nevertheless, students gave the component of evaluation the lowest score (4.20±1.76). With p > 0.05 for all dimensions, the Mann-Whitney test reveals that the differences between the two groups of students are not statistically significant. For more accurate findings, however, further research is needed, and teachers and tutors should highlight the differences between the three groups. Abstract:
Percentile curves representing intrauterine growth of Indonesian infants ranging from 34 to 43 weeks of gestation in 14 teaching centers were constructed from birth weight, birth length, and head, mid-upper arm, and chest circumferences. The gestational age was determined based on the last menstrual period. Mothers with probable chronic diseases or pregnancy complications were excluded. Included for analysis were 5844 singleton newborns. The mean birth weight of Indonesian babies was higher for gestational age of 34-38 weeks, but lower at 40-42 weeks of gestation compared with that of the Denver study. The results showed that the mean birth weight of Denver's newborns was significantly different than that of the Indonesian infants, therefore the Denver intrauterine growth curve cannot be used as reference curve for Indonesian newborns. Baby boys in general bad a higher mean birth weight, birth length, head circumference, and chest circumference. No difference was found for arm circumference. For every gestational age and percentiles, later born infants were heavier than first born infants. Birth weight at 42 weeks was lower for first born infants, this was not shown in later-born infants which showed higher weight for each percentiles. Parity affected birth weight more than birth length. Birth length became more stable at 39 weeks. Chest circumference of < 29 em had the highest sensitivit,y and positive predictive value for low birth weight, followed by arm circumference of < 9 cm. The use of intrauterine growth chart in studying the nutritional status of babies at birth was described.

Abstract:
Prelicensure nursing students often have difficulty performing medication calculations (MCs). Faculty at one baccalaureate nursing program wanted to use nursing theory to guide the development of a teaching–learning approach related to MC’s. Finding little theory related to the topic of MCs, a constructivist-based teaching–learning approach was used instead. The purpose of the study was to assess whether nursing students who received an MC review class that used a teaching–learning approach based on constructivist philosophy had better results on an MC examination than students who received their review via traditional teaching–learning methods. The study participants consisted of two cohorts of first-semester junior-level nursing students from one university-based school of nursing in the Midwestern United States. The results indicated that students in the simulation review class had higher mean scores on an MC examination than students who received their review via more traditional means. Teaching–learning strategies related to MCs based on constructivist philosophy have the potential to improve student learning outcomes, but more research is needed before middle-range theory related to this critically important area of nursing education can be developed.
