Abstract:
Globalization has resulted in a shift in human morals, marked by the many cases of moral deviations that are rife in various parts of Indonesia so that the application of spiritual attitudes has not been maximized. The attitude of dishonesty is shown by the number of students who cheat on the test, and the attitude of indiscipline is shown by the number of students who are late so that the application of social attitudes does not seem to be visible. The role of PAI teachers is considered quite important for the development of these two attitudes. At SMPN 1 Darussalam, PAI teachers have played a role in fostering spiritual and social attitudes. Big. This research was conducted with a field study using a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews and documentation. The results showed the role of PAI teachers in fostering spiritual attitudes by praying before and after lessons, praying in congregation, doing charity activities every Friday, and religious activities. The role of PAI teachers in fostering social attitudes is carried out through social service activities, visiting the Disabled Foundation and nursing homes, getting used to the 3S (smile, greeting, greeting), reporting to the teacher what items are found, punishing students who are late. Factors supporting the role of Islamic Education teachers in fostering spiritual and social attitudes are seen from adequate school facilities in the form of female/male prayer rooms, learning media such as LCD, the use of active methods. While the inhibiting factors include the lack of adequate facilities, especially LCDs, the lack of interest in teachers and knowledge, and the lack of interest in students to improve themselves.

Abstract:
Caring behaviors of faculty is one of the most important and influential factors for effective learning. If left only as an assumption of caring, this behavior will not become alive in nursing professional practice. This present study aimed to explore nursing students’ experiences of nursing faculty’s caring behaviors in learning. Descriptive phenomenology was used to collect data from ten senior bachelor nursing students at the private university in Bandung, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and ethical considerations were followed. The result was transcribed and analyzed by using a qualitative content analysis approach. Trustworthiness was established by Lincoln and Guba’s criteria. Nell Noddings’ three great means of nurturing the ethical ideal were reflected in these subjects. The interview data analysis revealed three key themes reflected by all participants: tangible virtue, challenging interaction, and modeling. The six sub-themes emerged reflected as: moral attitude, moral action, supportive interaction, disruptive interaction, personal model and professional model. Results suggested that faculty caring behavior is a useful strategy for nursing students caring behavior development during the program before they enter their real professional role. The exact levels of faculty caring behavior needs to be measured to depict the faculty caring behavior in nursing education.

Abstract:
Background: Medical awareness and clinical management of seasonal influenza remains limited in Indonesia. As future health workers, nursing students’ and medical students’ knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding influenza and influenza vaccine are important to make patients have better understanding about influenza. We explored their ideas about community intervention and education models regarding influenza and influenza vaccine. The aims of this study were to obtain nursing students’ ideas about community intervention models and medical students’ idea about education models regarding influenza and influenza vaccine.Method: A qualitative study using in-depth interview was conducted towards 10 nursing students and 10 medical students to explore their opinions and ideas about community intervention and education models regarding influenza and influenza vaccine.Results: Nursing students’ ideas for community intervention models were varied. Most of them mentioned poster, leaflet, workshop, counselling, and free influenza vaccination. There were also some interesting ideas, such as influenza handbook, influenza educational song, influenza car campaign, and popular science article about influenza. As for medical students, the education model they proposed was mostly seminar, workshop, pre-clinic training, and visual media such as poster and video.Conclusion: The study highlights the needs to educate future health workers about influenza and influenza vaccine to improve knowledge, practice and attitudes. Innovative and up-to-dateintervention models regarding influenza and influenza vaccine are needed to improve the health workers’ quality.

Background: Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) is an integrated guideline in dealing with infants and sick children at the community health center. However, many students cannot apply this guideline because they are not being exposed.Objective: This study aims to explore the perspectives of nurse educators and clinical instructors regarding the effectiveness of teaching learning process of IMCI in diploma nursing students.Methods: This was a qualitative study with interpretive approach. There were 9 informants selected using purposive sampling, which consisted of nurse educators and clinical instructors. Data collection was conducted in December 2016 - February 2017 using focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi process.Result: There were four themes emerged from data, namely 1) Competency of IMCI for Diploma Nursing Students, 2) Deepening of IMCI Material, 3) Learning methods of IMCI in the class and clinic should be active and structured, 4) Student confidence in the application of IMCI in clinical setting.Conclusion: The learning process of IMCI will have an impact on the improvement of knowledge, skills and attitude in the application of IMCI in the clinical setting.

Abstract:
Background: The importance of the interprofessional education (IPE) program has been depicted through various forms of the IPE curriculum. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced a change in the implementation of IPE; this has caused the method of implementing IPE to change online. This study aims to assess the readiness of three different healthcare professions for implementing IPE using the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS).Methods: The RIPLS survey was completed by 108 medical students, 40 pharmacy students, and 30 nursing students at Universitas Syiah Kuala, Indonesia. The survey was done after the students carried out the online IPE intervention, which was held during the COVID-19 pandemic. They also completed open-ended questions reflecting their attitude towards and experience from the online IPE implementation.Results: There was no significant difference regarding student readiness for interprofessional learning among the three academic disciplines. Generally, as many as 57.9% of students showed a positive perception of IPE. Separate analysis for each study program showed that all of them were in the high range of scores for positive perception. Pharmacy students have the highest positive perception of IPE (60%), while medical and nursing students’ scores were 54.6% and 53.3%, respectively. Qualitative interviews revealed that: 1) the scheduling of IPE implementation was not suitable for the students, 2) the online communication between professions was not as effective as expected challenging, and 3) there was a growing awareness to respect other professions.Conclusion: It can be concluded that conducting the IPE program during the COVID-19 pandemic experienced many obstacles, especially communication. However, it still maintains the main objective of IPE, which is to respect other professions.

Abstract:
There were several incidents of work accidents in the form of needle sticks recorded in several studies in Indonesia from 2014-2021, totaling 57 cases. Potential hazards in educational laboratories are considered lower than in health laboratories and industrial laboratories because they use relatively fewer materials. However, it will still result in financial losses, injuries and damage to equipment and infrastructure. Based on the results of interviews with the head of the nursing laboratory sub-unit, it was found that some students did not wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) during the practicum. In 2019 there were 2 incidents of students getting needle sticks during practice. There were 3 students who did not wear full PPE when the practicum took place in 2022. Compliance with the use of PPE at the Tanjungpinang Health Polytechnic Nursing Laboratory during the practicum greatly affects the personal safety of the students themselves. This study aimed to determine the practice of using PPE on student work safety in the nursing laboratory. The researcher involved all students of the second semester of Nursing Study Program for the 2021-2022 academic year and were willing to be involved in research. The number of respondents as many as 78 people. Data were obtained through a questionnaire in the form of a test sheet containing 30 questions. The results of data analysis showed that 55% of respondents had high knowledge of the use of PPE and as many as 46% had a positive attitude in using PPE and 54% had a negative attitude. Students are required to read laboratory rules and provide sanctions to students who do not comply with the use of PPE in the laboratory.

Introduction: Mobile technology such as smartphones and laptops have been a potential learning tool in both academic and clinical facets of nursing education. However, potentials and challenges of m-technology vary depending on individual, social, technological, and pedagogical conditions. And, studies of this issue in developing countries are lacking. Objective: This study aims to explore the potentials and challenges of m-technology integration in Indonesian nursing education. Method: 25 nursing faculties from three different nursing schools in Yogyakarta participated through an online questionnaire. 8 of them were purposely taken for semi -structured interviews. The data were presented cross-sectionally through descriptive statistics and ascertained with participants voices. Results: The findings delineated how mobile technology leveraged in both academic and clinical of nursing instructions. Three main potentials identified were to promote ubiquitous learning, build autonomous learning, and enhance technological knowledge. Technology affordances, psychological aspects, and nursing students attitude emerged as challenges in the current nursing education context. Social, individual, technological, and pedagogical aspects were discussed. Conclusion: Mobile technology is potential to mediate and provide better learning for nursing students in academic and clinical settings. However, faculties’ pedagogical knowledge and learning regulation of online learning are required to be analysed further.

Abstract Objectives Sex education toward adolescent remains the most controversial subject due to the various thoughts and ideas of different values present in society. Nurse educators as parents must exemplify sex education to their children. The aim of this present study was to explore parents’ experience, with nurse educators background to be exact, on how they convey sex education to their children. Methods This study is a descriptive qualitative study, and the sample is recruited by using the purposive sampling technique. The qualified participants filled in the informed consent, provided demographic data, and were interviewed. Saturation data were obtained at the 6th interview in this study. The interview is transcribed to find themes and subthemes using conventional content analysis. Results We derived 3 main themes: parents’ approach, sex education topic, and children's reaction. Parents’ approach contained 4 subthemes, namely, gender match, parent–child closeness, media, and attitude. Sex education topic included 5 subthemes of bodily autonomy, health and safety, reproductive anatomy, puberty-related changes, and how to maintain healthiness. Children's reaction experiences also included 4 subthemes of uncomfortable, questioning, acknowledging, and laughing. Conclusions As a matter of fact, some parents in eastern countries, such as Indonesia, conveyed sex education to their children. Children might have various reactions to that topic, but it is important to keep them safe, especially in reproductive health, regardless of the culture or tradition. Based on nurse educators as exemplifiers, nurses and nursing students might acquire the picture in conveying sex education to adolescents.

Purpose: The study was directed towards examination of nursing students’ attitudes towards environmental problems. Materials and methods: This descriptive study was performed from June to August 2014 with 296 first-fourth year nursing students from one nursing faculty located in Izmir. The data of the study were collected through conducting face-to-face interviews by using Socio-Demographic Characteristics Form and Environmental Problems Attitude Scale. Descriptive statistics, chi-square test, Cronbach alpha, t-test and Mann Whitney U test were used in the data analysis. Results: Mean age of the students was 21.16±2.28 years. The fourth year students had higher scores for their attitudes to environmental problems. Female students, students taking a course about the environment before university, students becoming a member of environmental organizations had significantly higher scores for their attitudes to environmental issues. Conclusions: This study suggests that attitudes of students towards environmental problems can improve only after they are offered an effective education. Therefore, Syllabi should be designed to include environmental problems to increase knowledge and awareness of students and to acquire a positive attitude.

Abstract:
The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the RN to BSN student's perceptions about what they need from curricula and the faculty to meet their educational goals. In addition, the study looked at the relationship between student identified needs and those identified by the faculty in regard to the RN to BSN curriculum.Evidence was collected using three focus group interviews with RN to BSN students and three focus group interviews with faculty who teach in RN to BSN programs. The number of participants in faculty focus group totaled 13 while participants in student focus groups totaled 16 participants. Individual follow-up interviews were conducted with participants from five of the six focus groups.A total of 50 concepts and a total of 20 subcategories were identified as significant as a result of the student data analysis. Seven themes emerged from the data analysis: 1) reasons for seeking BSN degrees (personal reasons, job advancement or maintenance, bridge to graduate school); 2) curricular content (nursing research, nursing leadership/management, health assessment, politics, computer technology, and general education); 3) curricular outcomes (professionalism, professional self-esteem, critical thinking); 4) institutional factors (advising and admissions processes, separation from traditional BSN students); 5) teaching methodologies (discussion, sharing, student presentations); 6) adult learning principles (self-direction, choices, peer learning, respect for experience); and 7) accommodations (acknowledgement for multiple roles, convenience, flexibility, credit for previous work, choices, physical environment).

Abstract:
Information and communication technology (ICT) is integrated into almost every daily activity. Yet, few females today are choosing ICT based careers; a large percentage prefer to work in “pink collar” jobs such as childcare, education, and nursing. A recent report (Queensland Government, 2004) states that the average weekly earnings of full-time female workers in ICT, personal services, education, and health careers are $883.30, $513.10, $802, and $854.20 respectively. Furthermore, even though females consistently earn less than males, female ICT workers record the highest average earnings for all female occupations. Not only are females rejecting the financial rewards associated with ICT careers in favor of jobs that are seen to have a high human concern, they are also denying their voice in the creation and development of future technologies and applications. However, why are they shunning ICT study and careers? How does their educational environment and their perceptions of ICT impact ICT study and career choices? This article explores these questions through the 2003 case study of Year 9 and 12 students, teachers and guidance officers at two co-educational schools in Queensland, Australia. Data was collected from 490 participants through questionnaires and six students and four teachers took part in interviews. Two theoretical frameworks, organizational culture and information quality, were used as a lens to view the situation.
