Abstract:
The use of grafting techniques for horticultural crops increases plant tolerance to various abiotic and biotic stresses. Tomato production under greenhouse conditions relies on plants grafted onto vigorous rootstocks because they sustain crops for longer periods. Growers under Mediterranean conditions usually grow crops in passive greenhouses during the summer and winter season, to provide fresh products throughout the year. No information is available with regard to the effect of the environment on nitrogen-use efficiency (NUE) in tomato plants grafted onto rootstocks with different vigor. In the present study, NUE, along with its components—uptake (NUpE) and utilization (NUtE) efficiencies—were evaluated in tomato plants grafted onto two interspecific rootstocks, conferring medium (“King Kong”) or high (“Kaiser”) vigor to the plants. The evaluations were carried out during the vegetative and reproductive stage in plants subjected to different environmental conditions resulting in different plant growth rates. The grafting treatments did not affect NUE, NUpE or NUtE in young plants, but at the reproductive stage, differences were found during the summer season (high N demand) where the vigorous rootstock increased NUpE from 55%, in non-grafted plants, to 94%, with the consequent differences in NUE. During the winter crop, no differences in NUE were found between the vigorous rootstock and non-grafted plants, but the less vigorous (cold-tolerant) rootstock enhanced NUpE. Significant positive relationships were found between plant growth rate and both NUE and NUpE, while NUtE decreased with increasing growth rate.

Abstract:
Nitrogen efficiency, along with associated indexes, is a widely used tool for assessing nutritional status in agricultural species. However, this parameter is not used in studies with ornamental plants, especially epiphytic cacti species. In particular, we know very little about the potential response of ornamental cacti to N absorption and use. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate N use efficiency (NUE), along with its associated parameters, in three species of ornamental cacti under nitrogen nutrition. To accomplish this, Rhipsalis baccifera, Rhipsalis paradoxa and Hatiora salicornioides were fertilized by Hogland and Arnon nutrition solution modified and enriched with urea in the concentrations of 0, 33.3 or 66.6 mM N during 180 days. At the end of the experiment, efficiency indexes were calculated. Efficiency parameters varied according to species. R. baccifera presented the greatest dissimilarity among the species, with highest uptake efficiency (NUpE), but lowest use efficiency (NUtE) and biomass conversion (BCE). R. paradoxa presented high values for NUE, NUtE, BCE and physiological efficiency (NPE) at concentrations of 33.3 mM N, suggesting greater investment in biological processes with lower supply of N. H. salicornioides had the highest averages in most parameters measured. Our results show that these indexes provided important comparative baseline information on nutritional status and investment strategy, thus serving as a suitable analytical tool to increase knowledge about this group of ornamental plants.

Abstract:
IntroductionSince 2005, new treatment and diagnostic methods (NUBs) were reimbursed by individual supplementary fees. The assessment procedure for NUBs is induced by hospitals submitting a request for additional compensation of healthcare treatment to the Institute for the Fee System in the Hospital (InEK). In 2016, the legal norm §137h SGB V was introduced to evaluate medical devices (MD) of high risk classes by the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA). InEK grants a status that is valid for twelve months and impacts additional compensation as well as assessment required by G-BA. The effects of this rating seem to differ between hospitals and Statutory Health Insurance (SHI).MethodsThe published InEK decisions on NUBs were analyzed according the decision criteria and possible impact on price negotiations with SHI.ResultsIn 2018, 705 NUB requests were assessed by InEK. NUB Status 1, granting negotiation of additional coverage, was assigned to 171 procedures. Status 2 – no additional reimbursement possible - was given in 472 cases, the remaining had not sufficient information. Most NUBs (n = 368) requests did not fall under §137h; however, those with sub-Status “B” (allocated to 12) led to controversies; no participant had requested an evaluation according to §137h for the NUB. Two consultation requests receiving Status 1 B were regarded as not eligible according to § 137h by the G-BA. To avoid price negotiation delays, early consultations according to § 137h are recommended by G-BA during the NUB application.ConclusionsThe NUB process enables hospitals to receive a supplemental payment when using innovative technologies not listed in the existing German healthcare system. The question of which requirements must be fulfilled to guarantee the reimbursement should be asked at an early stage. Consultation requests to the G-BA in due time are strongly recommended. Contact between manufacturers and hospitals are advisable to support the NUB application.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Background Digital food registration via online platforms that are coupled to large food databases obviates the need for manual processing of dietary data. The reliability of such platforms depends on the quality of the associated food database. Objective In this study, we validate the database of MyFitnessPal versus the Belgian food composition database, Nubel. Methods After carefully given instructions, 50 participants used MyFitnessPal to each complete a 4-day dietary record 2 times (T1 and T2), with 1 month in between T1 and T2. Nutrient intake values were calculated either manually, using the food composition database Nubel, or automatically, using the database coupled to MyFitnessPal. First, nutrient values from T1 were used as a training set to develop an algorithm that defined upper limit values for energy intake, carbohydrates, fat, protein, fiber, sugar, cholesterol, and sodium. These limits were applied to the MyFitnessPal dataset extracted at T2 to remove extremely high and likely erroneous values. Original and cleaned T2 values were correlated with the Nubel calculated values. Bias was estimated using Bland-Altman plots. Finally, we simulated the impact of using MyFitnessPal for nutrient analysis instead of Nubel on the power of a study design that correlates nutrient intake to a chosen outcome variable. Results Per food portion, the following upper limits were defined: 1500 kilocalories for total energy intake, 95 grams (g) for carbohydrates, 92 g for fat, 52 g for protein, 22 g for fiber, 70 g for sugar, 600 mg for cholesterol, and 3600 mg for sodium. Cleaning the dataset extracted at T2 resulted in a 2.8% rejection. Cleaned MyFitnessPal values demonstrated strong correlations with Nubel for energy intake (r=0.96), carbohydrates (r=0.90), fat (r=0.90), protein (r=0.90), fiber (r=0.80), and sugar (r=0.79), but weak correlations for cholesterol (ρ=0.51) and sodium (ρ=0.53); all P values were ≤.001. No bias was found between both methods, except for a fixed bias for fiber and a proportional bias for cholesterol. A 5-10% power loss should be taken into account when correlating energy intake and macronutrients obtained with MyFitnessPal to an outcome variable, compared to Nubel. Conclusions Dietary analysis with MyFitnessPal is accurate and efficient for total energy intake, macronutrients, sugar, and fiber, but not for cholesterol and sodium.

Abstract:
2013 - 2014
The expression "cloud computing", in Italian “nuvola informatica”, indicates a complex range of technologies that allow, typically in the form service offered by a provider to the customer, to store, archive and / or process data, in most cases of a personal nature, thanks to the use of hardware and software resources distributed and virtualized on line. Cloud computing services are used in different ways and by different users: consumers, in general, use them for e-mail, for storing and sharing content and information of various kinds, for payment services but also for access to music and video streaming. Companies, however, employ cloud especially for office basic tools, collaboration and project management, especially romote, but also for the creation of custom applications. If we take account of the breadth of data that are placed on the network so we can understand how important the issue of their security and privacy protection for the users of these services is. First af all, fundamental appears ensure to the consumers a constant right to the active monitoring of the information entered in the network as well as a right to their subsequent modification or cancellation, if deemed appropriate. These rights are not always guaranteed, or, at least, not always meet, in the EU and extra EU laws, the same level of protection. [edited by Author]

Abstract:

Abstract:
The purpose of the project is to propose an information security risk assessment model based on ISO / IEC 27005 to determine the feasibility of obtaining a service in the cloud, since in every organization it is necessary to know the security risks of information that they currently assume with the security controls implemented and those that could be assumed with the acquisition of a new service in the cloud so that they can make the decision to opt for one or the other. The model was made based on 3 phases. First, a relevant investigation of good practices in information security was carried out. In the research, ISO / IEC 27001 was used, which gives us an overview of an information security management system. Likewise, the ISO / IEC 27005 is chosen oriented to the management of information security risks in an organization. Second, the model proposal is presented and its phases are described as contextualization of the organization, risk identification, risk assessment and risk treatment. Finally, the model was deployed in the process of partial and final examinations of the area of academic records of the “Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas”.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The increasing use of virtual archeology and digital visualization projects of cultural heritage in the industry pushes the experts to an epistemological reflection on transparency of the scientific results obtained. This reflection has led, in 2009, to the "London Charter for the Computer-based Visualisation of Cultural Heritage", which established clear principles and criteria to be followed to ensure the scientific nature of the products of virtual archeology . To comply with these directions, at the beginning of the project " Virtual Museum of the Tiber Valley", which aimed, among other things, at the virtual reconstruction of the Villa Volusii Saturnini, it was decided to build a Semantic Information System that allows users to Virtual Museum to access to the para-data related to the individual parts of the model and the villa. This ensures the effective transparency of the interpretive choices made by the researchers for the virtual reconstruction of the site and to examine critically the available data . This reflection of a general nature gave rise to the research conducted for the PhD : the scientific design of the virtual reconstruction of the villa was supported by a rigorous and thorough archaeological research, aimed at collecting all the documentation available about the archaeological site. As a result, the Semantic Information System was conceived as a three-dimensional interactive on-line environment, where users can access all para-data related to the archaeological site. The PhD thesis is the first case of application of the Nubes platform, developed by the Laboratory MAP-GAMSAU of the CNRS for an archaeological site entirely reconstructed digitally. The case of the Villa Volusii is particularly significant for the development of a Semantic Information System because it is an archaeological site of great value, whose excavation took place under emergency conditions, the knowledge of which is affected by numerous documentary gaps. In the course of the project, it was necessary to fully re-examine all the documentation and the existing data for the understanding of the site, reorder and integrate it with new data collected during survey operations and new excavation data provided by the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Southern Etruria. The creation of the semantic system allows to disseminate effectively and interactively to the users and the scientific community the information that is hidden behind the virtual reconstruction, but also to create the conditions for a general review of knowledge of the archaeological site and is therefore a stimulus for a resumption of studies on the subject.

This chapter focuses on the changes in sex education among young adults in Uganda and Kenya. Sex education was previously done through paternal aunties and grandparents. However, in the recent past, the proliferation of social media especially Facebook has seen sex education shift to this social media. Using mostly qualitative methods and limited quantitative information, the chapter explores the ease with which sex information; some laced with sexually explicit photographs, has become so easy to access. Some of the shared information is empowering say about fashion, information about safe sex, relationship advice, connecting with people of the opposite sex as well developing identity formation and the freedom about one's body through the likes and positive comments made on Photos posted on Facebook walls. However, some of this information has led to cases of risk behavior like freelance sex, exposure to nudity, sharing of nude photos with boyfriends and girlfriends as well as pathological revenge porn by jilted lovers.

Abstract:
This chapter presents a narrative and genre analyses of Wishman’s Nude on the Moon to forward how the film flouts traditional conventions of the science fiction and nudist genres in a way that critiques hegemonic gender norms. In doing so it provides a contextual analysis of the film attuned to the history of second wave feminism and gender constructions in the 1960s. Resultingly, the essay provides a starting point for re-evaluating the film, which is one of Wishman’s rarely studied works. The chapter provides ample textual evidence and analysis for the film’s relationship to science fiction and nudist films while narrating critical industrial information on the film’s production.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The ability to know and enjoy the city's Architectural Heritage has been the main subject of studies by public authorities and the scientific community, specializing in research projects concerning accessibility planning in the last years. This is partly due to the growing trend to promote cultural tourism by promoting the assets themselves and, secondly, the interest to identify and fix issues related to physical accessibility for taking steps to eliminate barriers from the physical environment, especially for those groups of people with disabilities. There are certain parameters to be considered in a study of accessibility, such as gradients or slopes, design and location of furniture and the dimensions of access, among others. The overall objective of this project is to analyze the possibility of using data from Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) to determine and calculate some parameters that allow an assessment of the degree of accessibility of particular physical surroundings with architectural and historical value. The TLS is a surveying instrument for obtaining large number of measures in the form of millions of spatial coordinates in the reference frame of the instrument itself, and in a relatively short time. With repeated measures from different positions successively and subsequent union into a single reference system through the recognition of homologous points, one can obtain a 3D model of a complex environment. The global point cloud obtained complements and integrates with high-resolution digital images and is optimized for better data management. Once optimized the point cloud, can generate digital terrain models, from which and through analysis in Geographic Information System (GIS) can yield a slope map. This information is very important because allows the application of accessibility criteria and evaluation measures to ensure the accessibility of the virtual model of the physical environment analyzed to determine an insufficient width or the presence of steps or other obstacles. The implementation of the proposed methodology to specific cases is to validate its effectiveness. Demonstrate how from the information provided by the laser scanner, can be exploited in a GIS environment, to assess some of the main parameters of physical accessibility for Architectural Heritage.

Abstract:
This paper is the result of the work developed under the PATRAC Project (Accessible Heritage: R&D+innovation for a culture without obstacles) for the development a software tool capable of solving optimal routes in urban areas, considering parameters for the evaluation of its physical accessibility such as slope, narrow passages, low height clearance and insufficient lighting. The development of this tool is a methodological innovation on the creation and rectification of data sources since it generates information from a Laser Terrestrial Scanner (LTS) point cloud output, corrected using advanced Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technologies. This cartographical information, corresponding to the city of Tossa de Mar old town, is the reference used by the GIS optimal route solver which allows the user to find the best route between two points of interest in the old town. The development of the solver has required an initial analysis of the accessibility status of the study area followed by programming tasks to integrate the acceptable values of slope, width, height and lighting, among others, into the optimal route solver parameters so they are evaluated when performing its optimization tasks. The end result is a web application that allows the user to find the optimal route between any two points of interest considering his or her disability. In addition to the graphical information of the optimal route plan, the application shows the user the length of the route and displays a 3D video following the route path, created from the 3D model generated from the Laser Terrestrial Scanner.

Abstract:

Abstract:
To reduce financial risk and N losses to the environment, fertilization methods are needed that improve NUE and increase the quality of wheat. In the literature, ample attention is given to grid-based and zone-based soil testing to determine the soil N available early in the growing season. Plus, information is available on in-season N topdressing applications as a means of improving GPC. However, the vast majority of research has focused on wheat that is grown under N limiting conditions in sub-humid regions and irrigated fields. Less attention has been given to wheat in dryland that is water limited. The objectives of this study were to: (1) determine accuracy in determining GPC of HRSW in Israel and SWWW in Oregon using on-combine optical sensors under field conditions; (2) develop a quantitative relationship between image spectral reflectance and effective crop physiological parameters; (3) develop an operational precision N management procedure that combines variable-rate N recommendations at planting as derived from maps of grain yield, GPC, and test weight; and at mid-season as derived from quantitative relationships, remote sensing, and the DSS; and (4) address the economic and technology-transfer aspects of producers’ needs. Results from the research suggest that optical sensing and the DSS can be used for estimating the N status of dryland wheat and deciding whether additional N is needed to improve GPC. Significant findings include: 1. In-line NIR reflectance spectroscopy can be used to rapidly and accurately (SEP <5.0 mg g⁻¹) measure GPC of a grain stream conveyed by an auger. 2. On-combine NIR spectroscopy can be used to accurately estimate (R² < 0.88) grain test weight across fields. 3. Precision N management based on N removal increases GPC, grain yield, and profitability in rainfed wheat. 4. Hyperspectral SI and partial least squares (PLS) models have excellent potential for estimation of biomass, and water and N contents of wheat. 5. A novel heading index can be used to monitor spike emergence of wheat with classification accuracy between 53 and 83%. 6. Index MCARI/MTVI2 promises to improve remote sensing of wheat N status where water- not soil N fertility, is the main driver of plant growth. Important features include: (a) computable from commercial aerospace imagery that include the red edge waveband, (b) sensitive to Chl and resistant to variation in crop biomass, and (c) accommodates variation in soil reflectance. Findings #1 and #2 above enable growers to further implement an efficient, low cost PNM approach using commercially available on-combine optical sensors. Finding #3 suggests that profit opportunities may exist from PNM based on information from on-combine sensing and aerospace remote sensing. Finding #4, with its emphasis on data retrieval and accuracy, enhances the potential usefulness of a DSS as a tool for field crop management. Finding #5 enables land managers to use a DSS to ascertain at mid-season whether a wheat crop should be harvested for grain or forage. Finding #6a expands potential commercial opportunities of MS imagery and thus has special importance to a majority of aerospace imaging firms specializing in the acquisition and utilization of these data. Finding #6b on index MCARI/MVTI2 has great potential to expand use of ground-based sensing and in-season N management to millions of hectares of land in semiarid environments where water- not N, is the main determinant of grain yield. Finding #6c demonstrates that MCARI/MTVI2 may alleviate the requirement of multiple N-rich reference strips to account for soil differences within farm fields. This simplicity will be less demanding of grower resources, promising substantially greater acceptance of sensing technologies for in-season N management.
