Abstract:
In the study of argumentation there is a sharp and ideological separation between dialectical and rhetorical approaches, which needs to be remedied. The authors show how the pragma-dialectical theory of argumentation can be instrumental in bridging the gap. By adopting a research programme that involves engaging in ‘normative pragmatics’, not only the critical normative and the empirical descriptive dimensions of the study of argumentation can be brought together, but also the dialectical and the rhetorical perspectives. In the research programme, which includes philosophical, theoretical, analytical, empirical and practical components, dialectical and rhetorical perspectives are articulated in each component. The authors make clear that the two perspectives can be reconciled with the help of the notion of ‘strategic manoeuvring’. Strategic manoeuvring, which is inherent in argumentative discourse, is aimed at reconciling the simultaneous pursuit of dialectical and rhetorical aims.

AbstractThis review of publications based on data from the Veterans Affairs Normative Aging Study identified four articles that were considered assessments of health care technologies. Three evaluated methods for research on body composition, the fourth studied ventricular size in patients with presenile dementia. Several additional articles are discussed that provided data on baseline values or risk factors for disease that might be useful in generating hypotheses to be tested in later assessments of technologies.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the use of a sociopragmatic methodology to research morphological phenomena. In particular, the study starts from the verification of new non-normative gender morphemes uses to make visible a part of the society that, according to the criticism of feminist linguistics to its normative usages, excludes them in its representation. So, the starting point of this study is to consider an associated perception of two phenomena: grammatical gender and (sociocultural) gender. This premise is treated as a sociocultural conditioning that enables the implementation of sociopragmatic research tools. The designed tool has enabled to determinate, on a scale of degrees, the preference, tolerance and refusal to these new gender morpheme uses in a given population segment, supporting the validity of sociopragmatic tools to study morphological phenomena.

Abstract:
We investigated how expectancies about gender dominance for knowledge influence the frequency of self-touching enacted by conversing members of mixed-sex dyads. The study was a 2 (male vs. female dyad member) × 2 (normatively male vs. female knowledge dominance) design. Two alternative hypotheses about the effects of normative expectancies for gender-knowledge dominance on self-touching were evaluated. Normative expectation of knowledge deficiency could provoke greater performance concerns and self-touching than a normative expectation of knowledge dominance, or a normative expectation of knowledge dominance could provoke greater performance concerns and self-touching than a normative expectation of knowledge deficiency. Results supported the latter alternative.

Abstract:
The P300 component of the Event-Related Potential (ERP) is a general measurement of "cognitive efficiency". It is an index of the ability of an individual's Central Nervous System (CNS) to process incoming information. OBJECTIVE: To develop a normative database for the visual P300. METHODOLOGY: 30 right-handed individuals (same number of each sex), between 20 and 30 years of age, healthy, free of any cognitive impairment and not making use of psychoactive substances. Participants were submitted to a visual discrimination task, which employed the "oddball" paradigm. RESULTS: The expected scalp distribution trend was seen for latency but not for amplitude values. CONCLUSION: A high variability of latency and amplitude values was observed across the age span. Mean reaction time for the entire sample of the study was 391.56 ± 37.03 ms.

Abstract:
Normative verb tenses in the English research article (RA) abstract constitute the present in the rhetorical moves of Introduction, Purpose, and Conclusion and the past in Method and Product. However, non-normative tenses may at times appear. This paper looked at non-normative tenses in English RA abstracts. Based on a preliminary analysis of 20 RA applied linguistics abstracts, the study develops how non-normative tenses work in the genre of RA abstracts. Findings discuss writers’ intentions lying in each non-normative tense in each rhetorical move: the present perfect in the Introduction Move, the past in Purpose, the present in Method, the present in Product, and auxiliaries in Conclusion.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to synthesize the concepts from empirical studies and analyze, compare and interrelate them with normative ethics. The International Council of Nurses (ICN) and the Health and Medical Service Act are normative ethics. Five concepts were used in the analysis; three from the grounded theory studies and two from the theoretical framework on normative ethics. A simultaneous concept analysis resulted in five outcomes: interconnectedness, interdependence, corroboratedness, completeness and good care are all related to the empirical perspective of the nurse’s interaction with the older patient, and the normative perspective, i.e. that found in ICN code and SFS law. Empirical ethics and normative ethics are intertwined according to the findings of this study. Normative ethics influence the nurse’s practical performance and could be supporting documents for nurses as professionals.

Abstract:
The Independent Campus Learning Program (MBKM) is a government program in an effort to provide opportunities for students from both public and private universities to study outside their study program. The opportunity is also wide open for students. This research is an analytical study of the implementation of MBKM competition activities in the Petroleum Engineering Study Program, FTKE Trisakti University. This study is supported by data obtained from the descriptive survey method (Normative Survey Method) of the entire academic community which includes the heads of the Faculties and Study Programs, lecturers, education staff and students as respondents. This study is intended to evaluate the impact of MBKM-based learning on lecturers and students, the availability and implementation of MBKM-based curriculum in Petroleum Engineering Study Program, Trisakti University and the level of satisfaction of lecturers, students and stakeholders on the availability of facilities and infrastructure to support the implementation of MBKM. The survey results show that MBKM activities have had a positive impact. Some of the challenges faced, among others, were the difficulty in getting partners to provide internship programs, technical constraints due to the pandemic, and program socialization that had not yet touched the entire academic community. More intensive efforts from Faculties and Study Programs to build cooperation with partners and update socialization methods are expected to improve the implementation of MBKM.

Abstract:
The study explores 29 individuals who described themselves as functioning normatively while using drugs on a regular basis. They defined their use as intensive, constant, and playing a significant part in their normative lives. The content analysis revealed a typology consisting of four different types of normative users: the socially connected users, the better coping users, the ambivalent users, and the recovering users. This typology was created on the basis of three axes: level of functioning, justification of use, style of use. Our typology highlights the differences between normative users with varying patterns of drug usage and levels of functioning, ranging from users who claim that drug use causes them no harm to those who acknowledge that drug use has significantly damaged their functioning. This typology places particular emphasis on normative users who are experiencing a range of difficulties and need specific forms of therapy to preserve their normative lives.

Full text
Abstract:
The article analyzes the approaches and methods used when studying procreation, which is understood to mean human reproduction in the value-based aspects. The latest trends in childbearing are becoming the subject of not only demography but also various studies in social sciences and humanities. In scientific and mundane discourses, the term «reproduction» prevails in the designation of procreation. The concept of «procreation» is appropriate to use in the axiological approach since it contains an indication of the ways of understanding (description, cognition, designation in language and discourse) human reproduction included in the process of creation, not production, of man. The emphasis on the value-semantic determinism of procreation allows us to note the correlation what and how is studied about childbearing and the way the obtained knowledge affects reproductive aspirations and intentions. There are distinguished pronatal and antenatal orientations in the methodological approaches to the study of modern procreative processes. Procreative understanding is associated with a pronatal position in the motivation and social regulation of childbearing. The author concludes about normative value of different approaches and methods in research for procreation. Scientific discourse normalizes the perception of the latest trends in the childbearing area. The article indicates that qualitative methods in the study of procreation are in demand since they allow one to describe the dynamic and subjective moments in its phenomena and do not lay claim to the universality of the established patterns, which corresponds to the recognition of cultural conditioning and value-based dependence in demographic processes. The paper critically assesses the idea of universality of rationalization criteria in the study of childbirth, which is widespread among demographers. When proceeding from the idea of a value-based determination of procreation, it is necessary to take into account and normalize irrational factors in the motivation of childbearing.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTAmong the projective methods of psychological assessment, the relevance of the Rorschach method stands out in the investigation of personality, albeit without normative references in the Parisian School for adolescents in Brazil. This study addresses this gap by developing normative standards of the Rorschach method (Parisian School) for this age group, evaluating specificities of production associated with sex, age and school system. The Rorschach tests were individually administered to 180 students aged from 15 to 17 years old, with typical signs of development. Data considering the 54 Rorschach's variables were descriptively and inferentially examined. The main average results were: (a) productivity: R = 17.7; (b) modes of apperception: G = 35.0%, D = 33.4%, Dd = 30.3% and Dd = 1.1%; (c) determinants and formal indexes: F% = 54.5%, F+% = 55.6% and F+ext% = 57.3%; (d) predominant content: A% = 51.0% and H% = 20.9%; (e) Ban = 17.0%. Specificities of production according to sex, age and school system were identified, which supports the analysis and interpretation of Rorschach's variables with contemporary Brazilian adolescents.
