A campaign to bring the law up-to-date with the current world of publishing has been led by the British Library, on behalf of all the legal deposit libraries and the publisher trade bodies. If the move is successful, new generic legislation will ensure that non-print formats are included within legal deposit – allowing UK businesses and education to benefit from access to the widest possible collections of research material, now and in the future.

Abstract:
Laser phototypesetting and computer to plate (CTP) technologies are widely used in print industry. These technologies are based on the complex photosensitive image process. The exposing and development processes result in waste of photosensitive materials and environment pollution. Green plate making technology is not based on photosensitive materials but nano-materials. The image process of the technology is to jet the nano-composite transfer printing material on super hydrophilic print plate with special nano and micro-structure. Then the oleophilic image area and hydrophilic non image area are formed by adjusting interface characters between the nano-composite transfer printing material and super hydrophilic print plate. The plate is used for printing without exposing and development. Without photosensitive image process, the technology has many advantages such as no operation in darkroom, simple process, environmental friendly and low cost. The key problems of print resolution and press life have been solved effectively by preparation of nano composite transfer printing material and super hydrophilic print plate. In this paper, the research process of the nano composite material and the print plate are presented.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose this study was to determine currency of print health materials readily available in North Carolina public libraries, through a statewide assessment. Two subject areas were examined: health reference and diabetes. Design/methodology/approach In total, 30 randomly selected public libraries were visited and unobtrusive stacks assessments were completed. Some months later, the libraries’ websites were examined for collection development policies, and online catalogs were searched using the keyword diabetes to identify possible discrepancies and additions. Findings For visits, publication dates for reference books ranged from 1899-2014 and the average number of holdings was 10 (range 0-30). The most common reference item, the AMA Family Medical Guide (2005), was available in 6 of 30 libraries. In diabetes collections, publication dates ranged from 1983-2013; the average number of books was nine (range 0-26). The Atkins Diabetes Revolution (2004) was the most common, available in 9 of 30 libraries. Two-thirds of libraries did not have a collection development policy online. Catalog searches revealed 10 titles prior to 1983 and 18 titles (non-cook books) from 2014-2016. Practical implications The study found overall that print health reference books were outdated. In diabetes collections, there were also many outdated items. It appears that regular weeding to assure currency of print health literature is not taking place. Originality/value The study demonstrates that public libraries may not be providing optimal print health information. With unprecedented access, it is imperative that librarians in all types of settings aid in health literacy promotion by assuring access to reliable and timely health information.

Abstract:
AbstractInkjet print heads have become the dominant printing element for home and office printers; they have been a key driver forthe digitization of wide-format graphic arts printing and other printing areas as diverse as addressing and carton coding. In the past few years, inkjet print heads have begun to have an impact in areas outside the graphics arts. In these applications, the inkjet print head may be considered a manufacturing tool; this implies that it will differ in design depending on the application. Also, standards forreliability, consistency, and dependability will differ from those in graphic arts areas. Even though non-graphic-arts applications differ widely in their details, there are general considerations in terms of the systems that are required. Each nontraditional application has specific goals for manufacturing, and a unique inkjet print head designed to meet these goals may be required. This article focuses on a specific piezo-based inkjet print head that has been engineered to meet the manufacturing requirements for flat-panel displays basedon light-emitting polymeric materials.

The responsibilities of my position as head of Central Technical Services for Rutgers University Libraries include oversight for acquisitions, cataloging, and the creation of non-MARC metadata for digital projects. Like many libraries, my institution has experienced budget cuts that have reduced the number of print materials that can be acquired and made accessible to our user community. Although a great deal of information is now provided electronically, we continue to acquire print resources for many reasons. For example, science selectors have argued that chemical equations and other figures are easier to read in print and do not display well in e-books. Other disciplines, such as art history, are better served by print. Smaller presses might not be able to afford to publish electronically and only provide print titles.

Abstract:
The aim of this research has been to demonstrate the use and applicability of substrates containing non-wood fibres in the printing industry, with an emphasis on flexographic printing for packaging. To obtain such substrates, laboratory papers were produced with the addition of 30% non-wood fibres (wheat, barley and triticale), in combination with recycled wood pulp. These substrates were tested for chemical and mechanical resistance after flexographic printing with conventional and ultraviolet curing inks. The results showed that all laboratory papers with the addition of 30% non-wood fibres, printed with water-based inks, had fairly good chemical and mechanical resistance, except for the prints treated with sodium hydroxide. Thus, such papers should not be used as packaging materials for alkaline products. UV-curable inks on these substrates showed low chemical resistance, thus should only be used on substrates intended for secondary packaging. The mechanical resistance of UV prints was very good, thus papers containing straw pulp could be used for various applications.

Abstract:
Abstract Print mottle is a serious and yet common print defect in offset printing. An imbalance between the feed of fountain solution and the ability of the paper substrate to absorb and transport this water away from the surface can cause moisture/water interference problems. In the study presented here, we have investigated the uniformity of aqueous absorption and coating structure of pilot-coated papers with different types and dosages of dispersants and linked this to print mottle and uncovered areas (UCA). In earlier studies, the print quality of these papers indicated that a moderate addition of excess dispersant caused ink refusal, ink-lift-off (ink-surface adhesion failure) and water-interference mottle when printing at elevated fountain feed. In the present study, we have shown that a majority of the samples with uneven water/moisture absorption and an uneven burn-out reflectance tended to have more severe printing problems related to surface-moisture/water.An aqueous staining technique was used to characterise the absorption non-uniformities. This method has been developed previously with focus on absorption of flexographic water-based inks but can clearly give relevant information also for offset printing, when it comes to moisture/water interference mottle.

Evidence Based Library and Information Practice 4, no. 1 (March 8, 2009): 21. http://dx.doi.org/10.18438/b8560c.

Abstract:
A Review of: Joint, Nicholas. “Is Digitisation the New Circulation?: Borrowing Trends, Digitisation and the nature of reading in US and UK Libraries.” Library Review 57.2 (2008): 87-95. Objective – To discern the statistical accuracy of reports that print circulation is in decline in libraries, particularly higher education libraries in the United States (U.S.) and United Kingdom (U.K.), and to determine if circulation patterns reflect a changing dynamic in patron reading habits. Design – Comparative statistical analysis. Setting – Library circulation statistics from as early as 1982 to as recent as 2006, culled from various sources with specific references to statistics gathered by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the Library and Information Statistics Unit (LISU), the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). Subjects – Higher education institutions in the United States and United Kingdom, along with public libraries to a lesser extent. Methods – This study consists of an analysis of print circulation statistics in public and higher education libraries in the U.S. and U.K., combined with data on multimedia circulation in public libraries and instances of digital access in university libraries. Specifically, NEA statistics provided data on print readership levels in the U.S. from 1982 to 2002; LISU statistics were analyzed for circulation figures and gate counts in U.K. public libraries; ARL statistics from 1996 to 2006 provided circulation data for large North American research libraries; NCES statistics from 1990 to 2004 contributed data on circulation in “tertiary level” U.S. higher education libraries; and ACRL statistics were analyzed for more circulation numbers for U.S. post-secondary education libraries. The study further includes data on U.K. trends in print readership and circulation in U.K. higher education libraries, and trends in U.S. public library circulation of non-print materials. Main Results – Analysis of the data indicates that print circulation is down in U.S. and U.K. public libraries and in ARL-member libraries, while it is up in the non-ARL higher education libraries represented and in UK higher education libraries. However, audio book circulation in U.S. public libraries supplements print circulation to the point where overall circulation of book materials is increasing, and the access of digital literature supplements print circulation in ARL-member libraries (although the statistics are difficult to measure and meld with print circulation statistics). Essentially, the circulation of book material is increasing in most institutions when all formats are considered. According to the author, library patrons are reading more than ever; the materials patrons are accessing are traditional in content regardless of the means by which the materials are accessed. Conclusion – The author contends that print circulation is in decline only where digitization efforts are extensive, such as in ARL-member libraries; when digital content is factored into the equation the access of book-type materials is up in most libraries. The author speculates that whether library patrons use print or digital materials, the content of those materials is largely traditional in nature, thereby resulting in the act of “literary” reading remaining a focal point of library usage. Modes of reading and learning have not changed, at least insofar as these things may be inferred from studying circulation statistics. The author asserts that digital access is favourable to patrons and that libraries should attempt to follow the ARL model of engaging in large-scale digitization projects in order to provide better service to their patrons; the author goes on to argue that U.K. institutions with comparable funding to ARLs will have greater success in this endeavour if U.K. copyright laws are relaxed.

Abstract:
Abstract This article is an attempt to delineate a new paradigm in the literary arts (including print literature and song poetry). According to the author’s hypothesis, this paradigm cannot be attributed simply to the onset of “digital culture.” The primary reason for the emergence of the new paradigm is the transition from the modernist-postmodernist text to the non-linear text. The transition began in print literature, continued in song poetry, and found its ultimate expression in cyberliterature. The second reason was a change in the artistic paradigm. According to Roland Barthes, in literature, the era of authorial intent (with the author’s mind as the focus) had given way to the period of textuality before reception (which focused on consciousness) became dominant. In this article, the author hypothesizes that at the end of the twentieth century the active postmodernist reception of literary texts was replaced by interactive nonlinear reception.

Abstract:
In recent years, 3D printing has enabled the fabrication of complex designs, with low-cost customization and an ever-increasing range of materials. Yet, these abilities have also created an enormous challenge in optimizing a large number of process parameters, especially in the 3D printing of swellable, non-toxic, biocompatible and biodegradable materials, so-called bio-ink materials. In this work, a cellulose gel, made out of aqueous solutions of cellulose, sodium hydroxide and urea, was used to demonstrate the formation of a shear thinning bio-ink material necessary for an extrusion-based 3D printing. After analysing the shear thinning behaviour of the cellulose gel by rheometry a Design of Experiments (DoE) was applied to optimize the 3D bioprinter settings for printing the cellulose gel. The optimum print settings were then used to print a human ear shape, without a need for support material. The results clearly indicate that the found settings allow the printing of more complex parts with high-fidelity. This confirms the capability of the applied method to 3D print a newly developed bio-ink material.

Abstract:
Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) is one of the newest additive manufacturing technologies for polymer powders, introduced in recent years. This fully industrial technology is gaining big interest as it allows fast, layer-by-layer, printing process, short production cycle, and very high printing resolution. In this paper, twelve thin-walled, spherical PA12 prints were studied in terms of geometry, dimensional accuracy, and fracture surface characteristics. The various characteristic features for MJF prints were observed here for parts produced according to four various print orientations and having different thicknesses, i.e., 1, 2 or 3 mm. The study showed that MJF technology can print such difficult shapes. However, the set of parameters allowing producing parts with highest geometrical and dimensional accuracy causes at the same time some microstructural issues, like great interlayer porosity or high number of non-processed powder particles embedded in the print structure.

The article reviews the main physical and physicochemical factors influencing the three-component system “fingerprint powder – prints bearing surface – sweat and grease print substance”. The authors propose new model compositions of fingerprint powders considering the reviewed common patterns: non-magnetic and luminescent magnetic. The features of prints bearing surfaces and developed fingerprint powders have been evaluated by applying electronic microscopy methods (scanning and probe microscopy). The authors have proven that the use of nano- and ultra disperse materials in the developed compositions (carbon nanotubes and shungite) enables to vary the sorption and adhesive capacity of fingerprint powders, which allows detecting fingerprints on varying surfaces with high selectivity toward the sweat and grease print substance and contrasting effect.

Abstract:
Manufacturing of ceramic multilayer applications by deposition techniques like screen printing, dispensing, or aerosol jet printing is state of the art today. However, in an industrial environment it is a complex challenge to integrate all equipment for precise paste handling and screen print of the microstructures in an existing production line. Moreover, big sized devices or items with a curved surface cannot be handled with standard screen print equipment. To overcome these limitations, a decal technology was investigated. The functional layers are stacked on non-adhesive paper by screen print, fulfilling all demands on precision in line/space ratio and layer thickness. Afterwards, a polymer varnish is printed on top of the stack, which allows to transfer the high precision thick film assembly to nearly any application surface including non-planar surfaces. Since the layers are co-fired, the sintering behavior of the materials has to be regulated. The top layer needs to remain porous until the organic burn-out and the sintering of the bottom layer is complete. Ways to obtain thick film metallization and isolation pastes which have satisfying firing behavior are examined, and the excellent functional properties are discussed. The performance of the developed thick film decals is demonstrated on the example of an alarm sensor on tempered safety glass for windows.

The purpose of this article is to explore the correlation between Namibian preprimary and Grade 1 parents’ demographic characteristics and print and digital reading practices in home environments. A quasi-experimental descriptive research design wasselected to launch this investigation in the Khomas region. Survey data documented the relationship between parents’ demographic variables and print and digital reading behaviours. The study tested the null-hypothesis (Hₒ: u1 = u2) and non-directional hypothesis (Hₒ: X1 ≠X2). The underlying assumption is that parents home reading practices positively impact children’s early language and literacy development. The findings reveal that there is no significant relationship between age, gender, education, family size, and employmentstatus, with print and digital reading behaviours that influence children’s emergent language and literacy development in home environments. In a Chi-Square test, the null hypothesis was rejected for age, gender, education, family size, and employment status, but retained and positively correlated to marital status, child reading behaviour, and parents’ book, magazine and newspaper reading behaviour. The implication is that when parents buy print materials for home reading purposes and engage their children in pleasurable reading experiences, their children are more likely to be supported at home to influence favourable language and literacy outcomes in school. The study contributes to family literacy literature and highlights the relationship between parents’ reading behaviours and children’s emergent language and literacy development. Abstract:
Semicrystalline polymers are an attractive feedstock choice for material extrusion (MatEx)-based three-dimensional printing processes. However, the printed parts often exhibit poor mechanical properties due to weak interlayer strength thereby limiting the widespread adoption of MatEx. Improved interlayer strength in the printed parts can be achieved through a combination of process parameter selection and material modification but a physics-based understanding of the underlying mechanism is not well understood. Furthermore, the localized thermal history experienced by the prints can significantly influence the strength of the interlayer welds. In this work, a combined experimental and modeling approach has been employed to highlight the relative impact of rheology, non-isothermal crystallization kinetics, and print geometry on the interlayer strength of printed parts of two semicrystalline polymers, namely, polylactic acid (PLA) and polypropylene (PP). Specifically, the print properties have been characterized as a function of print temperature and print speed. In the case of single road width wall (SRWW) PLA prints, the total crystalline fraction increases due to the broadening of the crystallization window at higher print temperatures and lower print speeds. The results are substantiated by the constitutive modeling results that account for the effects of quiescent crystallization. However, SRWW PP prints display a reduction in the interlayer properties with temperature likely due to significant flow-induced crystallization effects, as suggested by the model. Interestingly, in the case of multilayer PP prints, the repeated heating/cooling cycles encountered during printing counteracts the flow-induced effects leading to an increase in mechanical properties with print temperature consistent with SRWW PLA prints.

Abstract:
Print-capture (PC) Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was evaluated as a novel detection method of plant viruses. Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) plants infected with begomovirus (fam. Geminiviridae, gen. Begomovirus) and viruliferous whiteflies were used to study the efficiency of the method. Print-capturing steps were carried out using non-charged nylon membrane or filter paper as the solid support for DNA printings. Amplified DNA fragments of expected size were consistently obtained by PCR from infected plants grown in a greenhouse, after direct application of printed materials to the PCR mix. However, virus detection from a single whitefly and from field-grown tomato samples required a high temperature treatment of printed material prior to PCR amplification. Comparison of nylon membrane and filter paper as the solid support revealed the higher efficiency of the nylon membrane. The application of print-capture PCR reduces the chances of false-positive amplification by reducing manipulation steps during preparation of the target DNA. This method maintains all the advantages of PCR diagnosis, such as the high sensitivity and no requirement of radioactive reagents.

Abstract:
This article describes the development of the “Time to Change Your Behavior” (TTCYB) study protocol, a theory-based, tailored print message intervention to improve compliance with the self-care regimen in patients with cardiovascular diseases. A design with a baseline measurement and two follow-ups at six and 12 months will be applied. At baseline and the six-month follow-up, patients will complete self-report questionnaires evaluating lifestyle habits and socio-demographic and psychological variables; at the 12-month follow-up, patients will answer a telephone interview assessing lifestyle habits. After the baseline measurement, patients will be randomized into one of three groups: (1) the tailored group, which will receive tailored health brochures; (2) the “non-tailored” group, which will receive non-tailored health brochures; or (3) the usual care group, which will receive no print information materials. The effectiveness of the intervention will be assessed through patients’ judgments of the brochures and changes in lifestyle. The role of socio-demographic and psychological variables as potential moderators of the materials’ effectiveness will be explored. If the TTCYB is efficacious, it will have implications for the design and implementation of tailored communication programs. Concepts from this study can be potentially extended to primary prevention among high-risk groups.

This article will describe a part of the results of the research that aims to analyze the relationship between literacy skills, domicile and learning outcomes of the Mataram Universitas Terbuka (UT) students. This research was conducted using a correlational survey method. The data were collected with an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The population is the 2020 Early Childhood Education Teacher (ECET) Program students as many as 982 students. The sample is an ECET Program new students who are in the odd and even semesters of 2020 as many as 213 students. All samples are respondents. The results show that there is no significant relationship between domicile, and student learning achievement and I-literacy with student learning achievement. This is because student learning achievement are based on their ability to read and master the Basic Materials Book. Recommendations that can be conveyed are to prepare new students to study independently, train how to learn to use print and non-print media, including how to understand the content of the Basic Materials Book.

A local ground orchid, Spathoglottis plicata Blume, and coconut, Cocos nucifera L., were used in the classroom to teach seed germination. S. plicata, a common orchid on Guam, was utilized to demonstrate the aseptic culture of seeds under non-sterile conditions. The procedures were done in the classroom without a laminar air-flow cabinet. Nonsterile seeds were sown on growing media which were prepared without autoclaving, but by incorporating sodium hypochlorite into the media. Students had a high rate of success in germinating the orchid seeds without contamination by spraying sodium hypochlorite on the seeds. Different stages of coconut seed development were presented to students by simply cutting coconut in half. Unique features and botanical terms of coconut seed development can be taught throughout the year. Teaching materials on seed germination of the two tropical plants are being developed by print-on-demand methods.

Abstract:
Materials with a complex visual appearance, like goniochromatic or non-diffuse, are widely used for the packaging industry. Measuring optical properties of such materials requires a bidirectional approach, and therefore, it is difficult and time consuming to characterize such a material. We investigate the suitability of using an image-based measurement setup to measure materials with a complex visual appearance and model them using two well-established reflection models, Cook–Torrance and isotropic Ward. It was learned that the complex materials typically used in the print and packaging industry, similar to the ones used in this paper, can be measured bidirectionally using our measurement setup, but with a noticeable error. Furthermore, the performance of the reflection models used in this paper shows big errors colorimetrically, especially for the goniochromatic material measured.

Abstract:
We used two different experimental methods to study the effects of sheet temperature at a given moisture content on web densification and sheet smoothness. Commercially prepared paperboard obtained from the WestRock Mahrt mill in Cottonton, AL, USA, was used in this study. Laboratory made handsheets prepared from Mahrt high yield kraft pine pulp were also used for portions of this work. Sheets were sealed in moisture-proof bags, heated to various temperatures, and calendered at multiple nip loads. The resulting changes in sheet density were determined. Additionally, a pilot-scale calender was modified to preheat the non-print side of the sheet before entering the nip. The modified sheet run allowed for an increase in the bulk temperature of the board with minimal changes in the moisture content of the print surface. Increasing the bulk temperature increased board density at a given print surface smoothness. We determined that increasing the board temperature by 14°C resulted in about a 1% increase in board density. The results of this study help explain the commercial results obtained with thermal gradient calendering.

Abstract:
For the additive manufacturing (AM) of metal objects, the powder-based fusion (PBF) method is routinely utilized to fabricate macroscale parts. On the other hand, electrochemical additive manufacturing (ECAM), in which metallic structures are deposited through the electrochemical reduction of metal ions, is a promising technique for producing micro- and nanoscale objects. However, a gap exists in terms of fabricating mesoscale objects within the current AM techniques. The PBF method is limited by fabrication precision due to pronounced residual stresses, and most current ECAM systems are difficult to scale up to print mesoscale objects. In the present paper, the novel design of a low-cost ECAM 3D printer based on a microfluidic system is proposed for fabricating mesoscale metal parts. The meniscus-guided electrodeposition approach is utilized, in which a meniscus is formed between the print head and substrate, and electrodeposition is confined within the meniscus. A 3D object is fabricated by the meniscus moving with the print head according to the programmed pattern and the material subsequently being deposited at the designated locations. The key to the proposed design is to maintain a mesoscale meniscus, which normally cannot be sustained by the electrolyte surface tension with a print nozzle having a mesoscale diameter. Therefore, a microfluidic system, called the fountain pen feed system, constituting a semi-open main channel and comb structure, was designed to maintain a mesoscale meniscus throughout the printing process. Two materials, copper and nickel, with various geometric shapes were attempted to print by the proposed ECAM system, and, during the printing process, both fluid leaking and meniscus breaking were completely prevented. Free standing tilted copper pillars with controlled angles were printed to show the ability of the proposed design in fabricating 3D structures. A copper circuit was also printed on a non-conductive substrate to demonstrate a possible application of the proposed ECAM system in the fabrication of functional electronics.

Abstract:
In physical education (PE) learning, one of the main problems faced by PE teachers is the lack of facilities and equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to find a better solution to solve this problem. This study used a descriptive evaluative and comparative research design to determine the level of achievement of the context, input, process, and product evaluation components in the learning program. This research was conducted in 3 selected schools in the Maguindanao Division-1, Philippines. The results show that books are used "widely" by sports teachers and journals are used for printed materials while electronic journals are never used for non-print references. Furthermore, overhead projectors, fitness centers, lockers, kick pads, jumping pits, punching bags, megaphones, and signage are teaching materials that have never been used in the delivery of lessons by sports teachers, local material development and alternative games are rarely used by PE teachers. Sports teachers invite alumni to help with sporting activities, and they also tap old players to help in the basketball game even though they never use beeps but only whistle. The level of use of printed materials by schools differed significantly between schools. So are results with non-printed or electronic material. In addition, researchers suggest that schools provide additional and up-to-date sports books for teachers and students, and, schools should provide other teaching materials that will assist teachers in teaching in the classroom.

Abstract:
Purpose: Analysis and the review of 3D scanning methods, methods of combining 3D scans and tables available on the market (rotary, tilt and turn) as non-destructive testing systems of polymer materials. As the problem of deformation testing of elements produced by 3D printing is relatively novel, so far a small number of publications on this subject have been observed in terms of current solutions in the area of methodology and devices. Design/methodology/approach: 3D print samples have been prepared using MultiJet Printing (MJP), also called PolyJet Printing. The first sample was left in a UV oven and the second one in a dark cabinet, without access to sunlight (standard conditions 23/50 as described in ISO 554:1976). Non-contact structured blue light 3D metrology grade scanner was used to capture the entire part geometry for inspection. A comparison of subsequent scans after postcuring with reference scans after printing can indicate dimensional changes. The resulting scans are detailed enough to monitor shape and size changes over time. Findings: Universal 3D printing model beneficial in distortion analysis has been proposed. The method of evaluating 3D print distortions was verified using a metrology class 3D scanner. The results of this study show that deformations are declining through time to near the same values, the only difference is the rate of change of dimensions. Practical implications: Due to popularity and lower cost of polymer 3D printing, in comparison to metal 3D printing, an initial attempt to analyse the distortion of the locally melted substrate was done using MultiJet 3D printing with photopolymer material. The universal 3D print test part was proposed for verification of 3D printing deformations. Finally, the framework for the determination of 3D printing distortions is presented, taking into account the influence of UV postcuring. Originality/value: Analysis of a method to measure 3D printing distortions using a metrology grade 3D scanner is presented in the paper. Recently, this matter is becoming more and more important because many prototypes are increasingly produced by 3D printing and 3D printing distortions may cause many difficulties during the manufacturing and assembly process.

Abstract:
The study aimed towards the development and evaluation of glocalized experiential learning-infused resource package in Earth and Life Science. The study used the educational design research method and involved the generation of a learning resource package. Participants of the study include the Grade 11 students of LNFVHS, S.Y. 2019-2020, as well as learning experts. Both qualitative and quantitative data were gathered for the study. Qualitative data came from focus group discussions, while quantitative data came from the results of the Bioenergetics test and Learning Material Evaluation Form. The least mastered competencies generated were The Cell, Photosynthetic Reactions, and Acquisition and Utilization of Energy. From this result, a glocalized experiential learning infused resource package was developed consisting of three learning materials based on the least mastered concepts--two (2) print materials (Learner’s Material and Teacher’s Guide) and one (1) non-print (Video-Based Module). The resource package was rated as very acceptable (3.70 for Learner’s Material, 3.65 for Teacher’s Guide, and 3.62 for the Video-Based Module). The study revealed that when learning materials were glocalized, contextualized, and infused with experiential learning activities, learners were more likely to be engaged in learning the concepts. The learning package developed helped in encouraging independent learning and a good source of supplemental learning material for Grade 11 and other grade levels.

Abstract:
Compared with current methods, additive manufacturing processes could offer a more environment-friendly and cost-effective solution in producing long lasting RFID tags for identification and sensing applications. In this work we report the fabrication of UHF RFID antennas by inkjet printing on a flexible substrate. Silver and gold were chosen as ink materials since they are more resistant to weathering than other metals, particularly for applications that require long-term reusability. We compared the print performance of a commercial silver ink and our lab-developed gold nanoparticle (AuNP) ink on polyethylene naphthalate. The printing process for each ink is described using an adopted loop antenna design optimized for 866-868 MHz frequency range. Assembled passive and battery-assisted RFID tags using single-and double-layer sintered, printed antennas coupled with a readable UHF RFID chip showed tolerable detection distances using a commercial compact reader (with short read range specifications). Additionally, we observed a more consistent print behavior and quality, and consequently longer read ranges for the gold antennas (up to 40 cm with battery). Furthermore, the silver antennas oxidized over time resulting in decreased read ranges. Overall, our results show the viability of a printable gold RFID antenna with a tag working range that may be fit for close range non-contact reading.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to evaluate and predict the tensile properties of additively manufactured continuous wire polymer composites (CWPCs). Design/methodology/approach An open-source 3D printer was modified to print CWPCs where metal wires act as a reinforcement within a polymer matrix. The influence of different wire materials and diameters on the tensile modulus and ultimate tensile strength was studied. Different polymer matrixes were used to investigate the effect of the matrix on CWPCs’ tensile properties. The behaviour of samples was predicted analytically using the rule of mixture micromechanical approach and investigated experimentally using an American society for testing and materials standard tensile test. Findings Experimental results showed improvement in the elastic modulus and ultimate strength of CWPCs compared with non-reinforced specimens. Deviation between the experimental data and the analytical prediction was found to be dependent on the matrix type, wire volume fraction and wire material. Originality/value This paper introduces novel continuous metal wire-reinforced 3D printed composites. The continuous wire inside the print can be used as a strain gauge which can give an early alert for material failure. Applications for CWPCs include 3D-printed pressure and temperature sensors which measure the change in the wire’s electrical resistance and 3D-printed heaters which would work by supplying current through continuous wires.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is responsible for the Filipino cultural heritage; its Library, initiated in 1969, serves as a national repository of material on art and the humanities, and is available to the public for reference. The collections have developed in part thanks to gifts, of publications and of funds; materials are acquired by purchase, through exchange agreements, and because other CCP departments deposit their publications in the Library. The Library is now short of both space and staff. Printed materials are classified using an expanded version of LC; non-print materials are organised by format and access number, a system which is increasingly unsatisfactory. Reference and bibliographic services include the Library’s own catalogue, and a Union cataloge on Philippine Culture produced by the Library. Future plans include automation and the creation of a database devoted to Filipino art and culture.

This article aims to learn how to conduct an adequate evaluation using approaches based on Islamic philosophy. Because inconsistencies in the implementation of educational assessments can lead to less than optimal results after inspection, this requires appropriate methods for the full review. The author made this article with a library approach, collecting materials from library books, research reports, newspapers, books, research reports, theses, dissertations, and scientific journals in print and non-print media. In Islamic education, the purpose of the evaluation is to make al-Insan al-Kamil human or a complete human person. Likewise, the purpose of education is to educate students to have faith, be pious, develop a religious mentality, master science, and apply what has been learned in school to adapt to the life of the wider community. Evaluation can also provide feedback to students about their achievements and the extent of their perspectives and knowledge during the learning process. Philosophy also educates people to think, have insight, and reason broadly to view an event or problem from various perspectives, with the result being the correct answer.

Abstract:
The present work intends to focus on the examination, analysis and treatment of Pace, a contemporary color photography experimental artwork created by Nino Migliori in 1973. Given the particular nature of the artifact, in which the photographic materials and the media of contemporary art coexist in a complex interaction, an in-depth study of its creation, structure and components was deemed necessary to plan and perform an adequate conservation treatment. The preliminary research was conducted in order to contextualize the artwork within the author’s production, to understand the creation process, to identify the photographic technique of the print and the stratigraphic sequencing, and to characterize the constituent materials of each layer through non-invasive and micro-invasive diagnostic analysis. The severe detachments and lifts of the print from the underlying aluminum panel and the subsequent planarity alterations of the photograph, strongly compromised the legibility of the artwork and put its future conservation at risk. Therefore, the elaboration of a minimally invasive intervention methodology was required. Approaching contemporary works of art, which are at the same time also photographic objects, can present some theoretical and practical challenges, and in the near future lots of professionals in the field of art conservation are probably going to face analogue conservation problems on similar objects. The results obtained through the preliminary study phase and the conservation treatment may offer a good starting point for further research on how to examine, analyze and treat this kind of photographic objects.

Abstract:
Microparticles are ubiquitous in applications ranging from electronics and drug delivery to cosmetics and food. Conventionally, non-spherical microparticles in various materials with specific shapes, sizes, and physicochemical properties have been fabricated using cleanroom-free lithography techniques such as soft lithography and its high-resolution version particle replication in non-wetting template (PRINT). These methods process the particle material in its liquid/semi-liquid state by deformable molds, limiting the materials from which the particles and the molds can be fabricated. In this study, the microparticle material is exploited as a sheet placed on a deformable substrate, punched by a robust mold. Drawing inspiration from the macro-manufacturing technique of punching metallic sheets, Micromechanical Punching (MMP) is a high-throughput technique for fabrication of non-spherical microparticles. MMP allows production of microparticles from prepatterned, porous, and fibrous films, constituting thermoplastics and thermosetting polymers. As an illustration of application of MMP in drug delivery, flat, microdisk-shaped Furosemide embedded poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) microparticles are fabricated and Furosemide release is observed. Thus, it is shown in the paper that Micromechanical punching has potential to make micro/nanofabrication more accessible to the research and industrial communities active in applications that require engineered particles.

Abstract:
Objective: To explore how the commonsense understanding, that those with a mental illness are dangerous, is deployed in a small sample of print media. Method: The print media sample was subjected to a discourse analysis informed by knowledge of media practices. Materials were read closely and references to mental illness were identified, classified and analysed. Results: This non-sensational material was shown to provide repeated confirmations of the commonsense understanding that mental illnesses make people unpredictable and dangerous. Close study of the lead article suggested that it was written so that readers had to draw on such understandings to make sense of the account it presented. Conclusion: The study challenges the notion that media present negative depictions of mental illnesses either because journalists are poorly informed or because ‘sensation sells’. It is concluded that media practices directed at engaging readers require the use of cases and a style of writing that forces readers to draw upon commonsense knowledge of mental illness to understand the text. It is argued that this is a deliberate effort to enlist readers as co-creators of the text and thereby increase their interest.

Both non-destructive and destructive tests, including metallographic and fractographic analyses, were performed within the experiment. Microstructure analysis shows that the initial texture of the 3D print disappears toward the fuse boundary. It is evident that high temperature during welding has a positive effect on microstructure. Material failure occurred in the base material near the heat affected zone (HAZ). The results obtained show the fundamental influence of SLM technology in terms of material defects, on the properties of welded joints.

Abstract:
This article is devoted to analyzing the anti-cult discourse in the Republic of Belarus in 1996–2000. The print media and the anti-cult movement are selected as objects of research because of their significant role in this discourse. The main features when it comes to covering the topic of new religious movements by both actors are investigated by method of standardized survey of texts on a sample of 521 anti-cult articles from 57 Belarusian newspapers. The range of variability of religious organizations identified as new religious movements is revealed, and their distribution by type of structure is analyzed. The results are compared to the estimated population universe of new religions of the Republic of Belarus. The frequency of their mentions is established, as well as a group of organizations that are criticized by actors, but have never operated in the country. The range of variability and frequency of use of special terminology is disclosed. The influence of the anti-cult discourse on changes in the evaluative connotations of special terms is analyzed. Different facts from the history and modern practice of the anti-cult movement are examined, all of which are particularly important in terms of understanding the specifics of its representatives’ attitudes towards non-specialized print media. The ambivalent nature of the coverage of the topic of new religions in the press and its influence on the anti-cult movement is noted. Special care is taken defining the place and role of print media and the anti-cult movement in the complex system of society’s anti-cult discourse. Based on the data obtained, the dominant theory of the unilateral influence of the anti-cult movement on print media is criticized. An alternative hypothesis on the complex genesis of anti-cult discourse is proposed, in which the specifics of its main features as perceived by each subject are influenced by many different factors. Two methodological problems related to searching for and recording materials relevant for analyzing this discourse and verifying this theory are identified.

Abstract:
Several inflammatory conditions of the bile ducts cause strictures that prevent the drainage of bile into the gastrointestinal tract. Non-pharmacological treatments to re-establish bile flow include plastic or self-expanding metal stents (SEMs) that are inserted in the bile ducts during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures. The focus of this study was to 3D print an anatomically accurate model of the extrahepatic bile ducts (EHBDs) with tissue-like mechanical properties to improve in vitro testing of stent prototypes. Following generation of an EHBD model via computer aided design (CAD), we tested the ability of Formlabs SLA 3D printers to precisely print the model with polymers selected based on the desired mechanical properties. We found the printers were reliable in printing the dimensionally accurate EHBD model with candidate polymers. Next, we evaluated the mechanical properties of Formlabs Elastic (FE), Flexible (FF), and Durable (FD) resins pre- and post-exposure to water, saline, or bile acid solution at 37 °C for up to one week. FE possessed the most bile duct-like mechanical properties based on its elastic moduli, percent elongations at break, and changes in mass under all liquid exposure conditions. EHBD models printed in FE sustained no functional damage during biliary stent deployment or when tube connectors were inserted, and provided a high level of visualization of deployed stents. These results demonstrate that our 3D printed EHBD model facilitates more realistic pre-clinical in vitro testing of biliary stent prototypes.

Abstract:
Fused deposition modeling (FDM) or 3D printing is one of the promising techniques widely preferred to fabricate complex and customized 3D objects or prototypes for various engineering and non-engineering applications. With the growing demands of customized prototypes, researchers are facing a major challenge for maintaining effective part quality with adequate surface finish and strength; and minimizing the cost, defects, and waste in 3D printing. Condition monitoring is one of the strategies to achieve the aforementioned. It has a huge potential to minimize defects and print failures in 3D printing. The main objective of this research work is to perform online condition monitoring of the nozzle status with the help of vibration signals in fused deposition modelling process. The effect of nozzle clogging on the consistency of material deposition and its effect on surface finish has experimentally investigated in this work. The set of experiments were performed by artificially creating the condition of nozzle clogging to investigate the effect of nozzle clogging on print quality (surface finish). Nozzle clogging condition was created by increasing the feed rate of polylactic acid (PLA) filament at a low heat supply rate to the nozzle by modifying the commands of 3D printer. The layer thickness was varied throughout the experiments to observe the nozzle clogging. The vibrations signals were acquired by using an accelerometer that was mounted near the nozzle. The data acquisition frequency of the accelerometer was 12500Hz. Further, the acquired vibration signals were analyzed using the Fast Fourier transformation (FFT) signal processing technique. Results revealed that nozzle clogging severely affects surface quality and geometrical accuracy of the fabricated 3D part due to nozzle vibration and non-uniform material deposition. Moreover, nozzle clogging and its relevant consequences like non uniform material deposition can be monitored using vibration signal-based condition monitoring during part fabrication and based upon that appropriate measures can be taken for defects and waste elimination.

Abstract:
Traditional contact printing technology is primarily controlled by the shape of the mask to form the size, while for the more popular non-contact printing technologies, in recent years, adjusting the print parameters has become a direct way to control the result of the printing. High-viscosity conductive pastes are generally processed by screen printing, but this method has limited accuracy and wastes material. Direct-write printing is a more material-efficient method, but the printing of high-viscosity pastes has extrusion difficulties, which affects the printed line width. In this paper, we addressed these problems by studying the method of printing high-viscosity conductive paste with a self-made glass nozzle. Then, by parameter optimization, we achieved the minimum line width printing. The results showed that the substrate moving speed, the print height, and the feed pressure were the key factors affecting the line width and stability. The combination of the printing parameters of 0.6 MPa feed pressure, 200 mm/s substrate moving speed, and 150 μm print height can achieve a line width of approximately 30 μm. In addition, a mathematical model of the line width and parameters was established, and the prediction accuracy was within 5%. The results and the prediction model of the parameters provide an important reference for the printing of high-viscosity pastes, which have immense potential applications in electronics manufacturing and bioprinting.

Abstract:
Digital printing techniques are increasingly present in the field of textile printing. Particularly prominent is the inkjet printing technique using water-based inks, while UV LED inkjet printing also increasingly being in use. UV LED inkjet is primarily not intended for direct clothing printing; however, it can be used especially as a hybrid solution in the soft signage market. It is a great option for the printers that are not engaged only in textile print¬ing, and want a more versatile print portfolio, extending it to non-clothing textile products, e.g. soft signage and non-wearable products. As these types of products often require colour reproduction of logos, accurate colour reproduction, good ink adhesion and sharpness are important just like in other printing technologies. In order to evaluate the impact of UV LED radiation amount on colour differences, ink bleeding and abrasion resistance, six different fabric samples (five woven and one nonwoven) were printed using a UV LED inkjet printer. Based on the results of colour difference, it was established that a reduction of UV radiation (by half the manufacturer’s recommended amount) had no effect on this parameter. However, perceptible colour differences were observed with the use of different M measurement conditions defined by the international standard ISO 13655-2017. Reducing the amount of UV radiation had no effect on the adhesion and durability of the printed ink. Small differences detected in these two parameters were mainly a consequence of the properties of textile materials and not of decreased UV radiation.
