Abstract:
Bangunan yang hancur oleh gempa dapat dicegah dengan memperkuat struktur bangunan terhadap gaya gempa yang bekerja padanya. Perkuatan bangunan dapat dilakukan dengan memperkaku bangunan dalam arah lateral yaitu <em>moment resisting frame</em> (<em>rigid frame</em>), <em>braced frame</em> dan <em>shear wall</em>. Bangunan dinding geser merupakan salah satu jenis <em>bangunan</em> tahan gempa gedung beton bertulang menggunakan sistem rangka struktur yang dikombinasikan. Kinerja gedung akan bertambah dan menjadi optimal jika pola penempatan <em>dinding geser</em> serta metode analisanya tepat. Sistem lainnya dalam mengurangi kerusakan bangunan akibat gempa dengan <em>performance based seismic design</em> yaitu dengan menggunakan <em>base isolator.</em>, yang memanfaatkan teknik analisa non-linear berbasis komputer untuk menganalisa perilaku inelastis struktur dari berbagai macam intensitas gerakan tanah (<em>gempa</em>), sehingga dapat diketahui kinerjanya pada kondisi kritis. Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perioda dalam penggunaan <em>base isolator </em>dengan yang tanpa menggunakan <em>base isolator,</em> pada bangunan sistem ganda, lantai 10 tingkat, bentuk beraturan pada bangunan dinding geser. Analisis data yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan bantuan <em>software </em>komputer <em>SAP2000</em>. Pembebanan pada gedung didasarkan pada peraturan bangunan gedung beton bertulang dan analisa dinamik <em>Time History Modal Analysi</em>s struktur dalam Tata Cara Perencanaan Ketahanan Gempa Untuk Struktur Bangunan Gedung Dan Non Gedung (SNI 1726:2012). Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa penggunaan <em>base isolator</em> memperbesar perioda alami. Nilai perioda pada dinding geser dan dinding geser <em>base isolator</em> besarnya berturut-turut 0.988 detik dan 2.465 detik. Hal ini menyebabkan gaya gempa yang bekerja menjadi lebih kecil.

Abstract:
In order to ensure profitability for shareholders, optimal contracting recommends the alignment between executive compensation and company performance. Large organizations have therefore adopted executives remuneration systems in order to induce positive market reaction and motivate executives. Complex compensation schemes are designed by Boards of Directors using strong pay-performance incentives that explain high levels of executive pay along with company size, demand for management skills and executive influence. However, the literature remains inconclusive on the pay-performance relationship owing to the various empirical methods used by researchers. Additionally, there has been little effort in the literature to compare methodologies on the pay-performance relationship. Using the dominant agency theory framework, the purpose of this study is to establish and examine the relationship between firm performance and executive pay. In addition, it intends to assess the characteristic of model specifications commonly adopted. To this aim, a quantitative analysis consisting of three complementary methods was performed on panel data from South African listed companies. The results of the main unrestricted first difference model indicate a strong non-linear relationship where the impact of current and previous firm performance on executive pay can be observed over 2 to 4-year period providing support to the optimal contracting theoretical perspective in the South African business context. In addition, CEO pay is more sensitive to firm performance as compared to Director pay. Lastly, although it affects executive pay levels, company size is not found to improve the pay-performance relationship.

Abstract:
Electronic tongue coupled with linear and non-linear multivariate algorithms was attempted to address the drawbacks of fish freshness detection. Parabramis pekinensis fish samples stored at 4&deg;C were used. Total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) and total viable count (TVC) of the samples were measured. Fisher liner discriminant analysis (Fisher LDA) and support vector machine (SVM) were applied comparatively to classify the samples stored at different days. The results revealed that SVM model was better than Fisher LDA model with a higher identification rate of 97.22% in the prediction set. Partial least square (PLS) and support vector regression (SVR) were applied comparatively to predict the TVB-N and TVC values. The quantitative models were evaluated by the root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) and the correlation coefficient in the prediction set (R<sub>pre</sub>). The results revealed that SVR model was superior to PLS model with RMSEP = 5.65 mg/100 g, R<sub>pre</sub> = 0.9491 for TVB-N prediction and RMSEP = 0.73 log CFU/g, R<sub>pre</sub>&nbsp;= 0.904 for TVC prediction. This study demonstrated that the electronic tongue together with SVM and SVR has a great potential for a convenient and nondestructive detection of fish freshness. &nbsp;
