Abstract:
The paper presents the results of non-destructive testing to the final control of automotive heat exchangers, which must meet a number of technological and exploitative requirements resulting from their working conditions. For the observation of images of heat exchangers, verification of geometrical dimensions and identification of surface and volume defects, the used methods were: computed tomography (highresolution microtomograph Phoenix v|tome|x), three-dimensional optical scanning (3D GOM ATOS III optical scanner), coordinate measuring technique (coordinate measuring machine Hexagon Global Performance 122210). The effectiveness of nondestructive testing in industrial conditions was assessed and the directions of further research in this area were indicated.

Abstract:
This paper is an attempt to investigate the non-stationary process in the global market shares of automotive industry of top 26 automotive producing nations. The time series data of global automotive market shares of top 26 automotive producing nations were collected from data stream Eikon for the period from 2002 to 2014. Augmented Dickey Fuller Unit root test (ADF URT) is used to investigate the non-stationarities or shocks in the outlined series of global automotive market shares. Findings confirmed the presence of shocks or non-stationarity (absence of stationary process) in global market shares of almost all top automotive producing nations except of Australia, India, Malaysia and South Africa for2002 to 2014. Findings further revealed that the non-stationarities got fixed at 2nd difference in all outlined series of global market shares of automotive for the period from 2002 to 2014. It is also revealed that there are the same shocking patterns in the global market shares of all top automotive producing nations with few exception.

Abstract:
Due to the technological revolution, in order to withstand competition, giant production companies are obliged to provide customers with the most reliable and safe products in the shortest possible time while keeping the price of the product affordable to customers as well. To achieve this goal, the companies must undertake several complicated tasks, such as making complex dimensional measurements, detecting the defects, and repairing them before bringing the product to market. At that point the non-destructive testing (NDT) comes into play which is a very broad concept containing myriad of conventional and also state-of-the-art methodologies. In this paper, several techniques for NDT, such as X-ray imaging, acoustic emission, ultrasonic testing, infrared thermography, digital image correlation, terahertz testing, shearography will be investigated. Moreover, the principles, advantages and disadvantages and application areas of these techniques will be introduced, and specific examples will be described for some of the methods.

The objectives of this paper are essentially twofold. In the first case an experimental study of a number of shock absorbers is presented; the restoring force surface method of non-linear system identification is applied in order to determine the non-linear characteristics of the absorbers in an easily visualizable manner. In the second part, a new physical model for the absorber is presented which incorporates effects due to compressibility of the fluid in the absorber; this provides a more realistic representation of the stiffness characteristics than previous simple models. The new model is compared with the experimental data.

The development of automotive cyber-physical systems (CPS) software needs to consider not only functional requirements, but also non-functional requirements and the interaction with physical environment. In this paper, a model-based software development method for automotive CPS (MoBDAC) is presented. The main contributions of this paper are threefold. First, MoBDAC covers the whole development workflow of automotive CPS software from modeling and simulation to code generation. Automatic tools are used to improve the development efficiency. Second, MoBDAC extracts nonfunctional requirements and deals with them in the implementation model level and source code level, which helps to correctly manage and meet non-functional requirements. Third, MoBDAC defines three kinds of relations between uncertain physical environment events and software internal actions in automotive CPS, and uses Model Modifier to integrate the interaction with physical environment. Moreover, we illustrate the development workflow of MoBDAC by an example of a power window development.

Purpose – This purpose of this paper is to investigate the diagnostic abilities and dimensional structure of the SERVQUAL scale within a non-western automotive repair services setting. Design/methodology/approach – Data collected from a randomly generated sample of 555 participants that produced a 50.63 percent response rate was factor analyzed and tested for internal scale consistency. A one sample t-test and a median ranking statistics of component extractions were also conducted. Findings – This study reveals that the SERVQUAL scale is a valid and reliable measure of service quality within the automotive repair services setting in a non-western context. Further outcomes from the assessment show that, even though the original five dimensional SERVQUAL structure was successfully replicated, there were definite differences in items assignment. Empathy also emerged as the most important dimension of service quality. Research limitations/implications – The outcomes of this study cannot be generalized. As such, the SERVQUAL scale should receive more rigorous research in non-western contexts in two directions. First, the scale should be tested across other services fields to further confirm its diagnostic abilities and dimensional structure. Second, more multi-sectoral as well as cross-cultural studies tested across larger data sets is equally required to enhance generalizability of findings across other non-western environments. Originality/value – This study demonstrated that the SERVQUAL scale is a valid and reliable measure of service quality within the automotive repair services setting in a non-western context with empathy emerging as the most significant dimension of service quality.

The population in this research is the automotive (car) marketers in Palembang. The research sample was determined using a non probability sampling technique, namely convenience sampling, as many as 75 repondents. The result showed that the automotive marketers in Palembang was dominated by the Campers with moderate adversity quotient level. This research also shows that adversity quotient has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction of automotive marketers in Palembang during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Purpose This paper aims to deploy Lean Six Sigma (LSS) framework to facilitate defect reduction and enhance bottom line results of an automotive component manufacturing organization. Design/methodology/approach LSS is a business process improvement strategy widely used in the manufacturing field for enhancing manufacturing organization performance. The integration of Lean and Six Sigma will enable the attainment of defects reduction by eliminating non-value-adding activities from production line. LSS framework has been developed with the integration of define–measure–analysis–improve–control (DMAIC) tools and techniques. Findings The finding of this study is that the LSS framework has been successfully implemented in automotive component manufacturing organization, and non-value-adding activities and defects from assembly line have been reduced. The proposed LSS framework applies lean tools within Six Sigma DMAIC approach to facilitate waste elimination and defect reduction. The developed framework with linkage of DMAIC tools and techniques reduces defects and non-value-adding activities with enhanced bottom line results. The implementation of proposed LSS framework shows effective improvement in key metrics. Research limitations/implications The developed framework has been test implemented in an automotive component manufacturing organization. In future, more number of studies could be conducted. Further, advanced lean tools and techniques could be included in the framework for increasing the effectiveness of production line. Practical implications The proposed LSS framework with linkage of DMAIC tools and techniques has been successfully implemented in an assembly line of automotive component manufacturing organization. This method is presently applied for an automotive component manufacturing organization; in future, the approach could be applied in different industrial sectors with addition of new tools and techniques for improving its effectiveness. Originality/value LSS framework has been designed and test implemented in an assembly line of an automotive component manufacturing organization. Hence, the inferences are practical and key results of the study.

Automotive dampers are an important element of a vehicle's suspension system for controlling road handling and passenger ride comfort. Many automotive dampers have non-linear asymmetric characteristics to accommodate the incompatible requirements between ride comfort and road handling, thus the ride comfort engineer requires techniques that can characterize this non-linear behaviour and provide models of the dampers for use in ride performance simulations of the full suspension system. The work presented in this paper is concerned with developing a frequency domain technique using higher order frequency response functions (HFRFs) to characterize a Monroe automotive damper. The principal diagonals and multidimensional surfaces of the HFRFs up to third order are obtained. Non-linear damping coefficients for the damper are derived from the HFRFs and the energy transfer properties are investigated. The results show that the majority of the HFRFs contain no peaks or resonances, indicating that the damper has no preferred frequencies for energy transfer. The accuracy of the damping coefficients determined from the HFRFs is poor. This is due to the inability of the technique to measure the pure HFRFs and separate the effects of non-linearities in the input actuator from those in the damper. It is concluded that these constraints currently impose some limit on the use of the methodology.

This study’s purpose is twofold. On the one hand, it analyzes the relationship between the profitability of firms and the tone of nonfinancial disclosures; on the other hand, it tests the relationship between the environmental, social, and governing (ESG) performance of firms and the tone of nonfinancial disclosures on the automotive sector under two different and competing approaches, which are incremental information and impression management. The sample is composed of 68 nonfinancial reports issued by 17 automotive organizations between the years 2016 and 2020. Data analysis proceeded in two stages. First, a content analysis was performed to assess the linguistic attributes of the nonfinancial disclosure. Second, an inferential regression analysis was performed to test the hypothesized associations between firms’ performance and tone of their disclosures. The results of this study are aimed at providing evidence of the determinants of the verbal tone in the corporate nonfinancial reporting in a specific industry.

This paper introduces the structure and working principles of the automotive electronic throttle control system. After analyzing the non-linear factor of the system, mathematical model of the system is built up. And the working principle of non-linear torque observer is described. Then incremental PID controller and non-linear torque compensator were designed and simulated in the matlab/simulink. From the result, we can see that the control precision of incremental PID controller is poor, and it also easily has an overshoot. However, PID controller based on non-linear torque observer has a better tracking performance. It can meet control requirements very well.

The system can display the maximum, minimum, average, duty cycle, frequency and frequency multiplication or not of the high level and low level in real-time. And the frequency range of the measured signal is between 1Hz and 8KHz. Compare measured data with standard data, determine automatically whether it is reasonable and save them according to their classification. The test personnel are avoided to test continuously and monitor in real-time, offsetting the lack of single function of the display of test platform and running short of features of analysis and judgment.

Fluctuations in the global economy in the early 21st century due to financial collapses and unexpected circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic have greatly affected the competitiveness and viability of many industries around the world including Automotive and Automotive Parts in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Thailand. Effective management strategies including total quality management (TQM) and supply chain management (SCM) will guide the better performance of businesses. Additionally, the previous published studies in Automotive and Automotive Parts industries in these issues are limited. Hence, the objective of this study is to investigate the causal relationships model which focuses on total quality management (TQM), supply chain management (SCM) and organizational performance (OP) of the Automotive and Automotive Parts Industries in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Data were collected from 212 companies operating in the Automotive and Automotive Parts Industries in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The data comprised answers from a self-administered survey, and these were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the structural equations modeling (SEM) method. The findings suggest that together, TQM and SCM generate positive outcomes for organizational performance. Furthermore, supply chain management mediates the relationship between TQM and organizational performance. Hence, effective total quality management and supply chain management can be integrated into businesses’ management and operational strategies to improve the financial and non-financial aspects of their performance.
