Abstract:
Based on studies about cultural capital (BOURDIEU, 1979, 1998, 2007) and the relationship between family and school (ALMEIDA; NOGUEIRA, 2002; DUBET, 1997; NOGUEIRA; ROMANELLI; ZAGO, 2000; SINGLY, 1997 and 2007), this article presents the results of the research done between 2005 and 2008 about the nature of the flux of demand in a private institution in the city of São Paulo by a significant number of Japanese descendent between the 50s and 90s. In cross-checking the contexts, the criteria that guided the choice of the school pursued; moreover, this placed the families researched in the set of changes that occurred in the Brazilian society, inside which the nikkey community built their ways of integration and social mobility.

Abstract:
In the last two decades, the problem of violence in the family sphere in particular and in intimate relationships in general has been on the agenda for Portuguese governmental and nongovernmental agencies. Several initiatives and campaigns have been launched, which are aimed at reducing occurrence of this violence, particularly among teenagers. This present study aims to assess the evolution in adolescents' attitudes and behaviors concerning intimate partner violence. We collected data from a sample of adolescents (n = 913) to compare with corresponding data collected 7 years ago by Neves and Nogueira (2010) in a sample that had identical sociodemographic characteristics (n = 899). Both cohorts resided in the same areas in the northeastern region of Portugal. The instruments used were the Scale of Beliefs about Marital Violence (ECVC) and the Marital Violence Inventory (IVC; Neves & Nogueira, 2010). The results indicate that although respondents tend to reject traditional beliefs on marital violence more now than in the past, especially male and older respondents, the percentage of dating violence reports has not decreased. Among girls, there was even an increase in perpetration of emotional and mild physical violence. We discuss possible reasons for this discrepancy between the evolution of attitudes and behaviors and make suggestions for improvement in the actions implemented among teenagers to increase their effectiveness.

Abstract:
Citrus latifolia Tanaka (Rutaceae) is a perennial and spinescent citrus tree. Knowledge of the mite fauna on this plant in São Paulo State is limited. The aim of this work was to survey the mite species from a C. latifolia orchard in Artur Nogueira municipality, central-eastern region of São Paulo state. Leaf samples were collected every two weeks from November 2011 to April 2012 for examination under a stereomicroscope. Mites found were mounted on microscopic slides in Hoyer's medium. In total, 147 mites representing 21 species of 11 families were found. Panonychus citri (McGregor, 1916) (Tetranychidae) was the dominant phytophagous species, accounting for about 20% of all mites. The predatory mite family Phytoseiidae was the most diverse, comprising nine species. Brevipalpus yothersi Baker, 1949 and P. citri are reported for the first time in C. latifolia in Brazil.

Abstract:
A comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of the Terebellidae and related families was undertaken. Type material of all genera of Terebellinae was examined, together with representatives of nearly all genera of remaining Terebellidae subfamilies, and representatives of the families that have been traditionally regarded as being closely related, comprising the Terebelliformia. In total, 85 species were coded using 118 subjects (‘characters’) and 286 subject–predicate relations (‘states’). The results indicate: (1) the paraphyly of Terebellidae by the placements of Trichobranchidae, Ampharetidae, Alvinellidae and Pectinariidae within that clade; (2) the occurrences of Thelepodinae as separate clades, consistent with groups ‘A’ and ‘B’ recognised by Nogueira et al. (2010a); and (3) the monophyly of Polycirrinae and Terebellinae. The previously considered subfamilies of Terebellidae are raised to familial level and a new family is described. Revised definitions are provided for: Terebelliformia, Polycirridae, stat. nov., Telothelepodidae, fam. nov., Terebellidae emend., and Thelepodidae, stat. nov., along with a discussion of character evolution in the Terebellidae.

Nogueira, Patrícia. "Space On and Off Screen: The Détournement of Documentary into Video Installation." Disegno 6, no. 1 (2022): 104–17. http://dx.doi.org/10.21096/disegno_2022_1pn.

Full text
Abstract:
This essay proposes the détournement of the documentary film Displacement (Nogueira 2021) into a video installation, as a process to subvert the sequential documentary account of reality, as well as to interrogate space and movement on and off screen. Instead of editing and presenting the images and sounds in a continuous f low, the setup of the installation fragments the narrative and replaces the sequential format by a projected, sculptural, four-channel experience, composed of a prologue and three acts: (1) the family’s daily activities; (2) disruption of the quotidian routines; (3) the family’s displacement. While the installation projects the prologue onto clear white translucent plastic (like the ones used to cover construction sites) at the entrance to the darkroom, the three acts are projected on the three walls surrounding the audience in the darkroom. The result is an intersection of images and sounds: a juxtaposition and intertextuality of the content to offer an immersive view into family life. It also raises the question of embodiment in video installations, especially the notions of spectatorship, authorship, reality, performance, and, most importantly, what the boundaries of the screen are in the expanded practice of documentary film.

Abstract:
The genus Hylodes Fitzinger currently comprises 26 species of Torrent frogs, organized into four morphological taxonomic groups (Heyer 1982; Frost 2020): Hylodes glaber, H. lateristrigatus, H. mertensi, and H. nasus groups. Hylodes lateristrigatus is the most speciose group, comprising today 20 known species (Frost 2020). Nested in this group, a clade has been recovered based on molecular evidence, gathering the only four Hylodes species that are known to have males with nuptial thumb tubercles (de Sá et al. 2015; Malagoli et al. 2017). This well-supported clade includes H. phyllodes Heyer & Cocroft, Hylodes fredi Canedo & Pombal, H. pipilans Canedo & Pombal, and H. caete Malagoli, de Sá, Canedo & Haddad. Among these four Torrent frogs, tadpoles are unknown only for the most recently described H. caete (see tadpole descriptions in Heyer et al. 1990; Laia et al. 2010; Nogueira-Costa et al. 2019). With important taxonomic and conservation implications for the family Hylodidae (Laia & Rocha 2012), we describe here the tadpole of Hylodes caete, a species endemic to the crests and slopes of Serra do Mar, State of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil (Malagoli et al. 2017). The present description is particularly important because, in its type-locality, H. caete occurs in sympatry and syntopy with H. phyllodes (Malagoli et al. 2017).

Abstract:
Background:Inflammatory back pain (IBP) is an important entry criterion for identifying patients with axial spondyloarthritis. Due to the very frequent prevalence of chronic non-inflammatory back pain (CBP), IBP is difficult to differentiate and recognize in many clinical practices. CBP is a frequent diagnosis in populations with low socioeconomic status. Objectives:To investigate whether IBP ASAS definition help discriminate from CBP in a low-income population. Methods:A total of 202 consecutive individuals were directly interviewed in Fortaleza/Brazil, for the prevalence of IBP (ASAS definition), monthly family income (US$), school education [>/≤ 8 school-years(SY)], and smoking habit (present/absent). People from all social levels were included. Results:Mean age was 38.9±12.9 years, 100 (49.5%) were male and 36 (17.8%) were smokers; 135 (66.8%) declared less than 730US$ family earnings per month and 71 (35.1%) had less than 8 SY. Although 122 (60.3%) declared lumbar pain, in comparison, 29 (14.3%), 22 (10.9%) and 59 (29.2%) fulfilled ASAS, Berlin, and Calin’s IBP criteria, respectively. There were 39 (58.02%) vs. 83 (61.5%) with vs. without CBP and 9 (13.4%) vs. 20 (14.8%) fulfilling vs. not fulfilling the ASAS IBP definition among those with more or less than 730US$ earnings (P>0.05), respectively. Conclusion:This is the first report on the prevalence of IBP in a very low-income population. Over one-third had less than 8SY, revealing very low literacy. Smoking prevalence was also low if compared to 28% smoking prevalence WHO estimates across Europe*. These IBP prevalence data are similar to those reported in wealthier populations, living in higher latitude. Data suggest that ASAS IBP definition may be used to discriminate patients with IBP from those with CBP, regardless of income and literacy.References:This is the first report on the prevalence of IBP in a very low-income population. Abstract:
The process of the school inclusion disabilities students’ cannot be broadly understood when the family is disregarded. The objective of this study was to characterize the needs of relatives of students who presented some kind of disability, in the schooling process of the regular education system in the city of Dourados/MS, and reflect upon rapprochement possibilities of school and family, based on such characterization. Survey research was developed through interviews, applied individually to 59 families of students with disabilities enrolled in four municipal schools. The most evident need expressed by family members was of receiving information. Few relatives affirmed they were able to rely on the contribution of other, non-relative caretakers and revealed high concern related to the future of the child with disabilities, as well as to their health. Frustration and anxiety (and also marital problems) were also revealed when the child with disabilities is not able to perform everyday tasks. On the other hand, the study revealed that family members have potential, such as making use of adaptation strategies, acceptance and positive perceptions regarding the disability. Most of the families have shown that they are satisfied with the school professionals and have expressed a desire to contribute to the better development of their children. With the presented profile, it is possible for school professionals to plan actions aimed at addressing such needs to some extent, as well as to enhance the present strengths, walking towards the empowerment of these families. Abstract:
IntroductionScientific disciplines recognize that pregnancy not only refers to the biological dimension. It also constitutes a social category, since sociocultural matrices have implications on what is conceived as the state of gestation (Noguera & Rodríguez, 2008). In this sense, cultures develop protocols to guide the actions of pregnant women and their loved ones regarding self-care during pregnancy in order to contribute to the well-being of mother and child (Carmona, Hurtado and Marín 2007). In this context, the belief category becomes relevant as a form of understanding the ways in which we appropriate reality and intervene it (Peirce, 1903).ObjectivesTo analyze the beliefs that a group of pregnant women belonging to a population group from Montería (Córdoba, Colombia) have about taking care of themselves.MethodsApproach: qualitative. The sample was defined by saturation, for a total of 15 pregnant women affiliated to the Mocarí Hospital in the city of Montería, Córdoba. Instrument: semi-structured open interview; content analysis technique through AtlasTi. Emerging categories: a) care during pregnancy; b) relationships with others.ResultsMain belief: Pregnant women need to take care of themselves physically and psychologically, for which it is necessary to have parents, siblings and partner’s support. Care is based on healthy nutrition, physical activity and mental health prevention. It is assumed that self-care is important for the well-being of mother and child. The importance of the family support networks’ participation is also recognized.Image:ConclusionsAccording to the approaches stated/developed by Peirce (1903), beliefs have implications on the way we behave and intervene in reality. Mental habits function as a link between belief and concrete action. For this research, the beliefs that arise from the sociocultural matrices of the pregnant women are evidenced in their concrete actions.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared

Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract The study is of an empirical nature, with ethnographic inspiration and it intended to analyze the trajectories of nine "explicators", better saying, teachers who teach in their own residences, in dining rooms, balconies and yards, for classes with students from pre-school to primary school. Three core questions composed the central axis of the study: a) who were the "explicators"? b) how were their processes of socialization in teaching and, later, in home teaching? and c) how they acted in their work environment? In the beginning of the study, one made a revision of the works in the History of Teaching, with the intention to point it out as such and, therefore, define it as a study of a kind of teaching. After that, the research presented, rich in details, the main data gathered from the interviews, from the observations and from the half-structuralized interviews – all these, methodological instruments concerning fieldwork. The processes of socialization of the nine teachers, initially in the school direction, and, later, in the direction of the work as explicators, were analyzed in the light of the concepts of habitus and strategy elaborated by Pierre Bourdieu and interpreted in the research by Nogueira, Lelis and Perrenoud. The results suggest that, within the material conditions of the nine explicators, teaching was a viable path for their professional aspirations, while being an explicator meant, for them, the ideal practical conditions, since they could earn money without tax discounting and, mainly, the possibility to work and to be able to manage their homes and to take care of their children. In relation to the third question of the research, seven thematic axes were forged from the deriving data from the empirics. They are the following: the didactic strategies used by the explicators; the routines created for them to manage the daily demands of the students; the resources set for them in order to take care of the requests deriving from the plurality of their teaching; their relationship with the families, schools and students; the vision that each one of them had about school, family and student; the differences that marked the success of their interventions together with the students when compared to the schools and, finally, their dreams and desires as women and teachers – all pointing to the profile of teaching and to the singularity of experiences lived by the individual histories of nine women. One should point out that the study was in condition to detect a certain exhaustion of the possibilities concerning the fact that the families could not follow the demand of tasks proposed for the students by the schools. Keywords: history of teaching, teachers' practices, teaching, ways of teaching, explicators.

Abstract:
Abstract The floristic-taxonomic survey of Clusiaceae is presented as part of the project “Flora of Ceará: knowing to conserve”. The study was based on the analysis of specimens deposited in national and international herbaria and observations of natural populations during field expeditions carried out from February, 2019 to March, 2020. The family is represented in Ceará by eight species distributed in four genera: Clusia, Garcinia, Symphonia and Tovomita. Clusia was the most representative with five species: C. ibiapabensis, C. melchiorii, C. nemorosa, C. nogueirae and C. panapanari. The other genera are represented by one species each: Garcinia gardneriana, Symphonia globulifera and Tovomita mangle. The species preferentially occur in humid environments such as Dense Ombrophilous Forest and near watercourses. Clusia ibiapabensis and C. nogueirae are endemic to Ceará, and C. melchiorii and S. globulifera are new records for the state. Only Clusia nemorosa and C. panapanari were recorded in conservations units. Identification keys, descriptions, taxonomic relationships, illustrations, and comments on the geographical distribution and phenology of the species are presented.
