Abstract:
Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900) was born in the village of Röcken, in Prussian Saxony, the son and grandson of Lutheran ministers. He studied theology and classical philosophy at the University of Bonn, but in 1865 he gave up theology and went to Leipzig. Then he discovered the composer Richard Wagner and the philosophers Schopenhauer and F. A. Lange (author of History of Materialism and Critique of its Present Significance, 1866). He won a prize for an essay on Diogenes Laertius, the biographer of ancient Greek philosophers, and was appointed associate professor of classical philology at Basel, when he was only twenty-four. He became a full professor the following year. His principle writings between then and 1879, when illness made him resign from the university, were The Birth of Tragedy (1872) and Human, All Too Human (1878). After his resignation his principal writings were Daybreak (1881), The Gay Science (1882), Thus Spoke Zarathustra (Parts 1 and 2 published 1883, Part 3 published 1884, Part 4 issued privately 1885, published 1892), Beyond Good and Evil (1886), On the Genealogy of Morals (1887), The Wagner Case (1888) and Twilight of the Idols (1888). Nietzsche became insane in January 1889, and vegetated until his death in 1900. His madness was probably tertiary syphilis, which he may have contracted while ministering to sick soldiers in 1870 as a medical orderly in the Franco-Prussian war.

: O texto Intitulado “A Antropologia em Friedrich Nietzsche”, se propõe abordar o conceito de “Super-homem” que, junto com o de “Vontade de Poder”, “Niilismo”, “Eterno Retorno do Mesmo” e o de “Justiça,” constitui os termos fundamentais da metafísica de Nietzsche, segundo Martin Heidegger. Acredita-se, portanto, que é preciso ter em conta todo o contexto metafísico no qual são colocados ditos termos para entendê-los. Ao fazer uma abordagem antropológica a partir da filosofia de Nietzsche, não pensamos estar cometendo uma heresia em relação a Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), toda vez que, ademais de acreditar que o pensamento nietzschiano permite uma abordagem antropológica, já contamos com o exemplo de Max Scheler (1874-1928), o qual, na sua obra “Mensch und Geschichte”, expressava-se assim a respeito do “Super-homem”.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was born on 5 October 1844 and died on 25 August, 1900. From 1889 until his death eleven years later he was physically and mentally ill and incapable of work. It is almost certain that he died of the brain disease known as G.P.I., General Paralysis of the Insane, or general paresis. In the nineteenth century and well into our own era, this was a not uncommon tertiary manifestation of a syphilitic infection which might originally have been contracted many years before. Because the initial stages of syphilis can now be treated with antibiotics, general paresis is rarely seen today.

Le philosophe allemand Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) a-t-il inventé la méthode des scénarios ? C’est une thèse que propose ici Philippe Granarolo, professeur agrégé de philosophie et auteur de plusieurs ouvrages sur ce penseur, parmi lesquels Nietzsche. Cinq scénarios pour le futur 1 . Son article, qui met en scène les scénarios successifs imaginés par Nietzsche au cours la période 1873-1881, est troublant à plus d’un titre : L’itinéraire prospectif accompli par Nietzsche en sept ans (allant de scénarios créatifs du type New Age aux scénarios « techno-triomphalistes » puis aux scénarios apocalyptiques) ressemble fort à celui qui a été emprunté par le monde de la prospective depuis 40 ans et qui nous a menés des visions enthousiastes d’un Alvin Toffler, aux théories de l’effondrement déployées par les collapsologues actuels. La question qui taraudait Nietzsche à la fin du XIX e siècle — l’avenir de la civilisation occidentale — résonne fortement avec nos interrogations contemporaines. Sur le plan de la méthode, Nietzsche utilise déjà des concepts qui sont apparus bien plus tard dans la littérature prospective, comme celui de « bifurcation » (il parle, lui, de « croisée des chemins »). Les travaux portant sur les rapports entre Nietzsche et la tragédie ou entre Nietzsche et l'art sont nombreux. Par contre le rapport de Nietzsche au théâtre a beaucoup moins été envisagé. Pourtant il est surprenant de comparer la valorisation du théâtre dans la Naissance de la tragédie, et la critique acerbe du théâtre dans le Cas Wagner. Nous nous interrogeons sur ce changement de position de Nietzsche, sur le sens qu'il faut accorder à cette critique devenue violente à l'encontre du théâtre

Ce travail se propose, à la croisée de champs interdisciplinaires et d'une lecture intertextuelle, de dégager une théâtralité qu'une généalogie de l'acteur révélera à travers une variété de figures. Sa définition hors du théâtre en fera ressortir une caractéristique essentielle : une altérité radicale. Sa présence multiforme sera interrogée à différents niveaux. Du théâtre pour commencer où elle paraît évidente, la théâtralité ne se présenterait-elle pas plus fondamentalement comme un instinct ou un jeu, révélateurs d'une vérité originaire ? La difficile articulation de la création et de l'imitation rendra compte de la délicate question de l'originalité : comment devient-on inimitable ? Question pour l'écrivain, elle se posera également pour l'acteur. Si l'écart entre le théâtral et le vécu est respecté dans le jeu des acteurs du chœur de la tragédie grecque, y compris à sa naissance, en revanche, cet écart sera violemment critiqué par une tradition que Platon inaugure et que perpétueront les Pères de l'Eglise et Rousseau même s'ils sont portés par d'autres motifs et schémas de pensée. Il reste, qu'au fond, ce qui les rend irascibles devant cette puissance inquiétante, ce n'est rien d'autre que le côté féminin de l'acteur. C'est ce danger que Nietzsche aura perçu et pensé comme une hystérisation et un histrionisme : un phénomène envahissant dans tous les domaines jusqu'à les parasiter : de la musique wagnérienne à l'histoire, des mythes à la culture et à la presse où les Juifs vont se distinguer. Défiance et admiration pour ce peuple de comédiens de l'errance, et du Salut quand ils se font prêtres chrétiens, Nietzsche retrouvera cette ambivalence à l'égard de l'énigmatique comédienne qu'est la femme. De cette inimitable théâtralité et de cette inaltérable altérité que représentent les Juifs et les femmes, Nietzsche n'aura pu s'approcher qu'en assistant, derrière ses propres masques, à sa propre tragédie. At the crossroads of interdisciplinary fields of an intertextuel reading, this thesis intends to bring about the theatrality that a genealogy of the actor may reveal through a variety of figures. Its definition beyond the bonds of theater, shows an essential characte : a radical alterity. Its many-sided presence is to be defined at different levels. To start with, from the theater viewpoint, could theatrality not present itself more fundamentally as pure instinct, or acting, revealing some innate truth ?.

A partir du couplage des categories issues de la pensee de gilbert simondon concernant la technique et la vie et du concept fondamental du nietzscheisme de volonte de puissance, cette these veut presenter, mettre en tableau et en scene, l'individuation du vivant en tant que mode et principe d'une biophilosophie qui etablit clairement sa dette envers une pensee du theatre et de l'espace. Il s'agit alors, en etudiant successivement theatre des matieres, theatre des geneses et theatre des vivants, de conduire un questionnement de la vie en tant que telle, comme plan d'immanence, et du vivant-homme, comme "personnage conceptuel"; ce questionnement s'articulant selon un double point de vue : ontobiologique (etre et vie) et ontogenetique (etre et devenir). Un theatre du vivant s'instaure ainsi qui, de tableau de la vie en tableau de la vie, definit topologiquement et genealogiquement les conditions d'elaboration d'un materialisme genetique, ente point par point sur les philosophies de la vie de nietzsche et simondon. C'est essentiellement la pensee de gilles deleuze qui, fondant puis etayant le lien, permet, tout au long de cette these, de valider philosophiquement la "ligne de fuite" conceptuelle combinant approche simondonienne du reel et vision nietzscheenne du monde.

Un grand nombre de dramaturges français aussi différents qu’André Gide, Antonin Artaud,Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, Henry de Montherlant et Jean Vauthier se sont emparés de la pensée de Nietzsche pour la représenter sur scène. Si des études ont été menées sur les liens entre la pensée de Nietzsche et les écrivains français, aucune n’a abordé de manière synthétique la présence de la pensée de Nietzsche dans le théâtre français du XXème siècle et notamment dans l’élaboration même du texte théâtral. Pourtant, cette pensée tragique qui part du Dionysos de La Naissance de la tragédie jusqu’à Ecce homo, ne cesse d’entretenir des liens consubstantiels avec le genre même du théâtre. La conception esthétique du dionysiaque présente des affinités avec l’art dramatique et semble prédisposée à se retrouver transposée et incarnée sur une scène de théâtre. La réflexion de Nietzsche sur la physiologie de l’art a pu entraîner un renouvellement de l’écriture des pratiques et écritures dramaturgiques traditionnelles au profit d’un théâtre vivant, incarné, usant de toutes les ressources dela scène. Paradoxalement, le théâtre métaphysique d’inspiration nietzschéenne va de pair avec une affirmation du corps et des passions. Á l’opposé d’un théâtre d’idées ou à thèse, certaines des oeuvres étudiées montrent que le théâtre métaphysique nietzschéen est avant tout un théâtre du corps, à la recherche d’une fusion entre l’art et la vie, le spectacle et le réel, au rebours de la conception mimétique aristotélicienne
Many different french playwrights such as André Gide, Antonin Artaud, Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, Henry de Montherlant and Jean Vauthier took up Nietzsche's thoughts to impicture it onstage. If studies were made on the links between Nietzsche's thought process and french writer, noneadress the question of Nietzsche's thought in the XXth century french theatre synthetically. None theless, this tragic thought starting in «La Naissance de la tragedie» 's Dionysos and ending with «Eccehomo» keeps maintaining consubstantial links with the theatre genre. Dionisyan esthetical conceptionshows affinities with dramatic art and seems predisposed to be transposed and embodied on stage.Nietzsche's thought on art's physiology has caused a renewal of traditionnal writing for theatre for thebenefit of a living theatre, incarnated, using all the stage's ressources. Paradoxically, this nietzschean metaphysical theatre goes with assertion of body and passions. In contrast with « theatre of ideas »,some of the studied works show that Nietzsche's metaphysical theatre is above all an embodied theatre, seeking a fusion between art and life, show and reality, against Aristote’s Poetics

Contre sa perversion, dans notre culture de la dette et de la culpabilité, ils tentent d'en retrouver l'expression la plus originaire et découvrent la primauté du sacre sur les dieux et du tragique sur la tragédie. Remonter à la source pharmaceutique des choses, sous le théâtre du monde, du moi et du corps, suppose une stratégie offensive et protectrice (ironie nietzschéenne, humour d’Artaud), mais aussi le risque de devenir la victime de la violence réveillée. Étranges contemporains d'un monde en crise, Nietzsche et Mallarmé ne se sont jamais rencontrés, pas même lus, alors qu'ils en auraient eu, semble-t-il, maintes fois l'occasion. Néanmoins, poète français et philosophe-poète allemand se rencontrent de façon inédite autour de la métaphore, pierre de touche d'une réflexion fondamentale sur le langage et levier d'une pensée axiomatique dont Nietzsche et Mallarmé sont peut-être les hérauts les plus emblématiques, chacun à leur façon. De fait, le phénomène métaphorique engage des aspects essentiels du rapport de l'homme au monde, qui est fondamentalement un rapport fictionnel, méta-phorique. Instrument d'une pensée du détour, l'écriture métaphorique s'inscrit au cœur d'une réflexion polémique sur la représentation et la construction d'idoles de toute sorte : Dieu, la vérité, l'âme, la volonté – mais aussi Hélène, Wagner, la gloire, l'or, la constellation, et même : la poésie. Autant d'idoles dont l'heure crépusculaire a sonné, autant de manifestations du " propre " dont est venu le temps pour la métaphore de se délester, pour voler enfin de ses propres ailes. Car la métaphore vole, pour Nietzsche et Mallarmé, elle danse, elle balbutie, frémit et s'évanouit. Son chant s'élève en même temps que la trace de son existence, qui déjà n'est plus là – à supposer qu'elle ait jamais eu lieu. Elle échappe, comme le réel, ce cruel, ce " dieu inconnu " qui est là, toujours latent, mais insaisissable par le langage. Elle cristallise tous les regrets liés à ce " mal d'être deux " (L'Après-midi d'un Faune), à cette division maudite inaugurée par la parole. Mais n'est-elle pas aussi à elle-même, cette métaphore, sa propre rémunération ?
Strange contemporaries in a world of crisis, Nietzsche and Mallarmé had never met and had never read each other's works though it seems they may have had many occasions. Nevertheless, the French poet and the German philosopher-poet do meet in an unique way on the theme of the metaphor, a touchstone of a fundamental reflection on the language and the control lever of an axiomatic thought for which Nietzsche and Mallarmé are, maybe, the most symbolic heralds, each in their own way. For the metaphoric phenomenon binds the essential aspects of the relationship of the human being to the world, which is fundamentally a fictional and a meta-phoric relationship. A deviating thought instrument, the metaphoric writing reaches the heart of a polemical reflection on the representation and the construction of various idols : God, Truth, Soul, Will – but also Helen, Wagner, Glory, Gold, Constellation, and even: Poetry. So many idols whose crepuscular hour has sounded, so many aspects of the "Proper" whose time has come for the metaphor to off-load, to fly away on its own. Not only does the metaphor fly, for Nietzsche and Mallarmé, but it also dances, stammers, shivers and faints. Its song rises at the same time as the trail of its existence, which is not there any more – supposing that it ever took place. It escapes, like reality, this cruel, this "unknown god" who is there, always latent, but out of reach of the language. It cements all the regrets linked to the "misfortune of being two" (L'Après-midi d'un Faune), in this cursed separation originated by language. But isn't the metaphor its own remuneration?

Cette étude de l'œuvre de Mallarmé est centrée sur le problème de la lecture. La notion de lecture consiste d'ordinaire à déchiffrer un texte pour prendre connaissance de son contenu ou de son sens. Nous voulons questionner cette notion en faisant basculer l'action du déchiffrement vers l'acte de produire du savoir et de la signification, c'est-à-dire en étudiant l'activité critique interne au texte. Notre étude est une lecture de Mallarmé qui excède le commentaire afin de montrer la mise en scène du texte. Ainsi essaierons-nous, à partir de la crise célèbre qui obligea le jeune Mallarmé à remettre en cause tout l'héritage poétique, et jusqu'au fameux rêve du Livre, d'étudier la théâtralité de l'écriture et de la lecture dans et par l'œuvre de Mallarmé. La critique de la lecture chez Mallarmé revendique la lecture critique pour toute œuvre qui rend "meilleur" son lecteur, ou "musicien" son auditeur (avec "cette musique [qui] tient l'auditeur pour intelligent et même pour musicien […] je deviens meilleur […]. Meilleur musicien, aussi, et meilleur auditeur" dit Nietzsche), puisqu'une œuvre ne se donne à exécuter ni mieux ni différemment

We seek to question this notion by swinging the act of deciphering in favour of the act of producing knowledge and significance, that is, by studying the text's inner critical activity. Our study is a reading of Mallarmé's work which goes beyond the mere commentary in order to uncover the "mise en scène" of the text. Thus, from the well-known crisis that forced young Mallarmé to question the whole poetic inheritance, to the famous dream of the Book, we will endeavour to survey the theatricality of writing and reading within and by Mallarmé's work. The critique of reading in Mallarmé's work claims a critical reading for every work that makes the reader "better", or makes the listener a "musician" (with "this music [that] takes the listener for an intelligent person, for a musician […] I become a better man […] also a better musician, a better listener", says Nietzsche), since a piece of work is to be carried out no better nor differently

Abstract:
The primary aim of this psychobiography was to examine Friedrich Nietzsche’s life by utilizing Carl Rogers’ theory of the fully functioning person. Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900) has become an iconic figure in German philosophy and literature. Nietzsche’s criticism of western morality and culture led him to believe that humankind was not living to its highest potential and consequently Nietzsche sought after a life of self-becoming. Nietzsche’s philosophy has influenced various people such as Viktor Frankl, DH Lawrence, Michel Foucault and NP van Wyk Louw. Nietzsche was chosen as the research subject because of personal interest, his prominence as a philosopher, and because of his ambition to live a meaningful life. Psychobiographical research with the use of psychological theory allows for the exploration and description of the life of an individual. This significant area of research involving the application of psychological theory has in previous decades, however, been under-utilized, particularly in South Africa. But more recently, has it been receiving increasing support by researchers both internationally and in South Africa. Data collected on Friedrich Nietzsche’s life were drawn from several primary and secondary sources. A data collection and analysis grid was developed in order to collect data systematically, and to analyse the data according to the qualities of Carl Rogers’ theory. The study adds to the body of psychobiographical research. It also provides an empirical exploration of Carl Rogers’ theory of the fully functioning person. As the scope of the study was that of a master’s dissertation, future research, utilising semi-structured interviews with knowledgeable relatives, academics, psychologists, biographers, philosophers and historians on Nietzsche’s life, could extend this line of research. In conclusion, the current psychobiography suggests that Nietzsche lived a life filled with several personal crises. Despite these challenges, Nietzsche directed himself towards living as a fully functioning person. Nietzsche’s impetus towards self-becoming is also evident within his philosophical writings. Nietzsche was an extraordinary individual whose life, as described in the current psychobiography, corresponds closely to Rogers’ (1961) theory of a fully functioning person.
