Abstract:

Abstract:
Managing employees’ happiness and well-being as a business strategy offers positive outcomes for companies, as has been widely studied in the scientific literature. In the field of public relations, published studies address these benefits for individuals and collectively, both for the employees themselves (Pérez, 2020) and for the organisation for which they work, whether intangible or tangible (Castro-Martínez and Díaz-Morilla, 2020; Sidney et al., 2017). However, the function of promoting a good working environment is not always attended to in the workplace, nor is it always exclusive to a specific area (Bowen, 2008). In addition to a systematic documentary review, the Web of Science database is used for a bibliometric study and network mapping of the scientific literature, from which articles are extracted for analysis using different bibliographic searches. Based on the information obtained, VOSviewer software is used for the analysis of bibliometric networks by authorship, citation and co-occurrence of keywords in scientific publications. The number of articles published on the management of happiness and wellbeing in organisations as part of their public relations has increased significantly over the last decade, although there has been a notable change in this growth since 2021. According to the research, corporate social responsibility programmes are increasingly considering these aspects as part of their organisational strategy, and departments such as human resources are taking on a greater role in generating a good working environment. This study provides an overview of the international production of scientific publications on the subject of happiness management and organisational well-being from the point of view of public relations. It shows the evolution of scientific activity in terms of the number of works published by area of knowledge and the current trends in terms of authorship, subject matter and repercussion in the scientific field.

Abstract:
- Water will be a basic problem in the future of the world. At the moment in Italy the main problem lies in water reserve reductions facing a growing demand, while for drinkable water more and more administrator authorities are facing a budget deficit. The causes of this national and local situation are the administrative monopoly and the absence of planning and coordination policies, that would rationalize water use without rationing it, starting from an awareness of the costs of different involved variables. The economic quality of spring and consumption water, the oldness of the waterworks and pipe networks, the extreme fragmentation of waterworks (often of minimal dimension), their territorial localisation, the absence of a common method of charges, the scanty use of analysis of management, are some of the causes of a unique and surprising variability of costs, proceeds and tariffs. This paper analyzes the generation and the structure of the costs of drinkable water in an area representative of many national characteristics on the environmental, physic and socio-economic level. The quest for more efficient forms of management and for a more transparent determination of the tariffs has been carried on through the use of custom indexes of productivity and of production. These indexes summarise the existence of scale economies, of pipe network related diseconomies, and of economies of localisation and density of the consumers. The paper presents a synthesis of the observations gathered from about two hundred waterworks subdivided by owner and entrepreneurial typologies

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The identification of subject-specific traits extracted from patterns of brain activity still represents an important challenge. The need to detect distinctive brain features, which is relevant for biometric and brain computer interface systems, has been also emphasized in monitoring the effect of clinical treatments and in evaluating the progression of brain disorders. Graph theory and network science tools have revealed fundamental mechanisms of functional brain organization in resting-state M/EEG analysis. Nevertheless, it is still not clearly understood how several methodological aspects may bias the topology of the reconstructed functional networks. In this context, the literature shows inconsistency in the chosen length of the selected epochs, impeding a meaningful comparison between results from different studies. In this study we propose an approach which aims to investigate the existence of a distinctive functional core (sub-network) using an unbiased reconstruction of network topology. Brain signals from a public and freely available EEG dataset were analyzed using a phase synchronization based measure, minimum spanning tree and k-core decomposition. The analysis was performed for each classical brain rhythm separately. Furthermore, we aim to provide a network approach insensitive to the effects that epoch length has on functional connectivity (FC) and network reconstruction. Two different measures, the phase lag index (PLI) and the Amplitude Envelope Correlation (AEC), were applied to EEG resting-state recordings for a group of eighteen healthy volunteers. Weighted clustering coefficient (CCw), weighted characteristic path length (Lw) and minimum spanning tree (MST) parameters were computed to evaluate the network topology. The analysis was performed on both scalp and source-space data. Results about distinctive functional core, show highest classification rates from k-core decomposition in gamma (EER=0.130, AUC=0.943) and high beta (EER=0.172, AUC=0.905) frequency bands. Results from scalp analysis concerning the influence of epoch length, show a decrease in both mean PLI and AEC values with an increase in epoch length, with a tendency to stabilize at a length of 12 seconds for PLI and 6 seconds for AEC. Moreover, CCw and Lw show very similar behaviour, with metrics based on AEC more reliable in terms of stability. In general, MST parameters stabilize at short epoch lengths, particularly for MSTs based on PLI (1-6 seconds versus 4-8 seconds for AEC). At the source-level the results were even more reliable, with stability already at 1 second duration for PLI-based MSTs. Our results confirm that EEG analysis may represent an effective tool to identify subject-specific characteristics that may be of great impact for several bioengineering applications. Regarding epoch length, the present work suggests that both PLI and AEC depend on epoch length and that this has an impact on the reconstructed network topology, particularly at the scalp-level. Source-level MST topology is less sensitive to differences in epoch length, therefore enabling the comparison of brain network topology between different studies.

Abstract:
There are many definitions of integration developed by scholars of migration. They agree – especially in recent years, due to the significant changes in migration – that these processes are open to multiple outcomes, largely related political, social, economic and cultural factors. These different factors represent the different dimension which you can look to the integration; a term that appears as a multidimensional concept, as well as dynamic, and can be declined at different levels of analysis. The relational level (meso-level) represents the point of convergence between macro and micro factors of integration. In fact, the urban integration processes often depend on the effectiveness of their own social networks. This paper presents the results of a survey in the Mercato neighborhood (Naples). The aim is to analyze the integration of Kabardians community, through Social Network Analysis methods.

Abstract:
The present work reports a way of using Artificial Neural Networks for modeling and integrating the governing chemical kinetics differential equations of Jones’ reduced chemical mechanism for methane combustion. The chemical mechanism is applicable to both diffusion and premixed laminar flames. A feed-forward multi-layer neural network is incorporated as neural network architecture. In order to find sets of input-output data, for adapting the neural network’s synaptic weights in the training phase, a thermochemical analysis is embedded to find the chemical species mole fractions. An analysis of computational performance along with a comparison between the neural network approach and other conventional methods, used to represent the chemistry, are presented and the ability of neural networks for representing a non-linear chemical system is illustrated.

Abstract:
In the Target Set Selection (TSS) problem, we want to find the minimum set of individuals in a network to spread information across the entire network. This problem is NP-hard, so find good strategies to deal with it, even for a particular case, is something of interest. We introduce preprocessing rules that allow reducing the size of the input without losing the optimality of the solution when the input graph is a complex network. Such type of network has a set of topological properties that commonly occurs in graphs that model real systems. We present computational experiments with real-world complex networks and synthetic power law graphs. Our strategies do particularly well on graphs with power law degree distribution, such as several real-world complex networks. Such rules provide a notable reduction in the size of the problem and, consequently, gains in scalability.

Abstract:
The goal of this work is to analyze two of the most central activities in the life of a congressman: raising funds and voting bills. We investigate the Brazilian Congress to shed light on the relationships between the donations received by congressmen elected in 2014 and their voting behaviors during the year of 2015. We merged publicly available data obtained from the Brazilian House of Representatives and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in order to create a tripartite network containing campaign donors, elected congressmen, and legal bills. Using this data, we create two projected networks having congressmen as nodes and links given as follows: 1) congressmen who received donations from the same donors (donation network); and 2) congressmen who voted in accordance to each other on legal bills (voting network). After characterizing these networks, we propose three fundamental questions on the behavior of congressmen that could benefit from the methods and concepts provided by Network Science. Finally, we analyze the results and compare them to general domain knowledge.

Abstract:
Automated Condition Monitoring (ACM) has become a necessity for complex modern day systems. The advent and ever increasing popularity of Internet has given a new dimension to ACM. Many Internet Based Condition Monitoring (IBCM) solutions have since been implemented. There are many types of Industrial Networks that are used in the industry to implement ACM. The protocols and information sent through these networks are very different from one another. Sharing information between industrial networks and presenting it for consolidated monitoring can be a daunting task. This paper describes a novel way for extracting sensor information from different industrial networks into a single standard format using Extensible Markup Language (XML). Implementation of the solution with an Industrial Network, Controller Area Network (CAN), is also shown. The results demonstrate that by using this approach communication between automated systems and mechatronic devices will become more integrated, more efficient and less complex.

Abstract:
Studying the strength of ties in social networks allows to identify impact at micro-macro levels in the network, to analyze how distinct relationships play different roles, and so on. Indeed, the strength of ties has been investigated in many contexts with different goals. Here, we aim to address the problem of measuring ties strength in co-authorship social networks. Specifically, we present four case studies detailing problems with current metrics and propose a new one. Then, we build a co-authorship social network by using a real digital library and identify how the strength of ties relates to the quality of publication venues when measured by different topological properties. Our results show the best ranked venues have similar patterns of strength of co-authorship ties.

Abstract:
This paper describes a methodology for modeling social networks of formal communications among top authorities of the Brazilian Federal Government grounded on data available in the government official gazette (Diário Oficial da União). The text of a large number of official publications such as presidential decrees, ministerial orders and authority nominations was analyzed for identification of citations to organizations and persons. The co-occurrence of names of persons in such publications created a network of relations among such persons. An ego-network was built around the president Dilma Rousseff. Metrics of social network analysis were collected and analyzed in an exploratory fashion.

Abstract:
Understanding properties of deep neural networks is an important challenge in deep learning. Deep learning networks are among the most successful artificial intelligence technologies that is making impact in a variety of practical applications. However, many concerns were raised about `magical' power of these networks. It is disturbing that we are really lacking of understanding of the decision making process behind this technology. Therefore, a natural question is whether we can trust decisions that neural networks make. One way to address this issue is to define properties that we want a neural network to satisfy. Verifying whether a neural network fulfills these properties sheds light on the properties of the function that it represents. In this work, we take the verification approach. Our goal is to design a framework for analysis of properties of neural networks. We start by defining a set of interesting properties to analyze. Then we focus on Binarized Neural Networks that can be represented and analyzed using well-developed means of Boolean Satisfiability and Integer Linear Programming. One of our main results is an exact representation of a binarized neural network as a Boolean formula. We also discuss how we can take advantage of the structure of neural networks in the search procedure.

Abstract:
Aim of this paper is to evaluate the possibility of estimating the vehicle sideslip angle through a non-structured algorithm based on neural networks. Results reported are relevant to a numerical investigation of the network performance which can be regarded as preliminary stage for the application on a real vehicle. A numerical model is used to describe the vehicle dynamics and to generate the inputs for the neural network; with an appropriate set of manoeuvres for network training the non-structured algorithm provides reliable results when applied to a complete series of handling manoeuvres carried out with different tire-road friction coefficients.

Abstract:
Based on the network paradigm of complexity in the work, a systematic analysis of the dynamics of the largest stock markets in the world and cryptocurrency market has been carried out. According to the algorithms of the visibility graph and recurrence plot, the daily values of stock and crypto indices are converted into a networks and multiplex networks, the spectral and topological properties of which are sensitive to the critical and crisis phenomena of the studied complex systems. This work is the first to investigate the network properties of the crypto index CCI30 and the multiplex network of key cryptocurrencies. It is shown that some of the spectral and topological characteristics can serve as measures of the complexity of the stock and crypto market, and their specific behaviour in the pre-crisis period is used as indicators- precursors of critical phenomena.

Abstract:
This research utilizes Bayesian network to address a range of possible risks to the electrical power system and its interdependent networks (EIN) and offers possible options to mitigate the consequences of a disruption. The interdependent electrical infrastructure system in Washington, D.C. is used as a case study to quantify the resilience using the Bayesian network. Quantification of resilience is further analyzed based on different types of analysis such as forward propagation, backward propagation, sensitivity analysis, and information theory. The general insight drawn from these analyses indicate that reliability, backup power source, and resource restoration are the prime factors contributed towards enhancing the resilience of an interdependent electrical infrastructure system.

Abstract:
Social Network Analysis (SNA) is a promising yet underutilized tool in the international development field. SNA entails collecting and analyzing data to characterize and visualize social networks, where nodes represent network members and edges connecting nodes represent relationships or exchanges among them. SNA can help both researchers and practitioners understand the social, political, and economic relational dynamics at the heart of international development programming. It can inform program design, monitoring, and evaluation to answer questions related to where people get information; with whom goods and services are exchanged; who people value, trust, or respect; who has power and influence and who is excluded; and how these dynamics change over time. This brief advances the case for use of SNA in international development, outlines general approaches, and discusses two recently conducted case studies that illustrate its potential. It concludes with recommendations for how to increase SNA use in international development.

Abstract:
Cross country mobility (CCM) models terrain that has insufficient or unavailable infrastructure for crossing. This historically has been done with either hand-drawn and estimated maps or with raster-based terrain analysis, both of which have their own strengths and weaknesses. In this report the authors explore the possibility of using triangulated irregular networks (TINs) as a means of representing terrain characteristics used in CCM and discuss the possibilities of using such networks for routing capabilities in lieu of a traditional road-based network. The factors used to calculate CCM are modified from previous methods to capture a more accurate measurement of terrain characteristics. Using a TIN to store and represent CCM information achieves comparable results to raster cost analysis with the additional benefits of an integrated network useful for visualization and routing and a reduction in the number of related files. Additionally, TINs can in some cases more accurately show the contours of the landscape and reveal feature details or impediments that may be lost within a raster, thus improving the quality of CCM overlays.
