With the continuous development of computer and network techniques as well as the extensive application of modern means of communications, computer plays an important role in the social life of modern society. It is always associated with a large number of files which are frequently used. Although new computer hardware products provided by various makers help people to solve the problem that have arisen in carrying files, people still face some difficulties in carrying storage devices. This project will partly realize the basic function of the net hard disk. The net hard disk is used to store the files of users on the internet, making it easy for users to carry files and share files with their friends. The uses are able to download, upload, copy, move and delete files and create a new file folder. They can also create, freeze, delete and alter their account. People can retrieve the file they want from the hard disk without anytime at any place.

The purpose of this dissertation was to explore the potential use of net impulse and its characteristics in vertical jumping to monitor athletes' performance status and responses/adaptations to interventions. Five variables were proposed as net impulse characteristics: net impulse height and width, rate of force development, shape factor, and net impulse proportion. The following were then examined: 1) test-retest reliability of a new approach to identify net impulse in a force-time curve and of net impulse characteristics and criterion validity of the new approach; 2) effective measures of net impulse characteristics; 3) relationships between training-induced changes in its characteristics and force production ability.
The following are major findings of the dissertation. Rate of force development particularly for the countermovement jump require a large magnitude of change to overcome the variable's inherent variability. Shape factor and net impulse proportion for the static jump should be used with caution and requires further investigations. Alternative net impulse can be used interchangeably to criterion net impulse. Of the proposed net impulse characteristics, net impulse height and width and shape factor were found to contribute to countermovement jump height, whereas all the net impulse characteristics were found to contribute to static jump height. Of the characteristics found to contribute, relative net impulse height (net impulse height divided by system mass) appears to be an important characteristic to achieve a high jump height for the countermovement and static jumps and net impulse proportion for the static jump. A mechanism behind increased countermovement jump height may be an increased countermovement displacement as a result of increased force production ability. A mechanism behind increased static jump height is the increased proportion of the entire positive impulse occupied by net impulse (i.e. increased net impulse proportion).
The findings of this dissertation show the possibility of the use of the net impulse characteristics to monitor athletes' performance status and responses/adaptations to interventions. However, because this dissertation was the first to explore the potential use of the net impulse characteristics for athletes' performance monitoring, the existing knowledge is still preliminary and further research is required before practical recommendations are made.

Iris Murdoch es una escritora inglesa que tuve el diagnostico de la Enfermedad de Alzheimer (EA) confirmado sea por exámenes clínicos o por el diagnostico histológico post mortem. Por esta razón sus libros se tornaron una fuente de datos fiables para la investigación de los síntomas precoces de la EA detectables en la escritura. El presente trabajo de investigación demuestra que 12 años antes de que hubiera sido diagnosticada con la Enfermedad de Alzheimer, a través de pruebas clínicas, la autora inglesa de novelas Iris Murdoch ya presentaba alteraciones en su escritura, más precisamente en el uso de la puntuación. La alteración detectada sugiere que la autora a partir de los 64 años empieza a fragmentar sus textos, aplicando más signos de puntuación de pausas breves dentro de las oraciones, manteniendo en promedio sus tamaños. Este comportamiento en la escritura se mantiene hasta el final de la vida de la autora, independiente del tamaño de los libros escritos. En este estudio fueron analizados 24 libros de la autora, utilizando técnicas de lematización de las palabras para el tratamiento de los textos así como la técnica de representación de los resultados como una trayectoria en espacio de estados, que permitió acompañar la evolución de dos métricas a lo mismo tiempo y a lo largo de la vida de la autora, identificando alteraciones bruscas en la escritura.<br>Iris Murdoch is an English writer who had a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is confirmed by clinical examination or postmortem histologic diagnosis. For this reason his books became a source of reliable data for the investigation of the early symptoms of AD detectable in writing. The present research shows that 12 years before he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease through clinical trials of novels written by British author Iris Murdoch and unremarkable in their writing, more precisely in the use of punctuation. The detected alteration suggests that the author from the 64 years begins to fragment their texts, applying additional punctuation of short pauses within sentences, keeping their sizes on average. This behavior is kept writing to the end of life of the author, independent of the size of the books written. In this study were analyzed 24 books of the author, using techniques stemming of words to treat the texts as well as the technique of representing the results as a trajectory in state space, which allowed to accompany the evolution of two metrics the same time and over the life of the author, identifying sudden changes in writing.

<p>The students have been assigned a task from Consid, were they are supposed to develop a web based platform for handling the company’s consult CV:s. The key features of the system are to simplify the administration part at mission procurements towards customers and to match qualified consultants to certain missions.Consid is an international it-consult company and have about 1000 consults working for them. When Consid makes mission procurements towards a customer they have to manually match the best consult against a certain mission, this is both time consuming and complicated.The students started the project with big visions and thoughts about how the work would be performed and how the system would be developed. After the initial meetings and the closer it came to the beginning of programming it became clear that the expectations were too big. This is the biggest lesson learned during the project and something that has come to influence the rest of the development.The students have been compelled to learn a totally new way of structuring the code by the three tier architecture. They have also been able to get a deeper understanding of how system development is performed by companies.Before the project begun the students and the company made a requirement specification for the system. The goals for the system and early limitations were made. Along the project those goals and limitations have been changed.The report handles the work with the development and read up on problems and solutions. It ends with a discussion and is summarized so the reader gets a better picture of the system and the work around it.</p>

<p>Axel Spetz AB är ett anrikt företag som driver en järnhandel i Falköping. Företaget har tidigare använt sig av marknadsföring i lokaltidningen men insåg fördelen med att använda Internet som verktyg. Deras idé var en ”Blocket.se”-liknande funktion på deras hemsida som skulle göra det möjligt för dem att marknadsföra artiklar.</p><p>Formuleringen på deras behov och det som legat till grunden för detta projekt var: Hur tillverkar man en avancerad publiceringsfunktion som är lätt att använda?</p><p>Inledningsvis gjordes en teoretisk studie inom områdena databaser, SQL, .NET och Visual Studio. Valet föll så här eftersom det var områden jag ville lära mig mer om.</p><p>Under utvecklingsarbetet i ovan nämnda tekniker hölls en tät kontakt med representanter från företag för att de snabbt skulle kunna ge respons på arbetet. Projektet resulterade i två olika saker:</p><p>-En lösenordsskyddad administrationsdel där all administration såsom publicering av artiklar, hantering av artiklar och kategorier, intresseanmälningar, ändring av öppettider m.m. kan skötas på ett enkelt sätt.</p><p>-Företagets hemsida där besökare kan ta del av aktuella erbjudanden, bläddra bland artiklar, kontakta företaget, läsa företagsinformation, lämna intresseanmälningar på artiklar m.m.</p><p>All programmering har gjorts med slutanvändarna, dvs. anställda på företaget och besökare på hemsidan i åtanke. Ett antal felkontroller både färdiga och egentillverkade har använts för att se till att fel inte uppstår i arbetet med databasen. Istället för ”riktiga” felmeddelanden visas förklarande texter om vad som måste åtgärdas.</p><p>I projektets slutskede så lanserades Axel Spetz nya hemsida och den började direkt användas som ett verktyg i företagets marknadsföring. Jag anser att det är ett bra bevis på att projektet var lyckat.</p>

In this report I present a partial implementation of the mixnet protocol described by Khazaei, Moran and Wikström in "A Mix-Net From Any CCA2 Secure Cryptosystem" for use in electronic voting. The report goes into detail how the different components of the mix-net work and how the voting system works. The implementation is not complete, but is seen as a good start towards what could become a secure electronic voting system.

In this article, we study the school bus routing and scheduling problem with transfers arising in the field of nonperiodic public transportation systems. It deals with the transportation of pupils from home to their school in the morning taking the possibility that pupils may change buses into account. Allowing transfers has several consequences. On the one hand, it allows more flexibility in the bus network structure and can, therefore, help to reduce operating costs. On the other hand, transfers have an impact on the service level: the perceived service quality is lower due to the existence of transfers; however, at the same time, user ride times may be reduced and, thus, transfers may also have a positive impact on service quality. The main objective is the minimization of the total operating costs. We develop a heuristic solution framework to solve this problem and compare it with two solution concepts that do not consider transfers. The impact of transfers on the service level in terms of time loss (or user ride time) and the number of transfers is analyzed. Our results show that allowing transfers reduces total operating costs significantly while average and maximum user ride times are comparable to solutions without transfers. (authors' abstract)

Urban Education<br>Ph.D.<br>School safety is widely recognized as an ongoing problem in United States public schools. Guided by the New Right, the school safety problem has been framed as an issue of school crime, violence, and student misbehavior that is best mitigated by zero tolerance policies. This stance has emerged as an agenda that has proven disproportionately detrimental to poor urban students of color who have experienced unforeseen levels of punishment since the Gun Free Schools Act of 1994 endorsed zero tolerance. Despite mounting evidence that zero tolerance approaches to discipline do little to deter school crime and violence or make schools safe, little ground has been gained in interrupting the ideology, policies, practices, and discourses of the zero tolerance agenda.
The dissertation study theorizes and explores how ideology, cultural-politics, and discourse foster the tendency for policy creation and codification to legitimize the New Right's official knowledge of zero tolerance ideology and policy as a panacea for the school safety problem. To accomplish this, I conducted an ethnographic content analysis of codes of student conduct to examine the imbued ideologies, discourses, and policy changes that emerge from the cultural politics of managing school discipline over the last 15 years. Through this process, I lend empirical credence to the concepts of net-widening and net-deepening. With these guiding concepts, I push the field beyond the zero tolerance discourse on school safety and discipline to establish a generative alternative to understanding school discipline policies called the school discipline net framework.
The results of the study establish a precedent for thinking more deeply and creatively about the perils and possibilities of school discipline policies. Major findings include the identification of several school policy changes that make the discipline experience both increasingly likely and potentially more punitive for students. Finally, through substantiating the school discipline net as a framework for discoursing, researching, guiding policy creation, and recognizing and locating sites of agency, this work establishes that it is indeed possible to engage issues critical in the field in ways that can transfer into the highly politicized school policy context dominated by New Right ideologies and discourses.<br>Temple University--Theses

Different types of regulated grammars have been introduced in order to supplement shortcomings of context-free grammars in applications preserving their elegant mathematical properties. However, the rapid developments in present day industry, biology, and other areas challenge to deal with various tasks which need suitable tools for their modelling and investigation. We propose Petri net controlled grammars as models for representing and analyzing of metabolic pathways in living cells where Petri nets are responsible for the structure and communication of the pathways, and grammars represent biochemical processes. On the other hand, the control by Petri nets has also theoretical interest: it extends possibilities to introduce and investigate concurrent control mechanisms in formal language theory. The thesis introduces various variants of Petri net controlled grammars using different types of Petri nets and investigates their mathematical properties such as computational power and closure properties.<br>Los diferentes tipos de gramáticas con reescritura regulada han sido introducidas para complementar las deficiencias de las gramáticas libres del contexto en las aplicaciones, preservando sus propiedades matemáticas. Por otro lado, la rápida evolución la biología, y otras áreas actuales supone un reto para tratar de las tareas varias que necesitan las herramientas adecuadas para la elaboración de modelos e investigación. Proponemos gramáticas controladas por redes de Petri como modelos para representar y analizar los procesos bioquímicos en las células vivas donde redes de Petri son responsables de la estructura, y gramáticas representan los procesos generativos. Además, el control de redes de Petri también tiene interés teórico: amplía las posibilidades de investigar los mecanismos de control concurrente en la teoría de lenguajes formales. La tesis presenta distintas variantes de gramáticas controladas por redes de Petri e investiga sus propiedades matemáticas.

Resultatet blev en funktionell webbapplikation där användaren enkelt kan lägga till, ändra eller ta bort utlägg via ett intuitivt gränssnitt samt se historik för tidigare månader.

Apesar de a alfabetização ser o objectivo último de abcNet, a estratégia seguida para a arquitectura interna de abcNet merece especial relevo. abcNet apresenta uma arquitectura que deposita no professor a responsabilidade da criação dos conteúdos necessários à alfabetização. É o professor, por configuração de modelos, que em cada instante e em cada caso tem o poder de decidir qual a metodologia e quais os conteúdos que melhor se aplicam. Neste contexto, apesar de o princípio pedagógico não ser novidade, a implementação realizada através de abcNet é concerteza um avanço significativo nas TIC.
ABSTRACT: The dissertation presents the development of a computer science platform based on the Web which aims at teaching how to read and write. Although the teaching how to read and write is the aim goal of abcNet, the strategy followed for the internal architecture of abcNet deserves special relief. abcNet presents an architecture that deposits in the professor the responsibility of the creation of the necessary contents to the teaching process. It is the teacher, by the configuration process of models, that in each instant and in each case has the power to decide which the methodology and which the contents are better to beapplied. In this context, although the pedagogical principle not to be newness, the implementation carried through abcNet is surely a significant advance in the CIT.

Safety net clinics across the country struggle with a lack of resources to tackle the needs presented. Screening programs set up for children and elderly have proven to be effective in triaging need, prioritizing care, and maximizing resources. These programs do not currently exist for working uninsured adults. Research was initiated to answer the question: Does the screening process improve patient care for the community clinic? During a 6-week pilot study a licensed dental hygienist performed 30 screenings in the community clinic setting. Findings were recorded and coded according to patient’s level of need identified. Pre- and posttest data for patient care factors were attained. Statistical tests showed a significant effect on patient care factors. While the evidence existed to support the implementation of screening, more research would quantify the specific impact on this population.

This thesis followed mixed methods participatory action research approach and had a deeper look on the present investment ecosystem and identified many barriers to investment for Aboriginal cooperative or social enterprise including negative stereotypes regarding Aboriginal communities impeding investing in cooperative or social enterprise. Pyrenophora teres f. teres is a fungal pathogen that causes barley net form net blotch. To evaluate the genetics of resistance in barley, a RIL population was developed using resistant barley lines CI5791 and Tifang and tested against a global collection of nine P. teres f. teres isolates. QTL analysis indicated that CI5791 resistance mapped to chromosome 6H and was effective against all isolates. Additionally, CI5791 harbored resistance on chromosome 3H effective against two Japanese isolates. Tifang also had resistance that mapped to 3H and was effective against four of the isolates. To evaluate the genetics of virulence in P. teres f. teres, a fungal population was developed and evaluated against ten barley lines. 19 unique QTL were identified on 12 different linkage groups. 1 or 2 major loci were identified for a few of the barley lines whereas for most lines, virulence was contributed by several loci.

The O*NET was built to replace the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) and form a highly accessible, on-line (through the World Wide Web), common language occupational information center (Dye & Silver, 1999). This study tested the relevance of the self-rating choice and unconventional BARS format to be used by the O*NET system for occupational ratings. In addition, a new rating scale format named NBADS, was tested for improved ratings. Fifty three Incumbent raters in two occupations (Graduate teaching assistants and Secretaries) and 87 laypeople raters who have never worked in these occupations, rated 21 item-pairs (Importance and Level type questions) picked randomly from the 52 items on the original O*NET Ability questionnaire. Participants rated each of the 21 item-pairs three times, with the Level question being presented in the O*NET BARS, a Likert GRS and the NBADS formats; The importance type question was always rated using a 1-5 Likert scale. Hypothesis 1a was supported, showing a significant leniency bias across formats for self-ratings. Hypothesis 1b was mostly supported, failing to show significant leniency, elevation error or interrater agreement improvement over laypeople ratings; only the overall-error measure showed a significant improvement for incumbent raters. Hypothesis 2 was not supported, failing to show that the GRS format had any improvement on leniency, accuracy or interrater agreement over the O*NET BARS format. Hypothesis 3a was supported, showing significant leniency reduction, accuracy error reduction and higher interrater agreement using the NBADS format over the GRS format. In a similar sense, hypothesis 3b was partially supported, showing reduction in leniency effect and higher agreement using the NBADS format over the O*NET BARS format. Finally, hypothesis 4 was mostly supported, showing hardly any significant differences in the ratings of the Importance type question across the three format sessions, strengthening the idea that no other interfering variables have caused the format sessions' differences. <p>The trend in recent years has been that the amount of wild catch is stagnating. In this perspective the selectivity of fishing gear has become an important issue. The aim of the present work has been to develop a three-dimensional model for the flow in front and inside a net structure, such as a trawl, to be able to predict and calculate selectivity of net structures. A net consist of twines which connect in knots and make up a mesh. The diameter of a twine can be from 1 [mm] in net cages up to a few centimeters in the front part of a trawl. And similar the size of the mesh can be from 1 [cm] up to the order of a meter. Typical Reynolds number range, related to the diameter of a twine, is O(10<sup>2</sup>−10<sup>4</sup>).</p><p>An examination of numerical results for the drag force on plane net structure demonstrates a strong dependency of the drag force on a net structure with both the geometry, in terms of Solidity ratio, and the Reynolds number. And in particular a non-uniform relation between the drag force and the Solidity ratio. It is evident that for increasing Solidity ratios, flow interaction will become increasingly significant. The physical design of the knot part contributes largely to this flow interaction.</p><p>The net structure is divided into discrete elements. The twines are modeled as separate cylinders between knots and the knots are modeled as separate spheres. Typically the total number of twines in a trawl could be in the order of 10<sup>6 </sup>and it is thus impractical to model every single twine. It is assumed that for a given Reynolds number, keeping the Solidity ratio constant, the total drag on the trawl will be independent on the actual diameter and mesh opening of the net.</p><p>First each of these different elements is modeled as a set of source distributions and single point sources. The influence from the net on the fluid flow is then calculated by representing the wake generated by each element as source distributions along the structural element. To determine the strength of these sources the principle of Lagally is applied. Then a set of equations is obtained, describing the relation between the fluid velocity and the source strength at every element. Based on this approach, a method is presented to calculate the drag force on net structures with high solidity. The method uses appropriate drag coefficients related to the geometry of the twines and the knots and account for the change in the inflow due to the presence of the net structure and at the same time changes the geometry of the net structure due to the load.</p><p>Secondly the interaction between the net elements, due to the physical generation of a wake flow behind each individual element of the net, has been studied using a time-averaged wake model. Modifications are applied to the far-field mean velocity deficit mode by Schlichting (1968). This to better describe the the near-field behavior and the added effect of the wake from many individual cylindrical elements. It is shown that the wake model by Blevins (1990) can be used. The method is verified against experiments, as means of calculating the drag on plane nets as a function of Reynolds number, Solidity ratio and angle of attack and gives reasonable good agreement. During the experiments some interesting three-dimensional effects regarding the flow around cylinders were discovered. Negative lift forces occurring on the downstream cylinder in a staggered arrangement is explained as interactions due to upstream generated vortices.</p><p>To create a three-dimensional method where the inflow on each of the cylinders is corrected due to the presence of all the other cylinders, these two models are added together. Further, a structural analysis of the net structure, using a FEM method, is included in the model. A more complete description of the problem is obtained by combining the change in the inflow due to the presence of the net structure, with a correction of the shape and geometry due to the drag load.</p><p>Results from numerical simulation of different kinds of net structures, show that the elasticity in the net structure has a significant influence on the resulting geometry and calculated results. Further, the numerical results for net cages have been compared to experimental results. Good agreement between the numerical results and the experimental result is seen. Also the resulting geometry from the experimental results was recreated satisfactory using the present method.</p><p>For three-dimensional cone shaped net structures, in contrast to net panels and net cages, the presented numerical results do not indicate a large influence on the drag force due to changes in geometry. The agreement between the numerical and experimental results for fluid velocity in front and inside of a three-dimensional net structure, compared to experimental results, was reasonably good. Quantitatively the results do not match exactly, but the characteristics of the flow are recreated. Further, based on the numerical results for the fluid velocity, pressure field in front of a cone is presented. The relative pressure gradient is shown to be minimal, and it is not likely than any fish will detect this change in pressure field neither by direct pressure sensing nor by any sound created from any shed vortices.</p>

The main goal of this PhD project was to develop a method for non-linear strength analysis of net structures applied in the aquaculture and fishing industries, e.g. net cages and trawls. The work focused on the aquaculture net cage, which was applied in experiments and analyses, and included research to establish knowledge within material properties and failure modes of traditional netting materials for aquaculture. It was chosen to focus on tensile properties and to study elastic and plastic behaviour, fracture, creep behaviour and cod bite damage. The project consisted of three main activities: tensile testing of netting materials, studies and testing of cod bite damage and resistance, and structural analysis of aquaculture net cages. Net cages are built as a system of ropes and netting. They are designed to transfer and carry all major forces through the ropes. Loads from current, waves, weights and handling induce forces in the net cage, which must be dimensioned to withstand this. Analyzing an aquaculture net cage is both complex and time consuming due to non-linear effects, detailed geometry and dynamic loads. The behaviour of the net cage is dominated by very large deformations and displacements, and materials with non-linear properties. There is a need for verified analysis methods and specific guidance on how to reduce the complexity of a net cage analysis. In order to perform a strength analysis of a net cage, it is crucial to know the material properties of the netting material. Traditionally, the material property of major interest for the aquaculture industry has been the tensile breaking strength of netting (mesh) and ropes, and comparatively little focus has been on their detailed stiffness properties and general behaviour prior to fracture. A new test method was established to determine the uniaxial tensile properties of knotless netting materials. It was applied on a variety of netting materials and stress-strain relations were developed. Data on temporary creep properties, recovery of strain post creep and post creep tensile properties of a selection of Raschel knitted netting materials was presented. Post creep tensile testing showed that the length and force at break were not significantly affected by the creep load history. Cod farmers have reported that cod interact with the cage netting through biting and thereby create wear and tear. The nature of the cod bite attack on traditional, multifilament netting materials was described based on studies of cod interaction with traditional knotless netting and resulting fracture damage on netting fibres. Field experiments were performed, subjecting panels of netting to cod bite in commercial cod cages. In addition, a test method was developed to simulate damage on traditional netting from cod bite, and a prototype bite-jig was designed and assembled. It was concluded that netting materials for cod aquaculture must be resistant to cod bite or be repellent or uninteresting for cod. A method for numerical analysis of net cages in constant uniform current was developed and verified for limited solidity, deformations and current velocities. Various new designs for aquaculture net cages were presented and compared to a traditional net cage with regard to stresses in the netting material and deformation of the net cage.

Four different methods for calculating forces on and deformation of a net suspended in current have been compared. The four methods are: 1) The method presented by Løland in his PhD thesis. Uses drag and lift coefficients based on experimental values. A zero moment requirement, and iteration is used to find the deformation and forces on net elements. 2) The solution of the catenary equation adapted to a net problem. 3) FhSim, a simulation software under development by SINTEF. Finds forces by adding contributions on single twines, based on coefficients from the modified cross flow principle. 4) AquaSim by Aquastructures, a commercial analysis software package. Forces on nets found from single twine contribution. A brief presentation of the different methods is given, with a more detailed discussion of the catenary equation method. The drag and lift coefficients are compared to experimental data. The Løland and catenary equation methods are generally closest to the experimental data. An error analysis of the catenary equation for four different solidity ratios showed decreasing relative error on drag force, lift force and end point angle with increasing current velocity. At current velocity above 0.6m/s, all these gave a relative error of 16% or less. The relative error of maximum tension increase with increasing current velocity. The four methods are compared with respect to drag force, lift force, and deformation. This is done with gradual increase of current velocity (case 1), and gradual increase of solidity ratio (case 2). The catenary equation and Løland method gives consistently almost equal lift force. FhSim and AquaSim also give very similar results for lift force, but the values are considerable lower than those from the other two methods. In FhSim, the low lift force is supported by relative small net deformations. Deformations according to AquaSim are larger, but still lower than those given from Løland and the catenary equation. The drag force from Løland, the catenary equation and FhSim are generally in the same range, with some partial exceptions. At relative high current velocity or solidity ratio, the drag force from AquaSim is found to be many times larger than those calculated from the other methods. Due to the drag force being calculated as contributions from every single twine, the proportionality with the projected area is reduced, leading to a significant overestimation at large deformations. Drag coefficients in FhSim should be larger for net panels with a angle relative to the current less than 60°. The lift coefficients for panels with an angle above 45° should also be larger. The solidity and angle independent factor in Lølands drag formula should be reduced or neglected. Some sort of shielding effect due to twines upstream should be implemented in AquaSim to reduce the overestimation of drag force at large net deformation. The lift coefficients for the catenary equation are likely high. The method seems to be viable for aquaculture application.

Huvudsyftet har varit att leverera en webbaserad bokningskalender där uthyrare kan lägga ut sina objekt samtidigt som intressenter kan boka dessa objekt. Dessa objekt kan omfattas av till exempel lägenheter, stugor och så vidare. Då projektet kräver att utvecklare och kund har ett nära samarbete valdes Skalning Agil metod som är en Agil metod, för att bäst uppnå detta syfte. Utvecklingen utav bokningssystemet skedde i en .NET miljö där programmeringsspråket var C#. För datalagring hade företaget Idop valt SQL server och interaktion med databasen sker genom Entity Framework. Resultatet av projektet blev en bokningskalender där uthyraren lägger ut sina lediga objekt för uthyrning under specifika datum samt uppger pris för den lediga perioden. Även intressenterna har nu möjlighet att preliminär boka ett specifikt objekt vid önskat datum. I rapporten förekommer mer detaljerad beskrivning av ovanståendenämnda punkter samt slutsatsen av projektet.<br>This project has been carried out on the recently started company Idop AB's behalf and has led to a further development of an existing webbased booking system for the mentioned company. The main goal has been to deliver a web-based booking calendar where advertiser can place their items while stakeholders can book these items. These items may be subject to such houses, cottages and so on. The project requires developers and customers to work closely, Scaling Agile Methods which is an agile method, was chosen for this purpose in order to best achieve this aim. The development of the booking system was written in a .NET environment in which the programming language was C#. For database, the company Idop AB had chosen SQL server and for interaction with the database Entity Framework. The outcome of the project was an online based booking calendar where the owners outsource their vacant properties for rent during specific dates and report the prices for the vacant period. The stakeholders are now able to make a preliminary booking of a specific object at the desired date. The report present more detailed description of the above mentioned points and the conclusion of the project.

Tutkin pro gradu -työssäni blogitekstien intertekstuaalisuutta. Tarkastelen matriisitekstin ja linkistä avautuvan pohjatekstin välistä suhdetta lähinnä analysoimalla subtekstien intertekstuaalisuutta. Subtekstit ovat pohjatekstistä peräisin olevia tekstijaksoja, jotka kirjoittaja on tuonut osaksi omaa blogikirjoitustaan. Blogitekstien intertekstuaalisuus on erilaista kuin perinteisten painettujen tekstien, joten hahmottelen työssäni inter(net)tekstuaalisuuden käsitettä. Tutkimusaineistonani on kahden eri kirjoittajan blogitekstejä. Molemmat kirjoittajat ovat toimittajia, ja blogit on julkaistu heidän työnantajansa internetsivuilla. Aineistossani on yhteensä 44 tekstiä, joissa on yhteensä 80 linkkiä. Tutkimusaineistooni kuuluvat myös linkeistä avautuvat pohjatekstit, joita on yhteensä 80. Tutkimuksessani olen käyttänyt teoreettisena pohjana Norman Faircloughin (1992) ja Vesa Heikkisen (1999, 2000) intertekstuaalisuusanalyyseja, joista olen muokannut työhöni sopivan metodin. Metodiini olen ottanut vaikutteita myös Aki Järvisen (2001) esittelemästä inter(net)tekstuaalisuudesta. Lisäksi olen viitannut Aino Nymanin (2001) tekemään tulkitsijalähtöiseen intertekstuaalisuuden tutkimukseen. Olen kehitellyt linkeille uudenlaista luokittelua, jonka pohjana olen käyttänyt aiemmin tehtyjä linkkianalyyseja (esim. Haas & Grams 1998). Blogien linkit ovat kirjoittajan tekemiä tahallisia viittauksia toisiin teksteihin. Aineistossani on eniten ydinaineslinkkejä. Niiden kohdalla pohjatekstiä ei ole nimetty eksplisiittisesti matriisitekstissä. Joidenkin ydinaineslinkkien yhteydessä matriisitekstissä on pohjatekstistä peräisin oleva subteksti, mutta subteksti voi myös puuttua. Aineistossani on vain muutamia täydennys- ja erityistietämyslinkkejä. Niiden kohdalla pohjateksti on nimetty eksplisiittisesti matriisitekstissä. Täydennyslinkkien yhteydessä matriisitekstissä on aina subteksti, mutta erityistietämyslinkkien kohdalla subtekstiä ei ole. Subtekstien intertekstuaalisuutta olen tarkastellut lähinnä suoran esityksen, epäsuoran esityksen ja kuvailuesityksen näkökulmasta. Aineistossani suoran esityksen käyttäminen on suhteellisen vähäistä. Intertekstuaalisuutta on ilmaistu yleisimmin epäsuoran esityksen tai kuvailuesityksen avulla. Blogien avoin inter(net)tekstuaalisuus näyttäytyy lukijalle ilmeisenä, koska matriisitekstien linkit tuovat toisten tekstien läsnäolon näkyviin. Tutkimukseni osoittaa, että blogien avoin inter(net)tekstuaalisuus on kuitenkin näennäisen avointa. Pohjatekstit eivät ole matriisitekstin rajapinnassa kovin eksplisiittisesti läsnä. Pohjatekstit on voitu jättää nimeämättä, tai niistä ei ole tuotu aineksia matriisitekstiin subtekstinä. Erityisen implisiittistä blogien inter(net)tekstuaalisuus on ydinaineslinkkien kohdalla, kun taas täydennyslinkkien yhteydessä inter(net)tekstuaalisuus on avoimempaa.

Previous issue date: 2006<br>Tradicionalmente, linguagens funcionais fornecem um grau de abstração superior ao encontrado em outros paradigmas (imperativo, orientado a objetos), o que se manifesta por meio de construções de alto nível como funções de alta ordem, aplicações parciais, polimorfismo paramétrico e, em algumas linguagens, avaliação sob demanda. Entretanto, a utilização do paradigma funcional tem-se restringido basicamente a aplicações acadêmicas. Essa restrição é em parte explicada pela ausência de ambientes de desenvolvimento e APIs que melhorem a produtividade do desenvolvedor na construção de aplicações que fazem uso das tecnologias mais recentes de desenvolvimento Web, computação distribuída, arquitetura orientada a serviços, entre outras. Por outro lado, plataformas como a Java Virtual Machine e, mais recentemente, a Plataforma .NET, disponibilizam uma amplagama de serviços e bibliotecas que satisfazem aos tipos de aplicações supracitados. O ambiente .NET, em particular, destaca-se por suportar múltiplas linguagens, apesar do suporte ser mais amplo a linguagens orientadas a objeto. Dentro desse contexto, surge a oportunidade de portar linguagens funcionais para essa plataforma, permitindo não apenas o acesso aos serviços por ela fornecidos como também uma interoperabilidade natural com outras linguagens. O objetivo deste trabalho é o desenvolvimento de uma implementação da linguagem funcional Hask ell para a Plataforma .NET. Tal implementaçãonão é trivial devido ao g a p semântico que existe entre uma linguagem funcional com avaliação sob demanda e um ambiente como o .NET. F oi desenvolvido um gerador de código capaz de gerar, a partir de um programa Hask ell, código em IL - linguagem assembly suportada pela máquina virtual. Paralelamente, foram conduzidas medições de desempenho do código gerado. Tais medições demonstraram performance razoável para váriosprogramas. TITLE: NET ZERO BUILIND ENERGY CONSERVATION MAJOR PROFESSOR: Dr. Emmanuel Nsofor This research deals with energy studies performed as part of a net-zero energy study for buildings. Measured data of actual energy utilization by a building for a continuous period of 33 months was collected and studied. The peak design day on which the building consumes maximum energy was found. The averages of the energy consumption for the peak month were determined. The DOE EnergyPlus software was used to simulate the energy requirements for the building and also obtain peak energy requirements for the peak month. Alternative energy sources such as ground source heat pump, solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and day-lighting modifications were applied to redesign the energy consumption for the building towards meeting net-zero energy requirements. The present energy use by the building, DOE Energy software simulations for the building as well as the net-zero model for the building were studied. The extents of the contributions of the individual energy harvesting measures were studied. For meeting Net Zero Energy requirement, it was found that the total energy load for the building can be distributed between alternative energy methods as 5.4% to daylighting modifications, 58% to geothermal and 36.6% to solar photovoltaic panels for electricity supply and thermal energy. Thus the directions to proceed towards achieving complete net-zero energy status were identified.

This thesis represents the Model-View-Controller pattern. It is focused especially at the description of the particular architecture layers principle and its functionality. It deals with the reasons of the three-layer architecture invention and it also deals with the advantages and the disadvantages provided by this pattern. The most frequent implementation of the MVC – the access to the data stored in the database through the web user interface is also described in this chapter. The next part of the thesis is concentrated on .NET Framework platform created from very voluminous, language-neutral library that is basically huge collection of the source codes providing the solution for common programmer’s problems and from the interface used for running up the applications created in .NET environment. The goal of the chapter concering with .NET Framework is to describe its architecture. The thesis also describes the platform invention, various versions of the .NET, the data access technology ADO.NET and the ASP.NET member ObjectDataSource. The chapter describing languages supported by the .NET Framework is focused on the C# language and its versions. The application “Multilayer applications in .NET environment” is the practical implementation of the mentioned technologies and it is described in the last chapter. The application’s architecture with the concentration on the particular Model-View-Controller layers implementation in the form of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 projects is also described in the thesis. Special attention is paid to each operation over the data stored in the database tables that the application enables the user to execute, as for example data inserting, updating, selecting or deleting. The common business object’s child generation process is also described deep into the details.

Net Neutrality implicates that all data being transmitted online is treated equal by Internet Service Providers. In 2016, the public debate regarding Net Neutrality in Sweden started growing as two major Mobile Network Operators were investigated by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority for violation of European Union Net Neutrality regulations. Several studies have been conducted regarding Net Neutrality, most of them written in a legal, financial or technological perspective. This study takes another direction, aimed at understanding the consumer’s point of view regarding Net Neutrality. This study investigates whether or not consumers are aware of the subject and if so, how they value it. To measure this, an online survey was constructed, containing a total of 12 questions and statements. 77 people participated in the survey and out of these, 10 people participated in qualitative follow-up interviews. The interviews were semi-structured and individually designed according to each participant’s answers in the survey. This was done in order to gain a deeper understanding of the consumer’s reasoning while answering the survey. The results show that consumers lack knowledge regarding Net Neutrality. A major part of the consumers had not heard of the term or did not know the meaning of it, making it hard to determine whether or not the consumers value NN. However, when given a more concrete example of the implications of Internet Traffic Management from ISPs, the participants had a better understanding of what kind of implications NN could have on their Internet usage. They valued the implications of Net Neutrality, even though they did not know the theory of the term itself. The study also revealed that consumers have a big confidence in National Regulatory Authorities when it comes to looking after the openness of the Internet. Therefore, it is likely that National Regulatory Authorities must inform and educate consumers in the matter of Net Neutrality for them to value it and see its long-term implications.<br>Nätneutralitet innebär kortfattat att all data som skickas över Internet ska behandlas likvärdigt utav Internetleverantörer (ISP). Under 2016 växte debatten kring nätneutralitet i Sverige då två stycken mobiloperatörer utreddes utav Post- och Telestyrelsen. Båda dessa mobiloperatörer lanserade kampanjer till sina kunder som ansågs strida mot EU:s förordning 2015/2120 rörande nätneutralitet. Ett antal studier har redan gjorts på ämnet nätneutralitet, dock har de flesta haft en infallsvinkel där man tittat på juridiska, finansiella eller tekniska perspektiv. Den här studien har en annan infallsvinkel och riktar sig istället mot konsumenters syn på nätneutralitet. Den ämnar undersöka huruvida konsumenter känner till begreppet nätneutralitet och om de gör det, hur värderar de konceptet? För att undersöka detta konstruerades en online-enkät, innehållandes 12 frågor. 77 personer deltog i enkäten och utav dessa så deltog 10 personer i uppföljande, kvalitativa intervjuer. Intervjuerna var semi-strukturerade och individuella med frågor baserade på individens svar i enkäten. Dessa intervjuer var till för att ge en fördjupad förståelse av konsumenternas syn på nätneutralitet och deras resonemang kring svaren under enkäten. Resultaten visar att konsumenter, deltagande i den här studien, har låg kunskap kring nätneutralitet. Majoriteten utav deltagarna hade inte hört termen eller kände inte till dess mening, vilket gjorde det svårt att dra några slutsatser kring huruvida konsumenterna värderar konceptet. Men när konsumenterna fick ett mer konkret exempel på hur Internetleverantörers datahantering påverkar kundernas Internetanvändande så tycktes konsumenterna förstå vilka implikationer nätneutralitet kan ha på deras eget Internetanvändande. De tycktes således värdera innebörden av nätneutralitet, även om de inte förstod teorin kring konceptet. Studien påvisade också att konsumenter har en stor tilltro till vederbörande myndighet, Post- och Telestyrelsen här i Sverige, när det gäller att se efter Internets öppenhet och mångfald. Det är därför troligt att Post- och Telestyrelsen kommer att behöva informera och utbilda konsumenter rörande nätneutralitet för att få konsumenter att se värdet av och de långsiktiga implikationerna utav det.

As demand for energy is skyrocketing around the globe, environmental challenges are becoming more severe than ever before. Carbon dioxide, methane gas and other greenhouse gases are rapidly contributing to global warming and ozone depletion phenomenon.
Buildings are among major contributors of greenhouse gases. They are consuming more than 40% of total energy and three quarter of the total electricity in the United States. It is to some distance the responsibility of building design professionals to address the impacts of their practice on the environment by reducing the energy consumption and carbon emission of their projects. This thesis aims to create a practical design guideline to help architects design energy-neutral homes in North America.
The study's primary emphasis is on reducing building energy demand by implementing core principles of building physics into the design process throughout a case study project. What makes this process unique compared to other existing green design programs is its focus on architect's knowledge to implement core energy saving design strategies into design and evaluate their performance with a normative simulation tool. Selection and analysis of building systems, financial evaluation of cost effective systems and materials, uncertainty analysis of building systems, construction cost estimating and marketing analysis of the case study project, demonstrate simple strategies for designers to use in projects with higher sensitivity.
In conclusion, the idea behind this methodology is building marketable energy-neutral homes in the current market with existing materials and none-complex technologies. The success of this design method is depends on the knowledge and skills of architects in building science, architectural design, and building construction. Despite barriers and many uncertainties embedded in this process, moving toward energy-neutral homes will have positive impacts on environment even if it could not reach the Net-Zero balance.

I denna uppsats, som gjorts på uppdrag av Tieto Sweden Healthcare & Welfare för att kunnaanvändas i systemet Laps Care, kommer det tas upp lösningar för att hämta geografisk data viakarttjänster med hjälp av Web Map Service (WMS) tjänster i en .NET applikation.Detta examensarbete kommer att ta upp, på en grundläggande nivå, hur WMS-standarden kananvändas av en klient för att visa digitala kartor från en WMS-tjänst samt lite kort om andraalternativ till WMS så som Web Map Service Tile Cache (WMS-C) och Tile Map Service (TMS)tjänster. Det ges olika förslag på open source komponenter som kan användas för att hantera sådanatjänster med fokus på SharpMap som valdes att användas i prototypen som gjordes för att visa huren sådan klient kan se ut.Uppsatsen kommer också behandla kartografi där det kortfattat förklaras om vilka riktlinjer somborde tas för en karta.I andra stycket tas kortfattat upp hur webbtjänster fungerar och även vad det finns för för- ochnackdelar att använda sig av sådana tjänster.Det kommer också förklaras vad Geografiska informationssystem (GIS) är och hur det användsidag.Sammanfattningsvis så utvecklades en fungerande prototyp med hjälp av open source komponentenSharpMap som kan visa kartor från WMS, WMS-C och TMS tjänster och om en ERSI Shapefilmed vägdata finns tillgänglig så går det att söka efter gator.

Recent trends in programming language implementation are moving more and more towards “managed” runtime environments. These offer many ben-
efits, including static and dynamic type checking, security, profiling, bounds
checking and garbage collection. The Common Language Infrastructure
(CLI) is Microsoft’s attempt to define a managed runtime environment.
However, since it was designed with more mainstream languages in mind,
including C] and C++, CLI proves restrictive when compiling functional
languages. More specifically, for compilers such as GHC, which compiles
Haskell, the CLI provides little support for lazy evaluation, currying (partial
applications) and static type checking. The CLI does not provide any way of
representing a computation in an evaluated and non-evaluated form. It does
not allow functions to directly manipulate the runtime stack, and it restricts
static typing in various forms; including subsumption over function types.
In this thesis, we describe a new compilation method that removes the
need for runtime argument checks. Runtime argument checking is required to
ensure proper reduction semantics in situations where the arity of a function
may be statically unknown. We introduce a new set of annotations, called
operational types, which provide an abstract model of reduction. From these
operational annotations we can construct a transformation, called lambda
doping, which saturates all partial applications, removing the need for run-
time argument checks. This enables the CLI to support an eager, curried,
higher order functional language.
We also describe a type inference algorithm that infers universally quan-
tified types with implicit widening coercions. We show that we can easily
include the generation of operational typings from type inference. We restrict
type inference to simple extensions of the usual unification algorithm, given
by Hindley-Milner, so that inference is immediately applicable to most com-
mercial functional languages. We also develop a set of transformations which
demonstrate that for the most part inferred types can be readily mapped to
the CLI.
Finally, we develop a practical implementation of a higher-order, curried
eager functional language, called Mondrian.

Specific types of multi-net neural computing systems can give improved generalisation performance over single network solutions. In single-net systems learning is one way in which good generalisation can be achieved, where a number of neurons are combined through a process of collaboration. In this thesis we examine collaboration in multi-net systems through in-situ learning. Here we explore how generalisation can be improved through learning in the components and their combination at the same time. To achieve this we present a formal way in which multi-net systems can be described in an attempt to provide a method with which the general properties of multi-net systems can be explored. We then explore two novel learning algorithms for multi-net systems that exploit in-situ learning, evaluating them in comparison with multi-net and single-net solutions. Last, we simulate two cognitive processes with in-situ learning to examine the interaction between different numerical abilities in multi-net systems. Using single-net simulations of subitization and counting we build a multi-net simulation of quantification. Similarly, we combine single-net simulations of the fact retrieval and ‘count all’ addition strategies into a multi-net simulation of addition. Our results are encouraging, with improved generalisation performance obtained on benchmark problems, and the interaction of strategies with in-situ learning used to describe well known numerical ability phenomena. This learning through interaction in connectionist simulations we call integrated learning.

It allows users to access and utilize unused computer resources, such as CPU cycles and storage, without an expert's knowledge. It achieves this by providing a number of abstract services that hide some of the complexity inherent in distributed computing. In recent years, Grid Computing has been proposed as a solution for Internet resource sharing. However, Grid Computing as presently implemented does not address the need of the large majority of the users. In this thesis, we propose a different approach to achieve Internet resource sharing called the Realm. The Realm Framework offers a lightweight layer on top of the Microsoft .Net Framework so that the programs that can be migrated to .Net Framework can also utilize the shared resources through the Realm Framework. By leveraging the Microsoft .Net Framework, the Realm Framework avoids tedious re-working in this fast-paced world of technology by sitting on the top of the full-featured, coherent and up-to-date development platform. The Realm Framework applies current technologies such as Web Services, the Common Language Runtime (CLR) and popular encryption algorithms.<br>(cont.) In this thesis a versatile runtime system and a set of extension interfaces in C# programming language is developed. The modularized software package offers a layered programming model for distributed-application developers with different levels of proficiency. Two utilities that are helpful for maintaining a distributed system are also developed, namely, a dynamic domain-name based inter-realm communication scheme and a distributed debugger. Examples of applying the Realm Framework to several typical scenarios are shown, including embarrassingly parallel problems that require little communication between computing nodes, parallel computing problems that require intensive message-passing between the computing nodes, and universal storage systems that are based on storage media and the messenger-like applications that require a sophisticated communication scheme.<br>by Xiaohan Lin<br>Ph.D.
