O objetivo da presente dissertação é fazer uma análise da decadência do patriarcalismo na obra teatral de Nelson Rodrigues, tendo como ponto de partida as obras publicadas nas décadas de 40 e 50, essencialmente A mulher sem pecado, Álbum de família, Senhora dos afogados e Os sete gatinhos. Nesta dissertação, também estudamos apoiados por textos da literatura sociológica, do pensamento de Michel Foucault e de textos da dramaturgia brasileira a presença da modernidade, a qual levou à abertura da casa, provocando um motim no seio familiar, causador da disseminação do poder do patriarca. Por fim, contrapomos a peça Anti-Nelson Rodrigues às peças anteriores, com o intuito de averiguarmos se o dramaturgo enquadra-se na visão daqueles que vêem a família como uma instituição sitiada, ou como um santuário para um mundo cujos valores entraram em crise.

Este trabalho consiste numa análise das Confissões de Nelson Rodrigues, crônicas de costumes escritas na passagem da década de 1960 para 1970 e reeditadas recentemente em três coletâneas: O óbvio ululante, A cabra vadia e O reacionário. O propósito da dissertação é, a partir da leitura das crônicas, fazer emergir o personagem/narrador Nelson Rodrigues que trabalha na fronteira da ficção e da confissão. Narrador que cria outros personagens a partir das figuras públicas do Brasil daquele momento. Caberá verificar, então, como Nelson Rodrigues ficcionaliza a si próprio e aos outros protagonistas da década de 1960/70.
This piece of work consists of an analysis of Nelson Rodrigues` Confessions, custom chronicles written in the passage from the 1960`s to the 1970`s and recently reedited in three compilations: O óbvio ululante, A cabra vadia, O reacionário. The purpose of this dissertation is to make emerge, from the reading of chronicles, the character/narrator, Nelson Rodrigues, who works on the thin line between fiction and confession. A narrator who creates other characters from the image of Brazilian public figures of the time. It will hence rest to verify how Nelson Rodrigues fictionalizes himself and other protagonists of the 1960`s and 70`s.

Il est démontré que Goodman, dans tous ses travaux, développe une métaphysique technique et méconnue, dont les piliers sont le nominalisme, le pluralisme, le perdurantisme, l’actualisme, et l’universalisme méréologique. Cette lecture permet de réévaluer l’ensemble de la pensée goodmanienne. Elle établit aussi ses liens insoupçonnés avec la métaphysique analytique contemporaine.

Abstract:
Nossa pesquisa insere-se em um grande grupo de críticas que propõe leituras para a obra rodrigueana, que, desde o surgimento dos primeiros textos, tem criado discussão e tem sido por isso analisada através das mais diversas teorias. Queremos propor a análise de quatro das mais controversas peças de Nelson Rodrigues e, já que isso esbarra em aspectos políticos, analisar a posição intelectual do autor, bastante polêmica em um momento de divisão política muito clara. Primeiro mostramos o contexto em que a obra insere-se, considerando: a intelectualidade, a sociedade e a recepção da obra. Depois, lembramos da posição manifesta do autor através das crônicas culturais, nas quais se afirma reacionário. Em seguida, a fim de mostrar a qualidade revolucionária dos textos de Rodrigues, escolhemos o grupo de peças míticas: Álbum de família (1946), Anjo negro (1947), Senhora dos afogados (1947) e Dorotéia (1949). Esse grupo nos pareceu mais interessante porque nele o autor busca uma aproximação ao modelo grego de tragédia e foge da ambientação direta, como acontece nas tragédias cariocas. Nossa análise enfatiza uma perspectiva histórico-antropológica através de Freyre (2004), Holanda (1977) e DaMatta (1985 e 1990), que revelam os problemas sociais e culturais do Brasil apontados criticamente por Nelson Rodrigues; e uma perspectiva filosófica e psicanalítica da moral, através de Nietzsche (1998) e Freud (1974), que esclarecem os conflitos morais assinalados pelo autor. Por fim, mostramos que através da fórmula trágica, que também traz um componente político, o autor revela sua face revolucionária, pondo em debate no teatro justamente os pontos que a sociedade brasileira mais tentou ocultar em seu processo civilizatório.
Our research project is part of a larger group which proposes readings of the works of Nelson Rodrigues. Since they were published, these works have generated a lot of discussion and thus have been analyzed through a set of different theories. We aim at providing one more little piece for this infinite puzzle, proposing an analysis of four of the most controversial plays by Nelson Rodrigues and taking into account the intellectual position of the author, which was very polemic at a time of very clear political disunion.We first set the work in context, considering intellectuals, society and the reception of the work. Then, we recollect the manifest position of the author on his cultural chronicles, in which he states that he is politically conservative. After that, in order to highlight the revolutionary quality of the texts by Nelson Rodrigues, we select a group of mythic plays: Álbum de família (1946), Anjo negro (1947), Senhora dos afogados (1947) and Dorotéia (1949). This group of plays has called our attention once it shows the attempt of the author in coming closer to the model of the Greek tragedy and in escaping from the direct setting, as it normally happens in the “carioca” tragedies. Our analysis mainly tries to provide a historic-anthropological perspective, based on Freyre (2004), Holanda (1977) and Damatta (1985 e 1990), who reveal the social and cultural problems in Brazil which were critically pointed out by Nelson Rodrigues. It also tries to provide a philosophical and psychoanalytical perspective of the moral based on Nietzsche (1998) and Freud (1974), who clear up the moral conflicts pointed out by the author. By using the tragic formula, which also brings about a political component, the author shows his revolutionary face, opening debate at the theatre exactly about the points which the Brazilian society has mostly tried to omit in its civilizatory process.

This PhD dissertation is dedicated to the philosophy of Nelson Goodman (1906-1998). We defend, against most critics, a metaphysical interpretation of Goodman’s works. It will be shown that the latter developed a technical and often overlooked metaphysics, whose pillars are nominalism, pluralism, perdurantism, actualism, and mereological universalism. This reading allows for a critical reevaluation of Goodman’s views. It also brings to light his unexpected links with contemporary analytic metaphysics

Esta tese busca uma leitura possível das razões do fracasso de grande parte das adaptações da dramaturgia de Nelson Rodrigues para o cinema. Sua primeira investida percorre o teatro rodrigueano, elaborando o conceito de dupla tensão como marca do autor. A primeira tensão, articulada ainda nos domínios temáticos, responderia pelo embate firmado entre o Brasil anterior à gripe-espanhola e os "novos tempos", dominados por uma modernidade produtora de tripla decadência, como pensa Eric Hobsbawm. A segunda tensão, insinuada nos domínios estéticos, promoveria certo afastamento do conceito de drama puro, segundo teoria de Peter Szondi, ao se deixar contaminar por gêneros diversos, posicionando-se entre o melodramático e o trágico. Neste contexto, Toda nudez será castigada, peça de 1965, seria o ponto mais alto desta trajetória. Tal conformação, perseguida em todo o teatro do autor, não parece ter encontrado eco nas releituras do cinema, quase todas reducionistas do universo tensional. A única experiência de exceção parece acontecer na versão de Arnaldo Jabor justamente para Toda nudez será castigada, filme de 1973 que transforma em ritmo próprio as tensões típicas da dramaturgia rodrigueana, movimento contrário às outras versões, que tentaram corrigi-las com sínteses nas mais variadas proposições.

COORDENAÇÃO DE APERFEIÇOAMENTO DO PESSOAL DE ENSINO SUPERIOR
Em 2005, Nelson Felix, expôs no Paço Imperial (RJ) as Trilogias da Cruz, do Tempo e do Vazio, que expressam o olhar do artista sobre sua obra, ao longo de vinte e cinco anos. Os temas que elege - o tempo, o vazio e a cruz - não constituem pesquisas ou abordagens autônomas, ao contrário, se entrelaçam e se superpõem. Os trabalhos relacionados à cruz estabelecem um diálogo crítico com o site-specific, como parte do movimento de expansão da arte, inserido no cenário histórico da década de 60, mais especificamente, em torno da Minimal Art e da Land Art. Nelson Felix utiliza o sistema de coordenadas e o deslocamento ao qual se refere a eclíptica como estratégias para superar a composição, convertendo-os em elementos que estruturam a sua poética. Assim, os sítios e os trabalhos incorporam como parâmetros de localização dados que se referem a escalas da ordem do incomensurável e escapam a uma percepção direta. A questão do tempo se apresenta e participa da complexa trama que inclui, além de dados científicos e aparatos tecnológicos referências aos simbolismos da matéria e ao estudo da anatomia humana e de culturas ancestrais o que resulta, algumas vezes, em hibridismos estranhos e resistentes a uma compreensão fácil, mas que são, extremamente, emblemáticos da obra como um todo. A natureza se transforma em um espaço de experimentação, o que constitui a atividade criadora e, não o objeto, quase sempre efêmero, que dela deriva. O presente trabalho considera a maneira singular como Nelson Felix articula questões relativas a tradição e ao campo ampliado da escultura, associando esses procedimentos e as referências simbólicas que elege, em torno dos temas da cruz, do tempo e do vazio. O formato das trilogias orientou a estrutura desta dissertação, a partir da lógica intrínseca aos seus arranjos.
In 2005, Nelson Felix exhibited at the Imperial Paço in Rio de Janeiro the Trilogies of the Cross, of Time, of Emptiness which express the artist`s regard over his own work throughout twenty five years. The selected themes - time, void and cross - do not constitute autonomous approaches or researches, on the contrary, they intertwine and superpose. The works related to the cross establish a critic dialogue with the site-specific as part of the art expansion movement seizing the 60`s historical landscape, more specifically, Minimal Art and Land Art. Nelson Felix adopts the coordinates system and considers the displacement referred to the ecliptic like strategies to overcome the composition, converting them in elements that structure his poetics. Thus, the sites and the works absorb localization parameters, data that refers to an incommensurable order that escapes to our perception. The question of time presents itself through the complex texture that includes, beyond scientific data and technological artifacts, the symbolic meanings of matter and the study of human anatomy and ancestral cultures resulting, sometimes, in strange hybrid forms that resists to an easy comprehension, but emblematically represents the work as a whole. The nature is taken like an experimental field and constitutes the creative activity but not the object, constantly ephemeral, that remains. The research considers the singular way that Nelson Felix articulates the questions related with the tradition and the expanded field of sculpture, associating the procedures and the symbolic references to the themes: cross, time and emptiness. The Trilogies format has oriented the structure of the dissertation considering the intrinsic logic of its arrangements.

This work concerns of the notation concept by Nelson Goodman in the book Languages of Art. From a general approach to the language notion, the concept of notation is presented as an intermediary between the verbal languages and general communication. Goodman proposes an interesting theory about notation, whose principle relates to the need at providing means to identify plays. In this work the concept of Goodman and the criteria used to define the notational structure is going to be discussed and exemplified. Then this approach is applied in discussions case, music, chemistry, painting, electronic diagram, floor plan, especially in the "literature" of the (brazilian) movimento concretista
Este trabalho diz respeito ao conceito de notação tal qual o mesmo é desenvolvido por Nelson Goodman no livro Languages of art. A partir de uma abordagem geral da noção de linguagem, o conceito de notação é apresentado entre as linguagens verbais e a comunicação em sentido amplo. Goodman propõe uma interessante teoria da notação, cujo princípio se prende na necessidade de fornecer meios para se identificar execuções. Neste trabalho será abordado e exemplificado o conceito de Goodman e os critérios utilizados para se definir uma estrutura notacional. Em seguida, esta abordagem é aplicada na discussão de casos: música, química, pintura, diagrama eletrônico, planta arquitetônica baixa e escrita, especialmente na literatura do movimento concretista.

A crônica reacionária de Nelson Rodrigues comporta uma riqueza de traços estéticos e ideológicos. Do ponto de vista formal, a sátira rodriguesiana remete suas raízes a uma archaica situada no "campo do sério-cômico" da Antigüidade Clássica. Do ponto de vista ideológico, ela é politicamente interessada e toma partido na batalha das idéias que se trava sob a ditadura militar. A crônica jornalística de Nelson Rodrigues é contingente e dá um tratamento ficcional ao real, sobretudo através do exagero, da amplificação dos fatos da vida cotidiana. Como acontecimento discursivo, está aqui abordada num feixe temático que engloba cinco eixos: a morte, o negro, o feminino, o anticomunismo e a estética
The reactionary chronicle of Nelson Rodrigues contains a wealth of aesthetic and ideological lines. From the formal point of view, the satire rodriguesiana its roots back to an archaic located in the "field of serious-comic" of Classical Antiquity. From the ideological point of view, it is politically interested and takes part in the battle of ideas that hangs under the military dictatorship. The news chronicle of Nelson Rodrigues is contingent and gives a fictional treatment of reality, mainly through the exaggeration, the amplification of the facts of everyday life. As a discursive event, is addressed here in a bundle that includes five thematic areas: death, black, the female, the anticomunism and the aesthetics

In particular one should expect that in some sense when quantum mechanical effects becomes negligible the system will behave like it is dictated by classical mechanics. One famous relation between classical and quantum theory is due to Ehrenfest. This result was later developed and put on firm mathematical foundations by Hepp. He proved that matrix elements of bounded functions of quantum observables between suitable coherents states (that depend on Planck's constant h) converge to classical values evolving according to the expected classical equations when h goes to zero. His results were later generalized by Ginibre and Velo to bosonic systems with infinite degrees of freedom and scattering theory. In this thesis we study the classical limit of Nelson model, that describes non relativistic particles, whose evolution is dictated by Schrödinger equation, interacting with a scalar relativistic field, whose evolution is dictated by Klein-Gordon equation, by means of a Yukawa-type potential. The classical limit is a mean field and weak coupling limit. We proved that the transition amplitude of a creation or annihilation operator, between suitable coherent states, converges in the classical limit to the solution of the system of differential equations that describes the classical evolution of the theory. The quantum evolution operator converges to the evolution operator of fluctuations around the classical solution. Transition amplitudes of normal ordered products of creation and annihilation operators between coherent states converge to suitable products of the classical solutions. Transition amplitudes of normal ordered products of creation and annihilation operators between fixed particle states converge to an average of products of classical solutions, corresponding to different initial conditions.

Abstract:
Purpose – This study seeks to explore residents’ attitudes towards cultural events in Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB), South Africa. The study further discusses the cultural values and social realities of the diverse socio-economic landscape inherent to the city. Equally, the extent of stakeholder involvement has been reflected throughout the study as an indispensable requirement towards sustainable tourism in the city. The study presents that customising cultural events according to the cross-cultural typology has far-reaching consequences in enhancing the image of NMB and induces stakeholder engagement. This study is based on the notion of Social Capital and Stakeholder theory and draws on the multi-cultural phenomenon as the thrust of the study is based on attracting residents’ to cultural events. The literature study indicated that the concept of Social Capital and stakeholder collaboration are mutually exclusive and empirical analysis indicates a strong relationship between the factors relative to residents’ attitudes. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study is located in the positivism paradigm and comprises literature and exploratory research to examine the supposition between the independent variables and the attitudes of residents’ in the NMB. The independent variables underlined in the proposed model are embedded in the literature undertaken. Equally, the thrust of the study is underpinned in Social Capital theory and the Stakeholder theory and is evident throughout this study. In this study, the convenience sampling and snowball sampling methods were employed to obtain a representative sample of residents from the NMB. A questionnaire was used in this study to solicit responses pertaining to the biographical information and questions relating to the factors of perceived satisfaction of residents in the NMB in relation to cultural events. A total number of 3,659 residents participated in this study. The researcher conducted this study by means of testing the constructs of the measuring instrument employed, as well as providing a causal model of relationships between the independent variables and the residents’ attitudes of cultural events in NMB. Findings – The results confirm the reliability and validity of the scales tested on a sample of 3,659 residents, collected using the questionnaire in Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan area. The empirical analysis indicates relationships among the independent factors; Social Capital and Stakeholder Profile, where a Pearson’s correlation of 0.50 exists. Furthermore, descriptive findings indicate that there is an overall positive tendency in attitudes for cultural events in the city. The practical significance as identified in the Cohen’s d test for significance infers that the moderating factors in the conceptual model prove that age, area code, home language, ethnicity and home language exert influence in determining residents’ attitudes in the city. Practical Implications – This study identifies the importance of leveraging the cross-cultural typology underscored the Stakeholder theory. Equally, for destination marketing organisations (DMOs) this study can glean insights in respect of the profile of residents for cultural event marketing and their response as stakeholders in the organisation of a cultural event. Social Implications – This study aims to gain a better understanding of the residents’ attitudes of the cultural events hosted by the NMB, its Social Capital and its relationship with varying demographic niches and cultural-centric insights that align to the ideologies pertaining to global citizenship. Originality/Value – This present study makes a contribution to the theories of Social Capital and Stakeholder theory by investigating its roles in determining residents’ attitudes of cultural events in a city. Moreover, it discusses the role of the factors as inducing variables for residents’ motivation by employing marketing principles related to the unique and emotional selling proposition philosophy. Equally, the study espouses the significance of promoting cultural events to extent that it acts as a platform to promote socio-economic development; employment opportunities, improved living standards, improving city infrastructure and environmental protection of a destination and justifies the expedition of Social Capital on the attitudes of residents’.

The quest for resilient cities has emerged as a strategy to mitigate and adapt the problems created by urban population growth and rapid urbanisation. Resilience has increasingly become an important urban policy discourse that challenge cities to reflect on their adaptive capacity to function in the face of adversity. Urban resilience in particular, amplifies the concern that urban spaces are the hub of heightened complexities of diverse risks. Across the globe, the concept of resilience is gaining momentum with many academic researchers discussing this phenomenon. In South Africa, the concept has been sparingly incorporated in a number of literatures with little focus on local government entities such as municipalities. In order to close this gap in the literature, and in response to the increasing use of the concept locally, this study explores the extent to which factors of resilience resonate within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality urban management practices. Based on the exploration of a wide array of literature from various disciplinary areas, this study examines the concept of urbanisation and the related challenges. It also critically explores the concept of resilience, its application in urban management as well as the attributes of the adaptive capacities that enable urban resilience. This research adopts the City Resilience Framework and Index developed by Arup in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation to assess the levels of resilience in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. The framework identifies four main dimensions used to measure resilience: People’s health and wellbeing, Organisation of the economy and society, Place of urban systems and services and Knowledge inherent in leadership and strategy. These dimensions form the basis of an integrative framework that provides an alternative lense through which cities can understand their unique attributes that contribute to their resilience. This research highlights the levels of resilience within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and outlines practical implications for Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s management which can also be applied in other cities. This research adopts a positivist approach and applies statistical empirical measures using a quantitative analysis process. The research instrument in the form of a questionnaire was administered to the target population for data collection. Using the conceptual framework, the researcher applied statistical analysis to derive relationships amongst the variables to determine the degree of resilience in Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality using the four main dimensions of the framework. The findings of the study show the varying levels of resilience within NMBM’s practices. NMBM’s principal success areas include; providing basic houses, ensuring water and sanitation facilities, instituting effective labour policies, providing skills development and training facilities especially to the youth, enabling a conducive atmosphere for business development and the presence of an integrated development strategy. However, not much has been done in providing sufficient public health facilities, alternative energy sources, access to financial services, ensuring food security, enabling continuity of projects and activities through a funded budget, providing emergency medical services in the event of a disaster, high levels of corruption and insufficient deterrents to crime. Overall, the results show that NMBM has made good strides in enabling high level of resilience in its day to day operations. The findings of this study suggest that urban resilience is a continuous process that facilitates engagement leading to a dialogue and deeper understanding of a city.

Unemployment is a huge challenge for the South African government and it has been identified as an important variable in the fight against poverty and inequality in the country. The unemployment rate in the Eastern Cape Province is higher than the national unemployment rates in the country and the unemployment rate in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is higher than the provincial average. The purpose of this study is to uncover the barriers to employment in Nelson Mandela Bay. Chapter one presents the rationale and background to the study including the research aims, objectives and the scope of the research. Chapter two provides an extensive literature review about the major factors that influence unemployment rates, the government inititiatives that were deployed to reduce unemployment rates in the country and the impact of labour market inflexibility on employment outcomes. Chapter three provides the research methodology followed in this study and chapter four includes an analysis and discussions of the questionnaire data. Chapter five concludes the research report with recommendations for policymakers.

In the knowledge world into which mankind has progressed, universities are engines of economic growth. Their role has changed from producers of labour force to equal contributors - along with government and industry- in regional and national economic and social growth and development. Universities that will survive and succeed in this new climate must embrace entrepreneurship - become entrepreneurially oriented. As in any other organisation corporate entrepreneurship processes explain how entrepreneurship is implemented and diffused throughout a university, and its members must perceive the internal organisational culture as innovation supporting for entrepreneurship to flourish. Hence, the importance of studying internal environmental conditions that influence / enable corporate entrepreneurship. This study investigated NMMU’s entrepreneurial orientation by first determining what an entrepreneurial university is and its key attributes. Next it identified the key structural factors influencing university entrepreneurship and enquired how these structural factors can be influenced to enhance entrepreneurship at NMMU. To this end, survey method was used to sample perception of the university middle managers. The study first determined the level of entrepreneurship in NMMU by measuring its entrepreneurial intensity and then attempted to locate its position on the entrepreneurial grid. Next the level of the university’s internal environmental support for entrepreneurship was determined. The university’s culture was found to be the key factor influencing entrepreneurship with time availability and work discretion as key internal factors through which NMMU’s entrepreneurial culture could be improved. Proactivity and frequency dimensions of entrepreneurship were found to lead to significant improvement in the university’s entrepreneurial output and based on the outcome of the study; suggestions were made on ways of incorporating findings to better improve entrepreneurial orientation.

Nelson Park is situated in a dense urban environment in the heart of the West End of Vancouver B.C. This neighborhood park acts as a backyard to many West End residents, a short cut for residents to cut through, and has a playground and school for young children. The park is visually permeable with multiple site lines throughout. It is at times a popular destination for a number of local users. However, these features do not deter drug users, dealers, criminals and other undesirables from regularly using the space thus making it feel unsafe and uncomfortable for legitimate users. Nelson Park has the potential to play an integral role in the formation and continuation of social groups. This graduation project redesigns Nelson Park to increase the success of this public space by reducing user conflicts and improving the sense of security and community in Nelson Park. The redesign will attempt to fulfill the parks potential as a place for all legitimate users to enjoy.

Abstract:
Most trading software in the market uses linear interpolation in the bootstrap procedure to create a zero coupon interest rate curve. Forward interest rate curves created by interpolation method have a zigzag form that is inconsistent with arbitrage condition. Furthermore in the real world we are not able to detect the spot rates for all periods because the number of traded instruments is limited. Nelson and Siegel in 1987 proposed a model to estimate the interest rates. They demonstrated that their model was flexible to capture the various possible shapes of the yield curve and estimates the term structure of interest rates over time. Many Central banks are using the extended Nelson-Siegel model (sometimes called the Nelson-Siegel-Svensson model). This curve is parameterized with exponential functions, is smooth in both zero rate and forward rate and overcome those barrier (data mining problems and zigzag shape of forward interest rate curve), that we face by using linear interpolation to build the yield curve. The objective of this thesis is to study the Nelson and Siegel model and its extended version by Svensson, furthermore, study the adequacy and forecast performance of Nelson-Siegel-Svensson model in building the term structure of interest rate comparing with the linear interpolation method.

Resumo: A dissertação é composta por seis capítulos. No 1o. deles, fazemos uma análise da peça "Os Sete Gatinhos", de Nelson Rodrigues. Procuramos aí compreender alguns elementos básicos da dramaturgia do autor, como a questão do trágico e do cômico delineando as situações dramáticas e as personagens. Nos 2o. e 3o. capítulos, pretendemos uma análise da questão do erotismo e da morte, temas recorrentes na dramaturgia do autor, bem como uma investigação sobre a presença da doença marcando o elemento corpóreo, fisiológico, tão explorada por Nelson. Algumas idéias do filósofo Georges Bataille orientaram-nos nesse sentido. O 4o. capítulo procura dar conta de uma contextualização do universo rodrigueano no seu ambiente social, resgatando sua historicidade. Processos literários pertinentes a essa dramaturgia também são aqui abordados. No momento seguinte, um paralelo entre o teatro de Nelson e as experiências de vanguarda da dramaturgia universal, principalmente o que se convencionou chamar por "Teatro do Absurdo". E finalmente, no último capítulo, um esforço no sentido de compreender o universo dramático de Nelson Rodrigues valorizando-a a partir de critérios mais restritos ao literário.

Besides the better-known Nelson logic (?3) and paraconsistent Nelson logic (?4), in Negation and separation of concepts in constructive systems (1959) David Nelson introduced a logic that he called ?, with motivations of arithmetic and constructibility. The logic was defined by means of a calculus (crucially lacking the contraction rule) having infinitely many rule schemata, and no semantics was provided for it. We look in the present dissertation at the propositional fragment of ?, showing that it is algebraizable (in fact, implicative) in the sense of Blok and Pigozzi with respect to a class of involutive residuated lattices. We thus provide the first known algebraic semantics for ?(we call them of ?-algebras) as well as a finite Hilbert-style calculus equivalent to Nelson?s presentation. We provide an algorithm to make ?-algebras from ?-algebras or implicative lattices and we prove some results about the class of algebras which we have introduced. We also compare ? with other logics of the Nelson family, that is, ?3 and ?4.

RESUMO Este trabalho trata máscara-objeto e máscara-maquiagem como meiode transformação dos atores no espetáculo “Doroteia”, de Nelson Rodrigues. A dissertação é constituída a partir de experiências com máscaras, tanto objeto quanto maquiagem, apresentando no percurso das vivências a solidificação e base para a concepção e criação dos elementos cênicos em questão. Essainvestigação tem como objetivo abordar a caracterização visual dos personagens no referido espetáculo, com foco nas máscaras supracitadas, destacando sua importância fundamental para a construção do personagem teatral. Posteriormente, são analisadas as aplicabilidades das referidas máscaras nas cenas do espetáculo. As leituras a partir da percepção do espectador acontecem como consequência da consciência coerente com o todo que o portador estabelece.
ABSTRACT This thesis deals with mask-object and mask-make up asinstruments of transformation of the actors at Nelson Rodrigues’ play, “Doroteia”. The dissertation is built over experiences with mask-object and mask-make up, introducing during the process the solidification and basis for conception and creation of the scenic elements being studied. This investigation aims to broach the visual characterization of the characters in the play, focusing on the two previously mentioned masks, emphasizing their fundamental importance for the theatrical character’s construction. Subsequently, the applicability of the masks will be analyzed in the scenes of the play. O presente trabalho propõe uma re-leitura da obra teatral de Nelson Rodrigues, enfocando a "mulher" como elemento-chave de suas peças. A notória relevância atribuída pelo autor às personagens femininas, fazendo-as protagonistas da maioria de suas peças. Trata-se de uma visão nova (para a época) da sensibilidade feminina, num tratamento diferenciado da mulher, com suas mazelas e frustrações. A mulher tripartida interiormente, oscilando entre os planos da realidade, memória e alucinação, de acordo com os caminhos e descaminhos do desejo, à mercê das pressões sociais e familiares - é a representante do universo feminino da dramaturgia rodriguiana. Foram destacadas três personagens para um estudo mais detalhado. Das estruturas e linguagem da obra do autor foram extraídas as bases constitutivas dessas personagens. Três momentos distintos na criação do teatro do autor; três atos em cada uma das peças (a exceção de uma); três planos no palco de vestido de noiva e na divisão interna da complexa alma feminina. Uma proposta dramatúrgica voltada para os motivos intrínsecos da existência, como o amor, a morte, o desejo, o ódio e todas as situações limítrofes.

This study sought to investigate the relevance of Person-Environment (P-E) fit amongst Human Resource (HR) graduates from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) within the Nelson Mandela Metropole (NMM). A secondary objective of this study was to determine whether P-E fit was a determinant of Human Resource (HR) graduates’ migration. The study comprised a pilot study and main study (n=50). The study was qualitative in nature, but incorporated a quantitative research component to support the qualitative research findings. Results showed that HR graduates from the NMMU perceived P-E fit as important. Immense emphasis was placed on achieving P-E fit by means of finding employment related to Human Resource Management (HRM). The lack of P-E fit, amongst HR graduates, was furthermore revealed as a determinant of graduate migration. HR graduates would relocate to pursue a career in HRM. Implications of the findings are that organisations should use the theoretical knowledge of HR graduates to develop their skills and broaden their practical knowledge. This will secure competent future HR managers for the NMM and help to combat scarce skills migrations from the area.

Abstract:

Brownian motion has met growing interest in mathematics, physics and particularly in finance since it was introduced in the beginning of the twentieth century. Stochastic processes generalizing Brownian motion have influenced many research fields theoretically and practically. Moreover, along with more refined techniques in measure theory and functional analysis more stochastic processes were constructed and studied. Lévy processes, with Brownian motionas a special case, have been of major interest in the recent decades. In addition, Lévy processes include a number of other important processes as special cases like Poisson processes and subordinators. They are also related to stable processes.

In this thesis we generalize a result by S. Chandrasekhar [2] and Edward Nelson who gave a detailed proof of this result in his book in 1967 [12]. In Nelson’s first result standard Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes are studied. Physically this describes free particles performing a random and irregular movement in water caused by collisions with the water molecules. In a further step he introduces a nonlinear drift in the position variable, i.e. he studies the case when these particles are exposed to an external field of force in physical terms.

In this report, we aim to generalize the result of Edward Nelson to the case of α-stable Lévy processes. In other words we replace the driving noise of a standard Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process by an α-stable Lévy noise and introduce a scaling parameter uniformly in front of all vector fields in the cotangent space, even in front of the noise. This corresponds to time being sent to infinity. With Chandrasekhar’s and Nelson’s choice of the diffusion constant the stationary state of the velocity process (which is approached as time tends to infinity) is the Boltzmann distribution of statistical mechanics.The scaling limits we obtain in the absence and presence of a nonlinear drift term by using the scaling property of the characteristic functions and time change, can be extended to other types of processes rather than α-stable Lévy processes.

In future, we will consider to generalize this one dimensional result to Euclidean space of arbitrary finite dimension. A challenging task is to consider the geodesic flow on the cotangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold with scaled drift and scaled Lévy noise. Geometrically the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process is defined on the tangent bundle of the real line and the driving Lévy noise is defined on the cotangent space.

Syfte: Att designa ett lämpligt prestationsmätningssystem för fallföretaget och däri integrera deras nuvarande system för ständiga förbättringar. Avgränsningar: Studien är avgränsad från att beskriva fallföretagets nuvarande strategier och nyckeltal i detalj samt från implementeringen av färdigt prestationsmätningssystem. Metod: Studien har genomförts som en fallstudie där lämplig teori har legat till grund för empiriinsamling som i sin tur har möjliggjort en analys. Slutsats: Utifrån företagets vision har strategiska målsättningar, framgångsfaktorer och nyckeltal presenterats. Tillsammans utgör dessa ett komplett Balanced Scorecard där särskilt fokus på kausala samband finns. Därutöver har en passande plats för företagets system för ständiga förbättringar identifierats i det designade prestationsmätningssystemet.

Place branding has grown in popularity since the late 1990s. In this regard, place branding is an endeavour to not only construct an image or message of a place but also to communicate and manage it. Place branding can be viewed from a functionalist point of view as a strategic instrument to be managed in a similar manner as a product or corporate brand in order to enhance competitiveness. The focus of place branding has overwhelmingly been on the customers who are mainly tourists. However, there have been recent calls to take into account the perspectives of others stakeholders, in particular internal residents, in the place branding process. It has been noted that place branding is effective through its ability to authentically represent the setting of its constituents and through it to reveal a compelling narrative of the place. This authentic setting is represented by the place identity, which can be discovered from the perspectives of the place‟s internal residents. The current study was anchored in stakeholder theory and set out to propose a simple exploratory model for understanding place identity through the perspectives of internal residents. The study explored various frameworks and models proposed in the literature up to date to understand place identity. The overarching variables were filtered out from the different frameworks and an exploratory place identity framework was proposed. A non-experimental study was carried out in the city of Nelson Mandela Bay. The study was exploratory and its variables had not been previously tested in the city. A questionnaire, which was partly self-administered and partly administered through face-to-face interviews, was distributed electronically and manually. The framework proposed variables were city role, cognitive evaluations, envisioned future as well as affective evaluations and they were operationalised from the literature. The relationship between the variables was confirmed through correlation analysis. The hypotheses in the study were tested through descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, ANOVA, t-tests and Chi-squared tests. A destination identity framework for Nelson Mandela Bay.

Although much research has been conducted on the greening of universities in the international context, not many studies focus on this topic in the South African context. A literature overview also identified that there are insufficient guidelines for green buildings at South African universities. Even though the Green Star rating tool is implemented in South Africa, no set of guidelines for green buildings exits at South African universities. The development of guidelines for green buildings at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan is a challenge which needs to be investigated. From the literature overview, it was possible to develop a framework containing seventeen green building aspects which could assist in developing green building guidelines. For this study, a two stage process was used to obtain information to evaluate green building guidelines critically at South African universities. Green building guidelines, as available at South African universities, were firstly explored by conducting a content analysis of all South African university websites. The information available on South African university websites regarding green buildings was scant and only two universities, namely the University of Cape Town and the University of Pretoria, reported that they had a green building. Stage two in the research process involved the empirical investigation of guidelines for green buildings at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. The results of the descriptive statistics showed that most building guidelines were perceived as important, but difficult to implement. The building guideline that was ranked the most important was the design of buildings that required low levels of maintenance or were maintenance free. The building guideline that was ranked the easiest to implement was to save energy in general. Considering the 17 suggested aspects and the five groups identified, a proposed set of green building guidelines was developed. The data gathered in this study is important as it could be utilised by the university to develop and implement the proposed green building guidelines.

The present paper studies the yield curve, an important tool for financial decisions, due to its fundamental role in the implementation and evaluation of monetary policies by the central banks. It also shows market perspectives in relation to the future development of interest rates, inflation and economical activities. Using an adequate model and a reasoned assessment of its parameters enables us to adjust the curve as far as possible to the real curve and hence obtain most precise and trustful results. These results were acquired by studying a model which was developed in 1987 by Nelson and Siegel and used to draw up the yield curve. Considering the model s limitations, diferent methods were used to attain the estimated parameters, such as Ordinary Least Squares, Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian Inference in the static version. The Nelson-Siegel model is widely used in Brazil and in the rest of the world, due to its economical idea, easy implementation and eficient adjustment into diferent formats that the yield curve is able to deal with. By considering the restrictions of the model, we found estimations for the parameters of the model safer than other and besides, the main point of this work is an estimation form of parameters of time together with others parameters of the model without considering one fixed value for it.
O objeto de estudo deste trabalho é a curva de taxas de juros, uma importante ferramenta utilizada em decisões financeiras, pois desempenha um papel fundamental na implementação e avaliação de políticas monetárias pelos bancos centrais. Assim sendo, indica as expectativas do mercado quanto ao comportamento futuro das taxas de juros, inflação e atividade econômica. A utilização de um bom modelo e uma boa estimação dos parâmetros do mesmo nos permite representar a curva ajustada o mais próximo da curva real, dessa forma, conseguimos encontrar resultados mais precisos e confiáveis. Neste trabalho estudamos o modelo utilizado para construção das curvas de taxas de juros desenvolvido em 1987 por Nelson e Siegel (1987) e métodos, considerando as restrições do modelo, para obtermos as estimativas dos parâmetros (Mínimos Quadrados Ordinários, Máxima Verossimilhança e Inferência Bayesiana) na vers~ao estática. O modelo de Nelson e Siegel apresenta grande aplicação tanto no Brasil quanto no restante do mundo, pois ele apresenta como características seu caráter parcimonioso nos parâmetros, sua fácil implementação e ajuste eficiente nos diversos formatos que a curva de taxas de juros pode assumir. Por considerarmos as restrições do modelo, encontramos estimativas para os parâmetros do modelo mais seguras e além disso, como principal contribuição deste trabalho, temos uma forma de estimação do parâmetro de tempo conjuntamente com os demais parâmetros do modelo, sem considerar apenas um valor fixo para ele.

The changed political climate in South Africa has contributed to the erosion of the traditional autocratic powers of the principal and the increased demand by teachers to be involved in the making of decisions which affect them directly. This has necessitated a different approach to school management. Team management is one such an approach. The research aims are to determine the nature of team management, the task and role of the principal in facilitating team management and the extent to which team management is implemented in secondary schools attended predominantly by black students in South Africa. The research methods used to achieve the aims are a literature study and an empirical survey. The investigation of the nature of team management revealed that the team management approach is based on the theories of McGregor, Herzberg, Maslow, Likert and Argyris, and that the advantages of team management outweigh its disadvantages. The prerequisites for team management were found to be active leadership, effective communication, participative decision-making and sharing power and authority. The 9,9 (team management) leadership style was found to be the most appropriate for team management. Communication within the teams should accord with Likert's System 4 communication process. With regard to the role and task of the principal in facilitating team management the study revealed that he should create opportunities for staff development and establish good human relations; ensure that the plans of the different teams complement one another in promoting school goals and distribute the work load evenly amongst teams. The principal should also promote the active and effective participation of team members in decision-making. He should treat this participation not as a favour, but as the teacher's democratic right. The principal should also level the decision-making field by ensuring that all participants have sufficient information on the topic under discussion. It was also found that the role of the principal in team building consisted of improving people related and task related skills. From the findings of the literature study a structured questionnaire was developed. The target population for the empirical survey consisted of principals, departmental heads and teachers in schools attended predominantly by black students in the Gauteng province. This part of the study revealed that the majority of principals perceived their leadership style differently from their heads of departments and teachers. The target population in general perceived the communication process with regard to team management in the schools as favourable. However, almost half the number of teachers felt deprived of participation in decision-making on issues which fall under their zone of concern. A few of the most important recommendations of the study are that principals should share leadership and authority with the various team leaders and teachers in the school. They should also rely on expert power rather than on legitimate power. In addition, the professional autonomy of teachers and the managerial authority of principals should be harmonised, while bureaucratic management by principals should be minimised. Overall, it can be concluded that there are traces of team management practices in the schools attended predominantly by black students in South Africa. This means that the usage of the team management approach is limited and should therefore be promoted.

Esse trabalho apresenta análise combinada entre a macroeconomia e a estrutura a termo das taxas de juros, através de duas modelagens distintas. Primeiramente, utiliza-se o modelo Novo Keynesiano de pequeno porte, que é combinado com o modelo dinâmico de Nelson-Siegel. Em seguida estima-se o modelo dinâmico de Nelson-Siegel integrado com variáveis macroeconômicas. São empregados dados mensais referentes aos contratos futuros de DI, de Setembro de 2002 a Dezembro de 2017. A comparação das modelagens mostra que o modelo combinado apresenta resultados mais consistentes do que o modelo integrado.
This paper aims to present a combined analysis between macroeconomics and the term structure of interest rates, through two different models. Firstly, a small New Keynesian model is used, which is combined with the dynamic Nelson-Siegel model. Then the NelsonSiegel dynamic model integrated with macroeconomic variables is estimated. Monthly data on DI futures contracts are used from September 2002 to December 2017. Comparison of modeling shows that the combined model presents more consistent results than the integrated model.

Resumo: Esta pesquisa pretende estudar as matrizes da dramaturgia contemporânea no Brasil. Ela parte, em princípio, de um apanhado teórico sobre os outros fonnatos e suportes das artes produzidas em época recente para mergulhar, posterionnente, nos aspectos ligados à dramaturgia do final do século XX, especificamente. Compreendido o conceito de dramaturgia contemporânea a que nos referimos, em permanente comunhão com outras manifestações, perpetramos então a busca de raízes e matrizes desta produção contemporânea, focados na obra do dramaturgo brasileiro Nelson Rodrigues. Da obra rodriguiana, expelimos aspectos matriciais e derivações contemporâneas, mais detidamente, da leitura analítica do primeiro ato de sua obra "Valsa no. 6". De volta à contemporaneidade, a pesquisa se fecha, circulannente, procurando compreender e reconhecer alguns elementos fundamentais da criação dramatúrgica atual, no Brasil. Novos dramaturgos são, então, mapeados em mosaico -levando-se em conta sempre os fundamentos que alicerçaram todo o trabalho. This work presents a study about the work of Nelson Rodrigues, with a focus on the indissoluble relationship among the author, the narrator and his multiples in the literary production of his chronicles and short stories. Stand out in the analysis, the historical and social resonances which are understood from the fictional work of this author, with a latent itinerary, produced more than two thousand texts, during five decades, in a transit among textual genres. From the hybridization processes in the composition of the Rodriguean narrator, it was evidenced the creation and recreation of archetypes framed by themes about love relationships, betrayal and death, bounded by tragic, mythical and psychological aspects, in a writing denominated, in this research, of Performance. In this study, excerpts from the works include: O óbvio ululante (1968), A vida como ela é...(de 1961), A menina sem estrela: Memórias (de 1967) e O reacionário: memórias e confissões (do ano de 1977) e A vida como ela é... O homem fiel e outros contos (1992). From this corpus, it was searched to explore how Nelson Rodrigues records and reflects the daily life of his time and human problems.The study was based on a qualitative bibliographical research, with a methodological basis based on analyzes of the comparative literature, with theoretical approaches that subsidized reflections on the status of the author, the narrator and the intertextual processes. Besides that it also was searched the theoretical bases of the mitochristian and the critical of psychoanalytical basis. The text is organized in three chapters. The first one that presents an approach on literature as a form of aesthetic apprehension of the real and points out aspects that evidence Nelson Rodrigues as a creative subject, with a production permeated by echoes between reality and fiction. As a theoretical source, there are the contributions of Freud (2011), Benjamin (1996), Santiago (2002), Bakhtin (2002) and Lejeune (2008). Then, a second chapter, whose purpose was to exemplify the tone of an autobiographical narrative, with retrospectives and sections of self-portrait, in time and space demarcations, trying to show how Nelson Rodrigues puts the double as a narrator character in order to transcend The "real" space, to rescue the memory, in a fictional hybrid creation, with demarcations and rites of passage of love and, mainly, death, involving figures of literature and other cultural, social and political practices. For the discussions about memory, the contributions of the triad of French authors - Ricoeur (2007), Nora (1993) and Halbwachs (2006) were used. Finally, a third chapter with the study about the different aesthetic elements present in the stories with the objective of unveiling the expressive effects of these fictional projects and analyzing how these compositions, when dialoguing with other texts, reflect an archetypal and performatic nelsonrodrigueana script; the analyzes are supported by studies by Goffman (1985) Zumthor (2005/2014). With the integration of the three chapters, it was searched to highlight the insertions of the textual and contextual structures of Rodrigues, with the interpretation of the resonances provoked by the dialogues and adaptations of the texts of Nelson Rodrigues with his context of production and with his memories
Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre a obra de Nelson Rodrigues, com enfoque para indissolúvel relação entre o autor, o narrador e seus múltiplos na produção literária de suas crônicas e contos. Ressaltam-se, na análise, as ressonâncias históricas e sociais que se depreendem da obra ficcional desse autor, que, com um itinerário latente, produziu mais de dois mil textos, durante cinco décadas, num trânsito entre gêneros textuais. A partir dos processos de hibridização na composição do narrador rodrigueano, evidenciou-se a criação e a recriação de arquétipos emoldurados por temáticas sobre relacionamentos amorosos, traição e morte, cingidas de aspectos trágicos, míticos e psicológicos, numa escrita denominada, nesta pesquisa, de performática. Figuram, neste estudo, trechos das obras: O óbvio ululante (1968), A vida como ela é... (de 1961), A menina sem estrela: Memórias (de 1967) e O reacionário: memórias e confissões (do ano de 1977) e A vida como ela é... O homem fiel e outros contos (1992). A partir desse corpus, buscou-se explorar o modo como Nelson Rodrigues registra e reflete o cotidiano de seu tempo e as problemáticas humanas. O estudo deu-se a partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, qualitativa, com a base metodológica amparada em análises da literatura comparada, com abordagens teóricas que subsidiaram reflexões sobre o estatuto do autor, do narrador e dos processos intertextuais. Além disso, também foram buscadas as bases teóricas da mitocrítica e a crítica de base psicanalítica. O texto encontra-se organizado em três capítulos. Um primeiro que apresenta uma abordagem sobre a literatura como forma de apreensão estética do real e pontua aspectos que evidenciam Nelson Rodrigues como um sujeito criador, com uma produção permeada de ecos entre realidade e ficção. Como fonte teórica, estão explicitadas as contribuições de Freud (2011), Benjamin (1996), Santiago (2002), Bakhtin (2002) e Lejeune (2008). Depois, um segundo capítulo, que teve por proposta exemplificar o tom de uma narrativa autobiográfica, com retrospectivas e seções de autorretrato, em demarcações de tempo e espaço, buscando-se evidenciar como Nelson Rodrigues põe em cena o duplo como personagem narrador, para transcender o espaço real , resgatar a memória, numa criação ficcional híbrida, com demarcações e ritos de passagem de amor e, principalmente, de morte, envolvendo figuras históricas da literatura e de outras práticas culturais, sociais e políticas. Para as discussões sobre a memória, foram utilizadas as contribuições da tríade de autores franceses Ricoeur (2007), Nora (1993) e Halbwachs (2006). Por fim, um terceiro capítulo com o estudo sobre os diferentes elementos estéticos presentes nos contos com o objetivo de desvendar os efeitos expressivos desses projetos ficcionais e analisar como essas composições, ao dialogarem com outros textos, refletem uma escritura nelsonrodrigueana arquetípica e performática; as análises estão amparadas em estudos de Goffman (1985) e Paul Zumthor (2005/2014). Com a integração dos três capítulos, buscou-se evidenciar as inserções das estruturas textuais e contextuais rodrigueanas, com a interpretação das ressonâncias provocadas pelos diálogos e adaptações dos textos de Nelson Rodrigues com seu contexto de produção e com suas memórias.

This dissertation investigates the relationships promoted by Nelson Rodrigues between the text and the scene, which reveals on his playwriting evidences of performativity. Therefore, the theoretical basis used here includes studies of performance, pragmatic and discourse analysis, offering tools to enable this performativity to be seen under different approaches. The second moment of this dissertation is reserved for the verification of these theoretical principles and the dramaturgy of Rodrigues, through the analysis of Anjo Negro, Valsa nº6 and A Falecida. The traces of performativity are observed in each one of these plays through their emphasized formal characteristics: while the theory of the speech acts tries to evidence the performativity present in the dialogues of A Falecida; the study of the poetic function of language permits to ascertain traces of performativity involved in the writing of Valsa nº 6. Also, the performance studies enable the understanding of performative content revealed in the dramaturgical architecture of Nelson Rodrigues as a scenic writer, especially in Anjo Negro.
Esta dissertação busca investigar as relações que Nelson Rodrigues promove entre o texto e a cena, o que faz com que sua dramaturgia revele traços de performatividade. Para tanto, a base teórica aqui utilizada contempla estudos da performance, da pragmática e da análise do discurso, que oferecem instrumentos para que essa performatividade possa ser surpreendida sob diferentes enfoques. O segundo momento desta dissertação é reservado à verificação desses princípios teóricos e a dramaturgia rodriguiana, através da análise de Anjo Negro, Valsa nº 6 e A Falecida. Os traços de performatividade são verificados em cada uma destas peças através de suas características formais colocadas em destaque: enquanto a teoria dos atos da fala busca evidenciar a performatividade presente nos diálogos de A Falecida; o estudo da função poética da linguagem permite averiguar os vestígios de performatividade implicados na escrita de Valsa nº 6. Já os estudos performáticos possibilitam a compreensão do teor performativo revelado na arquitetura dramatúrgica de Nelson Rodrigues enquanto escritor cênico, principalmente em Anjo Negro.

The research, Religiosity in the Brazilian drama of Nelson Rodrigues, deals with the study of representations of religious miscegenation in Nelson Rodrigues’ drama. Therefore, we choose as objects reading texts “The seven kittens”, “The deceased” and “The serpent”, respectively written in 1958, 1953 and 1978. To understand the chosen subject, the phenomenon of religious miscegenation in Brazil, we rely on anthropological view of Hélène Clastres, French scholar of religious manifestations of Brazilian Indians and in view of Darcy Ribeiro, a national anthropologist and novelist. To these studies, we combined the research of Eneida Leal on deities in Brazil and the philosophical postulates of the Italian philosopher, Nicola Abbagnano. Regarding the understanding of Nelson Rodrigues work we report, notably, the study proceeded by Sabato Magaldi, in addition to research Decio de Almeida Prado and Roberto Farias. As for the theoretical and methodological apparatus, used in the Georg Lukacs perspective, endorsed, in Brazil, Antonio Candido and the scholar of national drama, Decio de Almeida Prado. In these ways and understandings, we paided attention to the rodriguian’s particularities the settings of our devotions.
O trabalho, Religiosidade à brasileira no drama de Nelson Rodrigues, trata do estudo das representações da mestiçagem religiosa no drama de Nelson Rodrigues. Para tanto, elegemos como objetos de leitura os textos “Os sete gatinhos”, “A falecida” e “A serpente”, elaborados respectivamente nos anos de 1958, 1953 e 1978. Para o entendimento da temática escolhida, a do fenômeno da mestiçagem religiosa no Brasil, apoiamo-nos na visão antropológica de Hélène Clastres, estudiosa francesa das manifestações religiosas dos indígenas brasileiros, e na perspectiva de Darcy Ribeiro (1922-1997), antropólogo e romancista nacional. A esses estudos, aliamos a investigação de Eneida Leal sobre orixás no Brasil e os postulados do filósofo italiano Nicola Abbagnano. No que concerne à compreensão da obra de Nelson Rodrigues nos reportamos, notadamente, aos estudos procedidos por Sábato Magaldi, além das pesquisas de Décio de Almeida Prado e de João Roberto Faria. Quanto ao aparato teóricometodológico, nos utilizamos da perspectiva de Georg Lukács, endossada no Brasil, por Antonio Candido e pelo estudioso da dramaturgia nacional, Décio de Almeida Prado. Nesses modos e compreensões, procuramos observar as particularidades rodriguianas nas configurações de nossas devoções.

Este trabalho tem o objetivo de analisar duas peças de Nelson Rodrigues, Álbum de família e Os sete gatinhos, à luz das teorias sobre o drama expostas por Peter Szondi em Teoria do drama burguês e Teoria do drama moderno. Verifica-se a relação dessas obras de Nelson Rodrigues com o gênero literário “drama”. As alterações que tal gênero sofreu ao longo dos séculos XVIII, XIX e XX nos mostram que os acontecimentos histórico-sociais influenciam determinantemente a maneira como a literatura explora determinados temas. Nesse sentido, a decadência do patriarcalismo no Brasil bem como a sua manutenção nas relações sociais está representada mediante uma estética que mistura vanguarda, comédia, chanchada e drama no teatro rodriguiano. Desse modo, a estrutura formal das peças de Nelson Rodrigues revela não só um autor consciente dos recursos estéticos de que dispunha como também a trajetória peculiar do drama no Brasil.
This work aims to analyze two plays by Nelson Rodrigues, Álbum de família and Os sete gatinhos, in the light of the drama theories exposed by Peter Szondi in Teoria do drama burguês and Teoria do drama moderno. Here we check the relationship between these two plays with the literary genre historically called drama. The changes this gender has experienced over the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries show us that historical events have strongly influenced the way Literature explores certain issues. In this sense, the decline of patriarchy in Brazil, as well as its conservation inside the social relations, is represented in an aesthetics that mixes avant-garde, comedy of manners, chanchada and drama in Nelson Rodrigues’ works. Therefore, the formal structure of Nelson’s plays unveils not only an author aware of his aesthetic resources, but also the peculiar path of drama in Brazil.

Este trabalho propõe uma discussão da leitura de literatura infantil sob a ótica da teoria da Estética da Recepção, em especial da teoria do Efeito Estético, a partir da análise de três obras do autor mineiro Nelson Cruz, que trazem personagens da história e da ficção brasileira, ilustradas a partir de imagens das artes plásticas, fotografias, textos históricos: Chica e João, Dirceu e Marília e Bárbara e Alvarenga. Pretende-se examinar se existem, nelas, elementos que podem mobilizar ou expandir as expectativas do leitor criança; investigar como o projeto de ilustração pode contribuir para a recepção da narrativa; bem como analisar como se estruturam essas obras, relativamente à participação do leitor, a partir do princípio de que, segundo a Estética da Recepção, a leitura é um efeito experimentado pelo leitor, não um objeto rigidamente predeterminado pelo autor, que apesar de marcado no texto, permite a emancipação. Buscar-se-á responder à hipótese de que no corpus escolhido existem elementos que mobilizam ou expandem as expectativas do leitor criança, numa perspectiva emancipatória, a partir do efeito trazido pela leitura. A ficção histórica de Nelson Cruz trata-se de uma experimentação do ponto de vista cultural e de uma nova forma de fazer literatura, de pensar o nacional, de fazer literatura brasileira e especialmente a literatura infantil ilustrada, que é proposta como uma expressão original do pensamento crítico fundado em amplo e meticuloso estudo das manifestações culturais da literatura brasileira, que o autor mineiro reinterpreta. Ele mostra uma especificidade da História do Brasil, em que a apreensão da psicologia do cidadão está aliada ao conhecimento de sua ancestralidade. A somatória de estilos, linguagens e paródias de discursos vários geram uma obra nova que, em seu tempo de produção, mostra um "sintoma de cultura", o que resulta em textos de exigente valor estético destinados aos leitores criança. O corpus da pesquisa mobiliza figuras históricas periféricas e valores menosprezados, como o sonho e a poesia, alterando posições hierárquicas típicas da sociedade brasileira – não só do século XVIII –, promovendo o sofrimento dos perseguidos a tema para a criança, Nelson Cruz propõe uma literatura infantil carregada de afetividade e potencial crítico. Aliada a um projeto ilustrativo que se alimenta habilmente das conquistas das modernas artes visuais e cinematográficas, sua obra consegue a aproximação ao jovem leitor sem quaisquer laivos de imposição ou autoritarismo, pelo fascínio das imagens e a sinceridade das personagens, com todos os requisitos para emancipar o público visado.
This work proposes a discussion of the reading of children 's literature from the viewpoint of the Theory of Reception Aesthetics, especially the Aesthetic Effect Theory, based on the analysis of three works by the author Nelson Cruz, who bring characters from Brazilian History and fiction , illustrated from pictures of the plastic arts, photographs, historical texts: Chica e João, Dirceu e Marília and Bárbara e Alvarenga. The intention is to examine if there are elements that can mobilize or expand the expectations of the child reader; investigate how the illustration project can contribute to the reception of the narrative; as well as analyzing how these works are structured, in relation to the reader's participation, based on the principle that, according to the Aesthetics of Reception, reading is an effect experienced by the reader, not an object rigidly predetermined by the author, text, allows for emancipation. It will be tried to answer the hypothesis that in the chosen corpus there are elements that mobilize or expand the expectation of the child reader, in an emancipatory perspective, from the effect brought by the reading. The historical fiction of Nelson Cruz is a cultural experimentation and a new way of doing literature, of thinking the national, of making brazilian literature and especially illustrated children's literature, which is proposed as an original expression of the critical thinking based on a broad and meticulous study of the cultural manifestations of brazilian literature, which the author of Minas Gerais reinterprets. Asfalto Selvagem I e II - Engraçadinha seus amores e seus pecados foi escrito por Nelson Rodrigues, originalmente, sob a forma de folhetim, diariamente publicado no jornal Ultima Hora (1959-60), e seguindo o caminho de seus folhetins anteriores recebeu uma impressão posterior (1961) em forma de livro, "transformando-se" em romance. Em 1995, novamente, Asfalto Selvagem... migra para outro veículo da indústria cultural indo parar num seriado de televisão. Este trabalho propõe retraçar as pontes entre o folhetim como forma de literatura industrializada e a televisão como veículo da indústria cultural e como bem simbólico (na cultura brasileira), a fim de localizar Asfalto Selvagem: Engraçadinha seus amores e seus pecados em sua passagem do jornal à televisão em alguns aspectos implicados nesse processo. Em primeiro lugar, na obra de Nelson Rodrigues, Engraçadinha destaca-se em sua travessia social de gêneros e como romance-folhetim. Em segundo lugar, há uma re-montagem histórica da teledramaturgia como pano de fundo propiciador de uma exposição do folhetim de Nelson Rodrigues. Em terceiro lugar, a passagem, propriamente dita, do folhetim à imagem, se por um lado reforça o caráter conservador da TV, por outro, atualiza a transgressividade erótica presente no texto rodrigueano, já como uma adaptação ao século XX do folhetim do século XIX.

No texto dramatúrgico, escrito para ser encenado, estão contidas, por meio das rubricas do artista dramaturgo, todas as diretrizes para sua concretização cênica, que ficará a cargo dos diretores e atores, artistas da encenação. Devido a esse fato singular que une duas formas artísticas distintas, a relação teatro e literatura apresenta-se íntima e complexa. Ao tentar interpretar o movimento do escritor na obra dramática implica o levantamento da questão do teatro e as singularidades que o diferenciam da literatura enquanto formas estéticas definidas. No conjunto das dezessete peças que compõem a obra dramatúrgica de Nelson Rodrigues, desfilam conflitos humanos intensificados pela profunda caracterização psicológica dos personagens. É inegável em sua obra as marcas do repórter policial, hábil observador social, e do leitor atencioso dos clássicos da dramaturgia moderna. Estas constatações geraram algumas indagações acerca das influências que o autor teria sofrido ao compor um universo ficcional tão intenso de humanidade e emoção. Por isso, rastreando suas Memórias, entrevistas e biografias, bem como os dramaturgos seus precursores, busca-se a compreensão das diretrizes que nortearam sua criação. O teatro de Nelson Rodrigues tem sido classificado pelo próprio autor e pela crítica geral de 'tragédias cariocas'. Por isso, fazem-se algumas incursões aos estudos dos elementos trágicos na obra de arte, da clássica à moderna, a fim de legitimar ao autor o conceito de tragicista. Entendendo que na base dos conflitos explorados pela dramaturgia rodrigueana, encontra-se a questão da sexualidade do indivíduo em confronto com a moral preconizada pela sociedade, busca-se a origem e questiona-se o valor dessa norma moral que, embora instituída para organizar os comportamentos sociais pode, muitas vezes, gerar conflitos abissais para o homem frente ao mundo que o rodeia.
