Abstract:

Vorspann Das Reich war seit dem Mittelalter eine zentrale Kategorie deutschen juristischen und politischen Denkens. Vom Heiligen Römischen Reich deutscher Nation über das Kaiserreich bis zum Dritten Reich hat es gleichzeitig die politische wie territoriale Struktur als auch die politischen Hoffnungen der deutschen Lande bestimmt. Trotz seiner Zentralität ist das Konzept des Reichs im Kontext des Nationalsozialismus noch nicht vollständig untersucht worden. Wichtige Fragen über das Verhältnis des Regimes zu diesem politischen Begriff und Modell blieben daher bisher unbeantwortet: Wie sah, zum Beispiel, Hitler das Reich? Welche Rolle spielte es in seinem Denken? Dieser Aufsatz untersucht die Rolle des Konzepts des Reichs im Denken zentraler NS-Akteure wie Hitler selbst sowie Goebbels, Rosenberg und Himmler. Er zeigt, dass, trotz der wohlbekannten Identifikation des Nazismus mit dem Begriff Drittes Reich, Hitler sich tatsächlich vom Reichskonzept distanzierte - besonders vom Heiligen Römischen Reich und seiner christlich-universalistischen Tradition. Sogar Bismarcks Kaiserreich war nicht in dem Maß ein Vorbild für den Nationalsozialismus wie dies manchmal unterbreitet wird. Der Begriff Drittes Reich selbst wurde von Hitler explizit abgelehnt. Mit dem Ende des Nazismus verschwand das Reich endgültig aus der deutschen juristischen Tradition. Es wurde schlicht durch den Begriff Deutschland ersetzt.

Abstract:

O presente trabalho analisa as modificações instauradas no sistema educacional alemão regular e extracurricular durante o período correspondente ao Terceiro Reich (1933-1945) e sua influência na formação das crianças e jovens. O objetivo constitui-se em ressaltar a educação escolar como um dos meios utilizados pelo partido nazista para propagar sua ideologia sobre a juventude, destacando as transformações ocorridas dentro do currículo escolar regular. E, ainda, o empenho por parte do partido no que diz respeito ao incentivo da continuidade dos ensinos ideológicos nazistas em atividades extracurriculares como a Organização denominada Juventude Hitlerista, em alemão – Hitlerjugend. Essa Organização visava aprofundar ainda mais na mente dos jovens todas as ideias centrais do nazismo com o intuito de que essa geração mais nova se submetesse fielmente ao seu Führer. A metodologia empregada para a realização desta análise baseou-se principalmente em duas obras, que são: Juventude Hitlerista: mocidade traída, lançado em 1973 por H. W Koch e Juventude Hitlerista: a história dos meninos e meninas nazistas e daqueles que resistiram, publicado em 2006, por Susan Campbell Bartoletti. Com essa análise, torna-se possível compreender, na medida do possível, o por que naquele momento específico, grande parte da juventude alemã aceitou e apoiou a construção da identidade da nação almejada e idealizada por Adolf Hitler e o nacional-socialismo.Palavras-chave: Nazismo. ABSTRACTThe present work analyzes the changes established in the German regular and extracurricular educational system during the period corresponding to the Third Reich (1933-1945) and its influence on the education of children and young people. The objective is to emphasize school education as one of the means used by the Nazi party to propagate its ideology under youth, highlighting the transformations which had occurred within the regular school curriculum. And its commitment to ensure continuity in the Nazi ideological teachings in extracurricular activities like the Organization called Hitler Youth, in German – Hitlerjugend. This organization aimed to intensify in the minds of young people all the central ideas of Nazismin order that younger generation would submit faithfully to their Führer. The methodology employed to carry out this analysis was based mainly on two works, which are: Hitler Youth: Betrayed youth, launched in 1973 by H. W Koch and Hitler Youth: the story of Nazi boys and girls and those who resisted, published In 2006, by Susan Campbell Bartoletti. Thus, through this analysis, it is possible to understand, up to a certain point, the reasons why at that particular time, most part of the German youth accepted and supported the construction of the nation identity sought and idealized by Adolf Hitler and National Socialism.Keywords: Nazism. Abstract:

Resumo: Este artigo desenvolve o estudo sobre a utilização da arte, principalmente da arquitetura, como instrumento de imposição de uma ideologia no contexto específico da Alemanha Nazista no período entre a Primeira e a Segunda Guerra Mundial, abrangendo os governos de Weimar (República de 1919 a 1933) e de Hitler (Nazismo de 1933 a 1945). Para entender melhor esse cenário foi abordado o duro conflito artístico que acontecia nos bastidores das atrocidades nazistas, entre a arte do governo e a arte revolucionária, as Vanguardas Artísticas. Com esse exemplo extremo foi possível analisar o papel social e político que a arte e arquitetura representam, o que configura o real objetivo desse texto. Logo, percebe-se que através de complexas estratégias e conceitos é possível transformar uma estrutura social como um todo, sendo que essa forma de transformar pode seguir caminhos distintos de acordo com a conjuntura presente. Isso demonstra um ciclo de relações diretas, entre a estética como instrumento e produto na dinâmica social.Palavras-chave: arte; arquitetura; Nazismo; guerra; manipulação.Abstract: This article develops the study of the use of art and architecture in the imposition of an ideology: The Nazism. The period is between World War I and II, covering the governments of Weimar (Republic of 1919 to 1933) and the governments of Hitler (Nazism from 1933 to 1945). In this context, a difficult artistic conflict has been addressed which was happening behind the scenes of the Nazi atrocities. This conflict was between the art of government and revolutionary art (the ‘Artistic Vanguards’). So, considering this extreme example, it was possible to analyses the real objective of this article: to understand the social and political function that art and architecture represent. In this way, it is possible to transform a social structure as a whole using art. Simultaneously, this transforming can follow different arts according to the current social situation. Those facts demonstrate a cycle of direct relations between aesthetic as an instrument and product of social dynamics.Palavras-chave: art; architecture; Nazism; war; manipulation.

Abstract:

Nazism’s Fight against the Art of Decay:The article presents a reading of the exhibition »Entartete Kunst« that took place in Munich in 1937. The exhibition was staged by the Nazi regime as an attempt to prove the dangerous nature of modern art. According to Nazi ideology, modern art was not just a reflection of unhealthy interests or degenerate racial mixings but was in itself a threat to the purity of the soul of the German people. Therefore modern art had to be excluded in order to make room for the appearance of the German people and its eternal art. Contrary to the idea of Nazism as being somehow not modern, the article stresses the modernist aspects of the Nazi ideology through a detailed account of Nazism’s racist ideology.

O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar a relação entre biopolítica e nazismo à luz da obra de Michel Foucault e Giorgio Agamben. Para Foucault, o nazismo utilizou-se do racismo de Estado para proteger uma raça e legitimar a morte daqueles que representavam uma espécie de perigo biológico. Seguindo a mesma via, Agamben nos convida a refletir sobre os campos de concentração não como um fato histórico superado, mas como uma estrutura de poder que vem sendo cada vez mais utilizada nas democracias contemporâneas, marcada pela vigência do estado de exceção e produção da vida nua.Palavras-chave: Foucault.Agamben.Biopolítica. Campo. AbstractThis article aims to present the relationship between biopolitics and Nazism in the light of the work of Michel Foucault and Giorgio Agamben. O artigo analisa o documento do Vaticano sobre o Holocausto, situando-o na complexa história das relações cristão-judaicas. Quer mostrar como se deu a passagem do Cristo judeu à cristandade antijudaica, terreno fértil para outras formas de anti-semitismo que culminaram no nazismo e na Shoah. Em seguida analisa os pontos controvertidos do documento: a ação da Igreja nos anos 30 e na Segunda Guerra; a condenação do anti-semitismo, do nazismo e os pontos de ambiguidade e colaboração; e a atuação de Pio XII. Compara o documento da Santa Sé com os pronunciamentos dos bispos alemães (1995) e dos bispos franceses (1997) sobre o tema, investigando a eclesiologia subjacente. Por fim, contempla as perspectivas de diálogo entre judeus e cristãos. Abstract: The article analizes the Vatican document on the Holocaust, putting it in the complex Christian-Jewish relationship throughout History. It tries to show how Christianity went out from the Jewish Christ to the unjewish Christendom, a good soil to otherforms of anti-Semitism that led to Nazism and the Shoah. Then, it focus on the controversial points of the document: the action of the Church in the 30’s and in the Second World War; the condemnation of anti-Semitism, of Nazism and the leveis of ambiguity and collaboration; as well as the action of Pius XII. It collates the Holy See s document with statements ofthe German bishops (1995) and the French bishops (1997) about that theme, investigating the ecclesiology that is behind thenu Eventually it points out the perspectives of Christian-Jewish dialog.

Abstract:

The political commitment of Heidegger with nazism has been subjected, since 1946, to strong moral criticism. In 1989, Víctor Farías Heidegger et le nazisme, failed to submit any new hard data to what was already known since 1962. This article demonstrates that Farías’ book is biased and not conclusive as regards the “new” evidence submitted in it. Furthermore, neither Farías nor other “moral” criticisms of his kind have been able to demonstrate a direct link between Heidegger’s political commitment and his philosophical thought. Heidegger’s philosophy should be criticized, but in a rational rigorous argumentation, already proposed either by neoweberians or by Habermas.

Watch on the Rhine (1941) and The Searching Wind (1943) were both molded from Lillian Hellman's radical opposition to the totalitarism of Mussolini and Hitler. Neither of these two politically committed plays supplies a convincing guidance to the bewildered war years. Yet they both demonstrate the protest of the dramatist (and the audience who applauded them) against Fascism and Nazism. Watch on the Rhine (1941) e The Searching Wind (1913) foram fruto da oposição radical da teatróloga Lillian Hellman ao totalitarismo de Mussolini e Hitler. Essas peças, de cunho claramente político, não veiculam soluções, mas sim o protesto da autora (e da platéia que a aplaude) contra o Fascismo e o Nazismo.

Reflections on History and Literature Pierre-Emmanuel Dauzat discusses the relationship between history and literature on the Shoah, in particular through an analysis of Jonathan Littells highly successful novel, published initially in France and translated in other European countries. Looking back at earlier books on the same theme that failed to attract any attention, he concludes that Littells novel marks a new phase, with the Shoah seen through the person of the «executioner». Abstract:

A propaganda foi um dos elementos mais fortes do Terceiro Reich na Alemanha pré-Segunda Guerra Mundial. A persuasão utilizada nas propagandas nazistas afetou a população de maneira com que apoiassem praticamente todas as decisões tomadas pelo governo nesse contexto. Para compreender a influência ideológica na Alemanha Nazista este trabalho identifica e analisa os aspectos alienantes contidos na propaganda durante o regime de Hitler. Para se chegar a este objetivo através de estudo de caso foram selecionadas algumas propagandas para análise e apontado as características da Teoria Critica imposto pela indústria cultural e alienação da população. Uma vez que o regime autoritário imposto pelo governo nessa época precisava de extrema poder de manipulação de massas para manter o controle social, entende-se que a propaganda foi a principal ferramenta usada – e desenvolvida – pelo nazismo para o processo de alienação da sociedade. A partir do problema da relação entre técnica e alienação faz-se uma crítica tillichiana.

Ilse Losa nasceu em 1913 na Alemanha. Daniel Blaufuks, em Portugal, em 1963. Com a ascensão do nazismo, Losa emigrou para o Porto, a família de Blaufuks para Lisboa. Os trabalhos de ambos os artistas são marcados pelas reverberações da Segunda Grande Guerra. Na ficção, os artistas imprimem suas memórias pessoais, a experiência do exílio, o testemunho e a perspectiva da vida cotidiana em Portugal. Losa escreve, em 1962, Sob céus estranhos, um amplo panorama das diversas dimensões da tragédia vivida pelos refugiados que tiveram de fugir às pressas da Alemanha ou de outros países ocupados pelos nazistas, entre 1933 e 1945. Em Sob céus estranhos: uma história de exílio, publicado em 2007, Blaufuks, incluindo um filme de 57min, apresenta um álbum de fotografias de família que, por intermédio de uma revisitação ficcional e, por isso mesmo, aberta e multidimensionada da memória, expõe o pendor contemporâneo da ficção a partir de uma poética da coleção e do arquivo.

O presente artigo discorre sobre o movimento dadaísta e relaciona a sua vertente berlinense, ocorrida no início da República Weimar, com a situação brasileira contemporânea e a pós-verdade. Para tanto, apresenta um panorama da situação da Alemanha entre sua unificação e a ascensão do nazismo e compara com a atual crise brasileira iniciada com os protestos de 2013. ABSTRACT This article discusses the Dada movement and relates its Berlin aspect, which occurred at the beginning of the Weimar Republic, with the contemporary Brazilian situation and the post-truth. To do so, it presents an overview of the situation of Germany between its unification and a rise of Nazism and compares to a current crisis started whit the protests of 2013. Através do estudo de livros escritos por vítimas do nazismo, este artigo procura propor uma abordagem do Holocausto no ensino escolar que seja aprofundada nos efeitos sociais do antissemitismo, como a violência, o preconceito e o racismo vividos pelos judeus europeus em seu cotidiano. O objetivo desta atividade seria tornar o ensino de história mais voltado aos problemas do contexto social atual ao abordar o sofrimento de indivíduos reais do passado, diversificando a didática e acrescentando ao conhecimento dos fatos políticos já ensinado.* * *The article analyzes the use of Holocaust literature in school teaching of the history course. Through the study of books produced by victims of Nazism, it seeks to make an approach to the past that is sensitive to current social problems, such as violence, prejudice and racism. The purpose of this activity would be to make history teaching more focused on the problems of the current social context by addressing the suffering of real individuals, diversifying the teaching practice and adding to the knowledge of the political facts already taught.

All fields of knowledge need concepts, which have been well studied in the most diverse disciplines. In this article, we intend to expose the possibility of approaching the construction and understanding of concepts (in all fields of study) associating this with a musical notion — the ‘chord’. The universe experienced for this possibility will be that of the concept of Nazism. We intend to apply the conceptual chord form to the study of a set of minimum characteristics that could configure an adequate concept of Nazism. Mi ensayo ha querido explicar genealógicamente y de forma contextualizada el desencuentro entre Ernst Cassirer y Martin Heidegger en Davos, y la deriva de éste hacia el nazismo desde los presupuestos de su filosofía existencial. ¿Qué papel juega el antisemitismo espiritual en la crítica heideggeriana al neokantismo y la fenomenología trascendental? ¿Por qué la fenomenología de Edmund Husserl es "una monstruosidad"? ¿Por qué Kant se convierte en batalla y campo de batalla de la Kulturkampf? ¿Por qué se lee a Heidegger como se lee? ¿Qué sentido tiene la práctica de la historia de la filosofía en el “final” de la filosofía?My essay wanted to explain genealogically and in a contextualized way the disagreement between Cassirer and Heidegger in Davos, and its drift towards Nazism from the budgets of their existential philosophy. Abstract:

This article attempts to cast light upon Ludwig Müller’sauthorship. Müller was one of the leading figures in the German Christian(“DC”) Faith Movement during the 1930s. He was elected as thefirst (and only) Reichsbischof of the short-lived Protestant Reichskirche inthe first half of the 1930s. For this reason his authorship presents uniqueinsights into the DC-movement’s own reasoning concerning its particularview of the Evangelical-Protestant doctrine shared by many Germantheologians at that time. The article asserts that Müller’s theological reasoning– in his attempt to bring about a harmonization of EvangelicalProtestantdoctrine and National-Socialist Weltanschauung – results in aperversion of the above-mentioned Christian doctrine due to a conspicuouslyanti-dogmatic (i.e. not-sin-oriented), a highly pragmatic orientedattitude towards Christian morals, and a one-sided focus on God’simmanence.

Em virtude da popularização de textos em diversos sites e em redes sociais colocando o nazismo como uma ideologia de esquerda, contrariando parte considerável da historiografia séria produzida desde o fim da Segunda Guerra Mundial, este artigo tem como objetivo elucidar a seguinte questão: “o nazismo era uma ideologia de direita ou de esquerda?”. Para isso, serão trazidos argumentos encontrados em sites que defendem o ponto de vista revisionista e, em seguida, serão discutidos vários aspectos da doutrina hitlerista com base em uma revisão bibliográfica de cunho qualitativo, desde a ideologia em si até as ações do Partido Nazista enquanto este esteve no poder, a fim de examinar a posição do nacional-socialismo no espectro político-ideológico. Por fim, conclui-se que as premissas revisionistas são rasas, na maioria das vezes infundadas, podendo servir como mero recurso retórico de conservadores e grupos direitistas.

Este artigo contextualiza o nazismo como projeto de degradação da multiplicidade humana a partir da instrumentalização da língua alemã e consequentemente da linguagem como experiência humana. Tal contextualização se inicia apresentando os projetos amplamente conhecidos do nazismo, que se dão à sombra de Auschwitz, para, em seguida, partir à análise das observações de Victor Klemperer sobre a aplicação da LTI (Lingua Tertii Imperii) na sociedade alemã no período que envolveu o entreguerras e o final da Segunda Guerra Mundial, precisamente na cidade de Dresden, onde Klemperer viveu e repensou sua condição judaica. Por meio do uso estratégico da linguagem, o nazismo interveio nos hábitos da sociedade alemã, o que implicou a adesão popular à ideologia do Terceiro Reich, bem como provocou a legitimação da reprodução do mal naquela sociedade, enquanto projeto pervertido de cidadania. Disso resulta uma compreensão biopolítica da linguagem, na medida em que se reconhece o nazismo como doutrina do fanatismo.

This article brings forth, organizes and interprets a compound of historical-empirical evidence that allows questioning of two still standing pillars of Nazism political studies: the assumption that the racial aspect of nazi ideology enjoyed a relatively monolithic interpretation within the nazi movement; and the assumption that, after the conquest of power, the nazi Party-State conspired to unilaterally impose such “ideological dogma”, both in theory and practice, on German University and German society. Rather than confirm these oft-repeated conventions, we uncover a much more complex, dialectical and dynamic mesh of relationships involving ideology, pseudoscience and racial science within the nazi movement and under the nazi regime. Abstract From Humanism to Nazism. The case of Frederik Jzn. Muller (1883-1944) Frederik Jzn. Muller (1883—1944) was professor of Latin at Leiden University from 1921 to 1944 and one of the few prominent Dutch classicists who collaborated with the German occupiers during the Second World War. The driving force behind Muller’s collaboration was not political opportunism or anti-Semitic ideology, but the conviction that only in a ‘Third Reich’ under German leadership could a new era of European culture dawn. With his belief in the close connection between cultural flourishing and state-building, Muller was a rare Dutch exponent of the intellectual movement known as the ‘third’ humanism, of which the German classicist Werner Jaeger (1888-1961) is commonly seen as the most typical representative. However, Frederik Muller’s views, much more so than Jaeger’s, expose the utterly paradoxical relationship between the ‘third’ humanism and the history of National Socialism.
