Is the specter of death the greater motivator of life? And, without that specter, would humans lack motivation to work and achieve? In this work of philosophical short story fiction, Peter wakes up to a warning from his computer that the nanites in his grandmother’s body are failing, and she is slowly dying from kidney failure. He spends the morning working to find the source of the sickness and issues. After some work, he realizes that the nanites are producing a product that is slowly poisoning his grandmother; it’s murder! He goes to his 150-year-old grandmother’s house to tell her, only to find out she knows about the issues, and she is the one who created them. Even though she is the creator of the nanites, and is a celebrity scientist of sorts, she has come to the conclusion that without the fear of death, humans lack motivation to excel.

Nanorobotics Nanorobotics is a technology for making machines, robots in nanometer scale. More specifically, nanorobotics largely refer to the still-hypothetical technique of nanotechnology in the design and construction of nanoparticles and devices that range in size from 0.1-10 micrometers and are constructed from own molecular components or the molecules like DNA. Abstract:

Nanorobotics is the technology of creating robots at nanoscale. Specifically, nanorobotics refers to the hypothetical nanotechnology engineering discipline of designing and building nanorobots, devices ranging in size from 0.1-10 micrometers and constructed of molecular components. On this concept of artificial non-biological nanorobots, many research centers are performing the research activities. The names nanobots, nanoids, nanites or nanomites have also been used to describe these hypothetical devices. They are applied in advanced medical applications like diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, early detection and treatment of cancer, cellular nonosurgery and genetherapy. A few generations from now someone diagnosed with cancer might be offered a new alternative to chemotherapy. A doctor practicing nanomedicine of chemotherapy would offer the patient an injection of a special type of nanorobot that would seek out cancer cells and destroy them, dispelling the disease at the source, leaving healthy cells untouched unlike the traditional treatment of radiation that kills not only cancer cells but also healthy human cells. Radiation treatment may also cause hair loss, fatigue, nausea, depression, and a host of other symptoms. Thus in nanorobotics, the extent of the hardship to the patient would essentially be a prick to the arm. A person undergoing a nanorobotic treatment could expect to have no awareness of the molecular devices working inside them, other than rapid betterment of their health. A major advantage that nanorobots provide is durability, as they could last for years. The operation time would also be much lower because their displacements are smaller. Hence reduced material costs, accessibility to previously unreachable areas are the motivating factors. Thus our review explains that the designing and testing of primitive devices and their potential applications promise rich benefits for patients, medical personal, engineers, and scientists.

Abstract:

The current article deals with the urgent problems of introducing such educational discipline as "Educational robotics" into the curriculum of educational institutions. The article also considers the necessity of special training of pre-service teachers of informatics for teaching educational robotics at school and inclusion of a number of specialized educational disciplines, such as "Educational Informatics", "Robotics", "Hardware programming of microcontrollers" into their professional training. Moreover, the text of the article depicts the results of the diagnostic experiment started in 2013 on the basis of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky (Odessa, Ukraine) within the framework of the discipline "Programming of microcontrollers". The aforementioned course is taught for students of full-time and parttime studying in the specialty "Secondary Education (Computer Science)". The article highlights the positive aspects of the influence of teaching educational robotics at school and during professional training of pre-service teachers of informatics. In addition, the text highlights the experience of participating in the "Build Your Own AVR JTAG ICE Clone" project, which had been devoted to the study of the AVR JTAG controller. In the framework of the project participants were asked to explore the possibility of simplifying the architecture of this controller. While working on project implementation, we were given the task of making it easier to create an in-circuit debugger. The results of participation in this project were extended and continued in the framework of scientific degree work of students in the scientific direction "014 Secondary Education (Informatics)". According to the goals and objectives of the international project, taking into account the experience of working on the project "Build Your Own AVR JTAG ICE clone", the experience of cooperation with the NANITES Group and taking into account own pedagogical and methodological experience in accordance with the training needs and market demand in the framework of MoPED: Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP implementation we have created a program of educational discipline "Educational Robotics" which structure is described in the article.

Abstract:

The use of digital models of cultural heritage objects obtained from 3D scanning or photogrammetry requires the development of strategies in order to optimise computational resources and enhance the user experience when they are used in interactive applications or virtual museums. Through a case study, this work compares an original photogrammetric model with its optimised version using traditional remeshing techniques and an improved version using Nanite technology, developed by Epic Games. A self-contained executable is created in Unreal® 5.1 game engine to test the performance of the three models measured in frames per second (FPS). As a result, it was demonstrated that, although there is no substantial difference in the FPS rate, the Nanite technology avoids the need to perform the mesh and texture editing processes that lead to the construction of the optimised model. This saves considerable time and specialised effort, as the photogrammetric model can be converted to a Nanite object automatically. This would be a great advantage in the case of virtualisations of large collections of heritage objects, which is a common case in virtual museums.

Abstract:

The first workers produced by an ant queen with a claustral founding mode are much smaller than the workers after the second generation and are thus called “nanitics.” These nanitics shoulder the initial fate of the colony and thus may be different morphometric morph from the other workers in mature colony to optimize the survival of their own colony. We report here that, in the ant Camponotus obscuripes Mayr, the allometric rules of the nanitics are different from those of other workers in mature colonies, suggesting that the nanitics constitute an independent caste as with soldiers or queens in other species. In addition, the antennae of the nanitics show the minimum absolute length-difference with the mother queen compared to the other traits measured. This result suggests that this small size difference enables C. obscuripes nanitics to communicate with the other members of the colony. Our results indicate that polymorphic societies affect the growth rules of workers.

Abstract:

Breast cancer is the most widespread malignancy in women worldwide. Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) have proven effective in the treatment of cancer. NLCs loaded with imatinib (IMA) (NANIMA) were prepared and evaluated for their in vitro efficacy in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. The hot homogenization method was used for the preparation of NANIMAs. An aqueous solution of surfactants (hot) was mixed with a molten mixture of stearic acid and sesame oil (hot) under homogenization. The prepared NANIMAs were characterized and evaluated for size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, release studies, stability studies, and MTT assay (cytotoxicity studies). The optimized NANIMAs revealed a particle size of 104.63 ± 9.55 d.nm, PdI of 0.227 ± 0.06, and EE of 99.79 ± 0.03. All of the NANIMAs revealed slow and sustained release behavior. The surfactants used in the preparation of the NANIMAs exhibited their effects on particle size, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, stability studies, and release studies. The cytotoxicity studies unveiled an 8.75 times increase in cytotoxicity for the optimized NANIMAs (IC50 = 6 µM) when compared to IMA alone (IC50 = 52.5 µM) on MCF-7 breast cancer cells. In the future, NLCs containing IMA will possibly be employed to cure breast cancer. A small amount of IMA loaded into the NLCs will be better than IMA alone for the treatment of breast cancer. Moreover, patients will likely exhibit less adverse effects than in the case of IMA alone. Consequently, NANIMAs could prove to be useful for effective breast cancer treatment.

The sources of values and ethics in all aspects of human life as a whole, including in the business world, are the Koran and Hadith. The purpose of this research is to find out the analysis of the application of sales ethics in the Gadung cracker industry according to business ethics from an Islamic perspective and to find out the analysis of the application of transaction ethics in the Gadung cracker industry according to business ethics from an Islamic perspective. The results of the research state that sales ethics. In reality, all producers cannot implement all the principles of buying and selling ethics. Mrs. Nanik's home industry applies the principle of honesty or truth as a priority. From the results of observations related to the application of transaction ethics carried out in Mrs. Nanik's industry, she has implemented transaction ethics in accordance with sharia transaction principles. This type of research is quantitative. The population in this research is consumers of the Nanike Collection clothing store. The sample used was 160 respondents. The analysis tool uses multiple linear regression. The research results prove that price, product quality and brand image have a significant effect on consumer buying interest at the Nanike Collection clothing store, Jember Regency.

O trabalho realiza uma análise empírica dos determinates do uso de crédito a partir de amostra de 50 mil empresas formais e informais por conta própria ou empregadoras até cinco empregados a partir da Pesquisa Economia Informal Urbana (ECINF) do IBGE. O objetivo é contribuir para o desenvolvimento do crédito produtivo popular no Brasil. O mercado de microcrédito se revela incipiente: apenas 13,7% dos nanonegócios apresentavam dívida pendente, a concentração dos estoques de dívida entre os 10% mais altos valores neste segmento é de 98,5% contra 60,8% do faturamento e 59,4% do lucro. Complementarmente, 7% dos nanonegócios obtiveram acesso a crédito nos três meses anteriores à pesquisa. Apresentamos o padrão de correlações do uso do crédito produtivo popular com outras variáveis, baseadas em um modelo logístico rodado a partir dos microdados da ECINF. Constatamos que alguns elementos do capital social como participação em cooperativas, indicadores de formalidade e posse de equipamentos apresentam correlação significativa com o acesso a crédito. Em geral, os resultados são consistentes com a importância atribuída na literatura a garantias reais e alternativas na obtenção de fontes de financiamento.

Abstract:

In the field of computer game development, there are numerous optimization methods that help to significantly reduce the number of calculations that the game system performs while playing the game. In its turn, this allows to display increasingly realistic graphics. The paper presents the performed analysis of general optimization methods used in the game engine Unreal Engine, such as Distance Culling, Occlusion Culling, Frustum Culling, LODs, Level Streaming, and the Nanite System. The main factors such as resource intensity, visual quality, number of objects, and scale have been determined. The research results demonstrate that properly applied optimization methods can improve game performance and reduce the computational load on the system, which is crucial both functionally and aesthetically.

El presente artículo intenta entender, en la línea de Daniel Hameline y de Nanine Charbonnel, el porqué de que en educación no se pueda escapar a la presencia y a la función que la metáfora desempeña en el interior, tanto de los textos, como de los discursos educacionales y pedagógicos. En este contexto, el autor del estudio presenta y trabaja la obra educacional de Célestin Freinet (1896-1966) influenciado por los estudios sobre la metáfora de Daniel Hameline, Nanine Charbonnel y de Paul Ricœur. Esto, con el objetivo de hacer entender la pertinencia de la metáfora hortícola en el espacio educacional pedagógico. También intenta reflexionar, en la línea de Paul Ricoeur, si la metáfora, más precisamente la metáfora hortícola, nos plantea la necesidad de una apertura al símbolo, que en el caso específico de la metáfora hortícola sería al simbolismo vegetal y, por consiguiente, habría que tener en cuenta cuáles son las consecuencias pedagógicas de esa metáfora y de la metáfora en sentido amplio.

Методом твердофазного синтеза получено новое магнитное соединение NaNiFe2(VO4)3, приведены результаты изучения методами рентгеновской дифракции, гамма-резонанса и магнитометрии. Кристаллическая структура многокомпонентного ванадата описывается триклинной пространственной группой симметрии P1. Элементарная ячейка содержит шесть неэквивалентных смешанных катионных позиций, занятых разновалентными ионами переходных металлов железа Fe3+ и никеля Ni2+, что способствует реализации состояния с локальным нарушением зарядовой нейтральности. Кроме того, обнаружено наличие двух типов позиций атомов железа: с кислородным окружением как в виде октаэдров, так и квадратных пирамид с неравновероятной их заселенностью железом и никелем. Ход температурной и полевой зависимостей намагниченности в широком температурном интервале характерен для парамагнетика, содержащего ферромагнитные кластеры. Abstract Introduction Many new mothers experience poor sleep postpartum, which has been found to increase the risk of negative cardiovascular health and mental health outcomes. A few studies have found that experiences of racial/ethnic discrimination are associated with poor maternal sleep, but less is known about the effect of discrimination in other domains. Previous studies have also not accounted for the effect of infant sleep on maternal sleep, which is known to be a major influence in the first year after birth. This study aims to investigate the association between gender discrimination (GD) and postpartum maternal sleep, controlling for infant sleep. Methods The cohort comprised 506 mother-child dyads from the customer base of the Nanit Smart Baby Monitor. At 6–12 months postpartum (Mean±SD: 9.2±1.8), maternal experiences of GD (Everyday Discrimination Scale), perceived stress (Perceived Stress Scale (PSS)), and subjective sleep (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) were assessed. Objective measures of infant sleep were obtained using the Nanit Smart Baby-Monitor. Logistic and linear regressions estimated the associations between maternal experiences of GD and maternal sleep, controlling for PSS, household income, infant age and sex, and objective infant sleep duration and wakings. Results 34.6% of mothers reported experiencing GD. The average PSS score was 15 (± 6.7). Infants had an average sleep duration of 10h (± 1.2) and an average of 3.1 (± 1.4) nighttime sleep wakings. Maternal experiences of GD were associated with shorter sleep duration (OR=1.67, CI=1.07-2.64) and more sleep disturbances (β = 0.77, CI= 0.04-1.49). The PSS was associated with more sleep disturbances (β = 0.11, CI= 0.05-0.16). Objective infant sleep duration was associated with subjective maternal sleep duration (OR=0.57, CI=0.47-0.69). Conclusion Maternal experiences of GD are associated with worse postpartum maternal sleep, suggesting that sleep could serve as a biological pathway relating GD and postpartum health. Future research is needed to investigate the long-term implications of maternal experiences of GD on maternal-fetal health. Paraponera clavata Smith is a large, notorious, and widely distributed ant, yet its colony founding behavior is poorly known. In the laboratory, a dealate queen collected from Peru reared a first generation of ten adult workers over 18 months; eight cocoons and several larvae failed. Food was obtained outside the nest and given to larvae. It took five and six months before the first two workers emerged, and they were smaller than average (i.e.‘nanitic’). At Q+4, trophic eggs were laid by workers and given directly to medium and mature larvae on three occasions. Six workers were dissected immediately after the queen’s death, and five had yolky oocytes in their ovaries. Queen foraging is known from anecdotal field observations, despite the prothorax (and corresponding neck muscles) being smaller than in other poneroid queens.

This study presents the creation of a virtual reality experience for the Museo Preistorico dei Balzi Rossi e Zona Archeologica (hence Balzi Rossi Museum) commemorating the centenary of Prince Albert I Grimaldi’s archaeological work at the site. The project aims to preserve and convey the site’s heritage through advanced VR technology. Photogrammetry was used for 3D reconstruction of the entire Balzi Rossi coastal cliffs, including the notable “Caviglione” and “Florestano” caves, known for their upper Paleolithic rock engravings. Two subsequent development phases produced the final public VR experience, incorporating Nanite technology for enhanced visual fidelity. This advancement resulted in a more detailed and immersive VR experience, presenting the Balzi Rossi cliffs across different historical periods, including the Würm glaciation. Key to this phase was optimizing the VR experience for performance, focusing on stable frame rates and minimizing motion sickness, and integrating a multi-lingual interface for broader accessibility. Since November 2023, the VR setup at Balzi Rossi Museum has been an educational and interactive feature enabling visitors to virtually explore the site’s history. This study aims to describe a process for optimizing and enabling the creation of VR experiences while maintaining a high polygon count within the context of small teams.

Abstract Introduction Daylight saving time (DST) imposes a twice yearly 1h change in local clock time. Although it may seem a small adjustment, there is increasing awareness of the potential acute and long term effects at the individual and population level. Several studies have shown detrimental effects on sleep patterns, but mostly focusing on adults. Only one study has looked at the effect in infants’ sleep of change from standard time (ST) to DST, reporting negative effects. One study limitation was the reliance on parental reports of infant sleep. In addition, effects of the change from DST to ST are unknown. We hypothesize that the change from DST to ST would lead to earlier rise times, leading to sleep loss in the week following the change. Methods Caregivers of 510 children ages 3-24 mos (M=9.8 mos) tracked their child’s sleep using Nanit baby-monitor. Sleep metrics analyzed were: Nighttime sleep duration (NSD) and midpoint, number of night-wakings and sleep efficiency. Wilcoxon rank sum tests compared the average of each sleep metric for the week preceding the time change (Oct 31st-Nov 4th 2022, Baseline) with sleep metrics for each night of the following week (Nov 7-11 2022, post-DST week). Analyses were repeated stratifying by age group (4-6,7-12 and 13-24 months). Results After the time change, there was no change in NSD or sleep efficiency. There was a significant decrease in the number of night-wakings for infants 3-6 months, with an average of 0.5 fewer wakings per night compared to Baseline (Baseline mean=5 wakings). Midpoint was significantly earlier for all ages by an average of 10min, every day of the post-DST week. Conclusion The return to ST affected infants’ sleep midpoint. Observed effects were minor compared to those reported in previous literature for the ST to DST change, in line with other fields like cardiovascular health. This easier adjustment could be attributed to the fact that during DST there is an increased mismatch between body clock and social clock time, thus infants more readily adjust to a return to ST which minimizes this mismatch. SummaryThe classical resistance monitoring technique using full bioassay lines on laboratory reared F1 progeny of field material was compared to the previously described discriminating dose technique on field collected individuals. The Via tolerance curve analysis of the F1 data clearly indicated the predominance of the oxidative metabolic pyrethroid resistance mechanism from the 1984/85 season onwards. There appears to have been an abrupt change in the relative importance of field resistance mechanisms following the introduction of the insecticide resistance management (IRM) strategy in 1983/84. The strategy seems to have favoured the selection of the more amenable oxidative resistance mechanism over the intractable nerve insensitivity mechanism. The Beeman-Nanis analysis was applied to attempt to identify the relative importance of the various field resistance genes. However, it proved of little value in this study as one of the key assumptions underlying the analysis (full genetic dominance) was not satisfied.

Abstract:

Este artículo refiere al nacimiento del cuento homosexual en Chile y presenta como hallazgo investigativo el cuento “Algo extraño” (20 de diciembre, 1959) del narrador chileno Ariel Godoy Astica. Junto a “La mala ventura de Nanito Velásquez” (1959) de Edesio Alvarado, este relato puede ser considerado como el primero, en la forma de cuento, dentro de las letras chilenas, en donde se muestra abiertamente una vinculación con la cultura homosexual. Con respecto a la fábula, la narración de Godoy Astica nos presenta a su protagonista Camilo, un joven de diecisiete años de edad, quien siente “algo extraño” por Dalzare, otro niño de trece años; lo extraño es la pasión amorosa. El cuento, cuya temática central es este enamoramiento, presenta esta forma de amor homosexual de manera romántica, pura y platónica. Para articular su universo narrativo, este relato, como en algunos de los momentos anteriores de la literatura chilena (poesía y novela), recurre a la sublimación para dar a conocer las vivencias relacionales del vivir homosexual, escapando a lo escabroso de un entorno social degradado y degradante. Se reafirma con este cuento de Godoy Astica a la literatura homosexual como testimonio y expresión de lo subalterno, lo sublime, aunque sin tocar la fantasía (Sutherland 2001).

Abstract:

Laranjeiras 'Pêra' enxertadas em 11 cultivares ou híbridos de tangerineiras foram plantadas em 1988 em Itirapina (SP), num Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo textura arenosa, no espaçamento 4,25m x 7,5m e conduzidas sem irrigação sob clima Cwa. Tristeza e declínio são endêmicos na região. As tangerineiras 'África do Sul', 'Xienkhouanga', 'Empress', 'Cleópatra', 'Wildt', 117.477 e 'Sul da África', sem diferirem entre si, induziram, em ordem decrescente, as maiores produções de frutos às laranjeiras 'Pêra', no total das quatro primeiras colheitas do experimento. Num total de nove colheitas, as cultivares Xienkhouanga, África do Sul, 117.477, Cleópatra, Empress, Wildt e Szinkon x Tizon, sem diferirem entre si, proporcionaram, em ordem decrescente, as maiores produções de frutos às laranjeiras 'Pêra'. Os porta-enxertos não determinaram diferenças significativas nas características comerciais dos frutos, porém a 'Cleópatra' induziu maturação mais precoce que os demais porta-enxertos. Apenas a 'Szwinkon' x 'Szinkon-tizon' proporcionou a formação de plantas nanicas, com altura inferior a 2,5m. Os dados médios de produção de frutos e de sólidos solúveis, concernentes a três anos consecutivos de colheita, revelaram que as laranjeiras 'Pêra' enxertadas nas tangerineiras 'Xienkhouanga' e 117.477, sem diferir das plantas enxertadas nas cultivares África do Sul, Cleópatra, Empress, Wildt e Szinkon x Tizon, foram significativamente mais produtivas em frutos e em sólidos solúveis que as enxertadas em 'Sul da África', 'Vermelha', 'Muscia' e 'Szwinkon' x 'Szinkon-tizon'. Nenhuma das plantas apresentou sintomas de intolerância à tristeza, ao declínio dos citros ou anel de goma na região de enxertia, considerado sintoma de incompatibilidade entre a copa e o porta-enxerto.

Abstract:

Introduction: Someone attached by stroke can’t do their activity fluently because stroke can cause the weakness of motor and sensor function. This condition cause physical defect and give effect in social and economic too, because someone who suffered stroke usually still in productive age. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of arm range of motion in the muscle strength of post stroke patient.Methods: Pre experimental pre–post test design was used in this study. Population of this study was post stroke patient in Wijayakusuma ward dr. Soedono Hospital and total samples were 11 respondents. Independent variable was arm range of motion exercise, dependent variable was strength of arm muscle. Data were collected by observation with manual muscle testing of Lovelt, Naniel and Worthinghom and then analyzed using wilcoxon signed rank test with signi fi cant level of α ≤ 0.05.Result: The result showed that 11 respondents had increased their strength of muscle (p = 0.04).Conclusion: It can be concluded that the strength of muscle increased after get arm range of motion exercise. When range of motion had been done Ca+ will be activated by cell so that happen integrity of muscle protein. If Ca+ and troponin had been activated, actin and myosin would have been defensed, so that can moved the skeletal and followed by muscle contraction, expand, outgrow and had a tonus. This condition can showed the strength of muscle.

Abstract:

Budaya santun dalam kehidupan sehari-hari orang Sunda antara lain diwujudkan melalui penggunaan tingkat tutur hormat ketika orang Sunda berkomunikasi. Penggunaan tingkat tutur hormat dapat berorientasi terhadap diri sendiri dapat pula berorientasi terhadap orang lain. Tingkat tutur hormat ini secara linguistik ditandai dengan pilihan kata tertentu. Artikel ini membahas mekanisme penggunaan tingkat tutur hormat terhadap orang lain ketika terjadi peristiwa tutur disertai penggunaan vokatif di dalamnya. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak dengan teknik catat. Analisis data menggunakan metode padan pragmatik dengan pendekatan sosiolinguistik. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah sumber data tulis berupa novel berbahasa Sunda yang berjudul Rasiah Geulang Rantay (1997) karya Nanie. Pemilihan sumber data ini mempertimbangkan terdapatnya data yang diperlukan dalam penelitian. Berdasarkan karakteristik data yang diperlukan terpilih sembilan belas data yang memperlihatkan penggunaan tingkat tutur halus yang disertai dengan penggunaan vokatif. Berdasarkan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa mekanisme penggunaan tingkat tutur hormat yang berorientasi terhadap orang lain yang disertai dengan pemakaian vokatif di dalamnya terbagi atas dua kategori, yaitu (1) tingkat tutur hormat yang terjadi di antara angggota keluarga, yang terdiri atas lima subkategori dengan tujuh jenis vokatif dan variasinya, (2) tingkat tutur hormat yang terjadi bukan di antara angggota keluarga, yang terdiri atas sembilan subkategori dengan delapan jenis vokatif.
